1st every staff member was nice! Very Clean and simple, I travel frequently for business and appreciate the community of reviewers helping me decide to stay here! Nice AC, (so many current hotels have motion sensors, so this was a welcome change). Good bed all around quite.(Stayed on first floor, place was full). Cool spot if you wanted to arrive on a boat, great little terrace, river view, and common area for breakfast.
No complaints. Very clean and friendly staff. Rooms are clean as well. Right off the water front. So you can view the river. I wished i would of stayed more days. Definitely coming back. Breakfast was AWESOME.!!!!! A lot of options. Very very good. The pool was quite as well. An they do clean it every night. Overall a very nice hotel to stay at with your family. My kids and husband where in love.
Came down for two nights and wish we would have booked longer, so much to explore! Great location, clean rooms, great size mini fridge, boat docking viewable from most rooms. Beautiful sunrises. Staff were all great and always seem to be busting their butts and enjoying what they do.
When we checked in they tried to stick us in an interior room across from the pool. No outside windows and small room. It looks like a conference room turned into a guest room. The room looks like a cave. Anyway went down and demanded the river front room that I booked. They gave us the river front room. That room was okay. The hotel needs to be remodeled. It does not appear to have been updated in many years. The river should also have some type of railing installed to prevent people (children) from falling in. Probably will never stay here again until it is updated.
Very nice place we had no power and they did. Nice to have water and lights. Room was awesome and so was the pool and hot tub.
Stayed here twice. Only 15-ish minutes from Mackinaw City so the nightly rates are reasonable. I love the back porches and waterway view. Always very peaceful. Would recommend an upstairs room. Not much to do or eat nearby.
Please read in full. I originally booked from a travel site. Ended up calling to confirm the reservation. Asked if the room was overlooking the water. Then they ended up switching me to a better room overlooking the water before I hung up. When I showed up for check in I told them I also originally wanted a 2nd floor room as well but was more than happy with what they provided. They ended up accommodating even more with my request. I was more than happy with the outcome an service they provided even gave me a wakeup call for checkout since i fell asleep before. More than generous. I will definitely be back.
Nice remodeled room, if they could get rid of the old musty smell, would be great.
My husband and I have stayed at this location twice before with good experiences. This time was bad. We were put in a room that looked like it hadnt been cleaned & there were bugs on the ceiling. The wallpaper was literally peeling off the walls, the smell was not good. They were kind enough to put us in another room, but not without some prompting. The 2nd room was better but sitting on the balcony was noisy, smelled smoke & weed. There is no elevator to the 2nd floor so my husband who has lung issues had difficulty getting up & down from one floor to another. The place is really running down and the cost to stay two nights was ridiculous! It was the 1st two days of a long overdue & much needed vacation! We wont be coming back! How disappointing!!
This little motel was perfect for our 4 rivers and 5 lake trip. You can park your boat in front of your room. Also the rooms are clean and the staff is super friendly. It is a older motel but they do a fantastic job.
We stayed at this Best Western because we were boating on the inland waterway. The location could not have been better as a DNR boat launch site is only three blocks away. The staff was very nice but the rooms need some updated. For example the carpet in our room had creases in it.
Great view and clean room on our Aug 2021 visit. Bathroom a bit small and room somewhat humid but AC worked and patio door offered cool access to the river.

Stayed 2 nights in a overpriced pet friendly room. Advised the front staff air conditioner wasnt working 1st night and they never showed 1st or second night. The male subject working counter was great but never sent maintenence to fix air. 600+ dollars and no air 2 nights .Asked for a manager to call me when checking out now 3 days later and still no call.
Stayed for 3 nights. When checking in we were told that due to COVID restrictions they would not be sending someone to clean rooms unless requested. We only requested it one day, and they said only towels and garbage would be handled. We said ok, and it never got done. We had to go to the front desk for more towels and the garbage was never handled. Also their hot breakfast during their COVID restrictions includes a breakfast burrito, which happens to be a microwave burrito. Not to be desired. Rooms were decently clean but we would definitely pay slightly more to be closer to Mackinaw city next time.
Rooms are old and very small. The room in tbe picture is not what you get. The walk path is very uneven, not suitable for any one in a wheelchair or with gait issues. Management is pleasant. Breakfast is a hot or cold bag that you pick up at the desk to eat in your room. No plates are cutlery provided. I dont recommend anyone in a wheelchair stay here.

