Miles was so kind to come out immediately from behind the counter, and helped me, every though i was not a customer. I was back on the road in no time. Such kindness is not as easy to find these days. Thank you so much Miles for your kindness.

Comment: NOTE: DONT BE FOULED BY THE GENERIC REPLY MESSAGE of how truly sorry they are, I complained to the corporate, they never got back to me and when I called back they said the case was closed.I took my car to replace the 4 tires. I was told it would take 2 to 2.5hours. It was 10:30am. I called in at 2pm, I was told my car was on the lift and they started working on it, and should take about an hour.I went there at 3pm and saw the car getting up the lift JUST then. I waited an hour and half at the store. When they moved the car to do the alignement, I walked over and noticed a big dent/scratch on the side skirt of the car. Clearly fresh, the pain was still pealing off with no dirt or anything. They said that it didnt happened there. They have dozens of camera, I asked them to check to see if it was there when it was parked on the lot and or any other time the car was moving. We checked one camera, the one that showed that the damage was already done when they took it from the tire replacing station to the alignement but could not magically show any other videos. I got in touch with the owner to ask to review videos of the car when it was parked on their lot and moved to see if the dent was there, but they cand do it. To be honest, I am not 100% sure the dent happened there, but there is no way on earth that it happened under my watch and I didnt feel it driving. Needless to say I am never going back there.

Sam Morales helped me out and unfortunately the car from Carvana did not have the wheel needed in order to take the back right passenger tire off to either fix it or replace it. But the service level here at Big O was wonderful wonderful given the limitations they had regarding this car.

After waiting for 1.30 hours they tell me my tires are 3/32 and won’t be able to patch it. I went to another store- they told me my tires are 4/32 and put a patch in in 4 minutes! Avoid all costs !

Comment: I made an appointment. It was confirmed. I was told it would be an hour wait so I decided to grab lunch and come back. 1.5 hours later my car was still not moved into the shop. It appeared that techs were short handed but I was surprised that no action was taken by the office to deny or postpone my appointment. Long story short, after asking for 2 additional updates on my car, the front office kept stating it would be done in a few minutes. In total, I waited 3 hours and still no one had even begun to work on my car. The front desk was kind enough to offer a refund, but in the end I couldnt wait any longer and had to leave without any work being done on my car. Honestly, this seemed like just poor management given the techs had too many cars and not enough personnel.

Comment: Scam shop. My wife took her car in for a brake inspection. The shop called my wife to say all 4 needed replaced, and they were disc brakes all around, and the rotors were all shot beyond repair, so the cost would be over $1000. Over speakerphone, I said thats not right, because the rear has drum brakes, and theyre relatively new. They suggested we come in to discuss, so we did. Once there, they corrected the quote after confirming that the rear has drum brakes, but they still needed to be replaced. I asked to see the brakes while they had the car on the lift. They were happy to show me, and continued claiming they were all bad. I told them the front looks shot but the rear looks perfectly fine to me, and they looked closer and reluctantly agreed, then had a mechanic confirm. We took the car to a different shop, where we received honest service.

Comment: Really bad service! I took bran new tires over to this location and purchased 4 trailer rims and wanted the tires mounted to the rims I just purchased. It took 2 -1/2 hours to mount them. Mind you they don’t have to remove no tires or put them on the vehicle, they were trailer tires I needed mounted and put into the bed of my truck to take home and I’ll mount them onto my trailer. When they finished up with my tires I couldn’t get anyone to load them into the l back of my truck! One employee was told to do so but he didn’t do so I waited! I asked a different employee if he could help me out and load them for me but he just told me that he’s busy!! Shame on you big o tires Very very bad service!

Comment: This was my fourth trip. My first was a three star. This time they earned a five star. Just appreciate them so much. They just keep getting better! The rest of this review is about my second visit maybe the first visit also. They were not ready with the tire even tho I was two hours late, they did it in ten min. I’ll take it! The rest of my review is from the first time—->A gentleman using the name Alonzo took my order, was orderly and professional. Even though my tire came in a little later than he’d anticipated, his demeanor and attitude were such that I did not mind. However, a surly and blatantly rude employee (I didn’t catch the name, had a tattoo on the forearm and Asian, a bit heavy set, shaved head I believe) who said “let’s just get this over with”. He appeared annoyed with me; I’d brought a chair to sit in while waiting in line. A few moments later I asked him what that was about “let’s just get this over with” he became agitated and I don’t remember what he said but it was something like “just doing me job” so I asked him if that was what he said to all patrons, he claimed to be uncomfortable with the question. I bet! As a first time user of Big O, I thought everything was fine, however this slime was allowed the freedom to talk to people like that; I’ve been in customer service most of my career, and it sucks but you can’t go around acting like that. Everyone else was great. Posters need updating. Waiting room was comfortable and enough space. Coulda offered some coffee maybe.

