Go anywhere else but here!!!!! We paid $800 on 11-11-21, for Service-B on our 2018 Mercedes. The service should have included fluid checks and filter replacements in the car, as well as an oil change. I thought it was extremely odd that when I picked up my vehicle there was no service sticker on it indicating that an oil change had been done. Fast forward to two months later and my car service light comes on saying that I need coolant!!! I’m stunned by this because I live in an extremely cold climate and my car has not been anywhere warm recently. There’s no possible way that I burned through coolant that was supposedly just topped off. I took it into my local dealership to have them check my car out and change the oil and they called to say that all of my filters were filthy and asked if I wanted them to be replaced?!? So that means they did absolutely nothing for $800!!!!!! My husband called to get an explanation as to why this would be and he was blown off and given a list of very lame excuses. We would never recommend such a sketchy, fraudulent place!!! Save yourself the trouble and take your car and your hard earned money to a place that actually has some integrity.
I was very pleased with my experience purchasing a Volvo from James. He was helpful, wanted to get me the best deal possible, and was also very responsive through the whole process. I also worked with Landon if James happened to be with another customer and I had great service from him as well. Between those two and Mark and Dominic, the whole process was smooth and efficient. I love my Volvo and will very likely return for another in 2-3 years.
I am looking at GLE350,450 and found that they had 3 in stock. I sent an inquiry and got a reply with the information requested.I asked them to let me test drive the vehicle after explaining what I am looking for in this vehicle before purchasing. They said the vehicle were not ready, etc, which I could understand.I drove down to meet them personally, and they brought the car out for me to see it, and we decided that they would ready the vehicle for test drive and get back. I did ask if the vehicles were already allocated to customers, and they said NO.Here is where the experience went downhill because I did not hear back from them yet inspite of taking a step to show them that I was interested in buying the vehicle if it passed my criteria after test drive.
I have only had nothing but horrible experiences here I brought my Passat in for an oil change and a def fluid refill and my oil was 2 quarts from full wasn’t even on the dip stick and my add blue was not refilled at all even though I paid for it the mechanics are not knowledgeable about their jobs and will mess your vehicle up on top of that I have been continuously calling my vehicles brand new to me and knocking because of their mechanics
A Mercedes is really not that much more expensive than a KIA. I currently have a Honda CRV and was looking for another smaller SUV. I purchased a Mercedes GLA 250 from Betten Imports. The salesman, Jimmy has been working there for 20 years. He was very knowledgeable. They have very good warranties with their vechicles and they only need oil changes every 10,000 miles.
I just leased a VW Atlas Cross Sport from Betten and Bernard S. helped me. This was the smoothest experience ever. I do a lot of research ahead of time so, I needed to do a test drive after having test driven other brands. I was ready to move forward and Bernard and Dominic worked with me all the way. The entire process was so smooth I have to appreciate their great service level and all the attention to detail. It shows! Thank you Bernard!
I bought a pre-owned 2019 GLS 550 from a dealership in Ohio. Unfortunately, that dealership is over an hour away. Fortunately, I work often in Grand Rapids, MI and there is Mercedes dealership, Betten Imports minutes away. I had my car serviced there a couple of weeks ago, and while there I asked about removing the previous owner from MB Connect so I can register under me. After them sending me to ask 3 different people, Im told the person that can do that is on vacation and I need to come another time. Well, I went back this morning. I go to the sales area, and a gentleman approaches me(I was gawking at a GT on their floor) and he asked if he could help. I told him the situation, and he informed me they cant do that and I needed to call Mercedes. So I go home and research online and all the comments say you have to do it at the dealership. I call the dealership, and Im told again that I have to call Mercedes. So I do, and a lovely lady named Chinda(sp?) informs that it has to be through the dealership, and offers to call them while Im on hold. She does, and gets back on the line and tells me to go find another dealership because she just spoke to Eric the general sales manager, and shes never seen a dealership show such little concern for customers. Eric informed her they dont help anyone who hasnt bought a car from them. Odd, they were happy to take my money on Service A a few weeks earlier. Thoroughly disappointed since I was thrilled to find a dealer so close only to find theyre level of service is abhorrent.
We came yesterday with the intention to buy a GLB. The salesman Nick Nystrom was the most condescending person I have ever dealt with. He talked down to us the entire time, and treated us like we lived in caves and had never driven a car. We had every intention to buy the car, and even though our trade in was not what we had hoped to get based on the current market, his personality and attitude towards us is what made the final decision to walk out. The car is great, and I still intend to buy one, but not from this rude and unprofessional dealership.
We just purchased a Volvo XC60 from Betten. We worked with Simon and he was professional yet personable. He responded promptly to our questions and didnt pressure us to make a decision. They made sure we knew how to use our new vehicle and were excited for us. Their excitement was contagious! I highly recommend Betten Imports! You wont be disappointed!
Bought our first Volvo and did the overseas delivery and had an outstanding experience. But once stateside and doing regular maintenance through Betten has been a nightmare. The service department is so unprofessional and condescending. Weve had to have some things fixed and I cant even go into details because it would be a novel. Bottom line is that I would never buy another car through this dealership again. The car might be premium but the service is far from. Didnt even do a quick car wash after they had our car an entire day for service.
The Mercedes team was nice and the place had a very good waiting area with individual workspaces where I was able to work remotely. However, After inspecting my car, they gave me a list of about 12 suggested repairs/service, half of which I knew to be unnecessary. For example, they recommended I replace the cabin air filter. I had JUST replaced the cabin air filter myself prior to bringing the car in.Also, despite the fact that I was only there for a free recall repair, they performed an engine diagnostic and tried to charge me for it on the back end (to be fair, the check engine light was on, but I told them right when I got there that it has been on for a while and it is not a problem that affects the performance of the car)—luckily, they removed the charge when I objected to the manager.Overall, would not recommend.
We just finalized the leasing of an Atlas through Will Swets here last weekend. From beginning to end, it was a fantastic experience. The process that led to us finalizing the deal was easy, structured and painless. There werent surprises along the way and Will did an amazing job of holding our hands through this entire purchase. From the first call with him to final pen-to-paper, Will was as authentic and considerable a sales person Ive met yet. He didnt try to sell us, but instead match us to the correct vehicle. He asked great clarifying questions that made us double-check what our true intentions were with a new vehicle, and for that we are grateful. Not only was Will great, but our entire experience from first visit to drive-off was pleasant. We felt like Betton did a great job of presenting themselves to us in a friendly way and not a hard-selling way. The building of the relationship between us and them felt very natural and comfortable.Yes, we did request additional info from other dealerships regionally, but they failed in most every way that Will and team excelled. The Atlas we went with not only had more features that we needed (especially along the safety spectrum), but at a cheaper cost than most domestic options. Thanks, Will and Betton - well always remember this as an ideal purchasing experience!
Just purchased a Mercedes E-450 from Jimmy Howard. My experience with Jimmy was outstanding and could not ask for a better transaction. Everyone at the dealership was kind and attentive. I highly recommend buying from Jimmy and the dealership. I am a very happy customer.
I took my Mercedes in for regular b-service maintenance ,and also replace a broken part.Ive had my car for over a week and now my car is worse then when I took it in! Almost 4k down the drain for what!? RIP offs! I just know my car needs fixed asap. Hopefully they have the best certified mechanics as they should. Such stress it has caused me.😡
I had a very difficult time talking with anyone in service. On several occasions I got a very nice woman who answered my call and each time when I was sent to service no one picked up and my call went back to the operator/receptionist. I finally left a message for the sales manager who was involved when I purchased my XC90. He got back to me and after I expressed my frustration arranged to send a valet to pick up my car and leave me a loaner. He also verified that the tow hitch I wanted installed was ordered and would be installed. One interesting issue: a few weeks after my service I got an email encouraging me to replace my wiper blades and implying 5hat the service department had advised m3 of this. No one in service mentioned my wiper blades..
Outstanding purchase experience at Betten Mercedes-Benz, with Raymond Woellhaf as our sales consultant. Highly Recommend both Raymond and Betten Imports. Great attitudes and customer service by all involved.Purchased a new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic. The entire team absolutley knew their products, and went over and above to make the process pleasant/no pressure. We were cross shopping a Volvo and everyone, both Mercedes and Volvo people, were genuinely interested in making sure we got the right model for us.
Worst service ever! Called the service department several times and received no return call. Just called the parts department and Jason was rude! Wish I would have read the other reviews first before attempting to schedule an appointment with this dealership. The receptionist was very nice every time I made an attempt to reach someone in service. Will not ever do business with them again and I do not recommend doing business there.
Like most people (I think), Ive always dreaded the idea of walking into a car dealership. But this weekend I bought a car from Betten and was very pleasantly surprised! Our salesman, Keith Yeager, was patient and knowledgeable. I did not feel pressured to make a purchase and definitely did not feel like he tried to up-sell us on anything. To the contrary, he pointed us to a car that had everything we wanted at a very fair price. Dominic, who handled our financing, was also a pleasure to work with. Thank you both.
