Took my 2003 Chevy pick up. Truck needed lots of repairs. Great place, trust worthy, professional.
Honest, fair, and very knowledgeable. I have been using their services for many years and have always been very satisfied.
They worked tirelessly to get my car done before the weekend for a fair price.
The guys there did a great job. Timely with their work and was able to have my car in and out within a few days.
This shop is always a little busy (Because they do great work) - but almost always able to get me in within two days. If it is an emergency, they find a way to do it sooner. I try to do all of my maintenance needs here because it builds a relationship and they keep solid records. An ounce of prevention can save you a pound of time, trouble and pain down the road (literally).
This is the second time I’ve used them. 2 different cars with 2 different issues. The most recent time I took my Cadillac XTS in to have rear wheel bearings and struts all the way around replaced. Needless to say struts for this car are extremely expensive but Aaron was able to get the overall cost down by close to $1500. Don’t get me wrong it was still a high overall cost but at another shop it would have been at least that much more. They did an excellent job with the repairs and kept me in the loop the entire time which I very much appreciated. Overall fantastic job!!
They’re honest and fair but most importantly they know what they’re doing and get it done right the first time
Not happy with work they did on my truck. My locking 4x4 hubs were frozen and to loosen them, they must have taken a big pair of pliers and mashed up the plastic lock hubs. They look chewed up. I would have hoped they would have found a better way to do it. This is not their usual work.
Service and staff were super nice and very attentive...special shout out to Aaron for answering all of our questions. We took the car in for an estimate and diagnosis on what might be causing some shuddering for a 2012 Toyota Camry in the 40-45mph range. Aaron was quite detailed in the work that was performed to check on our concerns.Would definitely recommend if youre needing a mechanic and work on the car!
Engine running rough with a broken exhaust and they had it fixed in less than a day. Car runs like new.
These guys were great. I was buying a used car nearby and they did my inspection as well as repairs last minute. Helped me out in a pinch. Really appreciate the speed, honesty, and professionalism they showed me. Highly recommend!
They got my car in on short notice and finished before the quoted time. Good prices and friendly staff! They checked out the rest of my car and told me some minor issues to be aware of but didn’t push me to buy anything or fix any of it which was awesome. I hate feeling pressured and they seem to genuinely care about your safety and awareness rather than your money. Highly recommend.
Honest service, very respectful, professional and moderately priced. I own a Subaru Legacy 2012 and have had some issues in past years, was largely ripped off by “certified dealers” whose repairs would conveniently last a month or two after the warranty expiration. A friend referred me to this place and I’ve been very satisfied with their work and service. They do appreciate their customers, too, and in one occasion they didn’t charge me for a small repair. They had repaired my car couple months before (over $3000 worth of work) and even though this issue (faulty thermostat) didn’t have anything to do with their previous repairs or wasn’t the result of anything wrong they did, they still fixed it for free.
They got my car in same day - they did what they said they would do - my car is running beautifully and they did it in less time than I expected. I was actually referred her by another place in town that has a stellar reputation - I will return!!They give honest assessments - usually includes critical - watch - and plan for in the near future.

