Comment: Gino is THA MAN! Patient and extremely helpful getting us the muscle car we wanted! Was a very very busy time and in less that 20mon he personally tracked down a beautiful aqua blue dodge charger gt and sent us on our way. Fast, efficient and very friendly from all we encountered here at SNA ALAMO! Great job guys. Loving the car. So much so that my 16 year son even paid for a car wash at a hs cheerleader car wash. lol! We really enjoyed cruising around Orange County to all of the tournament locations we had to get to over the three days.

Comment: Rented from Alamo at John Wayne Airport. This was my first time with Alamo. I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed!! I was under the impression Alamo was a “discount” car rental with limited services…. This was not the case at all. I received better service and recognition than I do with larger car rental companies where I have status. I was greeted with a smile and the agent took time to find a car that worked for me. I added a 2nd driver who was not with me, so I went to a local Alamo location to add them. The location next to Disneyland was just as helpful and accommodating, so it appears to be a standard.I look forward to renting with Alamo in the future. Thanks you!!

Comment: Rented from the alamo in the John Wayne Airport, Car was clean and nice. Check in was easy and the price of the car was good. I lost the only key I was given while I had the car and the only solution I was given by the roadside assistance help center was to have the car towed from my hotel and have a new car towed to me which seemed ridiculous. The roadside help folks were not helpful at all. I had to walk to an alamo site near my hotel in Anahiem and the worker there (Jen) was extremely helpful and actually got me in contact with the company that made keys and they came out and I just paid to have a key made. Wish the roadside folks would have just offered that. Shout out to Jen! Thank you!Then my flight was delayed so I tried to keep the car just another 2 hours so we werent stuck at the airport allday and was told it would be another full day rental fee of 90 bucks. In person folks were great, but if you need any help from anyone on the phone your wasting your time.

Comment: Pick up at SNA was quicker than at other airport, as the rental counter is a short walk from the luggage area and I checked in on the app ahead of time. The agent was courteous, was not pushy at all on pre-paid gas, insurance or upgrades, accessories. The reserved car was available and clean. It would be better if I could skip the line at the counter and go straight to the car.

Comment: After renting vehicles from many different companies, Alamo was definitely the worst ever their customer experience is non existent as is their customer support as they clearly understand something went wrong, but refuse to admit and correct it.Definitely an experience not to repeat.You can find below a summary of what happened to me:* Made an online reservation with Alamo for a vehicle pickup at LAX and return in SNA with estimated charges of $145.45 with CDW included* Attempted to pick up the vehicle on March 1st* Online reservation was rejected onsite due to CDW being included free of charge and according to Alamo’s representative had to be paid* Despite that, and as Alamo’s representative was not able to come up with alternatives other than suggesting I’d use a competitor, a new reservation was made onsite with estimated charges of $284.52* Vehicle was picked up on March 1st around 7:09am in LAX* Vehicle was returned on March 2nd around 4:15am in SNA* At return I was told a different number, when asked why the difference, the representative responsible for the return had no justification and said not to worry as he’d match the original estimate* On March 3rd around 9:12am I received an email and a call, from Alamo’s LAX, requesting information about the picked up vehicle due to an error in their system* On March 3rd around 2:15pm I received an email with a receipt indicating that the vehicle was returned on March 2nd around 9AM in LAX, which makes it so that two days were charged instead of just one with a total of $445.17 (+$299.72 then initial reservation and +$160.65 then second reservation)* Since March 3rd I attempted to reach out to Alamo multiple times over the phone to explain that the picked up vehicle was returned in less then one day and thus only one day should be charged but to no avail as each call was escalated and a Manager was supposed to call me back but never did

She was professional and kind.The car had a few issues but didnt ruin the trip, in fact Maggie was there to take the brunt of my complaints, and let me just say, Maggie was so kind, understanding, as I wasnt upset but she paraphrased my list of what was going on. That ensured me that she was listening and smiling the entire time, and made me feel like a King when I left. I have been using Alamo for years. Even to the point where I bring donuts if I have a chance. Once my wife baked cinnamon rolls for the Alamo team at SNA.I just wish the membership I have would give better rates as I do not like going anywhere else, but there have been times Sixt and Enterprise where my wife uses as a Delta Airlines employee gets better cars for the same cost or or lower.As long as Alamo keeps hiring the people they do I will continue renting from you.Thank you,Jesse Verdi