There were some differing opinions among the VW Service staff as to whether my 2020 GTI which Ive owned for about six months and has about 2500 miles on the odometer should be in for an oil change based on VW Car Net having alerted the dealership that it was overdue for one. It was decided that the correct answer is ?No.? While my car was in the crew did turn off the oil change light and fixed an annoying rattle that was caused by a rear seat latch in need of adjustment. Less than an hour after driving in I was driving out again. It was great the whole way. Jared Gipe went straight to work on finding the car I wanted. He and the sales manager were able to locate my car and get it to me in just a few days. The sales process was smooth and easy, plus they were able to get a great loan rate for me.
Would not recommend going to this establishment to purchase a car! I unfortunately made the wrong decision and bought a car from this establishment and it has been nothing but unpleasant and a terrible experience! The service here has been awful and rude since the moment I walked in, with the first question I was asked was if I could even afford it! I have had nothing but rude encounters and very unproductive conversation! The lack of communication has also been terribly inconvenient as I bought my car right off the lot in full 3 weeks ago and my license plate still has not been sent to me and has been nothing but a hassle to get with zero communication on there part!! This establishment needs a reality check and needs to improve in every area from customer service to just getting things done and doing the job they promise! I have lost all confidence in this establishment and will not be recommending but warning of the terrible and inconvenient experience you will most likely have! Overall very very disappointing in this establishment and would not recommend anyone going here to buy a car!
I recently bought a new car at Betten. My sales representative, Kevin was wonderful. I had gone to 6 places prior to Betten and had terrible experiences. I knew what I wanted and what I was expecting for my trade. I had told Kevin early in the conversation, that if they couldn’t meet those needs then let me know and I wouldn’t waste my time. Kevin quickly went over things and was able to say they would accommodate that. When the paperwork didn’t perfectly reflect what I had discussed, it was edited and fixed within 2 minutes. I love my new car and would highly recommend buying a car from this dealership and working with Kevin.
Visited here on a snowy day with my boyfriend accompanying me also looking for a new car. Wanted to see a certain model that had been discontinued/updated (E-400 coupe) which is understandable. The guy in the showroom was super helpful in that, but they did have the updated model available to show. We were shown to a pre-owned salesman, John I believe. Who did not seem to be interested at all in working to show me anything similar, comparable, better, different or even the updated newer model (which if properly sold, could have been purchased since I really love this make/model). He wasn’t rude, but a lot of excuses and unwillingness when I asked if there similar I could try/see. He kept saying he didn’t have anything that matched horsepower so it’d be too different...? We came and left after 5 min hitting a dead end with him. Personally, I think pre-owned inventory is extremely limited here - and our specific salesperson was just such a bummer in help shopping for something I was so excited for.So we left and bought two cars by the end of the day: New Jeep Wrangler from Courtesy Dealership and a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-400 4MATIC from Vroom.com; cash :)
Working with Keith Yeager at Betten Imports was a pleasure. He was knowledgeable about the features of the car we bought and committed to helping us make the right purchase decision. I appreciated his sense of how to talk to us about both performance and luxury. Keith enthusiastically took care of us and got us into our (perfectly detailed) car easily, quickly, and confidently. He even found us a better interest rate on our loan! Talk to Keith if you need a Volvo or Mercedes.
I just bought a car with Keith, I basically told him what I wanted and my price range and he found me the perfect one! It was super painless and quick process. I never felt pressured and was very happy with the customer service all around! Definitely will be shopping at Betten from now on for my vehicles! - Also to add keith has been quick to answer any and ALL of my questions during the learning curve of the new car
Lucky are the people of Grand Rapids! When you have a car emergency on the way to a wedding, 12 hours from home, you can only hope to be in the vicinity of Betten Imports. Because this is what happened to us and I have to say when you are in dire straits and you find a place with the resources, expertise and customer service like Betten Imports it is a huge relief. We (barely) made it to their place and from then on we couldn’t have been in better hands. It was like the moment we drove onto their lot, our troubles were shifted from our shoulders onto theirs, and they didn’t mind. The trouble was immediately and accurately diagnosed, the needed part was in stock, they fit us into their schedule the same day, a shuttle service brought us to where we needed to be in the meantime, the car was ready when scheduled, and that all for a very competitive price. It is one thing when you bring your car regularly to a dealership for a checkup and you get good service but I feel the true grit of a place comes out when there is no hope of return business. We couldn’t have asked for more professional, knowledgeable, customer oriented treatment. It was a truly awesome experience. Thank you to all for what you did for us that day.
I bought a car here recently, and had the great pleasure of working with Aaron. I was really happy with the overall experience, Aaron did a really great job, but would like to recommend that the management check into a few opportunities for improvement. First, the warranty information was not accurately reflected in the signature documents. I was told this would be corrected. Second, I noted that the company they use for extended warranty insurance does not enjoy an overall favorable rating with the Better Business Bureau. This is being looked into by the dealership. Overall, very pleased with the dealership experience.
I had the most wonderful experience at Betten Imports! The sales staff(especially Monique) and everyone that I talked to or came into contact with was extremely friendly and helpful. They were upfront about all the fees and costs of buying my new Volkswagen, they were very knowledgeable about the vehicle and concerned with my satisfaction. I have purchased Volkswagen vehicles from other dealerships and have been less than impressed. It was refreshing to have everything be transparent and exactly what they promised. I would highly recommend Betten Imports!
All the lights on my dashboard had lite up & it was beeping at me. I decided to bring my car in to Betten Imports on 10/14/20. I received a text message with the recommendations. The recommendations are as follows: air injection pump (smog pump) secondary air pump supply hose is cracked cause vacuum leak, valve cover gasket replacement cylinder head cover is beginning to leak; vacuum pump leaking engine oil, wiper linkage arms are misaligned, wiper blade replacement streaky, brake flush brake fluid moisture content above 4% flush recommend, boots, wheel bearing service, brake job rear. I okd the engine related portion. I sent another appointment for the wheel related portion. I got another text message stating it was ready for pick up on 10/20/20. However, I did get my car until 10/21/20, because they are open later. Since I left it on the 14th, they had it 7 days. I get there, pay for the services. The worker says, well, the engine light lit up again, do you want us to check it? Why would you tell me my car is ready, had me pay for it, when there was a problem? I told him, yes, because I did not plan on picking up a car that was still having issues. He comes back & tells me the technician wet the coils, which is causing the engine light to come back, but once it dries it will be ok & if not bring it back. I did not drive my car on 10/22/20. I drove it on 10/23/20. The engine light was still on & the car was shaking. Please note, the car never shook until they wet the coils, which was not listed in the findings. I called them & told them my car was shaking, they said to bring it in, I couldnt bring it in on the 23rd(work issue). I brought it back in on 10/26/20. The rep states the issue is the spark plugs. I informed him, my car didnt shake until they wet the coils, but he proceed to tell me its not the coils its the spark plugs. I asked him, where is the coils in connect to the spark plugs. He informs me the coils connect to the spark plugs. Problem number two. Why would we not consider that wetting the coils cause a malfunction to the spark plugs? It is frustrating when this is now the second time I have come in and now its a new problem. Ok. My car was ready on 10/27/20. Was informed that if the lights come back on its the coils. Please remember, they wet the coils, & they had the coils in mind from the beginning, but they said its not the coils this time, its the spark plugs. On 10/29/20, the engine light came back on, AGAIN. The light came back up in the evening. So I called the next day, on 10/30/20. I called twice & left voicemails. My calls were no being return. Since they refused to call me back, I went in person on 11/02/20. They told me a technician would see my car right away. An hour later, they tell me the issue is COILS. I could have my car back Wednesday/Thursday. This is the 3rd CONSECUTIVE week, that I have had to come in ever since they touched my car. In addition, I asked for a loaner car. I asked for a loaner from the beginning of my visit since I still needed to return to work. They told me they didnt have any but they could take me home. No. I have been here 3 weeks in succession and I dont want to be almost a whole week without a vehicle. Be the way, the coils will ONLY cost me $500. The level of miscommunication is disrespectful. My calls werent being returned, then I ask for a loaner & couldnt get one. I didnt get a loaner until I reminded them I have been here 3 weeks in a row. Also, it took them about 45mins to tell me a loaner was 30mins away, but once they got it, it couldnt be release to me for another 2hrs. Why was I not informed of this for the initial request for loaner? I had to come back after work to pick up the loaner. I make this complaint while they still have my car, because I do not feel confident that it will be worked on appropriate unless I file a complaint. The ONLY REASON, they still have my car is because I was not safe driving it back home. What a joke.
