Comment: Rented vehicle to drive cross country. Was given lesser vehicle than paid for with no explanation. Staff rude and hurried through process. Handed me the inspection without allowing me to look over the vehicle. Found out that the vehicle was 6,000 miles over due for an oil change when I was renting it to drive 2500 miles. Strongly do not recommend this location.

Comment: Although we were asked at the time of pick up if we needed additional insurance cover and we have declined, the staff added it on our contract and as we were not careful enough when signing the contract (it has been added anyway although we had declined) we had to pay an additional 105$ at the time of drop off…Very dishonest practice from the budget team. Be super careful on the contract you sign when picking up the rental as they don’t do according to your answers….

Comment: At the pick up in Hawthorne Blvd, Torrance, LA, the service was very bad, the workers unfriendly, and the car was not cleaned. We had to wait 50 min until they gave us the car, but it was dirty, full of sand and dust outside. There were several larger damages that were not registered on the voucher, and when we mentioned them, they didnt want to register them, when we insisted they got in a very bad mood.At the check out they said everything was fine, but we got charged an extra fee of 24 USD, in the receipt its not clearly specified why they charge this. We brought the car back with the full deposit.

Comment: As a budget renter I want to help you avoid the common disasters of renting. Do not get their insurance. They are trained to pressure and scare you into buying their unnecessary insurance just to make extra money off of you. If you own a vehicle your insurance will likely cover rentals, just present it and decline theirs. Check with your credit card company as many offer full coverage of the rental vehicle up to $65,000 (does not cover personal injuries to you or other persons or damge to other vehicles, ONLY the rental)Take photos of the vehicle inside and out, including the gauges to show the mileage and gas, which should be fullWhen returning the vehicle fill up with gas, save the receipt and turn it into them and also take photos of the receipt and grab a pen and write that youve documented EVERYTHING and that the vehicle is in the same condition. Or just tell the counter rep that you have taken photos of EVERYTHING and gas is FULLThey will think twice about hitting you with scam charges like they did to me when they charged me $240 claiming I returned the vehicle empty on gasDOCUMENTING EVERYTHING will save your walletAlso, if the vehicle youre renting is not what you requested DEMAND that they fix itGood luck everyone!

I called and was told that it was never ran.. had them run it again and was told that the Tesla was no longer available because it had a nail in the tire and it had to go for service.. but I know this too was a lie because they didn’t want to rent me that car because of my skin color.. as a Manager of a multi billion dollar company I would never accept my employees offering this kind of stereotyping based off of a persons skin color.. will never use this company ever again. Made no sense because I had never rented an SUV and showed them my reservation for both vans. When they drew up the contract I was paying as paying more than my original reservation. When I questioned the daily rate Ashley the the rep assisting me said she couldn’t modify my reservation to reflect the cheaper rate. So she gave me a $30 discount to bring the cost down to the original reservation???? So where’s the cheaper rate???? Rip off. Definitely deserves a call to corporate for a complaint….I would advise not to rent at this location and if you do look over your contract carefully.

Comment: Wiper blades were bare, we were driving on highway and chose the option to replace the blades ourselves instead of looking for another budget rental. Customer service agreed to give us $20.00 for the trouble. Submitted the receipt for the blades, the reimbursement process was to credit me ONE blade at a time, each process takes 7 days. Also I never get the $20.00 credit as promised. Incredible!Make sure to check your wiper blades and gas level when picking up the car, our gas level was only 3/4 full and it was not noted on the inspection paper.

Comment: I made my reservation for 5 or so days. I told the employee please enter a weekly rate as usual I am sure I will end up keeping the car for 2 x as long. Note rented 8 weeks over the last year. When I bright back the car I saw a weekly rate was never entered and it charged me some crazy rate 2 times the daily. It was more important for this company to get the extra $300 they overcharged me than keep what could have been a life long happy customer. Note worked in the industry. I’m not unreasonable. In the past I always had the car cleaned too prior to return. I also always tipped a few dollars. This just the world we are in today with AI around the corner. Make sure u check what u sign and never keep a car longer, they will screw u over. In my opinion it just not worth the aggravation. Plenty of car rental businesses out there who still believe in honesty and business ethics.

