Comment: We have been waiting for an hour and a half for this budget location to open. The door says they are supposed to open at 9am and it’s been impossible to get more information on when someone will come to open the building. There are 5 groups of people with reservations who have been waiting and calling. This is a HUGE inconvenience and is causing major problems in our travel plans. I do NOT recommend using this Avis/Budget location. Even if you have a confirmed reservation (as we do), you may not get your car because they just won’t open the building.

Comment: Rented a car from Cresent City,Ca. to Merced, CA. P/u car Friday and on Saturday I called in to see where to deliver the car because I got home early from my trip. The Avis person I spoke to (since it was already 2:40 pm and I was about 45 minutes away) said the Avis would be closed and would be open for me to deliver the car tomorrow from 9 to 3 Sunday, Not mentioning I could have used a drop box that was there. Instead, they said I could return it Sunday from 9 to 3. They PURPOSELY gave me false information or neglected to give me proper information so that I was charged for another day. I had all morning to deliver it and could have had I not been misled . And/or been given misleading information. Pitiful excuse for a rental company.

Comment: I rented a car for five days. Returning over Tioga Pass, there was an obscene amount of construction, and it took 1.5 more hours to get back to Merced than Google indicated. I was 15 minutes late returning the car (1:45 pm instead of 1:30 pm) and these guys charged me $55 because of this.Maybe shop around, if you’re able.

Comment: DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!They will scam you from your money over things they do not properly explain to you.Rented a car for 1 day got told to bring it back before 3pm the next day. The car was brought back 2 hours before that and still charged for 2days! Only to find out their business hours on the door for that day say open until 2pm. Imagine I wouldve waited a little bit longer I would have gotten charged for an other extra day.I went to talk to them and try to resolve the issue and they say well its on the paperwork. We have you initial everything so you are aware. OUR PAPERWORK WAS NEVER INITIALED!Horrible customer service!

Comment: Do not use Avis Merced!It took about 40 minutes to get our car, because some computers were down and the printer did not work. As we get the car, we were told to return the car with a fuel level AS it is now. It was little below 3/4.Only after asking the staff, they rescheduled the return time in correspondence to the delay. I think they also charged us on that.When we returned the car our case was switched between two staff. Nobody really talked to us. After some time they handed us just a paper with some numbers I should sign. No one explained anything of them. We found that they charged us with 67$ because we brought the car at 3/4.They explained that there is a rule, we were not told, that it should be always higher than before. So we got a car that was marked 3/4 so we should return it with more than 3/4, so that the needle does not mark the 3/4 sign.It sounds like they tricked us!So we had to pay 67 bugs for one gallon or so. Thanks AVIS!The thing that bothers most, it that they do not communicate such things. It also seems that there work some interns that do not know the stuff either and therefore do not tell the customers.Ok, lessons learned. Do not use it!

Comment: My company made a reservation with AVIS at the Sacramento Airport. Firstly, it took 45 mins to get into my rental. Secondly, the car had something wrong with it and became unsafe to drive. Not one representative knew what to do about exchanging my rental for another one. So, I went to a near by local AVIS and was very lucky they had a car for me to exchange. Please think twice about renting a car at AVIS in Sacramento Airport.

Didnt even bother refunding my money.Worst experience ever and definitely Worst customer service.Worst attitude. No accountability whatsoever..stay away from those people.

Comment: My last experience at this location was very pleasant. I am glad that they have new management. I returned the vehicle to their location that I had rented at another one. They are very professional and did not waste a bunch of time. I had a bad experience last year at that location (which was remedied by corporate. I was apprehensive to rent another car from that location but with the new management they apparently have improved. Common courtesy goes a long way. Thanks.

It could have been a little cleaner because there was some pet hair or some hairs from something in the vehicle and a few spots may have been quickly glossed over like the dusty vents on the dash where the defogger vents were. I would rent a car from here again.

Comment: Terrible services at this location, I honestly never leave a review but this was so terrible I felt I had to let others know. While sitting in the office 3 out of 4 customers also came in with some type of issue of service or vehicle. Also charges 9$ per gallon if not filled up.Rude employees if you ask anything more than a couple questions and most likely greeting with Im just an employee which came from the manager when asked what could be done to resolve the issue of the rental car they gave me which had 2 puncture holes in one of the tires as well as expired tags and every vehicle has some issue in their lot, but they State all vehicles are up to date and seriously regularly which is either a lie or lazy inspections. Avoid at all costs.

Comment: There are some great things about this place, including prices that are really nice, and good availability considering that this was the only car rental place open in Merced during New Years Eve. However there is one major point where this place falls short, and thats in its reliance on credit to actually rent a car.My experience trying to rent from here was an easy online reservation process, wherein price of the rental was agreed upon, as well as the model of vehicle and time for which I would be renting (you can choose when to pick it up and when to drop it off using a dropdown menu). It was very easy to lock in all the details and arrange for copies to be sent to my email.Prices were actually very agreeable for the basic rentals. $41 to $52 (depending on the chosen vehicle) to rent for a day, and full coverage could be had for an additional $33. Any additional fees (taxes) were presented very clearly before checkout, so no surprises.Customer service was actually pretty decent as well. It wasnt stellar by any means, but it was okay for a budget car rental agency. There was a hiccup when I made my reservation in that they did not have any vehicles which matched my reservation, but they did call me and let me know that they would lend me another kind of vehicle (an upgrade in my opinion) for the same price, so they did work to make right their mistakes.The only real complaint I have about this place is that they require one of two things to actually rent: a great credit score paired with a debit card, or else a credit card. If youre young and just getting started on credit, this place will not be an option for renting a vehicle. However, if youre an older person with good credit, this place would be okay to rent from if you need a vehicle on holidays.

Comment: When I tried to return the rental at this location the door was locked and nobody was around. There was no note on the door. I walked around the side and back still could not find anyone. Finally I called the number on the renatal agreement and the employee answered, I guess on a cell phone, and said he was on his way back from dropping a customer off at the airport and would be back in a few minutes. I waited another 10 minutes or so when he finally showed up driving a Budget moving truck. If your in a hurry dont rent from here!

Comment: I have rented from this place 5 times in the last 8 months and the last 3 times were a nightmare, I continued to use them thinking it was just that time that was bad. They have no regard for the reservation that you make and give you what ever they want. They are rude and never smile and its not just one of them its all of them. Ive dealt with all of them and will not go back. Enterprise is now the place I will use. Ive reported them to corporate also.