If I could give no stars I would, being a Mercedes dealership you would expect top of the line service that is what you pay for , my car was brought into the service center in June (that’s right you heard it June ) I still am waiting to get my car back , all summer !!!! Insurance money wasted for all these months with no car. Called multiple times, every spoke to managers always the same story we are waiting for parts and then have to install them (every week ) . You lost me as a costumer and hopefully everyone that reads this!!! Update I had the car back for 2 weeks and had to bring it back to your dealership for the same problem!!! Now it’s been there again ever since.
Came in for an oil change today. It’s sad to say, but I have had better service at a 15 minute quick lube!!!!!Just bought a Volkswagen Beetle. The original owner bought it off of the showroom floor at Betten a few years ago. All of the service has been done at Betten and I thought I would keep that going.I called for an oil change at the beginning of last week. Their first available appointment for an oil change was nearly a week away. Okay. I scheduled it. I walked in the a gentleman immediately runs to me and asks, “Are you looking to buy a Mercedes?” I was dressed in a suit from work and a designer dress coat. I was actually going on for an oil change. I felt his assumption unnecessary and slightly judgmental. What if I had walked in there in sweatpants and a t-shirt? Would they direct to their used car department?I finally walked downstairs to the service department. I stood there (looking clearly lost) for about 5 minutes. 6 employees looked right at me and continued to walk. I asked a young man “Could I get some help?” and he seemed to not hear me, although he immediately made eye contact. After talking more loudly, he finally heard me.I waiting 14-20 minutes in line as they were helping another guest before even being talked to. When I got there, they said , “Oh, you aren’t getting your tires rotated too?” They he already put it on the sheet and we’re ready to charge me for it. Uhm. No. I said an oil change. My oil change took nearly an hour. I paid and they then told me “You’re all set and the keys are in your vehicle” That also didn’t sit well with me.The thing and really was the final straw were the OIL marks on my car from the workers touching it. I looked at the receptionist, trying to be as nice as possible, and asked, “Is that oil?” She walked away and got some of the service guys who grabbed airisole cans and wiped my car down. They did not apologize once. I left quickly. I honestly couldn’t have left quick enough.I had better service a 15 minute quick lube, which is pretty sad of you ask me.I felt uncomfortable and judged from the second I walked in the door. There were marks in my brand new beetle after an oil change and I had to pay for ANOTHER car wash (I had just got one 10 minutes before bringing my car in). I also felt like they assumed I was not knowledgeable due to being a women, a 24 year old one at that. They wanted to charge me for a tire oration when I literally judge has brand new snow tires put on not even two months ago and my tires were rotated then. Not cool, Betten. Not cool. The ONLY reason I am giving this place two stars is due to Todd, the parts manager. He is very personable and friendly. We had a great conversation while I was waiting on my car. Shoutout to Todd, you rock!I have reached out to their service manager and am looking forward to a reply from him.
So disappointed in sales manager. I’ve been a loyal customer for the last 9 years (3 leased VWs).I tried to get them to work with me on a used vehicle purchase this time but according to manager, there were no concessions he could make. He said you can’t “play” with the numbers on used cars like you can with new. Needless to say, the way I was treated I will never lease or purchase a VW again. I’d give it minus a star if it was available. After voicing my disappointment on the website email I was immediately contacted by manager trying to explain. Lots of excuses, too busy, salesman didn’t explain it correctly etc (salesman was a nice as could be however, his hand were tied).Customer loyalty and excellent credit mean nothing at this dealership at least it didn’t with me.
Having been here several times for my Volvo services, they are the most professional service center I have ever been to. The technicians are efficient and get your car in and out as timely as possible while doing quality work. Though appointments are often difficult to make work as they are often booked out at least a week in advance there is clearly a reason for this. These guys will take car of you and your vehicle like you are one of their own. They are very knowledgeable for all years and models of Volvo vehicles. The service staff is super friendly, and the waiting area is packed with plenty to eat and drink as well as personal offices to complete business in. They dont try to push service sales on you, they tell you what your car is due for and if anything is amiss they will let you know right away. I only give four stars because it is difficult to get them to give you a loaner vehicle while your car is in service. You often have to book for a specific date in order to obtain a loaner vehicle and for a lot of people, myself included, it probably doesnt fit into their busy schedules. Take your Volvo here and you wont regret it, as the saying goes you get what you pay for but at this dealership it feels like your dollar is stretched the extra mile and your business is appreciated.
We had a great experience buying our Tiguan at Betten. Monique was very helpful in finding us the exact car we wanted even though it wasnt on their lot. She found it quickly and gave us a price we were very happy with. They took care of the title transfer for us ahead of time, and their credit application was quick and online so our time at the dealership purchasing the car was quick as well. Monique was very thorough in going over the car with us. She was polite and professional.Their finance agent was extremely helpful too, and very friendly. My wifes phone had no charge to it when we walked in and she charged her phone for her while we filled out the paperwork.Overall top-class experience!
The single star is for the polite woman who answers the phone. Unfortunately, she assured me the service I was scheduling would be covered under warranty, as I told her I would schedule maintenance elsewhere if it wasnt covered. Ultimately none of the service was covered, and I was over charged for an oil change, which I called to question 4 times without anyone calling me back. After finally reaching the manager he responded, if you dont trust us, we dont want you here. Ive had years of tremendous service on the Lakeshore and will gladly continue driving there to save in my pocketbook, sanity, and be treated with respect.
We purchased a 2019 Volvo XC40 in June 2018 from Shay, who was at the time the Volvo sales manager. We heard mixed reviews from many about the service they received from the dealership, but we were so impressed with Shay and her knowledge we took the chance. When the car was delivered, the initial detail was lacking and Shay made it right. Soon after this, she left the company from what I heard was discrimination and harassment — not okay. To make matters worse, a SRS Airbag warning light went off and instructed me to drive the dealership immediately. Over the next year, we spent more time at the dealership than I ever imagined. The car turned out to be a lemon without anyone at Betten (besides Jason in the service department) acknowledging our frustration or disappointment. Not to mention, I was left paying for supposedly one of the safest cars one can buy, with airbags that may or may not work. When we had to meet there to surrender the car this week, no one approached us, apologized, offered to help get us into another car... instead I assume the new Volvo sales manager signed off on paperwork and then proceeded to be extremely condescending and rude to the rep from out of state who handled the surrender. In addition, we had to wait another hour for the notary to return, so there was again a blatant disrespect of our time and lack of planning on their end. Finally it’s worth noting, the dealership environment is outdated and tired. Surely you’d think the only Mercedes and Volvo dealership in town would step their game up, especially being one dealership among many on 28th Street but if they continue to provide a complete lack of service — who knows if they’ll even stand the test of time.Go anywhere but here.
Jonathan and Paul helped me purchase my first car and it was a fantastic experience! I had never bought a car and was unsure all the steps that had to be taken and didnt want to be bullied around at a dealership like so many people warned me about. Jonathan and Paul were both GREAT to work with, helping with each step along the way and not pressuring me into things I did not want. It was the best experience I could have asked for and cant imagine buying a car from any where else! If youre in the market for a new or used car - I highly recommend Betten Imports!
Worst buying experience Ive ever had. I bought a used Cadillac Escalade from here 2 years ago. I was told it was a great car and very well cared for. I trusted the manager as I new him previously They took the car to clean it up before I took possession as there were some minor issues. While in their possession my wheels and tires were stolen.I was told they would be replaced with new chrome rims as they couldnt get the chrome rims from the 2008 model any longer. I had to literally wait months for this to be corrected and had loaner cars the first few months I had this vehicle.Once I got the new trims they replace them with painted rims that they told me were Chrome. They did give me compensation for the error on the rims. The problem was they also put old used tires on the rims with up to four plugs in each tire, (I had ask for new tires to which they agreed) I found this an issue they said put new ones on and they would compensate me for the tires and never did.Next the round of problems where the rear air suspension went out and electrical issues. The took care of rear suspension.Since then front suspension went out, brake issues, air bag issues, motor problems, whole power steering system replaced, power windows master system went out, the wheels they have me peaked and are black underneath, 2 door handles literally ripped out while opening the door. Needless to say Eric my salesman/manage wont return calls.Overall a terrible experience.
I am disappointed and highly upset. Betten Imports does not deserve a star. Your slogan where relationships grow is not true at all. I have warranty and Ive taken my vehicle 3 times! for the same issue! The 3 times that I have taken it, each time I felt like I was not welcomed from the 1st 2nd & 3rd time. The staff made me wait(for a long time, it was not busy) and I felt were deliberately avoiding me. My car has not been fixed to this day. The relationship does not grow because you have avoided me each time... Mr. Matt Sherman you were of no help at all. Please, avoid this company. I do not wish upon my worst enemy, what I went through with Betten Imports.
I had a truly outstanding experience at this dealership. I bought a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta for a steal of a deal, and the dealership interest rate was only 1.9%. They beat even Lake Michigan Credit Union for financing. That was a nice surprise. The salesman, Jimmy, was really knowledgeable and helpful. Not pushy at all. I think Ill be buying all of my future cars from here. They are phenomenal.
