I always have an amazing time here, which I did. I was there on Friday 4/16. I went to get a beverage from the bar. Jason the bartender was just flat out rude! He tossed the receipt and pen at me and chucked the can in the garbage. His attitude was very foul and he was just very rude! One of my worst customer service experiences I have had.
We went on a weekday and the line to get in was almost to the parking lot. I feel they oversell tickets and should limit the amount of people using day passes. There was problem kids throughout the place and staff and parents allowed it. Kids pushing kids in the lazy river. The food was crazy expensive. A cheese pizza and 3 drinks was $37.37. Its hard to take a family here and feed them with these prices. If other places can make a living selling $5 pizzas this place could too. Greedy.
A great mini vacation with my daughter. Booked with three hours notice, the staff (For the most part) was extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist with our stay. Immediately after booking I had some issues with ordering our stay and save water passes online and the young woman I spoke with on the phone (later found out she was from the water park) exuded superior customer service by booking the tickets over the phone so my daughter and I could jump right over to Avalanche Bay after checking in. The only unpleasant experience I had -hence the three stars - was with a woman named Elsa when I called back to book our second day at the water park, which the original young lady told me to do. She acted rude and stated The reason you get the 10% off the water park, is because YOU are putting in the work to order online. Of course I was taken back by this answer. Owning two businesses of my own, Id never tell a client that the reason Im giving you a discount is because youre doing work for me. I commend the original young lady in exemplifying customer service and what it entails, and hope Elsa can follow suit.I hung up and will now put in the work to order our tickets online.
I could go on and on about how disappointed we were on our recent trip to the waterpark! We paid a lot of money to come here and stay at this hotel and go to this waterpark for spring break. It was way OVERCROWDED!! First of all when my husband, kids, and I came down to the waterpark from our HOTEL Room in our swim suits we were told we had to get in line…..we had to stand in line OUTSIDE in the very cold weather in a HUGE line that wrapped around the building. To me this is truly unacceptable for your GUESTS that are actually staying on the property. Like every single waterpark we have been to this should be an included convenience….Then when we actually got inside there were no lockers left everything was sold out. There were no places to sit there were hardly any places to stand. Lines were crazy long for everything especially the bigger water slides my kids waited between 45 minutes and an hour for certain rides. There was even a wait for the lazy river, hot tub, going on the indoor play structure, etc….The concession stand was insanely expensive. I would recommend bringing outside food. Otherwise you are spending $12 for a tiny basket of three chicken fingers. (No fries included, that’s extra!) I am truly disappointed in our overall experience and we will not be back! There are better places to go in Michigan (Zehnders has been our favorite so far) Avalanche bay felt like a money grab who don’t care about their guests.
I would rate this place a 2.5 to 3 stars (rounded up to 3.0)Hmm, what can I say about this place?Their claim to fame is there one of the largest in Michigan if not the largest… to me it was just another waterpark nothing special at all. It’s served at purpose that’s all. It’s a pale imitation if you compare to Kalahari in Sandusky Ohio (I am Michigan Through and Through but that’s the truth) Kalahari has them beat on the humongous wave pool that looks like you’re outside but you’re inside and looks like a beach area. Kalahari also has an OUTSIDE water area (that’s quite good) where this place doesn’t. Kalahari also offers a rope‘s course option, mini golf, arcades, loads of shops and restaurants, to call this place up pale imitation would be doing a disservice to Kalahari. But in this place is defense Kalahari the waterpark and this is a mountain for skiing and snowboarding with a waterpark as side attraction, so it’s not really fair comparing them to, hence they should probably keep their prices low for what they are.I have no complaints whatsoever on the rides think they had like four big kid rides did all of them except the orange where you are standing up in the tube (seemed cool but didn’t give it a try).We came here for two days over spring break, it was extremely packed (as expected), On the first day, paid Full price for tickets which was around $20 higher than what the website stated, let the person know at the front and she replied “I know what you are talking about but we just raised it for spring break”, either fix your website or honor your pricing. Anyways we’re going to pay for it because the kid wanted to go to a waterpark, so paid, changed and then realized both the men and women’s lockers were completely full, so one person had to sit and watch items (as we didn’t really want to run back to the car in the snow weather after changing). Note to self: leave valuables locked in car and bring the bare minimum, includes the phone unless you have someone sitting to watch it.Concession stands here are crazy over price for extremely low grade food and drinks. (I think this is to be expected at these type of places they are just money pits, silly little attractions to to keep people occupied). With a little bit of creativity this and so many other places can be so much better, but that’s not the point of these places, they are just entertainment hubs just separate people from money. If you ski or snowboard and you can couple this with that this place makes more sense as an additional item for the kids to enjoy.Word of caution: The surface area is quite cool but if you have little kids stand at the top and be ready to catch them before they hit the wall, as I didn’t see the staff catching any of the kids. As parents have to be diligent ourselves.Parking: Was extremely packed the two times we went. Solution: Just drop off the family at the main building and then park on the far right and walk/run back to the main building then you can walk through the main building and get to the waterparkLocker rooms: Very messy (but what ever it’s a locker room)What they do well:They offer a spectator pass for $10, would be useful for someone if they have to watch the stuff and can’t go play. Conclusion:If you live close enough around 2 to 3 hours away it’s worth a visit, but really no different than any other water park just some thing to do with the kids. Place is worth it when the prices are normal around $30 or so a person, when it’s close to $60 a person this place is definitely not worth it, and that’s the simple truth. unfortunately they know that parents sometimes want to take the kids to these type of places and they price gouge, us parents will still have to take our kids there, especially when places like Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge are charging an arm and a leg for a one night stay over spring break. We will probably be back if we don’t find better deals at Kalahari for the times we wish to travel. If they were smarter they should keep their prices that $30 all year long.
