Hashbrowns were mashed in the middle and burnt on the outside along with veggies. My steak was overcooked and dry. The steak they replaced it with had no flavor. And the wait time was extra long with few people inside. I felt like paying for the food and leaving it on the table and driving to McDonalds.
Customer service is the worse here. The waitress got my order wrong twice on the phone. After I cleared up her error, I went to pick up my order and it was still wrong. The manager came to assist and tried to tell me it was my fault his employee took my order wrong. He was trash and give off the impression that he only cared about money. I also witnessed another waitress steal tips from another Indian waitress who looked overworked and overwhelmed. Don’t eat here. They need new management asap bec the current one is the by far the worse interaction I’ve ever had with a business
Nice and clean inside got there earlier before they even opened up I got out and walked up to the door it was locked found out they didnt open up until 7:00 it was like 6:45 and they open the doors up for me and order breakfast breakfast was good to waitress was good very clean inside
Ordered eggs & corn beef hash. Eggs dry, no taste. Never had corn beef hash like the hash I was served. Toast cold. Received 2nd. cup of coffee after waiting & waiting. Had to wave to waitress to get her attention. Few customers. Not busy. poor service. Waited at register to pay. Left $3.00 tip. No thank you from waitress. First and last visit.
Had the pancakes for the gent and the lady ordered a gyro and extra Tzitki sauce, which Im glad I did because there was none on the sandwich. I think that may be a thing because the last one I ordered didnt have the Tzitki sauce either. Thats my tip: Order extra sauce to be sure to get any.Pancakes were light and fluffy and still warm when we opened the box at home. They do use Styrofoam to-go containers. But it is what it is.Nice inside, loads of booths by the windows. Has the olden days when you could slow down and enjoy the world go by. Which is literally what the view allows from their corner spot. Parking is tight, though.
Your basic coney island or local diner. The food isnt the healthiest unless you get a salad, but it sure is tasty. It is a great place to satisfy a late night food craving. The menu is surprisingly expansive and my salad was really fresh. The friend with whom I went also enjoyed his food.
If I could give 0 I would. Called in an order and was told 25 minutes. I got there about 1/2hr later and still had to wait another 45 minutes. The order was missing a few things and was’t even cooked all the way. On top of that the service was horrible and the food wasn’t good. How they won any awards is beyond me. I will never give them any of my money again. I’m going back to L George’s on Greenfield and 11mile.
They are compliant with covid guidelines. The food is good. Alot of people complained about the service. I want to make it clear that it take a little longer to get your order in and to recieve food. We have to be patient and understand that most restaurants are short staffed due to unemployment. Enjoy the company of those you are with and be patient. I enjoyed my daughters company while we waited for breakfast.
Walked in and waited for a bit. I was not even acknowledged. I almost walked out then a lady finally said they would be with me. Same lady talked about me to another worker in front of me because I was going to walk out. If I walk in and even waited for a bit while the workers just walked around and stared at me without saying anything then of course Im turning around to walk back out. Not a very friendly atmosphere.
I arrived there around 10:50pm, I sat at a table to be served and was told by a wait staff that there was only carry out after 11pm.🤔I didnt press the issue, I then order a stir fry and left.Made it home and pick out the string beans and ate the remainder of the stir fry.It was good,Why are string beans added to a stir fry? Some company needed to get rid a lot of string beans and decided to add them to a premade mix🤔
I went & ordered a corned beef skillet. When i got home, i opened my container to 6 big chunks of corned beef in the coner of my plate. I’ve ordered this item plenty of times in the past which is why i genuinely come to this location and it never looked like it did when i received it. I called the restaurant & politely asked if the recipe had changed because the quantity was just not right. I asked if i could come back for it to be remade. Once i returned, idk if it was the owner..but the guy took my fork..ran through my entire meal & said nothing was wrong with it. He then closed the lid & proceeded to hand it back. I was more disgusted than angry because he did it at the register nor did he have gloves on. I wont be returning to this location.
Friendly staff orders cooked too your desire I got the breakfast special I only eat my eggs over easy medium it was the better.than mine the whole breakfast was delicious .Thank you Berkley coney entire staff and a menu.mouth so mouth watering and clean and following guidelines too safe safe for employees and customers.Ill be back!
Worst ever! I have no clue why but this place used to be amazing one of my favorite places but they have gotten absolutely horrible!! What I can only explain as expired ranch served as fresh! And half frozen gyro meat and solid tatziki sauce served blows my mind! Dont waste your time or money!
Went in today 08/25/2020 ordered a Grilled Chicken Greek salad, started eating and probably 2-3 bites in I found a bug 🐜 in my food I will NEVER buy food from this place ever again. STAY AWAY!!!!! Then I believe the owner had the audacity to ask me if I wanted something else ummm NO after you just gave me food with bug(s) in it.
We walked in and were told to sit anywhere. After several minutes and a waitress walking by, two Caucasian women arrived and sat two seats from us. A man who appeared to be the owner approached with silverware and welcomed them. Ironically he was sitting at a booth across from us when we arrived.Next they were being asked what they wanted to drink. Still no one had come to our table. I spoke up, indicating we had been sitting there for six minutes. We were brought coffee by a very rude person who when asked if we could move to an empty booth was told, “I don’t care I don’t make the decisions”, this after telling the same ladies who were being waited on before us that “sure” they could move when they asked. We we told our waitress, the only nice person in there, to please cancel our order and chose to leave after that.Prior to seeing this restaurant on Fox 2 we knew nothing about you. After visiting because of Fox 2, We Won’t Ever Return!! Poor Service!!