Booked last minute to see the blue ice. Manager was able to get adjoining rooms for my parents. Cant beat the price. Great views and friendly staff. Very clean. I will come back when the pool opens! Thanks for a wonderful stay.
It was an ok hotel. Willing to come back and stay here again during the warmer months seeing as we love visiting up north. But I do however have to mention the fact that the shower did not drain water very well and when brought to the front desk attendants attention, we were told it was a known problem and maintenance just hadnt done anything about it yet. We stayed one night and in the course of one shower there was enough standing water to cover ones feet. Not a fan of that. And I hope by the time we make it back up that issue has been resolved. Beyond the drainage issue it was nice to have the balcony and the view of the river, even if it was frigid, not too far of a drive to Mackinaw and the Bridge.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in during my years of traveling!! First things first, we were checking out of the hotel and we received an extremely bad attitude from the manager at the front desk saying that they might have to charge us for any damages and that if our card declined that she would file a police report. She assumed that our card would get declined which is very rude to say. Once we got into our car I noticed a $250 credit card charge. We barely even got to our car yet before she charged us. Wasn’t even 2 minutes after we checked out. Then, we walked back into the lobby to speak about the charge and she claimed that we smoked in the room. We explained that we did not smoke in the room and that we would leave the hotel just to smoke however, she was forcing it on us that we did smoke with no proof. She called the sheriff on us and she was very rude the entire time. Do not recommend this place. They also didn’t even fill the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for us. The toilet also kept getting clogged. There was on a stain on the sheets. I will never stay at another best western hotel again!
BEWARE! Best Western River Terrace charged our card twice for 2 different stays and we have only been there once. First charge showed up and then they charged our card one day after we checked out for another 2 nights. Now they wont refund us for 2 nights that we did not stay there. Horrible service trying to get our money back. This is place is involved in fraudulent charges. I would have given zero stars but it requires at least one to write a review. Very Disappointed.
Tried to book a night and was told only able to do 2 nights minimum. Pictures look nice! Too bad they didnt want my money. Fleetwood next door took my money and had a good nights stay there! Good luck!
We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was! It was very very clean, which is all you can ask for! The king sized bed room is a little small, but it is laid out well so that you never feel crowded. The staff was so friendly and pleasant. Even the people painting the outside were super nice and they didnt even need to interact with us.The only negative thing I can say is that there is no microwave, but we were close to the vending machines which had one, so it wasnt terribly inconvenient.
The room was decent, clean, no frills. The view of the river was very nice from the little, off-room terrace. The price was a little high for an off-season Monday, but we didn’t feel like shopping around. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean and kept-up. You could probably do better, but you could almost certainly do worse.
Been staying here for years. Usually when I am going through the inland waterway. Older hotel but alway clean and nice. Staff is always helpful a pleasant. I like being on the river.
The room was comfortable and nice. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the boats go by. It was very nice to dock our boat right outside our room. The only thing we were disappointed with was that even though our room was on the first floor, we could not walk out at ground level which was a bit of a pain taking the dogs out. We had to go around the end of the hotel for them to do their business.
Clean, comfortable, great value. Such a nice place. After a long trip and several below par overnight stays i was pleased to find this little hidden gem. Great customer service and very well taken care of property. You can tell they put effort into keeping the place beautiful. And they have rooms with cute patios on the river. It was beautiful!
Covid restrictions only allow the desk to provide individual bag breakfasts. There is a handy Kurig and coffee available when the breakfast coffee caraffes are finished. The pool is very clean and well maintained. Great place for a group!
Have stayed there several times due to unique backdoor to the view of the river. Nice to sit with a drink and watch the river and boats go by. Also, only 15 minutes to Mackinaw city without the crowed tourist feel.Rooms are basic, but are being updated. Breakfast bar very fresh and well stocked.All staff very friendly
Booked room online and did not realize the rooms could be road front and not have the water picture out the back ,when paying nearly $300 for a n12hr stay I would have expected to not have the slider go to another hallway?? Very strange and would recommend going next store for a much better suite for the same price and waterfront view:(
Extremely nice and CLEAN place. These people care about their guests. The room serve staff is hopefully appreciated because they had done a phenomenal job on presenting our room and providing a comfortable feeling that we were sharing a brief but personal part of our life with them in spending the night in a room they had made inviting and welcoming. Kudos to all.The front dest staff were alwsys professional and courteous.The views of the river always enjoyable and pool/ spa areas were modern, clean, sanitized and hot.Covid rules were followed and reasonable. Breakfast great considering covid limitations.I will indeed return and recommend this fine establishment. Hotel has an awesome view of the river and the room we stayed in was pretty nifty. We had access to the typical motel setup and in the rear of the room was access to the interior of the hotel and pool area, perfect for the kids! Hotel staff was very friendly and went above and beyond my expectations. We were running late for breakfast and had realized it was after the closing time. I went down to see what was left and the friendly staff offered to get whatever I needed out again to get some breakfast. Front desk was very courteous and friendly as well, we will be bringing the kids back for a stay next summer for sure!
We are 66 yrs old and staying 5 days. The young girl told me that she put us upstairsThis place has NO ELEVATORI told her that my husband just had eye surgery and was having trouble seeingI asked her if she could check to see about putting us on the first floorShe took 1 second and said NoThere had only been 4 rooms that were checked in at that timeDidnt care at All just said it was only 12 stairsTo lug up 5 days worth of our things and cooler
Room was nice, had to wait until 6 for my room to be ready and pick up a key and then I had to get 4new keys because they kept going out on me. I paid cash and they are trying to now charge my card i had to put down for a deposite 150 MORE than i even initially paid for the room after I checked out because they claimed it smelled like smoke. We did not smoke in the room. We dont smoke. We did hit our vapes outside going to the pool but that was it.
Weve stayed here multiple times and have had great experiences. Most recently, we booked the king jacuzzi suite, we didnt expect it to be the little shed in the parking lot! It was super quiet for us and my 6 year old had a good time running around the room without us worrying about how noisy he was for the neighbors! The jacuzzi easily fit two people and a six year old and the room was clean. Would definitely book this room again!

