Poor experience after poor experience, they try to make up for somethings such as my air conditioning being broke my first 2 weeks i moved in for the price you pay and mandatory insurance it’s useless you are paying for the look of the inside the apartment. I have videos of every time it rains in two of my rooms i have over $2000 in damage that was not covered under the insurance because property told them it was “normal wear and tear” i would not have renewed my lease had I knew that. How could rain coming through the roof normal? Cant wait to leave this place when my lease is up
I stayed here for 5 years and I’ve enjoyed my stay. In my opinion, the newest staff here has been the best. The management/leasing team are very responsive and helpful. The maintenance staff are really cool people too. Always speaking and helping when needed. The neighborhood for the most part is quiet, I’ve only known of a few incidents that have occurred here, and the neighbors that I’ve had were very pleasant. There are cons but not a ton and the few are mostly me nitpicking. Parking can become a headache if you don’t have a garage, luckily I did. Living on the first floor, I did have folks sit in take cars with their headlights on which would peer into my living and bedroom. On snow days, it could take a while for the snow to be cleared and still expect to shovel. Since I’m from the South, this was a huge distain since I’m not used to snow in the first place.Overall, I would recommend Auburn Gate! It was close to my job and being across from Great Lakes Crossing doesn’t hurt either. The folks who work there will take care of you.
Have lived here for 2.5 years now. Excellent place to live. Great facilities for the price. It is right next to I-75 and takes 35-45 minutes to downtown Detroit, depending on traffic. The staff is very helpful, especially Sarah, and responds quickly to any issues.Highly recommended.
Absolutely do not rent an apartment from here. I have lived here for 3 years and I can’t wait for my lease to be up. The past 12 months have been hell and the complex has taken a dramatic decline in all aspects. The other neighbours are extremely disrespectful - It’s like being back in college dorms with the loud, thumping music on week nights. You will never be able to get through to the main office to make a complaint either. They’re always unavailable. There is dog poo in every corner of the apartment complex. Although, there are many dog waste bins and bags available - no one is using them. It’s gross. Car parking spaces are extremely limited! Especially on the weekends. You will end up parking a walk away from your door. The only positive is the maintenance team, especially Karl. He is very attentive and good at his job. All in all, the first two years were fine. The past twelve months have been dreadful and we can’t wait to leave.
This place used to be called Cedarbrook and everything was well managed. The rent was reasonable with water included.Later Beztak took over and changed the name to Auburn Gate. Nothing is good after that. They raised the rent and charged water separately at about $94/mon for an apartment without showing actual usage. I bought a new construction house in RH and moved out in 2018. My current water bill is only about $88 for two months, ~$120 for two mon in the summer with sprinklers running. Right after I moved out they didnt send bills to my forwarding address but to a collection agency. Luckily, I paid right away without penalty. How stupid for a property management company.Cedarbrook was very good but think twice about Auburn Gate.
Theres a reason that they ask you for a 5 star review right as you move in- when I walked into the unit I thought our apartment was great! New appliances, lots of space. However, once you start living and look a little closer you start to notice why they have so many poor reviews from people that have already lived there. It is very clear that the apartments are not made well. I have not even been in my unit a month and our air conditioning has broken, half of the doors dont close right, we had water damage, electrical issues, stones were falling off of the building, and the paint jobs are shoddy. The only thing that has gotten fixed is the air conditioning, and that is because it was 90 degrees and I have a dog- and even then I had to call about 10 times over 4 days to get that fixed. They are also RIGHT next to the highway so you never really get peace and quiet (although it is convenient)- and driving through the complex is a nightmare with all of the unmarked speed bumps. I was so excited that I had found a place to live for the next few years and now I am already itching to get out. A huge disappointment.
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!Our lower level apartment flooded on June 8th, 2021 due to their drainage and foundation issues, and it’s been over 3 weeks since anyone has addressed any issues of flooding in my apartment so now mold has formed behind the baseboards!! We’ve emailed and called and still cannot get a response from anyone! We’re in the process of getting all and any fees waived due to their negligence and breaking our lease due to our apartment being uninhabitable for almost a full month!!
Dont do it! The units are decent but that is about it. The office staff is terribly rude and unprofessional. Nobody takes accountability for their actions or the lack thereof. Maintenance takes a lifetime to fix anything. They are dishonest in their dealings. They will inconvenience you without a care in the worldFor the price of these apartments, I expected much more. I lived here for over 2 years, as long as you dont need to talk to the office and nothing breaks, its decent. The office staff has their picks and chooses and that in itself is tacky. My last horrible interaction with them was move out weekend. Informed them mid week of my intentions, got the okay to move forward then the say before my move I recieved a call informing me I have to stop everything because someone complained about a park space. There is a football field of park spaces in my location, parking isnt a true issue. Long story short, this resulted in the staff calling me, threatening to tag and tow my vehicle for using it to block off parking spaces for delivery of a POD the next morning (which I notified the office of 2 days prior to this day, and only takes 10 mins or so) and told me i had to have the POD placed about 2 parking LOTS away from building door! Keep in mind its a large parking lot THEN a row of garage units THEN another row of parking and they told me to place my storage unit across the lot from that back row of parking. Its quite a distance and very unrealistic in 30 degree weather nonetheless. Also, I have seen several other use POD storage units and park them in the exact same front parking space that I blocked off for my POD. Did I mention they called the cops because I wouldnt move my car!?! The cops agreed with me and felt bad that I was clearly being treated subpar. Also, the cop was not told the whole story... Imagine that... I am so glad to be moving out of this place! It was horrible transferring to my current unit and its horrible try to move out. I sincerely feel they are targeting and harrassing me and I certainly plan to take things further. If you have any other options for a place to live, please explore them prior to choosing this place. If it waant for the horrible staff, Id give it a 7 out of 10. With the office staff, if I could give them a 0, I would.
Couldn’t have asked for a better apartment!High quality, great people, and the management team is spectacular! They’re on top of everything! My wife leaves for work at 4:30 every morning and the roads seem to always be clear. They even salt and scrape the walkways! To help explain the quality of these apartments, the cars in the parking lot of my building were a Tesla, a Jaguar, a few BMWs, and plenty of other well-kept vehicles. (My 20 year old Camry felt a little out of place. Lol)It’s a very active community of all ages and ethnicities and the amenities are like nothing I’ve seen at any other apartment community.Top-notch, no doubt! We have to move cities for my wife’s job, but I genuinely hate having to leave this community. All-around fantastic experience and I would recommend Auburn Gate to anyone!
Auburn Gate is the most poorly run property I have ever lived at. The property manager, Kari Stevens refuses to answer phone calls or repair orders. I am a CANCER PATIENT and I have explained to Auburn Gate the urgency for them to check my apartment for mold after it flooded 3 months ago and they still have yet to have anyone come out!!!! I have filed a complaint with the health department and hope something gets done immediately.
So far so good! The staff is friendly, the maintenance is incredible. If theres ever an issue in my apartment they are typically on it within days or the same week. I love having yoga every other Wednesday, I just wish it was weekly. Im surprised they dont host more events or things for the community. I feel safe in the neighborhood and enjoy jogging throughout it. My neighbors are generally friendly and not extremely noisy.
Not impressed at all with this property. Please dont be fooled by the beautiful updated models they show you when the leasing office takes you for a tour.We leased (still am) an updated unit and at first glance it does look nice but of course the longer we live here the worse it gets. The finishes are cheap, the trimwork is cheap, the whole thing is cheap.Signed my lease in June 2020 and literally from day one its been hell.End of June/ almost entire month of July, air conditioning unit was not working properly even though I signed a lease and there was nothing disclosed about the air conditioning not working properly. Was told it was inspected and on the day it was inspected the high for the day was 75 degrees. Our first DTE bill was almost over 400 dollars. Took 2 weeks to receive a new unit. Try living in an upstairs apartment with 2 small children when the temp inside the apartment is reaching 85 degrees at night. The next few months the stove was not working properly and had to be replace, our refrigerator stopped working and had to be replace, our kitchen sink was leaking and had to be fixed, the recently replaced air conditioning unit was leaking onto our entry and had to be fixed. On top of having to have these things fixed, the timelines we received from the office varied immensely from when these things were fixed and this happened multiple times for each issue. The contractors that were sent to our house did not wear masks even though we are in the middle of a pandemic. Which i have pictures of, that was captured by my security camera. If you have a problem, expect it to take a while before its taken care of. Front office staff lies and is extremely rude. They do not return phone calls, ever. I was supposed to be emailed by the property manager, never was.Im not writing this because Im mad at this property because in fact Im over it and am attached to a lease that still has 7 months left. Im writing this because I can guarantee that this is not an isolated incident. This complex is HUGE.
One of the worst apartments I have ever been in. Have lived here for 2 months and cops have been called every weekend. Management has never returned my phone calls. People at the front office are very rude and inconsiderate. False advertising at its best right here. Looking to move out ASAP. Do not recommend.
I have lived in several apartment complexes. We have lived here for about 4 months now and I have absolutely no complaints. Maintenance is amazing, Karl, always prompt and ALL of our issues have been fixed. This was a huge issue at my other complexes. The complex is beautiful and our apartment is modern, updated, and maintained well. I would refer this place to anyone looking.
