Comment: I’ve always wanted to SUP since moving to San Diego, but never got the chance with toddlers in the house. Luckily, my nephew came visiting, so I had an excuse to get out. We found Aqua Adventures through all the great reviews on Google and Yelp.I booked private lessons and was welcomed warmly by Ashleigh who would later also be our coach. She was fantastic giving us directions and got us on the water and paddle boarding within 10 mins.It was a great experience, and we had a nice 1 hour tour of the bay seeing all the animals. By the end, I felt comfortable enough to try going alone next time.Many thanks to Ashleigh and everyone else at Aqua!

Comment: My group and I came as a party of seven, and the staff were so nice and accommodating! We all had different reservation start times between 11:00 am and 11:30 am, and they ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior, and we all arrived late. As soon as we got there, we were all pretty disheveled, but the staff were super sweet and had this calming aura that eventually helped us collect ourselves, haha. They offered to have us all start at the same time and even gave us extra time prior to get ready and use the restrooms! Though its important to be punctual, the staff were super sweet! The location is great, and I will definitely be coming back and recommending Aqua Adventures to anyone looking for water activities :)

Comment: What an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon! The process from check-in to drop off was seamless. Huge plus and appreciation for how friendly and helpful everybody was. I told Sean that it was my first time kayaking and he was kind and patient while helping me get in, explaining the basics, and even throwing in a few tips and jokes! He started our adventure off in a relaxed and stress-free way and I couldn’t have had more fun if I tried. Meeting Sean’s dog, Duke, was the cherry on top and hearing about how much he loves the water made us consider bringing our girl next time. We’ll definitely be back!

Comment: Easy to book, completed the waiver ahead of time. On day of, checked in with the girl at the front desk, they keep hold of an ID or Credit Card while you are out. We were walked down to the dock and helped by another staff memeber. She asked if we were comfortable swimmers to see what type of safety vest we needed. She provided us with the vest, paddle, and board. They have a few cubbies you can leave any belongings in that you don’t want to take with you. She helped us get on and be on our way. We were paddle boarding for 1.5hrs and time went by fast, good day to be out. Easy check out, paddle back to loading area you give them back the supplies, grab your things, and grab your ID from the front. Easy and fun activity!

Comment: We had a great time hydrobiking with Aqua adventures. Everything was great except don’t panic if you get stuck and can’t pedal. It’s just the seaweed in the bay. If you see waters with weed in it, avoid it or if it gets stuck, just remove them. We were riding as a family so it was easy to remove it for each other. Or you’d have to be cautious to remove it by yourself because it gets stuck in the back. But it’s a great activity to do on any day. Highly recommend it

Comment: Very disappointed, bought a board and was told could use there pier anytime. However, suggested a friend to try them and went to meet h8m and they wouldnt let us use their pier and join our friend without paying to use their pier. Plus the employee was very rude he thinks he owns the pier and bay and said to across the bay and get in. I would not suggest this place to anyone again since they cant keep to their word.

Aqua Adventures staff were very helpful, especially with my wifes mom, making sure she was able to get on/off the Hydrobike safely. Comment: As a San Diego resident, I’ve patroned Aqua Adventures Mission Bay since 2021. I’ve used their tandem Hydro Bike and tandem kayak. My experiences have only been pleasant and professional, from booking online to obtaining and using the rental equipment. Life jackets are provided and the rentals are easy to use with just a bit of practice (I’m always comfortable within 5-10 minutes). My fiancé and I have been able to see sea lions as well as dolphins this past time! Always a memorable experience. They are efficient, the bait dock is right there for sea life viewing, and it is a nice work out to head over to Barefoot Bar for a bite/drink or just to head around the Paradise Point island and back. The bar next to Aqua has live music on the weekends for some added fun, too.

The turns have to be wide and going in reverse requires patience LOL. The hydrobikes are pretty cool...youre on a bike on floats riding in the ocean alongside boats, kayaks, jet skis and SUPs. Comment: My husband and I had so much fun doing the hydro bikes! He doesn’t know how to swim however we had no problem with the bikes. They are the most stable rental and they offered life jackets. We were able to get up close to several sea lions and it was a great work out! There are several charters and smaller boats you do have to watch out for as you enter and exit the docking area. But we had such a fun time, highly recommend!