The room and the service are phenomenal. Our room overlooked the river and had a nice sitting area on a balcony. The gym has the essentials and is functional, used it every night. The pool is nice but unfortunately we forgot clothes to use it. The breakfast was a delightful surprise, we went in with low expectations and came out impressed. All in all a great experience. Would definitely stay here again.
The breakfast included gluten free AND dairy free options. Hot coffee service was available at the front desk all day and during the evening. The facade needs touching up as the paint is peeling, the rooms need new screen sliding doors (they are old and clunky). There is a beautiful boardwalk along the river behind the hotel, and just the hotel, and that is peaceful. Its a small distance to the downtown by foot, but doable because I did it. The staff were friendly, and good parking.
The motel was very nice. The view off the balcony was beautiful even though it was cold. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. The breakfast items were good, only wish there would have been some meat, but plenty of everything. The rooms were very clean & the bed was very comfortable. Nice place, will stay again.
The room was awesome, with a back porch facing the river. Very peacefulThe only complaint was a teenage girl and her friends in the pool area being disrespectful and rude everyday. Staff didnt go above and beyond bit it was ok.
Loved that the rooms overlooked the river!! Very convenient when you are boating :)Only 2 downfalls, the shower water was not very warm and we had a smell that was concentrated in the bathroom and at the sink (outside of the bathroom), that was very much like a sewer smell. Other than that, the room was clean and served its purpose.
Stayed for a family wedding in the area. This motel was very well-suited for our needs. The beds were super comfortable. Friendly desk staff who served us promptly and efficiently. We enjoyed the breakfast which was kept stocked and very clean; nice assortment of breakfast items. There is a dining room facing the river with several tables outside on the patio. Our rooms were on the second floor overlooking the river. The only thing that I would change is that I should have requested the ground floor level. It was a little uncomfortable for my mother to go up and down the steps numerous times. It was a chilly weekend so we did not take advantage of the proximity of the river. A very inviting setup though. I called the direct phone # here in Cheboygan when I originally searched for our place to stay and spoke with Tim. He was so friendly and helpful with answering my questions and getting us the best possible rates. Would definitely stay again!
Thank you to the woman working at the front desk. I think her name was Michelle. She was able to arrange for our whole family to have rooms together. She also made sure our elderly mother had a first floor room, as well as my sister who needed a first floor room. She also made sure housekeeping cleaned our rooms first, so we could have early check-in to get ready for our nephews wedding. Overall great experience.
I felt the front desk lady could have been nicer and since you can’t use anything they shouldn’t charge you full price give you 3 small pillows for a king size bed with 2 adults and a 2 year old in it and made sure to mark it down, told me no jacuzzi rooms where available than I got there and this nice man who checked us in said yes they had some so we got one and it was only a 10 dollar difference since your pool isn’t open let my son have some fun. When I asked for more pillows that was a problem I guess too bc we got some lumpy old pillows not the ones that we had already on our bed we could actually use that wouldn’t hurt your next, the stop, shampoo and conditioner for shower that is bolted to the wall was empty and not refilled before we got in there so I didn’t get to shower at least give people a discount we didn’t even get breakfast you pay for all that so help people out and at least give a discount. The bed was comfortable at least!!!!
My wife and I just stayed there for six days, and we were very pleased with our experience. We found the staff to be very friendly, the rooms very clean, and the breakfast excellent. We really enjoyed the make-your-own waffle. Our room was on the second floor and our balcony looked out on the inland waterway, a great view for relaxing with a glass of wine. We checked in Labor Day evening and received the off-season rate, which made for an inexpensive stay. We definitely recommend the River Terrace Best Western.
Not bad for the price. Wouldve been nice to know that we werent going to be able to use the pool. Website didnt say anything about it being renovated. It was a nice view of the river, but found a dirty sock under the chair.
Really 4+ stars. Very nice room with patio view and the river in front. What really impressed me was the cleanliness of the room. Even the corners of the bathroom floor were spotless - something quite often overlooked by cleaning staff. Would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.