Definitely very disappointed at this place. My wife and I have been complaining about our noisy upstairs neighbors since September and it is now January and nothing has been done about it. We have had 2 previous neighbors before living above us and never had a problem. The office is quite useless when it comes to upholding their end of the lease responsibility such as upholding quiet hour regulations. We wanted to terminate our lease a month early but they cant even accommodate us in that respect. Avoid this place if you can.
Auburn Gate Apartment complex is one of the finest establishments I have resided at. The apartment units have been renovated and boast large floor plans, stainless steel and wood kitchen appliances and storage, along with controlled lighting in the dining and kitchen areas. The clubhouse offers a well kept pool in the summer months, along with a best-in-class apartment gym complex for those interested in pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle.Lastly, but certainly not least important, the staff here is great to work with. Quick to respond to work orders when submitted, friendly to speak with, and always welcoming I find it hard to find a flaw with any of the staff members here.I personally have had great interactions with Kassie, one of the kind members of staff, as she is more than willing to assist with anything I may need. Truly great service. One last benefit of living at this apartment complex is the high level of service that Karl Wilkes, on of the repairmen on site, brings to all matters at hand needing assistance. Karl has personally provided quick and efficient service any time I have ever needed him to remedy a home repair.I highly recommend Auburn Gate Apartments for those seeking a place to live.Best,Austin
This is a really nice community to live in! Everyone is very nice, and the grounds are very well kept. Maintenance is always done in a very timely manor and done well! The only complaint I had was that when we moved in under the cupboards on the ground were still dirty, and it looks like someone dropped a two liter of coke and it was just spattered under the cupboards. And the drains were still clogged. But again maintenance is quick! And the clean up of the cupboards was easy. All of the people working at the front desk are super nice and always helpful! I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone!
I dropped a check off for my rent early before it was due At least one week. The check was inadvertently the wrong check . The check did not have Auburn gate on the check. It was written to someone else. They scanned (cashed) the check without notifying me to let me know that it must be the wrong check.my attorney phoned me to let me know that I sent them A 1800 check in my apartments name. I phoned the complex to ask how do you cash a check with out auburn gate name on the check as well as no notification of the mistake. The young lady stated that she would speak to the office manager but still insisted that I owe 150 late fee. How do you see a mistake and not call your tenet to correct the mistake but instead cash a check without your company name on it. In most situations that would be a crime.and then charge me
My husband and I moved to Michigan due a company transfer. We decided to rent at Auburn Gate because it is nearby the office and because at a first glance, the apartments looked fine. The staff seemed very helpful and everything happen very fast. We got our leasing agreement in a couple of days.But... as soon as we arrived, we noticed several issues:1) Despite smoking on the apartments is prohibited, our apartment has a strong cigarette smoke odor. We dont smoke and we hate the smell. I have submitted several complaints about this but the situation is not solved. One time, we went to speak to the manager (after some ignored emails) and he was kind of rude. After that, they just sent a generic letter to all the houses. Them, the situation just sightly improved. Every day I use my towel, it has a very strong cigarette odor. Nasty.2) Our building has parking spots issues. It is supposed that each apartment can have up to 4 cars. There are no enough parking spots. Many times I had to park my car far away from the building.3) Strong pipe odors. Sometimes at night, we experience very strong pipe odors. I havent worried to notify this, because we know that we are going to solve nothing. On the other hand, every time we have submitted a maintenance complain or service request. They have attended it very quickly. In short words, I feel this place is quite expensive for what they offer.
Shady people working there. Worked with staff to get a special short term lease with the short lease clearly defined in emails and speaking with Chelsea. Talked in person about why I needed a short lease and why I would need to leave the apartments to move in only 3 months. Everything went well. Come one month from my move-out date and I let them know. They said they didnt know I was moving out and I had to tell them one month in to my three month lease that I was moving out then. Had done this short term lease several times in the past and this was never an issue. They knew I was leaving when I was, and tried pulling some fine print bs to make me pay them almost more in fees than it was to rent for 3 months. Not to mention getting anything fixed takes a month or more. Not sure what happened beacause the old staff used to be decent. Only bad people there now unfortunately :(
Great apartment structures. Very quiet neighborhood. Their services are top notch. The staff members are great, especially Chelsea Rager who helped me with my move in process. She was very kind, patient, and always polite. She’s always very helpful in ensuring my services are completed with no issues, and always doing a follow-up.I remember talking with her about what I would love to have in an apartment when moving in. She answered all of my questions with all honesty. She showed me around the neighborhood, provided me with all available options and tried to help meet my budget and needs for an apartment. She is so great at what she does and very straightforward. I truly appreciate all of your help Chelsea. Thank you for such a great experience.
Honestly I am just too new to give 5 stars but it has been a joy so far. My friends and family love my apartment look. My dogs like the dog park. And i love all the amenities. The gym is amazing, plenty of room to lift and nice residents that help each other out. I cannot wait to try the outlook and the pool.Only bad thing is my front door gives me a couple problems. Other than that, I love it!
The management team and people in charge of leasing are absolutely horrible. We toured an apartment we liked, had the information about it emailed to us, but when we went to apply for it not an hour later after driving home, it wasnt available. When we put in an application, we waited to hear about our approval, even calling, but never got a response. We then received a response by email telling us we were denied because even though their brochure says you need 3.5 times rent as your income, they changed it to 5 times and our deposit was refunded. We asked if they could hold the deposit while we added a co-applicant to the application and they denied that request When we tried to add a co-applicant as a cosigner and sent application again, they told that we were too late and the apartment which had put a deposit on that they returned to us was taken already now in less than 2 hours. I dont know who is in charge of the property, but if this is how they want to treat people while they are trying to move in, I can only imagine how horribly they treat the people who already live there.
Chelsea, who works at the front desk, is amazing! She is so helpful. She gives you straight answers, and it never felt like she was trying to blind side me. She gave me all the information up front and if I had more questions, then I could call and she would figure it out ASAP. 10/10 would recommend Auburn Gate to live here and having Chelsea help you out.I thought I wanted an apartment in a very specific location, but she showed me around and I became more open to options. To help me get a place faster, she called me whenever something popped up or something new happened. It was great! I was able to get into a new place, completely renovated, very quickly. She is very good at her job. Its not just because things got done quickly, but because she knew how to get things done, she kept me informed, and she always had a great attitude, which was a delight.I also love my apartment, very spacious, good price.
I have moved in a month ago and I like the place so far. Maintenance guys are good and they turn around very quickly. They have a lot of amenities and Everyone in the office are friendly and helpful. Chelsea was the one who helped me find the right apartment and made the moving hassle free. I usually hate the process and paperwork involved around moving but in this case they made it fairly easy.I would highly recommend it to other.
I lived here for 2 years. There were pros and cons.Pros: Grounds feel more like a neighborhood than an apartment complex and are kept well. My neighbors were friendly and there are lots of young professionals living there. The dog park was a huge plus. Probably the nicest pool Ive seen at an apartment. I loved having a garage.Cons: I think the elephant in the room are the craftsmanship of the buildings themselves. The vents in my living room didnt pump out any air and it was almost impossible towarm my apartment in the winter. Eventually one of the vents started to leak frigid air into my living room during the winter. One year of complaining later, it was discovered that the duct work was completely destroyed by an animal and all that heat was leaking into the attic. My electric bills at the time were nearing the $200s. Once that was fixed it went down to around $140- which is still shockingly high considering I kept the heat low, and only ran the AC on the hottest of days. My roof was leaking causing a brown stain in the living room ceiling. I notified maintenance right away, who painted over it.Eventually it grew to cover half the ceiling. I cant imagine how much mold is in that attic!I feel like maintenance was short staffed, they would leave a repair half done, say they were coming back then never come back to finish it.
We absolutely loved living at Auburn Gate Apartments. We were in the two-bedroom two-bath unit; there is SO much space! The main bedroom, walk-in closet, and master bath are huge. The guest bath and bed are also a great size. There’s so much storage space in the apartment, too. Ask about available garages! That is such a nice feature. Apartment maintenance responds quickly and the community amenities are so great... beautiful clubhouse with workout room and gathering room, pool and hot tub are well maintained, dog park is never too busy and we feel safe walking our dogs around the big community at all times of day, even after dark. It’s close to everything you need—Meijer, Target, and restaurants are five minutes or less, and it’s directly across from Great Lakes Crossings Mall. It’s the perfect place to live, whether you’re transitioning or living for years to come. We have never experiences issues with what other reviews say, and if anything happens and you’re kind and ethical, management will work with you to make things right.
We recently moved out of our apartment in Troy to Auburn Gate. We were working with Chelsea during our experience and she was so great in helping us find the perfect apartment for our needs. We had a horrible experience at our previous apartment and she made the transition into this beautiful apartment stress free. The apartment is the upgrade I was looking for and I can’t wait to make this apartment our home!
The apartment wasnt bad, it was spacious and all hardwood floors which we enjoyed. However it was very overpriced. Our AC unit was also non-functional for 2-3 months in the middle of the summer and it took 4-5 maintenance requests to get it taken care of. The trash would also pile up really badly, but they were putting in more trash receptacles around the time we left. The lights at the pool also couldnt turn on when it got dark which was frustrating. So as long as you dont mind the high price and a handful of inconveniences its not a bad place to live.