Just recently bought a Jetta from Keith. He was able to find me a car with everything I wanted plus more at a great price. Less than a week of having the car I started having transmission issues. Keith made a point to get my car in the shop asap and took care of everything! I could not be happier with the service I have received and will definitely keep doing business with Keith in the future
I went to Betten Imports after seeing a Volvo online. I received prompt email response to a posted question. I worked with Diego Lopez in sales and it was a pleasant, non-pressured experience. I received a very fair amount for my trade in. I would highly recommend working with Diego for your car buying experience. The service staff did an amazing job on detailing the car and I will get free car washes for the life of the car. Great experience overall.
Jason, the Volvo Service Manager, was very professional and knowledgeable. He is always this way and made sure everything was just right with my 60,000 mile check-up for my First Edition XC90! The service staff and technicians are professional, respectful and knowledgeable.
Quick and hassle-free service made getting a car here easy and a great experience. Got a used 2011 Jetta and am loving it. No problems so far and the staff was extremely helpful. Diego was the salesman that helped me pick my car. They also have a very nice lounge for when you are waiting for paperwork or repairs. I would definitely recommend checking out Betten Imports for your next car!
I was incredibly impressed by the customer service at Betten Imports. I worked directly with Diego who worked to find me a Volkswagen Jetta that met not only my budget but all the amenities I was looking for in a vehicle. I also met with Shay who was super helpful with financing. Purchasing a car at Betten Imports was a truly wonderful and seamless process.
Jimmie Howard is the BEST to work with at Betten Imports. His genuine kindness and hospitality made me feel so comfortable going through the grueling process of purchasing a new vehicle. I visited four other dealerships before coming to Betten and I can say with 100% certainty that I was treated the BEST by Jimmie. This was my first time purchasing a car on my own (always had my father with me before) and I definitely felt the female bias at the other dealerships. As soon as I met Jimmie with his warm smile and welcoming attitude I felt at ease. He answered ALL of my questions and made sure I really knew what kind of car I was purchasing and that it fit all of my needs. He has even gone above and beyond and assured me I can contact him anytime I need to in the future regarding my car and he will do his best to help me with what I need. If you are looking for a previously owned vehicle, I strongly recommend asking for Jimmie Howard at Betten. You wont be disappointed!
Kevin did a great job making sure I got the exact vehicle that would suit my needs. I do a lot of driving with in home health care, and needed something that was comfortable and reliable in any conditions. Great personality and followed up to make sure I was happy after the purchase and answered any questioned I had. I would highly recommend that you stop and see him when shopping for a new vehicle. Thanks Kevin.
From the minute my husband and I walked in to the dealership we felt at ease. I had requested a time to test drive a vehicle through their website and was responded to in a very timely manner. We were connected with Rick and he was great. We explained to him what we were looking for and our concerns with certain vehicles. He put our minds at ease and sat with us and explained in detail any questions that we had. Ricks excitement about his job and finding us the perfect car made my husband and I eager to buy from Betten Imports. Thanks Rick for all of your help!!
Ive just recently purchased my fifth car from the people at Betten and I had a great experience. It was the first time Id worked with Jared and it was probably the best experience Ive had. Jared was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and most importantly he listened to what I needed and wanted in a new vehicle and worked with me to make that happen. I hope to deal with Jared for all my future cars going forward, he did a great job!
Very happy with the whole experience! We worked with KeithYeager. He was very friendly and honest. I called and told him which vehicle we wanted to see and asked if he had any others similar to compare. We showed up an hour later and he had 2 vehicles washed and ready to go inside for us to walk around and look at. He let us take our time answered all our questions and was pretty informative. Unfortunately the a/c went out on the veh we purchased and they put it in the deal to have it fixed. They gave us a fair deal on our trade and it was done. We signed on a Monday and picked it up Wednesday. When they walked us to the veh I couldnt believe how it looked. They detailed it beautifully!!! No wax streaks, buff marks or water spots. The inside was amazing!! It smelled so clean and not like they tried to cover up a smell. It was so shinny!!! I would definitely purchase from them again and have them detail my car for sure!!Top notch!! Thank you!!!
I had a wonderful sales experience with Betten Imports. At no time did I feel I was being too aggressively attended to nor did I feel I was not receiving the attention that I would hope for. Betten was juuuust right. After deciding against a new model, my salesperson had the presence of mind to call me when a used model became available and worked with my schedule all the way through the sale. The purchasing process was very fast and easy and the price that I received was more than competitive.I had already used Betten service in the past so it was very rewarding to me to be able to maintain my relationship with Betten Imports as I always find the experience of dealing with them to be wonderful.
I had the pleasure of buying a pre-owned Acura with Keith at Betten. I met his sales manager who gladly shared maintenance records of the car with me. I had been trying to buy a vehicle on Facebook Marketplace, but I found the sellers were less than honest about the condition of their cars. We negotiated a good price at Betten and the car is exactly what I wanted. So nice that Betten had serviced the car properly. Highly recommend Betten if you are looking for a pre-owned vehicle. Keith is an excellent sales person.
Went to Betten because we were in the market for a mid-size SUV and they had the vehicles we were interested in on their lot. We realized that their used vehicles were in much better condition than any other vehicles wed seen @ their competitors. You could tell that they put forth the effort to touch up paint, remove scratches, detail the interiors, fix any dings or dents, etc., It made a good impression on us. Jimmie Howard was the sales consultant that assisted us during our visit, he was busy but handled the client juggling very well and gave us feedback on the cars we looked at and set up the test drives. That was a Saturday and we purchased the car on Monday. We havent had the car long enough to access the quality of the vehicle but I can say that the experience with Betten, Jimmie, the other staff was very positive.
Shenanigans.First trip we walked in and were ignored. I mean stood there for 15 minutes and were seen but completely ignored. Wife wanted to test drive the Tiguan, so we went back a few more times. In the end our sales rep sealed it by saying one thing in the parking lot but another in the office. Outside: If you put a deposit on it we can hold it for you a day or two, then if you decide you dont want it, no problem, we refund the deposit. He referenced Caesars Thumb in a joking manner. Inside, when I offered said deposit so we could think about it for one night: Just a minute, let me go get my manager... Manager was only interested in making the deal right then. It was the day before the end of the month, so my guess is they really wanted to sell a car. At that point the sales guy gave a five minute speech about how we should also buy the leather protection package, and he has it on his own vehicle, and if they cant get the stain out theyll replace your interior... and on, and on. We politely excused ourselves and never went back.I did give a second star as thanks for teaching us how to shop best for cars by the tremendous example of how not to sell. If you want pushy sales people (when you can get their attention) that dont listen, give you their resume twice (forgetting theyve already mentioned their years of experience at a different brand), give this place a try.
Jason with Volvo in service dept is the best service advisor you could ask for! He’s attentive, honest and devoted to giving the best experience, even when your car is not working well. He really goes above and beyond. Betten and customers are lucky to have him! Thank you Jason....
I had the opportunity to work with Diego in the used car department and Shay in Volvo financing. I have never been so impressed by the high level of customer service I received before, throughout and following the sale. They have great quality cars and were great to work with through the process! If youre in the market for a new or used car, go with Betten!
I had an appointment this morning at 9 a.m. to get some recalls fixed on my car. I dropped my car off last night so they would have it this morning. I get a call at 3 p.m. and I am told they have not started working on my car yet. They said they got too busy and did not have time to do it. I made this appointment about 3 weeks ago and there was nobody else on the schedule besides me. I live about 30 miles away from this dealership and I needed my car back so basically I made an appointment for nothing. It wasted my time and my gas. I would not recommend this place.
Let me tell you about my 3-day experience with the Mercedes Service Station at Betten Imports.Im from Iowa and my car broke down on the interstate in Grand Rapids. I had it towed to Betten Imports as it had a Mercedes service station and I reckoned they would be the best people to figure out the issues with my car. Turns out that I had an electrical, computational issue and not a strictly mechanical one. After they had it for two days, they reached out to me on tuesday and told me that they had fixed my car. I paid them for the work, I got into my car, drove it HALF A MILE, and it broke down in the exact same way. There were two mechanics and a service consultant working on my vehicle at the time. After their work, and after how much I paid them, they clearly didnt even bother to road-test the car. This is a massive liability that almost caused me to get into an accident on the busiest street in suburban Grand Rapids. After I got it taken back to the dealership, they had diagnosed that it was an issue with my catalytic converter. How they failed to detect this issue BEFORE they set me back out onto the road is BEYOND me, but I needed to find a place to stay because I had to return to the dealership on Wednesday.Come Wednesday, theyve received my after-market catalytic converter, and they began the replacement. From what research/information I could gather, this process takes a trained mechanic two hours max.At the time of writing this review, I am at the dealership and they have been replacing this part for ELEVEN HOURS and have yet to finish the job so I can make the drive home.As every minute I spend in the waiting room of this dealership passes, my fantasies of its destruction grow more vivid. The natural disasters, the financial failures, the ACTS OF GOD that could, in any way, put this dealership off the map were the only thoughts that gave me any motivation to keep waiting. In all seriousness, the only credit that I could possibly give the Mercedes service aspect of this dealership is that they took my car with no notice. Though it has taken days for any progress to be made, the speed at which they gave attention to my vehicle is appreciated, and is the ONLY reason I gave this place an extra star.I must reiterate, this critique is ONLY targeted to the Mercedes Service Center of the dealership. Im sure this place has a bunch of really cool dudes that sell neato rides. But AT BEST, this service station has lengthy service times (with either intention or incompetence, not sure which ones worse), terrible communication, and the GAUL to have a customer pay to have a broken car taken back onto the street because the mechanics couldnt be BOTHERED to test it.If I had known this is what it wouldve been like when it first broke down, I wouldve hitchhiked home.
