I came in to have some general maintenance done - the easy stuff was done properly as far as I can tell although Im not sure how much to trust it (AC Fix, Differential Fluid Change, and Fuel Filter Change - there might be a related whine coming from the rear diff now, but I cant say conclusively). I also knew ahead of time that I had an issue with my right front Engine Mount and I asked them to take a look. They told me I had a suspension issue or tire rubbing... which I knew was not the issue as I had already checked this. I went elsewhere to get work done and had the engine mount replaced which fixed the issue. This makes it harder to trust their work was done properly, when I had come in, correctly told them the issue with my vehicle, and they did not recognize it and instead recommend alternative work. Pretty expensive for some easy maintenance jobs I would do myself with a lift. Ive gone elsewhere for more work on my vehicle and will continue to go elsewhere. Im disappointed, because I expected this place to be better than most considering their reputation and experience with euro vehicles.
My husband and I were on a road trip to the east coast from Grand Rapids, and during torrential downpours just outside of AA, the windshield wiper on our BMW became stuck in the upright position. We frantically searched for German car specialist and with a hope and prayer pulled into ArborMotion. Despite being fully backed up with jobs, two guys were willing to have a peek and were able to quickly fix our issue. Ten minutes later we were on our way. They saved our bacon and we will not forget it!
Fair price, punctual and attentive, work done accurately, and the chariot was washed upon completion. From beginning to end, a seamless experience and I WILL be back! Highly recommend ArborMotion to all my Euro-centric driving friends!

I can not say enough good things about Arbor Motion. They were honest about the issues with my car and straight forward about the cost of repairs and they were very helpful suggesting options to pay for repairs. Sebastian and the staff were courteous and the mechanics are knowledgeable in what they do. I would highly recommend taking your car there if you want the truth about your car and good honest service.
Arbor Motion did an excellent job of checking the coolant system on my Mini, replacing the air filter and rotating my tires. I will be using them in the future for my Mini service requirements.

The folks at Arbormotion know the European cars. They have a very slick interface for obtaining service and can handle the in process authorizations with ease. Better service here than at any dealership I have ever had. If you have a MINI Cooper in A2, then this is where your service should be done.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They communicated with me well both in person and over the phone about what issues my car had. I was able to ask questions without feeling like they just wanted to get me out the door.Their site is easily navigated. Using the site to see what diagnosis had been made and being able to approve the repairs online was easy and convenient. All the costs were laid out in an easy to understand manner and i was able to get exactly what i needed done without feeling like i was being overcharged.They got the parts needed for the repair faster than i could have by ordering the parts on my own, and at a similar cost. Time to repair was minimal once they got the parts in. They had my vehicle ready to go in les than a day after they installed the new parts.

Never get to talk to tech who works on car to find out how it faired in the process. Everything is electronic so when you get the bill thats more like a guy telling you without a printed invoice what it costs. Supposedly work on Lexus vehicles but notified me after having the car from 0800 through 1530 that they didnt have the part needed to open the transmission case for the drain and fill. They probably did all the work as described, but no way to really tell. Also, theyve never heard of filling out the vehicle maintenance log. Seems pretty basic mechanic stuff to fill out the log that belongs to the vehicle. Very disappointed in this shop.Edit: despite the experience they did offer to make it right which is awesome. Will try again the future.
First time here and giving it the highest rating. Working with this company is a breath of fresh air for car service. I feel confident taking my used Volvo here and will return. Explained details of what to fix and what not to fix (as it didn’t need it) gave detailed report of car. I feel they want to keep my car going as long as I do and have a vested interest in my car. Not just my money! Great place!

ArborMotion is setting an extremely high standard for auto service. I am impressed with their commitment to diagnose problems and provide feedback to the customer in specific and understandable terms. Most importantly ArborMotion does not give the customer any sense that they are trying to find excuses to charge you for more than is necessary. Arbormotion does top quality work, communicates really transparently about each decision point, and seems to be really fair and honest with customers. I had my car towed to their shop unannounced after having accidentally put regular gas into a diesel car. Despite being booked weeks out, they began working on my vehicle, and it’s somewhat rare problem, almost immediately. It ended up taking a month for them to work through the issues, but mostly because I hadn’t scheduled ahead, plus they had to research the correct fix, and I told them it was my second car and I wasn’t in a hurry. Bringing this problem to Arbormotion was a great decision, and my 2004 Golf TDI is running as well or maybe even a little better than it has in years. I’ll never bring my cars to a dealer again, Arbormotion is great!