I gotta tell you I was super impressed with this place. I was told the person who created this apartment complex owns hotels in Canada. Very hotel like. I really liked them. Just very pricey. And not as big as Id hoped. There attention to detail is really good. They have a doggie park, a volley ball area, a basketball court, a pool, a jacuzzi, a gym, they offer yoga classes, a meeting office area, a lobby with complimentary coffee and desserts ..I mean honestly you really never have to leave this place. And its right by a Target store and an Outlet Mall. I thought it was walking distance. Its just a super busy area lots of cars right by the highway though. In the immediate living areas they have gigantic speed bumps to keep people from driving like mad men which is a good thing to keep everyone safe. The staff return calls right away and are informative and polite I was shown three available units including an already furnished one to show me how it would look. They have a fully stocked refrigerator and gave me a complimentary bottle of water. Honestly Ive never been to an apartment complex quite like this one. I cant imagine how any others can compete.
Forget about any available parking, forget about walking in the grass and not stepping in dog feces. The property management is a joke with predatory accounting that actually tried to profit during the global pandemic of Covid-19 (I was current on all my lease payments, my lease happened to expire during the Michigan shutdown and unethical is how I would label Auburn Gates business practices as they attempted to strong arm me into another lease agreement). It got so bad I had to file a complaint with the Michigan Attorney Generals office. I cannot stress how much I would not consider to live here again. Look around, there are nicer places in better neighborhoods for the same amount of money. I got stuck here after selling my house, I wish I had taken more time to look around but I needed something quick.
I have been here for over a year and am pretty happy with the apartment. The maintenance is great! Especially Arnold, he always does a great job on any work order. There are some things that should be changed however, the parking issue has not resolved since I moved here, there is no park for kids to play; I think every luxury apartment should have that amenity. The trash is also an issue, you have to drive it out to the main entrance. The rent also keeps going up, charging for water and sewage is not something all apartments in the area charge for. Overall though its at a great location and well maintained.
Im quite happy with Auburn Gate. Ive lived here for many years, since before it even was Auburn Gate, and the new management seems to be doing a pretty good job. While there are a few areas for improvement, by and large the community is a very good one. The walks are always shoveled and they keep up with the landscaping. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the apartments themselves are quite nice. The newly renovated ones are exceptionally cool, even if theyre unfortunately out of my budget. Its also pet friendly and they even allow large breeds, which is excellent for dog-lovers!Its in a great area, and while the rent isnt cheap its also fair. In my opinion, its a pretty nice place to live!
Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to be a resident here due to lack of communication amongst the staff. I applied for a 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom upgraded unit here back on 6/11/20 for a move in date of 7/7/20. As of yesterday I began to confirm all of my information gets transferred over such as mail, utilities, cable, insurance, and even had movers coming to deliver new furniture. However I was told at the last minute that the unit I was getting was a handicap unit only. The person who helped me through the entire process was Maisee. She accepted my application, my holding fee, and just a week before getting ready to move I was told that the unit I contractually signed for was a handicap unit. When I ask could they assist me with a similar unit but within my budget they told me no, and a similar unit would cost me $200 dollars more. Unfortunately my money was given back to me due to breach of contract, however Im left with burden of finding a home within the next week, and to get all my utilities, furniture, delayed due to a lack of communication from this establishment. If this was said to me in the beginning it wouldve alleviated this problem, but now Im SOL because they failed to tell me in the beginning process. I was looking for to new move and experience but they ruined it for me, and I hope my story helps someone who may be considering moving here.
Initially, I was disappointed with my townhouse when I moved in about multiple things not being right with my apartment. Leaking sink, dryer vent was not properly cleaned, flooring issues, and window screens that were taped together and maintenance having to come out multiple times for one issue. But I will say once they were fixed, I love our townhouse. We love the space we have and the openness of the unit. Karl one of the maintenance men is amazing and has fixed everything that the other guys did not do correctly the first time. It is a dog friendly community so that is a plus, and you see a lot of pets as well. I would say that overall after the initial first few weeks, I have really enjoyed living here.
Beztak maintenance guys are great! Anytime i put in a work order to have something fixed, they are on top of it. Thank you to Karl!! He was extremely friendly and fixed my plumbing issue in no time. I have really enjoyed living at Auburn Gate! The renovated apartments are awesome.
Beautiful place to live, maintenance is decently on top of their stuff, but the office people are incredibly useless. They will take absolutely no responsibility for any issues and will pretty much say youre on your own with them. I would love to say theyre polite but thats questionable too. Also goodluck trying to find parking especially if you have more than 1 vehicle.
I have lived here since last April and for the most part the place is nice. Pretty to look at but nothing else really matches up. We have noisy neighbors with pets not on leads, the maintenance isn’t the best. The garbage situation is also god awful as well. One dumpster right in the front for the whole complex. It is constantly overflowing. The parking situation is also terrible. If you comeHome any later than 5, good luck getting a spot close to your door. They also raised our rent almost $200 when renewing. Our toilet has been “fixed” twice now and it broke a week later. Poor communication for the most part from the leasing office. I emailed them yesterday about one of the checks I submitted as it was not cleared on my account. I got told this morning it was good and I had no balance. Then I come home from my errands to a letter saying that we didn’t pay last months rent and we need to pay it immediately and they added on a late fee of $150 even though I turned the check in on the 7th with the agreement from them that I wouldn’t not be changed for that one day. I called and asked them what happened and they said they were just told today...two weeks later....that my check bounced so I have to pay the late fee and they won’t remove it. Mind you I wouldn’t submit a check that I didn’t have the money for so that sounded strange to me. I called my bank to see if indeed they bounced it because of the ridiculous late fee added on. I was then told that there was never a transaction or attempt at getting that money from my account per that check. And now that the office is closed, I had to email them and let them know all of this. Not that I think they will do anything because they just want money from everyone and not really care about the residents.
I can’t tell you how bad my experiences have been with this place. When I first moved in, I was told I would have a garage by the office AT LEAST 10 times. And then they finally told me I wouldn’t have one. The apartments are beautiful until you move in and see how poorly they have Been made. Doors falling off, paint chipping, water leaking, I have to pay $130 a month to heat this very small one bedroom apartment because none of the windows and doors are sealed very well. After a few months of staying here I was then told I could transfer and that the 2 bedroom apartments were so much cheaper than what I’m paying for a very tiny 1 bedroom. So I was trying to transfer but then no one gave me a call back about the apartment that I said I 100% wanted. So I was fed up with dealing with it and just let it be and stayed in the one I had. Then about 4 months before my lease ends, I was told that I could move out if I wasn’t renewing and I wouldn’t be penalized at all for it. So me and my fiancé bought a house. And then after we bought the house and I was packing to move...they then told me I had to STAY here for the next 4 months while my fiancé lives there and we have to both pay both the house bills now and the apartment bills. So this place has been a NIGHTMARE. Only thing that’s good about this place is it’s pretty and the mall is right across. But if you’re looking to move into a stress free apartment without being constantly lied to, here isn’t the place to move if you don’t want a nightmare.
Have lived here for a few months now and it’s been absolutely wonderful. Beautiful and safe apartment housing area, the staff is great, maintenance is always timely and attentive-we’ve had Karl Wilkes come in a few times and he always goes above and beyond, I felt I should write his name in my review, he alone has made our stay very easy and comfortable since fast and efficient maintenance is a top priority I usually look for when looking for an apartment.
Beyond disappointed. I’ve lived here multiple times and this will definitely be my last. From the terrible communication during the leasing process to the raccoon infestation (in the walls and roof) in my building for over a month, and most recently a massive hornets nest on our building that has resulted in myself and my guests getting stung. I’ve tried to stay compassionate and understanding during the whole time however it seems management doesn’t care or feel any sense of urgency even when it’s greatly effecting our quality of living. Would no longer recommend this complex as it is not what it once was.
We have been here since February, and at that time there was no heat. The unit was running but nothing coming out of the vents. We have one of the new renovated units, very nice unit. In May, no A/C, tech comes first time says fire damper closed--no air flow. Maybe why no heat, ya think??Seven calls later in the second week of August, the A/C is working because they basically replaced the unit.Thats good, working now. Thanks.Lastly, when signing up, management asked if not having a garage was a deal breaker, and I said yes. Its August, no garage. Management says maintenance is responsible for assigning garages and they are busy with you guessed it--A/C units. Were leaving in February or sooner. Im not paying this much rent for such a hassle and no reliable climate control--no garage.Investigate before you rent.
I have been a resident here for 7 years. ALL problems that have arisen, have been taken care of. The maintenance staff is doing an excellent job. And, the office people are always friendly and helpful. Beztak staff works for us and not against us. I highly recommend that if you are looking for a place to live, take a look at Auburn Gate.
Not a good move out experience at all. Im pregnant and my significant other and I decided to buy a house. I inquired about ending my lease early because of my due date and ending of my lease being so close in time. There was no option of ending my lease early, so I kept it. My lease ends tomorrow (April 1). I moved all of my things out mid March and went in today (March 31st) to do a final walk through to check on anything I left, and they had went in and remodeled sometime within the last two weeks without my permission. The heat was on high and all of the lights were on in the apartment. On top of paying rent, I am paying utilities until tomorrow. When I asked the office why they went into my apartment while Im on the lease and remodeled I was told because they sold to a new company, the company did a walk through of all the apartments. I was not aware of any walk throughs that were taking place. They saw that my apartment was empty and put it on the remodel list, obviously not checking to see if someone was on the lease. I did not abandon the apartment, being that I was there two weeks ago cleaning and moving things out, was paid up through April 1 and also paying for the heat and electricity to be on according to their standards. Luckily the few items I had in my garage were still there. I would not rent from this facility. They have had three different owners in the last three years and it seems incredibly unorganized. The office staff is very nice. I feel bad that they have to put up with so much from management and/or ownership.