Overall great! Reasonable prices on parts. Labor was a bit more than i expected. So Value 4/5. Pretty quick turnaround considering how many vehicles they had working. Friendly and porfessional service from A.a.ron at the front desk, went the extra mile, literally, to make sure it was running smoothly.
They did an absolutely amazing job putting a new clutch in my mustang. Great price and very honest and genuine. I don’t trust many to work on my car and they did a great job. Didn’t try to sell anything that I didn’t need. Very accommodating.
I took my ‘19 Mitsubishi Outlander here Friday. I’m always a little weary going to automotive shops without a guy accompanying me because let’s face it: I’m a woman who doesn’t know anything about engines. I have gotten ripped off at other places so many times, have sunk thousands of dollars in “repairs”. Going here was the best decision I have ever made when it came to my cars needs. The crew was friendly and quick to fixing my car. Aaron was the guy who helped me out at the front of the store. He was extremely polite and his customer service was top notch. He put me at ease and treated me like a valued customer. I was very impressed by his service and the quality of care the crew gave my vehicle. No dirty handprints on the steering wheel, no lingering cigarette smell in the car when I got it back. Thank you very much, y’all. I will definitely be back!
Cameron and his staff are great. We own a small home improvement business. Our trucks are used hard. Advanced always fits us in their schedule and performs high quality work. Recommend them to anyone needing automotive repair and maintenance.
My experience was incredible - but not in a good way. This review will be the short version, as most of what I have to say will be filed with my complaint to the Michigan Department of State. I brought my vehicle in to diagnose and fix a loud humming sound. After spending more than a house payment on repairs, when I picked up my vehicle, the humming sound was still very obviously present (did no one test drive it?) I called the shop and was told to bring it back in as soon as possible, to which I obliged. My expectation was that my vehicle would be prioritized, considering the time and money already spent. It took over two business days for them to call back and inform me they found the issue, and a third business day (in which I had to miss work for) to resolve it. When I picked up my vehicle the second time, I was pleased to find the issue had been resolved, but my dashboard read 0 miles to empty. This led me to one of two conclusions: either the shop doesnt keep any gas on hand (doubtful,) or theyre negligent, and dont have their customers best interest in mind.I used this shop in the past with my previous vehicle and was always pleased with the service, but this was my first visit in several years, and will also be my last.
I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Shoddy work and billing practices. Took vehicle to this place 3 months ago to overpay for front end alignment,Tie rod ends and bushings along with rear brake pads. Paid over $1400 for work they said was completed and vehicle was safe.after retrieving car and driving home which is less than a mile I notice front wheel bearing noise. Park car and save money to get this issue addressed. 3 months later Take vehicle back for requested work be done to front right wheel bearing issue. Now I am told I need front end alignment and tie rod ends for $1600 on a vehicle they had already said repairs had been done previously by them, to which I told them I had no confidence in them and would take my car to a more reputable establishment, when I went to get vehicle I am told I owe them $110 for a unrequested point check to which they are basically admitting they did shoddy work the first appointment. When I stated they put me at risk if I continued to drive car under their assurance it was safe that I didnt think it fair I should pay for their shortcomings. To which they said they would keep my vehicle and not return it to me. After I paid their ransom I asked how did they do an alignment on a vehicle with bad wheel bearings and un repaired tie rod ends and bushings and was told they did not like my tone of disgust. Buyer beware and do not expect more than shoddy work and shady billing practices.
Not sure of their service they were too busy to even look at my vehicle for two weeks
I have been very pleased with Advanced Automotive. They do good work and have been very candid in assessing whether a particular repair is necessary, is worthwhile given the age and condition of my car, and any other possible options. They also give accurate and realistic estimates of the cost as well as the time needed to do a repair, and are quick to notify me if a repair will be more expensive or take longer than expected. The staff are polite and friendly. Highly recommended.
At one point in time 5-star with quality customer service and reasonable price giving hometown local feel. I did all my oil changes and services with them. Was surprised at both pricing and attitude towards customer recently. Prices now wildly unreasonable- liken to many chain shops, particularly those linked to gas station trying to pass fee onto customer. Im not sure if theyre trying to make up for Covid but inflating prices is not going to sit well with repeat customers. Unfortunately, last visit with these guys! Sad to say.
Very knowledgeable on my Ford Focus. They got my service done in a timely manner and were very respectful and understanding.
Saved my butt! I was crossing the country in a convoy of 3 when my truck broke down. They understood my emergency, so they found a way to work me in, diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly and effectively. I was impressed by their immediate knowledge about the particular engine of my unique repurposed AT&T utility vehicle, and their customer service even in this chaotic situation was great too. If I wasnt just passing through, this would be my local mechanic, no question.
We recently had AA install a thermostat, do a tuneup + oil change, and rear brake job. They always do a great job and weve never had trouble or questions they couldnt answer. We trust them, and thats what is totally needed from an auto service business. Highly recommend them.
About a year ago, our dealership told me we needed new brakes. I decided to take our vehicle to Advanced Automotive for an oil change, and have them check the brakes while it was there. They told me the brakes still had good life on them, and there was no reason to replace them at that time.I have been going there ever since with all 3 of our vehicles, and have been met with honesty, quality, and professionalism each and every time.They are up front with their estimates, and will prioritize your repairs if you have any that need to be done.Assuming they keep this up (and I have no reason to believe otherwise), they have a customer for life!
They were pretty helpful and offered a lot of different service and advice. The oil change was definitely slower than I would have liked and they overstated a bit how low my brake pads were. I knew they were low and knew they needed to be changed, but they made it seem like there was no pad left. I decided to change them myself to save a bit and only one pad was very low, but not at the point of immediate failure like they said it could. I get theyre trying to make business, but i think they were trying to make sure i had the service done without waiting too long.Overall Id go back and recommend them, just make sure youve got a bit of knowledge about your cars maintenance level, as you should whenever you take your car in for service.
Overdue for brakes, air conditioning leaking refridgerant and starter missing sporatically. All issues repaired, Took a bit longer than expected but work done professionally. Not the least expensive game in town but have never had problems with their workmanship.
We brought our company vehicle to replace an alternator. Advanced Automotive did a fantastic job! They were very skillful in diagnosing what the problem is compared to two other places that we brought to earlier in the week. The guys are great! They arent out to get you with things you really dont need done. Super honest and always do great work! They really take the time to answer you questions! I highly recommend!
While very friendly on the phone and in person, in both of my visits for basic services (alignment, injector service, tire balancing), they have *vastly* under-estimated the time commitment, upon which I make a decision to wait (with children) or have the car dropped off. Their rates for tire balancing are double what they charge at Belle tire down the road and the tech wanted to put directional tires on incorrectly. I make time estimates in my own work and it always better to overestimate so the customer can plan appropriately.
I have been using Advanced Automotive exclusively for all of my cars maintenance and repairs for years. They are extremely honest and do great work. In all of the work they have done for me I have never had to take the car back for a problem after they had worked on the car. A couple of times I priced a job with the dealer before I had Advanced Automotive do the work and they were substantially less expensive. I never hesitate to recommend Jason and Cameron to all of my friends.
Went in for an oil change I got on Groupon, which was fine. Staff made me aware that I had some suspension issues and quoted me ~ $1600 for the fix. I got a second opinion with my usual mechanics because I had not experienced any bumpy rides, noises, or issues with the suspension and was suspicious. As suspected my mechanic said the car had some wear on the suspension but was still safe to drive and saw no fluid leaking that I was warned about here. My people also quoted me about ~$900 for the same work. Pretty obvious they were trying to upsell me and take advantage of my lack of car knowledge. Very unfortunate experience, would not recommend to others.Edit: Yes I am sure it was your shop. See photo.
The guys at Advanced Automotive have worked on my family vehicles for many years. They kept my last car going for 350,000 miles! Their charges are exceptionally reasonable and their service is great. What I like best about them is their honesty - they wont sell you a new part if they can repair or clean the one you have!
I bought a Groupon for an oil change here. It was my first time using advanced automotive and transmission. I was very pleased with their customer service and they completed my oil change quickly. I will be using them again.
Not only are they polite and professional, they are honest. This is very hard to find at an auto repair place. I took my Honda to them for a second opinion. They saved me $1700. If you are looking for an honest and reliable mechanic, look no further. Highly recommend.
Eric was extremely helpful. I was returning from Lansing and hoped for someone to check my car. He told me to come in, identified my problem, and had me back on the road quickly. I have used Advanced for over a decade and always found them to be friendly, effective, knowledgeable, honest, and reasonably priced. I wouldn’t use anyone else.