I had 40,000 mile maintenance on my 2018 Prius done at ArborMotion recently. This was not my first visit. I originally came to AM looking for an alternative to Dunning Toyota, which was awful. I received courteous and efficient service. The Bosch connection gave me confidence. I highly recommend this business. I have since recommended AM to my son, who has a Mazda. He was also very satisfied.
Purchased new wheels and tires on Tire Rack and chose ArborMotion to have them installed and balanced. I dropped the car off the night before, and put my key in the secure lockbox with no worries of it being taken from the outside. I received a phone confirmation that my appointment was the next day as well. Then, on the day of the service they sent a confirmation email saying my car had been received. The service was done within 3 hours and the pickup process was just as smooth. Very professional service and would highly recommend!
Needed new battery late in the day for my VW Turbo S, ArborMotion had the correct battery and installed it. The pandemic has required closing their waiting room so they gave me a loaner to run errands. All done in an hour.

I started to have my 2012 Mercedes GL450 serviced by Arbormotion February of 2020. They have been able to service my cars every need since. I initially had repairs completed at Mercedes Benz of Ann Arbor & it felt as though I was being taken advantage of for similar repairs & maintenance to my vehicle. Im now spending significant less on service with Arbormotion & it feels great to have a trustworthy, friendly & professional auto repair service company take care of my vehicle. Theyre the best I know of in this area to service foreign base brands. Its been an awesome experience!
I have been using ArborMotion for the 3 years that I have owned this Volvo. They know Volvos inside and out. They are taking the COVID precautions very seriously and are almost no-contact, having set up shields around the entrance to the shop. I felt safe working with them. I drive up from Toledo just for an oil change from them. It may be a little more expensive and a drive but it is worth it. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and customer orientated. As long as I own a Volvo I will be taking it to ArborMotion.

Excellent service-oriented staff. All the staff seem quite knowledgeable and well informed about Volvo issues. Labor cost comes at a premium, though. Shuttle service is indispensable, and the drivers are all very friendly and engaged. Very personable all around. A washed car at the end of service is also nice.

Headlight bulb replacement
Arbormotion has worked on all my family’s cars over the years. Very professional and knowledgeable across German, Swedish and our Japanese brands. Couple of our cars made it to 250,000 miles with their help.
Friendly staff and wonderful service! I got a full detail as well as an oil change and new tires, and the whole process was very efficient and professional. My car was in the shop for a few days, but the free shuttle service was very convenient and I didnt even miss my car while it was gone. It returned good as new! I will definitely be back. Thanks!

I was referred to Arbor Motion by a colleague at work. Up until then I had been using Belle Tire for repairs and maintenance on my 2002 5 series BMW. I knew immediately that it would be a quality experience. Drew and Jason took a consultative approach, discussed various options with me and offered flexible alternatives on OEM parts. The technicians did an amazing job replacing my front struts and lower control arms. Since my first visit Ive had the car back for two minor repairs and Arbor Motions renowned detailing service. I cant imagine taking my vehicle anywhere else. I would highly recommend Arbor Motion to anyone but specifically to owners of European Luxury Sport Cars or Sedans and Japanese Luxury models. They have an excellent relationship with part suppliers and there techs are typically master certified on the particular models they specialize in (Volvo, BMW, Lexus, Porsche). Scheduling, shuttle service and on time completion of the work quoted are just a few of the attributes that encouraged me to write this review and recommend this business. Arbor Motion. 5 stars.