The service department is extremely rude. The last time I was in for a simple oil change it took them a total of 2 hours to complete it. It was during the week in the middle of the day. They have a sign saying that it will normally take a little under an hour. So, I went up and said I have been waiting for an hour and a half. The man asked me if I need to be somewhere.... and that it would be another 20 minutes. I found that question appalling and I dont think customers should have to justify their daily plans to receive better service!Today I called to receive a quote for a service that they informed me I needed at my last service. The service guy talked over me, had a horrible tone as if I was putting him off, asked who told me I needed that done to my car(they did) and then told me that they wouldnt be able to quote or even give an estimate quote. I have never been spoken to like that by a customer rep in my entire life! The manager should really care about the tone their employees speak to their customers in.Get it together and treat your repeat customers with a little respect.Customers, look elsewhere. I called a different place and they spoke to me with respect and patience. DO NOT GO HERE!- I am not interested in discussing it further. Not worth the hassle.
Best experience so far. Only my third experience buying a car from a dealer though. Jimmie was very easy going and could not have made my experience more pain free. I got the car for the price I wanted without a hassle. We will see if how the car performs down the road, but the buying experience was first rate.
I had the pleasure of working with Shay Straayer in the leasing of my Volvo SUV this past week. Ive been a Betten customer for the past 10 years and love the attention and service provided. Shay was absolutely the best; so attentive and committed to making sure I was comfortable with the operation of it before leaving. She called me a couple of days later to check in and see if I had any concerns or questions. I highly recommend Shay and Betten Imports!
First encounter was back in 2008 if I remember correctly. Took my wife’s car for an oil change ML320CDI. Before I left the parking lot I pulled out the stick to double check the oil level. The oil was totally black. They did not change the oil but they charged me for. Finally they agreed the oil was not changed and the oil was changed while I witnessed it.Two years ago I took a GL450 for tire swap, winter to summer. They punctured one in a wrong location (according with them), therefore I ended up buying 4 tires.A month ago I took the GL450 for its annual detailing. They damaged the electrical cylinder for trunk door, rear wipe, the trunk door is all scratched up, the glass of the trunk door scratched up, even the windshield has two scratches.Engine compartment was not cleaned, scratched trunk door inside panels.Initially they promised to fix the problems, they replaced the wiper and electrical cylinder but they don’t want to fix all scratches, replace scratched glass etc.(although they promised.A good brand ruined by poor service. The service adviser, the owner of the dealership don’t answer my phone calls or respond to my voice messages. Two weeks later; this is an update.I took the vehicle to a body shop and insurance paid over $3,000.00 to fix the damages. What is really upsetting the owner Greg Betten does not allow my vehicle to even come in for service such as an oil change, not even an issue that supposed to be fixed while the car was under warranty.I’m wondering if they will sell me a vehicle.
Corey at VW really went above and beyond. He has amazing reviews for a reason!!! Got my car covered by the extended warranty and replaced the ECM with basically no charges. Everyone was patient and took time to explain what was wrong and what will need to be replaced and how the diagnostics works. I really recommend this dealership! They really took care of my car and I will continue to do business with them!
The sales process was flawless. The service department however... garbage. My Mercedes was in for warranty work when Betten allowed another customer to GET INTO MY VEHICLE, while it was INSIDE the building. That customer proceeded to back my vehicle into another vehicle, damaging my rear bumper and back quarter pannel.THEN, They provided my Name, address, personal cell phone number, and my vehicle information, including VIN to the driver whole wrecked MY CAR who proceeded to pass it on to his insurance company, and I get a call from THEM! UNBELIEVABLE! My information should be protected by this company, by law, instead they pass it out freely to whomever asks. This customer then made false claims to his insurance company, telling them directly that he had permission from me (by name) taking several hours out of my time to correct his lie While still wondering, how did he get my information and what is he going to do with it.To add insult to injury, Mr. Betten dodged phone calls and ignored attempts to reach him until I showed up in person to discuss and demanded to see him. There still, a month later has not been a complete resolution to the bill, insurance claim, my depreciation or even an apology.Beware..., dont buy here, certainly dont service here, and if you ever want to steal someones identity, just call and ask for information, theyll gladly give it away.
I had a wonderful experience with Better Imports! I had recently lost my vehicle in a flood that hit Isabella county and was in a bind to lease a new car (I had to travel from Michigan to Georgia due to military training). My Sales Consultant, Jared Gipe, worked relentlessly with VW to get me the exact car I desired in as little time as possible.Long story short (too late, I know), the team at Betten Imports went above and beyond helping me during my purchase of a new car. They were kind, honest, and proactive - completely breaking down my preconceived notions that dealerships were dangerous places full of wolves to make a dime.A great thanks to Jared for all of your hard work in helping me! You were absolutely wonderful and I would encourage anybody to purchase a vehicle from you!
The service that I received was awesome! Matt did an excellent job of diagnosing the problem w my Passat. I thought the service was great, pricing was fair, and they were all very friendly and helpful. I had been to 2 previous places who did not give me their time and gave the wrong answers. Betten was great!
The service department is the best Ive experienced anywhere. Their knowledge and attention to detail seem to be second to none, and their rates are very reasonable. While I have an older vehicle, they still treat it like it was new. I may pay a little more to go with them, but they go the extra mile everytime, and the piece of mind I get with knowing it was done right keep me coming back. Customer for life!
I scheduled a service on my vehicle because the ABS/EPS light came on, as well as an oil change. My husband dropped the vehicle off to the Mercedes Service Department on Wednesday, June 21st. He was told it would be ready by noon. In the very late afternoon around 5:00 p.m. he was told it was not ready and wouldnt be ready. They provided a loaner vehicle for him and our 5 kids that accompanied him. The service department advisor, Jim, arranged to have the vehicle delivered to me in Gaylord on Friday, June 23rd around 11:00 a.m. I contacted Jim and he advised that there were difficulties and they had to flat-bed my vehicle back to Grand Rapids from the Big Rapids area as a belt that was replace snapped. I continued to follow up with Jim over the course of the next couple weeks and he advised he wanted to make sure everything was correct and that nothing would happen again. We made arrangements to have the vehicle delivered back to me on Friday, July 16th. I met the driver at my house and as soon as I got there and got out of the vehicle, I said to him (Ron), do you see that, it is sitting slanted. Ron replied, It must be the grade of your driveway. Recognizing that Ron was not a mechanic, and just the driver, I didnt further the conversation. My driveway is approximately 100-200 yards, and when I drove the vehicle to the end, it was clearly not right. I turned it off and on a couple times hoping it would reset and the issue would resolve. I didnt even pull the vehicle out of the driveway and immediately call Jim to speak with him about the issue. We exchanged a couple phone calls as he indicated he needed to speak with the technician and call me back. During the last call from Jim, he advised he would coordinate with the Mercedes Roadside about getting a flat bed back to Grand Rapids and would coordinate having a driver ride with the flat bed and would have a loaner vehicle delivered to me on Monday. I advised I no longer had an extra vehicle at my house and really needed a vehicle. He said he would take care of it.After leaving a couple messages with no response on Monday, I took my vehicle to an ASE Certified Mechanic who advised, within less than one minute that the air bag was pinched and the proper precautions were not taken to disable the electrical system that adjusts the air rise system and when the vehicle was lowered from the hoist it pinched it. Since no response was received on Monday, I called two additional times before I received a call back from David . David said this was not their problem, that their technician wouldnt have done this to the vehicle.I explained I have 5 kids to get around and a job that requires me to drive a lot for court appearances. David didnt seem to care and said it wasnt his problem and he didnt know why Jim promised to have a vehicle to me on Monday (yesterday). I asked to be put on the calendar for a loaner in the interim time until I could figure out what to do.My husband then called and spoke to David and David conveyed to him that this was not their error and that they werent going to be responsible for this and that he wasnt providing a car, that he has already went above and beyond for us.Any time I need work I bring my vehicle to Betten Imports and am treated with courtesy and respect; except this time, which has been a dismal disaster. Im so thoroughly disappointed with this experience.
