This Swim School is amazing! We just got here in Novi and the staff was very efficient in arranging an evaluation class for me and my toddler within two days! Kudos to the amazing admin team! Everyone was friendly and approachable on our first day, and our swim coach today was Ms Elisia who was great! The pool was heated so it was very comfortable for me and my toddler. It is also well equipped, so in case we needed anything we know we are covered. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience today!
We have been with Aqua-tots Novi for more than 3 years. Everything has gone well. But until recently, it has been more and more difficult to find available spot for a single make-up class. In recent attempts to schedule make-up class in the past a few months, I was told either no availability at all during next one week, or only one spot in a very awkward time. I guess its great to have all the classes booked to make profits. But it also means they are running out of coaches and schedules. I dont think we are alone to have a lot of make-up classes in the account and hope to add one or two classes each week during summer, BUT THEY ARE OUT OF CAPACITY! No more flexibilities in class schedule as before. (Im already used to no choice of coaches! WOW!!) I cannot just freeze the account since the make-up class cannot be used without a current monthly payment. Those make-ups will be just classes I paid for but no way to use. Very disappointed!!!Adding to my last review. The capacity issue has never changed since 9 month ago. I learned more about the stay connected program. You have to pay $15 each month to use the makeup class you’ve paid in full price! And maximum two makeup classes each month! Isn’t it ironic that they recommend 2-3 lessons each week written on the office window?!
I will NOT recommend this place to anyone. We have been coming here for more than2-3 yrs. Dont have enough staff. We have plenty of makeup sessions which we r not able to do because they dont have enough level 5 sessions. Avoid this place as far as possible 👎👎👎dont deserve a single star. The below mentioned review is SPOT ON. We are facing the same situation.
Classes keeps canceling for which they provide makeup classes. Can’t use them as they have no availability. With tons of makeup classes in hand they neither Ofer refund or some alternate arrangements. You keep paying with a hope to avail those classes ultimately adding more
The staff at the Novi location are all wonderful! Our daughter has Anne on Tuesdays and Trey on Fridays and they are both excellent teachers! Watching her grow her swimming skills has been thrilling. She LOVES coming to them, and has to say hello and goodbye to everyone there. You can tell they all love working with kiddos and have such incredible patience and fun as they work. The front desk staff are always so cheerful and helpful as well! I worked in retail and cruise line operations for over 10 years and it’s so nice to see people enjoy their work environment. It also tells you they enjoy working with one another as well. The facility is always exceptional clean (even before Covid) and they are very safe. I know we’re in good hands here. Having worked for a cruise line, I certainly know the importance on knowing how to swim and being safe around water, which is why we felt having our daughter learn early was crucial and couldn’t be happier to have found this team at Novi. Thanks again!
I can honestly not say enough GREAT things about our experience with Aqua Tots!! Its a wonderful place from the second we walk in the doors! The kids are always greeted by name, which makes them feel comfortable right from the start. Megan at the front desk is THE BEST!! She is always helping to make things as easy as possible and so great with the kids! We have had some excellent instructors in Justin, Jasmine and Erin, the kids love them all!! Both of my kids have improved SO much in their swimming since joining a year ago. BEST decision we ever made!!
Aqua Tots can be a hit or miss experience. Sometimes it’s great and they’re really impressive and other times it’s just a run of the “blah” swim lesson. Some instructors are top of the line and amazing and others are mediocre at best. My kids love it though. If there were another swim school in a convenient location I’d move on, though. Aqua Tots has our business bc of their location.
Everyone from the aquatics director, Justin, to the amazing coaches—each is dedicated and committed to their students. Watching Coaches Madison and Trey with my infant son is awe-inspiring, and my daughter is absolutely thriving with Coach Dave! Both children started when 6-8 months old, and we’ve had nothing but positive experiences. Even with a child that has a hard time separating from me or meeting new people, the coaches really take their time to get her comfortable and respect her feelings and boundaries. We love the confidence our children have in the water and the peace of mind we have as parents in their abilities when in or near water. We also love the connections we have made with other families during class and forging friendships along the way!Note: We tried two other local swim schools that offered a free trial just to see if it was worth switching at any point (all charge the same price, so it was really about the coaches and vibe). The other two schools didn’t hold a torch to Aqua Tots and we actually didn’t even finish out the free trial sessions in either of the other schools. Give AT a chance-you won’t be disappointed!