If I could give them a lower rating I would. Every time I order from them my order is incorrect. I don’t live within the area and it’s a huge inconvenience to drive back there. When I speak with the manager, she NEVER apologize for her staff messing up my order. I am a breastfeeding mother with a very strict diet, as my daughter has acid reflux. When I order my foods certain way, it needs to be that way. I am very upset and recommend people going somewhere else.
The food here is truly better than many Coney island restaurants. The friend I go with alot craves this turkey pita sandwich (with mushrooms... so I dont care to try it). Their Greek dressing is NOT pink, which is a good thing in my opinion (who started making Greek dressing pink anyway??). The huge weak point with BC Coney (as their sign reads) is the interminably slow service. Ive gone a number of times and have been waited on by a number of waitresses and e-v-e-r-y one is just appallingly slow. You sit and wait. Finally order. And wait. And wait... Until your food comes. And if you ask for water -- you wait. and wait. Or if you ask for more coffee -- you j... u... s... t...... wait....I hope the clue in to the fact that the faster you turn a table: serve em and get them to pay, the happier the customers are, the bigger the tips, and the more meals they serve.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place! The food and service is always awesome. I found this place just driving around one random night and here it was. Got a chilli dog and it was slamming!Had breakfast with sausage gravy. Gravy was great! I cant wait to try a bunch of other items on the menu!
This is a local Coney where they remember your order. Have been here quite a few times and have never left hungry. Love their omlettes and gyros, depending on if I am ordering breakfast or lunch. Not really a Coney guy but the rest of the family loves them. Service is good and the food is hot and fast.
Power was out on 12 mile in Berkley around Coolidge Hwy. They were open, thankfully. My two year loved it, though my only complaint is that their bowl of fruit is canned fruit, however idk why I expected fresh fruit. They give you good sized serving size, definitely will need a doggy bag for the leftovers! Overall, friendly staff and delicious food.
Smelled like they were trying tp burn dpwn the restaurant when we got seated. They immediately took our drink orders but never came back after that. It continued to get smokey in there, they either do not have a exhaust fan or its broken. After about 15 minutes we left.
Sub par coney especially for being a coney island in the Detroit area. The dog was really chewy and very unappetizing. This is very greasy dive food. Thankfully it wasnt to expensive but I know of a few other places I can get similarly priced food of a higher quality. I dont think I will be returning to Berkley Coney any time soon.
Good food, but dirty behind the scene in grill area. Fast service if you like what looked like the owner, not wearing any gloves and putting the hotdogs on the grill with bare hands. Other cooks wearing gloves. Andrea Isom from channel 7 would have a field day on restaurant report card.
Today, I believe it was management/owner, I didnt have good customer service from him.I was greeted by him and asked if I wanted to place an order and I told him yes, and he directed me to a waitress to take my request, however when overhearing my request for a large coffee he decided to handle my order by asking me how many creams. I replied 3 creams and he then took 3 individual creams an opened them and placed in my coffee cup himself. I did not like that at all. Other times the waitresses would just give me the creams and Id do it myself.. He then asked what was the charge for a large coffee which puzzles me as to whether hes the owner or not but when told the cost he gave me the total. I pulled out my debit card as I do everytime I purchase coffee from them and in exchange he asked if I had any cash on me. I told him no and he stated they typically dont take a debit card if less than $5. I was getting ready to let him know that I didnt want the coffee until he cut my sentence off and said hed do it for me. Then why put me through the agitation?. Once the bill was printed for me to sign, I filled in the tip spot and total spot before signing but impatiently he said to me Sign the receipt. I looked at him as if he were being very rude because Id heard him the first time, but I clearly wanted to fill in the areas so that noone could put in any tips or totals without my knowledge. After today, I will never come back. The owner is rated a 2 for me today!!
Great neighborhood Coney Island! The service is always good and fast! Owner seems great too. They let me use their only outlet to work while I eat when I my power was out. Very chill atomosphere and standard coney menu. They have great breakfast special prices and theyre even included on Friday. This is also one of few 24 hour restaurant spots in the Berkley/Southfield area.
Never again And I repeat never again Who pays $60 For some Coney islands That was not good at all And overcooked And dry Kind of wish L Georges was open a little longer cause I showed what Ive been going to them . Like I said earlier never again I really wish I could give them a lower score score than one star Be where When you go to Berkeley Coney island .
Similar experience as the bad reviews. For as long as this restaurant has been open, you would think they would have it together by now. I ate in with my husband and the omelette that I ordered was cold, so I told the waitress. She picked it up, with an attitude, and came back with it piping hot out of the microwave. No apology? No smile? NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! And thats why you got no tip!
Talk about terrible customer service... This is the first time that Ive had a wrong order and nobody felt it necessary to at least apologize for their mistake. I had to come back 5 miles for my replacement order without so much as an apology. I asked the manager if there would be compensation for the gas it took to come back and I was told Thats not what we do here. Well then at least let me keep the wrong order and feed it to my dog... but they felt it necessary to throw it away. I wish I wouldve never spent my money here because the way they treat customers (especially with such large orders as I had) is disgusting... almost as disgusting as the food...at least say Im sorry people. Its not that hard!
My one and only coney joint. I made that post of 5 stars 4 years ago.Today MIKAYA (sp?) took it down to 2. She decided to argue with me and hang up on me when I called back to say my over easy eggs were sunny side up and the corned beef hash wasnt done. She said it was becuz the order sat so long. WHAT??? I ordered at 11:17, was told itd be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at 11:37. I was cashed out at 11:42. Still have the receipt. I live 1.6 miles away. I called back and spoke to LUCY and could hear MIKAYA still arguing in the background. Lucy asked if I wanted to bring it back. I said all I wanted was an apology. I was cooking the food at home. LUCY APOLOGIZED and I updated my review.