Comment: Although I do like budget rental elsewhere this place is extremely slow when it comes to assisting guests from pickup to drop off. I feel those renting through Uber take up too much time and causes regulars to wait. We did pre check and was completely pointless as we waited 45 minutes in line to pick up our vehicle. We were also not informed of the additional $250 charge on our cc at pickup which cut into some of our vacation fun. Customer service is non existent. At least acknowledge the people waiting pr something like an apology for the delay. I truly dont understand the pre check when they ask us repeat questions and try to sell, you on other features after I had gone through everything on my own for pre check. They truly need a pick up drop off window. I do wish we were able to pick our car like other rental locations as our particular vehicle although great, just having an option to choose for that class of vehicles would have been much nicer to make sure it was a closer fit to our needs.

Comment: Staff at the office is good and helpful.The customer service guys are retarded, and don’t understand simple English. I rented a car for a day and had to extend it by 1 day. I had to talk to 5 people over 3 calls, requesting for the extension.Over the call, first person confirmed my extension. But I didn’t receive any confirmation email. I called them second time and representative asked me for additional charge for modification and confirmed that there was no extension that I requested. When I was returning the vehicle, the representative in the office confirmed that I was already charged for the extension so I can keep the vehicle for another day. When I was about to drop off the vehicle, I inquired if they take the time zone into account since the billing cycle is 24 hours; I picked the vehicle from California and returned in Colorado, so I simply inquired that if the time is adjusted accordingly. This representative confirmed that there was no extension on my account so I would be penalized once I return the vehicle. I tried to extend it again over the call, and he couldn’t do that because the drop off location is closed when I was supposed to return the vehicle. I went to the drop off location myself before this call and confirmed that the drop off location accepts after hours return and has key drop-box. But this representative argued that it didn’t because the system says. Great work! So you think I was smoking and hallucinated of the instructions for keys drop off! So the representative accepted his limited authority on helping me. Subsequently, I requested him to connect me to the customer care and voila, great news, this representative is customer care representative. My call was transferred to the billing department. I explained the whole situation to this representative after which he said, Hold and behold, “I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with this”. Upon my insistence to talk to someone who either has authority or could take an action, he asserts that nothing can be done and I will be charged for two days extra. In less than 24 hours, I had to request the same extension 4 times which the agents/representatives confirmed to exist and not exist as per their convenience.A great response I received from one of the representatives was “you are late in returning the vehicle, so extend for two days more so that you can return to the same location”. Yeah sure, it was my fault that the weather conditions were bad. I should have cleared the skies and snow before driving on the road. No agent/representative can do anything, they interpret one information in their own way, and make up the return time. Everyone gave me a different return time for a simple 24 hour billing cycle. Great mathematics! I spent an hour over the call to confirm where shall I return the vehicle and how much would I be charged. Why should I pay for miscommunication and my time wastage because of your untrained staff or unclear guidelines. I didn’t request an airlift of a car for which the guidelines didn’t exist. It was a simple extension by 24 hours in normal timeline, nota time scale defined in physics or astrophysics for some celestial/cosmic event. When one representative confirmed extension, I saw a debit on my credit card. After few hours, there was no debit and no extension. They just kept playing with debit and credit. I had to deal with all of this on Jan 1, 2023. A great way to start another year by standing the ground to resist unethical professional behavior and the fraudulent charges.Finally, when I suggested that I’ll take this dispute to the authorities, the last representative created a case for me and confirmed no mischievous additionalcharges. I rented the car with budget the first time and I MUST say that it was a terrible, frustrating, abusive, and disappointing experience. So far, they have confirmed they won’t charge me extra, let’s see if that is actually confirmed or another temporary confirmation and the things change if I had to speak to another representative.

When I got to Budget, they did not have a minivan for me and offered other 7 passenger SUVs instead. I looked at it but it wasnt high enough to transport a bicycle and luggage to move my son in to his frat house. Ended up waiting around for them to get a minivan for couple hours and they finally told me I could use one of their cars to go to LAX Budget to exchange for a minivan. Got to LAX but they didnt know about this exchange. Finally got a minivan but ended up costing me 3 hours of waiting around and unnecessary drive to LAX. Asked for a discount and they couldnt do it because I had prepaid. Asked for a credit for future rental and they couldnt do it until I returned - so basically just passing the buck and placating me at the time.

Comment: People working there are wonderful people. Problem comes in computer sending incomplete receipts. If you take advance fueling option, then first receipt you get still charges you for fuel, even if you filled backup to the level at which you rented. To remove that charge, or find out what your true charge is, you have to call, which is a headache. It is just a bad software, that they need to fix.

