First it took 45 minutes to get checked in and then the car was filthy. literally covered in dog hair. then when I go to return the car I waited 10 minutes and the employee informed me it couldnt of been that long because she was watching me on camera in her office. then she proceeds to tell me I needed a receipt to prove I put gas in the car. that was not explained when I checked the car out even though the attendant spent several minutes explaining things she didnt need to. long story short it was my first and last time renting from budget. I will go right back to hertz!!!!!
Car broke down out of state and it took over 6 hours (12:30 pm-6:30pm )to get it resolved and I was at a convenient location at a gas station next to freeway. This caused me to extend travel and need a hotel plus miss a key meeting. The issue was related to Budgets dispatch services rather than the Lansing Capital Budget office.
My car was not ready upon arrival, system asked for additional ID or social security #, dog hair in car Im allergic to pet hair dander, had to show gas receipt upon return, had to write down mileage personally, contract said return was 8am but didnt leave counter until 8:43am. The issue with car not being ready was not the fault of the ladies at the counter but the crew from previous night. Very friendly personnel but the company policies clearly are lacking customer service. As a paying customer I did not expect to have to check the car in myself. All the frivolous rules are an attempt to get additional fees from customers. Budget should be ashamed to stand behind such policies.
The person at the service desk was wonderful. She was friendly and very efficient. I asked about how the cars were being sanitized and felt confident my rental would be safe to travel in. She even provided me with an alcohol wipe for my hands and cards after our transaction.
Rented a car elsewhere, but had to replace it due to a mechanical failure. The agent at the Lansing airport was very friendly and promptly took care of the issue putting us in a new car to continue our trip. This is the kind of service that will make me continue renting from Budget and Avis.
I rented a van for four days at pick up they charged my card the total and a hold , dropped the car off cleaned and on time and received a second hold....for what reason would you have to place a second Hold on a vehicle I no longer have in my possession. I called customer service and he was less than no help BUDGET HAS BECOME QUITE THE DISAPPOINTMENT FROM NOT ACCEPTING MY CREDIT CARD AS A CREDIT CARD TO ALL YOUR OUTLANDISH CHARGES WHENEVER YOU WANT I AM REQUESTING TO HERE FROM A SUPERVISOR asap
Worst experience of my life. 0 stars. Prepaid 600$ for a car to be told you cant use a card with debt an when i provided a card that didnt say debt. They still said they couldnt process it. They also said it would take 5 to 7 bushiness days for the refund. Absolute scam of a company
I saw a lot of workers standing around talking to each other, and only one was actually working. He was very nice and polite (but also was an Avis worker).We ended up being upgraded to a larger vehicle for our trip too. When we came back to return our rental, they had lost the paperwork and we had to spend almost two hours there. This is SO worrisome considering this is a whole car were talking about (in other words, SUPER EXPENSIVE). Need better trained staff. If they lost the paperwork too, then that means they had no record of us taking the car which almost makes me wonder if we could have kept it and no one would have known LOL as a business, this should really be concerning.
Like others have said, no customer service and the car was dirty. Finding food in backseat floor and water bottles in pockets makes me wonder how sanitized this vehicle was. Now for my biggest complaint-reserves a premium SUV (suburban or like) got a Yukon SLT. When I called was told that the Yukon was the same class as the suburban. I proceeded to advise (not very calmly mind you) they this was not a premium SUV. She insisted I received what I reserved. Called corporate, yep no customer service there either just kept telling me to take it to another Budget lot and if they have what I reserved they could do an exchange. Told this gentleman time after time that we had no other locations in our area. Finally requested to speak with a Supervisor, the supervisor insists that the Yukon I have was a higher class than a premium SUV. At this point I am livid. Call the location the next day to speak with the manager as I was told the night before by the rude lady that Deb would be in the next day. Nope she isn’t in but will be in later that day and she would call me this was Friday. Fast forward to Sunday. Still no call from the manager. Never again will I rent a vehicle from this company. Believe me we are filing a dispute with American Express if we get no resolution when we return the vehicle. There is so much more but I am just done and fed up.
Every time I return my car I get charged for the fuel service. I was told by the agent on the phone that if I drive under 75 miles then I have to show the return agent my gas receipt. I dont have a problem doing that. I am never asked for a receipt of gas, and I have never been told of this policy before. I think it is a very shady tactic especially since you can see that the gas tank is full when it is returned. MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR INVOICE/RECEIPT WHEN YOU RETURN YOUR CAR!