Comment: My daughter bought us all(family event) to go Paddle boarding on last Sat (Sept 17)at around 2pm for 1.5 hrs. They all could do it but I wasn’t comfortable even though we said I was an amateur. However, after trying it I just got pulled by the “currents” at the very beginning of the staff that helped me on the board. I couldn’t handle the currents even with the rowing to return to start area. I aimed towards the rocks on the edges so I can climb onto land. I managed & walked back to the staff to let them know I left the paddle board there, but staff said I had to get it - I was too afraid to go back down. I just pleaded my case that it’s too stressful for me to go back there. He finally said okay & told the supervisor(I assume) went to get it. He kept shaking his head like I’m at fault.I would say that this “adventures” isn’t for everyone - if you can’t swim or think you can row - it’s not an easy task as there isn’t anyone giving you a lesson on it. Even if I screamed for help no one was going to help…I just found it quite amazingly strange. I would actually encourage at least one staff watching out for people in distress or at least paddling around or even asking at the point of getting them on the paddle board that it’s not for people who find themselves distressed. I was very unhappy! 🙁 Unhappy Canadian 🇨🇦. I wouldn’t recommend for amateurs at all.

Comment: This past Tuesday, husband and I had a two hour sea kayaking training session with Pat. It was great especially since no one else signed up (private!). Pat is a terrific instructor and quite congenial! We feel like our paddling skills improved. Most importantly, we learned and practiced water rescue. I was a little nervous at first about capsizing in water but Pat has a great way to acclimate. We felt like we learned a lot during this session. Highly recommend Pat at Aqua Adventures!

Comment: My best friend and I tried the double hydro bikes and we had so much fun. Gliding over mission bay was beautiful. The double bike was super stable I could get off the bike and still balance fine. Would recommend I have done water sports so I was not scared but my friend it was her first time doing something like that and she enjoyed it as well.

Comment: We booked the Wild Life Paddle Boarding tour for our group of six. Pat was our guide and we had so much fun with him. Turns out a bunch of us have never paddle boarded before, so he spent a lot of time providing us with instructions. He worked with people individually when he saw they were struggling. His calming presence really helped the ones who were anxious. He also took a lot of pictures for us and texted them to me afterwards. Highly recommended!

Ashley and her crew made this past Memorial day an AWSOME experience for myself and 8yr old daughter. Checking in was easy and they walked me and my friend out to the dock and handed our paddle board and we were off. The bar next to it is also great! Comment: Wonderful staff, excellent prices, and fantastic service! Dog friendly! My husband and I took our dog here for his first kayak. They were so helpful with getting our dog to be comfortable in the environment and he ended up loving the trip, especially when we went past the sea lions and found some dolphin friends in the bay. We will definitely be back, this was such a nice experience.

Comment: I went tandem kayaking and had the most amazing time! We had the freedom to kayak anywhere we wanted in the entire Mission Bay area. Not to mention, the owner and all the workers were super friendly and funny. They were flexible with our check-in time and let us start earlier than we had booked online. The price for tandem kayaking was also SO worth it. It was only $25 for 1.5 hours and every additional 30 mins was $5 extra. Highly recommend!

Comment: Friendly staff took good care of us before and after our hydro bike excursion. It was cool seeing some sea lions on the bait barge and checking out some of the cool watercraft in the bay. They give you 90 minutes at the flat rate of $25 per person which is plenty of time. I was expecting a larger area to explore but we were done in about 75 minutes and really took our time.

Comment: The check in was smooth and the kayaking was really fun and enjoyable. Only issue was towards the end of my rental period. As I turned into the dock area the assistant there was rushing me to bring the kayak in so he can hand off my kayak to another customer. I told him I still had 20 minutes left for my rental but he insisted that once I turn into the dock I needed to return the kayak. I was not informed of any rules that required me to give up the kayak at the dock area even though there was time left on my rental period. I was still at the entry trying to take pictures and was unable to due to his insistence. He was also very rude about the whole thing. All the other employees were nice and friendly.

Comment: We rented the acquabikes and it was lot of fun. We could even bring our dog with us, which is always a plus. I can not post pictures because we left our phones in the car but the bikes have a small compartment were you can put your wallet and phone safely. They also have cup holders in case you want to bring your drink along. Booking, checking in and out was easy and there is plenty of parking space around. We would definitely come back.