I was taking my youngest son who is now 2.5 years old to their parent, baby/toddler class and recently he went to the toddler class where they are just with the instructor While there I observed some things that were a concern to me. I wish I had known this prior to attending so I am writing this to warn other parents and also to let them know that learning to swim can be fun, just go to the correct school or even do swim time yourself instead. Before trying Aqua tots, we went to Goldfish Swim School and had a great experience, but we moved further away and did not want to drive so I foolishly assumed that Aqua Tots would be just fine. I gave Aqua Tots a 1 star review not because everything there is bad but because I would not recommend it to anyone of any age especially toddlers who are ready to swim without parents. My first and foremost concern is the lack of a lifeguard and /or a lead person on the deck to monitor the little children swimming. Per the staff this happens only during the day when they are less busy. However when I went there they always had about 8- 12 kids in the pool. Since parents sit outside a glass wall and cannot quickly access the pool in an emergency this is a problem. During my childs class with 2 other students my son slipped down the stair. When he did this his whole head submerged under the water while the instructor was helping another student. I was stuck outside on the other side of the glass. I almost ran in when the coach noticed and was by pure luck able to get to him on time but still long enough that it really scared my 2.5 year old and me. He cried very hard after and was not consoled by the instructor because he was busy with other students and there was no staff members outside the pool. If a lead person was on deck that person would have identified my son getting distracted and playing with the pole that lead to him slipping down. Instead he spent an uncomfortably long time submerged under the water. Therefore, the coaches do not have enough support to help them and it is impossible for any human being to keep their eyes on 4 little ones at all times and do the swim tasks. When my child was old enough to swim on his own he did a trial class which the coach said he did great ( this was the same class he slipped down the stair), but despite loving the water he cried the whole way through and when the activity was to much for him the coach failed to identify it and respect his boundaries and continued to make him cry instead of trying to inject fun activities. The coach mistakenly believed that it was all just separation anxiety but any mother could see that it was far more than that. After seeing the instructors at Goldfish I see there is absolutely no need to traumatize a child by making them cry all the was through swim class and even cry in his mothers arms after. When attending the parent/baby class at Aqua Tots I often noticed many young children in the instructor lead classes crying far longer than I thought was normal and after seeing the instructor lead swim lesson I believe this is impart because the curriculum is not age appropriate at least for the 2.5-3.5 year olds. Even the baby class at Goldfish is much better, more fun and more space. If you are trying to choose a swim school for your young child either go with Goldfish or some other place but do not choose this place. It is just by chance that something has not happened here and kids are going through unnecessary stress and trauma by being forced to be dunked repeatedly when they say no because they have had enough. Aqua tots falsely advertises Safety first and Fun but they are completely unaware and untrained on creating safe systems. They also do not have fun infused into their toddler class. One last thing, the baby/mother class was way too crowded and they should have had more space. Goldfish has an entire pool dedicated to the baby/parent class.
What a great place. Our 2 children (ages 2 & 4) go here & look forward to each lesson. This was their first time having swim lessons without a parent helping out - and they made the transition so well. Much credit goes to the teachers at Aqua Tots - they are very friendly. Big kudos to Coach Dave (our 2 year old is a big fan!) - very patient & attentive. They offer evening classes that are perfect for working parents to have time to bring the kids in without feeling rushed. The facility is pristine - very clean, offers a large changing area and comfy chairs for watching the kids swim. Weve tried other local swimming places but Aqua Tots has truly been the best & we wouldnt go anyplace else now.
