Recently rescued our puppy Kaya (formerly Cady) from here last week. The whole experience was amazing! Her foster mom was able to give me so much information on her, her history, and I loved the low stress introductory environment for her and my other dog.I had been applying to so many shelters that took over a week to respond...and by then the dog I was interested in would be gone. I was about to give up until I saw Kaya and sent an inquiry. Someone responded within the day to set up a meet and greet. They were personable and provided tons of helpful info during the adoption process. We are so glad we adopted Kaya from Adopt a Pet. Highly recommend them!
Adopted our first puppy there Sir Kingston (Originally named Azure). We had him for about a month before he became Ill and after a few vet visits of thinking he ate something he had congentatal kidney disorder. We later that day had to put him down at 11 weeks. A day later we decided to go to the rescue and donate the remains of his food and too let them know what happened so they could let the owners of his siblings know what happened because it was hereditary so any of his siblings could lve had the same thing. What happened next still warms my heart to this day. All of the ladies and the manager who worked with dogs felt bad for what had happened as a few had been with him when he was first born. They had let us have our choose of any puppy/dog in the recipe for free, All we had to pay for was the medical payments from our next puppy Liberty(Day). She was a survivor of puppy parvo and we still have her to this day. We hope to bring her back up to the rescue soon to see her foster recue home. I cant thank adopt a pet enough for what they have did. Thank you!(Sir Kingston is the beagle with the most pictures)(Liberty is the black doge)
They had great staff, and very welcoming environment. The only reason I give it a three Star is because if your interested in an animal but have to wait a few days to pay them its not guaranteed that you get the animal. Very kind workers. I recently bought a kitten from them after having spent time with him in the kitten room.
Very caring organization doing a great service for our community and adopting out rescue pets. We adopted a small kitten that was 3 months old we were able to sit with the animals as long as we wanted to pick out the right fit for our family. Kittens name is Janis Joplin.
I emailed on Thursday evening for a dog I wanted and she emailed me back that it was first come first serve. This was at 5:00 when they closed. After that I wanted to look at the dog again. When I went online it said this dog has been adopted. I looked to see who adopted it and it said me! I was so happy. The next day I tried to get there right when they opened but there was an accident on M23 so I was 20 minutes late. She said they already adopted my dog out that he had been adopted yesterday. I said that was me! She said sorry someone took him today. I cannot begin to tell you how much this hurt. I thought he was mine. It said he was mine online. I signed up to donate to adopt a pet every month but after that I cancelled it and decided hell with them.
They were very very helpful and thorough! Down to asking their names and what they were used to eating. Living on a dead end road we get a lot of drop offs...especially during these troubled times. ADOPT-A-PET was more than willing to help find homes for some babies i just didnt have room for. Their physility was awesome with indoor and outdoor areas for the animals to play. I would strongly recommend them for adopting...vet care ... or for and animal you have rescued. 😊💞
Adopt-A-Pet has a great place to have an animal spayed or neutered theyre very reasonably priced and they do a phenomenal job. I just had a female Doberman fixed there shes doing great. Their vet is very thorough. She noticed some dry skin and sent us home with meds for that.
I adopted a kitten here on Saturday and the entire experience was great. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, they really care about each animals individual needs. The facility is very clean and organized, with plenty of places for the cats to play and climb. The adoption process was thorough, they gave me all her vet papers as well as a few helpful instructions, like how to kitten proof your home. I was given all the information about her food and litter type, and also received a sample of her food to take home with me. Kelly was amazing and super sweet. I would recommend anyone to adopt a pet here. If I lived closer, I would probably volunteer.
Went there and looked at the adult cats, didnt see a fit so we went and looked at the dogs. We were interested in a dog but had to wait to see how they were with cats. While we were there one of the workers said my 3 yr old autistic son punched her and hit her, and that he threw things. Which all he did was bump into her playing. And DID NOT throw anything. They told us we wouldnt be able to adopt an animal because of him. Mind you he did nothing to the animals, he was excited to see them and pet them because animals CALM him. Will never adopt or recommend them to anyone.
I adopted my dog here. She had some health problems and needed treatments for a few months. The staff at the hospital was so good to me and my dog. Im very thankful for all that they did. My dog is happy and healthy now! Everyone that I dealt with at Adopt A Pet was so caring and kind.