This is the best automotive service one could ever hope for. ArborMotion provides the ultimate in customer service and auto care. Ive been a loyal customer for the past eight years, and have continued to take my Volvo there even after moving to Rochester, NY, and Chicago.At about 4:30pm on Christmas eve, I unrolled my windows and and couldnt roll them back up. I had to drive back to Chicago on Christmas morning, and anyone who has lived through a mid-western winter knows how unpleasant driving with the windows down in winter would be. My husband suspected a fuse had been blown, so tried replacing it, twice, to no avail. I quickly called ArborMotion and asked if they were still open. Tim, the Operations Manager, answered and told me to bring my car in right then. When we arrived, we noticed that it was completely empty except for Tim who had stayed behind to help me with my minor car trouble. Tim immediately got to problem solving, and was ultimately able to solve the problem so Id have a safe and warm drive back. He also replaced the bulbs in one of my tail lights. He was so understanding, kind, and helpful. I cant imagine being crazy about having to stay behind on Christmas eve to help some lady with some dysfunctional windows, but Tim did so with the utmost of graciousness and kindness. And, he had sent everyone home early so they could be with their families! How amazing is that?! I drove away feeling grateful, safe, and eager to take my car back to ArborMotion just to have another awesome experience.This was only the latest in amazing experiences Ive had at ArborMotion. I use Arbor Motion for all my automotive service needs. They treat my Volvo likes it was their own. All service is explained, and you never feel like they are trying to scam you into service you dont need. You can speak with a service advisor or your technician for clarification of the condition of your vehicle. I could type quite a bit, but for brevity sake, I will say that they have excellent mechanics that work on my SUV and car.. And the service office personnel have been topnotch. I have a 2008 Porsche Cayenne that has almost 200,000 miles. My SUV is a road warrior. I use it for business, vacations, and everyday use. There have been a number of mechanical issues this year. I feel when there is an issue I can trust them to fix it the right way with integrity. I trust them to fix my vehicle at a fair price. As, a customer that is all you can ask.
I recently purchased a Amazon local deal for wheel alignment package and went in for a alignment for my vehicle. The deal was worth about ~$100 and I paid about a half that amount, so it seemed like a good deal. The day I make my appointment, they say the deal doesnt include anything but toe adjustment so anything else they need to do will be extra. I OKed and thought it wouldnt be too much more than I expected. They first quoted 2 hours for the wheel alignments, stating that BMWs require adjustment of caster, camber and toe. It seemed like a reasonable amount of time for the technician to take and get the job done well.I come to pick up my car and I see ~$240 in the invoice which is more like 2.5 hours of work. That meant that I needed to pay ~$140 out of my pocket. Then, I hear that they could not adjust camber because I do not have the right suspension which I was aware of. What I was surprised with the establishment is that they took all 2 hours and some more to figure out that they could not adjust the camber and I ended up paying more for the job that I could have gotten somewhere else. All respectable independent shops would charge somewhere around $150 for wheel alignments, not ~$240. I ended up paying ~$140 thats out of my pocket in addition to ~$50 that I paid for the deal voucher, equaling ~$190.I have nothing against this establishment but the deal seemed like a cheap trick to lure customers in for quick bucks. I did enjoy the professionalism at the check out desk.

Ive been going to Arbor Motion for 12 years for service on my vehicles (some I still own, others long gone). In all my years with AM (they were called Swedish Engineering), Ive always had excellent service. Their estimates and time to complete are always very accurate and competitive. Any time I need service on my vehicles, Ill compare pricing and always go to AM. Great service, great staff.
Arbor Motion is one of only two places where I get my BMW serviced. They are very knowledgeable, courteous, and do outstanding work. The one time there was a small issue with the service I had performed, Sebastian dealt with it in a very professional manner, and offered an interior detail as compensation for the extra visit.
Seems expensive but very professional and the work is solid. If getting the job done right is more important to you than getting the cheapest price then ArborMotion is definitely the way to go.
I recently visited Michigan with my daughter to tour U of M. After being dropped off by Air Ride in the middle of Ann Arbor, we proceeded to look for a taxi to take us to our hotel. There were no taxis in sight, so we rolled our luggage down the street and happened upon a car show. We asked a fellow who seemed to be in charge if he knew where we could pick up a taxi. The man introduced himself to us as Tim, from ArborMotion, and told us he had a driver coming downtown to drop off some signs. He insisted that his driver take us to our hotel. The driver, Steve, arrived a few minutes later and happily drove us to our hotel. What a warm welcome to Ann Arbor! I could not have been more impressed with both of them. They were kind, friendly, and very helpful. Thank you, Tim and Steve, for going out of your way to help us! We really appreciate it!