Our car less less than 2 y old, under 15000 miles. We took the car elsewhere and they measured each tire at a 7 - we were told no new tires needed for any aside from the original tire we needed to replace. Id be wary of this place.

Comment: You be the judge!!!!!, i had gotten a set of tired back in July 2019,@110K Miles took for flat and rotation, they said it was done, to find out the nail was in its place and the tires were not rotated. the manager was kind the next day he did all that.but I wasted my 5 hours. I took the vehicle for rotatation@ 138K after three hours to hear oh tires are too old. and they are still running fine 158K on 9/26/2023. Took for a flat repair, Myles said he cannot find my appointment, when i show my email confirmation then he find it, he would not even leave the desk to check the condition of the tires. I left the shop. Christina you were awesome to give details, I went the next Myles check the tires he said it is from 2018. where as they ordered it in July 2019, What a liar!!!!. I called to speak to manager, myles took the message, I am still waiting for the return call. I call few days back and held for 25+ minutes after Myles put me hold. then Tried to call but seems like went to VM and would hung up. Good Luck to all who go there.

Comment: Customer service is hit and miss.Chaotic and disorganized.Wont be back!Came in and discussed an issue my truck was having, with Alonzo. He said he wanted to discuss the issue with his head mechanic who wasnt there that day. He impressed me, so I returned the next day to have the radiator flushed, and see what the mechanic said about the issue.This time Esther C. was behind the counter. Dealing with her was about as pleasant as receiving a traffic ticket, complete with her asking to see my ID!I asked her why she needed my ID. She mumbled Its just easier.. Turns out she wanted to transfer my personal information from my drivers license to her form. I provided the information verbally, as Ive done with every other business in the past.When I returned to pick up the truck, they couldnt find my paperwork. When she finally found it, she spent several minutes typing information in the computer. I finally said: It was a simple service, what could you possibly be typing?She responded: I need to enter this stuff. (stating the obvious, and not answering my question!).I was pushed for time, so I got in the truck and left. I later looked at the paperwork. The mechanic had noted several issues that he thought needed attention, most of which are to be expected for a truck with 200,000 miles on it. Most notably, he noted the tires were low on tread, and that one of them had a screw in the sidewall! Of course, Esther failed to mention any of this to me. She was too busy typing it into the form!I would think a tire shop would take the opportunity to discuss the matter, in hopes of selling tires, not to mention safety! They apparently are only worried about liability, hence, entering the data on the form.Ester seemed genuinely disinterested, and failed to smile once through the entire transaction. You dont have to smile Esther, but at least act like youre glad the customer is there!I crossed paths with Alonzo a couple of times, but he seemed to be busy socializing, and never acknowledged me. I could have approached him, but I was no longer impressed enough with the operation to have them deal with the larger issue.

The customer service at the Foster City Costco is subpar to say the least, never have I experienced that bad of service, so I came to Big O. They are great! Got me a great tire, at a great price. I watched them work on my car, they handled my car’s rims with care, took pride in their work and made sure I was safe and ready to go. Totally recommend!!!!

Comment: It took over 3 hours to change my rear break pads. They took the guy changing my breaks off to service the car of a customer who came in after me. Got him in and out after they already had my car up in the jacks and the rotors replaced. Also came out to be over $100 more expensive than when I got my breaks changed elsewhere. Only reason I even went there was because they told me they had time to change my breaks. I would’ve appreciated the honesty and baseline customer service expected of any company charging for services.

Took it to the dealership and not only did they state it couldn’t be repaired but said I couldn’t just but y one, I had to buy two to prevent uneven tread ware, about $950. Took it Big O’s and it was repaired for less than $50.

I worked with 3 reps in the front (they were super busy), each gave individual attention during interactions with myself and all others. Talked with a couple guys in the shop, equally as great. I was a late afternoon walk in customer, got it done and quick for how busy they were! Also, they gave me great food recommendations to go to while I waited. Love this location and WILL be back for future needs!!! Customer service here is top notch! Thank you!