Great place to find a furry addition to your family. They take their adoptions very seriously and ask a ton of questions. Some may not be a fan of that, but it is a true testament to how much they care about their animals. We got our dog Mason (Mace) as a puppy and he will be 4 in November and we are still very grateful to adopt a pet Fenton for the experience. Hoping to add another pretty soon and Adopt a Pet Fenton will be our first, and hopefully last, stop.
I have extremely mixed feelings about this place. I got my first dog here at age 13. They asked $300 for him. Which seems so high since it’s a non profit. Luckily they dropped it down to $100 even though I would’ve still payed the $300 for this angel. The second time we fell in love with two dogs in the same exact room we found our first dog in. The story kept changing between employees, about the dogs background. They were only there for 3 days so I needed to bring them back to get their teeth cleaned. NEVER did they tell me that I needed to not let them eat or drink a certain amount of time before anesthesia. Luckily and unfortunately they sent me home that day because they “didn’t have time” to clean there teeth however they told me to pick them up at 4pm and I dropped them off at 7am that morning. THEN they explained to me the procedure of not feeding them. I love my pets dearly but for the love of god be more professional and keep your stories straight. This is for the animals not for you.Adopting from them:They have NO problem separating BONDED pets. Thankgod I got my two before they were going to be separated like my first one I adopted there. He was separated from his 2 other siblings. THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE!
A wonderful place to find your next fur baby! Prompt responses to inquiries, knowledgeable and friendly staff, very reasonable prices, an overall great experience! Tip: if youre interested in a specific pet and youre driving from far away, call ahead and let them know. Sometimes theyll let you have first dibs on a pet, though if you email, they say they wont.
I took my girl scout troop there to donate supplies and take a tour. We ended up coming home with our wonderful new addition to our family. Leonardo the ninja turtle or as we call him Leo or cute orange kitten. We love him to pieces already. Our dog may love him even more. He cant wait to play with him though hes being very patient with the new baby. I am so glad we picked them as our guide back this year as we really needed a kitten we just didnt know it :)
Adopted a beautiful dog from them, and while the overall experience wasnt bad, finding info out after the fact was difficult at best. They gave her heart worm medication, but still have yet to tell me if she was ever tested for heart worm after 2 calls and a promised return call, still nothing. Oh, and she had Kennel cough. Its a great facility with helpful and informative staff. They did just call me back and have taken care of the issue. So kudos to Adopt A Pet!!
Given the current lockdown, everything went well, we went to see a dog that didnt mesh well with our current dog and they helped us to find another one that fit our family 😀 👍. Would recommend it to anyone ! Super friendly and helpful staff, the animals all looked healthy and well cared for
Recently drove 75 miles and adopted our new family member here (dog). Super-nice staff, clean and well-equipped facility. Thinking about getting a buddy for him - will go here first! They treat the animals here with so much love and care! More people should adopt, especially at Adopt-A-Pet!
The animals looked clean, happy and well cared for. They had food, water, treats and toys to play with. Soft comfortable blankets to lay on. Cubbies to play in or to be by themselves in if they choose to be. For the most part most of the animals looked very happy. The cats had a caged place outside so that they could be outside but with the benefits that no animal could hurt them or get at them.
Very professional environment, all animals in their care are well taken care of, medically, emotionally, etc. They ask the right questions and care a great deal about all the pets they have in their facility. All in all, very impressed and incredibly happy to have a kitten from there!!
I started emailing this organization in the hopes of having my dog spayed back in the beginning of December. I sent an email with my dogs vaccination records and application as soon as possible and when I got a response it seemed it was going to be an instant challenge for something that should be simple enough to set up with a reputable place. Once the person I was emailing finally seemed to be able to get my information they seemed to have trouble with the fact that my dog was a mixed breed. When I explained to them the adoption agency she was from and why she was somehow not a purebred I was never given another response. needless to say I found a much more reliable and professional clinic to go to.
