This was a nice hotel for some RNR. Close enough to visit the nearby sites and far enough not to be in the tourist path. The rooms are clean and we had a fireplace in ours. Our fur babies were with us so nice to have them accept dogs at the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. They offer a continental breakfast with a few choices. We opted to eat out for breakfast. Would definitely visit again.
I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were very friendly. The room was a good size so we didn’t feel cramped. They’d were comfortable. I like that the pool and hot tub have two hours at the end of the day for adults only.My only real complaint is that all of the outdoor chairs had spiders all over them. I was afraid to sit down.
This hotel has been really nice to stay at! We are waiting for our home to be built and staying at this hotel in the meantime. So to start, not an ideal situation but the employees and managers here have made our stay comfortable and easy! All that to say, we spend a lot of time here and know the ins and out!The staff have all been super amazing with working with us and allowing us to stay for so long. The new management and staff are all so welcoming and nice! Of course, there are some bumps (like random fire alarm tests, something that won’t be a common occurrence, I’m sure!) which is expected with new management and staff. They are really nice people that know what they are doing though!Mimi, the woman on the night shift, is particularly nice and is quick to help with any issue you may have in the middle of the night! The new manager and his wife are so kind and quick to give you a warm hello!
Positive: it was modern and had a nice continental breakfast....although i didnt get a chance to try it:( the entry way was beautiful. Negative: i got booked upstairs, they didnt have elevators and i had a gob of stuff to carry-the desk clerk would not change my room to one downstairs. then i couldnt figure out how to turn the 3 lights on in the bedroom. also the shower floor was all slimey:(
The room was clean. We stayed multiple days. The bed was like sleeping on box springs, the pillows where flat. The notice in the room stated if you put your trash out and used towels they would replace your towels and trash bag. They did not. The heater made so much noise it was hard to sleep. They really need to update the beds and pillows and inspect the heater/air conditioner.
The first bed I slept in was worn out and shaped like a sway backed horse. I literally could not stand up in the morning. They let me look at other rooms and I switched but it was too late. It has now been 4 weeks and I am still recovering. What is even more amazing is that they have had this happen to other clients and done nothing to update the beds. I am now staying at the Charlevoix Inn down the road. Their beds are kept in good condition. The staff are very nice and the breakfast is good.
I reserved two rooms for the weekend to attend a event. My check-in time was 3pm. I howerver called and notified the staff i would arrive at 11pm. When i arrived and was greeted by the receptionist all was well. However upon entering my room things took a sour turn. The room was a complete mess, needed new sheets and pillows. The sink was covered in fluid stains. The bathroom was unclean along with some towels. The trash bins were also full. The bathroom door does not lock and the lookout hole was covered with paper. Granted the previous guests might have been a bit wild but if my check-in time was 3pm they had almost 8hrs to clean it, since i arrived at 11pm.My stay was definitely uncomfortable. Bright side though great receptionist.Second room only issue was a dirty pillow.Maybe the cleaning staff were not aware of the room, heck they even forget their tip.Since my room was a mess , i expected the pool to be unclean which i was looking forward to. Didnt bother to check it out. First impressions are pretty important.Im not upset just bad luck i suppose. i am disappointed though, especially for the price i paid $300 per room for a total of 2 nights.Hopefully this review lets staff know to double check everything for future guests. Lots of good reviews so far, mine unfortunately has to be negative.
My wife & I had the pleasure of staying here while working a wedding at castle farms and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff is so kind here that you’d think you’re at a tropical resort where this is hammered into the training.Breakfast is delicious and has everything - between the waffle maker, fruit, eggs, cereal, and to-go items such as bars and sandwiches, there really is everything you would need.Rooms are spacious and clean, lobby is welcoming, and the pool + sauna + jacuzzi was such a refreshing combo. Free thin mint chocolates and dog treats at the entrance during check-in, and really all the accommodations and comfort that surprised our expectations entirely.Only 2 things that I would’ve wished for were an elevator to deal with our luggage and some hot eggs, but I think there may have been a covid restriction there, but not sure.Shoutout to the older woman working the breakfasts! She brought a smile to our faces every morning!
This hotel receives five stars from us once again because it continues to exceed our expectations year after year! From the amazing pet-friendly environment, the overall cleanliness and upkeep and of couse the great staff. People like Savannah and Zach who go above qnd beyond to help. There have been many other great interactions with staff over the years. These are just more recent examples. Thank you AmericInn for being reliable and very wheelchair-friendly! So appreciated.
The lady who checked me in around 8 wasnt very happy she had to do her job it seemed. However I didnt have any issues or any real complaints. I mean its a little expensive in my opinion but the area is higher than normal. Rooms are a bit out dated. Water was hot and pressure was decent.
Our team stayed here while we were working a 4-day event at castle farms - about 10 mins away, and the staff, location, proximity, and rooms were all great and convenient! We dealt with 3-4 staff members that were always helping us out, whether giving us towels, water bottles, bringing out anything running low in the breakfast area - they gave us a great impression of northern Michigan (especially since we’ve been treated rather poorly in our previous visits).Between an early check-in, advice on where to pick up items we needed for our events, and a hodgepodge of pleasant experiences, if you are looking to stay in charlevoix at a reasonable rate - stay at the americinn
