Update to my original review:We stayed for a year. It wasnt a horrible place to live if you enjoy downtown living (very loud area). But if you dint mind seeing homeless/drunks sleeping in the hallways and your rent going up considerably if you want to stay more than one year the apartments are fairly nice.. We never had any complaints or issues so I would say we were pretty good tenants but after a one year lease they were going to raise our rent $125 a month so be prepared for that if you plan on staying for a while.. overall I would not reccomend unless you dont have other options and just need a place to stay until you find something better.Just signed our lease today. So far theamazon has been amazing. The hallways are clean and odor free. Our apartment is very spacious. The leasing agent Hayley has been a joy to work with, super friendly and helpful. I can not wait to move into our new home.
Love love love visiting this place and seeing Hayley! I work for Michigan Insurance Group and as a part of our efforts to spread the word about what we do we visit Amazon Apartments monthly. Hayley is the sweetest! She is friendly and welcoming! If the apartments are anything like their main office Id never want to leave.
Highly recommend Amazon Apartments. The layout of the apartments is very great, spacious and well maintenance. The front office employees are very friendly and caring of the comfortability of all their residents. Great living facility and convenient location to all downtown events such as restaurants, bars, sporting events and more.
My home at the Amazon was damaged by a flood. When I first met the owner Peter I was very upset and approached him with much animosity. In the events that followed, he was very forgiving and considerate of all my requests. I came home today to find he had gone above and beyond in restoring my apartment. The staff at the Amazon did an incredible job!! They’re so kind and always willing to answer any questions I have and lend a helping hand. I’ve lived here for three years and I’ve never been happier. Thank you guys for all your help.Much love.
The apartments are nice, and have an industrial look. The ceilings are high. The company also offers quite the amenities within the lease(water, heat, sewage). The windows are large in each apartment and let a lot of natural light in, but let in some cold weather. The carpet is comfortable and doesnt feel cheap. Everything requires a keycard or badge to get into, so there is some level of security as well. There isnt a lot to do in the surrounding area but that isnt the apartments fault.Noise travels easily between the floors of the apartments from what I have gathered based on my stays here. I believe this might be to due to the how the building was constructed. You can easily hear the tenants above if they are playing loud music or watching movies that has a lot of bass in it.*This review was updated, because the company reached out in an exceptionally timely manner to discuss issues that my girlfriend living here was having.*
My husband and I have been at the Amazon since April 2019. We are very happy here and so is our dog. We love that there is an somewhat enclosed courtyard and fenced in dog run so the nighttime potty breaks feel safer. We moved into a renovated unit with all new appliances, new flooring and carpet, and lots of closet and furniture space. There were a few cosmetic defects that needed attention when we moved in but management fixed them right away. Its super easy to pay rent and to submit maintenance requests online. We love living in downtown Muskegon with SO many restaurants, the Frauenthal, The LC Walker Arena, the Farmers Market, Heritage Landing .. the list goes on. During Bike Time the smaller parking lot is shut down and it is inconvenient, but I dont think this is the Amazons fault. The City of Muskegon allows Bike Time to claim Western Street for 4 days straight. The other festivals that take place at Heritage Landing are loud, but that is expected when you live in a downtown area :) The concerts usually end around 10:30-11:00 at night. If you cant beat em, join em!!
TENANT BEWARE..its not the Apartment that was the problem, it was management. My 1st horrible experience was when my car was towed from the very lot of the apartments where I resided. There was a huge festival all over down town, for several days.. amazon closed our front parking lot, (1 of 2) there was no parking on the street since vendors occupied the space. They stated they would allow parking in a small space, maybe 20 parking spaces, at the stadium. I work nights so,of course there was no place to park. I circle the block, finally someone leaves, I jump in the spot. Next day, car gone! Damn near 300. To get my car out! For the record, my temporary pass was In my car, I forgot to put in the window, nevertheless, I lived there. They offered NO assistance and didn’t care! Now as stated I got the place to be close to work, well 3 months in, my job transfered me, to another city. To get out of the lease they said 4x the rent would me needed! Yes! So I paid rent in an apt I barely stayed at. Lastly, when it was finally time to move, there was very little to do since I was rarely there. The place was immaculate. When it was time to get my deposit back, half was deducted stated blinds need repairing , 80.00 worth, Lies! A door stop, which wasn’t there I the first place, lies! And a closet door, which I reported when I moved in! All lies. Yes, I have proof. Ended up paying 150. Of the 350. Deposit! For nothing!! Was very disappointed. Management not honest at all. When I moved in several people approached me warning about management and how they will nickel and dime you for everything , I thought to myself, the tenant must me doing something wrong. Turns out, they were right! Tenants BEWARE!!!!