We adopted our puppy here six months ago and love her, but weve had some experiences with Adopt-A-Pet since then that I felt warranted a review.First, our puppys vaccination records from the facility were incorrect. They showed vaccines given on dates after we had brought her home. When I questioned this I was told that someone onsite reported that our puppy had been brought back to Adopt-A-Pet for the vaccines, which wasnt true. We live an hour away and neither my husband or I had made the trip to take our puppy back to Adopt-A-Pet. They wouldnt change the record because whoever was onsite insisted they saw our dog for the vaccinations.Second, our adoption was contingent on bringing our puppy back to Adopt-A-Pet for cherry eye surgery and spay. We did this as scheduled about five months ago. This week our puppy developed a serious ulcer on the eye that received the surgery. We took her to a specialist who found that her stitches from the surgery were still in the eye and have been scratching her cornea for months. We were told by Adopt-A-Pet that the stitches were dissolvable and that we wouldnt need to return to their facility. I called Adopt-A-Pet yesterday to let them know about this error and encouraged them to notify others who may be at risk. Both issues have posed unnecessary health risks to our dog which is not what we or Adopt-A-Pet want, and I hope they revise their practices no other pet is harmed.
This shelter is wonderful! We got our baby about about a month and a half ago and we couldn’t be happier. They are taking excellent care of their kitties. Our cat Princey passed away in January and we didn’t want another cat. We were just too upset. But our daughter kept asking for another cat so my husband and I talked about it and decided since her birthday was coming we decided to surprise her with one. I found “Goldilocks” through Petfinder and sent my husband a text with her pic while he was at work and he said she’s gorgeous. So I called Adopt-a-Pet immediately. We came to meet her two days later. She was very shy and wanted to be near her sister. We were a little worried about her coming around when we brought her home but it only took her a couple days and she quickly came to love us. Even our 9 year old Golden Retriever loves her. She has filled our hearts with so much love and has helped us heal from our Princey that we miss terribly. Our daughter did rename her Violet. Thank you so much to Adopt-a-Pet. I’ll definitely recommend them.
They are one of the best shelters around. They are a non kill shelter, the staff works hard to find the right match for each and every animal. They go to great distances to help out other shelters and rescues. They care greatly for each and every animal that comes through there doors.
I drove all the way from Jackson to get my little min-pincher Hershey. I have had her now for several months and I wanted to let you know she is such a sweet little dog. We absolutely have fallen in love with her and are very glad we found her at your facility. Thank you again.
They decide what pet is best for based on THEIR needs. After two visits they decided that because I did not have other pets or children to consider I would be a great fit for one of their older difficult to place pets and would ONLY adopt to me a younger one if I took an older one as well. So I could not adopt anything. First visit they told me they would not hold the pet I was interested in so I would have to get in right away once they go up for adoption however when I got there nice and early they told me they were holding it for someone else. That is when I tried to adopt another pet from the same litter and they decided to throw in the second, older, pet stipulation. Poorly run.
Been there several times now found the perfect puppy for my family with two kids and they told us the puppy was better with a family with no kids! After two hours of waiting but WAIT little did we know the shadiness of it all because they adopted him to an employee that wanted him, and told the director he wanted the puppy who probably got paid by him btw..Shame on you Adopt a pet.
Adopts pets from underneath you to people who work or volunteer there first. Not happy with how they attempt at running a shelter. We have been there over 5 times to adopt with excuses given each time as to why not. Dont waste your time with this place as thats all you will be doing in the long run.

2022-04-15Everyone here is absolutely wonderful. Honest, up-front and genuine animal lovers. They gave us every bit of information they had on our new boy and we couldnt be happier with Harry. He has been the sweetest boy and so loving. They take care of the animals they have there and only want the best homes for them. You all are wonderful and I can not recommend you all enough! ❤️

2022-02-20The staff was great, welcoming and worked with us to find our pup! The info pages on each dog were put together well and included knowledge of dogs behavior towards kids and cats which is a big plus compared to other shelters. We also got to be with each dog we wanted to see one on one and told as much history of the dogs as they had. We found the place clean and organized. The adoption questions were reasonable and thorough but did not take extensive time. We enjoyed our time there and the adoption website that shows digital records as a back up and we can add pictures of our new addition!

2022-04-17We met Anthony/Beau now in July last year! He was the perfect puppy for us, though we have had our share of costly vet visits because he eats everything and is way to happy, he fits right in with our family! Place was clean and very full last year but the process was quick and thorough! Wish we had more information on his breed because he grew to be a horse!