Absolutely horrible. Called me the day before I showed up to tell me that my room was double booked. I purposely booked my room in advance for a wedding and to make sure that we had a full size fridge, table, and chairs as well as being on the first floor due to no elevator. We brought our infant daughter with us for our stay and we wanted to make sure we had plenty of room. The staff was super rude and told me to go book a place down the street. I already had my confirmation # and reservation and booked a room with them MONTHS ago! They gave us a small discount for the hassle but never apologized for all the hassle that they put us through. Also when we were checking in a staff member had their screaming infant/baby behind the desk along with cut up banana and food all over the front desk. Very unprofessional and not a great first impression. DO NOT stay at this hotel. Go elsewhere not worth your time.
We booked our wedding block at this hotel and also stayed here ourselves several times before the wedding as well as the wedding weekend itself. Their staff was great and easy to work with when setting up the wedding block too. The rooms are always very clean and the staff has always been very pleasant. Housekeeping is always on top of it. We loved how spacious our room was and how soft and cozy the bed was. Never had a problem with the water pressure or temperature in the rooms when we stayed here either. There were no complaints from any of our wedding guests who also booked at this hotel. The only thing that I think could use a little work is to have a little more variety in the breakfast and a few more options. We stayed there for three nights and two of the mornings the main hot option was biscuits and gravy. I suppose that is personal preference, but I will say that their waffles are on point and the rest of the breakfast was fantastic! Overall the breakfast is well above average. While staying here, we also used their main pool and hot tub. As a young couple without kids, we absolutely loved that there is a curfew for the kids of 10pm but that adults can use those facilities until midnight! That is totally awesome and very relaxing.
Convenient and clean. Staff was very friendly and kudos to the night manager, Camille, who made sure we had hot coffee and breakfast ready a little extra early because we were heading out before breakfast is normally served. She was very thoughtful and it made our stay just a little extra special.
If you like smaller hotels, like me, this would be perfect for you. I was impressed with it. The water in the pool is a little over chlorinated for me and burned my eyes a bit, but the water was warm. Just be sure to bring sandals to the pool because the floor around the pool/hot tub isnt barefoot friendly. The beds are soft, the rooms are very clean, and ours was ready when we needed it for early check-in. The continental breakfast selections are also delicious, and the staff was very kind and helpful.
Suprprised that this place has a Wyndom logo affiliation. It was very low end. The front desk staff was never at the front desk and when they were there they had their children with them or in the lobby. None of the staff wore face masks during our entire stay. The breakfast was gas station burritos you heated on the microwave The hotel staff parked in the entrance the door so it was difficult to pull up and load & unload. On Saturday night we saw locals parking and coming in to the pool for gatherings.
We are local and go only for using the pool ($5/person for the day). Clean pool and hot tub. Very pretty pool room. Only one bathroom in the pool room to change, shower, bathroom, etc. Nice staff. We were the only ones in the pool. Not a huge or deep pool (5 in the deep end). They have a handful of balls to play with. The pool was about 80°, the hot tub was 99 or so, we were told by a gentleman checking the pH level, etc. The pool felt cool until you got used to it, the hot tub was a very comfortable temperature. Great experience. 10:30am Saturday morning in January
This place was nice! The outside looks somewhat out dated and there was some type of contruction going on but the inside is beautiful and the room was nice. There were a few drywall patches in our room but it was cozy with a jacuzzi. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Theynhave a waffle. Maker for breakfast. The biscuits and Gravy were delicious.
Clean and well maintained. If you are traveling at night it will be hard to find the entrance. Hopefully they get some lighting out there to illuminate the entrance. The entrance is not where the big sign is located. The entrance is where the small sign is located. Just FYI.
We stayed at this hotel last week over July 4th weekend and were very disappointed. We stayed last yr and it was fine. It has really gone downhill since our last stay! We had ants in our room, the air conditioning didn’t work and the beds were awful. The towels smelled musty and no one cleaned our room in the 3 nights we stayed. We won’t be back..
I stayed at this hotel overnight for business. All of the employees I met were friendly and professional. I stayed in a second floor King room, and it was very comfortable! The bed was soft and comfy. I did notice that the walls seemed rather thin, but nothing that kept me awake. I would stay here again.
Me and my family had a horrible house fire and had nowhere to stay while we tried to find a new place to live and rebuild our lives with a baby close to coming. The staff was so wonderful and helpful to us. This is a family style ran business and everyone is so caring. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Charlevoix. I wish more businesses had such wonderful and caring employees on their staff! They did a great job at making us feel welcome and at home.
Never judge a book by its cover. It looks just like your average hotel on the outside butnso beautiful on the inside! The lighting in the room is pretty dim and there were some drywall patches on the wall but everything was cozy and nice looking. Very pleasant stay, very pleasant and friendly staff!!
First, let me say the rooms are nice and clean, and the staff seemed nice. We were here scouting a location for our bridal party to stay during our wedding week. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing stay, this may not be the place. Our Room was directly over the kitchen area so any and all activities down there were very loud and noticeable. I could hear the waffle iron beeping what seemed like endlessly every morning. There were loads of kids running the halls all day and night. I felt like I was sleeping inside a Mcdonalds playscape. The front desk was great though, and as we were checking out, they offered a discount and advice to room at the opposite end of the hotel. So if you are a light sleeper, and want to stay here, let them know and they can accommodate.
