Ask anything you need and the customer service staff will assist you. I had to wait for them to get some stoppers, because they had to get them from the side warehouse but other than that the experience was fantastic. Their beer? Amazing as always.
Beer here is always awesome and I love coming once a month just to check out what’s new. My favorite is the wings. They do a good job with all flavors and their ranch is A+. Pairs great with an inspirationally brewed beer. Incessant is bomb.
Great store but no parking. Bought a shirt and was attacking the Pokemon Go gym and the guy working the counter told me I had to leave. I JUST SPENT TWENTY BUCKS YOU WONT LET ME SIT IN YOUR PARKING LOT FOR 10 MINUTES?!

Awesome service and awesome people, this is a case of where they have got it right. I took up Home Brewing last year and Bells General Store supply all the materials I needed, they also helped me out no end with advice, service and support so rather than using the internet I always go back to this store. Their prices are competitive, in some cases even cheaper than other places as well as the internet and the service is never bad, the people are always willing to take the time and really help you out. Not to mention the wide range of other products they sell, Beer of course, and Bells Branded products. Its great to see how not all places have lost what Customer Service is all about!
Very impressed by the beer selection but also was treated very rudely by the cashier. They were not nice to us at all, but were friendly to other customers. Then when I checked out, the cashier bent and inspected my ID like he thought it was a fake. I do not look that young anymore. No need to treat your guests like they’re criminals.

Food was beyond delicious (BBQ pork with the German potato salad) and the beer was outstanding. Great place to grab some good food and craft beer.
One the staples of Kalamazoo, Bells makes wonderful beverages that range from classic to super weird. They give their employees the freedom to create and share those creations with all of us, and that is truly amazing.You can order online for pickup, or wander in and browse the tasty selection. Staff is always friendly and super helpful.

We had a group of 6 excited to visit Bells during our stay in Kalamazoo. We were treated so abrasively during the instructions on how to enter, order and where to sit. I understand covid has changed everything but there is absolutely no reason to be rude to customers. Ruined the entire experience.I was so rushed to order my beer I didn’t even have time to see what was available.

Absolutely incredible customer service. I placed an order on a Thursday, and it arrived by Saturday (we happened to be celebrating Christmas on that Sunday!!). Almost as soon as the order was placed, I received confirmation that it was processed and getting ready to ship! The items are of high quality and arrived in perfect shape. I will definitely be working with this company again as my husband starts to fill up the walls of his at home bar!
Purchased a bottling bucket with a hole too small for the spigots (mine and theirs.) Took it back and got a no-hole bucket in exchange. Staff were reasonable and this was a Saturday night. Not every homebrewing item is cheaper than online sources but enough are, so that if you buy everything you need here, you will not get a bad deal. They are friendly, and even the lesser-experienced crew members have never made me regret buying there.(Ive been there at least two dozen times.)
The restaurant that is just around the corner is very good and has a large amount of beers/ ciders to choose from. The store itself is nice and small, great deals for bells merchandise. We got a gift set that came with 2 pint glasses, a t shirt, a tin sign and a bottle opener for only $35.
Everything you need for brewing. Expert brewers on hand to help you with anything you need. Brew kits available for cheaper than on the internet and a whole lot better, with no shipping! Liquid yeasts and exotic hops available in their walk in. Every Bells beer imaginable to take home. And, go around the corner and get the freshest Bells draft you can get along with great food and atmosphere! If you are a brewer withing driving distance you have to visit Bells General store.
This store is awesome, especially if youre brewing or winemaking, the supplies here are actually well priced and the swag is amazing!
Pretty crazy when theyre swamped. Otherwise, the staff are cool and helpful. Can find most, if not everything you need to set up your own bottling operation, which I think is pretty neat. Nowadays they carry unique beer so go check it out.