The room was great, not only do you have access to your room from the parking lot side but you also have a patio or balcony facing the river which we found great because we had pets & stayed on the first floor, the room was great size, the bed & bedding were really nice. The breakfast was good & it a little bit of everything. The pool & hot tub were clean & nice. Though the towels in the pool room were small so I would suggest bringing ones from the room.
Stayed up here at the end of March 2017 and it was great. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and well maintained, breakfast was great. From the pictures, youd thing it was more of a motel, which doors only going to the outside, but thats not the case. We were able to get to our room on the 2nd floor to the pool inside without having to weather the frigid March weather we were having that day. Great job all around. Would definitely stay there again.
Gentleman at check in desk was extremely helpful. We were unhappy with initial room and it was upgraded at no additional cost. We enjoyed the river scene from our room. Very relaxing. Not at all bothered by houses across the river. We are very familiar with Cheboygan, so no surprises. Clean and comfortable. Pool was nice. Breakfast was typical fare. One complaint is that the hard cooked eggs needed to be peeled and there was no available water to rinse the shell off. Dining area quite small. Adequate for the winter stay with limited guests using the dining area, but must be cramped in tourist season. We enjoyed our stay.
Black hair on bathub- shower-floor, soapdish had old soap(NOT stain-DRIED SOAP RESIDUE LEFT)-not cleaned, inside of toilet-bowl not cleaned. Semi-long brown/black hair between sheets on bed. Called/Reserved 2 Queen beds, 2nd floor balcony/Riverview,We arrived and hotel had booked us on 1st floor-Kingbed interior after telling us no Kingbed rm/with jaqcuzi available at time of reservation that was asked for(Rm/floor changed). Due to Covid restrictions Continental breakfast was hot or cold bag with options(that was fresh)-ordered at time of check-in (at desk clerks suggestion), Watched her write down request, next morning incorrect order by 2 desk-clerks that couldnt find written breakfast order-kept confusing each other-listening skills need work.
Lovely hotel with pleasant views of river. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. Professional and helpful staff. Only two complaints: 1) internet access was spotty and slow and 2) maid overlooked replacing washcloths. Other then that, we had a very nice stay!
Stayed here Jan 2021. Very clean rooms and updated. Staff takes Covid-19 guidelines very seriously. Balcony facing the river was really enjoyable; added to the tranquility of the room. Looking forward to staying here again.
Visiting family in town and had to be close so this was the perfect location, not to mention a great view! Staff is super nice and very accommodating! Rooms are super clean with maid service every day (loved that) special thanks to the house keeping because my kids love chips and got a little messy. I visit several times a year and will most likely be staying here every time.
Everything is good except the bathroom in our room is SMALL!! From the toilet to the sink couldnt be 3 feet and from the door to the tub side maybe 2 feet.
Very clean fresh air inside the room and no musty odors at all. Also room was clean. Carpet is clean. Very accommodating for us who got there late. Staff was friendly. I highly recommended staying here.
This is a difficult one for me, as it was a combination of really good and really bad. The room price was good, especially for a room that walks right onto the river with a great view from the room. The room even had keyed entry into the back door, which is nice if you want to go spend some time back there. The room was perfectly fine, nothing special, and definitely older. Oddly, there was a chair that was half blocking the bathroom, which just seemed like some people would trip over going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.My first big complaint is the internet that didnt work more than half the time, which was explained to me as a city-wide outage. I could let that go, but when I said something to the front desk worker, she acted like I was putting her out by saying anything.The other one was the breakfast room. It was way too small, poor choices, and probably at least 80° (felt like 90°, but I would probably be exaggerating). Overall, it averages out to just being average, but fixing a couple small things would make this a nice place.
Cold, bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Breakfast was pretty sad.
The outside of the building could use some fresh paint/updating, but this is a really nice hotel. Right on the canal, tables outside, rooms have a balcony, heated pool for the kids, clean rooms and helpful staff. Weve stayed there more than once and would go back again.