Car was filthy, full of spills and sand everywhere. No other vehicles available unless upgrade $20 more per day. We had to clean whole inside with soap & water before use. Outside windows, mirrors, and lights had to be cleaned as well because vehicle was so dirty. Cruise control did not work properly, so could not use. Required emergency roadside assistance which took two hours of my family waiting on the side of an extremely busy freeway just outside a large city which was extremely unsettling. Budget couldnt figure out how to find us even with the latitude and longitude they provided as well as a full description of the location. Finally, charged $10 for not refueling the broken down vehicle which was exchanged for a different one. The vehicle had just been filled with gas and had to be driven directly back to the nearest airport for an exchange. The 2nd vehicle was nice, but we had to remove a large amount of grass from the underside of the vehicle before use. It looked like it had been driven through a field. We also had to adjust a rotor wheel cover because it was grinding on the rotor. Upon return of 2nd vehicle, associate said nothing, not even a simple apology. With covid being such an issue, there is no way we felt this vehicle was sanitized as promised. I will be filing a complaint, but doubt it will make much difference. I did take pics of everything though and am willing to share...
I was double charged for the insurance I prepaid it through expedia told the young lady at the window she even confirmed it, but added the same insurance I had already paid for. My car was dirty on the inside it definitely needed vacuumed, the rear outside at the gas tank had a sticky film allover, I turned my car in early Saturday morning and tried since then to get in touch with someone regarding the insurance charge, on Monday morning my cc was charged over 800.00 and declined then again for over 400.00 declined again then finally charged for the insurance Im assuming for around 38.00 and was successful. I had a one day rental that I reserved on expedia for around 56.00.
I was rented a car that had an odor to it, but not thinking I accepted it. When I had it for a day i discovered a female shoe that was in the back seat floor board with some glue, and when I returned the car they said I smoked in it, which I dont smoke and I was the only one in the car for the entire time as I was in town for business.
Absolutely appalled with how horrible their knowledge is. We rented a car weeks in advance, a 7 seater. We are under the age of 25 (22), so we were expecting to pay more. They didn’t mention the security deposit, but we covered that. They then, after us calling to confirm TWICE failed to mention that you can’t rent a 7 seater under the age of 25. We had already paid, already taken the bus over, and relied on this car to get back to work on Sunday after our trip. They then told us they would give us two cars if we wanted to pay the higher price AND have two security deposits.Calling to confirm details twice should have taken care of this. It is now the day of and we are stranded. This business does NOT have everything under control, and I would take my business elsewhere where they won’t hide details and prices from you.Sorry for the long read, it is important for under 25 year olds to know.
We traveled to Alabama and back. I drove my 84-year-old mother-in-law down in the rental car. She was comfortable the whole way. The car got great gas mileage!!! And the ride was smooth. I didnt think the cost was bad at all for the distance we traveled. I would definitely rent from Budget again. The pick up and return were fast. As a matter of fact, I may need a rental car next week and will definitely go with Budget if I do.
Well live and learn ill never go back there again! That manager girl is a B@#$% and the fees are just not right. i filled the gas up like i was told i had to and i got charged a cleaning fee of $250😑 the car was clean when i returned it. Not happy with my experience at all.
Love the staff; not thrilled with the car.The staff at Budget was helpful before I arrived, when I called to find out about shuttles and returning cars in the wee hours. Great also with directions and suggestions when I arrived to pick up the car, way after normal business hours.That said, please dont put 6 people into Nissan something tiny if you can help it. It was so small I had to take my shoes off to fit into the seat; couldnt find the gas tank open button because it was hidden from a tall persons line of sight.Car return is right next to baggage pickup inside the airport proper. Made it easy.
The exterior of the car and windows were dirty; there was a stain on the passenger seat; the clock was not changed in accordance with daylight savings time; the car smelled of smoke; at pickup, the gas tank was not full. The rep changed the tank rating from Full to G7
Such a terrible experience. An employee told me “ you’re confusing, so the person you talked to yesterday was probably confused” and then I was hung up on. Go to Enterprise and get way better service. Budget made me feel like an inconvenience. Not worth the few dollars you’ll save a day by renting from this place. I wish I could give them 0 stars.
Don’t come here if you don’t have a credit card. went to go get a car and everything was going great until the worker actually put my card in and realized it wasn’t a credit card. they gave us a booster seat that was dirty and stained. if you want fast decent service don’t come here.
I rented a vehicle from Budget for a family vacation and I had no problems with this rental. I will definitely rent again from them when the time comes and I highly recommend them as a company if you are looking to rent a car or any vehicle. The car got great gas mileage and with unlimited miles the trip was definitely an adventure.
Fast, easy, efficient on-line as well as at the physical counter at the airport. Chevy Equinox was a pleasant surprise, as the website indicated I would have to settle for a Ford!! Car was clean, reasonably equipped and fun to drive. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because I believe no one is perfect and there is always room for improvement! Will definitely rent with Budget again.