I called to ask for a quote on replacing a specific part and the man on the phone obviously didnt want to give me one. I said I understood that it could be more if they found other issues along the way and just wanted to to get a basic idea, but that didnt help. Finally I asked if it was unusual to ask for a quote and he said that it was. I asked if I should just call a different shop and he said that would be good and hung up on me. I suspect other reviewers are correct when they complain of high labor costs.
Ive been going to Arbor Motion for years. Although I now live an hour away, I still bring them my A6 for fast, thorough, and honest work. As a female whos not mechanically savvy, I never doubt their recommendations and many times Ill ask for a service and am told its not needed yet. Arbor Motion will continue to have my business.
I pulled to have them look at a missing light bulb. Chuck, the man who waited on me, had me immediately pull into the bay. He examined the problem, and promptly fixed it. I was very pleased with the courteous service and the little time it took to get my problem fixed. So, I made an appointment to get an oil change and learned Id receive a $25 coupon as a new customer.
I really like this place. I took my car to them years ago and then moved to another town. I have moved back to the area and am now taking my car to them again. They are to my car what my vet is to my cats. Such a great group of people. They cover all the bases and are masters at car care. But even more than that, they show genuine concern for their clients. I had a very bad experience at a local Porsche dealership for my 2002 911. I called ArborMotion and had a great client service experience, was called back within a day with all the needed info by Nick. The estimate was much lower than at the official dealership, and much more detailed and clear to me what they were planning to do. Nick even called me the day before the appointment to see if there were any questions! Going to bring my car today for all the work, will keep you updated on the experience..

Arbor motion figured out something major going on with my 2018 SUV that the dealership couldnt figure out. They basically rebuilt the rear differential due to damage from having 2 different size tires that were put on my vehicle without my knowledge. They really listened to me and put all the pieces together to figure out what was wrong and repaired my SUV.
Took the Baja in for its regular oil change and a diagnosis of the roaring muffler! My son said it wasnt that bad, but when my grandson heard me coming from around the corner, I could only imagine replacing the entire exhaust system! Thanks to Quinn -- he found a short exhaust sleeve in front of the muffler that had a large hole in it. Replaced it, low cost, and my Subaru is purring again! Thanks, Quinn, and Thanks Arbor Motion!

The staff are very friendly, efficient & thorough in evaluating the problem I had with my car. They corrected the trouble I was experiencing with my car and made sure the problem was cleared up before notifying me it was ready to go. Its always a treat to pick up my car that also been freshly washed & dried after servicing. Thats something most dealerships never do. ArborMotion goes a step beyond other car repair facilities. They are outstanding.
Took my Porsche there for some modifications to the coolant system to allow me to pass track tech inspection. Overall my experience was fantastic! Great communication and no surprises. The team was quick to respond to a post-service issue I had and got things sorted out quickly and me back on the road. Id highly recommend them and Ill be using them as my local Porsche shop.

Courteous, friendly, clean facility. I asked for a full inspection. Arbor Motion reported their findings verbally and with pictures then performed the required maintenance in a professional, timely manner. The car is happy; I am happy.
The way my BMW was serviced is outstanding. I made an appointment and dropped my car off the night before. The next morning by 10:00 I received an estimate of the diagnostic costs. After the diagnosis I received the estimate for the work to be done, approved it over the phone and was told that they would try to get the work done that day, which they did. The cost actually turned out to be less because it wasnt necessary to do the additional diagnostic test they originally thought they would need to do. Of course, this is unusual, but when was the last time that happened? I trust their word, their work, theyre professionals in the way they do business, and my car is running perfectly. This is my new go-to place!
My car battery gave up. Previously, Id always had my car serviced at the dealer where I bought it, but Id become tired of their turnover and poor attention to detail. I decided to give Arbor Motion a try, as my husband had been happy with their service. In addition to replacing the battery, they looked over the filters and oil and figured out that I was overdue for my 80K mile service. They were willing to schedule the service for the next day, but I needed my car, so they not only fit me in that week, but they made sure I could have a loaner car for the day. All of their staff have been friendly, professional, and thorough, plus their online estimate system is a very effective way to communicate and track the service.

As always Arbor Motion excelled at providing top notch care for my Volvo. I had gone in a few weeks ago to replace a light bulb and talked about bringing the car in for an oil change. Chuck scheduled it and also said he’d do a complimentary pit stop check since it had been a while since the car was serviced. Took my car in last week got the complimentary ride to and from work. The Volvo was checked out thoroughly and Bob advised me of things to do to keep it running in top gear. My teens who drive the car noticed how smooth of a ride they had after it was serviced. As a dad I feel that much better that they drive a safe reliable car thanks to the servicing at Arbor Motion with Chuck and team. Thanks guys!