Used a groupon for an oil change and paid for a tire rotation. Got done in an hour, just like the man said, and service was good. No pushiness on additional service needed, just documented and let me know whats needed next. Great experience and Ill come back again (Helps theres a good coffee shop next door to have breakfast while I waited)
Fantastic shop - I was looking to install some skid plates and replace my shocks on my truck and Advanced Automotive was fantastic from start to finish. Ill be back and recommend you trust them for your needs! Finding a quality shop is a problem of the past.
I trust advanced automotive to not only solve the problem with the car but also do it in a transparent way. For someone who doesn’t know much about cars it’s a very important thing. I never feel like they are trying to take advantage of me or overcharge me just because of my lack of knowledge. These are trustworthy professionals and I definitely recommend them for any car trouble.
Came in for the oil change offer they had on Groupon. Took around 45 minutes from the moment I got there till it was finished. I wasn’t told if they changed the filter and they didn’t say how many qts used nor shown me the oil on the stick. They did however peak around and let me know of a possible wheeling bearing issue.. but not entirely sure if it was an inspection? Biggest complaint- customer waiting area was FRIGID! It was beyond cold and just uncomfortable; no heat possibly? If customers are needing to wait I definitely wouldn’t there.
The best place to go for all your services and repairs. They are very honest and only tell you what your car needs. They are without any question great at mechanic work. I never had any problems after they repaired my car. I used to take my cars to dealership but after they fixed my car for the first time, I was very satisfied and will now switch to advanced automotive for all my car needs period..!
Not your typical take advantage of customer place. Good repairs better prices overall great place for repairs.Cameron (the owner) is the most fair, knowledgeable and friendly auto mechanic I have ever known. Weve taken everything from a Dodge Grand Caravan to a Chevy Silverado to a old Pontiac Formula to him. He has proven an expert on every make and model I send him. He is also always fair with the amount of work he does - only what is needed - never anything extra. He will let you of any obvious issues you may expect to need repaired in the future. I
I’ve always seen a smile on there faces. It’s always clean. The jobs are done quickly but if’s it’s going to take a while and you live nearby they will take you home and pick you up. I will use them again.
Got some clutch & flywheel work done here recently. Everyone I worked with and talked to was very friendly and professional. Huge thanks for all your help! Their labor rate, and time to complete repairs was excellent when compared to several other garages. The actual labor bill was spot on with their estimate. They fixed what I asked them to fix, and advised me of any possible issues that they noticed without trying to strong arm me into getting it fixed now (since it wasnt pressing). Highly recommended!!!
Bottom line: Go here. Jason and Cameron are awesome and you can trust them to do you right.I am pretty mechanically inclined and typically do all my maintenance on my own vehicles, but since moving to Ann Arbor and not having a garage at my current place, in 10F to 20F my desire to work on my Ranger in winter has decreased significantly. Jason, Cameron, and team are actually the first folks in 10 years who I have let touch my truck, but again, working outside in winter in Michigan kind of sucks...and I cant think of anyone else I would entrust my truck to.They both are honest, non-pressure sales mechanics who take the time to explain things to you and arent trying to pull a fast one. Good people who will do you right. Awesome, honest, genuine folks.