No snow on the ground so we decided to spend two days at the waterpark! Enjoyed ourselves and the kids had a great time. Something for just about everybody to do. I will say if your child is under 4 feet, which two of our grandsons were, there were only a couple of slides for them to go down. They have a restaurant inside so you can grab a snack if you would like and even have a bar that is attached to the building that you can go and grab an adult beverage if needed. They have a hot tub area for kids and adults and then another one that is adults only. There were plenty of chairs both days for us to put our stuff on. We would definitely return again.
Weve had a great experience here. The place has been tidy and the staff friendly. The hotel is completely booked but it does not seem as chaotic as other waterpark hotels weve been to. Even the check in process seemed pretty efficient. The breakfast buffet at Everetts was great! We like that the water park has enough activities that are age appropriate to keep our two toddlers entertained.
Fun and activity filled waterpark! We come here a few times a year and love the whole area! We buy the full day passes and spend the entire day there (11-8). Food you can get there is also really good. We have kids (8,5,2) and they all 3 love everything Avalanche Bay has to offer!
This was our first visit to the park and I was not impressed. They claim to be Michigans largest Waterpark, which is misleading. Great Wolf has just as much if not more for the kiddos to do.The bathrooms/changing area was disgusting! Dirty towels scattered all over the floor. The toilet didnt look like it had been cleaned for some time and garbage was overflowing. The young lady supervising the RIP ZONE was not helpful and unfriendly. We paid $4.50 for slushys that werent even frozen and tasted awful. This place is a total disappointment! Save your money!
Our kids & my husband & I love this place! There is something to do for everyone. This is our 2nd year going there on spring break. We had a good time. When we first got there we settled in, then went to s bonfire made smores, then walked around explored went to dinner. The food was really good. The kids went to the waterpark we had drinks, & got to pet 2 horses & take pics with them. After the waterpark closed there was another indoor/outdoor pool that was open til 11pm there was so much to do our room was also nice!
This place is amazing! lots a fun watersides, pools and other fun activities. about every 15 minutes the ice breaks and a ton of water comes splashing down from above. They have a nice place to eat called the Snack Shack. I would 100% recommend spending your weekend here!
I just went Halloween weekend and it was the best time I’ve had in a while! There was so many different activities and things to do! We did the wagon ride, bonfire/smores, arcade, chairlift up the mountain, custome contest, coloring contest, and so much more! This place even has a daycare facility available! Different stores, different bars! Paintball gun, fishing, literally everything on one mountain! I definitely recommend and we will be back in the summer! My kids were all smiles!! Also everyone was very very friendly!!
Ryan was our bartender and was amazing!!! He waited on so many people at one time and still kept a positive attitude. He might have been warring a name tag that said Ethan but he was such a such a nice person I had to learn his real name!! Such a great time and really fun for my daughters!!
Trying to book a room. But apparently they only do 2 - 3 nights minimums. Heading up for work on a Saturday & wanted to spend the day & night for the first time with my son, but they refuse to make an exception. Not to mention kids are back in school, so Friday & Saturday nights or Saturday & Sunday nights arent that easy when its a 3-4 hour drive up.Guess this is one waterpark we wont ever be going to. Sticking with Kalahari moving forward, at least the dont force people into extra nights.
The family had an incredibly fun time at the waterpark! We enjoyed the waterslides, especially the blue and purple slide. Bought the day pass, but the kids were pooped after 4 hours. I believe the full day pass is worth the extra money, though. There are areas in the waterpark that accomodate every age group. There is a pool for the toddlers, a large playscape for all ages, 9(ish) waterslides you can enjoy if you are 48 or taller, a surf simulator, water basketball and a lazy river. The waterpark has a concession stand the provides food and drink. The food is expensive and subpar. The pricing for combos do not make much sense. We also visited the arcade while at the waterpark. $20 does not go a long way. My 2 kids played for maybe 5 minutes on $20 and walked away with a 1 inch SpongeBob figurine, a box of sour gummie worms, and one tattoo. They still enjoyed the games and had fun, though. Overall, we really enjoyed the waterpark and would most definitely recommend!
After looking at website we were excited to visit Avalanche Bay only to leave an hour later. The water wasn’t very warm and we were expecting it to be a bit larger. Upon leaving, the woman’s locker room was disgusting. The floor was flooded, dirty, and had hair all over. The curtains in the changing stalls were all ripped and you really didn’t have any where for privacy to change. For the pricing I’d much rather go to Zehnders’s Splash Village or Kalahari.