It was the first swimming session for our 4 year old son yesterday. Firstly, he hasnt been very comfortable with water so far. Secondly, hes not a kid who would easily go to a stranger.Brooke did a fantastic job and understood his needs. She took real good care of him and took him to the pool. In the first few minutes, we knew we had the best coach for him.The only thing I disliked is- the front desk reps didnt really help initially. We arrived 45 minutes before our schedule to make sure our kid settles down and we find the right door for him to enter the pool when they call out his name. The rep who I spoke to was pretty sure and asked us to wait at the first door and that wasnt correct. Later when there were about ten minutes left, they still didnt have Brookes name listed at that door. I went back to their desk to check if she was even present that day (pretty much ready for an unpleasant surprise), and is she was I wanted to have a word with her before the session. That is when she was called and we had a good warm up chat. I felt it was very important for our kid and helped a lot. They should pay more attention to their newcomers.I would highly recommend coach Brooke to anyone planning to enroll their children here.
I love the small class sizes and all the personalized feedback. My son has had several coaches over the past year and has really liked all. He currently has Coach Ann who is great at building his confidence and helping him out of his comfort zone without pushing him too much. If I tell him Coach Ann believes he can do something, he starts to believe he can too! All the other staff is also wonderful and super friendly. Mostly for me it’s about knowing he is gaining the proper techniques to be safe, strong, and confident in water.
10 month old daughter has been in since 4 months; and I could not imagine going anywhere else. Staff is great! Able to reschedule with ease when needed. They also take the time to educate the parents (levels 1 and 2 parents are in the pool with kids). It makes me feel comfortable with what my child is learning and why. Looking forward to her growing and learning more with Aqua-Tots!
Weve been delaying putting our kids in swim classes for a while now but after my 2 year old son fell in a pool during vacation, we knew it was a priority. We couldnt be happier. My kids immediately warmed up to the environment and teachers and ask every day to go to class. We found they were very comparable in price, even cheaper in some things, in a great location, and have a very nice facility. We are very happy we chose Aqua Tots.
We love the instructors! Especially Coach Holly, she is patient, fun and a great teacher! We also have Enjoyed coach Breanna, and coach Stacy has definitely be great as well and has challenged my girls when swimming with them. We appreciate The variety of time offerings for classes on weekends and week nights. This is helpful for working parents! Thank you Aqua Tots!
We initially signed up for the 2 week Fast Track program, which gave us a chance to meet many of the instructors and staff. Since everyone we worked with was so great, there was no doubt that we would continue his swim lessons at the Aqua-Tots Novi. The hardest part was picking which instructor he would continue to work with. Not only does my son look forward to going each week but the facility is clean and comfortable which makes it a great place for mom and dad too!
DO NOT GO TO AQUA TOTS. This is the worst swim school i have ever stepped foot in. I have 4 kids and taken them all for swimming lessons and this is the longest any of my kids have taken. Management is terrible and rude. My son gets about 6 minutes of instruction per class and has been in the same level for EIGHT months paying over 150 dollars a month for nothing. front desk has been especially rude lately and always seem to be on their phone. Gold fish was 100x better and i will be going back there to finish up his swim lessons.
This is my daughters first experience with swim lessons and she LOVES going to Aqua Tots Swim School in Novi! As a parent I appreciate their professionalism upon entering the building. The swim instructors work patiently and carefully to ensure my child is learning and safe while in the water. Keep up the great work Aqua Tots!!
I have two children attending Novi Aqua Tots. I cant compare this swim school to another because this is the only one my children have attended. Overall the service is great.Very rarely theres an employee that feels they can be condescending but I can handle the situation.I question the progress of my children. I do notice a vast improvement when they do a back to back class or more than one class a week. Though sometimes I feel that to avoid paperwork my children are not transferred to the new level. Might be my impression. Im no expert. They used to give out ribbons at certain milestones but now my daughter who has joined since July 2016 have never received one ribbon despite all these praises she receives at the end of the class and my son only received one in a whole level. Whilst there is another whole level he received none yet graduated. My biggest pet peeve are the stalls. There is only one large stall and since I have two or three children with me (one being a baby) the standard tiny change stalls are insufficient for all of us. Barely have enough room for myself and one child. Every now and again a new mom thinks it fine to hold the stall by leaving their change gear inside. I shouldnt have to confront other parents over the one and only large stall. If the stalls were deeper or wider Id give this location five out of five stars. But since this bugs me every week that I dont get to the big stall in time it suffers a 20% loss or one star.Highly recommend this place. Clean, organized, employees and coaches are great, knowledgeable and interested. In several years Ive had two incidences I recall with staff which is negligible.