Over the phone they said they would do a free inspection but charged me in the end anyway. They seem to be knowledgeable but didnt point out that I have seatbelts strips installed instead of bushings, (not by me but by the expletive I bought the car from). Im assuming that it was just misinformation, and that they were not so incompetent not to see my bushings missing. Would not listen to a word I said about my car problems and then charged me for the time they took inspecting unrelated issues...
2004 Nissan clutch replacementThe bad - No written estimate, time commitment not met...repeatedly, clutch repair done incorrectly, dropped off with no steering issues returned with steering misaligned. Not willing to be without a car to have it corrected due to my health issues.The good - Clutch repair corrected, not charged for the time to correct their mistake. Given a ride home after a time commitment was not met due to bad repair work. Nice smiling staff.

I had three jobs done on my truck - transmission swap, exhaust system replacement, front U-joints replaced. I had planned to do some of the work myself, so I had bought many of the parts and priced the rest. I also wrote up a detailed description of the work I wanted done and which parts I had already bought and were in the cab of the truck.I think they did pretty good work, but I have a new check engine light coming on thats probably related to the work they did. More importantly, I had two U-joints in the truck, and said that on the write-up, and they just forgot to use them. But the U-joints I got for $13 each at the parts store changed to $40 each when the shop charged me for them. Im glad I priced the catalytic converter myself.It was a small part of a decent job, but getting charged triple-the-price, for parts I told them were in the truck, really sours the whole thing.
I chose this place for the five-star reviews, and the experience was so good that Im leaving a five-star review.Stopped in the other week for an oil change and tire rotation, and asked the guys to take a look at an issue Id had with the trunk latch not opening on my 2008 Scion tC intermittently. They work by appointment only, and had me in and out in 40 minutes, but asked me to come back for the latch issue the following week, because theyd had trouble replicating it (like I said, intermittent). Set up a time, came back, and they diagnosed it in 15 minutes, realized it was a common issue, called the manufacturer, determined it was a part that Scion would fix for free, got me a case number, called me back over, and told me that I should go across the street to the Toyota/Scion dealership to get it fixed rather than pay them lots of money.Were only in Ann Arbor for another year, but these guys will be my go-to shop as long as were in the area.
Made an appointment and did a pre-purchase car inspection at automated automobile. The experience is good and fast. Happy to know that the car was in good condition, which gave me more confidence in buying the used car.
I needed some car stuff done to my car quickly right before a road trip. They squeezed me in last minute when other car places wouldnt and even drove out an hour to get a car part for my car. Very good at cars overall!