Comment: Check in was smooth sailing. Staff was friendly and offered restroom prior to boarding. I reserved a tandem hydro bike online for about $50. Everything was very organized and timely. The bike seat was too tall for my son, so they switched it out for a youth size. I wish they would’ve checked my seat because it was loose. I struggled with it the whole time. I even tried to fix it myself, with no luck. I also brought my small 25 pound dog. It was her first time and she was a nervous, but they helped all 3 of us get on safely. Not much being done with sanitizing between guests. If they cleaned/checked equipment beforehand, my seat probably would’ve been fixed. We rented for 1.5 hours. It was a beautiful day and the current was calm. Much easier to maneuver than a kayak. I wish there was better signs on how to get back to home base, because we kept getting caught up in the private boat area. Other than that, it was a memorable adventure! We will definitely be back!!

Comment: A hidden gem in mission bay. Had a live band next to the aqua shop. We did the hydro bike and it was Soo much fun. It was a little hard trying to turn the bike but you’ll get the hang of it. The staff were very friendly, we got close to the sea lions, biked under 1 bridge, we were gonna bike to the 2nd bridge but our propellor kept getting stuck in sea weed. Overall lots of fun, we would definitely do this again!!!

Comment: All good from easy reservation online to getting there and checking in and to the dock. Only thing that can make it better would be better seats for the bikes. Rented the tandem for my girlfriend and me and both of our butts were hurting pretty quickly. In case you’re wondering if these things flip easy, they don’t it would be very difficult to try and flip these even with a wake from another boat so don’t be scared to bring your phone or a drink with you. There is two cup holders on each bike and a small storage that can fit sandals, phones or even a small bag of snacks.

It seemed as if she was having a bad day and the look she was giving me was like if I kicked her dog or something and it was my first time going so I had no idea how anything worked but she didn’t explain anything unless I asked and she seemed bothered when I did and her answers were very short with an ugly attitude. Then they said if we’re a couple of minutes late they charge us an extra fee. I did like that they had vests for dogs and I had a nice time kayaking but the start of my first time going there and having a rude little brat being uninformative made me kind of regret going at first. When I Came back the people waiting outside were nice and helpful.

Comment: My wife and I took a sea kayaking class with Pat. Pat is an excellent instructor and was fantastic in teaching us how to confidently self-rescue and re-enter our boats. Both of us now feel a lot more at ease and more comfortable on the water as we continue to get started in sea kayaking. Pat was friendly, funny and a huge source of knowledge on sea kayaking. In addition, he was super patient with us and all our questions. I highly recommend Aqua Adventures if you want to get into kayaking.

Comment: We rented Hydra bikes from aqua adventures over the weekend and road on the water of Mission Bay. What a great time we had! We took out a tandem bike which has two riders side by side with enough room for our small dog on a platform in between the two bikes. Aqua adventures provided life jackets for us and our dog! There are small compartments on each bike with enough room to for snacks, drinks and a towel. You can pack a lunch and find a beach on the bay to stop and have a picnic. The staff was friendly and helpful and got us underway with no issues. The Hydra bikes are faster than I thought they would be, of course this depends on the pedal power which you are providing. My partner and I are in relatively good shape so pedaling for most of the time was not a problem. You can also just float around and pedal lightly and just hang out on the bay if thats what you want to do.

Comment: When you get to the shop, we get the feeling this is a family run joint. There is a tiny dog in a Hawaiian shirt sitting on a bed. But don’t approach, he’s not friendly. (Especially to children, he really hates children) waivers are signed online, which is fast and great. The tweens that run the shop of polite but still in training so besides them escorting you down to the gate that goes to the dock, the offer no help or information. When you get to the dock, the yell to the staff below what you will be doing there, but they don’t really wait for any acknowledgement or confirmation of understanding, so don’t expect those guys to know what you need. You could tell them anything, they would have no idea.Even if you’re on time for your booking you may still have to wait 30 minutes or more once you’re on the dock to get into your kayaks, we did. There was a group of summer camp kids getting outfitted and trained for there outing before us, so the shop really does nothing to time out there excursions. As we waited a long line of guests cued up behind us.Now, if you think it was just bad because we were behind a large group-maybe partially, that’s why I gave 2 stars instead of just one. The life vests we used were ill suited for kayaking, and super tattered. The one my daughter wore was totally sun baked, ripped, and huge holes on it. The one my son wore was in better condition, but was way too small. Because of the large group, there were no youth sized paddles left, so rowing for my two kids was much tougher than usual. The paddles we did get were bent and cracked and very disappointing.Now, it was our turn in the water, and the 16 year old boys helping us out were obviously flustered and busy so I will give them a little pass. BUT- they didn’t give any of us any instructions on where to go, ideas of where to head for, warnings about the wake or the channel, nothing-even when I asked! They just set us in the water and we were off.All of the kayaks in the website are photos of SIT IN kayaks. So we prepared and dressed for that type of day. BUT all the kayaks that we saw on the dock, including the set we ended up taking out that day were SIT ON. This was super frustrating. Especially considering the kind of water you face when you’re out there. Even in the no wake zone the boats are going over 10 and it was a matter of minutes before we were all soaked, so if you come, prepare with a suit, towels, etc.As for the bay itself, it’s really beautiful, and if you’re outfitted properly and given any kind of instructions you will love it. There are a couple of beaches you can reach without too much trouble and it’s so much fun. I however will go out with a different company next time I go.

