Comment: I needed to extend my rental vehicle so, I called the Fremont, CA location (5307 Central). I started calling at 8:03am. I called for the next 35 minutes, multiple times, and nobody answered.I pulled up to the location and, because I could see from outside that NOBODY (customers) were inside, I decided to call from the rental car (outside the building). I called, and the lady did NOT answer.I get out to ask her why the phone wasnt being answered and lead with I watched you ignore the phone call from outside, and since Ive been calling since 8:03am, im wondering why you wouldnt provide some customer service by way of simply answering the phone, and she said because I didnt. What do you need?Had I not been in TOTAL need of the vehicle, I would have cancelled. Folks should realize, especially this woman (large build, older woman with fair skin. Dark hair, pulled back in a ponytail. Providing a description in case it helps. This happened on 1/3/24, at 9:00am), that the customers are why they are in business and have a job. A LITTLE customer service goes a LONG way.It literally took her 2 mins to extend my rental. It could have saved me a 15 minute drive and gas had she SIMPLY ANSWERED THE PHONE. RIDICULOUS (i also have a video if Corporate needs to see)

Comment: Good my car from Hertz. Tried to force me to get an electric vehicle by saying that they have no gas powered cars. I insisted that I booked a gasoline car weeks in advance, so they relented and gave me a very nice Chevy Malibu. The car was really good! Very comfortable. I do agree with the sales person though, my next rental will most likely be an electric one.Return was painless. Quick.

Comment: Opened late. Service was great. The vehicle we got was dirty, had a bad vibration in the front end, and was the noisiest vehicle I have ever been in. Definitely stay away from the Chevy Malibu as it’s a trash vehicle.

This review is about a month late, but they deserve it.I remember walking in here to rent a car and was lucky to get a brand new Nissan with only a few hundred miles off the lot. It was my first time renting from Avis out of state from a non-airport location so they told me I had to return the car by 5pm which is when they close. Being a New Yorker, I thought traffic in my city was bad. But I never thought Id find my nemesis because SF TRAFFIC IS MUCH WORSE. My flight out was the same evening and I had no way to return back to this Avis location by the same day. Thankfully, they allowed me to return the vehicle to Avis San Jose Airport for a fee instead of charging me another day (as I would have no way to look over the car for another day) as a destination charge fee. The Avis team in Fremont is very knowledgeable and adaptive. I cant recommend them enough

Comment: I booked through another website. Chose Fremont, CA and I was redirected here. The drop-off and pick-up were uneventful which is good. Tao was helpful. The only drawback I found was this place doesnt have off-hours drop-off. I chose a different agency once even though it was far from my place for this reason. This time I didnt have any issue dropping off during agency working hours. On a milder note, the exterior was not well-washed. Lots of bugs residue on the windshield. But interior was very clean, so I didnt mind the exterior much. But I would have loved a shiny and clean front-glass.

Comment: I had the most terrible experience ever with AVIS FREMONT car rental location.My friend booked a car from here for her driving test. We read online that if she had international license and if she took complete insurance, she can use car for practice and give her driving test on it. But never did we imagine that they would give away a car with expired registration. Trusting the rental car company and the big name AVIS is, we made a mistake to trust them and not verify all the documents. Fortunately we were just driving the car in residential areas so we did not get any tickets but when we took car to dmv to give test, they obviously did not allow her to use the expired registration car. When we went back to AVIS to confront them about this, we saw 3 other unregistered and expired car. Because of this situation we missed our road test slot and got an appointment after 2 months.AVIS FREMONT does not take any responsibility for this and say it was our fault that we took car with expired registration.We are going to take this case forward with Avis customer service or go legally and see if they can provide any help with this.I have attached a couple of pictures of the car which this rental owns and the expired sticker on their number plate. These pictures were taken in Oct 2022.

Comment: The staff at the location were actually quite professional and friendly.However, make sure to read the receipt twice before signing. The AVIS website showed me a 0$ fees for changing my rental return location from SJC airport to this location, but I see a 45$ charge on my final receipt anyway. In a lengthy call, I was told by an AVIS staff that this is charged by the rental return location. And I just can’t find a way to reach the location by calling the number listed on google.

Car was good but it was stinking of smoke even though it was mentioned as a non smoking fleet. If this alone is taken care, it would be all good. Overall a good experience!!

To our surprise none of the vehicles have Android auto or car play. If you are looking for sophisticated vehicle I suggest to go to another location

Comment: Made a reservation on monday for an economy car on saturday at noon. I get there at noon and all they have is a Jeep Wrangler with the 2L turbo. They didnt charge more for the Wrangler but used 2x more on fuel than an economy car. I guess with current fuel prices you cant expect to get what you make a reservation for. Other than that it was fine.

Comment: ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER: Rented car to drive for uber- the car was not even clean. I detailed it before starting to drive. I ended up getting a flat a week later corporate stated I would get a refund for a tire if i purchased, the store stated no. They do not do such a thing. I also asked how renewal worked they stated it was automatic and I can have it for 2 months. Great! However it did not work that way 5 weeks later I was getting a robo call stating I had to return the car to avoid further action. I called the guy said I was fine. Next day I didnt feel safe driving due to a front suspension noise. I had the car towed to the location.I asked how much to fill up since I couldnt drive it to get filled from half tank. He saud $40. That car doesnt take 40 to fill from half. I told him 20 he complied and agreed to it. I closed out my bill I was going to be charged 395. Week plus 4 days which was fine up until they screwed up billing. They took out the 150 that day then the next processed for the full 395. Bad billing practices will end up getting in trouble if not done correctly. Also I contacted him and he said I would have to contact my bank to get it fixed. I will not be doing business with this location in the future.

I reached late and they could not find my reservation.They rented me a car it was 12.30 at night and when I drove on the road the car wheel light came on. As a female on a dark lonely road it was scary to drive the car, I did not want to go to a.gas.station or stop in an unknown area. When I reached the hotel and called the business card given to me by the location I got a central reservation number.

Comment: Compared to the other renting agencies like Enterprise the rates were quite economical, so do the cars too. But that was not a problem to us when we rented as we were already looking for good, cheaper options. However, the service and staff was not that professional and top class line enterprise. Due to the affordable rates that usually the tourists primary choice I would still be availing their services in the future too.

Negative star is what they earned.Their associates are so ill trained in customer service, simple etiquette and manners its unacceptable. I am very disappointed and unsatisfied by the service I received by the associate Gram.I recommend to future customers to definitely avoid this location. The owner Tony Nguyen seriously needs to revamp his location or risk losing further business. The building is dirty and not kept, cars are rented filthy and the employees appear to be there against their will.I contacted Avis corporate office to file a formal complaint.

Comment: Ive never reviewed any place before but I felt compelled to tell anyone listening to avoid this place if you can. I felt like I was transported into the 60s and the employees were trying their hardest to avoid eye contact and when they did it was to give me an expression of what the hell do you want. Dont have anything against Avis, but you should probably avoid this place unless youre smart enough to figure out a way to get them to pay you to rent a car.