Awesome first home! That staff was extremely helpful. We needed a fast move in and that’s exactly what we got. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. There are so many things to do. As for the apartment itself, the layout is fantastic and it was very clean upon moving in. Thanks for a great moving experience!
My experience with amazon apartments has been amazing. I wanted to move in to downtown Muskegon and stumbled upon the Amazons beautiful old building. Thank God I did because it has opened up so many opportunities for me in the area. Accessibility to the flourishing community of Muskegon is the main positive. But also Property Manager Rachel has been great for us. It’s hard to control the hustle and bustle of a downtown area, but she has always maintained helpfulness and integrity through it all. With 15 foot ceilings, an open industrial style, and a Muskegon Lake view, it’s hard to beat this property.I’d recommend this place to anyone looking to jump downtown.
I moved in April 2018 and Seine month one I had nothing but issues with Rachel fuller.. shes very rude to her workers and people who lives there.. she treats the apartment building like its a prison.. shell get you with fee like no other.. I got 100 dollar fee bc the dumpsters were locked and I wasnt going to bring my trash back upstairs soo I put it next to it.. Rachel will unlock your door and just walk in with no warning at all.. I was sleeping ( Im a third shifter) and my roommate was in the shower! She charged me 1000 dollar fee for an unauthorized pet which all she saw was the cat food and littler box bc my cat was in my room anyways but my cat was registered 2 days before we even moved in.. I had paper work and everything.. she still acted like she didnt do anything wrong but took back the 1000 dollar fee but she notice they werent charging us pet rent and I didnt even no bc they send us $915 bill every month so thats what we paid.. thought everything was included in the 915 a month.. she made me pay 750 plus raised my rent to 1115 for the last 2 months I lived there.. and it was their fault!! And they made me pay for it! They even said it was their fault but I had to pay.. apartments are super nice and view is amazing!! But the landlord Rachel needs to go!!! First apartment I rented and Ill never go back to apartments just bc of her ruining renting for me... please find somewhere else to rent.. this place is not worth it..
We have lived at the Amazon for about 2 years. This is by far the worst place I have ever lived at. If it was in our budget to move, we would be gone. It is dirty, smells like POT and you get to live with bed bugs. They do not spray until they have a list of apartments to spray. By the time they get around to spraying, the bugs are out of control.I have requested several different items to be fixed but in 2 years they havent been completed. We are on the 5th management team. What does that tell you.
If youre looking for a place to live then Amazon Apartements are the way to go. The customer service in the leasing office is incredibly outstanding. The Amazon Apartment Complex is adapting to the new beginnings of Muskegon in the right way and no better way to enjoy Muskegon than living right here at 550 W Western Ave. All of the best events are within walking distance so no worries on parking. And lets not forget to mention that Rebel Road is right outside the front doors. I highly recommend anybody to walk into the leasing office of Amazon Apartements and check things out!
DO NOT RENT HERE... If there was a lower rating I would have given it... This USED to be a nice building. OFFICE STAFF: Rude and hangs up on residents. PROPERTY: Always dirty and spit / other garbage always on walls / elevators. SECURITY: There is none and constant drug usage in building / sales on property. This is not just a disgrutled person who used to live here and got kicked out... I lived happily in the building for 8.5 years in a wonderful apartment. About 5 years in to living there AMAZON APARTMENTS became a slum lord catering to the crack heads and pot heads of Muskegon County. constantly allowing the beautiful building that once was nice to be ruined. I would NOT reccomend moving in to the building at ALL. Staff has deteriorated, building condition is falling apart with constant rodent problems. Like I said it USED to be a nice place but with the lack of care from the staff and the constant noise issues of people RUNNING up and down the halls and yelling throughout the night it got a little old when nothing was being down about safety and security in the building... Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else...
Horrible place to live! Management is horrible. Lies about lease violations charging residents for thing they have not even done. I have lived many places, the Amazon is by far the worst! They do not repair anything. Piles of garbage lay next to the dumpster for weeks. Save yourself the headache go somewhere else!!!
I would not recommend anyone move into these apartments. They overpriced& the hallways&elavators stinks.Oh& new manager courtney I dont like at all. That place never keeps the same managers& I hope she will be replaced asap. All those apartments do not look like the pics they post on here either
DO NOT MOVE HERE...THESE APARTMENTS ARE OVERPRICED AND THEY SWITCH MANAGERS FREQUENTLY! THIS IS AN OLD BUILDING AND IT IS INFESTED WITH BUGS AND SADLY THE NEW NEW MANAGER PETER DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT! RACHEL CAME HERE AND MADE MAJOR CHANGES TO THIS BUILDING! SHE WAS THE BEST THING THAT THEY HAD BUT NOW SHE’S GONE! THE NEW ON CALL MAINTENANCE MAN SUCKS! I REPEAT DO NOT MOVE HERE OR YOU WILL BE DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED TRUST ME!