Parking is really terrible in front of my building. I rent a garage that gets virtually blocked in by cars so you can barely leave your apartment after 5 PM. I’ve expressed concerns with office staff and have had no one contact to resolve this issue. Also good luck if you live on the top floor with cooling your unit during the summer. I have had my air conditioner set to 75 while I was gone today and it’s been running the whole time costing me in electric, while not cooling apartment since it’s nearly 80 degrees in here currently. Paying $300 on electric without even cooling my apartment enough is a joke. Will be moving as soon as the lease is up.
This place is really not that bad but I wouldnt recommend it. There are too many issues that dont seem like they could be resolved in a reasonable amount of time.* Sound isolation is bad. Really bad. Live here if you want to hear your neighbor arguing with alexa or google assistant . Top floor units are hardwood in a lot of buildings. This means I can hear my neighbors clog dancing at alll hours of the night when they are probably just walking around their apartment. Its a little too loud. Every. Damn. Step. Adjacent neighbors stereos and subwoofers create a booming soundtrack to your life. Youll never feel alone here - even at 1am.* The layout of the complex is poorly designed. It takes about 5 minutes of driving and about 9 speed bumps to get to Baldwin road from the back of the complex. At least I dont have to put my garbage on my car and drive it up to the front anymore. When I moved in near the end of 2016 the dumpsters were almost ready. They are here now so trash is less of an issue.* The rent is costly for the living experience. Dont get me wrong, its bad everywhere, but imagine paying about 1200 bucks to live in a noisy apartment complex with Pontiac schools. If you have dogs but not school age children, then ignore this bullet and give the complex an extra star. Its got a dog park but no childrens park.* The complex loses power multiple times a year. I dont know why, but you should at least know this moving in.* Deliveries should arrive at one of three places: the front office ,your mailbox, or your front door. They are often delivered to an adjacent building, the entrance of the correct building, or apparently stolen. If you live here and use Amazon, request delivery to the front office for all packages.* When we moved in they were talking about adding a nature trail. No idea what happened to that. Also, the community deck thing( giant freestanding deck, see older pictures on Google) was taken down. A nearby sign read coming summer 2018 and showed a beautiful open community patio area. Current status: construction equipment parking area. I think they are doing what they can, but boy are they behind schedule.* Not the complexes fault but neighbors are often parking on the corner/curb between buildings. This should probably be discouraged. Its difficult to get to a (rare) open parking spot when cars are on both sides of a corner. What happened to the parking pass system?Whats good?* The maintenance staff is very responsive and friendly. Its not their fault a lot of the equipment in the apartments are extremely outdated. Ive had my heating/cooling issues here like everyone else.* The front office team tries their best. Alex and Chris are helpful and are pretty good at defusing most of the frustration that residents will bring up to the front office (from what Ive seen anyway).* The layout of the apartments feel pretty spacious. Good job on that.* The fitness area is great compared to other apartments.* It is easy to get here as long as you dont come from South on Baldwin road. It really is right off the interstate.
I moved in a few weeks ago after relocating from Miami. I had to pick an apartment from a distance without being able to see it in person. I am unfamiliar with the area and was first impressed by the upgraded unit. But what really drew me in and sealed the deal was Kassie the leasing agent. She was beyond helpful in my decision making, and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Upon arriving I was not disappointed. My unit was beautiful and clean and exactly as described. I had a a garage ready for me as promised. The community center is incredible with a beautiful and very equipt gym. The move in process was seamless and simple. I am also grateful to the maintenance team who fixed my heater within an hour on Christmas Eve. So far I am happy I chose auburn gate!
Revising my positive review because of the terrible customer service and poor guest relations that ruined the experience here for me.There was a leak in my roof from the floor above me. They did not offer anything other than an apology. Then when it came time to repair it, they told me they would be by to fix it so I took the afternoon off work to be there. They apparently never showed. Two weeks later, unbeknownst to me, they gave the keys to my apartment to a third party contractor and come in my place to fix it. They did a sloppy job and left a mess everywhere which was the only way I knew someone had entered my home. They again offered nothing but a hollow apology. Not only are they not willing to go the extra mile to provide a positive customer experience, they are rude and have no common courtesy. I can no longer recommend this establishment to prospective renters.
We enjoy the appearance of the apartment, but it comes with issues that get worse over time. The rent is very high, the maintenance is okay at best and the office staff is sub-par.It took them weeks to run our rent check only to tell us that it bounced and that we will be fined. Our toilet broke down multiple times due to poor maintenance quality (still broken). They still had a previous residents name on the lease a year later among other issues with our lease. We do not get notified of most changes that occur to our lease (most of which happen seemingly at random). The people running our home are not qualified to do so.
I’ve lived here a while ago for a long time, and then recently moved back, I would give this place a 5 star but we had a couple hiccups when we moved in and we are constantly making maintenance request. The maintenance staff is very nice though. I wish these apartments had better appliances since they are considered luxury. They are very very cheap!
An Excellent Apartment community from the outside. Things left to be desired from the management side. You will experience a beautiful apartment however upon closer inspection little details are often missed. Also, a severe disconnect from Managment with the Community. A shear lack of parking. Mass emails that often make no sense with lack of evidence from what is going in the Community. I have felt mislead from the beginning, from a lack of information to how much pricing really is. Such as Convience Fees on anything you pay for. Even as a first time renter, there is just a lack of care and attention. As of now would not recommend this Community to my Friends and Family.
Avoid this place at all costs! I have lived here since September 2017 and can not wait until my lease is up:1. I was promised a garage when I signed my lease, it took me until February of 2018 to get an apartment after I made dozens of complaints and requests.2. The trash is constantly overflowing and disgusting (see pictures)3. Its not safe! there is an opening in the fencing near our apartment which leads to strange people coming by our apartment and stealing our stuff and nothing has been done to fix the fence even after I have made several complaints.4. My neighbor has aggressive dog breeds that are not supposed to be allowed and snap at my wife and our dogs, even after complaints nothing has been done to address the issue.5. Parking is horrible, people park wherever they want, often times blocking exits or entrances, there arent enough parking spaces, then in the winter they pile snow on those few spaces rather than putting it on the grass where no one drives.6. The Air Conditioning doesnt work! I have made close to a dozen complaints through online, phone, and in person mediums and only twice has maintenance showed up. The first time all they did was change the air filter, the 2nd they cleaned it then told us to close vents. Right now its 80 degrees in my apartment and I have an infant!!!Please make a better choice than I did and go somewhere else!Edit: Maintenance came and looked at the A/C today, took it completely apart according to them, yet its 11pm and still 80 degrees in my apartment. My wife had to use an ice pack to cool down my baby son so he would fall asleep!!!Edit 2: Yesterday the apartment complex maintenance team turned my A/C off completely and left us with nothing at all and no plan for a fix. I had to send my family to a hotel because it was so hot in the apartment.
Don’t believe the fake good reviews. The front office does raffles when residents post reviews of the apartments, so I would say most of the good reviews are fake and just for the raffle. Here’s my experience at Auburn Gate. Warning: long post, but worth the read for a real look into these apartments. My husband and I moved here for a summer job, and thank goodness we are almost done because living here has been a huge hassle and a headache. We moved here with 5 other couples and it seems we all had very similar negative experiences. Here’s all of the things that went wrong in just FOUR months.-Our apartment was dirty and had many repairs needed upon move-in. Luckily maintenance came pretty quick and took care of the easy fixes. However, many things continued to break over and over again to the point where I gave up calling maintenance because the same closet doors, loose faucets, etc. would break again within a day or two. The finishings on these apartments are really poor quality. The floors are also uneven. I noticed this when walking around the first day but it became even more apparent when the toddler I babysat would roll a car or a ball away from him and it would roll back towards him because the floor was slanted. Also, our water heater broke and it took days for them to come fix it. My husband and I are no strangers to cold showers as he lived in Mexico for two years and I lived in Brazil for a year and a half, but we were very frustrated that for how much we pay in rent it took so long to fix a big problem like that. Also, three of the other couples we came here with had their air conditioners break. Of those three, only 2 had maintenance come to try and fix it and only 1 actually got it fixed.-Nasty neighbors. We had the rudest neighbors below us. As I mentioned before I watched a toddler every morning. I am also pregnant, and as a result I need to use the bathroom all hours of the day and even early in the morning. They complained all the time for too much noise. We explained our situation and they even saw the toddler but that didn’t stop their complaints. When my husband explained this to the office after they called us, they were indifferent to our situation. Our experience made it seem like this is not a family friendly place. Along with this is if there were better sound insulation these issues would not be had. We can her everything our neighbors do but that’s not their fault, it’s the fault of the builders for skimping on sound proofing.-The trash situation is a disaster. There is only one dumpster for every single building in this complex and it is by the office at the front of the entrance. Where our apartment is, that’s a 5 minute drive and it is so easy to forget the trash when it takes that long to get to the dumpster. The dumpster was also always overflowing and disgusting. They charged us extra every month to maintain that dumpster but we never understood where that money went because the dumpster was awful.-The pool is nasty. I don’t need to elaborate more than saying the two times I decided to go swimming I came out with a wigs worth of other people’s hair on me.Overall, we were very frustrated that our rent was going to a “luxury apartment” but what we got was far from luxurious. We both have a few years of apartment living but these were by far the worst we have lived in. There’s more but I feel I have said enough.