Absolutely the worst breakfast experience Ive ever had. Eggs were full of egg shell and poor service. The waitress left for the day without saying anything or following up with me. So Im sitting and waiting to send back my eggs and finally ask another waitress only to find out my waitress punched out. I guess when the new waitstaff starts they dont have to take care of the seated customers. I asked to speak with a manager and Im told I guess its him pointing to the cook. I guess? What a joke. Never ever again will I go back to Berkley Coney. I should have gone to a Leos Coney.
What ever you do. Do not come on sat or sun mornings for breakfast. They take care of every carry out that is called in why the patrons sitting inside can wait up until 1 to 1 1/2 hrs for your breakfast. ..its happened to me and my 5 yr old granddaughter who had to wait for over an hr for 2 eggs toast and bacon. Brought it to the attention of the lady owner. She didnt care. No apologies. She was rude and ridiculous. Remember their carry outs come first. Its been Proven 3 times to me now. Now on weekends i order carry out. Would not bother on weekend trying to come have a breakfast here. Im sure others agree. We were all waiting. ...ridiculous
I had the worst experience and it will be the last time I order from here. I ordered 2 turkey club pita with ham. When I got home there was no turkey on the pita just ham. I called them and they said to bring them back and they would make new sandwichs. I did and they gave me new sandwichs. I got home and there was turkey and ham but no bacon. I was highly upset. The next day I called and spoke with a manager to explain what happened. He said to bring the sandwichs back. That is the policy and hung up the phone. Very poor and unprofessional.
Just your run of the mill coney joint. Service is always friendly and attentive. Id go for coneys any day, but everything else on the menu isnt quite up to par...not like coneys set the bar really high or anything, but standard wholesale food distribution chicken tenders are kinda gross.
Worst Greek salad Ive ever had in a restaurant. The grilled chicken had strange, gristly areas which were nearly hard as a bone. Lettuce looked like it was cut a couple days ago, same as the onion. Beets and olives were okay. Dressing was overly sweet. The pita was the high point of the meal.
I am a fan of the Berkley Coney Island. Standard delicious Detroit coney Island Style food. The service is excellent, though one time we struggled for a while to communicate the desire for a 7-UP to a bus boy since the waitress was busy. Its the only place Ive ever been to that uses a bunny ears antenna on the flat screen tv, but hey if you want to watch a fuzzy Lions game and eat cheap food, its a good deal.I really like how they addressed the smoking issue. They are open 24 hours a day, excluding Sunday (I think they open at Noon?), during the day they are smoke free, and then allow smoking 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.This allows smokers to find somewhere else to go during the day in one of Berkleys other fine establishments, but late at night when they are all thats open its good for all.
This was hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had. Our waitress forgot to take our order even though there were only three tables being served in the whole place. Once we finally got a chance to order after about a half hour, my girlfriend ordered the lake perch, which was a special tonight - with her selections, it was supposed to come with garlic bread, a salad, a baked potato, and apple pie. I ordered a reuben. They gave my girlfriend fries instead of a baked potato and forgot the garlic bread, and when we told the waitress about both of these mistakes, she didnt even try to offer to fix them!! She also couldnt have the apple pie because it was apparently still frozen. I was expecting my reuben to come with the creamy-style Russian dressing that is standard for reubens, but instead it came with the sweet Catalina-type Russian dressing - yuck! What a waste of $20, we had to go get dinner elsewhere after.
Burnt pancakes, pancakes with onion inside, under cooked bacon, under cooked and burnt hash browns... out of the 5 times weve eaten here, these are just a few of the issues weve encountered. However we had the Eggs Benedict that is only served on the weekend and we loved that. Other than that, looks like well only eat here on the weekends.
I truly wish I could give it no stars the split pea soup was horrendous almost tasted like it head cleaner in it and to boot the waitress brought me the wrong soup and served my soup to another table went over and got my soup brought it back to me after it was sitting on someone elses table in front of them I just thought that was horrible she could have asked if I still wanted it and got me a fresh Bowl if I preferred the fries were soggy which is hard to do and the Reuben sandwich was truly awful I took one bite couldnt break off the meat basically pulled off all the meat with one bite thumbs down worst Coney Island I ever went to
Great service to much Grease in hash browns otherwise they would be excellent homemade potatoes but they reck them with too much grease and dont cook the bacon enough otherwise is a great place to eat just ask for your hash browns dry and your bacon crisp and youll be good to go!!
Food was edible. Hash browns under cooked, dude at the table behind us had same problem. Dirty silverware. Weird tasting ham. We ordered a slim jim, it came with no swiss cheese, when we told them they seemed highly confused as to wether cheese came on it. All in all very greasy mass produced food. Probably wont be back.
Came here because of the corned beef review. Well it was lack luster and not prepared like menu says. When a menu reads sandwich i dont expect to get a fried corned beef that the butter on bread overwhelms the taste of my sandwich. Corned beef was ok, thin but slightly fatty. Servers are very nice and unfortunately were quite bored that day do to the woodward/berkley car parade. Should of gotten A/W next door. Hot dogs would of tasted better then fried butter corned beef. Very disappointed after reading good reviews
Sat in the waiting area for 13 minutes not once was I served or acknowledged yet 4 Caucasian couples came after me and not only were served they were given menus and told to take their time meanwhile I was ignored after repeatedly asking for help this establishment is a trash can