If your a home brewer in the Kalamazoo area this is the place you need to be. They have a great selection of malts, hops, equipment, and yeast. You need something they most likely have it. The staff here also brew and any question I’ve ever had they know the answer. If just drinking beer is more your thing, they sell a good selection of their beer from singles, to 6 packs and a couple of cases. They also have various clothing items and other accessories for a bar.
Seems to me the whole Bells brewery is about quality. Store was neat and staff was friendly. They even a special machine to fill the cool looking growlers so the beer stays fresh longer and tastes better. True professional brewers in my mind.
They’re very keen on limiting the number of people inside which is great to allow social distancing. The best part is they didn’t have a beer on tap for a growler so they went next door to get it filled. They go above and beyond customer service wise!
Great help. I was looking for a ride for a mycology project I wanted to start. The guys there and myself got to learn all about ride that day. I look forward to bringing back some fruits of my labor hours to share with these guys. I would recommend the store for all your Brewing needs.
Bells has by far the best brewery store around. It is not only stocked full of all sorts of Bells merchandise.. shirts, sweatshirts, glasses, 6-packs, sunglasses, stickers, etc.. but it is VERY reasonable compared to most brewery merchandise. They even have a clearance rack full of dirt cheap merchandise. I scored a zip up Bells hoodie there over a year ago for $15.. the staff is great and very helpful as well!
One of my favorite breweries.We travel from Nashville for Thanksgiving and I made a point to stop in.Prices were a little high, even for an upscale brewery. However, it was an awesome experience and the staff were super cool.
Ive been buying wine & beer brewing supplies or Bells gifts for quite some time.Recently found out my husband must go gluten-free and does that put a damper on drinking beer! Luckily, I came in and the guys were really helpful. One put together a recipe and got all the ingredients around for my husband to make. Its in the secondary now! Sure hope it turns out!We have a brewery supply store closer to home but your prices are better and the staff just seems more knowledgeable about brewing.
Great spot youll find all of Bells beers , beer kits, unique growlers and a slew of other unique Bell themed items. If u dont know what you like the bar is right next door. Run in and try a few before you buy a case.
Bells is and always has been so great! We purchased some great diversity water bottles and coozies today and I bought the most comfortable sweatshirt Ive ever worn!
After initially giving Bells a 3-star rating with no explanation, the owner reached out to me and asked me to elaborate, so that they may improve their customer experiences. As a result, I did explain my 3-star rating and promised to edit my review. Therefore, I raised my review to 4-stars, and felt I would provide my response, in part, to the owner: I must compliment you on providing my husband with some basics he had been looking for, but unable to find elsewhere, at least not at a decent price. he found the floating thermometer and air locks. thank you for providing supplies for the at-home brewer in stock, at reasonable prices. it was a nice surprise to find on a visit to Kalamazoo . We had not come looking for such supplies, but was pleased to see such availability. I would have liked to have found a more nominally priced souvenir of your brewery to take home to display in our brewing room, perhaps a comical sign with your logo, keychain, drinking glasses denoting Bells Brewery, etc.... Your store was extremely busy during our visit and staff was stretched thin, assisting customers. This was an unexpected visit to your store, so we didnt have any expectation for any personal service. believe me, being in retail myself, I know that these situations can be out of your control. Thank you for being a responsible business owner, willing to learn and improve customer satisfaction. I will spread the word!

Phenomenal customer service. They recently had a move, so a couple products werent available when I placed my order. They called me promptly to inform me and offered a reimbursement or replacement. They were super helpful to find substitutes for my products even if it meant an upgrade of sorts on their end, so they really satisfied my brewing ingredient desires. I am definitely ordering from them again.
What a great bar! Any time in back in Kalamazoo, Im headed to Bells. Great tour, good bar food and, excellent beer! Its also important to know that Bells allows this facility to experiment on new beers that, one day, could be on store shelves. Or not.Highly recommended.
Visited here not long ago. Great set up for singles, dates and even families. The enclosed back grassy park like area in back is perfect to let children run around while parents can simultaneously regain some sanity as adults-oh and drink beer... Food was great, service great, will be back again soon.You do have to go up to the bar to order, grab a remote, it beeps when your food is ready. A bit more self service but I have no issues with this at all. Also has amazing art and sculptures inside as well.
Doing a fantastic job keeping everyone safe. Fantastic beers. Picked up Hopsolution which is quickly becoming my favorite amd3a few dog toys for the road. Always a must stop in Michigan.
This doesnt have the feel of a general store, more that of a campus bookstore, but thats okay. There were lots of tees and sweatshirts for sale, some loose teas. Beer aplenty, including a walk-in cooler. Guests can put together their own six pack or purchase pre-packaged six packs or cases or growlers. Many knick knacks for sale, including bottle openers (the one pictured here was $2).
The only place that I will buy my home brew supplies. The store could use some better directions on the process that they want you to use to buy grains. They got frustrated with me that I did it wrong and I politely asked if they had posted the instructions anywhere (answer was no). I still love the place and I will buy most of my supplies there.
I think this is a great brewery it has the BEST grilled hot dogs and the different ales they have go down smoothly and have little if no after taste which is always a plus. I think they have a great selection of bands that come in, although a few are a hit and a miss. This place gets really busy in the evenings. I like this place alot, a great place to stop in and get food. One strange thing (Im from California) I had to ordered and pay for my food separately from my beer, which was odd but not a big problem (it allowed me to mingle with the locals at the bar).
A truly splendid place. The general store (just around the corner) currently has 15 Third Coast Old Ale in six packs along with 15 Expo. The pub yields an ever rotating draft selection that is brewed in a variety of different styles. Best low abv sour in house is LAppel du vide, when available, in my opinion. Definitely try the deviled eggs for lunch, with the barrel aged fermented hot sauce (also sold at the general store). My girlfriend prefers the Bells Burger but im tellin ya, the Cajun roll is what you want.
The inside of this bar is beautiful. I loved the beer menu on the wall. I had the Cherry Stout that night. Very good! We all had a good time just kicking back and relaxing. Definitely would like to come back next time Im in town.
Different varieties of beer 4 The Taste on your palate they also have pretty damn good food as well. I usually go there to fill up my Growler which is two and a half quarts but you have to go in the store part
We went for the brewery tour, had a couple beers in the eccentric cafe, and finally picked up a homebrewing kit in the general store. The staff is always super friendly, and the general store staff was highly knowledgeable and ready to answer all our questions.
Bells general store has everything you need for your brew day! Good hop selection, better malt selection, and all the equipment you need for your homebrew. You can choose from a selection of recently released beer or fill your growler with beer released only at the Eccentric Cafe (i.e. pineapple jalapeño Oberon). The general store also carries Bells clothing, posters, bumper stickers, and other merch. The staff is friendly and helpful, and will even give you tips for home brewing if you need it. They are very knowledgeable and give great advice on whatever beer youre creating!
Its great that double two-hearted ale is now in wide supply for the time being but you can get a case for $15 less at Costco. I dont think thats a great way to treat your fans.