I reserved our stay 2 months in advance. We got in our hotel and told the kids go get your stuff and and we can go. We got down to the water park and she couldn’t find us 😳 so she told us with the covid thing, things changed. She told me what the new requirements were, so basically I’ll break it down for you. You are paying $545.00 for Friday thru Sunday without the water park passes. That’s completely separate. So you are basically staying in a nice hotel for that much money? It would’ve cost us as a family of 6 around $140 extra for only 3 hours at the water park. So me and my husband went down and explained a lady then she told this other guy and then he then went over to the manager. He basically told us sorry about your luck so I told him i want to leave and asked for a full reimbursement, so he gladly gave me a full refund. So it is labor day weekend and we are literally sitting at home bc everywhere is booked out for the weekend. And we had this planned for 2 months in advance. And we were going bc it was one of my kids 12 yr birthday. Thanks so much for ruining our weekend getaway. Considering we own our own business and it’s hard for us to get away in the first place. Very disappointed! Don’t recommend them at all.
Wife and i hung out and talked while kids played. Pretty big place. Pretty much all ages. Something for young and older kids. Been here 4 times, 3 out of 4, the wave rider was down. No one could tell me if it was going to be turned on that day.Not a lot of food choices in the water park, but restaurants outside. Overall, a good place to visit.
Once you can get over the somewhat expensive entrance fee (yes I know this isnt a cheap place to maintain) then, assuming youre not expecting some sort of haute cuisine fine dining experience, its really good. I know others have had bad experiences. Ours was great. Clean, well maintained, with plenty of attentive life guards meant that I felt my kids (boys 8 and 9) would always be safe. Plenty of towels, a good range of fun and surprisingly exciting rides (with almost no queues our visit), a great surf machine, and an upstairs craft centre where little ones to chill for a bit, we had a really fun day here. Given what other have said, only advice I would give would be to call ahead and check all rides were operational (or maybe they could post this info on the website).
This waterpark was a blast! Its really great for families with kids of all ages. Mine are 4, 7 & 10 and they all had fun. I really like that there is a slide that parents can ride down with their little ones and that they had life jackets in every size. We will definitely be back!
Love it! The orange trap door slide is so fun! They have a decent amount of rides and the slides they have are pretty good for the price. You get 4 racing slides plus the drop slide plus 2 big slides and then the kids area and lazy river. I recommend going after 4pm to save some bucks because after going up those stairs 6 times if you can manage to stay all day thats impressive. This was a fun water park, Id come back next time for sure! I dont have any complaints, the service was fine and the park was clean and fun.
Overall its fun but with downsides. A bunch of great slides and other activities for really young kids. Large lazy river, but it gets congested. At night they dropped the water temperature to unpleasant levels. There is no indoor pool for swimming. One evening they closed the lazy river and some connected rides because of contamination and kept promising to reopen it but never did so that was wasted money. It was good to visit once but never ever again.
Great for families. Park is indoors so you can go no matter the weather. It is not overly large and can get crowded. If you want to find a seat get there early. They have passes for chaperones so if someone is going to just watch they dont have to pay full price. All in all kids love it. Biggest downside is the food. Long lines, not enough people working, area was dirty, food was not very good. Hot dog was hard and could have driven I to town and back to get a pizza as long as it took to get our order. Bar area had young kids eating at bar even though all the tables were empty (and very dirty). Long line in bar as well. No fault if the staff they just need more help.
First of all the positive, the number of lifeguards made it feel incredibly safe. However, the cleanliness needs to improve. There was some brown substance near the kiddie pool. In an ideal world adults would clean up after themselves and their children, however that was not the case. Also, the bathrooms were covered in used towels. Last, please replace the shower curtains. It seems as if someone cut it for some weird reason.
This is an awesome indoor water park! We had a blast there is a lot of fun to check out. It was extremely warm for being a cold winter weekend. All in all it was pretty clean the staff was super probably. They even have a great arcade for the little ones. However be careful on the surfing wave to have the little kids on there. They can be a little dangerous my daughter got hurt however the staff was extremely helpful and she was back to herself shortly.
Expensive but worth it. I have a two-year-old and I felt very safe of all the lifeguards on duty. Run special place for her so she didnt have to go on all the big slide. They had some big slides there were pretty scary for Even grown up. I would definitely do it again.
Great for family and kids. As an adult there are a few attractions but its mainly centered on kids. As it should be! Well maintained appears and safety very important I can see. I was there for skiing but decided to check it out. As a guest centered on skiing and value I go with the Boynehof or Clock Tower Lodge for room. There is a pool and hot tub for those guests. It is outside. Avalanche Bay is great for familys to unwind after the day. Be advised at peak times certain parts have a wait. Thanks Boyne for the guest experience.