Ive lived here for about 7 months. The apartment is decent but Ive had multiple issues with parking, maintenance, etc. At one point someone broke glass in our hallway and didnt clean it up so I swept up what I could and had to request 5 times for someone to clean up the remaining glass, a month and a half later someone came to check up on it. The parking here is terrible. There are at least 2 broken down vehicles in our lot, one that hasnt moved since we moved in and one with 3 flat tires. I reported this multiple times and nothing has been done about it. I have put multiple service request for things to be fixed and it seems like the request is just marked as completed when no one has done anything. I recently put one in for broken glass by our mailboxes and it was marked as done but yet there is still glass all over the ground. They also made us swab our dogs for a new program, Poo Prints, that would reduce the amount of dog feces around the grounds, a wonderful idea. That was months ago and yet nothing has been done. They also have implemented new parking passes and new parking rules back in January but nothing has been done. Over half of the cars here dont have the new passes or a pass at all and people park wherever the heck they want. There have been more than a few times where I can barely get my car out of the spot because someone is parked on a curb right behind me. These apartments could really be nice but its like everything is done partially and nothing is enforced like it should be. Dont live her if you want to constantly be frustrated and never be able to find somewhere to park. I cant wait to move out and live somewhere that actually takes care of things like they say they will.
I just recently moved in coming from Mexico. And it has been even better than I expected. One friend recommend to me this place to move but seriously I have been more than happy to choose this place as my first home in U.S. I would like to mention that the personal in the place has been very helpful in special I would like to mention to Chelsea Ragers who always was willing to help me into the moving process. She is so kind and always keep and smile for me. She is so profesional and provide me with a great service. More than happy to select Auburn gate as my new home. Great apartment + Great Service equal to customer 100% satisfied.
Parking is a huge issue, feel as though we were lied too when we were showed and moved into the complex. We were told every apparment came with a garage, we did not get a garage and when asked was told our apparment did not come with one. Otherwise would have rated a 5, just do not like the face we were lied too, as part of the reason we chose this complex was for the garage, had we known we would not have one we would have chosen a different Appartments and or complex.
UPDATE 7/20/2019: THE HOT TUB IS STILL NOT FIXED. The water is luke-warm, not hot, and the jets dont work. Sure, it is no longer green or empty, but it is certainly not fixed. Ill still be going to my buddies house when I want a hot tub because, even though it is a cheap hot tub, it has powerful working jets and it is actually hot. Also, I have worked in construction; there is no good reason--weather or otherwise--why some of these things would take so long (some over a year) except lack of management will to get it done. With that being said, the apartments, themselves, the location, and the staff are still top notch. Just dont be lured in by the community amenities.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Apartments and staff are really nice and helpful and fix apartment issues promptly and never hassle you. They are surprisingly great, actually. But, the community amenities are NOT as advertised. Management never maintains community amenities properly or in a timely manner. They have a new firepit area that should have taken a month to build that has been under construction for a year with little progress, the hot tub hasnt ever worked properly in the time I have been here and they have no plans to fix it. It is either green with slime, empty, or tepid warm with jets that dont work and water that doesnt properly circulate (the current situation). Its really annoying that management wont fix something like this that everyone wants to use right in the front of the complex. Also, the volleyball court is always wet because they dont fix the simple busted sprinkler pipe beneath it. Yet, they increase rent by $70 per year. The gym is nice, though, and the sauna finally works after a year of being broken.Fix the hot tub, and bbq area, and volleyball court, and finish the firepit. It is in all your fancy brochures and people want it.If you are thinking about moving here, dip your toe in the hot tub and ask them to turn the jets on, first. Haha
I’ve lived here about 6 months and couldn’t be happier. I get a latte and a pastry from the clubhouse on my way to work every morning. I was able to cancel my gym membership because the gym here has everything I need. I love taking walks around the community and taking my dogs to the dog park so they can run off their energy! Besides the awesome extras, I love my modern looking apartment with granite counters and wood floors. I can’t wait to live here for years to come!
I have lived at Auburn Gate for 2 years and it has been great! Management is very friendly and helpful. Maintenance is always quick to respond. The amenities are really nice. There is a sand volleyball court, tennis court, pool, clubhouse, fitness center, vegetable/herb garden, and a small lake with a deck. All are well maintained.
The property is beautiful, the apartment are breathtaking, very luxury. Its affordable and close to everything. The only thing I wish they had was a play area for children, but they have dog park which I find a little strange. Other than that I would recommend living at this property.
I began my apartment search 2-3 months prior to my lease expiring, and of all the properties I toured Chelsea at Auburn Gates was the only one who gave me a price, as well as, allowed me to lock in the price. Knowing what type of budget I was going to have after deciding not to renew the lease with my previous landlord was a relief in itself. Also, her helpfulness and patience gave me the piece of mind I needed moving forward in my move. Thanks Chelsea :)
Moving can be a tumultuous experience and one that can induce anxiety and panic especially if you are moving from another state. We had the pleasure of working with Cara Welch, leasing manager, and she helped with making sure that our move in date lined up perfectly for our big move. It provides reassurance that you have chosen a complex that is willing to help its future residents. We feel at ease knowing that we are in good hands. We look forward to calling this complex home for our next chapter.
I moved out of here recently and i couldnt be happier about my move. During my one year lease here we have multiple bug problems that were never actually taken care of. One time we had a wasp nest in our vents and it took a whole entire week to get an exterminator out, when the exterminator did finally come out he said he couldnt find anything but yet there were still wasps all over my living room falling out if the vents. When i had called to complain about it for the second time the lady in the office said it cant be that bad. I was killing at least 10 wasps a day for a good 2-3 weeks. Then when they put in the landscaping we ended up with maggots in the carpet from the mulch so we had flies everywhere, that was never taken care of. Also we had the dryer break so it was no longer getting hot. Maintenance came out and said it could be until the end of the month to get a dryer because they have to wait until someone moves out to get a new dryer. I paid way to much money a month to deal with such a bad management staff. I loved the location and the apartment how spacious it was, but the management itself ruined the whole experience. They act like they care about their tendents but really only care about the money. Its sad.
I have been a resident here in the Auburn Gate Apartments for a year now. Leasing Consultant Kassie Jennerjohn has been amazing. She always takes the time to go the extra step to ensure that my needs are addressed and that I am enjoying the full benefits and amenities that our complex has to offer. Kassie is always the consummate professional and extremely knowledgeable. She always has a warm greeting and is very enthusiastic to help and assist.Thank you Kassie, you are a shinning star and we are lucky to have you as a representative of Auburn Gate Apartments.Michael L. Johnson
Ive lived here for 6 months and have been searching for a new place since the first week I moved in. Move-in experience was a nightmare. My apartment was not at all like what was shown to me in the model, and was very clear they rushed to have it ready. Carpet was old and dirty, they painted over woodwork and doors with human hair still on them, food stains and crumbs left in cabinets and in kitchen counter, old appliances, and washer/dryer were both broke. If you need something fixed- be prepared to wait a while. If maintenance does arrive, they do a poor job and problem isnt taken care of. The parking situation is another huge issue. I pay $25 extra a month for a garage but it doesnt matter because people park in non parking spots behind it- making it a struggle to get in and out. Ive brought this up to office staff but nothing was ever take care of. They lure you in with location and updated club house, but living here will only cause you frustration.
I love the community here. Great staffs. I highly recommend Mailee 👍 she is very helpful and truly care about the residents here. She had help me effortlessly and provided great service. Couldnt thank her enough. She had made moving in a great experience and made me feel welcomed even during the whole pandemic. Thank you auburn gate community.
I absolutely would recommend this place if youre looking for updated apartments. The granite counter tops, new appliances and wood flooring are so much nicer in comparison to other apartments in the area. They also have an awesome dog park that my dogs love to run around in (yeah I said Dogs i have two and I dont know of any other properties that allow more than one). I have lived here since previous management and its been a complete 180 in the right direction. The staff is awesome too.