As always, my last service call with Arbor Motion was a great experience. I was told it would take approximately an hour. They had my car completed and checked me out within an hour. They did not try to upsell me on anything, but gave me a comprehensive report on what they found when inspecting my car. I highly recommend Arbor Motion!
First of all, the facilities here are top notch. They shop bays are clean and organized and each features a computer terminal, which allows the techs to accurately diagnose and repair even the most advanced vehicle systems. They also feature a detailing service and will wash your vehicle after service-dealership level service without the drama.I discovered Arbor Motion while collecting quotes for a major drivetrain repair on my vehicle. Drew provided a detailed quote, explained the repair and also came in $200 less than any other shop in Ann Arbor (I called 10 other shops, both local and national chains). Following the repair, which took 2 days less than estimated, I was surprised to find that that the completed work cost $400 less than the original estimate. Major win!Mike and Drew provided great service throughout, and I will be bringing my other vehicles here in the future. Highly recommended.

Dropped off my 2011 Mini Cooper S Clubman for service, on a Friday morning,730am appointment. A fast diagnosis and estimate was given by around 11am with costs and timing explained over the phone. Pricing was much better than dealer pricing.Good PDF report was generated after the service explaining their technicians’ diagnosis and service recommendations with pictures provided of vehicle state before the service was performed.Communication was great and hope that any future issues are handled as smoothly as this service visit.My only small complaint is that the shuttle service does not go as far out as Canton, MI. However, that is understandable.
They really came through with a last minute service need for my Porsche. Very professional, and they included an exterior detailing after the service! I will be returning next time I need work done on the car!

I am on a cross country trip from California to Florida. I am doing this in a 1975 BMW 2002. While visiting friends in Ann Arbor, the car experienced a major oil leak. Uncertain about the extent of the problem, my friends and I examined import car specialists in Ann Arbor. Based on Arbor Motions reviews, I called, explained my situation, asked if they had experience with the 2002 model, and made my sense of urgency clear. Arbor Motion committed to a same day diagnosis and assured me that they are familiar with the 2002. On that basis I had the car towed to the shop. I was immediately impressed by the number of bays, the cleanliness of the facility, and the friendliness of the staff. One of the bays had another 2002 which made me very comfortable that the car was in good hands. I left the car at the shop and was contacted before 5pm to be told that the problem was minor and I could pick up the car. The person who I first spoke to at the shop, Chuck, was the person that called me. Hes very friendly and personable. In addition, hes a good mechanic since it appears he was the primary trouble shooter. Excellent communication! When I made a comment about the source of parts, Chuck identified two of the most respected and reasonable 2002 parts suppliers nationally. He offered that if it was my preference to source the parts myself, that I could. Since I was not able to pick up the car for another three days, Chuck assured me the car would be safe and that there was no storage cost. The cost to fix the leak (an inappropriately installed oil filter) was minimal and the staff wished me well with the rest of my trip which had been uneventful until this. A very good experience!
I had a slow leak in one of my cars tires. My father, a retired automotive mechanic, told me to go to a tire shop and have them make the repair with a patch. Im new to Ann Arbor so I searched Google Maps for the nearest tire shops in the area, and I came across Ann Arbor Tire, which I believe is just another name for the tire services of ArborMotion. They set up an appointment for me the following morning, so I expected a short wait time. They waited on me immediately upon my arrival. I waited in their waiting room, which is small but very hospitable. The friendly and professional service manager quoted me a price in person before service was rendered. I waited over 90 minutes before the work was complete. The price was $42 for tire patching, and another $42 for tire rotation & balance, which I had planned on getting done. A Google search beforehand told me $20 was the fair price for tire patching, so I was not happy getting out the door for $85. They did take it out for a test drive, top off my washer fluid, rinse off the outside of my car, and pull the car right up to the service desk as I was checking out. I was happy to get this fixed quickly, and confident that the job was done competently. I would recommend this place for superior service, however I myself will probably look elsewhere in the future for a more competitive price. Im not sure its applicable here, but my experience is that car repair shops in college towns tend to charge unfairly high prices, taking advantage of naïve college students who often have their parents credit cards at their disposal. Or it could just be that the cost of living is just much higher here. I also note that this business advertises their membership in the ubiquitous Chamber of Commerce, a crony-capitalist (read anti- free market) political group that I try not to support.

Upfront, straight shooters. May not be the cheapest place in town, but you get what you pay for; clean, professional, excellent communicators who are knowledgeable about auto repair. Customer service is a priority demonstrated through appointment scheduling and a car wash with service. They are my preferred service provider in town.

