Comment: Shoaib and his team was recommended to me since this year my tax case became more complicated than what I could handle by myself or with the typical pro advice you will normally find in the mainstream tax preparers like H&R Block. Shoaib did not disappoint. His team (specifically Eric L. who was the CPA handling my case) not only found all relevant information pertinent to my case, they were very responsive and always had a very detailed answer to my questions. They have been handling multi-state cases (one case had more than 40 states in one tax year, mine had only two), cases with rental income, self-employment cases and more. It made me very confident to see that my unique tax situations were something common for them to the point my case that I thought was difficult was a walk in the park for his team.One thing that amazed me was their communication and punctuality. I engaged them a bit late in the process for the 2022 tax year. Exactly when they were the most busy. However, they were upfront in mentioning a timeline on when I will get the first draft of my tax return and they delivered it exactly on the day and time they said they would. Any follow-up questions I had were answered within 24 hours with all the details required to make me realize I had made the right choice to trust them with my case.Their price is worth it for the peace of mind you get!

My mom loves that any time she has a question she can call and the office immediately answers and kindly answers any question, even a “silly” one. My dad admits he’s not very “tech-y” and he appreciates that the office will “hold his hand” through any questions. The online portals have been difficult for both parents, and I had a broken scanner, and the office had no problem helping us through the “tech-y” bits. We are so impressed with Shoaib’s knowledge, professionalism, and efficiency, but we especially appreciate his patience and kindness at all times. Ismail has a short temper and at one point was yelling at me on the phone because he didn’t want to own up to his mistakes. Comment: For years, I relied upon advice from professional peers as to how to claim and categorize my business expenses, utilizing online tax software to personally prepare my returns. I even purchased audit defense options to assist me in the event of an audit. This proved to be a mistake. Following a federal audit, my entire Schedule C was disallowed, exposing me to a sizable tax liability that I felt was unwarranted. So I finally decided to stop “cutting corners” and reach out to a true tax professional. I’m so glad I found and chose to work with Bharmal & Associates. Their entire team was gracious and reassuring from the outset. And they worked diligently with me throughout an extended, multi-year appeals process to correct my mistakes and resubmit my returns for the time period in question. When the dust had settled, my amended Schedule C was accepted by the IRS, and I ended up with a tax liability that was only 15% of what I’d been facing. Even with the service fees involved, the result proved to be a bargain. Based on this experience, I’ve asked the Bharmal team to prepare my taxes going forward. And despite my flawed record-keeping, they’ve kindly agreed. To Ismail and team, I extend my devoted appreciation for alleviating the stress accompanying these circumstances, and for enabling me to “get it right” in the future. The expense of doing so is well worth the peace of mind!

I was in a search for over a year to find the right CPA for my business and after going through a whole lot of horrific experiences, Ismail & his team are the only ones who are able to support me & my business as if we are there own. Obviously they have many other businesses to handle, but they somehow always make it seem like I am their only priority. They are easily accessible during business hours, return phone calls within the hour, excellent at sharing updates, and beyond organized & knowledgeable in every aspect of business. Of course running a business is an owner’s job, but there are many other legal aspects that most owners would have no idea about including IRS payments & deadlines, FTB status, payroll deductions, and more. In addition, Ismail makes continuous suggestions on how to better manage cash flow & cut costs after doing his very best to understand your specific business & its needs. My husband and I were worried about filing our taxes this year because its the most weve ever made and it was the first year I was filing a Schedule C for my sole proprietorship. We did a free tax/business consultation last year (2020) and were told to call and schedule our tax appointment early this year (2021). Shoaib was very kind and explained everything—including the differences in businesses (sole proprietorship, S Corp, LLC, etc.) and what write-offs would be applicable. When we called them this year (2021) they said theyre asking clients to upload everything so no face-to-face meetings are required. This is brilliant considering the times we live in. My husband and I spent a couple hours uploading docs and within ten days we had the results of our return—and we ended up having to pay half of what we had expected. During those ten days, they even reached out to us because they realized wed benefit from other write-offs we had forgotten about. After looking at the results, Shoaib had a phone meeting with us so we could go over any questions we had. We really feel so grateful to this company (particular Shoaib and Katherine—his assistant) and cant recommend them enough. Their fee was fair compared to other tax companies/accountants, and the service was outstanding. We will be lifelong clients of theirs and forever recommend them to our family and friends.

Comment: I have used TurboTax to do my Federal and State taxes for years but this year I ran into a problem with a K-1 Statement for a partnership that ended in 2019 and I just couldnt figure it out using TurboTax. I asked Bharmal for help based on all of the great Yelp reviews and I am so glad I did. They made it easy to upload my tax documents and had draft tax returns ready for my review within a few days. Everything was online because of COVID but it wasnt a big deal. The best bit is I ended up paying less tax than I was expecting based on TurboTax. Considering the cost of the software and my time, I think its bye bye TurboTax and hello Bharmal for my taxes from now on.

Shoaib was the only one who understood that the best way to give me a quote wasnt the typical free consultation (which he did kindly offer!), but to actually read through the document.Eventually it turned out that my situation wasnt the best fit for the firm, and Shoaib candidly let me know. By comparison, another professional I spoke with told me Yes we have expertise in all these areas, itll be $10k, without much work to truly understand my situation or expand on what that expertise entailed.Much prefer Shoaibs straight up honest approach.

When you read the accolades from those reviews, you would be foolish NOT to give them a call.I called and spoke to a person named Katherine. She is very friendly, easy to talk to, and yet professional and knowledgeable. She explained that they were offering a free (NO COST) 30 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs. They would propose a course of action and give you an estimate of the costs. She set up a phone meeting for me the very next day. I took the initiative to send her some bullet points on my situation to make the best use of the 30 minute free consultation. (time is money)Ismail Bharmal called me at the precise time of the meeting. He was also very friendly and informative. He had looked over those bullet points I sent, so he was already up to speed about what I needed and proposed a plan to meet my needs. We did spend all 30 minutes discussing his company, the expertise of his staff, and my project. Most of all, you could just tell the pride and personal concern he has for his customers satisfaction. Before my appointment with the IRS, Shoaib provided various documentation, as well as past successful examples of letters, that I could leverage. I spoke with him first about the possibility of amending my taxes for two previous years - and he took a look through my returns first just to see if it would even be worth it for me. He was very upfront and honest in his assessment of my situation and possible outcomes, and prepared both years (and this years) tax returns very quickly. The system Bharmal and Associates has let me simply upload all of my documents - so no need to carry around all those receipts and all that paperwork.