Surf machine (flowrider) was down. Also, water park admission is not included with your hotel stay, which is odd considering the water park is attached to the Mountain Grand Lodge. No adult only area such as an adult only hot tub. They have one hot tub and its family friendly, so expect kids/splashing/lukewarm water. $37 for an adult full day pass, $31 for a junior full day pass. Adult evening pass (4-close) $31, junior evening $27. Junior is ages 3-10. Adult is 11 and up. 11 and up does not require an adult to go to the water park. Junior must have an adult. Non swimming chaperone passes are $10. Overall, just go to Great Wolf Lodge. Water park is included in your hotel stay at Great Wolf. Honestly, hotel room rates at both are very similar and you get more value at Great Wolf. Oh, Great Wolf also has an adults only hot tub thats nice and hot!
Did the Birthday party package... Staff was ok. Our group was told we couldnt have any outside snacks, when 2 other groups next to us had meals and coolers full of snacks. The arcade wasnt very good. Way too expensive. The games cost a lot of tokens for like 20 seconds of a game.
This is one of the best places to go for a family trip! The water park was huge & clean. I should have prepaid for our tickets bc it was pricey for the four of us..way cheaper online! But it was well worth the trip. We stayed in a cabin and I believe we should have gotten tickets or at least a discount for that. I will definitely go again
We had a great time! The staff was nice and friendly and the water park was fun and not too busy. We went after 430pm. The only reason I didnt give five stars is because I felt that overall it could have been a little cleaner in the locker rooms, floors, chairs, and tables. But other than that great place!
This is a fantastic indoor water park for families to enjoy. The slides are a blast for kids and adults alike. Enough thrill for an adrenaline junkie, enough variety for those who like to float or soak. Your kids will have a blast. It has the typical amusement park mark-ups. Not a cheap day out for a family, but a great time none the less.
This is my 3rd time at Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark. Every time has been an amazing experience. This one was knocked down 1 star for this reason… the staff did their jobs fine but all but a couple of them looked unlively, boring, and acted like they didn’t want to be there. This hasn’t been the case in the last years so it was a bit unexpected. For example, Jordan. She was so kind, caring, exciting, and most of all, hot. Unfortunately she resigned.
Positive:Water park is clean, pretty cool water rides, life guards are watching really good, pizza and wings good, arcade was fun, outside heated pool and large hot tubes, we stayed in cabins and it was awesome, staff super nice, grocery store about 6 miles in town. Over all super nice and fun for half the price of other parks.Negative:Water park is a little small, lazy river is a little to small for my liking, surfing water ride was down all three days, two hot tubes indoors had too much chemical in it.Listen, if you and the family have never been...Its a must. I well be coming back.
This park was talked up so much to me, so maybe I just had too high of expectations. We enjoyed the park. Its moderately sized (although big for Michigan). They have a nice bar separate from the noise and ambiance of the park as well as a snack shack. Bartender made a weird comment about how much I drank (2 drinks). My major issue was that there seemed to be no enforcement of keeping street shoes out of the area where people were barefoot. It just grossed me out.
The company that I work for is currently repainting the entire structure at this facility. Working with the business so that it still operates at their normal hours. Beautiful place and very clean. Come on out and bring the entire family for a day of fun splashing around.. If you get tired of the water for a bit. Walk into the arcade or get yourself a drink at the bar. So much to enjoy at this beautiful place.
Hated it. We were checked into a dirty room, and then moved twice after that. They couldnt even handle check in; should have been a red flag. They gave the impression that the water park was open, upon check in we let them know that we were specifically there to take our kids to the water park. The next morning(after our nasty 70$ breakfast), we realized that the water park was closed Sunday-Thursday. Big disappointment!! The lady at the front check out was incompetent, to say the least. 200+$ for nothing. Will never return. We ended up driving down to Traverse city, Great wolf lodge has a much nicer establishment, competent employees, and far better rates.
Pros Lockers in the bathrooms and bathing suit dryer s . Find a way to bring your own food, it is expensive and not good quality at the snack shack or bar.Lots of water slides, hot tubs plenty of tubes.Water temperature is usually nice for an indoor waterpark.Conveniently located to the ski resort and attached to hotel.Flow rider is here.Negatives:facility needs to be reconditioned as it is not up to date aesthetically.Management is hit or miss depending on whom is working. Management is poor with training employees. Some of the employees from other countries are phenomenal, otherwise you get backwoods employees that are unprofessional.Rides and attractions are not all open it depends on volume of people attending.Closes down a few minutes early instead of staying open to posting hours.harassment issues in locker room by employees on one occasion taking towels away from children and others while getting dressed. This place could be great if it was reconditioned and the right employees were hired/fired and better policy and procedures were put in place.
Got a great rate for an overnight room and Waterpark tickets with the school is out splash package. Room was wonderful (loved the knotty pine everywhere) and my kids had a blast at the waterpark. Big thank you to Vonette at check-in for the great customer service and looking at our requests. Had a late dinner at the 40 Acre Tavern, food and service was great again. We will defiantly be back!!
Lots of water for sure!! This place has 1 shallow pool for kids, 1 deeper pool, a couple tube style slides, a nice water slide, and other things. We did see life guards a lot walking around. We took kids from 2 -8 years.. 2-3 years are really to small in my opinion. This place needs a dry enclosed area near the pools for adults to relax with young babies. The locker rooms need serious upgrades. Shower drapes are way to small for privacy, and no doors on locker room entry.. young boys were coming in!!