Great room and bed, with updated look in room. View was nice, but odd looking at houses across the water (so close). Hotel was very clean. Breakfast was good. Slept great and staff very friend. Only note is towels are a bit aged and could be replaced... sheets were great.
Rooms are extremely big, comfortable, and cozy. Need to request a view of the river if thats something youre interested in or youll most likely just be put in the front. Breakfast was extremely good with tons of options. Highly recommend.
Friendly, clean, free breakfast just like other major chains. We spent 2 nights for high school bowling and will return next year for sure. Great view of river even though it was frozen. Personal deck would be awesome to use in warm months.

Was a decent stay until check out. Not worth over $100 a night for a stay by any means. Id recommend staying elsewhere. The maintenance guys were super nice though, we met 2 of them and they were extremely helpful and friendly! The front desk clerk was absolutely rude and super aggressive. If you have any maintenance issues you had better take pictures, videos, write down every time you call front desk and write down who you talked to and what time it was because if not they will call you a liar and say it never happened. STAY AWAY DO NOT GO HERE
This is a lovely hotel. Clean, comfortable, peaceful. Beautiful view of the river, boats, ducks, and geese. Very well maintained property. The screen door out back to our private patio was lovely. You didnt need to carry your key card everywhere. Recomend eating at Mulligans, great food and atmosphere. The pool was very nice however needed to be a lot warmer for us.
The bed is very comfortable. The shower is great. The rooms have a lovely view of the water and a nice baloney/patio with each room. A very beautiful setting. The breakfast is good. I love the waffles.
Quite place to sleep,we were on ground floor. Continental breakfast great,fresh,homemade oatmeal, fresh medium scrabble eggs,no meats,but more items. One thing we didnt like the bathroom ,was very small space with toilet and tub. Hard for wheelchair or walker to get in & wash sink was in the main room where bed was. No kleenex, had to get wash cloths,2 was available only I. Room.
I booked this hotel for a total of 4 days on Hotels.com. Part of my vacation was changed and we contacted (hotels.com) and changed our days from 4 to 2. Hotels.com contacted the hotel and it was confirmed and I kept ALL emails concerning this to protect myself. THANK GOODNESS I DID! When we arrived I had noticed that Best Western charged me a no call no show for the first night of the canceled days that we confirmed with them and hotels.com. The lady, Renee at the front desk was very rude, no let me take this back, extremely rude and it added to the frustration of our vacation. I was told the manager was to be in the morning and it would be resolved and we waited around on OUR vacation waiting to a point that we were tired of waiting all morning and went about our day. When we finally did get to talk to the manager the same info was given to us that we did not show. I called hotels.com and my credit card company to fight this. We were told the person who excepted our ordinal cancellation was the very own front desk lady Renee who was so rude to us. By the time we left to continue our vacation we were very upset and the relaxation we had intended to do was gone. The manager as we checked out told us that they reversed the charges because of my emails I sent to her on the canceled dates and rebooking which was done the SAME DAY. The hotel blamed all of this on HOTELS.COM and would not take responsibly on the part that the lady at the front desk would not fess up to her mistake. I would highly recommend to NOT stay at this hotel at all!!!!!
Had a beautiful time with the wife and kids! Our room was clean & safe, the continental breakfast was great, the pool was fantastic, and most important the staff was friendly and accommodating! We would definitely stay again.
Room 245 was very nice, clean and comfortable. Our only issue was the walls were not well insulated for sound. Could hear the TV next door and a lot of normal hallway traffic noise. However, we slept fine. Well be back.
We had a lovely stay at the Best Western River Terrace in Cheboygan! The location right on the river is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony each night watching the water, ducks, and boats. The room was very clean and had a good-sized refrigerator. No microwave in the room, but there is one to use by the vending machines near the pool. Staff was very friendly. We will stay here again.
This place was clean the hot tub was hot the pool was warm and the staff was friendly..... the woman working the afternoon on Friday April 25 was amazing! I wish I would have gotten her name!
Very clean rooms. Great location right on the river. The cleaning service takes the time to REALLY clean your room, its impressive. I just wish the continental breakfast contained some protein like bacon or sausage.. Overall good place to stay.
I stay at at The River Terrace when I am in Cheboygan for work. Always clean and spacious rooms and all with a kitchenette and a great view of the river. All the staff is great. Best place to stay in the area!
Our little dog was welcome and enjoyed her stay.Shower was great and bed was comfortable. Breakfast available at 6:30 and coffee in lobby any time.

