Workers are a bit aggressive. In Detroit and Phoenix. I appreciate the pilots speech who brought us home on sundays flight from sky harbor to Detroit. We were delayed. He made us feel special in his speech explaining the issues. Loved that. I will remember that in choosing our next flights
Poor customer service when you really need it. We missed a connecting flight to Italy by 1 minute (because of their delay) and were treated as if we were a major inconvenience to the representative that was tasked with assisting us. 24 hour delay, $350 overnight stay at the airport hotel, $140 for new covid tests and no help from American Airlines. I will NOT be flying with them ever again!
Absolutely the worst experience of my life. Doesnt even deserve 1 star. The airplane made me check my bag (which wasnt even big enough to qualify checking) and they lost my bag. The airline over sold tickets to our destination so our flight was canceled, leaving my mother and I stranded several states away with no way home. They eventually were able to get us another flight several cities away from our destination, the next day I might add. Only very few staff were polite and competent. The only consolation they gave us was a $12 dollar food voucher, that was only good for the airport we were staying in for the next 20 minutes... I will never fly American ever again
Very worst experience they played well while starting baggage check-in and took so much time. Even my wife was pregnancy and told them she was tired and not able to stand so long but they doesn’t care about anything and their computer as well working not as expected and delayed their process as well. They have to take care of customer with humanity manner.
Flights were on time and ok. It was nice to have a lot of movies and games as options to view/play on the flight. My only complaint was when flying from Chicago to Honolulu, it was 8.5hrs and they did not offer a meal. We were told to get something from the food court. Flying that long in my opinion should come with a meal. They did give us a snack box but it was a pack of 2 Oreos, a fig Newton, and a bag of Ritz crackers.
We flew First Class, it was very nice.Dont know about coach, but didnt here any complaints.Sandwich in first class was tasty but not fresh, and chips or pickel would of been nice with it.Drinks were all you wanted, thank you flight attendants! Would definitely fly with them again, next time around.
Worst experience ever, the stewardesses constantly harass people. And have no compassion for a young child who is struggling with taking a flight. We will never fly American ever again. Stewardess Carla especially was demeaning and I have never been treated so rudely in my life by anyone in the service industry.
I wasnt able to board my flight at 1:54. I had to pay $30 for my luggage when I booked the ticket it states my luggage was free. I had to get a prepaid debit card which costed my additional $5 . Not happy with American airlines. I am not getting toi Miami until 9:30 tonight
Worst airline I have ever flown with. Customer service is the worst....if I could give zero stars, I would. We checked in the night before and PAID for our bags. We arrived to the airport 1 hour and 5 mins before the flight. Stood in line to drop off the bags, that we had already paid for, after finally getting to the front of the line and was told by the agent I needed to go to a kiosk to get a tag before checking my bag AFTER WAITING 25 MINUTES. She said that she had no way of helping me and that I had to go to the kiosk.....This is the point where I should say that were NO signs to instruct passengers to go to the kiosk first, NO employee informing passengers to go to the kiosk first. So we step out of line to go to the kiosk. When try to get our bag tag at the kiosk it says that we are 2 MINUTES too late to check bags and we would have to rebook our flight. We still had 40 mins before our flight left. When we told the agent that was rebooking us that this was crazy and we only missed the cut off by 2 minutes due to the fact they had us waiting in line for 25 mins she said there was nothing she could do. With my family of 5 in tow, There was nothing I could do but allow them to rebook us.We were supposed to arrive in Miami at 9:30 on a non-stop flight and did not get in until to the 3pm due to the rebooking. Due to the delay, We missed a city tour that cost $225; So I am out the cost of that. To top it off, while boarding the rebooked flight, the person in front of us had a Carry-on that was too big. The agent simply said, Oh dont worry, we will check that for you and it will be at the gate when you exit the plane. WHAT????? WHY DIDNT THE AGENT AT THE BAG CHECK JUST TELL US TO BRING THE BAGS TO THE GATE AND THEY WOULD CHECK THEM FOR US????. Instead they made a family of 5 waste a whole day and lose money for a simple fix. Worst Airline ever!!!!!
AA really does not seem to care about the customers at all. The staff all just feel low energy and are very unhelpful and can be quite rude at times too. My last straw with them was finding out another person was booked in my extra room seat that I payed for so I had to relocate to another smaller seat. But because the system showed that I was assigned the correct seat I dont seem to be able to get a refund. Very dissappointing, especially after just flying with Delta, which always seems to do the little things right.
American airlines got me to my destination and home safely but thats about all I can say. My flights from Detroit to Charlotte and from Miami to Detroit were both very nice with video screens available for each seat and charging ports for small electronics. My issues were with the fights to and from st Thomas. Those planes were dated and without video screens. The seat in front of my husband on the way down had some unknown black substance spilled down it and on the way home our entire rows charging stations were non functioning.
The American Airlines flight was on time and all was good except for a tear in my luggage. In addition, I had a bad experience at the Burger King located at the airport in Charlotte, NC near gate E26. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and got one burnt chicken. They were kind enough to refund me but why even serve something that looks like that. The employee who put that sandwich together has to be retrained. I give 3 stars because of the flight but 0 for Burger King. The price is high and the food is bad.
On both flights i had an oversized person literally molding into 1/3 of my seat. Im confused why they werent charged for 2 spots on the flight. seems they need to work on overweight people seating. nothing like smelling the body odor up close of someone the entire flight.
I am military and was returning to the states from Korea. I was taking leave en-route to DTW for my brothers wedding. I was trying to get from Chicago OHare to Detroit. There were tons of electrical storms, and the city was flooding. My first flight was delayed multiple times and then cancelled as were my second and third flights. Although I never made it by air to Detroit, I needed to get there sooner and took the train, the AA staff were awesome. They provided me with vouchers for a taxi to and from a hotel, the hotel, and for food. My 3 bags got lost in the chaos, but eventually made it to DTW late last night (19 Apr). I was also refunded half of my round trip ticket (Im still using the DTW to ORD flight). I know they couldnt control the weather, so I understand the delays and cancellations, but the AA personnel could control how they treated their travelers, and Ill use them again. Lastly, when trying to retrieve my bags for the 3rd time from DTW, oh and a woman from the ticketing counter even opened up baggage claim early for me this morning so I could get two of my bags. Not her job, but great customer service! I know ORD was nuts this week, but most of the staff I encountered were awesome.
The worst flying experience I’ve had so far. My flight was set to leave at 1pm and didn’t leave until almost 5pm because of “maintenance issues.” I had to spend the entire day in the airport because of this, had to reschedule my connecting flight, and almost missed that rescheduled flight because of another last minute landing delay. The staff seemed sincere and apologetic, but weren’t the most helpful in rearranging flights due to the delay.