Comment: I think this shop scammed me. At first, I sent a tow truck to bring my van over there for an alternator and power steering pump replacement. I received a higher quote for replacement. I show them my quote from YourMechanic cost much cheaper. The manager said it was refurbished parts, and I am getting brand new OEM parts. I asked if the new parts were Mopar. They confirmed yes. I approved the estimate and gave them the go-ahead. A couple of hours later, I went outside to check the tech working on my van, and I saw the packaging box for my replacement parts was not from Mopar and was refurbished. Ultimately, the manager called me to check out the ticket as the repair was done. I asked him about the parts. He went garage area to confirm. He never came back to me. Another staff taking over and helped me finish checkout. I asked the same thing about parts, and he did not know but said the manager had to leave and pick up another customers pieces and then leave for the day. I was advised to write an email and send my concern to him later. I had to pay the new part price for refurbished parts. I paid double the refurbished part price compared to costs from some warehouses online for the same refurbished parts.

Comment: Ive been a Big-O Tires customer for a long time and have been to a number of Big-O Tires stores. The San Mateo store in particular has proven to be the best one Ive ever been too. Manny is great; very cordial, and matter of fact. I was having an issue with the lug nuts on my Telsa and he went out of his way to help me resolve it. Chris, one of the mechanics, is absolute Gold. Very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I trust these guys with my tire needs and will continue to go to them (even if its less convenient than other stores. Appreciate you guys!

I will be looking at other options next time I need tire service.

Comment: I’ve been coming to this location for years but my experience this week was probably my best ever. I had called the day after I got a flat on one of my run flat tires & unfortunately they couldn’t take me that day. I made an appointment for the following day. Upon arrival for my 3pm appointment, they were extremely busy (there weren’t even enough seats in the waiting area). One of the technicians offered me his stool as I waited. I also observed him using Google translate while helping another customer who spoke very little English, which I thought was very thoughtful. Although my car wasn’t ready for almost 3 hours after my appointment time (I ran errands while I waited), they didn’t charge me for the repair on my tire because I had to wait so long. This made my day especially because I called 4 other tire shops hoping that my tire could get fixed quickly but no one else could take me. I really appreciated the great customer service (not just for myself).

I live on the coast and had a screw in my tire as well as bald tires and it was urgent that I get new tires especially because I drive with my 5-year-old most places. The last place I called (should have called them first) was Big O Tires and they had the exact tire size when no one else did. It took me some time to drive there from where I live so they stayed working later on a Friday to replace all 4 tires for me. I felt bad that they worked late to do that, but they were happy to do it. I got all 4 tires for a great price. I think it is safe to say that I will be going to Big O Tires moving forward.

Comment: Went in for a flat repair. Was told “2 hours,” so I Ubered home. Two hours later they telephoned and said I have a crack in the wheel -$490 to repair it, and it would take two hours. I agreed and I said I would be there to pick it up just before 5 pm, which was 4 hours away. When I arrived by Uber just before 5 pm, they said it wouldn’t be ready until after 6 pm because the wheel repair needed time to become firm. Very unhappy, I said I’d be back in the morning and I Ubered home. I arrived at 10 am the next morning and they charged me the $490 and told me the car was in the lot. I got in, started it up and saw that the tire was still flat. Upon notifying them in the office, they said they would look it over. I was then made to wait 45 minutes while they did nothing. They finally put the car on the lift and the mechanic asked me where the wheel lock key was - which I found for him in the trunk. It was then clear that they had never even taken the wheel off and had lied to me the prior day that the crack repair needed more time to become firm - in fact, they had not repaired the crack, or had even taken the wheel off - the crack was visible with the wheel on. In other words, they did no work, lied to me, then charged me for work they did not do. The person in charge apologized and said that they would now repair the crack, but it would be about 2 hours and he would call me when it was ready. I Ubered home and waited 3 1/2 hours, hearing nothing, so I called and was told 20 more minutes. I am about to get in another Uber (my 4th Uber trip to Big O) to get the car, which is now hopefully actually repaired. At any rate, I will never go near the San Mateo Big O Tire store again and will loudly tell everyone I know to not do business with this place.

Comment: Their service is horrible. I would like too give a -5 star. I had a set of tires replaced. This was a few dollars cheaper than Costco and I’m still kicking myself for not going with Costco. After they replaced the tires, they told me to go to their Redwood City store to get the wheel alignment and they LIED saying they do not have a drive on ramp to accommodate a wheelchair van. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A WHEELCHAIR VAN THAT IS USED DAILY FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR A LOVED ONE. So I go to the Redwood City store to be told they won’t do it as the tires were not purchased there. I found another store in Dublin so I drove all the way there and a staff person by the name Elliott was very helpful there. He said he was at the San Mateo store the other day and yes they have a drive on ramp. He said he would do it but I’d have to pay for it. So I decided to bring it back to San Mateo and they took my van at 9:30 a.m., promising me it will be ready in 2 hours acknowledging my dire need to have the van ready on time. I called at 12:30 p.m., they said it will be ready in an hour. I had to pay for a wheelchair Uber for transportation as my van still was not ready and they aren’t cheap. They finished at 2:30 p.m., that day after several phone calls and no apology whatsoever from anyone. They acted like they didn’t even care. Try calling them and a voice mail will come and and then you will be disconnected. The initial savings ended up costing me more money, time, and frustration.