This place is amazing! I have 3 kids under age 4 and this was the only school that would take us without each child having a parent in the water. I am so thankful for that. The instructors are really good and I can tell they care for my children. We have been coming a month and all 3 have made good progress.
This place is not for babies even though the website states babies as young as 4 months can have lessons. We had a lesson yesterday and although the instructor was nice enough, she seemed to have no knowledge or experience with babies. She asked that we make my baby roll off a platform and climb back on it. He is 6 months old. He just started sitting up. He doesnt understand or have the abiltity to do those things. So the lesson was a lot of dunking and nothing else. No safety skills taught to us or our son. Also, lets talk pandemic. There was no social distancing, mask wearing is not enforced and the instructors wear a face shield (tilted up so its useless) and no mask. Obviously, we wont return. Dont take your babies there or your children for that matter if you want to keep them safe and healthy. The whole experience was disappointing. *edit: I spoke to your staff on the phone and comunicated through email. Your response implies you tried to reach out unsuccessfully. Wrong. I refused to take down my reveiw and now your facility is shut down like i said would happen in my email. Face sheilds are not a replacement for masks! (NOV 15, 2020)*
We absolutely love this swim facility and we give them a 5 star rating. My son has been attending since May 2014 and he has progressed his swim techniques drastically. The staff is always friendly and very professional. My son enjoys attending swim lessons at Aqua Tots Novi and we plan to continue to keep him here.Thank You Aqua Tots Novi
Horrible management!!!! Unless u go and complain, they will have new instructor every 2 weeks. Each kid in a class gets 7 mins individual attention. In that 7 mins, there are so many distractions. I paid two years for my daughter ..for nothing. They wont push the kids to learn...it all about money. Those kids in the front desk are very rude and discriminating. if you ask for individual classes, they will say all are booked...because group classes are more $$ for them. I will recommend everyone to either signup through their city parks and rec swim classes or through lifetime. It works out lot cheaper than paying 80 bucks a month for being treated rudely. They dont deserve even a single star. It is rip off!!!
I like most of the coaches here but I don’t think the time is used efficiently in class. When the ratio is 4:1 and you pay over $20 for a half an hour class, I expect the instructors to start on time and not spend the last few minutes of class playing with the kids. This week we had a substitute instructor who spent almost half the class splashing the kids. He also waited for two children to begin the class (one was late and the other forgot goggles). If people are late bringing their children the class should start on time and welcome the late child with minimal interruption (not wait five minutes to begin). Will look at goldfish if this issue continues.
We have been very pleased with AquaTots in Novi. My Grandson was very apprehensive and fearful of going under water. The instructors and the staff were so kind and patient in doing everything possible to help him overcome his fear. They have been very accommodating to our needs. My Grandson is becoming more confident and has now advanced to the next level. He is so excited about learning new skills.
We were a little hesitant to put our 6 month old through swim class at first...but we went to Aquatots Novi the staff and the experience convinced us to continue the classes. The facility itself is clean and well maintained. The trainers are very friendly and patient with the babies / kids. My baby had a great experience and enjoyed her time playing and getting used to the water. Overall it was very good experience because courteous service at Acquatots
After only 5 weeks, we are seeing such strides in our kids abilities! We feel it is definitely worth our time (20 min drive) and money. The staff is friendly, efficient and share your excitement with the kids progress. I have had zero problems rescheduling when necessary (even at the last minute due to lost car keys!).