We were in a good location for the little town of Cheboygan, Michigan. We were near pretty much everything a visitor needed, pharmacy, restaurants, ice cream shops (my personal favorite), grocery store and banks. Very nice location for motel if you look from the back, on the river side. The doors face the street/highway (wasnt too busy but the street just the same.) Each room as a balcony looking out to a riverwalk where small boats travel or pull up and dock, ducks swim by or you can sit on a bench and watch it all happen. My only complaint, the room was a little small for three adults I cant imagine a family sharing a room. Buffet breakfast was good, cant go wrong with hot waffles, eggs and sausage.
If you are planning a trip up north in Michigan, be sure to stay here! Theres not much to pick from in this town, so make sure you have reservations at this Best Western. Its on the water, the walkway is so nice and its a blast to watch the boats and feed all the ducks! Staff is great, rooms are very nice, and the Dairy Queen downtown is terrific! Going 18 miles north to Mackinaw City to stay is a let down after staying here. We went to 3 different motels up there looking for a room and told them we wouldnt stay there after seeing the room. When we finally found one, it was better, but still awful. Way more money, wish we would have just stayed in Cheboygan and drove up! Mackinaw City is a monopoly in the motels, all owned by the same money hungry owners who arent sticking a nickel into their properties and charging way way too much!
This place needs to up their game. They charged us a 5 star price for a 1 star experience. The room smelled of mildew, super dated and not clean, sink and tub didnt drain. Would not stay again.
Company claims there was evidence stating we destroyed their room when we didnt. We asked for the proof and they wouldnt show us. Company lies and prays on helpless families. I will not stop fighting this because its simply not true! They wont show the proof because there is NONE! WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING IN THE ROOM! WE WERE BARELY THERE! NEVER stay here!
We stayed a week here and really enjoyed it! The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable! There is a great view of the river, and the staff are so pleasant and accommodating! We will definently stay here on our next trip to the area!
Lady at the desk gave us room 247, gave our room keys and wifi password. Wifi didnt work in our room, she seemed unwilling to help, and were disappointed.I prefer not to stay here again.
After reading such nice reviews about this hotel (really a motel), I arrived with great optimism only to be placed in a creepy room with no river view and a glass door that looks out into a dead end hallway and partial view of the river and the indoor pool. Be sure that, when you book a room, it is very clearly stated where you room is booked. Rooms 237-241 do not have a river view. My room is dark and shows its age. I have never been to Cheboygan or this hotel. So the advice that I should have requested a river view wasnt helpful. One more thing. It is 2018. By now the property should have more than ample plugs for chargers and computing devices. I have to unplug lamps/clocks as a business traveler. Owners usually take better care of BW members. Surprised. ***Updated to three stars from two. The breakfast was great in a nice room with a very, very friendly man running the show.
The only place Ill stay when doing an overnight in Cheboygan. My overnight business stay started well with second shift desk clerk Tim - who knew my name from once a month stays and always works to give me a convenient room at a fair corporate rate.Room and property are well maintained and very clean. Rates are very fair.*Appreciated overnight rates werent doubled as Mackinaw bridge was closed due to falling ice that night. Had heard other bridge area hotel/motels had increased rates to take advantage of stranded motorists.Bed, sink and tub very clean. TV, wall heater and fridge in good working order.Clerk at morning express checkout very quick at closing out bill accurately and did with a nice smile and thank you for my stay.
Very Nice motel, clean and quite pleasant, quiet,(but it might be the time of year)! The heater was a little loud but after I took my hearing aids out...I couldnt hear it anyway!., LOLNeed a water softener installed, would make showering more pleasant!Will probably stay again, if in the area!!
Room wasnt clean,old socks under couch and one bed had pizza stain on it and also the door, beer cap under sink paid too much for room.
This is the best hotel to stay in Cheboygan. The rooms are clean. There is a door that opens to the outside of your room to sit outside and watch the boat activity on the river or just for fresh air.The breakfast is the best of any hotel weve ever stayed in around the country. The staff is professional and friendly. We always recommend the River Terrace!
My family was in town for a funeral and we selected the BWRT to stay for 2 nights. The room was clean and large enough 4 for adults to get around in. However the bathroom was very small and the pocket door was broken. We enjoyed the pool/hot tub as well as the breakfast buffet.
Single digits and no heat in the room when I entered. I froze the first hour. Not a comfortable arrival.
We were very unsatisfied with our room. The air conditioner did not work, the sink was dirty, there was dust everywhere as if it wasnt even dusted when it was cleaned. We definitely will not return.
The room was fine. The breakfast was fine. We stayed two nights, leaving our luggage in the room during our day trip. While we were gone, a pair of sandals disappeared from our room. Very disappointing as nothing has ever gone missing from our room in many years of staying with Best Western all across the U.S. and Canada. Plus, we are in the middle of a vacation, now without my sandals.
Stayed overnight with family. Easy place to get to and easy check-in. Room was clean and up to date. Nothing fancy, but well stay again if we are in the area. Breakfast was fairly typical of a complimentary breakfast.
The BW in Cheboygan, MI lies along the river and is a relaxing place to stay. They have an indoor pool & spa, & part of their parking lot is Coned so that people hauling a boat & trailer can back in without difficulty. Clever!Entrances to the rooms are facing the parking lot & then another door lets you out to the pool area. Its a nice clean motel in a nice sleepy little town just south of the Mackinac Bridge on Lake Huron. Lots of history here. Go see the old Opera House! You will enjoy. Also a couple of outstanding eateries further up river. Another fine Best Western to add to your list of Good Places to Stay!
From check in to check out an excellent experience. Friendly front desk, clean room, comfortable bed, and clean breakfast area with your typical continental breakfast spread. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.
Place is okay, friendly check in guy but checking out guy was not so friendly. Place seems to have no bed bugs, though some fruit flies (?) were bugging me (fixed by covering door bottom crack and closing the bath door). Otherwise clean rooms and housekeeping staff were cool and efficient.
I booked the handicapped room for my dad and it was a very nice room – very clean, very accessible. My only disappointment was that the website says they provide grab and go breakfast, but the clerk let us know this was not provided.
This is not a hotel, it is a roadside motel, at luxury hotel prices. However, I was willing to accept that as marketing exaggerating until the maid removed a Do Not Disturb sign and entered our room while we were at breakfast. It was hours before checkout and we had planned to return to the room to freshen up before departing. I reported the intrusion to the front desk and the clerk was rude and flippant about it. I suppose she must get a cut of items that would have been stolen had I not caught them in the act.