They responded they added a note for the reservation and then followed through with the request. It was like the van was brand new. So thankful for the under seating storage. But since I didnt have forever and another car wouldnt be available for hours, I took this car, which was way too big. The tank was 3/4 full as documented. When I asked that I had booked fully, no further response was given. I then returned the car on the same day with 3/4 of fuel. Nevertheless, I was charged a huge fee, of course only afterwards. Absolute rip-off and not recommended.

Comment: The staff at the locations were fine. My issues was and still is with billing. I was told $302.78. At rental it was $399.59. Couldnt be explained as all the numbers were EXACTLY the same but somehow the new way Budget was doing math it became $399.59. When the charge came threw it was $485 on the email receipt. More incredible, my Discover card was charged $599. Even though the rental receipt clearly stated the gas at G3, between 1/4 & 1/2 and I had opted NOT to pay for the gas in advance and return it at the same amount. I was charged $125 for gas. Since filling the tank only cost me $64 I have to assume Budget removed the back seat of the Malibu and added an extra tank to hold double the amount of a filled tank. Still cant get it fixed. They fill the vehicle up just to F which then when I fill it up I end up paying more because it goes past the F. Drop off address was completely wrong and had to go way out of my way. Comment: The staff was friendly, but pulled a bait and switch on me by having me reserve a car for $175 through the Uber app and then telling me that price is only for long term rentals. I was charged $225 instead. I was told I would only have to paid this for 2 weeks and then I have to call to get the price reduced.Also the car they gave me has a fender being held up with duct tape. The fender is starting to fall off again.

Comment: I recently rented a car here for a One-way to San Diego. I am a fast break member and showed up to pickup my car. They didnt ask for any identification and made me wait for a car from a different location for 30 min despite having plenty there. The car was older and had some mechanical issues and drove horribly. I drove straight to SD and it used an entire tank of gas. I called the location and corporate but nothing was done since I prepaid. They said someone would followup but never did. Im extremely dissatisfied with Budget. This is the 2nd rental in a row they have done me dirty. I will say the staff was at least nice, but unprofessional when it comes to renting a car.

Did not like having to wait to drop off the key, the guy in front of me was going on and on with questions. But, very quick, prompt, courteous, affordable, and above all, ACCEPTS DEBIT CARDS FOR ONLINE CAR RENTAL RESERVATION AND CAR RENTAL PICK-UP!! Clean car, full tank. Vehicle felt unsafe, though, like it needed an alignment. Just glad I didnt have to drive too far. =) It lives up to its name - BUDGET!!

Comment: I made a reservation 5days in advance showed up early on a Saturday to pick up 16 ft truck.Rechecked the reservation the night before.Drove three hundred miles to pick up truck.First thing out of the guys mouth was I have some bad news we do not have any more 16 ft trucks butt we have a 23ft one for the same price I said thats fine.He than went out to check the truck came back and said have some more bad news we dont have any one way trucks . I said why, he than showed me a list of all the other reservations he had to fill that day and would not be able to.He new I had driven all this way he could not even look me in the eye. He said thats just the way we do it here at Buget Truck Rental.This place should be shut down. I have been around for over 56 years and I cant recall ever seeing someone so unhappy working with customers.I think this poor guy should quit and find a job with a company that knows how to properly take care of customers and run a rental truck company Penske Truck Rentals.0 stars is the rating I give to Buget Truck Rental.Do not rent from them at any price.

Comment: DO NOT rent from this place because they will try to squeeze extra fees out of you by making bogus claims. I rented a truck for a local move and returned the truck the next day. I found out I was charged over $30 dollars more than what I anticipated. I called them and they said that I didn’t return the truck with full fuel. The manager on the phone said because they had to take it to the gas station there was a $30 dollar fee to do so. At the gas station I put in an amount that caused the nozzle to click, which means the tank is full. She then said that the fuel level was slightly below the letter “F”, so she took the truck to the gas station and topped it off. Naturally, if you top off a tank you can put more fuel in it, but that is not safe to do so since fuel can spill out. And this creates a grey area of what a “Full” tank is. The initial click of the gas nozzle is the best way to indicate full and not the top of method, which is subjective. I bet she uses this tactic to get extra cash out of customers all the time.Advice: Take a picture of the fuel gauge before and after fueling to prevent getting ripped off. Get evidence prior so you have a case when they over bill you.