Happened a few months ago, but I wanted to look at some of the used VW diesel on the lot. I work in the auto industry and have a very solid knowledge of cars but I came into the dealership not trying to be a know it all. The salesperson was nice enough, but kept telling me diesel was not what I wanted.I am one month in with my Mercedes diesel and it is the best car I have ever bought. Just maybe let customers who know what they want, get what they want.
I had the great pleasure of working with Tony to find my dream car. Tony was extremely knowledgeable about the vehicle and was very accommodating of my familys busy schedule. He helped us stay within our budget and made the buying process seamless. It is rare to work with someone in this field as kind, compassionate and honest as Tony.
I have bought 7 brand New vehicles from Betten Imports in the last 15yrs. The way I have just been treated is disheartening. After purchasing this many vehicles from one dealership and being addressed by first name bases when I enter the dealership, I thought I was somewhat like family. I guess our relationship was a oneway street. Two Mercedes Benzes later Im receiving a balance of 1200.00 the first time from a Pull Ahead lease and now 610.00 dollar balance is confusing. I spoke with Jimmie Howard from Betten who was my sales person for all those years, I truly believe tried to pull a fast one. We paid a 3000.00 down payment even though were relocating to another state for this new lease and theyre stating that we owe a balance. Now they do understand I have paid close attention over 15 yrs to the lease process, and know when you get a payoff, thats all the monies owed. Dominique Jackson did the financing paperwork and somehow forgot to add one or two payments? Not possible!!! Someone pocketed some of that deposit and Im not having that. This is how Betten Imports do there super loyal customers? If so, watch out new customers!!! This is not over by no means Betten Imports of Grand Rapids, MI.
I recently bought a 2013 Volkswagen Passat from Betten Imports and I just love it! Ive only had the car for a week, but so far Im really excited about the purchase. Diego was great about helping me find a vehicle I liked, and he worked really hard to make sure I was able to leave there a satisfied customer! I would most definitely recommend Betten Imports, and Diego specifically!
I have been looking for a used vehicle for a while. Jimmie Howard was busy helping a couple of other shoppers, but made a point of stopping by to make sure I was being taken care of. Jimmie took the time to go on the test drive with me and show me options that I was not familiar with. He was great at helping me to choose a car to meet my needs and he never made me feel pressured as I had at other dealerships.Everyone I dealt with at the dealership was helpful and made my experience a positive one!
I worked with Diego Lopez back in 2013 in leasing a MB C300, then I purchased a Volvo and now a MB C450AMG. I live in GA and cannot tell you how wonderful his service is. I will fly into MI to work with him. He has a great charisma and a wonderful understanding of what the customer wants and needs. I would HIGHLY suggest going to see him if youre interested in changing up your car situation. He is quick to answer any and all questions and VERY informative. Not to mention he is a lot of fun. 10/10!
Went in to purchase a 2015 Jetta. Bernard got me the exact car I wanted (had to get it from another dealership) He was VERY helpful, very nice, laid back. He went over all the options I could chose, between buying & leasing. Definitely recommend him to anyone that is looking to purchase a new car. He knows his stuff & he isnt pushy at all. Best salesman I have met!!
We had a great experience buying a new Volkswagen from Betten Imports. Chris was able to answer all our questions, provided the right amount of follow-up (not too pushy), and went above any beyond to make sure we were satisfied. We look forward to working with Chris and his colleagues again in the future.
We visited this car dealer on 10/29/2014 and had a check to buy a vehicle. The salesperson Diego told us that he would get the car ready so we could test drive it. We were coming from an hour away, and when we got there he was doing the financing on it for another couple. I offered to put a downpayment deposit on it, but he did not let me. He is not someone I recommend doing business with.
Best car buying experience I have ever had. None of the other VW dealers had a Jetta with a manual transmission in stock, but Jared Gipe at Betten Imports found one for me and had it ready for delivery three days later with a winter package option that, in hindsight, was something I really wanted (love those heated seats!). To top it all off, the price was well under what I was expecting to pay .All in all I got a great car from a great saleman and a great dealership. Thanks Jared and Betten Imports!
I went to Grand Rapids Toyota looking for a lease. The sales people seemed despondent. I then went down the road to Fox Ford. The salesman was very informative but appeared disinterested. I then went to Betten Imports and met a very dignified professional salesman with a South African accent. He took the time and had a genuine interest in my needs. A very short time later (about 1 hour), I was driving a new Jetta out of the lot. Ive had nothing but compliments on this amazing vehicle. And I have nothing but compliments for Bettens high quality service and professional salesman. I would recommend this dealership to anyone. Another kicker is that youll get much more for your money than Toyota or Ford!!Ben
We needed low cost, dependable transportation -- normally not what youd go to a high end dealer looking for. We found a one-owner, impeccably maintained VW Passat right where the pricing needed to be. They were great to work with, no pressure, and right price. Only hold up is the finance guy -- we paid cash, but still had to wait to do all the paperwork with the finance guy, which pushed our sale out a day longer than we had planned... but that was the only glitch.
Today I tried to schedule an appointment for service for an under warranty Mercedes. I was told the earliest they could get me in was in two (2) weeks. I asked what would they do if I had a no start condition, and was told it would be the same. Called another Mercedes dealer and made an appointment this week with a loaner provided without me asking. I cancelled my two (2) week appt. Very disappointing.
A lot of reviews about how poor the service department is.....and its all accurate! Theres zero pride in the work here, in the treatment of customers, in the standards of service. Chris and Kim Smith.....your review is outrageous if its true, you should sue the heck out of them. They really dont care, clearly the owner isnt even smart enough to pay a social media/seo company to auto-respond to reviews from customers. Theyre making enough money to pay their dues at the country club, so why would they care right? Shame a business can get this big, being run so poorly.
Purchased a used car and Diego Lopez was my sales person. I found Diego to be knowledgeable, helpful and never pushy. He explained all the ins and outs of the car and even blue toothed my phone to the car before I test drove it. Diego was responsive and quick to return calls. Even after the sale was complete and there were a couple repairs, Diego never left me hanging or made me feel second best because the sale was done. He even returned my calls on his day off. I found everyone at Betten helpful and will be returning to Betten for any car purchases in the future. Thanks Diego!
My husband and I bought a car at Betten Imports this month. Our sales person was named Randy and he was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and thorough. The only negative came when Randy had to turn us over to his associate Diego. Randy had some other customers come in to pick up a car that they had purchased earlier. The comparison between the two sales persons was startling. Perhaps Diego is very new and has not received any training. That is what is seemed like to us. He was very flippant when he gave us the keys to test drive a car. We had already test drove one that Randy had prepared for us. Randy had turned on the air and let it run before we got into the car so it wouldnt be a hot car. Randy explained the cruise controls, radio, etc.. Diego just tossed us the keys to a hot car and sent us on our way. Randy could not have been more professional and Diego could not have been less professional. Further, Diego was consistently rude to my husband. He even made snide comments about my husband to me. I was very offended by his lack of manners and rude behavior. It is clear that Diego is not suited to deal with the public and should be kept away from customers. All and all I would give my experience a mixed review. Randy could not have been more helpful, knowledgeable, cheerful and kind. His helper Diego should find another occupation. He is not suited for his current position.
Since moving my VW to Grand Rapids I know its in good hands here. Corey and the other guys at the VW desk are very knowledgeable and professional with their follow up. You truly get top-tier service and expect to be taken care of from start to finish. I will not take my car anywhere else for service other than Betten Imports.
I, first of all, have received special treatment and care over the 4 VWs Ive leased from Betten over the many years. I have gotten very friendly and professional treatment from the sales people and especially the maintenance department when I brought my VWs in for upkeep and service. The waiting room with all the comforts of home is special and allows me to use my time effectively while waiting for the service to be completed. The choice of a vehicle was either on sight or was ordered specially for me in a timely manner. Monique Conkey helped me with all the paper work and spent a great deal of time introducing me to my new Passat and all its features. She called me today to see how I was doing with using my Passat and offered me to call any time with any questions.I hope to continue doing business with Betten in the future.J. William Morrison
Purchased two vehicles from Betten. Smooth process and they offer life time car washes as a perk. However plan to wait 15-20 minutes for the free car wash. The visitor area is well kept and clean. Offer fresh coffee and snacks while waiting for maintenance on vehicles.
Monique was our sales person and we were very impressed with her knowledge of her products, she was friendly and professional. I came back in when it was Moniques day off and she had arranged for Collin, an associate and he was professional as well. Monique and team made the buying process a breeze. We highly recommend Betten Imports.
I went in to trade my salvage title crosstrek, they gave me a great price in trade for a Subaru BRZ, I dealt directly with Keith Yeager, was very impressed with him, at times I felt rushed by Monique during signing as she was giving me the papers I would look to kind of read through what I was signing like anyone else would do and she kept pointing where to sign very impatiently but it was near the end of the day and people wanted to get home but found it not very comforting. Other than that Keith was a pleasure to work with and he will definitely have my business in the future.