Although the hotel lobby was under construction, directional signage made finding the entrance easy. Staff is courteous and efficient. Our room was on the ground floor with an entrance door which made it ideal for us. We traveled with our dog and the room was clean and very well laid out for our one-night stay in Cheboygan MI.

Overpriced for the area. Surrounding hotel quite a bit more affordable. Rooms are dated and balconies are full of bugs and spider webs. Rooms are a little noisy mostly from foot and car traffic right outside of door.
It snowed on tuesday night during my stay, about three inches. I woke up an hour early and forgot my scraper (i am from the south, was on a biz trip). I got my front window cleared with the defroster and went back into my room. When I came out, the owner of the establishment was going car to car scraping all the windows and roofs of every car in the lot. Outstanding customer service. They also had Kosher options for breakfast.

We have stayed at this hotel before and will do so again. We are Best Western platinum members and they gave a a fabulous room with a river view and a military discount. We always have a very comfortable and enjoyable stay there.
This hotel is fantastic! The river view rooms with porches, boat docking, indoor pool / hot tub and picnic area set it apart from any other place in the area. The staff is awesome as well.
I really love how the room had a balcony overlooking the river. Front desk and breakfast staff were pleasant and helpful. Not the nicest, newest room, but it was comfortable.

Ok place to stay I guess. Not too many choices here. And for a place that looks more like a motel, the rooms are good enough.But seriously, you need to get reasonable WiFi. It’s 2018. My dialup service in the 90’s worked better than this garbage. As a business traveler, I stay in hotels 80-100 nights a year and this is the only one with WiFi from the Stone Age. And that’s being generous. And it has been that way the past 5 years. A complete joke. You ask me every time if I want to become a rewards member and this is the reason I won’t, despite being a member with practically every other chain.And if check-in is 3, and I’m in my room at 3:30, why is there an employee opening my door with no notice at 4?????

Stayed in a king room by the pool. The room was clean. Fluffy pillows, mattress on the firm side but I like that. I was not disturbed by other guests or employees. I would stay there again.
This is an underrated hotel. This hotel includes a gym, pool/hottub, and a continental breakfast. My room had a patio overlooking the Cheboygan River, which was very cool. 7 out of 7 would recommend! Yeah, I use a scale to 7 👍
We stayed on the upper floor, close to the pool. Our kids enjoyed the pool, and hot tub.. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Over all our stay was great.

Paid to swim here and the place is full of ants. Never any towels. Seems like a lot for 20. For two hours. I guess I’ll spend 5 in gas and go to mackinaw city for another 5. Still ahead. Wish it was still locally owned. Or American owned for that matter.
Great experience at the Best Western in Cheboygan Michigan. The staff is one of the best staff I have ever experienced. Consistent and yet always improving as they go through another extensive upgrade of the facilities. Everyone is professional, friendly and trustworthy. The owners are always keeping a watchful eye on the operations.
Very nice people run this hotel. The night I stayed there, there was an ice storm and I did not venture out before morning, so I had very little interaction with the staff. The wifi was solid, and the room was warm.
Worst experience ever!!! Not respectful and specially not a a dog friendly sounds to me by their attitude they really hate dogs!!!! Never ever will stay in this hotel branch. Stay away from this hotel. I was asked to not leave my dog even for going for lunch (not the whole day as the owner mentioned), even the aux manager mentioned i need to order food and not to leave my dog at ANY TIME!!! So now the owner is changing the whole story.... What a disappointing Again!!!!! I will rate it 0000 starts + now I will complain in the official branch company!!!!!
Rooms were clean and well stocked with towels, coffee, pillows! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Hot and continually being replenished.