Comment: Got 2 new tires after a flat here, the TPMS sensor stopped working after they gave the car back to me. I took it back and they said they didn’t do anything, there’s nothing they can do, take it to Tesla. I just took it to Tesla, $300 service fee not covered by warranty later, and Tesla said Big O damaged the TPMS sensor during the replacement. I’ll definitely take it to Teslas recommended 3rd party tire shop next time, Americas Tire.

Comment: I have brought my car to get the front breaks changed and to my disappointment they used very cheap breaks which felt very unsecured and made lots of noise. I brought my car back and asked them to fix the breaks and this time they assured me they replaced the defective breaks for better brakes only to find out they switched the breaks and installed them incorrectly so I was scared driving around as they were making a lot of noise. Brought my car to a honda dealer and they pointed out what they had done and the poor cheap quality after market breaks they used. Brought my car back again and Mgr. this time lied to me again saying he personally bough Honda breaks . When my car was returned the mechanic mentioned the breaks will continue to make noise, and they did. I have made several calls asking them to refund me and they have ignored me for several months. Now the Manager from Stockton gets involved to tell me that they are not going to replace my breaks nor refund me because the warranty expired. He was so rude. The alignment they also did was done very poorly. You are better off taking your car somewhere else where they will use genuine parts and will do a better job. I am very unhappy of the poor job they did on my car and how unsafe they made my car. If you want a cheap service that will leave your car at risk this is the place. I do not recommend this place at all.

When I walked in The guy sees me and doesn’t say a word but run’s over to work orders and is looking around . Goes out to shop and comes back saying they are just getting my car in shop. It took and additional 50 minutes to do an oil change! The guy doing the oil change spent more time talking than working. If I had the place I could have done that oil change in 15 minutes! I know this cause I’ve done plenty oil changed in my life. Won’t go back

I showed up right when they opened & asked if they could patch 1 of my tires…they agreed to, so I asked how long… The guy told me about 2 hours since people before me have appointments (totally fair). After I waited my TWO hours, I called to see if my car was ready, it turns out my car hasn’t even been started & will not be done till the end of the day… (I had to uber home an hour away). To make things worse, they called me 30 min before closing & said that they can’t patch my tire due to damage. They offered me $280 for 2 new tires… i literally almost blew up so i had my fiancé call back & suddenly the tires were $250 out the door. Don’t waste your time if you don’t have an appointment.

Comment: I bring my car here on a regular basis, and have for quite a number of years now. It seems like when the management changed several years ago, the professionalism took a decline. Im having trust issues now and havent decided if Im staying. Ill give two examples here from this year. Took the car in for an oil change. I always got a synthetic blend due to their recommendation. Without asking or informing me, they used full synthetic oil, which was more expensive. They also did a vehicle inspection and marked some items in the yellow column, meaning they needed attention in the future. After a subsequent oil change yesterday, the vehicle inspection report showed my transmission fluid and struts were in the green now, when I never got any work done on them. I was told by the cashier the previous inspection wasnt accurate but the new inspection was done by their master mechanic so therefore was more accurate. I dont know what to believe now and this makes me question the quality of the work they are doing. UPDATE: after making an appointment a week in advance for 8 a.m., I arrived at 7:55 Saturday morning. Six customers were waiting at the door. The staff ignored my appointment (apparently useless) and checked everyone in before me. Why dont they say they dont take phone appointments?? While waiting in the wait area, a young woman sitting behind a counter who apparently worked there was being loud and obnoxious and repeatedly using foul language including the f word. Totally unprofessional and LOW CLASS. After being there THREE HOURS without my oil change even started, I asked for my keys and left. I will never return to this San Mateo location again. The place is dirty (they never sweep their floors), the customer service staff was often unreliable and difficult to deal with, and the quality of care my car got over time was questionable based on conflicting statements different staff told me. In short, no trust. My final visit experience was the straw that broke the camels back.