I brought my Mercedes to Betten with a couple minor issues that I was made to feel like I made up at another dealership, and they were unable to fix them. It truly is a frustration when you are told to bring in your vehicle again and again with no results. I decided to come to Betten even though it is a lot further from me and I am so glad I did!My Mercedes was perfect and Betten was a joy to deal with. I will come here from now on.
Check engine light came on this weekend in my wifes Volvo XC70. Which up until today had been serviced exclusively at Betten since we moved to GR in 2016. I stopped by dealership this morning and asked if they could check to code to make sure the car was safe to drive. Side note, shes 9 months pregnant and primary transporter of our toddler. Imagine my disappointment when the service host said, No, sorry were too busy. I drove down 28th street to OReilly auto parts and it took the gentleman 3 minutes to run the diagnostic.Shame on you Betten.
I purchased a pre-owned Cadillac Escalade from the Betten Imports team about two months ago. Upon delivery an undetected major mechanical issue was revealed. I was anxious about this as I wasnt sure what kind of issues I would run into. Wow! I couldnt be more pleased. They took ownership of the situation and fixed my truck immediately. This told me they want me back as a customer, and I couldnt be more pleased with the transaction! Hats off to the Betten Team for this tremendous display of Integrity!
I went with my daugher to purchase her first car, i crawled under it, etc. I did the best I could as my dad always did this and he had just passed away. I had to leave and my daughter was going to go back with what paperwork she needed. I was unable to go back with her. But while i was there, I asked if the car had been in an accident, due to I could see where the paint changed and the tach and one other one on the dash was cracked and the guy said no, but he would get a carfax and send it home with my daughter. I realize in buying a used car it will not be perfect, however lying to someone is poor ethics. They had a sticky plastic on the carpet in the front seat, I assumed it was to protect the carpet until she got mats. We pull the sticky plastic off and what do I find, the carpet is ripped almost in a circle to where you can see the material that is under the carpet. The same side as the cracked part of the dash, paint issue and the front inside the grill is all cracked and buldging out. It actually looks like it is getting worse. The air dam is broke, there is a bent screw towards the transmission area and on the drivers side (where all of the problems are) the headlights do not align up with the car the same as the right and isnt even hooked in. When we arrived there, I asked the manager if they do inspections on their used cars, he stated yes, we fix what may need fixed, otherwise they go to auction. What a bold face lie. This was bought a week and 1/2 ago, I have left a couple messages now and cannot seem to get a call back. We actually were going to take the car back while it was within the 3 day law in michigan, but we were told this could be made right. Now the guy doesnt work there anymore. How convenient! They didnt even fill up her transmission fluid, nothing. I have bought several cars in my years, most new but a few used and this is the poorest deal Ive expierienced. I knew I should have went out to Muskegons Betten. I hope they fix this mulitude of lies or I have no problem pursuing the matter.
I took my car in for service and left with engine light on dash and car broken where they fixed the issue. They lied to me saying they would come bring me a loaner and fix my car they broke. I am now waiting 30 days for a scheduled appointment so I can use a loaner car. Meanwhile my back window is unsealed and it is winter!! UNBELIEVABLE GREG Benton even refused to do what was right.
Many times I have left saying I will never return, however, I dont have the time to go to Kalamazoo or Lansing, so back to Betten I must go. My list is too long to type here but it mainly revolves around VW service, warranty work and VW express oil change. The main gripe regarded warranty work they wouldnt honor or work they tried to get me to pay for instead of fixing the issue that was covered under warranty. After trying to charge me thousands of dollars for services not needed , they told me there was nothing they could do for my VW. Took my vehicle to Suburban VW of Farmington Hills where it was fixed under warranty without question. Wont own another VW again, certainly would never take it to Betten. Only reason I come back is for parts, for my Volvo. Todd is the best thing the parts department has going for them. Volvo service is also far superior to VW service, but Im still on guard any time I step foot in that building. The last two times Ive been in there I havent had to say Im never coming back...
My sales person was Monique Conkey, and because she was honest and efficient, I decided to purchase another vehicle from this dealer. I have been their customer for over six years now. I did not have any issues with any of their services. I would recommend this dealership to others.
I am another repair shop, have a employee that had to have emergency surgery and will be out for 3 months, he took customers vehicle apart and then had emergency. called and asked for help with service procedure no one will return calls. left messages for service manager Jason, no calls in three days I even called to talk to general manager, left message and again no call. called back for 4th time and was told we cant help you, I buy parts from dealership, but not no more, I think it said that you wont help,
Shay Straayer built out an excellent V60 for my family. Her execution and attention to detail is far superior to others in the import motors field. We traveled over an hour to take delivery of our new car and Shay stay well after the store closed to ensure that we were taken care of. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend.
The Mercedes Benz service department is awful ( almost 20 years of dealing with them), in fact the worst I have ever dealt with ( Have used Lober, MB of Naples, FL, MB of Naperville, IL, Hayes in K-Zoo, and MB in Missoula, MT all easy to deal with all offered loaner while S Class was in for service). Jim Vandekieft has lost my keys, mislead me several occasions about when car would be done, days after it was supposed to be. He had the audacity to ask me to wait while he help the person behind in line behind me even though I was first inline at opening time, stating he wasnt sure how my keys could have been lost. I have had my entire engine cover on my ML missplaced by techs, Jim stated I would have to purchase a new one that he was not responsible for it, funny enough it showed up a couple of days later. On that same visit I was treated to a large greasy hand print on my headliner, that one really stump them.
After driving 100 miles west to the Autobarn Countryside Volkswagen dealership in Chicago and getting frustrated with their pricing games, I drove 100 miles north to Betten Imports in Grand Rapids. I had completed my research online and narrowed down my choices to three cars at three different dealerships. Jimmie had responded to my pricing request shortly after my inquiry. I had set up a time to meet with Jimmie and I knew which car I wanted to test drive when I arrived at the dealership. During the test drive, Jimmie was very helpful and seemed very knowledgeable about Volkswagen. Doug, the pre-owned manager, introduced himself shortly after Jimmie and I started to negotiate our deal. Doug seemed like a very honest person to work with and showed me the method used to set the asking price. Doug also helped with the final negotiation. Jimmie and Doug suggested Volkswagen for our financing and were able to beat a very good 2.9% rate from our bank. I was very pleased with my experience with Betten Imports and I hope to make additional purchases in the future.
Betten Imports cares about one thing, and that’s the customer. Every person I met, or talked with had expertise not only about VW cars but offered their assistance wherever possible. Jimmy Howard Is extremely appreciated as he does need to pressure you to make the right decision. If you want to trust a car dealer, and know that no matter what you will be helped and the center of what you need, Betten Imports is the dealer to buy or lease a car. And VWs are awesome car; they are reliable and basically service free.Thank you Betten Imports,Denise
Definitely wouldnt recommend for purchasing a used vehicle. Walked in yesterday around 700/715pm, cash in hand (unknown to them), hoping to convince my wife of jumping for a used Q7 or similar. Overall very unwelcoming. Todd(?) made it a priority and stated three separate times that he was leaving at 8 regardless of our intentions. “We don’t do test drives this late.” I understand we came in towards the tail end of a long day, and I am sorry about that, however, my wife and I dont both have 8-4 jobs. Word of advice, if you want to close by 8, change the store hours from 9am-7pm on Wednesdays. There is a reason Fox group is the largest in GR and you proved it yesterday.
I worked with Jimmie Howard while purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned VW Golf TDI earlier this week. This was the first car I have ever purchased, and he did a fantastic job of walking me through the process and making it fun. Never once did I feel that I was being pressured to make a purchase.I havent had to go back in for service yet, but if Im treated as well then as I was while buying the car, Ill be extremely happy.
We have purchashed many vehicles from Betten Imports over the years and have had a very enjoyable experience each and every time. Our sales person Bernard is bar none the best and most knowledgable sales person. In addition, Kim the VW sales manager is willing to go out of his way to make sure our expereince and customer service at Betten was the best. I would highly recommend Betton not only for high quality German made vehicles, but the best customer experience in the business.Kurt Freund
The concern and care was beyond anything I have ever experienced. I sent an E-mail and Monique Conkey, from Sales responded immediately. I scheduled an appointment. The team of Betton Imports was ready the minute I walked in the door. They had fit the car to my disabilities before I came in and my experience was the best service I have ever received from a car dealership. Many thanks to Monique Conkey ; Sales, Kim Thompson; Manager, Paul Vanderhart; Finance. I love my Passat.