Stayed for one night. October 30th/31st 2018. Attendant who checked us in on Tuesday evening was so pleasant and helpful. The rooms were so clean and nice. We had the suite upstairs and a king size room. Both super nice. The major plus was the towels. They were so fluffy! Love nice towels. No body lotion though in the rooms. Besides that the rooms were nicely stocked. Rooms are thin walled so I could hear my neighbors but wasnt to bad. Only thing that took away a star was morning. Breakfast buffet was nice. Lots of variety. Clean. Enjoyed the waffles. But the morning attendant was not very pleasant. Her boyfriend/husband and kid were loud. He ate the breakfast behind the front desk with her and their loud toddler in his pjs was acting out. It was so unprofessional and awkward. I just grab my breakfast and went back to my room. Because I didnt want to eat in the lobby. If I was the manager I would not allow that type of behavior in front of customers. Bad. Tacky.
Hotel parking lot is connected to a church so you have to enter through there. Its a little old but in a charming way. The staff were were great and even got us checked in early as we arrived earlier then planned. Room was clean and organized, however would probably rinse out jucuzzi (if your room has one) first before use. Overall though was a great experience and honestly would go again. While I didnt go there much, it was about 10 mins away from the downtown area as well as an added bonus.
Nicest room Ive ever had! Fireplace in the corner, huge space, free real bacon and eggs and pancake breakfast. I forgot my suit in the closet when I checked out. Called them, and the staff mailed me the suit anda shirt Id forgotten too for free! Across from public park and beach.
The most cleanest, beautiful Hotel Ive ever stayed in. Perfect for dogs, has a nice trail to walk them.We grilled steaks and then got up in the morning to go watch a beautiful sunrise..Their breakfast bar is like no other !! Biscuits n Gravy !?!? WOW... top knotchWe wouldnt want to stay anywhere else !!!
Staff was great. Room was clean. Beds were kinda squeaky but I didnt mind. Came down right at closing time for breakfast and the lady was sooo sweet. They have 10-12pm swimming for 18 and older!!!! About a half hour after we left Id gotten a call that Id left my pillow. We were going to turn around but decided adding an hour of driving wasnt worth it. They said theyd ship it no problem. The VERY NEXT DAY I received it in the mail!!!! I dont even think they charged me. Now THAT is how service is done. Will DEFINITELY stay there again if I find myself in Charlevoix!
Decent hotel. Clean rooms. Staff wasnt very friendly. Our view from our room was the employees smoking bench, so that was a big downfall. You could tell the pool and hotttub water hadnt been cleaned in quite awhile. Ran into 4 big globs of hair while swimming in the pool. Breakfast was allright. Only one waffle maker, so the line for that was huge.
Super nice staff. Very clean, very quiet (its about 2 miles out of the center of town), and easy enough access to everything, including one of the ubiquitous Northern Michigan walk/bike paths right across the street. The only downside for me was the sub-par Internet. Impossible to connect to and keep. But other than that, a great spot.
My fiancé and I stayed here in the Winter. It was awesome. I loved our room - we got a King with a Fireplace. They had a good contentenal breakfast, and the staff was willing to help out any way they could. The only downfall was that if your neighbors are loud, you will hear them. Not a big deal because our neighbors went to bed around the same time we did! They also host a lot of kids birthday parties in the pool room, but again, not a big problem for us because they have designated adult hours in the pool. We will definitely be staying here again.
Absolutely loved it! Staff was great, breakfast was good! Hot tub & pool was awesome! Although we didnt use it there is also a coin operated washer and dryer on site for customer use. Very pretty, located on the outskirts of town so to say, not much within walking distance but everything we wanted to see/do was 30 minutes or less to drive to. The semi remote location is a plus as far as I am concerned! Wifi was sluggish, but thats okay...vaction is for fun...not playing online...lol!
There arent a lot of places to stay in this area. But this place isnt that great. Its an older hotel thats been updated slightly. Beds were uncomfortable, one creeked like a mofo, unusable with a baby in the room to keep quiet. No elevator, too few plugs near bed for charing phone (had to unplug lamp or clock). Overall unimpressed, only reason we stayed here is b/c of the lack of hotels in the area. It was the only one with a price sub-200 a night. The city is beautiful, but for the same price Ill look on air bnb and take my changes with a random strangers house than stay here again.
My husband and I come here every year for a small get away. We love the fireplace and jacuzzi tub in our room, makes it so we dont have to leave! When we do leave however, we look forward to going into the cute little town and shopping in the stores and grabbing food.
I am a live in nanny and take care of a 7 and 9 year old. They love to go to the pool which is opened to the public. As convienent as it is, it does cost $5 per person. The swimming pool, bathroom, and hottub are pretty gross. But the girls love it and its great for rainy days.
Stayed here to see the perseid meteor shower in Mackinaw. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I wish I could have stayed longer! Right off of US31 and close to Petosky with some scenic views on the drive in. My only complaint was that the wifi didnt reach our room, but that didnt bother us since we went up north to disconnect.
Be very carefull when booking here. They dont have an elevator and they have roooms on the second flooor. It looks like a new property and I doubt if they are in compliance with the disabiity laws. I dont do stairs, sciatica problems and they had an upstairs room for me. When I asked where the elevator was they deskclerk didnt blink an eye and said we dont have one. She found a 1st floor room a city block from where they serve breakfast. A long walk was better than stairs.
Located in an area between Petoskey and Charlevoix was nice for going between areas. Maid service could have been better, I could tell that corners were cut in the cleaning process. For example: beds not being made, not being vaccummed for days at a time, sheets not changed.Management was good, very friendly and accomodating.