This place was awesome. We had never gone here before and I have to tell you, it was a lot of fun. The waterpark was a lot of fun everything was clean the only thing I have to complain about is, the towels were very small. But other than that it was a lot of fun. The arcade was very cool. The outside pools were at the perfect temperature except if you had your head above the water you kind of freeze your head off. But other than that they were warm and nice. The only other thing I have to complain about is that the beds were very soft and uncomfortable but Im not that picky so I wouldnt give this place a bad review just because of the beds. The staff was very nice and friendly and helpful. When we checked out of our room we were going back to our house and I realize that I left my phone charger in the room. So my mom called the hotel which then call the lost and found and they had found my phone charger and they were going to send it back to us via mail. Even my mom was impressed and I tell you, its very hard to please my mother. This place was amazing the staff was great the hotel was clean the water park was fun. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Awful. Costs nearly 50 dollars for 4 years up but they have only a couple of slides unless you are 4 feet tall plus. Fun for older kids, but basically nothing for under 7 year olds. They claim 84 degree water, this is a lie. Rusty equipment, expensive lockers, awful food. Guess the money goes towards the lifeguards..But so many?.... Is someone overreacting somewhere? Would give zero stars if possible.
Largest water park in Michigan????!! Maybe 20 years ago. I have no idea how they are figuring that number other than just completely falsifying information. This is the worst waterpark we have ever been to. Soaring eagle water park and Frankenmuth (Splash Village) both put this place completely to shame. It is very old and worn down. The attractions we were most excited about was the wave simulator, but it was down and after reading other reviews we found its been down for at least the past 9 months!! Yet they are still marketing that as park of their water park. Unreal. Extreme case of false advertising happening here on many fronts, market yourselves for what you are instead of lying to get people in the door. We made the best of our time as we drove out of our way and had already purchased tickets, but we were pretty upset at what we walked into. It was a joke. I would give zero stars if possible.
Attempted to make an appointment with them. They kept putting me on hold, transferring me to others. Was told I would be called back the next day to turn out I had to call and wait an hour. For my time waisted I asked for some type of compensation if I was going to stay. The manager began to be rude and told me that is something they do not do. By far the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. Will definitely be staying elsewhere.Fyi. They do not honor online codes when you call, and you cannot book a 1 night stay during the weekend until 2 weeks out. It is also not guaranteed that there will be a room open.Good luck if you plan on staying with them.
Would have been happy to make this a 5 star rating but due to the inexcusable rudeness, and “you kids are such a pain” attitude of Anna at the Snack Shack this is the best I can write. Have been to Avalanche Bay at least a dozen times but this will most likely be try e last one. Too bad The actions of one employee have to ruin an otherwise very fun day. Who make three kids wait over 30 minutes for a slushee? If you go and order you better have your mind made up on flavor, indecision leads to increased rudeness and a longer wait. Sorry Boyne, headed downhill on this part of the resort.
The water park was fun for the kids but I was very disappointed with the lack of customer service. Our 11 year old uses a wheelchair and we were glad to hear they had lifts for the pool. No one offered to help and at one point a life guard watched as my husband carried and handed her over the edge of the pool to me, another watched as he had to lift her out (right next to the chair lift) Another parent showed more care and concern than they did. The hot tub that had the chair lift was roped off so we only had a small area in one pool for her to use.Snack bar took over an hour to make a cheese burger and cheese sticks and they were cold when we got them. Spent over $40 for a cold lunch that took almost an hour.I wanted to give them only 1 star but the kids did have fun and they didnt notice the lack of customer service, building in need of maintenance, or the struggle we had with the lack of handicap accomodiations.
I was not impressed we dined upstairs in the clock tower. Kids buffet was ok. Our waitress was horrible. You should at least have your beverages filled while eating. It wasnt even busy, so that was even more disappointing that our service was meh. Not sure how the rest of the property was but based on overly priced rooms, I am happy we did not stay.
My family loves going here and theres so much to do including an arcade! Theres two big huge water slides that you can go on and one that you climb inside of standing up with no tube. As youre standing there waiting on the girl that is operating it, you have to wait and then as soon as she pushes the button it drops you through the floor and you go down through the tube on the outside of the building and back inside and down into the bottom where the rest of the fun Is!! They have two hot tubs and a big pool where you can play basketball while swimming. They also have a water slide that you actually can race your friend down! Its actually set on a timer and then when you guys get to the end it announces who the winner is! The girls bathroom is huge and Im sure the mens room is also. Theres also a pool where you can get on a surfboard and surf on your stomach or your feet whichever! However you can get on the board anyways. What is two areas for kids, theres a kitty pool next to a hot tub and there is a big huge area for the small and the big kids to have fun on which also has water slides! The kids can dump water on your head if youre not careful Im not paying attention, because thats something fun for the kids to do and laugh at you while they dump water on your head... lol
The park itself is great. Im only giving 3 stars because customer service here is pretty bad. The room was ready late, no discount offered. We waited an hour for noodles at the restaurant and the manager never came over he sat at the bar the whole night talking to what appeared to be his friend.....I could say more but Im done lol. I would still recommend going here though, the park is nice and a lot of fun. ******Im now editing because the trophy room is great and they made up for earlier service issues, plus mngt respond to my original review quickly. Kuddos Boyne, thanks.