Super friendly and up front. The car dealerships wont like it because they will give you their honest opinion about a vehicle. Take your car here before you buy it! Its better to spend a little money for a checkup or a scan than to spend thousands of dollars on a vehicle that breaks down.
Jason at Advanced Automotive diagnosed and repaired our 6 year old Chevy Traverse. We had done very little preventative maintenance before visiting him. Jason was very honest in giving us a proposal to fix the small issues. We know have confidence that it will go another 130,000 miles. They solve my problems :-). I especially bring any electrical issues to them. They were able to fix the chime when my headlights are on and the door is opened, which no other mechanic had been able to do. Reasonable prices too.
Im traveling through from out of town. Shortly before I got into town, my A/C quit. Based on recommendations from the church Im helping this week, I took it to Advanced Automotive to have it looked at. They worked on it for about an hour and a half, checked it for leaks, and refilled the coolant. When this didnt fix the problem, but rather identified a different problem, they didnt even charge me for what they had done! I fully expected some charge, and if I was going to be in town long enough to get the parts, I would definitely have them do the work.

Be careful. Have become very, very expensive compared to the past, especially on parts. Expertise is still there, which is why gave them 2 stars instead of 1. Sadly they have priced us out of continuing as a customer in the future.

I would highly recommend Advanced Automotive! Im a woman who doesnt know very much about cars, and I go here because I feel like they treat me with respect. I never feel like Im being mislead or oversold, and I get a kind and complete answer whenever I ask them why they are recommending a repair or what the timeline for a repair is. I have worked with them for simple things and recently a more complicated issue. As always, they were fair and professional. I cannot see a reason why I would ever take our autos anywhere else. They have always been open to our schedule and have been wonderful to work with.

2022-06-27I scheduled an appointment for my car, but when the problem got much worse, they had me come in immediately. Despite coming in unscheduled, they had it fixed and ready within 24 hours. Estimate was very close to the final price. They did a good job of explaining the problem and what was done. Very pleased overall with the service.

2022-02-10Horrible shop and owners. DO NOT TRUST THEM! We had our car worked on for a road trip. It broke down 65 miles into a journey to the East Coast. When I brought it to my dealer at home, they told me this company did the bread and butter work while leaving the real problems in the car. After $5,000, the car wouldnt pass inspection.

2022-04-07The Crew at Advanced had to replace a catalytic converter on my Mazda B4000 that was causing a no run situation on my vehicle. They got me in as quick as possible and did the replacement on the converter, and got me back on the road . Thanks to the Tech that did the work and Aron up front.

2022-07-11I’ve been a long time customer, but haven’t needed service for a few years. I was disappointed with the increased rates. They quoted me double what other businesses are charging for similar work. I won’t be going back.

2022-01-08Dishonest shop that will rip you off. I took my vehicle into the shop to only diagnose an acceleration issue. Instead they did work on my car without my consent and then tried to over charge me for it. They attempted to rip me off and charge me 500 dollars for Spark Plugs. They charged me 210 dollars in parts when those parts only actually cost a total of 64 dollars. Labor for spark plugs also is not as expensive as they charged me. They also had my car for three days which is ridiculous considering changing spark plugs only takes about an hour (a job I can do myself and would have done myself if they didnt do it without my consent). I definitely would never take my vehicle here again.

2021-11-25I’ve been going here for years and they’ve always been great. However, they really got me through a tough situation tonight. Had to stop at a few places on the way home after work to get parts for my car the day before thanksgiving when most places are closed. They were my last stop and I got there right before they closed. I expressed that I was sorry for coming in so late and that I was stressed, and they were so cool about it and helped me out big time. Wish I asked for their names, but they were two awesome dudes.

2021-12-18This place came through for me when I really needed help. My car had a nasty parasitic draw, and in our short Michigan winter days, I just didnt have the time, daylight or patience to track this thing down all afternoon in the cold. After bringing it to another local mechanic in town who said everything looked fine (which just made me laugh), I was at my wits end and brought it here. Electrical is a pain for everyone involved, but Aaron and his team took this on with no question and was upfront and honest about what services they could deliver and when. Aaron not only quickly diagnosed the problem, but over-delivered time-line wise and was communicative and gave me a couple reasonable options on how to get this taken care of. Do the business and take your car to the pros at Advanced.

2022-06-11Very poor communication, I never received a call once while my car was in for weeks. Had to go in once a week and find out for myself.They also didnt fix the original issue at all