2022-03-21Very clean and nice place to stay. Felt like a few things could have been updated but everything worked and was clean and nice. I was surprised at how easy this place was to find. The staff was very helpful assisting with our bags as they do not have an elevator.

2022-02-13The only good things about this place was the room and nice staff. It was clean and tidy, but the first night, the chlorine in EVERYTHING was so bad it gave us bad chemical reactions. Apparently, this isnt the first time this happened, and it was reported. Second night, they shut down pool and hot tub and said the sauna has never worked since ownership. Shouldnt that be a means for maintenance? Dont advertise it if youre not going to fix it. This was the only reason we booked this Inn vs. elsewhere. And third night, we had parking lot theft where people took items off our vehicle. There are no cameras outside; the exit doors stay unlocked where anyone can walk in, and they wouldnt help us at all with a report. Disappointing experience for the amount we paid and how short of a stay we had.

2022-04-19Staff was great. Hotel property and rooms are tired. Although I didn’t need it, the “suite” I was in was advertised to have a sofa bed, only to have a sign on the wall indicating that is was out of order. Really glad I brought my laptop for entertainment because the TV was functionally obsolete and unwatchable in my opinion. The property is far enough outside of town that there were no restaurants open on a Monday that would deliver. Driving a big commercial truck, It was very inconvenient to get dinner. There was breakfast but I did not eat.