Do not book a birthday party here, very un organized, different rules for different people we couldnt have outside beverages or snacks but the birthday party next to us could? We had to take our stuff out to car but Birthday party next to us had all kinds of chips and beverages. We had to purchase beverages and snackes between 12 noon and 3:00 from snack bar. Party supposedly started at noon but we just got a bag of chips and were told we couldnt have outside beverages or food . Very very disappointed. Maybe try wolf lodge in TC.
I want to give a Thank you to Patrick!! After misplacing my tickets that I had purchased in advance and printed for my family of 14, I was having a panic attack. Called and let him a message. Called me back and helped me out! Awesome customer service!! Our family had a great time!! Thank you to you and your staff.
On Sunday, June 14th, we took our Girl Scout Troop to Avalanche Bay. I would rate it a 10!!! The registration staff was efficient and nice, lifeguards were diligent and friendly, the facility was immaculate. The water activities were very appropriate for all ages. Our girls and adults had a super time and will definitely go back.
I do not normally write reviews of any kind. I took my family to Avalanche bay for 2 days and a night. First the good, staff was quiet friendly and knowledgable. Food was decent and not crazy overly priced as you would expect from a setting like this. slides and water attractions were very nice. We went on the last Saturday night of last weeks of spring break for all schools. The lazy river was insane I wouldnt want me kids in there alone (they are 6 and 8). The Lifeguards did not keep a very tight control over children acting redicilous while in the lazy river to which I was not impressed. The whole layout of the water park is poorly designed from the stairway up to the main slides and the exits from them particular slides that dump into the lazy river. The steps to get into and out of the lazy river are so narrow that it is a constant traffic jam of people trying to get into and out of the lazy river. The worse part of the whole experience were the locker/bathrooms. Having been in the military sleeping in the elements and living in old dirty barracks I can pretty much deal with anything. That being said the locker rooms grossed even me out. On top of being way way to small and over crowded it is doubtful that much effort was put forth to keep up on the cleanliness of the rooms/ showers. some sort of shower footware is a absolute must have.
Avalanche Bay is surprisingly clean. We have been to a handful of waterparks that smell moldy and musty and arent well maintained. Avalanche Bay is top notch in this aspect. The lifeguards are so alert and do a great job. Our 3 kids love all of the slides and theres something for all ages (even the adults have fun).
In general, it was awesome! The only negative I have, and its a biggie, is in the afternoon there were way too many EMPTY tubes floating in the Lazy River!! This made it very congested, and unsafe for getting in and out, as well as floating in this area!! I think you should have at least one staff person, not a life guard, in charge of monitoring this!!
Do not trust the life guards to keep your children safe!!!!!! Thank god I was paying attention!!!!Please read!So the water park seemed nice at first, slides were fun but safety does not seam to be there main concern, we took my daughter here for her birthday and spent good money for her to have a good time instead i have a child who is now terrified after a life threatening experience and slightly traumatized myself from screaming for help and getting none, and finding my child traped under another childs tube, the look of terror on her face as i pulled her out from under the tube will stay with me forever, when i approached the staff at the water park about it they basically said that she wasnt hurt so it was ok i asked to file a formal complaint and they gave me a business card to contact the director of the water park and that i could send him an email. For the safety of your children pleass dont come here and expect the life guards to do there jobs and keep your children safe, if i would have done that my daughter might not have been here for me to tuck in tonight.
Once youve been here you cant even bother with mt pleasants water park. It is awesome. So many different slides and activities. The straight drop down like 38 feet tunnel/water slide (that also protrudes outside of the building and comes back in) is pitch black too its INSANE! If you want to know what its like to leap off a 40 ft building youll love it.The ONLY thing I can complain about is that doggone rope bridge up to the two purple kid aged water slides ....we were there 3 hrs (got good and wrinkly) and my kids feet are swollen and the color of strawberries!! A little motrin and hes fine. And also, the snack shack is expensive as all HECK. After spending almost 90 bucks for a family of 4 (being guests at the boyne blue mtn resort) give us a break. Its worth the extra money to come to this water park but bring you own food (could leave in car) and they really need to give the condo/resort guests a bigger break than a whole four dollars.
I took my daughter and her friends to Avalanche Bay for her birthday on February 15th. 2015. We purchased the tickets online and drove three hours to get to their facility, when I arrived at 3:30pm. I talked to Mike a supervisor there about the air quality in the park, he assured me there was no problem it was caused by the large number of people in the facility. They went into play while I checked in our hotel room, at 4:30pm. I received a call from my daughter that they shut the park down. Because of the malfunction of the oxygen scrubber that monitors the air quality in the park, they refunded my credit card and I could not find Mike since he left since the air quality affected him, but apparently he thought it was good enough to leave the children in. I called and talked to Mathew the manager of the Hotel and he assured me he would have the water park director follow up and make it right with me, but never called back. They clearly are not focused on how they treat their customers, two of the girls left with headaches and bloodshot eyes for the experience. Save your money and go somewhere else as when things go bad they dont really care.