2022-03-18My son loves his swim class. Aqua Tots is a well run, clean and friendly establishment. The class sizes are small and their swim time is filled with learning and fun! They make it easy on parents and fun for the kids. I would highly recommend. Also Coach Charlie is amazing!

2022-01-31So far we are very satisfied with Aqua Tots Novi. I like that they give us weekly feedback and that our daughter gets stars weekly. At the Canton location, she had gone 1 whole month without getting any stars on her report card and I found that interesting as she was still progressing. They are very professional and kind. Our daughter loves going to her swim lessons.

2021-10-04I highly advise against sending ur kids to this swim school in Novi Mi. I have two kids in Aqua-Tots (Novi, MI) in level 5 and level 8.My daughter who is in level 8 is almost ready to graduate and be done with her swimming lessons. They both have tons of makeups and the issue is aqua tots have no spots available for them to use make ups.Is it like some kind of scam that I keep paying them month by month but cannot make use of the makeups to help them graduate. The coach changes are very frequent. The customer service is usually helpless to resolve anything.

2022-06-16Been here over 5 years and now i need to look for somewhere else.It used to be good for us.easy to makeup, reschedule, plenty of space for different time options. But things changed about 1 year ago.1. it’s really difficult to schedule a makeup class. You used to schedule it anytime (next week or even next month) but now they limited it to within a week.2. it’s almost impossible to schedule a makeup. 9 of 10 calls were responded as no availability.3. No flexibility on makeup change. I knew it’s policy. But the staff there were so kind and can make change on makeups that we can’t go last minutes. Now it’s a cold “No”.4. Coaches changes really fast.We were suggested to try Novi Athlete Club, which has less kids and more stable on coach.

2022-04-01Both my kids love Aqua Tots! We have tried the YMCA and Goldfish Swim School. Aqua Tots has been the absolute best school we’ve tried! My daughter loves Coach Sarah for her level 3 and my son has made so much progress in Level 2 I could not be happier!!!!!

2022-06-11We have been with this facility over 4 yrs, it had been great busy one prior to Covid.Nowadays, they are struggling in staffing, many classes have been cancelled at the last mins, tons of makeup classes issues but it is hardly to schedule a makeup classes. If you drop off the program and would like to use your makeup classes, you will have to continue paying a mount of money for using them up. It is ridiculous! So many of my friends chose to leave aqua-tots and joined other swimming schools. I am thinking of changing as well! Very disappointing.

2022-06-17My experience is very mixed. It used to be so much better. The instructors are still good and helpful, but the front staff seems annoyed and not interested in their jobs and more interested in texting on personal cell phones than acknowledging customers. When it happened once or twice it was no big deal but I come once a week and it happens every single time I’m there no matter who the employee is. There seems to be a real lack of leadership in the establishment, or a lack of training. I returned back to give them another try post Covid, but I was just disappointed. Customer service skills would go a long way here. Also, I had a canceled class already I’ve been back 3 weeks. Not good. And after reading the below reviews I’m ready to go back to Goldfish Swim School where these issues did not exist. If I were the owner reading these reviews I would be greatly concerned that more than one customer is calling the business a scam. You guys used to be so good, now people call you a scam. Sad.

2022-04-29We started in Feb and so far they have canceled 4 classes on us already. We only go 2 times a week so 4 canceled sessions is a lot. I understand accidents in the pool is not their fault but if they have to cancel it then they should refund us. Instead we get these make up sessions that we can never use because it’s always full. It’s like a scam. If a business cancels the class for whatever reason then the customer should be given the options to either get a refund or make up session. The staff there always seems nice and they don’t control the company’s cancellation policy but it needs to be changed.

2022-04-09Paid in this facility first time for swim lesson. First day swim class cancelled with no notice ahead! At the entrance, they sent us back home for some pool issue. 2nd time was okay. 3rd, 4th consecutively classes were cancelled!! Now there is a holiday so no class will be there. Sucks!! in a month, paid for 7 classes, attended 1, cancelled 4, holiday 1 and left with 1 which falls in May and they are asking I have to pay for that one May class.!! How a child will learn if theres so much cancellations and gaps. Auburn Hills location was much better and well organized. This Novi location is super small and Extremely congested. Every time any student vomits, they cancel the class. Not at all happy about it! How long it will go like this? Plus if you call them, you cant get a slot for makeup classes due to shortage of staff or any staff is coming late and then suggest you to look at the Portal and waalaa...there is no option for choosing a date either!! Suckksss! they dont deserve One star even from me!

2022-06-06Aquatots novi is a loving facility for teaching children how to learn swimming. The staff are polite and very professional. However, they offer programs that they dont have the ability to support and do not communicate the instructions for classes in detail. For example, their fast track clinic program is advertised as a way for the child to have more frequent classes with instuctors and advance in skills more quickly. While you get the impression this is a separate program and it is paid as a separate program. It is ultimately another regular class that your child attends at their level but more frequently. Once the child gets checked off on those skills and moves to a new level, the classes scheduled need to be rescheduled to the next level. This rescheduling falls on the parent and the staff will not take care of this or communicate this. And when you do try, they dont have the means to accommodate you because they are trying to fit your child into their normal level classes. I communicated my frustration to the location, the front desk staff and manager were in agreement that they dont have the means and staffing at the time to accommodate. This needs to change, if you cant accommodate, dont offer the program. I would like to speak with corporate or the owner to make it clear that this is false advertising and needs to change.