2021-11-17I’ve lived here 14 years now and just found Amazon Apartments about a year and a half ago. Great place. Love old buildings. The entire staff is great to work with. Love the place.

2021-05-10From the initial tour to the lease signing, the office staff was helpful and accommodating. Maintenance was quick to address requests. The apartment was so clean when we moved in, my vacuum had hardly any dirt after I did my own initial cleaning. The views from our apartment are awesome and the location downtown is great!

2021-03-10BEWARE! UNSAFE LIVING CONDITIONS!If zero stars were an option I would have chosen that. If you enjoy lack of security, lack of trust, lack of safety, and paying for vandalism you will love it here! Cars being broken into, Cars having Catalytic Converters sawed off of them, Paying for parking tickets because the apartment doesn’t have enough parking and doesn’t communicate with the city of Muskegon regarding new city ordinances. There are signs on the exterior of the building stating “WARNING: This community is being monitored by a surveillance camera” to a person with an ounce of common sense, they would figure that there would be cameras on the outside of the building. NO CAMERAS EXIST! This apartment is run with a false sense of security. My car was vandalized twice, and the local PD told me both times when they conducted their vandalism report to ask the apartments for access to their security cameras to investigate these crimes. The local PD also thinks that there are cameras on the exterior of the building because of these exterior signs. I was shocked to get an email back from the apartments stating that there are no cameras on the outside of the property, and that those signs are to indicate that there are cameras on the inside. When my car got vandalized for the second time it took 8 days for a response by the apartments, which once again they replied that they have no cameras on the outside. They tell you “lock your doors” “be more careful” Both instances I was parked in their approved parking lot. The disregard for their residents safety cant be stated enough. When you personally go through these instances and all you get back is a “lecture on safety” without any real interventions, it shows you the true character of this apartment complex. My advice is that the safety of yourself, your family, and those that come and visit will be at high risk if you come and live here. If my unfortunate examples didn’t provoke an action by this apartment complex, nothing will.

2019-05-13Beautiful apartments! Spacious and great floor plans! Perfect location downtown and there is a beautiful view from the 4th floor!!! Had a tour of the property within 2 days of contacting the leasing office and found the apartment we wanted the same day. Came back within a few days to sign our lease! The property manager did a fantastic job getting us in as quick as possible and meeting our needs. Everyone that works here is great and very nice! Great place to live!

2018-04-05I have lived in The Amazon Apartments for a year now in a 2 bedroom. The apartment is very spacious! New management was absolutely wonderful and reliable. Great staff as a whole too! Hayley, the leasing agent is very knowledgeable and helpful! Very friendly, welcoming gal. Overall a great place to live! A lot of amenities as well! I would highly recommend this complex.

2018-07-13I live at the Amazon apt for 7 yrs I seen staff come and go. But I have to say that the new staff is more friendly and they get the job done, I love Hailey energy she is such a sweetheart. Rachel is fun to be around and she is really doing her job. I love the changes that she is doing. Upgraded the apartments, new carpet in the hallway. I love the staff and I appreciate you and the owner for taken over and giving us the resident a peaceful place to live. Good job and keep up the good work.

2019-07-31We just recently moved here from Holland and the staff was so helpful and patient as we had some trouble with the closure on our home when we were selling. We love the spaciousness and open feel of our apartment. We had a few minor cosmetic things that needed repair but maintenance was sent out quickly which was impressive. The views of downtown and also the lake are spectacular. We were originally shopping for a home and now that we are here we are even more confident that this is the lifestyle we wanted. We are in the heart of it all and we are excited to call Muskegon home.

2018-12-29I lived here for about 2 years and moved out in October 2018. The apartments are nice enough but the property manager, Rachel Fuller, is extremely disrespectful towards her staff and tenants. She’s yelled at me multiple times in her office to the point where I’ve left in tears.I filled out a maintenance order with about 10 things on it and she cancelled the entire order and told me not to worry about it. A month after moving I was sent a bill in the mail (about $450 in addition to my $400 security deposit) for not fixing the things I asked her to fix.I have asked for upper management’s contact info and she refuses to give it to me.I’ve had men use their keys to enter my apartment without my consent.I’ve had multiple fines without any evidence to support them.I’ve had staff sign off on packages delivered to my name and then tell me it was never delivered. At least 10 other residents and myself have had our cars towed from the resident parking lot (costing hundreds of dollars to recover).Every time I’ve gone to her office to voice my concerns she’s either yelled at me, talked over me, told me she didn’t have the time, or just told me to leave her office. It’s nice living right downtown, but there’s some nice apartments being built down the street. I highly suggest renting elsewhere.

2020-02-05When we first moved here, I thought that the Amazon was a great place to live. However, a few months in and the fourth floor wash room flooded and our apartment was soaked. I understand these things happen, but everything was managed very poorly. We were told not the sleep there by the clean up crew and heard absolutely nothing from the Amazon for a few days. Workers were allowed access to the apartment whenever they deemed necessary so we had no privacy. Now a few weeks have passed and our apartment still smells like mold and we still have not heard a plan from the Amazon. When we finally got in contact with Peter the manager, he did nothing to help compensate for the hassle and poor communication that we were dealt with. Now our emails are being dismissed and phone calls unanswered. It has been the most frustrating month and I would not wish it on anyone.*EDIT* A new property manager just reached out and helped clarify what was going to be done to help this situation, which was very helpful!

2019-04-22I do NOT recommend these apartments to anyone we just left and the entire time we were there they make any and every excuses to over charge you. Hailey at the front desk is amazing great personality but if you meet Rachel you will find out quickly she’s not a people person and always had an attitude. They charged us for a pet the whole time then want to fine us and say “you never told us” yet I have emails. Bottom line I don’t recommend plus they had bugs and we kept our place spotless and would watch them crawl under the door from the hallways. ✌️🖕