Place is awesome, alot better then alot of the indoor water parks i have been to only problem is the food snacks are extremely over priced and since michigan is obviously obsessed with alcohol and drinking every waking second of the day they serve alcohol. If your into that
Weve been to Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City and Soaring Eagle Waterpark in Mt. Pleasant, but Avalanche Bay and the resort take the cake. The waterpark itself was somewhat similar to the others weve been to, the slides are probably a little better. However, all the complimentary extras you get when you stay at Boyne Mountain made our trip. We went up the ski lift with the kids, listened to live music while we ate dinner outside, sat around the fire pit and had smores provided by the hotel, visited Deer Lake (on site) and did free kayaking, played on the beach, kids went swimming. There are complimentary activities every weekend. We will be going back for sure!
This place is the worst and most boringest place i’ve ever been to. first the water park is not that big and is pretty lame. the water was FREEZING to me and my friend. Also, the water is not deep at all. It should be deeper for taller people so they won’t have to like bend their kneee all the way so they can fit their body in the water. Another thing wrong is on the purple loop slide, there’s way tooo many spins that gives me a huge headache. There’s more than just the water park too. The rooms are disgusting, nasty, and old. I’ve only been to this place for 1 hour and i’m like this place is like hell. The wifi is trash me and my friend can’t connect from our small little bunk bed cabin. In order to get to the water park, u have to walk a long distance in the cold weather where there’s ice all on the ground. But another thing i’ve realized when i first walked into the hotel was... the smell. It smells nasty af like some old people, hairy pu**y, and dead cat. Me and my friend both looked at eachother like BOI this place smell. The bunk bed room in the hotel room is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too small. i couldn’t even move at all or open the door. I’d honestly rather be at home in my room for a whole day grounded with nothing to do. This place lame and i ain’t ever comin back. Get y’all shi* together
Its a great water park. My family and i had a lot of fun. However.1. Very over priced. Not worth 33 dollars per person. I know thats the daily rate but people shouldnt have to wait till 4pm to do half day for a few dollars less.2. Way to many young children in charge of handeling money. I watched the girl swipe my card 2 times. I thought nothing of it cause the machine may have glitched but when i checked my bank account a few days later avalanche bay had charged me 2 times of 132.00 dollars. The life guards did not smile at all lile they were all mad all the time.My opinion on them, thay had to much authority for their age. 90% of the staff didnt look to be over the age of 13.3. when i called to get refunded the book keeper lady told me that she can only see 1 charg and that i have to take it up with my bank cause their was nothing she could do to refund me my 2nd charge. So i called my bank and my vank said i had to take care of it with avalanche bay first. So i did a 3 way calling with the person of my bank and the person at avalanche bay . And they both started fighting with each other over the phone with each other. Very unacceptable and professional. Then the woman at avalanche bay told me she can have another woman from accounting investigate the charge and i will get a call from her in a couple hours. And i did. She told me i was correct and she found the 2nd charge and ny money would ve refunded to the card. I still havent seen the change into my bank account. Now i am a man who lives pay check to pay check and we had to save up for this trip. Since my account got hit twice when i went to get gas in my car my card wouldnt work thats when i checked my account and found the charge. Now luckily i had 20 bucks in my wallet to use for gas and nothing bounced out of my checking account. But at the same time if i didnt have that 20 for gas i would have missed a day of work due to no gas. This is not right. So im sure it will not be in my account on tuesday and i will call avalanche bay accounting and im sure the lady will tell me its going to take 5-7 buisness days to go back into my account pending on my bank and the Holliday weekend and so on and so forth bka bla bla........ still isnt right to put people threw this situation..... but hey just saying sorry will comfort the situation and both you and i can sleep at night knowing i can still pay my rent on a im sorry . Bottom line. If you go to avalanche bay, bring cash!
Ridiculous. Check in is 5pm, waterpark closes at 9pm. Following morning we learn we must purchase a new wristband for waterpark entry. Resort has poor customer service, were out of maps for the hotel, no continental breakfast, broken elevators....save your time and money. Stay elsewhere.
This place touts as being the largest water park in Michigan. I feel this is not true as Zhenders in Frankenmuth is larger. Avalanche Bay is very dated and was not very fun. The water was a little colder than most water parks we have been to. They also had a very strict rule for their lazy river where you have to be in an inner tube. 5his is the only place that we have been to with this rule. We will not be coming back to this park.
We checked in at 5pm. We just paid online 2 mins prior for a full day before walking in. Not realizingwe accidentally paid for a full day instead of a half day. wouldve been $20 cheaper for a half day. Because it was $20 cheaper to pay for $4pm-close and we got there at 5pm and accidentally paid for a full daySo we were like hey, we just checked out online and accidentally checked out for a full day instead of a half day. There was no point in paying for a full day when we get there at 5pm anyways and you guys have it $20 cheaper to pay for a half day (4p-close)They told us. Sorry nothing we can do. Wow really? Some customer serviceJust because of this incident we wont be going back and you wont get good recommendations. How unprofessional. Businesses succeed by word of mouth. But this mouth has nothing good to say about this business.Dont come here, they will find ways to rip you off.