Ive been taking my cars, including my wifes 4-Runner and Tacoma to ArborMotion for years. They are always polite and prompt, and depending on the length of time required for the repairs, they either give me a lift home or provide a loaner. Since I drive my cars up to and past 200,000 miles, there can be a lot of complicated problems to solve, and they always do so quickly and professionally. Id recommend ArborMotion to anyone who needs detailing or repairs.
Very pleased with my choice to move from maintenance service at the Lexis dealer to Arbor Motion where I receive expertise coupled with fair value -- eliminating unnecessary luxury -- $ duplications. This is also where I have my 911 serviced, and for the same reasons.Next episode: On-target diagnosis of problem causing engine warning light to come on in the 911 advising immediate service -- or else!Outcome: Car has been re-fitted with 6 new ignition coils and is now as good or possibly better than new. (The old coil housings of poor design/materials, were cracked causing water to enter.) Once again, this shop has proven its no-fuss expertise. Thank you Nick.
I swear by this place. Everything is remarkably streamlined and the staff is as friendly as it gets. Not your typical mechanic. Zero chance of being ripped off. Go to them.
Highly professional and polished. But, Labor charges and times are more expensive than the dealership. Wanted an additional diagnostic hour for checking an ODB code over top of another full hour to diagnose something else - I mean, come on. It takes literally 2 minutes to check the code and youve already got lots of labor time already. Multi-point inspection recommended simply performing any possible maintenance service. Performed a repair that they didnt need to - a gasket was changed by another shop recently, they went ahead and changed it again. I would have been better served at the dealership. I should say again, everyone was very courteous and professional - but its a dealer-type approach at more than the dealer cost, so why bother.

After taking my vehicle to a dealership and being told they were unable to find the problem with my car, I decided to check out ArborMotion. Within an hr or so of dropping my vehicle off, I received a detailed email with photos of the bad part. ArborMotion was able to diagnose and replace the part the same day! I know I saved a few hundred dollars verse the dealership and was able to be safely back on the road the same day. The funny thing is, I dont own an import!
As always, I was happy with the repair job from ArborMotion. They finished before scheduled, and after the repair job, did an overall check. They found my wiper blades to be worn and suggested they be replaced. I had been meaning to replace them for some time but would always forget how bad they were until it rained! These new wiper blades are awesome!! And, of course, I love the fact that they hand wash and dry my car after the repair job is completed. Thank you ArborMotion

Im a first-time customer of ArborMotion, getting my wifes 2015 Boxster serviced. Even though its still in warranty, I didnt want to pay high dealer prices for a simple oil and filter change and inspection. ArborMotion got the car in quickly, did everything needed, sent me emails on the progress they were making, and finished the job in a very reasonable time frame. Plus a free wash job even though it didnt really need it! Most important, they did quality, careful work at a very fair price. Every aspect of my interaction with ArborMotion was positive. Their team of technicians went overboard working a particularly tricky problem with my Mustang. Yes a Mustang. They work on domestic brands also. Check-in, keeping me posted on progress, and check-out were all smooth and fast. The service advisor is an excellent communicator and made sure my expectations were set so I could plan accordingly. The car was washed to perfection. And I have to provide a special call out to Steve who is an impressive courtesy driver that engaged in intelligent conversation during my transport. The entire operation runs like a fine tuned engine.

I had the premium interior detailing service done on my 3YO G37, and the results were great. The light-colored interior was showing every speck of dirt and grime it had collected since I bought it, but when I picked the car up yesterday it was spotless - the door thresholds, the spots where winter slop sometimes leaks off the edge of the floormat, the place where the seat belt rubs/discolors the seat leather, and pretty much every other interior surface - all perfectly clean.If you enjoy driving a clean car, consider leaving yours with these folks. If you’re trying to come up with a birthday present for your car-enthusiast spouse, this would be a good choice!Update, 1 year later:3 months after Arbor Motion detailed my G37 last year, I totaled it. :-( I replaced it with a 1YO Q50, and last week I had Arbor Motion do their premium interior detail service for me. As before, they did an impossibly good job: the cars interior looks like it just rolled out of the factory. On top of that, Arbor Motion was very accommodating for my unusual drop-off and pick-up needs.It seems Google wont let me post two separate reviews, so consider this single 5-star review to carry the weight of two five-star reviews. :-)
I had my 8 year old car detailed today; it looks brand new!The technician was James Crawford; he was professional, polite and detailed every inch of my car. The car I brought in had years of gunk stuck to the fenders, last winters salt and plenty of dog hair; the car I picked up was spotless! James did an amazing job.Its also worth noting that I received this service using a certificate I purchased that the shop donated to a local fundraiser. They did not make a penny on this job but I still received top dollar service! This was my first time there, but I will be back!
Great place to get you cars maintenance done, not to mention a great staff. They were able to do a 4-wheel alignment on my wifes 2008 CRV, that other shops were unable to, after cupping three sets of tires, and 150,000 miles. Pricey, but peace of mind.