They started to randomly Tow resident vehicles today, stating that because the new company took over the parking registration was no longer valid. They made no attempt to notify anyone that their vehicle was going to be towed. The are indeed some very nice people working in the front office and I do feel bad about this, but it seems that they do not care for the residents in anyway. Our vehicle was safely parked, with the proper registration provided by the apartment complex. They towed the vehicle with 0 notice, no phone calls, no community letters, emails, or community postings, claiming it is not their problem, except it is. The parking situation here is absolutely horrible, so I took it upon myself to place the vehicle out of the way in a parking space deemed by previous management as a safe place to park, the vehicle has air in its tires and we both work from home, so even if the battery was not dead or if we took the time to place the tags on the car, it would have remained there, this fact is unknown to current management, but this means they would have towed my car regardless. I have lived here for 3-4 years, and never had any other reason to believe anything different then what was communicated to me by the apartment complex. They failed to communicate that the parking passes are apparently no longer valid, well depending who in the office you ask. How is a resident supposed to know that no one will make any contact if the property believes the car is parked illegally, while I believe and was told previously the car is parked legally. This is probably one of the worst things this place could have done as besides the fraudulent pictures on the website, and large empty dumpster wholes, I didnt have much more to complain about or even cared all that much. Now I do.Stay away they are not worth the money. They claim to want to improve the place but spent half a million on a new clubhouse. The clubhouse is the last thing a resident cares about. Meanwhile, there is a slew of unfinished dumpster spaces everywhere around the place, and the ground has finished thawing and then some, so instead of spending money on those, they spend the time and resources on towing the residents who pay them, and provide them with the salaries they receive. Not only that but management has changed three times now, these places are heavily overpriced and very fake, in fact so fake. YOU will not get anything close to what you think. You rent will go up each year claiming about water charges. Right now I am paying more for a 1 bedroom apartment with 950 sqft then I was for my 2 bedroom, 2 years ago, with 1200 sqft and 2 full size bathrooms, only two streets away. Go anywhere else...go live in Pontiac, at least you have a chance of the crooks letting you know that they are going to steal your car before they do it by breaking the window, I work from home, so where am I driving to?Stay far away, I dont think this management company will last very long, maybe the next one will be better, but dont get your hopes up. Auburn Gate is what it is called currently. Beztak is who currently own them this year, 3rd one in 2 years. Says a lot.I should note that I have nothing against the people that work in the office at this time, they have been fair after much argument and are working with me regarding this issue. HOWEVER, I am going to do as much as I can so this never happens again. A simple quick note on the door would have avoided this review.
I lived here for 7 years, and was pretty happy with the size, location, rent of these apartments while I was there. I moved out Nov 2017 - and was out of the country for few months, but this management hasnt yet still returned the money they took from me as a security deposit - of $750!!. I have been back in US for few months now and they dont have to mail a check overseas, but in-spite of following up million times there is no return of money! Cant believe in 21st century how can money transfer be so difficult even if it were overseas...Cant believe I am still asking for a security deposit back even after 8 months have past...-------- I would like to change my review, since even after a full year I got all my security deposit back - which is good! other than that I completely enjoyed living at this apartment - awesome location right next to factory outlet mall - great lakes, near by to Rochester or troy - I would say go ahead and take a place here.
My fiancé and I relocated here for a transfer position from out of state a month ago and have had a handful of problems already. Our mailbox keys haven’t worked since we moved in & have had to have 2 work orders put in and the problem is STILL not rectified. This has been going on since September 12th. Both times I have had to repeatedly call the front office to find out answers, neither time the staff called us to let us know our keys were ready. The first time I picked up mailbox keys and found out immediately that they still did not work. They decided to leave our mailbox unlocked until they were able to get our lock changed and new keys. Went in today to see if the keys were ready for the second time - of course nobody has any idea were the keys are even though the work order was marked as completed. To say we are unhappy is an understatement. We now have to ride out this year long lease in an apartment complex that obviously isn’t properly staffed to handle the amount of residents/problems that occur. Hopefully this post and the others that have been posted are enough to influence anyone considering this place as an option - I wouldn’t recommend it with the experience we have had after only a month of living here but we are still hopeful for a better experience.
I’ve been living here for a few years and never had any major issues until the ceiling in my dining room apartment started leaking due to a roofing issue. The first time was in 2015, I notified the manager and they had maintenance come out to “fix “ the problem. Well basically the maintenance person put a bandaid over the problem by just patching it up. The second time it happened again I notified maintenance and was told that a roofing company would have to come out and many other tenants were having the same issue... fine ok. Welp no one showed up. Fast forward to 2017, of course water starts leaking in my dining room. Jake, the maintenance manager, comes out and says that a company would have to come out and fix it but I’ll have to wait until the weather gets better because It can’t get fixed in wet weather. Of course no one comes out! At this point I got so annoyed and contacted corporate and told them my issue through email, I even emailed pictures. The Apartment manger, Kerry, apologized and told me she would get right on the case and get a company out. Did they ever come out? Ha! So not only do I have water that leaks in my dining room and a brown stain in my ceiling because of it but NOW I have a broken dryer. I put in a work order on Thursday July 19th for the dryer issue and here it is Monday, July 23rd and I’m sitting here with my pile of clothes that can’t be cleaned. I contacted the office today at 9:15 and the front desk said “oh Jake closed the case. He came out Friday.” No. He. Did. Not! Because I make sure I had 3 people here to make sure someone would come by. So now “I have to wait for Jake to finish the emergency work orders before he gets to mine” even though he should’ve did the job on Friday like he signed off on. I then asked the front desk why he didn’t leave a work order paper like they usually do stating the workorder was completed and she told me “well they don’t do that anymore”. These apartments and the office people are full of it. They’re too busy landscaping this dump and not worrying about the people who pay rent for these overpriced ass apartments. Now hopefully after someone reads this REVIEW they’ll come and do what needs to be done. Now on to the good thing about these places is the landscaping. They make sure to keep the grounds looking real nice. (Rolls eyes).
New visitor parking rule sucks!! Guests dont like it. Its just going to lower the ratings of this place. Yes, Its hard to find a parking place sometimes because not many people have garages yet even after applying or some dont want to pay extra rent for that but trust me this visitor parking rule isnt helping much but just adding to our troubles. I still dont find the parking spot sometimes in spite of this rule. Why? Anyways, according to this visitor parking rule (so annoying),visitors have to park in visitor parking places only and then we need to pick them up and drop them or they have to walk all the way to our apartment when they visit us....This is not smart at all. Dont people have friends or what? None of the other apartment communities have this rule. There are other issues too like trash area issue, high rent which doesnt include the garage etc. Moreover, I was allotted the garage when I signed the lease and they assured me that I will get it in 1 month and then the excuses started like remotes are not in yet but we will get it before winter...now winter is going to be over soon but still nothing from them. Now, I dont even care if they give me a garage or not due to that extra rent. And I actually saw some garages filled with household stuff or broken car etc. It looks like they are just making some excuses. Very disappointed in this community and thinking to move out at the end of the lease.
I have lived here for 2 years on a bottom floor 2 bed 2 bath apartment. OK first the positive things: the location is great, you are right by the mall and a bunch of stores like meijer, target, costco ect. Also the nature around the apartments is great as well (if thats something you like). Inside the apartments is nice as well. They do allow pets and thats nice but there is a fee just so you know. The maintenance is fast when you make a request. The negative: you can only get comcast here and they suck, also comcast told me in this area I can not just have an Internet plan that I had to have cable. If you live on a lower level you can expect to hear everything upstairs! I mean everything from the people talking to them just walking in there house, I hear when the flush their toilet or when the shower. If you get loud people or people who have pets or kids its going to sound like you have a stampede above you. Also they offer rent pay online but they charge you a fee now if you set up auto pay, which is so aggravating because they told us it was a business move and that they charge us because they get charged, but if you go to buy your groceries or go to a doctor do they charge you the fee, no. And we already pay alot to live here. Also they dont really have enough parking spaces because most houses have 2 cars. The parking is not lighted so when you get home at night the only light you have is the porch lights and its not enough. The windows and doors are not well insulated.Update: they raised raised the rent alot and didnt even give me a month notice so now Im forced to sign a 12 month lease ( they wont offer 6 months) with a rent of nearly 1000 per month. Cant wait to move out
This apartment complex is in the Pontiac school district. So if you have kids they will go to pontiac schools. This apartment complex is way overpriced. You can get a similar apartment for less money in a better school district. The management has changed several times in just a few years. Every time the management changes the rent goes up several hundred dollars. My apartment is the same, but somehow someone thinks its ok to charge $400 more per month. Also they are very bad with trash removal. Theres no assigned parking, so sometimes I have to park in front of a building that isnt mine.
Resident here for almost a year. Great location. It is right by I75 and across Great Lakes Crossing mall. You have Meijer, Costco, Target, BestBuy etc with in 5 miles. The apartments are good however window insulation is bad. This effects cooling during winter and welcomes flies and bugs in summer (not many... but still). The whole complex has one huge dumpster at the entry of the complex. So you have to drive all the way (just under a mile if you live inside) to dispose your trash. An apartment in the start of the complex should be good.
My boyfriend and I recently moved here from the metro DC area and love our new apartment! Since we didn’t live in the area Chelsea was kind enough to give us a video tour of the community and the same style apartment we were interested in renting. Once we finally got to Michigan Chelsea had everything ready to go for us!
One of the main reasons I chose Auburn Gate was the availability of enclosed carports. When I signed my lease the woman said there was 1 garage available and that Id be 1st on the list to get it.... well that was a year and a half ago! I stop into the front office every couple months to inquire about the garage and I get the same generic response. One time I even talked to the woman who was taking care of assigning garages and she said Id be taken care of next, this was about 5 months ago.Normally parking wouldnt be such a big deal, but not at Auburn Gate where construction equipment, dirt and snow piles routinely occupy spaces. So few open spots and the fact that most garages are used for storage (or your neighbors landscaping business trailer) create an infuriating scenario at the end of the day when youre tired from work and just want to be home.My Recommendation: if you want to live at Auburn Gate Apartments then buy a truck or SUV, at least you can park on the grass.