A beautiful location on the Cheboygan River. Wonderful swimming pool and hot tub. Excellent accommodations. Dockage on the river outside of your room, to enjoy the Inland waterway.

While remodeled, it lacks the fine, little touches like cleaning in corners and on top of shelves around the baseboards and the chair cushions. One of our towels would have been in my rag collection at home, holes and tattered. Its too bad with the remodeling they dont go the extra mile to make it nicer.
This Hotel is worth 5 stars or beyond that.. Location of this hotel is so perfect.. provide one of the finest view of the river.. can jog or take a leisure stroll on the banks of the river... They have the most cleanest rooms and bathrooms, Breakfast is good and very friendly staff.. I always prefer 1-2 night stay in this hotel
This is a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay. During the winter the prices are pretty good. We enjoyed the breakfast and the new room they have it in.

Checked into our room and found dirty towels hanging in the bathroom, and a wet dirty washcloth in the tub. Paid way too much for a dirty room!

Not happy they are not serving breakfast because of covid or cleaning the rooms which is odd because other hotels still do both and safely. The room was so small as well.
Room was booked by Guests Father and Guest was 32 year old Daughter! She experienced a wonderful stay and wished she couldve stayed longer but had to go back to Detroit for work!

The River Terrace is a great place to stay in Cheboygan. Its right on the river. You boat right up and chill. Its less than a mile to downtown. The staff are friendly and helpful. Try it youll like it.
We asked for and got a ground floor room that opened toward the river. This was fantastic - never heard a car, kept the door open, and looked out onto the peaceful river.

Great place been there many times in the past,they had just remodeled which im assuming is why the price tag was higher then i remember than the past, staff has always been great,love the view of the river,staff cleaned all the guests cars from the snow we got,highly reccomend if your in the cheybogan area

2022-04-26Room is decent, looks like it was recently updated some. Bathroom could be updated a little better. Sink doesnt drain at all, and shower body wash doesnt dispense. View is great! (Right on the river!) Check-in was smooth and easy, and recommended some nice local places to grab dinner. Hot breakfast is a nice change from other hotels recently. Id come back again, really only hotel in the city, but could use some updates.

2021-12-15The staff was all super friendly! I traveled for work and stayed an extra night because of a snowstorm; one of the staff members was nice enough to brush the several inches of snow off of my car that had accumulated overnight. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. The pool area looked clean; I did not use the pool but the hot tub was really nice. There was a nice little breakfast area with a nice assortment of breakfast items. But again, the staff! Every single person I encountered -whether a maintenance worker, a housekeeper, or a front desk worker- greeted me with a sincere smile and a warm hello. I would definitely stay here again!

2022-05-05Staff was wonderful, room view and location were perfect. But the room was not very clean and smelled deeply of smoke and perfume to mask it. The smoke/perfume was bad enough to set off my very rare allergies.Would be the perfect place if they clean up best better.

2022-04-07Check in was quick and easy. Front desk was very accommodating. Stopped by with no reservation and was given a 1st floor river front room (113) at a great price. Room was clean and very nice, with a great view of the river on the patio and back window. Small fridge, microwave (didnt work 😒), and coffee maker with coffee. CLEAN bathroom! Only hit would be an odd scratch behind chair next to bed and the towel rack is very loose, as well as miceowave not working (Im sure they would have replace if Id have asked). I havent seen every room, but I think youve got very unreal expectations if you give this place a bad review.

2022-03-12No clean up during the day. Very unwelcoming for hockey teams. At a tournament where we were made to stay here, but we’re not accommodating -no sticks, no where to hang out, nothing to do. Can’t leave sticks in the car when it’s this cold outside. Would not want to come back. No elevators. No towels in pool area. They were only full this weekend because of the two hockey teams made to stay here, but didn’t seem to want us here.

2022-05-19The parking lot was tight for the big truck we had but we got it in with a 12 point turn.. the room was great and it was quiet for a nice night as I sat on the back porch watching the river in the back. Peacefull end to a day and fell asleep fast on the Comfy bed..food was great and the staff is friendly.

2022-01-01Outside on ground 3 big piles of dirty towels in front of building Christmas tree also laying on towels. No pool towels available in pool area. Hot tub was dirty. Pool area lighting was dark and lights were flickering in pool and over the pool. See way better Best Westerns elsewhere. Very sad.

2021-09-19Very friendly and accomodating staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great view of river with balcony. We trailered a boat with us and were able to dock it along the seawall without issue. We were able to park our trailer in the adjoining lot. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Very satisfied.

2022-02-11Arrived at 2:00 asking if we could checkin an hour early. Front desk girl refused to check if our room was available and insisted that check in is at 3:00. We have a meeting at 3:00 and was just hoping to drop our things before. Nope, no exceptions. Poor customer service.