This is a honest review, coming from a real customer who has done a decent amount of work on my own cars. Ill provide a summary for those who dont want to read something so long. Then details below for those that do.Overall Summary: A quality shop that focuses on doing the right thing for the customer and their safety, as well as focus on long term cost of ownership instead of up front price. They really do want to provide a good experience for the customer,, especially if you have an issue with the work.Now, up front costs could be higher than other shops in Ann Arbor and ArborMotion could over-engineer/over-recommend a job or replacement, but in my opinion, is all within good reason and justification. Not to nickle and dime you for more money.Details----------------------------------------The Shop: Very clean shop with clean and organized bays as well. Someone did mention it gives dealer vibes, which is true in a sense, but I dont see a problem with that. They use software to send you case notes, pictures and to get written approval, which in my opinion makes things very convenient.The Pricing: Labor rates, in my opinion are fair for a shop of this size and skill level of labor force. You could find cheaper labor rates at some smaller shops, but Id still bring my car here for the level of service and quality backup. Markup on parts also was fair (not great, but not so expensive) as I compared ArborMotion to online OEM distributors. They fell in between the middle among competitors for OEM part pricing, which for a shop in my opinion, is pretty good. Also have to keep in mind, that they do service high end cars as well so rates may not be like a shop that focuses only on Hondas or Toyotas.The Experience: I had the front passenger lower control arm repaired on my 10 MazdaSpeed3 - brought it in because it snowed and I dont have a garage anymore. When I received the diagnosis and quote for parts, the service rep accurately knew details specifically about the LCA on my Mazda. In this case the bushing is unique and cannot simply be replaced standalone. Parts were replaced and vehicle was repaired completely to the level of quality I expected. Ive driven over a few thousands miles at this time of this review with no issues (will update as I go). Their tech provided a inspection results form, which DID NOT over recommend any unneeded repairs. Everything they had noted on their inspection were items that I agree and known needed to be replaced.I did not feel pressure to repair anything extra with them either. Thats a huge plus.What may be unique about my experience is that there was one instance of something that I was not 100% satisfied with. I reached out to management and they truly went BEYOND expectations to resolve my issue. This included meeting in person to discuss the issue, re-assess the issue on the vehicle and then take proper action to truly ensure I was satisfied with my experience and the shop. This at the end is completely why I would pay a bit more to obtain the absolute right level of service and know that the shop would resolve my issues, rather than pay a little less up front and then run into an issue where I know there would be no follow up support.This last aspect of my experience is the main reason I will continue to bring my vehicles here for servicing on items that I cannot or will not do myself.
I trust the quality of the work at Arbor Motion. Just as importantly, I trust that I will be charged fairly for only the work that is necessary. I wish I’d found them sooner...could have avoided a number of unnecessarily expensive misadventures at the dealership.
Mike and Laura are the best - great communication, insight into the needs of the vehicle and the customer. I highly recommend the shop for repairs. In my case a water pump, timing chain and a new clutch for a 2.0 Wolfsburg Jetta. The new sport clutch is a test for my clutch leg. Havent stalled yet, although traffic jams are a test of fortitude.
This was the second visit for us to ArborMotion. Absolutely thrilled with the technical and customer service for my Volvo XC90. Laura and Chuck were my service advisors for this visit; Laura kept me informed as to how things were progressing via phone and/or email during the day, and both Laura and Chuck were pleasant and helpful. It was so nice to approve each work item, that I wanted done, online---pricing was clear, and the process was easy and quick. During our first visit, almost a year ago, we had to have an oil leak repaired---they saved us a ton of money versus the quote we had from the dealer. We have been going to ArborMotion (used to be Sweedish Engineering) for about 15 years now, and we would not go anywhere else. Over the years, we are convinced that they have saved us money and time, and made our car maintenance experience more enjoyable. In fact, when we think about buying a new car (which for us is always a used car), we only buy what they can service and fix (which now is just about every make).
Since the owner has already informed me that he will respond with all of his data points, I can only hope to help others that wish to do their homework. After some previous concerns, I again elected to try and work with ArborMotion for maintenance and diagnostic on my Porsche Boxster. To keep to the most focal point, I was quoted $995 for a Bosch starter, plus labor. I was assured since they were a preferred Bosch Certified Center, this was a good price. A quick google search raised questions, since you could buy a NEW, not rebuilt Bosch starter for this car for $270 online. I then called two other local shops that work on Porsche, one quoted $670 installed, the other $475 installed. Going with the lower price option was interesting, initially quoting 2.4 hours labor, it took less time, I left with a great job for $452. I have tried to understand this, have heard much rationalization, but glad I didn’t blindly trust them.