Comment: Had an excellent experience with Alamo Rental at John Wayne Airport.I arrived late around 11p, so I knew choices weren’t great but DINO found me a comfy and sporty Mercedes C300 that fit my reserved category better than some other options. He was also super friendly and accommodating, even though he was the only one working the desk that night.When I returned my car, FAISAL, was awesome during the process. He didn’t rush me and he made sure I was satisfied with my rental and my trip. He also asked to make sure I got everything out of the car, I may have forgotten. The return process is usually quick and done, but I truly appreciated Faisal’s human touch to the interaction.I’ve always been a fan of Alamo because they have more options to your rental reservations and the service has been consistently great. But these guys at SNA were exceptional.

Comment: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! If I could give no stars, I would!!! The employee Omar was very rude to me when I came to get the rental. He ignored some of my questions and answered others with an annoyed attitude. He did not bother to show me where my car was parked, he just stated the parking spot. Also he didn’t take me to the car and show me the features and basics like the emergency brake, fuel filler neck, gps connectivity. I asked a question about the fuel options and he ignored me and made a decision for me on how to proceed.When I came to return the car, there was no spots available on the Alamo side. The lady inside was annoyed and kept saying in a rude tone that I should’ve came earlier to avoid traffic and park the car on the correct side. Who is she to tell me how I should live my life! Her and Dino kept insisting that I take my 50 pound suitcase and two carryons and go back and park the car in the correct spot. Finally after telling them multiple times that I’m late to attending a wedding, Dino went with me to “check” the vehicle and park it in the correct location. He was looking at the exterior and said that there was a crack on the windshield. He kept looking at it and finally saw that it was only grime. He went on to say that I should leave a good review for him at least after I told him how I was treated my Omar when I came to get the car…So today the “manager” Jeff called for me to explain the situation which I did. Jeff did not do anything to remedy the situation but only made it seem like I was lying. He said that Omar “always” receives good feedback from customers. Well then can I say that this interaction was caused by racial discrimination. Also the company had overcharged me one hour past the return window which if I hadn’t mentioned it to him then they would’ve just ran with it. Jeff showed no signs of empathy and only stated that he would talk to his employees supposedly. He offered no compensation for this horrible customer service and only offered to take care of me next time I book with them?! Like I would give them another chance…GET REAL Jeff and the Alamo Company of SNA and go back and take some customer service classes!

I booked and paid for a rental car ahead of time for around $170.After returning the car, I find a few days later they charged me for the wrong rental, for about $1000.I’ve been on the phone with Alamo customer service for 3 weeks now and they keep telling me they will “escalate” the situation but nothing has happened.They have contacted the branch manager at Santa Ana several times and I have still receive zero contact from them.I am still out $900 an entire month later and they still refuse to contact me or do anything about it. If I do not get my money back I will start looking for legal actions to get my money.

We had tons of luggages, 2 car seats and a stroller.I want to give a shoutout to 3 employees.- Rachel who checked us in was super friendly, gave us a Mazda cx 90. It was our first time flying into Sna I’m not familiar with the rental set up there, She walked us to the vehicle.- when we returned the vehicle Faisal checked us out. He saw we had so many items with 2 young kids he called one of his co worker over. Oh and Faisal was super friendly, did not rush us out of the rental he made sure we didn’t leave anything behind.- Javier is the coworker Faisal called over. When Javier saw we had so much items and with 2 young kids he said “get back into the vehicle, I’ll drive you to departure level I was like wow I’ve rented so many cars at different airports and never had services like this before. Comment: Awful customer service, wife went to rent a car after turning in a vehicle next door at Enterprise, she figures save a little bit instead of extending her existing rental. BAD mistake, immediately she was given a hostile attitude from the worker, Omar, who then proceeded to state she couldnt use a credit card that is in her current name because the rental was in her maiden name, okay, got it, name doesnt match even though she has TONs of documents to show it right then and there, but oh well, instead, she tried to use a debit card, he then said she couldnt use that unless she was flying out the same day as the return of the vehicle. That was a zinger, never heard of such an odd/fake policy before. I think weve rented from virtually every major car rental agency in the US, never had such a bizarre and regrettable experience. In fact, I actually enjoy renting vehicles, try something new, been given many upgrades, but this experience is why some people hate it, guess it had to happen at some point. Do yourself a favor and go next door to Enterprise.