No sooner than I walked in, he eagerly assisted my needs and took my information, walked with me to my car and offered advice and expertise on issue and resolution for tires. Although I was a walk-in, he made an executive decision to move my car ahead of longer jobs. It’s service like this, that creates a customer loyalty base. He was expedient, efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. And although you guys don’t give a military discount his service alone is what is going to keep me coming back. Leading by example, empathy, and understanding of customers needs. He is a good front man representing the brand Big O Tires.

Five years ago, I had a flat tire a block away from this shop and took it to there. They took care of my vehicle quickly and I was impressed by their performance. Since then whenever i need work done i call Big O tires and look for StoreManager Alonzo Thurman.Alonzo is always attentive and professional. On this last visit, he provided excellent service, like always, from answering my questions and concerns and helped me avoid a costly mistake that would have damaged my transmission to my Audi Q5 if only 2 tires were replaced. Because of his deep technical expertise and knowledge of vehicles he was able to catch the issue quickly. He showed me data and articles from blogs with the same costly mistake. Others would have let it slide just to make a sale.Thanks to Alonzo I am back on the road again with 4 new set of tires and oil change without hurting my wallet. In this difficult times post covid-19 we need honest and compassionate service managers like Alonzo who thinks of customers first, making sure their needs and expectations are exceeded. Spent time with the advisor to make sure the tire was correct for a replacement. Went in the late afternoon to pick up the car. Was told that everything was great and ready to go.Something told me to double check the work before driving off. It turned out that the wrong size tire was mounted. The store did not have the right size in stock so was told that they can remount my original tire because it was fine and to come back in a couple days once the correct tire size was shipped.Yes, the original tire was fine...I did not get a call to have someone tell me that. Instead a new tire (of incorrect size) was put on, which I never needed to begin with.Needless to say, I got a full refund and will not be visiting again.

I showed up 20 minutes early and was told it would be “about an hour and 40 minutes” until my car was done. Ummm, not great for having two new tires put on when I made an appointment in advance, but OK. I had figured I would be there from 1-2 pm, so figured 2:20 wasn’t too bad. At 2:10, they hadn’t even gotten to my car, weren’t apologetic and didn’t seem to care in the slightest that I had been waiting for 90 minutes and they had blown it on my appointment by over an hour. Finally, after 2.5 hours, I come out to check status and see my car sitting outside. Nobody came to tell me it was done (I had been waiting there the whole time) and there was zero mention or apology for taking 2.5 hours to put two flipping tires on when I had an appointment. So what exactly is the point of making an appointment, I asked them - silence was the response while they continued to ring me up. Based on other reviews I read about this location on Yelp (unfortunately after I got there and was waiting for my car forever), seems like this is pretty common for people who have unfortunately given this store business.Needless to say, I will NOT be going back and encourage everyone to avoid this joint like the plague.

But I discovered this gem of a service franchise. Their staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. A shout out to Marrcela the front desk service associate and her team. She fully explained the length of time needed due to their service volume. As it turned out, they finished an hour ahead of schedule. There were a lot of other customers coming and going in the lobby; I have no idea what sequence they were handling the customers, but I cant imagine why it took so long to change my oil. The worst part was when they told me my car was ready it was solidly blocked in three cars deep in the back of the parking lot and I had to wait a full 20 minutes for them to rearrange the cars and break me out of there. After deciding on tires and scheduling an appointment I showed up at my appointment time only to find they didnt have the tires I wanted in stock. They could get them delivered, same day, but that effectively meant I needed to schedule a different time for an appointment. The location says they called me to confirm my appointment and that would have saved me time, but they never called (I checked) because they never had my number.Once it all got sorted Ive been happy with new tires and Im happy with the alignment as well. Only down side is that the tires are still filthy from putting the tires on the rims - at least make them look good when you put them on?!

Comment: I made an appointment online for 10am at the San Mateo location. It is not an issue with Customer Service, Stephanie was friendly and attentive. I was scheduled for, 4 new tires, alignment and an oil change.Even though I had an appointment, it didn’t seem at all that it mattered because, I got there by 10am the mechanics were not done until 3:30pm. I asked Stephanie if I will be able to pick up my car by 2pm and she said “yes”. I called at 2:15pm and she said they just “pulled” my car up that very minute I called. She said they were running behind but will get everything done by 3:15pm. I arrived at 3pm to see if they were almost done and my car was up but my tires were still not changed to the brand new ones. If I had known this was going to be an all day appointment I would not have made other obligations that day. I am a rideshare driver for kids so I am constantly on the road.They were done by 3:30pm. The services that needed to be done with my car was done in roughly 30 MINUTES so this means that the work was RUSHED. This really made me think about the integrity of the mechanics and the quality of the services that I received. As a rideshare driver for young children, honestly this is something I don’t want to have to fear or have to question.No, I did not read the negative Yelp reviews prior to making my appointment. However, I wish I had because of my experience, therefore I cannot recommend anyone to get their car serviced here.And please do not recommend/upsell (ex: oil change) if you are having scheduling issues and don’t have the man power to deliver quality services to your customers.