2022-04-03The late night shift waitress Pam was amazing. Very nice to look at too. Really on top of things. Food was good, service was better. Highly recommend the grilled chicken pita. Hopefully youll get the same waitress mentioned. You will not be disappointed.

2022-04-21Basic coney. Kinda expected better than dry overcooked sausage links bits in a meat lovers omelet. And Ive seen bigger portions at hole in the wall places for half the price. But service was quick and friendly.

2021-06-15Food was pretty good. Nice clean atmosphere. It was extremely busy. Pricing was the norm.

2022-05-23Berkeley Coney Island was nice and welcoming in atmosphere, decent amount of space for parking, the staff is courteous, I ordered a Greek chicken salad, was a little too much lettuce verses vegetables and chicken, overall a decent dinning experience.

2018-12-03Wben I stopped they were extremely busy but the staff was still attentive and timely. Tbeyclose at 3pm on Sundays but are open 24 hours Monday through Friday. This could easily become your go to restaurant. The omlet was prepared exactly as ordered. Kudos to the cooking staff.

2022-03-12Have been going here for years and it has been slowly going down hill. Today’s experience was the worst ever. Ordered 4 coney dogs and the hot dogs looked and tasted like they had been on the grill for weeks. They were dry , shriveled and rubbery just awful 😠 Don’t think we will be coming back 😔

2021-01-07Best thing on the menu is the Berkley Pita hands down. Breakfast is meh for the price but the pita and chili cheese fries are excellent CONSISTENTLY.