I took my 7-month pregnant sister, brother in law, and two year old nephew. They were in a two person kayak. We all had a blast. Comment: Had a great time renting 5 paddle boards here and then cruising all over Mission Bay for several hours with my family. The front desk and dock staff, all young, were knowledgeable, thoughtful and considerate (compare to La Jolla Kayak). The boards were solid, decent hard boards w/center fins (see La Jolla Kayak). I even asked for and received a narrower performance board. We saw sea lions and many species of water birds including lots of pelicans and cormorants.

We rented a tandem and single hydrobike and intended to take our dog out on the water; however, once we got on the bike, we realized that our dog was not going to play ball and kept wanting to jump in the water. We thought that this was going to ruin the day and that we would have to forfeit and cancel the reservation! But the owner and staff were all very understanding and accommodating! They offered to watch our dog while we went on our 2-hr hydrobike ride!! That was just phenomenal customer service and saved the day for us!!! We all ended up really enjoying our time on the water and our dog was safe and sound on the shore when we got back!! Highly recommend them for an awesome time!!

Comment: My daughters, age 9 and 18, took SUP lessons and had a BLAST! They went from zero experience to stand up paddling, in less than a half hour. They got to spend the rest of the lesson paddling around the marina. I was comfortable with how well they were taken care of and the level of attention they received. I cannot say enough great things about Aqua Adventures. I recommend to anyone that wants to take lessons or just rent equipment!

Comment: So much fun! I went in the single kayak with my 50 lbs goldendoodle for the first time with him and they had a life jacket for him that fit him great. He sat in between my legs at first until the end he got more comfortable and stood up more towards the front. Much needed the life jacket being out in the water alone with him. They were helpful getting me into it and then they helped me with my dog. It was only $20 I think for two hours. And it was beautiful! So worth it. When we returned to the dock, my dog got excited and fell in the water and the helpful employee pulled him out of the water by the life jacket. Very friendly workers. I would definitely go back and do this again.

Their service is very friendly and helpful - they are attentive about setting you up for a safe experience and helping you on and off the equipment from the dock. They have a nice, very low dock to make it easier with sit-on-top kayaks. I took my dog Rosco for his 10th bday (hes been kayaking before and loves it). While trying to get into the kayak (Im a BIGGER girl so it wasnt an easy task lol) I ended up falling into the water, they held on to rosco for me and helped me out as well. Nailed it on the 2nd try with their help and started to have anxiety once I was in there. The young man and lady were so kind and patient, giving me words of encouragement and I was off. I only went for a short trip and came back. It was so fun! Upon leaving the girl I spoke with on the phone came over to us and asked if everything was all right. I explained what had happened and I that we would definitely be back again. It was a lot of fun since I got going. Rosco enjoyed his bday trip and his birthday biscuit! Comment: Went kayaking on a Saturday at 3pm with a group of 5. We bought our tickets online the morning of, checked in at the desk and signed the waiver on our phones, put our phones/clothes in my car (no lockers available so don’t bring valuables) then were quickly taken down to the water. The parking lot next to the building is only for boat patrons, but there was plenty of street parking right there. The employees were friendly and quick. It’s a short 1 minute walk to the dock where you can leave your shoes then get onto the water. The SUP and kayaks were clean and good quality. Life jackets were a little worn but they get the job done. I loved this location because the water was calm enough for me to stay on my board (I’m a beginner). The area near the dock requires boats to turn their engines off, so you get nice calm water for paddling, and there were even sea lions enjoying the sun and jumping in the water! After a bit of paddling you hit an open area where there are more boats and waves, and views of the bridges. 90 minute reservation was the perfect amount of time. I couldn’t find anything to complain about!