Comment: Heaven forbid you leave anything behind. I realized I had left something behind after I had dropped the rental car off and was able to return THE SAME DAY. No one was of any help. The repeated excuse was, well the manager who has the key isnt here today. We were told to come back the next day after we gave our information. We came back before the flight and got the same excuse. We were given an email address of the supposed manager to contact which turned out to be an INVALID email address. I called the following day and was told, the lost and found manager is in today and is working on claims. Try calling back after 5pm. Soooo, I tried calling back after 5 and was then told by someone else that, the managers have been in meetings all day. Call back tomorrow around 12pm. So I can only be left with feelings that Im being lied to and given the complete run around. Absolutely disappointing customer service and what a ridiculous and backwards system for something that doesnt need to be this complicated, unless their goal is to steal items from customers.

Comment: I’ve been using Alamo for years whenever my husband and I visit the US Mainland from Hawaii. They are a great company and I almost always have great experiences. The process is easy, quick and efficient from booking to picking up and returning. The staff is always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I almost always get a great car, except for my most recent one at Orange County Airport. We got a Nissan Murano. We didn’t realize until we drove 10 miles out to Long Beach that the breaks were starting to go bad. The safety sensors on this car were so sensitive that it constantly beeped, even when I was parking on the street next to a large tree that was 4 feet away. I know this was probably a one time thing and I’ll definitely be using them again in the future. By far, the best rental company out there.

Comment: The pick up process went smoothly. I was not told anything about how toll road billing would work before I left. I am from a state without toll roads so I had no idea this was an issue. When I realized I was driving on a toll road with no way to pay for the billing I called Alamo. Customer service told me I would have to pay a $25 per day fine to them because I didnt prepay. What!?! It wasnt until the next day that I was able to get someone from the place I rented the car to explain the process. Why wasnt this part of picking up the car at the airport? Obviously people fly into an airport from other places. At least ask if I want info on toll roads.

Everything was ready when I arrived to the counter, Veronica answered all of my questions and gave me a card with her number so that I could call if I had any questions or issues.The drop off process was quick and easy as well. They had my drivers license and all of the correct Priceline data before them but my name and e-mail address as input was 100 percent unrecognizable. I phonetically spelled out my e-mail address twice - and it was still input incorrectly! As well, the truck I paid for was not available, but they did get an upgraded vehicle at no up-charge. When I returned, Faisal, their attendant at the drop off lot was extraordinarily helpful. He took time to go over any questions I had and to ensure the final paperwork was handled. Faisal deserves a pay raise given his customer service skills. Would I rent again? Probably. I just wont be in their system to speed the transaction along - perhaps I should re-use the name they gave me for a frequent renter discount......

Comment: Location of the car pick up is confusing. After picking up the luggage, you have to cross the street to the airport parking garage. Take the elevator to the basement, then cross traffic lane to their office/kiosk. This is the airport layout issue and nothing to do with Alamo. The associate was friendly, professional and got us out to the car in short time. Car selection was good as I was able to get a better car than what i reserved. Returning the car was just as painful as youll need to return the car in the garage, cross garage traffic to take elevator to cross another street to check into the airport.

They have good variety of vehicles around same price which is nice because I like to try different vehicles for fun. Its so easy to get in and out. I used to worry about how long will it take me to get to the airport because I had to drop off the car but it only adds on about two minutes. Picking up the car takes about 15 to 20 depending on how many people are in line. But if you complete everything before you get to the airport online once you get up to desk. Comment: I rented a car from July 6-10 2023 and accidentally left my AirPods in the car. I was using them as I was pulling up to the airport and they said they couldn’t find them. Which is a lie because I know I left them there. Their employees are dishonest and stole my AirPods or they would have turned up. The last known tracking of the AirPods is at the airport *minutes* before turning the car in. The process for alamolostandfound website is terrible and although I submitted a claim like I was told to it was eventually deleted. Maybe they created another one and didn’t want duplicates? Comment: I picked up a Nissan mid size SUV at the Orange County airport. A few miles down the freeway and the car would not accelerate past 40 mph. Extremely unsafe, especially in CA. They sent me to an Enterprise that had no cars available for a trade out. Waited 2 hours for a car that was only half full of gas, had a massive stain on the roof of the car, and was way smaller than the car I needed. They told me I would have to go back to the airport to get a bigger car when there was an Enterprise across the street from my hotel. Clearly Alamo does not ensure their cars are safe to drive and free of mechanical issues before renting them out. The manager at National was great to work with when I dropped the car off. I expected to not be charged for this rental and I was not. That was the only good thing that happened during my car rental.