I ordered a t-shirt and hat and Im very impressed with how well the products were packaged and delivered. The Shirt is high quality and fits to the advertised size and the hat is same as advertised!
Great shop with helpful staff. Plenty of beer, Bells gear & home brew equipment.Just a warning, the growler station only works with Bells growlers, not the standard kind.
After sampling the beers in the cafe, I stepped into the store to buy some to take home. I particularly appreciated that I could mix and match my own 6 pack. Worth the stop in if you can transport your brews home!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, free advice, bulk malts available as well as all kinds of home brewing supplies & Equipment available at good prices. Parking lot is small, but convenient to get into and out of, if space is available
Extremely disappointed in the customer service. My husband looked over the website before we drove there to be sure they had what he wanted and the pricing. Once we go there and could not find a few items we asked for assistance. We told the gentleman that their web site had it and he responded with Do you believe everything you see on the internet? That immediately put us on the defense since it was not said with a smile or a laugh. Their entire staff was too busy folding shirts on the counter top. We would try and put our items up on the counter but the staff kept moving them to fold the shirts. We had to keep chasing the employees down to ask where things were and why the pricing did not match what was on the web site. Finally, we located everything we needed and paid. If you want a t-shirt or Bells merchandise this is the store for you. If you brew beer or wine place your orders with ADVENTURES IN HOMEBREWING. The staff at these stores are interested in brewing beer and will actually talk to you and answer any questions you may have. Dont waste your time with Bells!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Bells swag and homebrew shop.Nice selection of Grain or extract brew kits for e.g. Oberon, Two Hearted, and Hopslam plus additional homebrew supplies. Shirts, towels, glasses, signs, dog collars, tap handles, beer, plenty of variety but only few shirts were still available in larger sizes. Without the homebrew, I would drop down to a 3 star rating.I am not only stingy but I like usable swag. I am willing to pay a bit for high quality items that are co-branded.
Being new to home brew we had no idea where to start. The staff were very helpful and made sure we left with everything we would need to start. With our first batch we called with questions on three different occasions. One of these occasions was concerning equipment that was not working correctly. They attempted to help over the phone but, it came to the point where we needed to take our bottle capper in. They quickly realized it was faulty and provided us with a new one. They even took the time to make sure it worked correctly before we left the store. Because this staff is so willing to help their customers we go there on a regular bases. We even started making cheese because of them.
Food is always great, burgers are cooked well to order and the menu includes a variety of items. Jambalaya is my personal favorite. Of course beer selection is phenomenal.
Bells is one of the best things to come out of Kalamazoo and of course the general store has all the supplies to start your own microbrew. Step around and enjoy the beer garden, live shows and the best staff you could ask for.