Comment: Needed new tires and didnt think my tires would make it to Redwood General Tire (my go to tire place) so I decided to do Big O. That was a Big O Mistake! I ordered my tires on Friday of Memorial Day weekend and they told me they would be in the next day (Saturday). I called Saturday and they told me they wouldnt be in until Tuesday due to the holiday. They called me on Wednesday to let me know my tires were in. I asked if I could come on Saturday and they said sure. I arrive at 1:00 and before we sign the paper work we are looking at all the extra costs. The guy said, oh did we tell you about the 3 yr warranty protection plan? We said, we dont want it. He then said, oh, well that will bring the price down. If we hadnt looked closely at all the charges they would have charged us for that. We sign the paper work and they tell me the car will be ready in about 2 hrs and they will call me. I call at 3:30 and they tell me they havent gotten to it yet but its next, oh its going on right now. My husband and I drove our other car over to Big O and Big O surprise, our car was in the same spot it was at 1 pm. They told me that my car was going in next and it would probably be about an hour and 45 minutes. I said, I came in at 1 pm and they told me two hours. I called two and a half hours later and they told me it was going in right now, its still in the same spot. Then they said, oh we can do it now. They put it on the hydraulic jack and jacked it up, took off the tires and about a minute later a hydraulic fluid line sprung a leak and the belly of my car hit the ground. The hydraulic fluid got all over my undercarriage, on my right break rotor and on the fender of my car. Then they had to manually jack it up and had a couple mishaps doing that. Once they got my tires on they drove it to another carport and put it on the lift to give me a free alignment aka checking to make sure that they didnt break anything when the jack failed. They told me there might be some leakage but it was just the hydraulic fluid that got sprayed on the undercarriage. When we got home we hosed it off and there was a ton of hydraulic fluid. I will never go back to Big O tires again! If you can go anywhere else do it.

I was told it would take 3 hrs and I just bought a new used car so I wanted full maintenance, oil change & new wiper blades installed. I called 2-3 Xs and they were pretty busy and I was told 20 more minutes. So my gf drove me there to drop me off and then I was told another hour. I told the guy I dropped this off at 9:30!! I sat down in waiting room and 30 mins later after I went up to the desk to check on my vehicle I was able to check out the car. Service was fine, the long wait not so fine but good staff. I would recommend them but bring a friends along to hang out or go eat to kill time.

Comment: I went there because of Groupon coupon I purchased. Although Groupon said one free oil change they charged me extra at checkout. Although I scheduled an appointment a few days ahead they made me wait additional 3 hours. After 3 hours of waiting they call me and say that my car is not operational because somehow my oil cap is broken. The car was fully operational when I dropped off. They charged me additional $75 to get my car out of this place. Save your nerves and dont deal with this ripoff business.

Comment: I had a appointment at 2:30. I was told it would take a hour and a half. After that time I went back 4 times to see if my truck was done. It took them 4 hours to do my oil change. They had the nerve to suggest that I puck up my truck the next day because they wanted to close the store and go home. They had zero consideration that I was stuck with no car for that long and when I expressed my frustration the guy behind the counter pretty much said oh well thats how it goes. Sometimes you have to wait a few hours. He was pretty rude. IT WAS OVER 4 HOURS..I have never waited that long and I will never go back to big o tires again. Nor would I recommend anyone else to go there either. This was at the San mateo, CA location

Comment: Visit 4/14/21 This place is my go to, they are super helpful and nice, Alonzo goes above and beyond all the time, I’ve been going here for almost a year and no regrets at al! Comment: Quality work here at Big O Tires. I would give five stars, if it wasnt for the lack of communication I experienced. I was upset at first when I was quoted 2 hours for my appointment to get my car fixed up, and it took 7 hours.However, I learned that the part that came in was defective and the mechanic at Big O Tires took the whole 7 hours to work on it and make sure the part was fully functional. Considering the amount of work they put into my car they still only charged me for my original quote of labor, and even gave me a discount for the miscommunication and trouble it posed on my plans for the day.Overall my experience was good. Great staff, excellent mechanics, and quality work. They just need to improve communication in the shop as well as with customers, and the five stars will rightfully be earned.Thanks you for fixing my car up!