The oil in their rental went down to 5% and they drove it to the airport to ask what they should do. FYI, they did not ask me to do a walk around prior to accepting the car, so make sure you do that just so you do not get held liable for previous issues. Comment: We signed up for a 3 month lease. But Alamo insists on renewing every 30 days. The person at the counter when we first picked up the car insisted on us appearing in person. We knew we didnt have to do this but at the end of the first 30 day period, I had to call repeatedly to get the lease renewed. Same thing at the second month. This system needs to be fixed. Just make it available to renew online. Or send an email message with renew or not. Total wasted time about 4 hours!

This time (Feb 2023) spent about 10 more dollars on the reservation to avoid the (cheapest) rental from Dollar and Alamo SHINED. Two people in line ahead of me, and an agent opened a new station to shorten the wait. I was offered an upgraded vehicle (which was brand new!) and I went from waiting in line to sitting in the RAV-4 in minutes. The agent quoted me a slightly different price than my Costco rental reservation, and walked me to a manager who made the correction. Car return was handled efficiently by Faisal, who somehow found a discount for me. THANK YOU Alamo for the stress-free experience.

Comment: I usually rate Alamo five stars, but had a rather unpleasant experience the last time I rented at the end of January. I had reserved a standard car (advertised as a Jetta or similar) at a fair rate, and when I got to the pickup center, I was told they had a Kia Soul available. I asked for another model as I am not fond of the way the Soul handles and didn’t want to fight with it for six days. The agent looked in the system and said she could give me a midsize SUV for slightly less money, fees and taxes included, and I agreed. Just before she ran the card, she again quoted a price, this time over $200 more than the price I had booked at. I told her nevermind the SUV, could she give me literally anything but the Kia for the same rate and she said no. I asked if I could get a compact or something at a lesser rate and was told I could have a compact, but it would be more. Unless I wanted to shell out extra money for a lower car class, apparently I was out of options. So, I ended up with a car that I didn’t like for six days. As an Alamo Insider member, I was surprised by the lack of options/solutions, especially in the off season. Not a great experience.

Comment: Great service. When we arrived the car was ready and waiting but we needed a size upgrade. And they were able to accommodate us fairly easily without a huge wait time. We received almost a brand new car. It only had 2000 miles on it and was the perfect size for us and all our luggage to take our daughter to college. The car worked great and had all the fun features to make our travels easier. We had the car for 5 days and it was great, the upgrade was even under $200 added onto our original price. When we returned the car, the attendant was so gracious and kind as we went to take our luggage out. He waited patiently and then gave us all the info we needed to turn it in. It was very smooth, we just pulled up to the area of drop off and basically got out went over the cost, received a receipt and went to the airport check-in. Comment: My experience was pretty good considering the circumstances. I had a flight that was cancelled at John Wayne, and had to fly in to LAX. As a result I was unable to pick up my car as it was after hours at Alamo at John Wayne by the time I could actually transport to John Wayne.I tried to reassign my car pickup to LAX, but there were no cars available at Alamo, or any car rental place for that matter. Ended up bumming rides from relatives until I could pick up the car 2 days later. Alamo fortunately did not charge me for my full rental time, only, my actual rental time. People were friendly, and helpful. Checkout and check in is fast with little hassle, which is great. I signed up for the rapid checkout program. I have had good experiences with Alamo in the past, and would continue to use them.

The agent was very friendly and didnt try to get me to buy a lot of additional things like GPS or other things just basic liability insurance which i got for 10 dollars a day. When i went to pick up the car i asked if it had a CD player it didnt so he looked at a few other cars until he found one with a CD player. I have rented cars a few times before and this was the best experience i ever had. I will truly consider Alamo in the future.