Best home brew shop in SW Michigan. They may be small, but the have all you need. And its Bells so you can buy beer by the 6 or growler.
Very nice quaint location with an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I dont get out to the Kalamazoo area often, but when Im here again, I can guarantee that Ill be stopping by again. Highly recommended.

Ive been drinking Bells beer for years, theres no doubt its some of the best Michigan has to offer, but my first visit to the taproom was not pleasant. First off, the second we walked in the door everyone was staring at us and looking us up and down. This place is FLOODED with hipsters and very pretentious people that stare at you like theyve never seen another human being before. What made it worse is that we sat at a table for almost 10 minutes before a waitress came over and informed us that they dont serve customers, that we had to go get it from the bar ourselves. The beer is awesome and I love their quality, but I will never come here again. If you want a quality taproom with top notch beer and FRIENDLY people, go to Dark Horse in Marshall. I would rather sit at home and drink Bells than ever step foot here again. This taproom sucks.

The restaurant has a fun atmosphere, great food, and a huge selection of awesome Bells beers (many of which you can only get there) while the general store is well stocked with lots of cool Bells gear and plenty of their beers, cold and ready to drink.
Like about 30 percent of my clothes since I turned 21 have come from here. Also they have very reasonably priced brewing stuff and everything is good.

The first thing that struck me was how cheap everything was. I got a glass for my beer for under $5 which I expected would be $10. Great selection from a great brewery.

This place was packed on the day of my visit, they are liquidating branded merchandise that has outdated logos. For once I thought everything was priced reasonably. My biggest gripe is paying more for a product directly from the source than from a retailer.
So dangerous for me as I buy too much of everything whenever I go here. Decent selection of current beers kept cold, or sold single, and the merchandise is really fun.

My history goes back to 1985 when Bells opened. The place has gone from an abondoned wharehouse to a palace. This is by far the best in the area.

The only bad thing about the general store is that they only ever have 4 different kinds of beer to fill growlers with. You cant get the growler filled in the taproom.
Beautiful interior and both amazing food and beer. My favorite brew is on tap here (Expedition Stout) and they make one heck of a Rueben.
Tourist trap. Counter guys wouldnot fill stainless steel growler. Insisted on $18.00 Bells glass growler so they can see into it when pouring.

2022-08-01New owners seem to be cutting back on home brewing supplies. The yeast selection is becoming limited, additive items are fewer than in the past, etc. It appears theres more money in t-shirts as that now occupies some of the space previously dedicated to home brewing. An employee did tell me they could order me basically anything I need. I can do that myself from home and a truck drops it in my driveway a few days later. No real reason to buy from Bells if that is the case. Its a shame that the new owners bought a very successful company with a great reputation and still think they need to change things. The bottom line is that they appear to be only interested in the bottom line.

2022-07-19Just found out Bells is scaling back on the home brewing supplies that will be available online. Only select kits will be available. Currently you cant get caps, cleaners and brewing equipment to brew them at the online store. Im saddened because I have always been able to order online then pick the order up or have it shipped to me. Part of what people told me would happen after Bells sold. Another one bites the dust...

2018-07-14The place is actually very nice, I love the industrial loft style of the building, very high ceilings with the pipes showing and equally huge windows. The chairs are confortable and it has some nice wooden tables; we were sat in the back where it was much quietest than the rest of the area. The onion rings we ordered were so greasy (see picture) we took them home, our son will eat them. I ordered a sparkling rosé it came in a big goblet but it smelled so strongly of detergent that I didnt even take a sip, I asked my husband to smell it and even he found the smell very strong so, I sent it back. The charcuterie board was very good, it had this great very fresh honey yummy. I will not return though.

2017-07-28This is one of the better priced gift shops at a brewery there is. Way more shirts than you could ever want. 6 packs, cases and singles of their bottled and canned beers. A mediocre selection of glassware, but even these are priced well.

2021-05-27Of course youd expect to find a place at Bells where you can pick up some swag or some beer to go...and youd be right, this is that place! But they also offer some limited run beers that you can only get in Kzoo AND a great selection of home brewing equipment. How cool is it that a legendary local brewer also supports the brewing community in town?

2021-10-19We were in the store today. My husband has bought his supplies many times at this store and none of the employees have ever been very helpful but today was the all time laziness of employees ever, even after asking for assistance. I understand it is difficult to get good help since covid, but to have employees that sit at the register and don’t acknowledge customers or offer assistance, especially when asked by the customer, is ridiculous. We will take our business to Grand Rapids from now on.