Was in town for a tour at U M when my check engine light came on I looked at some shops and seen the ratings for Arbor Motion. So I thought I’ll give it a try. I roll in and speak to the service desk, tell them I’m 300 miles from home my light is on, would they tell me what the problem is. a customer service rep named Chuck told me to bring it in. He hooked up the OBD reader and tells me it just the vapor leak from the capless fuel door. Peace of mind is priceless. Chuck would not even charge me, or let me pay them some lunch moneySo if my son decides to attend UM, you can bet his car will be serviced at Arbor Motion. It’s hard to find honest folks when your out of town.
Nick was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions for my pre purchase inspection, and spoke very candidly in order for me to make the right decision.

Had my car detailed here. The assistant detailing manager (?) Lee knocked it out of the park. He got salt damage out of the carpets that I knew for a fact was permanent. Cleaned the carpet and seats of random debris that I had been unable to vacuum out. The car just sparkles. Fantastic job, far exceeded my expectations. Ill be visiting them again.

2022-07-09I check with Arbor Motion about all my auto repairs. I have a 2008 Porsche Cayenne and a 2016 Mercedes 300 GLC. They have consistently repaired my cars well and they stand behind their work.

2022-06-06Had multiple fault codes/warning lights pop up — ABS, PSM, etc. and an air bag system warning message. First trip took care of the warning (idiot) lights which restored cruise control, PSM, etc. But, despite work done didn’t fix the air bag system issue. Second trip, with outside help, got that fixed, too. I applaud their sticktoitiveness! Thanks to the staff and Sebastian, the owner for going above and beyond.

2021-12-19I experienced the most mediocre customer service at Arbormotion out of any mechanic shop I’ve been to, which surprised me considering it’s both the highest rated and most expensive one. I brought in an ‘06 Lexus RX330 for a set of new tires. It had the best ratings on Tire Rack and I figured if I was already paying a lot for the tires, I might as well get them installed by the best.Once the work was finished, the shop called me and said the final price was $244, a bit higher than the $222 that I was quoted when I accepted the extra work (mount and balance four tires, swapping the spare with one of the old tires, and disposal fee). I asked if it was possible to go with the price he had given me before I accepted, and he seemed displeased that I had even suggested that.If he had just politely said that there was nothing he could do, I would’ve been fine with that. Later, at the shop, I received the discount, but he seemed unhappy about the whole situation. I’d rather have dealt with a friendly person and not gotten the discount but instead, I saved $20 and was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Finally, when I measured the cold air pressure, I found all four tires overinflated unevenly at 34, 34, 35, and 37 psi instead of the 30 psi clearly stated on the inside of the driver’s side. Tire pressure is so simple to get right, I was more surprised than upset that they managed to get it wrong.

2022-03-02Arbormotion is the complete service resource. As usual, I was greeted, my vehicle records recalled, an appointment scheduled and service performed on time and on budget. The vehicle was examined for issues as part of the process. I can only join hundreds of others n commending the courtesy, professionalism and expertise to be found at Arbormotion!

2022-02-01Update: Sebastian the owner gave me a call and corrected the issue by giving me a refund. He was very apologetic and I felt like he truly cared about my experience and the reputation of the company. 1 star to 3 stars after two phone calls.Terrible experience.Dropped my car off for a check engine light that indicated my thermostat needed to be replaced. Even though the issue was already known when I walked in, they charged my $150 dollars to diagnose it with no mention of this cost up front. After receiving their estimate (also double + what other estimates were) I decided not to go with them. When I questioned what they did to diagnose the problem they had no information besides checking the light - which was completed before coming in and takes 30 seconds - 1 minute to do.0 issues fixed, 150 dollars spent with no explanation or heads up. I will be telling everyone I know not to use this shop.