2022-06-25The people who worked for the airline I give 5 stars individually. The customer service, gate workers, stewards and stewardesses and pilots are all wonderful. They are exceptionally patient and kind even through all the cranky travelers. I want to thank the American Airline pilot who allowed my first time flyer to visit him in the cockpit. I also want to thank the cleanup crew waiting in first class for the back of the plane to exit. We had someone get sick and we were able to leave the bags in their trash while they wished our sick traveler well.Unfortunately working together to provide a reasonably ontime flight with drinks/snack and the ability to make a connecting flight was a big fail. Specifically the Charlotte and Orlando leg of the trip was an issue. It took us 14 hours each way to fly to Detroit going to and from Charlotte, and from Orlando to and from Charlotte. When flights were changed our seats weren’t what we paid for and it took some effort to make sure I flew next to my child.

2021-10-18Traveled to Arkansas in September. What a pleasant experience. The staff was awesome and even with covid I felt very safe. They gave wipes the moment you walked on the plane. Kept masks on and still passed out the cookies and drinks. The plane was clean and so was the airport. Definitely a good choice in airlines

2022-06-06We flew with American Airlines for the first and last time. Not a good experience. We saw cheaper tickets with an extra stop and thought we would try it. We will NOT make that mistake again. On May 1, 2022 we flew from Detroit to Chicago OHare, and were delayed for an hour, waiting on the pilot. They did text us about the delay while waiting to board, so that was helpful.Then we arrived at OHare, and had only a few minutes before our connecting flight to London Heathrow airport. One of the flight attendants told us we could catch a group shuttle to take us to our next flight if we had a connecting flight soon. However no one was around to tell us how to do that, so we asked 2 other American Airlines workers and they told us, oh thats within walking distance, you dont need a shuttle. So we ran to the gate and they wouldnt let us board. We were 2 of about 10-12 people that were unable to board our plane. They couldnt hold it for 10 minutes? Really?We had to rebook our remaining flights because we wouldnt make the next one either. We were stuck in Chicago for about 4 hours and in London Heathrow about 5 hours.We asked in Chicago who we could complain too. They pointed us to the phones nearby, but when we called the number they gave us it went to scheduling, and they directed us back to the counter we were just at. My husband got very frustrated and started to get loud. They finally brought out a supervisor and then another supervisor, and he gave us food vouchers totaling $48. We bought pop and pizza with it and shared it with 2 passengers from Switzerland that had been trying to get back to Europe but had 4 flights cancelled and or delayed. They were beyond frustrated! The food vouchers were only for OHare airport and only good for 24 hours.Our final destination (by plane) was Prague, and luckily we made it for the second to last airport shuttle to the train station. This was around 7:15pm and we should have already been at our final destination (by train and car) by that time, but didnt arrive at my mother-in-laws until 1:30 am! She lives about 400 kn from Prague.Every flight was delayed either for boarding, take off or even when after landing, we would be forced to wait on the runway for an open gate to disembark.Then on our way home...Covid restrictions and cancelled flight.

Its my experience and informed opinion that they should remove the name American from this airline.I am an American and I take pride in serving my customers. American Air line is a misnomer.I would not fly in your airline even if you pay me to do so.You are known to cancel the flight ✈️ for no apparent reasons. you have messed up many vacations and many lives. enough is enough. you should get out of air line business.you dont have the guts to tell your passengers that the flight is canceled. instead you say you have been rebooked.Wow!and that is with a no reply email.you are pathetic!

2022-05-17Horrible delays, they cancel flights at the last minute and then rebook you only to cancel that next flight once again at the last minute. They will not even refund you the cost of the ticket; they will only credit it towards another flight in the future that you are obligated to book with them. Will never fly with this airline again.