Budget counter was closed so had to go to Avis. Such poor customer service from attendant who said negative things about her coworkers at other branches who were only helpful. Sent us back out to the car to check the odometer ourselves and was very short with us. Would avoid this location in the future if at all possible.
After my experince with Budget Rental I have decided that I will never use their rental service, or truly any rental service again. It was genuinely that off putting of an experience.My first pang from my rental experience came from the Under 24 fee that they charge you. The entire price of my rental went up 40% just based on my age despite the fact Ive never had an accident or traffic infraction in my life. I cannot blame Budget specifically for that one because all the rental companies do that. Out of the guise of protecting their cars but really so they can further squeeze money out of the people who need their rentals the most.I will say that the car I used for that weekend was lovely, great gas mileage.That being said, my second and greatest problem with Budget came when I returned the car. I was cutting things a bit close when returning the car. It was do back at 12 and I had to drive to and from Detroit that morning to drop off my girlfriend at the DTW airport. By the time I got back to Lansing it was already so close to 12 that I knew if I stopped to fill up is be late and theyd likely charge me a whole extra day. I figured Id drop the car off and tell them I didnt have the chance to fill up and pay the $30 or so dollars theyd charge me to fill the tank.Mind you this car gets excellent gas mileage and I had been filling the entire car for $25. I even gave it back with a quarter tank. I drop it off and its no problem.Fast forward to two days later when I get a notice that my account had been charged an extra $100. I called budget to ask what was wrong and the woman informed me that they charge $9.80 PER GALLON to refill their tanks in that situation. I was utterly blown away they could be so penny pinching with their customers.I told the woman on the phone, politely, I had no idea. She very rudely and curtly responded that I should have as it was written down in the three page size ten font rental agreement.The extra fees and charges on a daily business, thats something I can handle, every business that puts money before customers does that. What truly bothered me was the tone used by the service representatives when I had questions about all these frivolous charges. They were dismissal and treated me like some sort of buffoon for not having every aspect of their rental agreement memorized by heart. I will take my blame in not understanding the blood contract you have to sign with these people just to get a Corolla for the weekend, but that kind of customer service has lost this customer for good. Along with anyone I would have recommended them to.The reason for 3 stars instead of 1 after this ordeal is because after I called to try and understand this extra charge they were able to accommodate me. They have said theyll give me half gas back and only charge me $4.40 for each gallon as opposed to 9.80.Thats still the most expensive tank of gas Ive ever bought in my life but at least now I might be able to afford to eat.To summarize, understand that when you sign a contract with Budget, its basically an unholy union between your bank account and their coffers. Study your rental agreement as if it were the SATs because they have no qualms about charging you for any innocent ignorance.I truly do appreciate getting some of that money back on gas, that was very accommodating of this company, but Im afraid that the rest of the experience was nothing short of a nightmare.Next time Ill be taking the bus.
Worst experience ever, I usually rent the car from Hertz but this time I did it from Budget using my Costco membership because of the price difference. I am having issue with the car and called the Budget, Lansing airport location, a guy named Nik answered my call and told that I dont know how to drive the car and there is no issue with the car. I am very shocked at what he said and I have to go all the way to Detroit airport location to switch my car. I will also report Costco regarding my discomfort and will never rent a car from Budget and will go to Hertz next time.
The car was not clean at all had to return the car and re start the whole process over because of something unidentified stuff allover the inside back seat over the back passenger roof along the window I took pictures of it to show to the Agent she looked and said Ill just give you another car.
The vehicle had an awful smoke smell. We had to ride with the windows down as much as possible. We had to wash all of our clothes every time we rode in the car. Everyone in our family had to deal with headaches and congestion. It made for a very unpleasant experience.
Rates are very competitive and weve always received a clean well maintained vehicle often the current model year. Rates are very competitive with a good variety of makes and models.The Budget employee at LAN always remembers us, is knowledgeable, friendly and takes care of us quickly.
Ive rented from this facility many times. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was the worst and my last time. I was charged for more days than what I had the car for. After 3 phone calls, a case being opened and someone telling me that I would be receiving a refund I was just informed that there is nothing that they can do for me. Never again!!!
Nothing like finding out the day of our trip we need an actual credit card because they changed their policy and wouldnt take my debit card(which can still be charged as credit). And also wouldnt add a driver without them having a credit card as well. Wish i could leave zero stars dont feel like they deserve even one.