Now that my new purchase is 3 years old. First was dual mass flywheel had issues which I was told this is $3500 and not a warrantied part......VW in Germany said it is. Now the ECM Particulate Filter which is an issue which is covered under the warranty, extended warranty, even the EPA warranty..... Yet the Betten dealership wants to try and get $2100 out of me on the warrantied issue. My advice always check your warranty because this dealerships service manager is either clueless on their vehicles warranty or they are trying to screw everyone. I just dont understand how their salesmen know the warranties like the back of their hands and the entire service department is lost. I can assure you I love my VW but I will never buy another from Betten. Go to the VW out in Muskegon.
This business follows the poor (and often stereotypical) sales practices of a car dealership. The salespeople are not interested in your needs, wants, or concerns, but instead are interested in the sale. Do not trust what they tell you. Find outside sources to help you make a wise choice, and you must know cars, sales, and business practices to purchase wisely from this business. Buyer beware.
We recently purchased a used car at Betten Imports are were very happy with level of service we received from Monique C. She assisted us with testing multiple vehicles until we found the right fit, and then went out of her way to help process our application during a very busy time.
I purchased a new VW Jetta TDI. Within a couple hundred miles, I noticed it was drifting to the left. I brought it in, and I was still forced to pay $130 for a realignment. ON A NEW CAR! Further, they only offer the first oil change for free. Im having to pay $65 for each one now. What a ripoff! These people are stingy and greedy. They offer no remorse for the emission scandal. The only plus side is that they have free cookies, in the waiting room.
I want to start with Diego is a great salesman, and he really tried to help me. His boss in used cars is NOT!!! I bought a jeep compass and 30 days ago i have had to replace tie rods, front struts, a fog light they said they were going to take care of and didnt, and a headlight contector. I know they dont have to anything but you would think a place like betten would care a little. I called and Diegos boss says theres nothing we can do. Ive spent $800 on a jeep i just bought 30 days ago and this douche bag boss in used cars refuses to do ANYTHING not even a free car wash. This guy is a joke and i hope he slips on some ice and knocks his front teeth out. Besides Diego one of the worst experiences buying a car EVER!!! DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM BETTER IMPORTS!!!!!
I just purchased at new 2014 E350 from Betten Imports and once again they are awesome. This is the my 2nd MB and before that Ive purchased several VW from them. They are never pushy BUT always very helpful and honest! If your looking for great sales/service Betten Imports will surpass your expectations.Dale Stuckey
I made the mistake of purchasing a second vehicle from these guys. I had a Mercedes I purchased here a few years back that was nothing but problems. I got a BMW from them in december of 2012 (both used). The car is a lemon. In the past 6 months I have put $3000 into it and it needs another $1500. When I inspected the car I mentioned that I believe there to be an oil leak, they assured me there was not. Turns out... oil leak. They blatently lied to me. It is in your best interest not to go to this dealership. If you are looking for a used Import go to Prestige Imports on 29th street. Its what I should have done. They have been doing all the work on my BMW and they have been great. Buyer beware here
I had numerous questions regarding my Volvo. In the parts department,Todd Shively, answered all of them and checked with the technician just to make sure that I was getting the most accurate information. Afterwards I bought the necessary parts and fixed all of the problems. Thank you Todd for your help and friendly demeanor. I will refer my friends to this place as well.
Betten Imports is DREADFUL! I bought a brand new VW Golf which gave me so much trouble from the start. And this is supposed to be a brand new car. Additionally their service centers also rip off. Ive had engine oil problems within a week of the so called oil change. Very unprofessional and unethical overall. I wish I had known this prior to throwing money at this place.I would give zero stars if i could.
I expect return phone calls when I leave a message for the service adviser. After over a week of no response I finally tried calling them again. After getting passed around the phone tree I was finally able to talk to someone who didnt offer much help. I consider this an indication of sub-par service and have no intention of doing business with Betten Imports in Grand Rapids.
Bought my car from Diego over at the used car lot . I work for a different car dealership and I recommend them over where I work, He was a super nice guy and really willing to work with me and was able to get me in the exact car I wanted even with bad credit score and negative equity on my trade in car definitely recommend and will buy my next car from them when I will need a new one (which probably wont be for quite some time
In a word, outstanding, due primarily (exclusively?) to Shays attention to our recent lease of the 2016 XC70. Descriptors would include, but are not limited to, professionalism, knowledge and preparation, detail orientation, low-key but persistent follow-up, responsiveness regardless of the significance, trustworthiness, and lets be honest, image and sunny disposition. Now how often do you hear of these terms associated with a car salesperson?
Hi there, My name is Annette Shafer. So far, I cant say enough good about this dealership. I am very impressed with the very professional and friendly staff that they have. I have personally met Shay Straayer, Eric Mock, Paul Vanderhart, Dominic Jackson and they are all are very nice and helpful. You will leave satisfied and happy, so come on in and check theyre inventory out.
Worst customer service. They keep you on hold for long time and keep you in loop. The front desk folks doesn’t have the courtesy to listen. After a long discussion, they transferred to the manager and the call went into loop again. This is the worst service I experienced ever.
Diego was the best salesman ive seen in a long time. A friend and I went into Betten to each get a car and with our limited credit history and a short working history because we just moved here diego sat us down and told us what we needed to do to get into a car we wanted...we followed diegos tips and boom were both in nice cars.

2022-06-04Great people work at Betten Imports! They have a culture of service, and kindness. I drive an Audi and was traveling a long distance when my tire pressure light went off. The service department, even though it was closing time filled my tires and gave me directions and advice on how to get safely home. Excellent humans. So grateful. We’re it not for their great service staff I’d have been stranded on the side of the road. 5 Stars are not enough. I’m going to think about this experience for time to come and am paying it forward. Thank you Betten Service!!

2022-04-19Recently bought a used car at Betten Imports. Got in touch with Carson about the car we were interested in and he was wonderful! We live about an hour away, and he had everything ready for us when we arrived to save us some time. The whole process was very smooth, and I would absolutely return here when Im in the market for my next vehicle!

2022-08-03Took my Volvo in for service, couldnt be happier it turned out to be a software update - no charge! Eric Allen, and Jason Jeffrey along with their team good care of me and I was pleasantly surprised at the result.Recently my trust in the Volvo brand had been flagging but this experience has bolstered my opinion of the name plate .I plan on visiting this dealership as my primary service facility, even though I live over 100 miles away.

2022-07-19I am writing this on behalf of my family. I would give this place ZERO stars if google did not make the minimum rating one star. This dealership is a SCAM. This has been public knowledge for years but unfortunately with limited dealerships in West Michigan, you dont have many options. If you care about a high quality vehicle, honesty and respect this is NOT the place to go. After my familys experience and word from others, it is a matter of time before Mercedes Benz International closes this location. They are selling FAKE WARRANTIES. They show you a full colored brochure of a warranty which claims everything is covered. They proceed to hand you the paperwork to sign. Then when the time comes for a warranty repair, they state the brochure you were shown was not the one they sell. We still have the brochure and receipt from the DAY OF TRANSACTION! They play games with the customers, lie, and cheat people out of thousands of dollars. In addition, they lack all correspondence in addressing the matter. After speaking with other friends and neighbors in Cascade, they all had similar or worse experience with Betten Imports. The sales manager ERIC MOCK lacked every bit of professionalism and is a con-artist along side of the owners of this dealership. His qualifications would mearly make him capable of obtaining a job at Ford.UPDATE: the “owner” commented on my review and is completely incompetent. This message is on behalf of my family which has the same last name. For him to also state I live in California is considered stalking and I will be addressing that legally. It’s unfortunate such a low life individual and business would continue to tarnish their image publicly. Clearly they lack all professionalism. I drive a BMW and Range Rover and the service is exceptional wherever I have purchased or serviced compared to Betten Imports. I will encourage all my family members, many executive friends and former colleagues in Grand Rapids to avoid purchasing their vehicles at Betten. It is worth their time to drive to Chicago for purchase instead.

2022-03-04Just purchased a Mercedes from Nick Nystrom of Betten imports! He was an absolute pleasure to work with! He made the entire process go smoothly and efficiently! He was very informative and helped with anything I asked! Great communication and very knowledgeable! Couldn’t have asked for better service! Thanks, Nick, for everything! I absolutely LOVE my GLC!! Highly recommend working with Nick!

2022-07-05Absolutely avoid at all costs. We came in for an oil change, when we left the check engine light came on for the car. We were told that this is normal and it happens all the time. We protested and told them the car only has 55k miles and that we did not come in with any issues. They stated that they do not want to pay for it as it could happen at any time. We’ve purchased several cars from this place, due to Eric’s rudeness, and the negligence shown we will never come here again.

2022-03-09First time getting my Passat serviced. It was a simple oil change but the experience was great. Josh was a fantastic service advisor, he seemed to enjoy his job and treated me like a regular person. I’m looking forward to using Betten Imports in the future.

2022-04-24Bought a vehicle. Everything is great with it so far. The people we talked to were nice. Car was ready when we got there. Minimal buzzards circling. Probably because I dont look like I can afford a Mercedes. Thats fair though. I do look like a dirtbag.
