Comment: I find myself right in the face of adversity after being very hostily ousted from lawfully residing at my 86 yr old unmedicated mothers home (with horrible undiagnosed borderline personality disorder), being asked to leave now! the property of another local storage place in Sta Barbara and ALSOOOO having my car impounded by the PD by means of illegal, cold war-like espionage tactics. Im pausing here outside the Castillo 711 to find a small joy in a bag of skittles. Im finding that in most bags, almost invariably, Ill find one with a genetic mutation whose odd-flatish condition is a disdvantage when I squeeze two together until one splinters and breaks. But sometimes the mutant prevails. And as always, the winner gets to go another round, much like myself in my situation. I can store them in a margarine tub until I can send them to Mars Candy Inc 6885 Elm St McLean VA 22101USA for models or breeding purposes or just keep them for personal strength. Anyhow, Juan Carlos, thanks for your kindness in these trying times, for some encouraging words and showing me a spot at your facility. Ill be seing you often, I hope

Comment: I just had the best storage rental experience with a representative named Val at A-American self storage in Santa Barbara conveniently located on Calle Cesar Chavez in the heart of everything SB and Montecito has to offer. At first glance the rates seemed competitive and the location hard to beat with great proximity to everything. The level of services is what set them apart from other area offerings. Val and JC helped me on separate occasions and their advice was seamlessly in line with what my unique situation and criteria limited me to. They were both extremely patient and supportive despite my changing circumstances. I was offered more options than I expected and they looked for ways to save me money and space and made the process anxiety-free. Nobody likes shuffling “stuff”. The energy, expense and stress are the worst. Come see Val or JC and you’ll be on east street. Can’t recommend enough.

I only used it for 1 day but paid for a month.Val, was especially helpful.I asked if I could possibly get some of my money back for not needing the unit in the end and he went to work right always and helped me out in a major way.I didn’t get it all back, but I did get some money back and that was so incredibly helpful as I was moving into a new apartment and the extra money was definitely great. Comment: We used A-American Self Storage starting in mid-September of this year to help us move items out of our home so that we could properly stage it for listing it for sale and open houses.We moved in during the middle of the month and very quickly realized our unit was way too small (my fault entirely - I opted for a 5 x 5 space thinking our stuff would fit in one...) and they easily accommodated us needing a bigger one.Everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful with the renting business end of things and when our movers came to use the unit and every part of our stay.Vacating was very easy too.I was happy with their service, the prices, the location, literally everything.If I ever need a storage unit in Santa Barbara again, I hope this company is still around!

Comment: Sam was absolutely amazing. My son rented the unit and we came to town to move some items for him. My husband is in a wheelchair and there is no disabled access for the upstairs units. When we arrived not realizing that he wouldn’t be able to get upstairs to get the unit, Sam didn’t even hesitate and moved all of the items out of the unit and loaded them into our van for us. I cannot express just how much it meant to us. Life in a wheelchair is hard, and it’s the little things like that which make everything better. Thank you Sam for being such a wonderful young man!

Large, spacious, plenty of storages of all sizes AND clean.But this review is about CS(customer service).Val and JC were, and Im sure still are, spectacular(to sound over melodramatic but true, nevertheless, about it) in how they dealt with their customers.....certainly with me.Always knowledgeable, kind and they have an uplifting disposition about themselves. Comment: Ive been there for 4 years. The staff are great but prices keep going up.Who is their corporate office kidding?? It is now almost completely surrounded by an ever growing waste treatment plant, and is right next to the fire departments new practice area. If you want to pay alot of money to choke on smoke and have everything you own smell like smoke and sewage this is the place for you!

Comment: I rented a unit here for 5 years. Great hours, but since 3 years ago I have been disappointed. The phone system didnt allow me to make payments because I needed a gate code yet this location does not have one. They also charge extra when paying over the phone. They also raise the rent EVERY year. A unit I originally had I paid 120 a month for, that same unit now goes for 165! Each year its an increase. The guys at the front desk are always friendly and helpful though, sad to have to say bye to them.

Comment: This place apparently has alot of people who have access to your information and can request your credit card information over the phone without applying any payment toward your storage fees. This, I find, quite disturbing and criminal, which shouldnt go unpunished.I called to make a payment via Green Dot Visa, which I just loaded $97.00 on. For some reason, the card came up declined after the representative of the company tried to run it for $94.00. In disbelief, I hung up the phone, and proceeded to call Green Dot to check the balance. Then I found out that the card had $0.01 remaining from the 97 that was on the card. The card company showed that it was just used, but dont give the specifics to where the card was used. Just says on the recording that it was used in Santa Barbara. I am in Texas, so there is no way possible that i used it there.I called the front desk at the facility, to try to get ahold of that same representative, but to find that they use a call center out of LA to handle the overflow of calls. The rep that answers this time explains that he is working at he front desk on the weekends and that the call center should not request a payment over the phone, but only should direct the call to the front desk for payment processing. I called 2 days later, after no response from them, and find all kinds of different information on payments over the phone, and finger pointing, while I still have my belongings in this facility and not knowing if it is even there at this point.Appears that I will have to make a trip out there to resolve this matter, due to the runaround game this company seems to think they can get away with. Hopefully this will not happen to anyone else, if I had a chance, I would have definetly taken my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same, to save alot of headaches.

Comment: My experience overall was very good. When Travis Self was the manager, he waved the 5.00 fee for cutting the lock of of my unit, when twice I forgot my key. He also quickly attended to a problem I had with ants. Afterward they never came back for almost 1 year. Also I thank J.C. and Luis for their kind and fair treatment. Unfortunately, a financial problem I had when I came here to San diego county, prevented me from keeping my unit. If I were to return there at some point in the future, I would again consider your facility. Goodbye to all there, and good luck!
