Comment: Whoever manages this location should be ashamed! They never have rentals at all, whether its for the Uber program or just regular cars. There last ditch effort is to offer EV cars if they have them in stock. They also dont move the cars from the EV charging station so no one else can charge EV cars there. The attitudes are also very bad, the staff could use a replacement.

Comment: I have to do Uber as a job bc Im basically unemployable...I have IBS...the stress I get doing Uber itself is worth cutting wrists but getting a electric car is worse. Theres cars just sitting on the lot and the two girls behind the counter will say no cars come back Thursday. Meanwhile my car doesnt work properly. Something is up.

Comment: I rented a car from this location from the Uber program for over a year. I admit that I returned it to the ventura location on main street but that is because the brake problem on the car reared it’s ugly head on a sunday night when I had to use the E-brake to avoid a car that suddenly stopped in front of me. This was a problem that I addressed and even took to pep boys in ventura multiple times to get fixed. They did replace all 4 tires, cabin&engine air filter and did the oil change, I will give them their due credit. The rotors and brake pads needed to be changed and I even talked to an older tech who, according to him pep boys just rips off avis. He also thought that worn rotors just needed to be cleaned and not replaced which is what he did. I asked for another car last September and after that but I guess another one was never available until my 2/25 return date the next year. I was charged just under $1100 2 weeks after I returned the car which I disputed and if avis refuses to refund me The money that they overcharged me when the car was in perfect working order I will be going to small claims court and if I have to will have the court subpoena the video camera outside of Ventura location to prove the car was in good working order. Let’s see a response to this one if I get one and a refund I’ll be OK with that.

Comment: If I could give zero stars, I would. We placed a reservation two weeks before we were to pick it up. Got a call while we were on the way to pick up the car to say they didnt have any cars and we had to go to another location and SEE if they had cars and could honor our rate. Went to the LAX location, and they were completely booked. Went back to the La Brea location only to be told there was nothing they could do, but they had a parking lot full of cars. We were told they were being held for the Uber program that lets drivers rent cars. So forget about regular customers? Didnt even attempt to rectify the situation. Could have easily given us one of those cars because they were just sitting. TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!!!!

Comment: While entire experience budget has been horrifying to say the least. We rented a cargo van one-way from Las Vegas to LA. Our first complaint happened before we left the lot. The side door didnt close all the way and numerous lights were on (brake pad, etc). We were told oh its fine and they documented on our paper work the pre-existing issues. On our way to LA another light came on saying the tire pressure was low. We filled it and proceeded with our drive. 20 mins later the tire pressure alert came on again this tire the tire was flat. We stopped at a gas station and called roadside assistance. After hours of waiting and calls no one came. Lucky for us someone called AAA and they changed the tire. We returned the van Jan. 16, made a complaint and left. A little over 24 hrs later we received a call from roadside asking if we still needed assistance. A week later we received a call saying we didnt return the van. Fast forward to Jan 28 we received a very hostile saying they reported the van stolen and that we were going to be arrested, tyat they called LABrea and they said they dont have it. Today we went to the LaBrea location (where we returned the van) to find out whats going on. We checked the lot and they van is there parked in the back. We waited for the supervisor. We informed him of the situation, he checks our receipt and goes and grabs the keys we returned from the back. He checks the vehicle and not only do they have it but they moved it because it is in a different spot from where we parked. He said he will have the ticket closed for the date we returned it. He offered to email the receipt but we opted for a paper copy. I have currently been waiting 1 hr for a receipt.*Edit*I thought we were done with this but here we are they next and we have to go back up to Budget. After they finally closed the ticket the manager is charging us an extra $124 for gas that was never there. We picked up the truck in Las Vegas with a half tank and we returned it in LA with half a tank. The supervisor is saying we should have filled it up. I thought you return the way you got it. This place is a fraud. This was our first time using Budget and it will NEVER happen again.

But Raul refused to give me one. I will find another Avis who was my $390.00 a week for my Uber rental since Raul doesn’t want my business.

Comment: So the young lady others are speaking name is Jessica.Her customer service is terrible & the heavy set guy whom was in charge was of no help.Booked the rental through my work discount at work to avoid any hassle on arrival.They questioned my discount asked for all this other stuff, & after even telling them and calling my employ they wouldn’t honor it.I guess because of the great discount we get they didn’t want me getting that price.fortunately for us my wife’s a Union meme wr and we used her discount which still was good and my employer sent me funds because of the hassle and inconvenience.they told us to bring the car back with same gas amount 3/4 tank full which we did and the guy who took the return charged us even after saying we where good.Had to call corporate and they’re issuing a fuel service refund.the car was nice but this unprofessional service isn’t worth it this was on October 5th 2023

Comment: We were told that everything is included and no more extra charges will be applicable other than what we payed in advance and its just the deposit that we pay now... then we were charged at the end for extra 245$... the guy was screwed us over... and the return place was closed as agreed via email, confirmed and however it was different on the contract what we needed to sign by renting, we didnt notice and we had to give back the car at San Francisco Airport... they simply took money and our time from vacation because we werent careful enough and beleived what the we were told .. Always check every little detail of your contract and refuse if not entirely clear...