Comment: My first impression is that the office staff are not friendly. They are very busy even during covid so no personal time or service. They have a variety of water fleet, hydro bikes also. The location is busy with boats and you will see sea lions. There is a reservation fee online. You need to park across or on street and take your car keys with you. I have a waterproof bag, I had forgotten a lanyard and the first time there, when i asked they pointed at a $10 one to buy! They did not inform me that hydro bike, superstable, has a dry bin and even a cup holder. It would be nice to let me know so I would have taken my water with me.

Comment: Went to kayak and read my book for a few hours. The young ladies at the front were not very nice and very short with me, a bunch of teeny boppers. It wasnt extremely busy at the time I arrived. The gents at the dock were cool. Mainly one guy who opened the gate for me. Its an area where there are a lot entitled people hanging around and I picked up on that vibe when renting here. I kayak often and the gent who helped me into my kayak talked to me like a child which was annoying. Once we arrived at the dock we realized that our youngest would not be able to do the tandem hydrobike with me as we had planned due to his height. They have EXCELLENT prices, very affordable.I recently rented for a group of 17 over the busy Labor Day weekend andit went very smoothly. Ashley, the owner, along with Isabel, Joanna, Cindy and the rest of the team were attentive, pleasant and patient with us.We are also grateful for the kayak attendants (Josh, Richard, Joel) for helping us get on our kayaks; we were even given a free lesson to the few that had never kayaked before! It was much appreciated!I highly recommend this Aqua Adventure to both tourists and locals alike. San Diego is lucky to have this marvelous company!

Comment: We rented the Megalodon paddle board for two adults and two kids.  The thing was AWESOME!  It was our very first time paddle boarding, and the staff was awesome at explaining so wed understand how to maneuver the board, etc.  We saw a TON of sea lions, and received so many compliments on the water due to the size of the board.  Definitely an awesome experience.  Wed have gone back the following day had we had more time!  Super friendly staff, and a GREAT time for all ages!

I love that the kayaks had their own dry storage built in.One downside (but not against the company, no stars removed) is that there is no sandy beach that close, so your options are to paddle farther to a sandy beach or to stay on the water the whole time. This may not affect you (We had a dog we wanted to get to sand to play before returning), but something to note.

Comment: What started as an enjoyable experience, ended with an employee who was incredibly unprofessional. Reserving the kayak online and the check-in process was simple and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed our time as a family out on the water. My kids really enjoyed seeing the sea lions sunbathing. When we arrived back, the person who greeted us could have easily instructed us on where to leave the lifejackets. But he didnt say a word. I honestly couldnt remember if we got them at check-in or at the dock. So I walked up the dock with our life jackets to a locked gate. When I asked the staff member how we can get out, he yelled Are you planning to take the life jackets home. His tone was completely unnecessary and unprofessional to talk to anyone like that. I hope you can use this as a training opportunity. As much as we enjoyed most of our experience, theres a lot of companies who rent kayaks on Mission Bay and I suspect that they are more professional to their customers.

Comment: Upon arriving, Aquadventures had clearly marked signs on the ground, along the fence of welcoming clients and instructions on how to navigate ordering rentals from them. All employees wore there masks and greeted other clients and me with professionalism and with a smile. They checked my family and me in and took us down to the docks. Once at the docks, they had us stand 6 ft apart (clearly marked on the the dock). The gentleman on the docks instructed each person on how to enter the water on their kayak or SUP and made sure that the client was comfortable entering the water on their craft. Upon exiting the gentleman had the same respect for clients. They also hosed off the equipment used with antibacterial spray. Over all...my family and I had a GREAT experience at Aquadventures! I purchased a Kayak, paddle, vest, and roof carrier for a great price and it was very low pressure, which is always a huge plus. It was a fantastic experience and picked up some excellent paddle boarding tips. They are conveniently located right on the water, so no need to transport anything, with plenty of free parking. Comment: I recently took a SOT kayaking lesson at Aqua Adventures and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about renting a kayak on the bay, but has no real experience. My instructor, Pat, was personable and explained things very well. We spent the hour paddling around in Quivira basin working on technique and learning the basics. Pat was great and the lesson was fun. Pat even has his own little obstacle course in the area that helps with learning to turn. Great way to spend an hour and learn some new skills.

Knowledgable about the animals and what to see. Took great pictures for us.Not a plus or negative, I just know I like to know so Ill add to this review. Their kayaks are pretty open, no curve in above your legs or a kayak skirts. So good to put sunscreen on any exposed legs too :)

We purchased a season pass for their kayaks and over the summer tried to go several times a week. Weve never once had an equipment t problem.