Comment: Got a little lost in the airport, need better directions for google and signage in the parking garage. If your travel and on a plane, you get better rental deals. Rented an awesome 2019 mustang convertible.

Comment: Alamo Ford Equinox Complete Tire Separation while on So. Calif Fwy.While on the 73 Fwy. in Orange County on 9/30/18 on my way to John Wayne Airport, the tire light came on and not soon after the car felt strange. I moved over into the far right lane, sensing something was wrong with the tires. As I was doing this, I lost most of my steering control. Thankfully, there were few cars on the hwy. and I was able to make it all the way over onto the right shoulder of the fwy. As I went around the car to see what was wrong, I saw that the front right passenger tire, had only the walls of the tire and the complete part of the tire that meets the road was gone. Wow, this is a first for me. Evidently, there was some defect in the tire. Unfortunately, I got a call today to say that Alamo put in a claim regarding this incident, as if I were at fault. I would have thought Alamo would have called to find out if I was okay and what they could do for me, after this incident. Nope.I trust this is a never had or rare incident for any vehicle rental agency.My concern, after this experience and question would be how carefully are the vehicles being returned, inspected before being sent out again on another rental?

Comment: Rented full size car for 1 day trip up to Fresno. Car was great. I had called Alamo Customer Service line before I reached the airport to ask about their credit card policy and if there was a deposit when checking out the car. I was told that if I had not pre-paid for the reservation then they will be authorizing my credit card for the amount of the reservation. No additional deposit required. However, at the front counter the girl who checked me in didnt mention any deposit, just asked for my ID and credit card and off we were to get our car in less than 5 minutes. I only noticed the $200 additional deposit when I logged onto to my credit card company and saw the authorization. Then upon returning the vehicle we were running about 20 minutes behind. I had return time of 12 noon. It was 20 minutes to noon when I was filling up the car and I called Alamo and spoke to another customer support person who advised me that I had a 30 min grace period so I should be fine. I arrive at 12:17p and was given a receipt which had a 2 hour charge. I asked the guy who checked me out what it was for and he explained that I actually picked up the car at 11:30a and so it was due in by 11:30a. I asked about the 30 min grace period and he didnt know what to say. He was kind enough to fix it but had I not looked at my receipt I wouldnt have noticed the extra charge. Not happy with this transaction. Probably wont rent from them again.

Comment: There is an exceptional long wait at the counter and its understaffed. Allow an additional 45 minutes and non-peak times to process at the counter. The counter staff is very friendly and they do have managers working the front lines were you pick up the car but I think they need to have some of the managers overseeing the counter at the airport. I was disappointed in my sport car rental experience the colors were a drab and mundane. Rental return clerks in my opinion are among some of the worst I personally have encountered

Comment: I recently rented a small SUV from Alamo at John Wayne International Airport. The check-in process went smoothly and quickly and I received the car I reserved, which is not always the case with the other rental companies Ive used. The car was clean and ran well. When I returned the car, the check-in was also quick and pleasant. I will definitely rent from Alamo again the next time I travel. This was pretty much the experience I want when renting a vehicle.

Comment: 10/10/17I made our car rental reservation through Southwest, after my boyfriend and I decided to fly down to Orange County for my cousins wedding in Temecula. Our plane landed at John Wayne and it was a short walk to the rental car area, then almost as short of a wait to get our car.Would you like a free upgraded vehicle? we were asked. Um, yes, please?! No catch. We got the same size vehicle but nicer quality; ended up with a Nissan Pathfinder instead of a Jeep something.For.Free.Enjoyed our unlimited miles for $27ish/day. (About $36 total per day once all taxes are included). No charge for adding a driver, which was great since I barely drove, even though each of our destinations was for my friends and family.We returned the car a couple of days later and were happy the return process was as quick as check-in was. Thanks to Global Entry status and Alamos customer service, we made it into the airport with time enough to spare for a final drink in SoCal before flying home.

Comment: I contracted with a deal for whatever car was most available. When I arrived at Alamo, I was greeted courteously and the paperwork was fast and easy. My grandchildren were thrilled that I ended up with a 6 passenger car and I could take their friends along with us for day trips. It was clean and ready to go. Returning the car took less than 5 minutes. I would do this again. Great experience