2022-01-23Overall we really did enjoy our stay . Came out this way for daughters birthday, snowboarding trip. This hotel is pet friendly , morning crew was very attentive and accommodating and situated us on a lower level so it was easy to take pup out . Rooms were clean, beds and pillows were comfortable. Hotel was really quiet, made it possible to relax. Bad situation happened in the evening, when we decided to pop in their hot tub/ pool area . Once entered water we realized that it smelled super strong of a chlorine. Fumes were toxic , not exaggerating! Burning nose , eyes , coughing, later on dry itchy skin , rashes . We’re only able to stay there for few minutes Night front desk lady was completely checked out , glued to her cellphone . When I brought up to her attention that their chlorine levels were way too strong she smiled and said well we had two large parties earlier today so we just nuked pool and hot tub . Why and how would she not stop us on our way in just minutes earlier and cautioned us about that taking place ?! Instead , on our way to pool she asked if we needed towels . That was really messed up on her part. That is hazardous. Also had trouble with thermostat in our room at night it went from too cold to too hot and we couldn’t get it to happy medium. However, in the morning , with morning staff , things were really pleasant again. We had a nice stay, other than that.

2022-05-12The absolute rudest front desk I have ever have experienced in my decades of travel. Go to the Charlevoix Inn - nicer people and no extra charges for pets and no back talk. When asked about the extra pet charges was told I must stay at bad places because it’s standard. Which it is not and if it is we don’t mind. Unbelievable!

2022-06-13Definitely not happy about this place, the main reasons why I picked this place, it’s down or don’t do it anymore 😡🤬😢Very disappointed…and NO COFFEE MAKER in the room, maybe they should change that on there booking everywhere they have and on Wyndham app, literally says coffee maker in room details, says“COFFEE SERVICES (IN-ROOM)Coffee makers and complimentary coffee are in every room. Complimentary coffee in also available for guests in the Lobby 24 hours a day.” ,,,Hot tub down and nothing about it on WyndhamApparently it’s been down for over a month…Laundry room but no laundry supplies, even though it says in room book“GUEST LAUNDRY, the guest laundry room is conveniently located on the first floor, on the south end of the building, and in open from 8:300 am to 11:00 pm. Change or soap, and fabric softener for purchase are available at the Front Desk.” .,,,,,, NOPE, nothing now, front deck person didn’t know what I was talking about…The shower toilet light is soo dim that it’s not even funny…Like WTH ?! 😡😡😡😡Maybe they should rewrite their guest book in the rooms too

2022-04-29Pool wasnt working when we arrived and we were not told, suited up our three year old and headed to pool. Lady at the desk was rude and said pool isnt working and we dont know when it is going to be back up and running. Left my 3 year old crying looking out at the pool, lady told us to go to rec centre across the street where it was also closed due to a program. This stay has not a good stay for as we choose here because it had a pool and hot tub for our daughter

2022-03-19Room was clean. Mattress had dip in it. Squeaked every time you moved. Pool was cold. Hot tub didn’t work. Sauna didn’t work. Had to ask for pool towels. Nothing in the vending machine. Still charged full price. Very disappointed. Will not recommend to anyone.

2022-07-07I’d give it no stars if that was an option. I have called several times to talk to a manager about charges to my card and still have yet to receive a call back. The total was dirty had a foam in the Jacuzzi tub that was yellow and disgusting. Was Told one thing and charged a totally different thing. Will update if I ever get a call back.
