Comment: Asked for an insurance quote from Tito 9 days ago. No response so I called back in the morning and was promised by him it would be emailed right over within 5 minutes. 5 hours later no response, so I called again. All Apologies from Tito who promised I would have it in 5 minutes. Again NOTHING. Routed to westlake not the Santa Barbara office, ... and their system is designed so you CANNOT talk to anyone in charge to complain. Finally talked to John N (assuming he was not lying) who claimed to be Titos manager and told him to shred all information that I had provided from this obvious scan to get information but I doubt they did it. If this is the service they provide when trying to get your money I can only imagine how poor the service would be if I actually gave them the money! Is ZERO STARS allowed??

This might be their policy, but they dont tell you that. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you want to get insurance faster (and cheaper.)

They never answer your call, and if you come in person they promise all kinds of things that never happen. The manager seems to be nonexistent. Rates are overpriced. Big disappointment.

Comment: Its just fine. Ive been to more helpful AAA offices elsewhere in the country. This is not the best, but not the worst. They have a pretty small selection of maps and everything is kept behind the desk and you have to ask them for stuff. Perhaps its just the regional difference from the East to the West Coast. Perhaps its convenient to pay the bills in person, but most of us just do it online now. Sometimes the people are helpful, sometimes they arent - total gamble over the past 7 years... caveat emptor...

Will definitely visit again for DMV type requirements. Larger parking lot, but is located on a busy street, so traffic can be challenging at times during busier hours of the day.

Comment: We called in for service today to tow our car from Solvang at 1:43 and had to call back 4 to 5 times and still never got another guy to come out. The first guy came out and said that he was here and he called but he never had a call on my cell phone. It’s a sad thing when an 83-year-old lady had to sit here and worry about her car all day and all I tried to do is to help somebody out. I think that AAA should be ashamed of giving such poor service in such a small town where everyone knows each other hopefully they can get it together for the other people I’ve never had this problem with them before and it’s sad if this is how our world is becoming because there’s not enough drivers.

On Saturday May 1st, I was able to pay registration at AAA instead of the DMV considering 🤔 I would of missed the due date. So AAA came thru also, was able to check-in with a travel agent for vacay time later this month🤗❤️🙏 Thankful and Grateful to be a AAA member!

Comment: I simply cant get my membership fee refunded. It was taken twice on Sept 8, once as a recurring payment and once as over the phone. It was human error on their part. The recurring was set up after I made the payment with a real live human. It was set up for Srpt 2021 renewal. Ive called 5 times, starting the day after the error was made. I was assured my refund would arrive in 3-5 business days. Well its the 24th now, I was told on Monday this week it should go out that night. I finally stopped into the branch today and wow! It SHOULD go out tonight. Whatever. Ill take my car club, car and renter insurance elsewhere the second I receive my refund.

Comment: Everything is done outside currently. Understandable. However while waiting in the hot sun, 82° 25minutes, they dont provide any shade. That could have easily been done with a few canopies, umbrellas or easy-ups. Not understandable! Im disabled and only have one leg. When I asked if they had a chair I could sit on the young, able bodied woman said NO! Very abruptly. When I told her I had a hard time standing for very long she very curtly said, We dont have any chairs! Not understandable at all! They did help me with what I was there for but nothing else. Outside service, ok. Hot sun, no shade not ok. Not providing a seat for a disabled person not ok. Suggestion for AAA: provide shade and maybe have bottled water if someone needs it, provide seating for handicapped people if needed and fire that inconsiderate moron!

Comment: Do not use AAA travel. I was lead to believe that there were no charges for travel services except for booking airlines. That was not the case with my recent trip to Mexico. They used a 3rd party, Pleasant Mexico Holidays, to book my flight and hotel. Their services were unPleasant. That group charged me way more than if I booked myself. The hotels they chose were time shares that nickel and dime you for everything, no free internet. You can’t drink the water, so they put water in your rooms but charge you for it. They charge for coffee and pool towels etc. The restaurants and bars had subpar food and drinks. You cannot get a lounge by the pool because guests put their towels on the chairs at 6am. I would not be surprised if Pleasant holidays doesnt books these time share places because they get a kick back from them. The time share people constantly pester you to buy a time share or their other services. At one of the hotels, I was supposed to have a jr. suite for 5 days. The suite was on a very busy street, across from a fair. The 4th floor room had no elevator. Also, they provided the wrong travel locator for the airlines reservations. The bottom line is book your own travel. You will not be pleased with AAA free services.

Also,they raise auto insurance, because, your home insurance has been cancelSo i cancel the auto insurance and I have to pay early cancellation fee.... about 600 dollarwhen i sign the contract they never explains 12 percent cancellation fee.I will never use AAA again

Comment: Agent sold me car and home insurance. I cancelled both of these when I moved to another area. Agent did NOT disclose that car insurance had 12% early cancellation fee attached to the car policy if the policy was cancelled before one year either when I purchased the policy or when I cancelled it. Thus I could not understand why the refund check was about $130 short. After several phone calls to AAA I was finally told the truth. I was being charged a surcharge for cancelling early.Yes - there is a small paragraph about this on the last page of the glossy booklet they give out. The Manager of Santa Barbara AAA has been called several times to try to issue a refund check. He does not return phone calls. Beware of taking out insurance with AAA Santa Barbara - all smiles and pleasantness when they want your business but NO customer service if you try to cancel policies.

