Out of all the scrap yards I have been to, Admiral Metals is by far the most convenient. Even though I have moved farther away, I still come here for the great customer service and ease of process. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have never had a piece of metal give me a flat tire here either as the workers tend to keep the driving lanes clear of debris. They always give the best price for scrap and they have Saturday hours. They go out of their way to keep customers happy. Thank you Admiral!!!!
These guys are fantastic. Great to see a family owned business doing things right. Scrap yards can be tough places to get honest answers, but my experience today at admiral metals proves some places think differently. This place has obviously grown a lot since I last was here (about 8 years ago) and it is easy to see why. Brandon at the weigh-in scale was knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and did a great job explaining things as he weighed and processed my metal. The pricing was fantastic, much better than I expected, and I think that is because they do a lot of processing work in house. (I watched some guys tear down my scrap before I left.) they didn’t charge me extra for this, they paid me a great price. Also, I brought in a small sample of an exotic alloy, which they happily analyzed with an XRF analyzer for free. I’ve been to a lot of scrap yards, and they all do some version of what I described here, but this place does it 10x as good. 6 stars out of 5.
I never write reviews. I really felt like I should this time.... Everyone there is kind, happy, and easy to talk to. From the owner, to the guy directing me, to the guy helping me unload, and the guy processing the scrap inside.... They are happy and polite. Seriously going to be the only place I deal with. Keep up the good work. Just being polite and understanding goes a long way.
Just went back to Admiral Metals because my local scrap yard closed. Its been almost 10 years since I was at admiral and my experience back then was not as good as last week. First the place is 100% cleaner than it was years ago. I remember the parking lot being a mine field of parts that destroy any military tire. Second was the staff. Very nice and willing to talk and help. Again the worn out staff they had years ago seemed on the edge of postal if you know what I mean. In any case could not be happier with this visit and I am impressed with how far they have come. Thanks to all the staff at Admiral, keep up the good work.
See update below my initial review!-=-=-=-=-I go here just often enough that people seem to recognize me and the guy running the scale can almost remember my name with a little prompting. So Im not their most frequent peddler, but I probably visited 20-ish times last year. When I first started my scrapping hobby, I came here because it was the closest place. This was perhaps 10 years ago or maybe more. At that time, they didnt have a truck scale, so you had to load your material into a container, which they would then tote by hi-lo over to a scale and weigh. It was much more physical effort to do business with them than their main competitors, and their prices were often just a tiny bit less than other places too. I went elsewhere.Fast forward through ten years of hobby-level scrapping and going to other places. One day a year or so ago, I had a load I needed to flip quickly, and I decided to give these guys another try. Im glad I did. The yard has been reorganized, theyve invested in a truck scale, and theyve taken the business to the next level. They are now at par, or at better than par with their competitors in terms of the layout of the yard and their equipment. After witnessing all of the crackheads, thieves, and neer-do-wells at the other places I was going to (and thats just the employees! You should see the peddlers!) coming to Admiral is now my first choice, rather than my last. If theyre a penny less per pound on the material, its money I would have spent in fuel going further away anyway, so as long as theyre close in price, its not much of a deciding factor. I dont feel like Im risking getting into a gunfight in the parking lot like at some of the other places; thats a definite plus! And the staff is uniformly polite and helpful.-=-=-Update 04-JUNE-2019This morning I visited with a load of shred and aluminum. After talking with the owner, Elliot, last month he told me that he had read my review and they were in the process of making changes to the yard to improve safety. Today I got to see the changes firsthand, and they were exactly as promised! Now the scrap peddlers are directed to the area opposite from the big shred pile and all of the heavy equipment. Instead of turning left off the scale you now turn right. The area you back your vehicle onto is paved with a combination of concrete and heavy plate steel -- a major upgrade from the muddy slurry the other side of the yard experiences after the rain weve been having.Best of all, the heavy equipment is located safely away from the unloading area. The unloading area had a modest pile of shred which I assume they relocate to the other side at the end of the day when nobody is in harms way.Kudos to Elliot and his team for recognizing a safety problem and taking positive action to fix it! Im pleased to do business with them knowing they value the opinion of their peddlers and care about their safety on site. Five stars guys! You ARE my scrap yard. Thank you!
Normally, we are in and out and are always treated fairly. Today, unfortunately, we had an encounter with one of the employees who began throwing a fit that we were not parked in the proper place. It would be one thing if we were asked nicely to move, or if we were parked in a spot that had a no parking sign. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but I can easily take my business elsewhere if thats how youd like to treat clients that come in on a regular basis.
Today was my first visit to Admiral Metals today and I was 100% glad I chose them. I have dealt with other area recycling companies in the past and I usually have to deal with crabby employees that dont care about helping you because they dont want to work there. The employees at Admiral were very nice, accommodating, helpful and honestly pleasant to deal with. I will be doing all my recycling at Admiral from now on. Give your employees a pat on the back because they deserve it!
Response to the owners question on what Admiral can do to improve:1. One of your managers (I think his name is Elliott), after finding our where I worked, used to offer me bribes if I could get my company to bring its scrap to Admiral. He did this on two separate occasions.2. If my weight is ever fluctuating, your weighmaster consistently hits the low end of my weight on weigh-in and high end on weigh-out. You guys never miss a beat.So to answer your question in a sentence, Be more ethical.
A dear friend of mine passed away in June of this year. His wife (the surviving spouse) decided once and for all to clean up the basement and garage. Of course this undertaking did result in a number of items to be discarded and thrown to the curb. Having limited resources but lots of time at the moment I offered to explore the opportunity of returning a large number of replaced household items such as - a number of sinks, garbage disposal, enormous treadmill, a campfire burning pit, doors, overhead lamps, and a number of rusty & old car parts. The folks at Admiral were exceptionally helpful to me. They helped me determine the aluminum items versus steel and even helped me unload the treadmill base which I put at least 225 pounds or more. Not being a scraper or very familiar with such things I felt they were very honest and showed a caring concern to the customer. The amount of items returned did not result in significant dollars ($55) but the prompt, honest, and helpful service I felt was significant. Just want to give credit where credit is due and send a Thank You to the folks at Admiral Metals LLC. JJG.

2022-03-23Your Cousin Nikolai, is noob to the scrap metal scene, indeed, and was more than impressed by the professional operation, taking place in this hidden gem to the Scrap Metal Community. Upon arriving with a 1-Ton Van full of various materials, your Cousin Nikolai was a bit bewildered on how to proceed in this well organized operation, as it was quite apparent that everyone else knew their place and just where to go. But, before becoming anxiety ridden with pressure to not look like noob, your Cousin Nikolai was approached and greeted by one of the many friendly employees, who directed you Cousin Nikolai on just what to do, and where to go. Making the first time experience at the legendary Admiral Metals, LLC, very efficient and accommodating, indeed. Your Cousin Nikolai, will be telling all his cousins to check out this most excellent place to scrap metal, no doubt!Bye for now...

2021-02-25Take it from a guy who knows customer service...This is the place to come to.For such a rough type industry, these guys are genuinely nice guys.I waited for a call from the big boss for a price on a item.As I waited, the other customers that had there materials ready for pay were treated as politely as I was while waiting. The price was way fair.Thank you!