The location is great, & the price is hard to beat for the amount of space in this area. Close to malls while still being surrounded by nature. I often see deer running across my back yard. Luckily neighbors upstairs arent too loud - I live on the very bottom floor & have no complaitns about noise. The price & layout keep this at a 3/5.Unfortunately, the dog poo situation gets a little out of hand sometimes. I cant walk out of my apartment into the yard area without stepping into a minefield of dog poo. If I want to play catch, I have to spend the first 10 minutes cleaning up other peoples pets poop!Additionally, the mail situation is a hassle. They dont allow most packages to be delivered to the door, & if you cant pick them up from the office in 2 days, they charge you money to deliver it to your door. So if you work a job that doesnt allow you to get to the office between 8-6, expect to get charged regularly. We were told they are planning to re-do the mail locations, so hopefully a parcel box is added so we dont have to deal with this problem. The trash is ridiculous too. Theres only one trash dump for the entire complex, which means most people have to drive their trash to the front of the complex. It gets nasty & spills over frequently, with many people not even bothering to throw their trash in the dump! Hopefully they add more. We were told that this is because of Auburn Hills code, but, wouldnt you know, theres no such thing in the code about only having one trash dump for an apartment complex which stretches a mile long.
I have lived here for almost 2 years and cant wait to move-out! Not once in 2 years was a single work-order completed in one visit. I was also instructed to call Emergency Maintenance for no-water in my kitchen sink (maintenance had just replaced my dishwasher and did not turn the water back on all the way). BUT NO ONE CAME OUT THAT NIGHT. NO ONE FROM MAINTENANCE OR THE OFFICE CONTACTED ME THE FOLLOWING DAY. I had to call Emergency Maintenance AGAIN the following night to finally have someone come out and fix a problem they created. Can not wait to move!
Most of the office staff are friendly and helpful. The aprtments are quite nice and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The insulation in these apartments might be a concern. However, most are in great shape and its a good place to live for a short while. As far as tv and Internet goes, if you have any brains you wouldnt take comcast. Directv provides services here. The location is great and all the major shopping centers are nearby. I havent faced any problems with pests yet and I dont expect to either.
Materialistic wise and location to stores, its perfect! But to stay here for 845 plus dollars is taking advantage. They decided to do upgrades and are going up on everyones rent right now. The insulation here is terrible. It is always cold, you can leave your house for weeks and your electric bill is on average 89 dollars even with everything unplugged (thats what I did to make sure I wasnt losing my mind. I unplugged my stove, washer, dryer, garbage disposer, microwave and dishwasher and bill was still pretty high; maybe a 2 dollar decrease.) There is a lot of wild life around here skunks, beavers, racoons and field mice. (maybe even other creatures but I am in before the sun goes down.) The lighting is terrible. There is no trash service at all you are the trash service you have to put your trash in your car and drive it down to the dumpster sucks if you dont have a car or if you are a single parent. This place is INFESTED, INFESTED, INFESTED, INFESTED with spiders and rollie pollies. I have been staying here for 4 years now and decided to stay here because at the rate I was paying for my apartment I figured you couldnt be it especially if you get a two bed, two bath, two walk in closets and a laundry room with washer and dryer, its a win win. These apartments are really nice for the most part to look at; however, the school districts are terrible all the pontiac schools are below average, out of 14,000 school in Michigan they are around 13889 or worse. Not to mention you are close to Pontiac so theres that. The walls are very audible. So far since I have been here my heat shut off maybe three times. I try not to complain because I am not paying the same amount as everyone else. Oh and the mail guy keeps giving me other peoples mail or my mail was going to another address. The upside is, its very convenient when it comes to traveling. I75 is right there, the mall and other shopping centers are very close.
Not the greatest place for the price. For what you pay you may believe that youre living in a luxury community. However, what youll experience doesnt match up with what youre paying. That not to say this place is horrible, theres no gunshots at night - but we did have our vehicle keyed within the first couple months of living here. We lived pretty deep into the complex and all packages left on the door step were promptly stolen. While we kept to ourselves our neighbors were aggressive and unpleasant (they likely were the ones stealing and keying our vehicle). When we complained we received corporate double-talk and inaction.Trash and parking are unnecessary headaches. They have an enormous complex yet do nothing of value to solve the parking problem. They issued parking passes but never took action against violators. There is only one trash drop-off in the front of the complex, and it piles up quickly. On the weekend no one compacts it so it keeps growing and growing and growing. Huge eye-sore. Welcome to Auburn Gate, heres a mountain of trash! The apartments themselves were fine. Heating and cooling we usually hit or miss. On very hot or very cold days the unit usually couldnt keep up. Service requests usually resulted in a unit working as intended response. However, service requests were always answered promptly. Thats the one thing Ill give them props for. Sound isolation in the apartments were bad. One of our neighbors had a bass-heavy sound system and we could hear it. We could hear conversations, though they did sound like adults in Charlie Brown. Regardless, we could hear them. One of the reasons I think they call this place luxury is because of the updated club house. They have fitness classes, cooking classes, board game nights, ect. But, honestly, who really cares about that stuff? I spend 95% of my time in my apartment and thats where the value should be. Not in a clubhouse.Overall, they present these apartments as luxury living but theyre honestly anything but. Maybe they are for Pontiac, but you can find better at a better price not to far from this place.
Parking is hard to find, most people are using garage for storage. People have guests come over from Texas, Wisconsin plates etc and parking in RESIDENT parking only to have real resident park very far from their units. Parking is not monitored and spaces are limited. Hottub hasnt working since the first day of spring and today marks June 29th and the hottub is STILL being fixed for over 2 months now. Cannot recommend them at the moment with the current situations.
I lived here for some weeks, I really considered this place to get a longer contract but now I think the option to avoid this place was the best. Trash and other bad comments are totally correct. My biggest issue is maintenance & management, my first request was 10 days ago, after maybe 10 work orders I received 2 keys not working and one key working one day. When I contacted management, they created “work orders”, I understand this is the way how they work but seriously it’s really bad. Why is the key not working fine since the first time? When I asked if someone verified the key, the answer was “sure”, the key did not fit into the lock, how is it possible? Anyway, just excuses, very polite of course, but definitely management should improve a lot.@Auburn Gate management, before your apologies or comments asking what you can do, my answer is fix my mailbox ASAP.
Beware of this place! Do yourself a favor and read this honest review. If you are thinking about moving here be prepared to never have parking spaces, ever. You have to park at buildings other than you own and the buildings are spaced out from each other like crazy so its like a 6 minute walk.Have fun in the winter or extremely hot winters.Stay away from this placeDont believe me drive through here once ar night past 9pm.
They made me pay the holding fee and application saying that I had the apartment. But today I receive the news that my apartment is not available anymore because the current resident has decided to stay. This is such a joke!!!If I were you I would not trust them!!!When the deal is better for them they do not care about the agreement they made with you, they just do not honor the agreement!
This hottub being fixed thing is a COMPLETE LIE, one of you team members said before the pool party that the hottub will be working by Memorial Day, THATS BEEN A WHILE? If you guys are so adamant, why not post a final day it will be fixed and send a email out to the community for that? If you cant fix it with your poor maintenance team, why not hire a professional.... since a lot of people are paying big bucks for the so called Amenities and scarce parking in these luxury apartments
If you read reviews on most apartment complexes youll see the office staff tend to be terrible and maintenance is miserable. However With Cedarbrooke this isnt the case, the maintenance is outstanding. This is because of three guys, Danny, Arnold and Cameron. These three are the guys you want fixing your things. Theyre always right on and extremely fast., Simply said theyre some of the nicest guys youll ever meet. I have lived here for almost 2 years and Id say I call them friends. If you move here do yourself a favor and stop to meet them. These three are simply the BEST part of living here.
WOW cant say enough great words to describe my experience of working with Chelsea Rager at Auburn Gate apartments.Process was easy, super fantastic professionalism and immediate response to any questions or concerns I had - really put my mind at ease. Would say that Chelsie was the difference - when making my decision to live at Auburn Gate apartments.Thank you Chelsea.Paul Avendt
Lie about amenities, hottub hasnt worked since I moved in last year. Sauna doesnt work (everything that actually costs the management money....DOESNT work and seems to be in repairs for months.).... Im sure the hottub will be working just fine in September just to be turned off for Winter in October... Very disappointing place to live at.
Great amenities and a friendly staff make Auburn Gate worth it! Chelsea Rager is the leasing consult that assisted me with my move into the Auburn Gate. She answered all my questions promptly that I had at the beginning going forward. Very detailed-orientated and extremely professional.Thank you Chelsea and Auburn Gate!
Auburn Gate has an amazing staff that takes care of all of their residents quickly and with a great attitude. We work in housing, as well, and it has been an absolute pleasure working with Chesea Rager to ensure our corporate guest has a wonderful stay. Thank you Chelsea and Auburn Gate!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!!They called my company to do some remodels on there bathrooms in the units they were remodeling. We agreed on a price for the work, then when it was time to square up they didnt pay the bill in full. The contractors Donald and Nate also had me order over $300.00 in parts that were never paid for as well.
