Had everything I was looking for. We have been using the spices and blends from the mill house for years. Staff is friendly and informative.If you are in the region it is worth a stop!

The Mill House is a destination any time we are in the area. They blend their own spices and have LOTS of variety. Staff is very helpful.
Have been coming to the Mill house for over 20+ years and it just keeps getting better with a great selection, size offerings and the smells are awesome. My granddaughter loved the surrounding gardens as did my girls when they were little. Alden is such a quaint and nice place and the Alden Mill house is a mainstay. Highly recommend. I always stock up on the Malabar Island Seasoned Pepper, the Lemon Pepper, and of course, the Miracle Blend.

It had been a very long time since Id been here but it was great to visit. There were so many spices to see. I had a hard time making up my mind but what we did get has been excellent. Highly recommended!
When we visit torch lake every year I always stop in and stock up. They have an awesome selection of spices and blends. Its also a very cute little shop in a very quiet area.
We were there this week and will be going back as well as ordering online. The spices are AMAZING and all for a steal. The staff is wonderful and helpful and were great with my kids. My kids favorite part was the garden and all the hidden wonders! You certainly have customers for life!

The hand lettered sign outside says something like, if you have a kitchen you need to get in here. I agree. Lots 9f nice spices and fun kitchen gadgets. Many saying signs as well. The grounds are fun as well. Go look!
This place has fabulous natural stock bases and spice mixes. My wife has an MSG allergy, and their stock bases are the only ones weve found that dont trigger massive migraines for her. We love all of their spice mixes, especially the Miracle Blend and Garlic Lovers mix. The store itself is cute and cozy.
Such a cute shop! Definitely worth a stop in for their spice blends. The Hickory blend is my favorite, but Ive tried many and theyve all been great. Ive seen Alden Mill House spices sold at different little shops in northern Michigan, but the lowest prices seem to be at this original store in Alden. Great little garden outside. Make sure you pick up a tomato slicing knife too! I use it daily.
If you love to cook, you must stop here. While the foodies flock to spice merchants, your grandma gets all her spices from Alden mill. And for good reason. Great prices, great variety of spices, blends, dips,mixes, jams, you name it. Great for gifts for friends who love to cook. Their hickory crisp blend is a must have pantry item in my opinion, especially to impart smokey, meaty flavors into vegetarian/vegan dishes. But of course it also likes a porkchop. Ive brought it to several countries now and its always the perfect antidote to the occasional bout of homesickness.

I can not overstate this: their spices are amazing!They have rubs. They have spices specifically combined for beef, pork, poultry, and seafood. Love pepper? They have several varieties in combinations. Love garlic? Their Garlic Lovers mix is to die for. They even have a bunch of low or sodium free spice options.If you get nothing else when you go there, get their MIRACLE BLEND. It goes with almost everything and adds so much flavor.

Unique and very satisfying. Owner gave us a wonderful tour and we bought over $100 just in their special spices. Just wonderful.

Best chicken stock ever! And their spice mixes are to die for! Try big Dave’s burger seasoning and some MSG free chix stock, you won’t be disappointed. We come here every year when we are on vacay in the area!

This is my absolute favorite spice shop. I very rarely buy spices anywhere else and when I do rest assured it is an emergency situation, otherwise I wait until I get to this shop 4 hours from my house.

2021-12-26Looking for spices? Maybe a few new pieces for the kitchen? Look no further than the mill house. Here you can find spice blends, ready mix kits, kitchen gear and more. Its a place to go for most of your baking needs. They also sell spices by the bay too. The business was started by a chef and so that alone should tell you its good. The same brand of spice they sell is also the same brand used at Shanty Creek resort, so there is another vote of confidence. They also sell witty signs that are sure to get people talking.