2022-05-27I usually rent from this location and have never had a problem. This time, upon arrival, the counter was unattended, so I was late getting to my event. The vehicle was dirty--especially the insect-stained windshield and then, there was no windshield washer fluid. Also, the vehicle felt and sounded loud--as if it was overdue for service.

2022-07-07Customer service rep showed an obvious lack of enthusiasm for my business. I waited 15+ minutes to receive a rental car. No apologies. When I returned the vehicle, the same rep asked Me to return to the vehicle to record the mileage (at all other rental services that I have used, this is a task that the rep takes care of themselves). Disappointing.

2022-02-19Worst experience ever from a car company. Reservation for vehicle pickup, get off the plane, and the counter is closed! NO ONE there to get me the vehicle! Why take a reservation if you cant have anyone there to deliver the car! Ruined entire trip as all other rentals sold out. DO NOT trust your reservation with this clown organization. Totally unreliable.

2022-03-17I scheduled a car rental for 8:00 pm and when I arrived the desk was closed. I woman who I assumed was a worker told me it was too late and I would need to come back in the morning after I had prepaid for my rental. I will not rent from them again.

2022-01-27Paid for rental using Bank Debit Card. Found out when I arrived to pick up car that a CREDIT CARD was ALSO required. What if I didnt have a credit card (which at the time I did not)? I had to call my son who lived in the area to return to give them a credit card. Extremely inconvenient. Also beware of hidden rental costs

2021-09-14Wanted to charge me an extra $400.00 to pick up the car one hour early. Not my fault the plane landed early. Car was filthy, inside & out. Lots of dents & dings that I had to document, on film, before leaving the lot. No one checked the car with me. Now the gal working the counter was amazing. She did her best to accommodate me and was friendly & kind.

2021-11-13I rented a one way car this morning. I had to cancel the trip so I brought the car back and you still charged me the one way fare. I would have thought a daily rate would have been applied but I guess not. So well start using Enterprise.