I’ve lived here for 8 months now. 4 months in I wanted out. It’s over priced and the service you get is terrible. Promises are not met and they try to adjust the rent as high as possible. Rent is not fixed!! They still haven’t fixed the garbage problem even though they promised they would before September 2017.Just trust all the other negative reviews, I can’t wait for my lease to run out so that I can RUN!
I moved recently moved here and have had no troubles. The new management is really friendly and helpful. Kai-Anne helped me get everything in order while I was out of the state so I could move in as soon as I arrived. Good facilities and even better location. Access to I75 and the right by the entry. Well maintained surroundings, facilities. I dont know why this place has such bad reviews but at least it worked out for me.
This place has been an absolute nightmare since I moved in!The staff here is always so rude and unhelpful.Ive been waiting months to get my air condition fixed and had to deal with 80° temperatures in my apartment. There is NEVER any parking and the trash is over flowed.Do yourself a favor and dont move here.
I have removed my old comments -... the new owners n office is doing a great job...from.the gym to road paving, corridor cleaning everything is perfect now.. the renovated clubhouse is rocking. Staffs r friendly..our issues addressed in a great manner... only request is please set up play area for the kids... atleast a swing n slide please. Otherwise the new cedar Brooke is jus jus wow n great n peaceful to live in....
I highly regret having moved to this place starting this month! I feel it does not deserve even a single star but that was the minimum what google allowed me to!!!!They said that it was a newly renovated unit but it came with a set of problems of its own, To begin with this place did not have a working disposer , they fixed it! Secondly, the dishwasher is not working fine, mind you they said it was a renovated unit!!Most importantly THE HEAT IS NOT WORKING and its been 15 days that we complained about it and NO ACTION has been taken yet! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MANAGE without the heat as it is getting colder outside!! IF THIS IS THE SITUATION WITH THE RENOVATED UNITS THAN IM WONDERING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS A REGULAR ONE, ROOF WOULD FALL OFF?WORST MANAGEMENTNOT RESPONSIBLETHEY DONT EVEN HAVE A RECORD OF MY SERVICE REQUESTWORST REGRET !!!
Great community, clean and probably the best service i have had in a while. The staff were all great, and greeted you soon as you walked in the door. Chelsea Rager was very informative, and kept me updated with every detail i needed during application process and provided me with excellent service!
Great place to live. Awesome staff, clean facilities, quick maintenance response. Very close to everything you need. Despite being in a busy area, this community feels secluded and peaceful because it goes back about a mile from the main road and is surrounded by wooded area.
I’ve been at this place since July nothing but problems I see when I first moved in was not working and it goes out again the hottest day of the month still no AC I wish I can break my lease and go somewhere else or someone cares about you not just taking your money I would never recommend anyone to move here it really just sucks I can’t wait until my lease is over so I can move my family out of this place
I live in Building 705 and Ive been here for a couple of months now Ive had a parcel stolen from my front door delivered by the post office Ive had a newspaper stolen from my front door and today Ive had a potted plant stolen from my front door its getting ridiculous

2022-02-02Auburn Gate has done nothing but disappoint me. As a resident I have had to deal with many complaints that never seemed to get addressed. The doors are propped open during the winter because they can’t shut due to cement rising. We call the office and they say they haven’t heard of the issue when others have called and complained right in front of me. When you move it you’re treated like royalty but wait until you’re all settled in. Please don’t reply leaving a message to call and discuss because nothing will be fixed correctly. Find the root cause as to why these doors don’t shut and correct it. We pay a lot of money to stay at this complex . People that don’t live here don’t need to be seeing open doors. It could be perceived as a security issue.Update since last review: Auburn Gate fixed our issue. Thank you Auburn Gate!

2022-06-16I lived there for about less than a year and I have no complaints at all! I took all reviews in consideration prior to signing my lease. The apartments are beautifully updated and very spacious. Whatever issues I needed for maintenance (I had an issue with some electric outlets, the door wall screen, the fireplace, the dryer, and I needed some painting done) Ken took care of it all promptly and diligently great guy and asset to the complex! The offered amenities are in great condition including the gym, sauna, and during summertime the pool! The resident app is consistent and easy to use- all my financial dealings were straightforward no hidden fees or inconsistencies. The trash situation was not bad at all contrary to some reviews. The parking was a hassle at times but again I never had to park way too far. Neighbors were always nice and quiet. The leasing office can be a hit or miss because agents seem to change often but the current leasing office manager Eboni is very knowledgeable trustworthy and super nice! The location close to I-75, mall and stores was phenomenal. All in all it was great! I’m glad for my time there!

2022-04-11Wish I could rate lower than 1 star, that’s too generous. In the last 3 months alone there has been a shooting outside my building and now one of my family’s vehicles has been stolen. Little to no communication or support from management through any of the difficulties we’ve had. Looking into breaking my lease ASAP, this complex is NOT SAFE! Would never recommend to anyone! Also nothing short of disappointed since moving in. 48 hours before I was set to move in they called and said my unit “wasn’t available” anymore, despite signing a lease a month prior. I was forced to settle for a different unit at the front entrance of the complex which has only been problematic, emphasis on a shooting and vehicle theft. There’s far too much traffic in this complex to not have any security. Paperwork has been “lost,” I get error late notices on a regular basis threatening inaccurate extra charges, and quite frankly the apartment I’m renting is WAY overpriced for what it is… definitely will not renew my lease.

2022-03-22I lived here for over a year starting in 2020, and I enjoyed my time there. Reserving a unit was fast and easy. Maintenance was always quick and super friendly, and I really enjoyed management overall. We had very nice neighbors, and the community was well kept. I never had any complaints.I was actually looking to move back to this community this summer, and had started reaching out this year in February. I emailed a handful of times trying to get ahold of someone, called twice, and was never able to speak to anyone. Its now nearing the end of March and no one has ever called or emailed me back, so we decided to live elsewhere. Im not sure if the management has changed since Ive been there, but I was hoping for a much better experience than that, especially being a past resident.

2022-01-24We just moved out of Auburn Gate and we were sad to leave! We loved our time living there! The complex is very quiet, maintenance was always very friendly and fast, the apartment itself is beautiful and the amenities were amazing. We loved having an on site dog park. Mel and Ebonie in the office were fantastic. Thank you Auburn Gate!

2021-07-14The staff is nice and the neighbors are pretty cool, other than that there is not a lot of positives. Sewage literally overflowed from my neighbors apartment and it took 4 hours to get a plumber out. It was disgusting. As you see, I have yet to use the hot tub because its never been clean, not one time that Ive been here. There are so many bugs everywhere and there exterminator they send out does literally nothing. Rent also went up, even though amenities have gotten terrible and the only reason I moved here. This is my last year here, might as well buy a house then deal with expensive rent and not enjoy resort style living that is worst than any other place Ive lived.

2022-04-10Honestly a beautiful place but I feel very unsafe. Within a few months of living here there has been a shooting and my car has been stolen. There is no one in the security shack and the camera by the dumpster appears to be not in use. Security was a main selling point for me considering I’m paying $1900 a month. Very disappointed and would not recommend this place. There is traffic at all hours of the day through the complex and should be better monitored. We were originally supposed to be placed further back in the complex but unfortunately two days before move in they moved us to a different unit because old tenants didn’t leave even after we signed the lease.

2022-04-02I was once a resident at Auburn Gates apartments my experience in the beginning was great no complaints working with Mel gave me a sense of we care!!!! Well fast forward I moved out in January I had been trying to contact the leasing office to let them know I would not be renewing my lease this began in October no one ever called me back !!!!!! I explained myself to both managers and it was agreed upon I would get back my refund it was no fault of mine!!! This was told to me in February I have called and called and the manager is always in a meeting!!! Mind you I spoke with her in March she stated I would get my refund check last week in March called on Thursday, Friday and Saturday I guess she’s still in a meeting as she had not called me back !!! All I want is my total refund due back to me !!! So please give me my refund as you stated you would

2022-04-15The apartments are nice on the inside but not worth the hassle of the staff and their turnover rate. I had a significant issue I’ve been trying to deal with after moving out and was not able to get in touch with anyone in the office and my phone calls were never returned, mind you I was leaving voicemails 3 times a week and was assured a manager would contact me. This went on for several months and I still have yet to receive a phone call for this issue. I moved some distance away so it wasn’t an option to stop in. The management at this complex is lacking to say the least and they will find any way to over charge you.Edit to managements reply: per my review, I moved some distance away so it wasn’t an option to stop in. Based on other reviews, I see I am not the only person this has happened to as far as misplacing move-out documentation.

2022-02-21My experience with just talking to this apartment complex has been a nightmare. I recently applied and was denied which was fine.I was told the application process took 72 hours in which it took longer. And once denied we requested our holding deposit back. In which we then got an email from one of the staff members here saying they could help us out but just needed a little more documents in which we proceeded to send to them to not only get our hopes up but to then be told by someone else that nothing will help we were in fact denied. We have been calling for two weeks now to get someone on the phone only to never get a call back. But they can respond via email. After all that we finally said okay we’re done please just provide our holding deposit back. In which they said no because the time frame had passed for them to be able to refund it( in which it wouldn’t have if they wouldn’t have told us they could help us) This place is so unprofessional and unhelpful especially for new residents wanting to live here. All we wanted was our holding fee back and yet we couldn’t even get a call back from anyone in this office.