***customer service review only***Trying to get a straight answer out of reservations and the reservation manager is like talking to wall. They may have been there for 5yrs but its because it took them that long to answer a simple question... how do I buy a stay as a gift for someone...Short awnser a gift card from boyne country sports...They had to put me on hold and ask a million questions twice with a spin to sell some outrageous package....Dont call in the evening only call during the day.
Fun waterpark to spend the day at with family! There are multiple waterslides and pools here for everyone to enjoy. On a snowy winter day at Boyne mountain, its enjoyable to spend the day swimming in a waterpark. This isnt as big as a lot of waterparks, but definitely still fun! There is also a nice arcade attached to the waterpark with lots of games! The park is located right on Boyne next to the shops and restaraunts.
Very overpriced! Horrible decor rooms are outdated, shower in our room was dirty, people we booked with lied about where our room would be when we arrived we were in a building not attached to the waterpark like we were told on the phone that we would have then they charged us to transfer rooms when we checked out after being told it would be the same price at check in!!! Horrible will never return!!!
I just called the helpline and was transferred to the front desk to see if my avalanche bay gift card could be used anywhere else like at the spa because my S/O is deathly afraid of water and the lady on the line said it should be in the fine print on the back and it sounded like she was laughing at me especially after I said I saw the print but just wanted to confrim and maybe even see if there was anything else I could do with it but I got so embarrassed when she laughed I didnt even bother to ask..

2022-01-14Everyone was friendly and helpful. Midweek wasnt the least crowded and the price wasnt extravagant either. Great section for smaller kids, with fountains and shallow pools to splash in. Lots for the big kids too. Four bigger slides, the surfing wave and a nice arcade.

2022-04-06Where do I start! If youre like me and research everything and the tickets are still in your cart, CHECK OUT NOW! Lol its worth every penny! We went from noon till 8pm and we had fun the entire time! We didnt even make it to the arcade! I lost my glasses in the lazy River and when I tell you the staff went diving! They put on a 3 hour search and found them for me! I was so grateful I can not begin to tell yall! Ther was a bottomless bucket of towels! Never a wait for rest rooms. The Bar,,,,Rides,,,and snack shacks were busy. But when I tell you the staff had the lines going! We waited no more than 10min for anything! I will be back a few times this year! Jacuzzi, kiddie pools, we found seating right away. Do not listen to the negative reviews. This water park is exactly what it should be! WET...BUSY...SPLASHY FUN AND WORTH EVERY DOLLAR🤸🏾♀️

2021-12-15Loved this place, it was so fun!Only reason i didnt give 5 stars is bc they really need to make the kiddie pool a little more inclusive to learning walkers.. and not only have 1 big slide with 3 mini water fountains. And bc this place needs WAY MORE seating. Considering how busy this place was (bc theyre only open 3 days a week) and how pricey the tickets are there should be guaranteed seating for at least 2 ppl per party of 5.

2021-12-31Prices stated on the website are $10 more per person, every inch of the place is a rip off from $26 dollar pizza to $6-10 for a locker. Stay away from this milking operation, folks. Complete disregard for safety by barely teenage staff.

2022-06-26Great time for all!!! They have an area for little kids that dont want to or arent ready for deeper water. Like a splash park with all kinds of stuff to play on. They have five large and really fast slides, two medium sized slides and one small slide. They have a pool with basketball nets. A couple other things to play on in the pool as well. Theres one of those simulated waves you can surf on. A good sized arcade. A snack bar that sells adult beverages.

2022-03-14Nice for the kids. was there for three days... pretty frustrated on Sat. People came in to AB not at staying at the resort which is fine of course but the didnt use the locker rooms so coats, boots, etc were piled all over the chairs. there were rows of chairs that no one could use because the were being used for people to store their stuff rather than the lockers. I couldnt sit down anywhere but I saw 50 60 chairs that were loaded with winter clothes.

2021-07-07Very nice size water park for all ages, not much seating room around, but not much need for sitting. Food options are limited. Lifeguards are all over, tons of towels on site and family restroom areas with showers.

2022-04-02Not good service, it was way over crowded and the lines were ridiculous. They had people waiting outside in the cold for the waterpark and the inside was like a tuna can, everyone is jammed together. The pricing is outrageous for food which wasnt even that good. Parking was nice but the fact that theres people everywhere because of the stupid lines makes it hard to find a spot. I wish I could give it a good review because I came here as a kid but its obviously changed. Unfortunately I have to give it this review, I feel like it just caters to kids more than older people. Oh well. The skiing hill looks awesome though.

2022-04-02Water park is nice for families and attractions are geared for different ages. However they neglected to mention when booking the last day of spring break is the busiest day of the year. One of the lifeguards said they generally average 250-300 guests a day, at the time of inquiry they were above 1500. No tubes, no seating. Average time for waiting for one slide was an hour. So as long as you don’t come that day it should be fine.