Comment: They offer you *free renters insurance* when you are getting a car insurance with them, the agent pretends to be nice so you say ok after listening to the blabber for a while. However what they dont tell you is that if you will receive a bill to make payment for the so called free renters insurance, and if you decide to cancel it you will later receive another $89 bill in mail for your CAR INSURANCE!! They so badly need a few more bucks apparently, whether you pay it as renters insurance, or we will put it on your car insurance anyway. However, the business is very nasty as they never tell you these two insurances are related in any way.When you complain about this shady business model at AAA Santa Barbara, the agents turn out rude, cheap and not helpful.

Comment: I had a problem with the registration of one of my vehicles so I went online and made an appointment at the DMV. My appointment was made for 4 days later at 10 a.m. I arrived 20 minutes early and walked through the door and was stunned by seeing 20 people in line ahead of me and no where to check in for my appointment. After 10 minutes of waiting in line and only 2 people assisted from the line ahead of me, I left and went to AAA on State St. I walked in the door, explained my issue and was helped and out of there in 20 minutes. The woman who assisted me was knowledgeable and very kind. If you have AAA, dont even bother with the DMV, to straight to AAA. They offer such great services!!

Comment: Auto club is a great program if you can afford it. The ability to file dmv forms etc at their office pays for itself! Add in complemenary towing ( can be upgraded) and its a really great value. SKIP. DMV. I repeat, SKIP DMV!!

Comment: People Beware!I went to get my registration as I moved to CA. They came up with $500 I have to pay for it.As I had no enough cash with me ( I thought it will be max $300) I went home for some more.Meantime I checked online how much is the registration as I felt the 500 was way too much!!So online I found out it is $275 for my 5 year old car. I went back and asked them and showed the guy the printed sheet. He was like: I don’t even look at this! And he went back and forth and wanted to give me a $50 break. Plus he had a nasty attitude, telling me that yes, thats the best if you go to dmv...So I got really pissed and went to dmv where I payed $275. So be careful when its time to pay, looks like they working for commission! :))I never go back there! Ever!

Comment: They came right out, 5 minutes tops! We were stuck in the shoulder on the fast lane. They called a Highway Patrolman to stop the traffic in the All the lanes, so we could get over the 4 lanes to the right side of the freeway. The AAA man was funny, pleasant, respectful, & nice. He took us 90 miles back to our mechanic and was a total gem!

Comment: After dozens of attempts over the past 3 months to have my mortgage lienholder added to my AAA homeowners insurance, my mortgage lender bought insurance for my home loan and charged me $2,500.00. I already paid AAA for homeowner insurance but because AAA refused to call back, or communicate with me in any way about adding the mortgage holder, I ended up paying for the same cover twice from two different companies for the homeowners coverage. In October I went into the Santa Barbara AAA office and spoke with the insurance rep, Mike, and he assured me he would take care of adding the mortgage holder to my policy. He didnt. Then on Nov 29 AAA cancelled my home owners because they couldnt take pictures of my property. An agent from the Santa Barbara AAA branch came and took pictures the first week of November! With service like this, I cancelled ALL my AAA insurance (autos and motorcycles). I went with State Farm (cheaper, by the way) and now I am trying to get my mortgage holder to cancel their insurance and issue me a partial refund. Geeze. So far, this whole ordeal has cost me an extra $2,500.00, that I should not have had to spend, plus 3 months of anguish, worry, and hours of wasted time and effort. Thanks to Krista at State Farm on Fairview in Goleta for the excellent service and expedient binding for my home and autos (plus she contacted my mortgage holder immediately) :-)

Comment: I have my homeowners and car insurance here. Happy with both but it is getting more difficult to do insurance business there as they do want you to do it online more and more. Travel services requires still good. Overall Im still happy and I do get enough AAA discounts to still make it worth it. We also have used their battery service which is overpriced but super convenient because they come to you.

Comment: Afraid I have to second how terrible AAA is in Santa Barbara.Have been a 35 year member but when I finally called for the first time for a tow,the driver declined. Had to hire a private tow for $150.Try complaining? That means being put on hold FOR DAYS or simply getting a BUSY SIGNAL

While I was there, they gave me a quote on insuring with them and the quote was very competitive with what were currently paying. All three employees with whom I interacted were outstandingly helpful.

Comment: I have been a member of AAA for a few years now. I bought several policies with them and recently I needed to purchase two more policies but they refused to insure me without a cause. I tried several times to have them give me a justifiable reason why they wouldnt insure my property but they kept sending me to different people. I tried several times via telephone and in person at the SB office but after several (4 weeks) attempts I finally gave up and terminated all my policies with AAA and went to Allstate instead. I had homeowners, renters, renters earthquake, and auto policies with them. I figured if they are giving me the runaround and not answering my questions, I would have had the same problem if I ever needed to file a claim. Their service at the Santa Barbara office is the worst I have ever experienced. Everyone I spoke to at the SB office was very unprofessional and rude. I am glad to say that I am now part of the Allstate family and I feel secured and comfortable. Good bye AAA

Comment: I am a 19 year member of AAA automobile club of Southern California. I stopped in the office today to change my address for vehicle registration. They refused and said I could do it online and handed me a form with over 100 lines to complete. When I pressed they said I could lie and say that I lost the form I was holding in my hand and then pay a $20 fee to get it replaced. While I was at it I could change my address. How helpful. So I gave up and left the auto club. I went to DMV.GOV and created an account which required every personal piece of information a hacker would desire. I have now been in the process of updating this information on-line for 70 minutes including a call to the DMV help line (1 hour wait time). In the past I have always recommended to friends to avoid the DMV and just join the auto club. But now the auto club refuses to provide basic DMV services you might as well save your annual membership dues. I will no longer recommend the California Auto club.