Comment: Came here after issues with another rental company and already in a bad mood. They were kind and courteous and did everything they could to get me in a car and on the road. Raul was very kind and patient and made it possible for me to get a car and make my flight home. Coming directly here next time I visit LA. Car was clean, smelled fresh and I absolutely love it. Only waited a couple of minutes to be served and the entire exchange probably took only 10 minutes itself.

Their car management system is not organized.I returned a car on the scheduled day but Budget charged me way a lot more than contracted amount since Budget calculated I returned the car one day late. I called and talked 5 people in Customer Service dept all day long and even next day. They did poor job. Nobody is helping me clearly. I have no choice but to call my credit card company and ask to open a dispute for the issue. I will never use Budget Rental Car Company in my life anymore.

Comment: Ive rented from this location for over 18 months now, with flawless, respectful team.The former manager is no longer there and their service dropped down to zero. Be very careful with your documents, dont drive the car without careful inspection because the mgr has no problem accusing you, causing complications out of nowhere that are irrelevant. They wont provide you with the requested reference docs while making up excuses.Good thing I filed an investigation and a claim to get it all resolved.Call customer service and make sure to file a complaint if any issues happens to get it resolved, done deal with the staff, or current mgr as they give you the runaround and agressive blunt attitude.

Comment: Im not quite sure why there are so many poor reviews for this location. Due to a $200 savings compared to airport rental, we decided to give this location a try and Im glad we did.Quick service during pickup and return.We rented a full size van (12 passenger Ford Transit XLT 350) from Costco and the vehicle was available at the scheduled time. The car (almost 50,000 miles) had seen better days but it got us from Point A to Point B for 2 weeks.The drop off process was quick and took like 1 minute so very comparable to the airport. I ordered a Lyft and got back to LAX in about 15-20 minutes including wait time. It cost $15.

Comment: This is also an Avis location and I rented an Altima from here. They had given me a pretty beat up one with 50k miles, scratches on it and an empty tank of gas. I asked for another car but they said they didnt have one. After I got the car and drove off, I noticed the ride was very rough but I thought it might be the bumpy roads. Then a warning light popped up on the dashboard a bit later. This location was closed so I had to exchange it at another location. Got a Camry which was nicer. Spoke to Raul the manager and he was very nice and understanding and comped me a day of the rental. Ive always had a good experience with Avis and this is the first time I had any issues.

Comment: This has been my worst car rental experience. I did a prepaid rental because the price for a Chrysler 300 was a really good deal (and of course it does say Chrysler or similar car) So, my rental pickup time said 5pm pickup 5pm return. We got there at 5pm NO ONE around to help with pickup. We eventually ended going back early the next morning . They did not have the car I had prepaid nor a similar car (luxury car) instead I ended up with a 2021 Dodge Charger that tires were completely worn out, disgusting stain in the back seat, dirty from inside and out, scratches and dents all over the car body. I had to take that car because we had to start driving to our destination or we would have missed our family reunion. Personnel is not professional or courtesy at all. They asked for my credit card to hold the depot; but they never told me they were going to charge the rental fee’s (remember this was a prepaid rental) which I will NEVER do again (please don’t do a prepaid not with the stress that they put you through) So now they charged my cc twice for the same reservation. They promised a credit back within 72 hours (that has not yet happened) Credit Card was supposed to be for the deposit “ONLY“ they didn’t say to pay for the whole rental AGAIN (I found out about it when the bank sent me a message about the big charge) Not the staff at the place but the bank advised me! When I brought the car back and expressed all my concerns about the vehicle and the whole situation; the guy there (might be the manager?) was not interested at all and the only thing that came out of his mouth was when I told him that he would feel the same way if it happened to him …he said “we all have different opinions” with a smirk! Really?? Don’t ever go there (Budget at 636 S. La Brea Ave.) or get a prepaid!! Part of my vacation was ruined and so much stress because of the whole situation! I would give them a -1 star but not available!

Comment: Came here as a walk-in when a Hertz one block down told me they didnt have a car available for my existing reservation with no interest in helping.The people here at Avis/Budget were super nice and helpful and did everything to get me a nice rental very quickly and professionally. Totally saved our day. I will definitely be renting here again the next time Im in the area.

Comment: My husband made reservations online days priors to pick up and money withdrawn from banking account just for someone to call him a day prior to cancel his reservations because they didn’t have any cars left. Why were we able to successfully book if there were no cars? Also, after my husband asked for a solution, he told him he gave him a “courtesy call” a day in advance so that he wouldn’t get all the way to Budget and have them tell us the car wasn’t available then. No solution provided. It was extremely frustrating dealing them.