Comment: Quick, easy, and friendly! Brought my car in at 3pm, car was ready at 530- had new tires, new brakes, and new wipers put on. Took advantage of their credit card offer and got 12 months interest free. Tires have a 3 year free replacement warranty, and brakes have a warranty too (cant remember for how long off the top of my head) but all three services for $1k interest free plus the warranties- Im very happy.

Comment: I brought my car in with an appointment about 2 weeks ago since I had a leak in one of my tires and I knew which one. Asked if they could look at it and patch it and also check my other tires. It took them half the day to call me to let me know that I had a nail and if I wanted to repair it and also have 20% left on my tires and I should consider changing them. I said I would consider if you can give me a price. The lady said she would call me back and never did. I had to call them several times before someone would give me a price. I said finally that I would change at a later time and repair the tire. So no one calls me back again to let me know when my car was ready. The entire day goes by and then I had to call again and they said it was ready and closing at 6, so I had to get down there from work. Get my car back paid them thinking everything was done. Then a few days ago the low pressure light comes on and I found the nail! They never patched it! I went in today and told the sales rep what happened so he said they would patch and it would be $40. I said please look at your records I was here 2 weeks ago and you guys never did the work! He said it would take 2-3 hours. I called 4 hours later because no one called me and I needed to take a Lyft down there . Finally they said it was done and they didn’t charge me, but it cost me an additional $30 for the Lyft rides back and forth and during COVID at its highest. Would have given a 1 star except they did get it done this time. Not acceptable service . I know they are busy but getting back to customers is right up there on the customer service spectrum! I know since I’m in a service industry! The reps are really busy and they make you feel they are busy and not very welcoming.

Comment: Took my car in for an oil change. Attendant estimates 2 hours until car is ready (no problems here). 2 hours later I get a call about another issue with my vehicle (wheel bearing is worn down and needs to be fixed), and asks me if I would like it repaired, and insists that it is dangerous to drive on. I oblige, trusting the attendants familiarity and knowledge, and the attendant quotes me ~$300 for the repair and another 3 hours for the wheel bearing fix. I get another call a couple hours later informing me that they got the wrong part to fix my car, so now they have to wait for the new one, which delays the fix for two days (took car in the day before Thanksgiving).Fast forward to two days later (Friday after thanksgiving) and I have to call back for them to alert me incorrectly that the car wont be ready until 3 pm (wouldve been a total of 14 hours over two days for an oil change and 3 hour repair..). They then call me back to tell me, oh actually the car is ready now (at 1 pm), so I head over to pick up my vehicle and hopefully be done. Not only was the car not finished, I had to sit in the waiting room because apparently my ABS light had come on (it wasnt on previously) and the tech was attempting to get it to turn off before I left. They did not inform me about the ABS light until I showed up to get my car, and they proceed to tell me that the ABS light was on when I brought it in (it wasnt, but how do I prove that? lol). So I shut my mouth like the good boy I am and pay my stupid bill (which ended up being ~150 more than they quoted me originally).Long story short, if you value your time and your vehicle, go somewhere else. I appreciate that they noticed the wheel bearing was busted and fixed it, but people have other things going on and the way the communication regarding both the status of my car and the cost of the service left a bitter taste in my mouth I wont soon forget. Anyone know of a good car service place?

Comment: I called big O tires in San Mateo on a Monday morning at 9:15 needing tires to replace threadbare ones so I could go on a road trip, leaving at noon. The customer service was wonderful over the phone he checked they had these hard to fine tires in stock and said that he could get me out by 11 upon my request. I was at the store within 15 minutes they were friendly quick concise clear quote. Tires were on the car at a reasonable price and I was out the door by 10:50. This is my first experience with big O tires and I would definitely return and suggested them anybody.

Comment: I had an appointment for 3pm on a Friday . I was told that I only needed two rear tires for my 4Runner. That was a correct assessment and a honest business transaction that I appreciate. Unfortunately, I didnt leave the store until just before 7pm. I lived north in SF and this was my husbands and I only vehicle, so we couldnt just leave the car over night which wouldve been fine but not the situation I was in. The price was fair, the stores associate showed concern that I was waiting so long for someone who had an appointment and was told it would only be 1 to 2 hours. My only complaint is that if you make an appointment, then the services should be started on that time. I showed up 15 to 20 minutes early. They were busy clearly. They were trying hard but my tires werent even started until 430. I was tired and frustrated. Again, whats the point of an appointment if the services preformed arent started at that time. Anyways, I was treated with respect and with honesty. My 3 stars would be 5 if I had just had 2 tires placed, balanced and aligned within 2 hours. Ohhh they forgot to give me my tire lug nut key. Came back next day and they found it and apologized. The tech felt bad. No hard feelings. You were crazy busy dude.Thank you for letting me vent. 2020 blows for all. Comment: I came in to do a tire alignment, mount and balance for new tires. I love my car a lot so i tend to be really picky about this. Alonzo and his team was really patient with me and took care of my anxieties about the mount and wheel alignment. They performed custom specs on my alignment which a lot of shop did not want to do. I know as a girl a lot of these shops simply dismiss your general knowledge for car but Alonzo did not! they did an excellent job working on my car while being efficient. Im from NYC so my patience is definitely on the lower end... But they did a super awesome job within a neat time frame. So go to this shop and ask for Alonzo and his team.

Comment: The first time was pre pandemic. I had an oil service. I pick up my car and noticed that the service light was still on. They had not cleared it. I went back the next day to let them know to clear it. It took them a while to figure out how to do it.No big deal!??The second time: I went to get an oil service and 2 new front tires. Since I work really close by, I left my car there all day. I got my car and a few minutes later down the street, the tire pressure light came on. I went back the next day. I waited about 20 minutes before someone came and did a 30 second fix to reset it.My thing is very small. But attention to details. Theses little things cost me being late to work and stress that there may be something else work with my car. You guys are the experts and that is why I brought my car to you in the first place. If I Knew how to do this, I would not brought it to you.

Comment: They were so excited to explain they do inspections no matter what after i asked to specically look at a few things. I get the paper, my trucks in perfect condition. Not one thing wrong with it. Even with the oil leaks i know about and the brakes squeaking the tech didnt think it was bad enough to make note of it. I brought it up to a service writer, he made no attempt to acknowledge my concern. Glad i kept it because im going on a trip and if something happends thats marked good on the check sheet ill get it towed right back and have it fixed for free.

Comment: Alsfonso (sp?) was fantastic. San Mateo had had a long power outage the day before. Subsequently, they were backed up. He acknowledged everyone as they came in to wait, smiled and was very cheerful. I listened to him really take time with the customer before us and you could see she was happy.Due to the power outage, our reservation was lost. He found our tires and gave us a discount for the hassle. When we came back to pick up the car, he carefully went though everything and our warranties which we didn’t even know about.We are all masked right now, but Alfonso’s professionalism and positive attitude came shining through. I had both of my vehicles tires replaced (4 tires each vehicle) within the last three weeks and both times they had the absolute best deal that I could find, even better than Costco ! And let me tell you, I am a good shopper ! Like I always say, my money looks better in my pocket than theirs ! If you go to the store/shop in the San Mateo location, see Mel, he is the greatest, he will only give it to you straight, no BS ! The only bad thing about the place is that they are always really busy ! So be prepared to wait a few minutes, however, every time I went in there, they were fully staffed, and all stations were open ! $500 per vehicle, but thats 4 tires, an alignment, and a great 3 year unconditional road hazard warranty ! I hope this review helps you in making a good tire purchasing decision !

When I got there Alonzo took care of me and let me know what the process would be. Alonzo made me feel like I was being taken care of and really knew what was going on with my car. When I was confused about the breakdown of the charges, Alonzo took the time to explain to me what I was to expect and was gentle with his approach. Comment: My review is purely in regards to customer service, since I was unable to get the necessary work done on my vehicle. After making an appointment online, I drove 20 minutes out of the way to go to the San Mateo Big O because it had better reviews than the one in Redwood City. When I got there, they had no record of my appointment. The girl talking to me asked a mechanic how long it would take for an alignment, and I didnt quite hear what he said but I did catch minutes. So when she said 2 hours, I became skeptical and said I would try another time. Rather than offering to schedule an appointment for me, she told me to call because the online method was too new to be reliable. I explained that I work nights so I was generally not awake during their open hours, her response was youre awake now.I immediately called the Redwood City location and I had a completed alignment within an hour.

Comment: This was my first experience with Big O, I made an appointment online stating what I needed (tires). I received a call back promptly and confirmed my appointment. I arrived early and was still taken care of promptly. They didnt stock the tires I was eyeing online, but did stock an excellent alternative choice. They performed a courtesy inspection and alignment and even performed a minor adjustment at no additional charge. My biggest critique is they had the wheels off and didnt bother to mention the general condition of my brakes, a very simple but very important thing. Overall, I was very satisfied, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks guys!
