Comment: I’ve rented from Budget/Brian and his team for approx 20 years and go to his Budget offices first for all my rental needs. He was particularly helpful to me when my grandfather’s health was declining (and he ultimately passed) and I needed a truck to tend to his affairs. Brian ‘took care of me’ during that time and each time I rent. He understands what a person is going through while traveling and his service is second to none. I’ve noticed people ‘trying to play games/be unreasonable’ at the rental counter when I am in line. Even the Brian is professional and patient. My co-worker bought a used budget rental car through Brian with no problems and the car runs great. Hats off to Brian and the Budget team!

Comment: How sad to see the degree of discrimination they have. 3 days before I rented a mini van without problems but 2 days later at the other agency they did not want to rent me everything was going well until I showed my license and visa then that was when they said they couldnt rent me, I returned to the original agency and they had already been warned not to rent me a car, even in the name of another person.Thats discrimination

Comment: Had a rental truck reservation from them and had to wait 2 hours for it to be ready. When I got to destination it was clear to see the attention to detail on their forms (especially the damage form) is awful compared to a higher performing location. Be careful as this low type of service may end up biting you later. Also they charged me for an extra day when I called and confirmed they would not. Currently disputing the transaction and getting my money back from these unethical folks.

Comment: When will corporate do something about Budget in Santa Maria? The broadway office was unavailable during its opening operating hour. This is an apparent trend with this office. Customer service stated wait two more minutes as the agent gets their late, the time was already 745 AM and they did not want to transfer the request to the Santa Maria airport terminal (SMX) office because it was too much work for him. Wife had to speak to a supervisor to make a change.When my wife finally gets to the SMX office they don’t have any vehicles with gps and all their units were broken. To slap insult to injury they recommended going back to the broadway office to get a working unit rather than reimburse the additional cost. The counter agent said to either take the broken unit, get a new one from broadway office, or call to get reimbursed because they can’t reimburse from their end. Who does this to their customers? Avoid Budget Car Rental services at all cost!

Comment: Reserved through Expedia. Had reservation but the reservation was totally messed up on their end not Expedias. They figured that out and then tried putting me in a car with a missing hub cap! I had to wait for an airport transfer in which I couldnt sit because the chairs in the waiting area were disgusting! The ladies in the office wouldnt offer me any kind if other car because they only had 4 cars in the lot. Try Enterprise or the airport for car renrals in Santa Maria. Dont waste your time.

Comment: I am a long time Budget customer but, no more. I made a 7AM reservation at the SM airport location. There was no agent and no car when I arrived. I called the 800 number. I was told to go to the downtown location. They had to search for an available car and bring it from another location. It is now 8AM and Im still waiting. I was not offered a discount and it didnt seem like the agent cared. Something similar happened the last time I used Budget and I thought it might be a 1 time thing but, I was wrong. I dont know what happened to this company. Very sad.

Comment: Horrible experience! Go to U-Haul! I give it a 0. I reserved a truck over a week in advance. When I showed up, the lady said she just called me that morning to tell me they didnt have the truck and were trying to find one in LA. I didnt have a missed call or voice mail. She had the correct phone number but wrong pick up time. Why they didnt know in advance they dont have trucks is hard to believe. She offered one 8 feet smaller or to wait until one showed up the following day. I couldnt believe it! They were not helpful or sympathetic that I had a moving schedule. I dont know how the location is still in business. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND U-Haul off of Bettteravia. The guy moved things around so I could get a truck! Great service! Truly a life saver! The truck runs great and it was over $150.00 cheaper. Dont waste your time with this place. It needs to be shut down.

Comment: The owners are racist, and question the reason for your car rental. I ask why own a rental car/truck company if you ask every customer where theyre going, and how many miles will you be putting. Its none of your business where Im going. DONT RENT HERE! Even their rep is looking for new job as she feels the same... Ha ha

Comment: If I could give this less than a star I would. They didnt explain anything to me in any way. Turns out I had to have the truck to the drop off location by 9:22 am. On the contract its stated as 9.22.11.am in the smallest print you can think of and the ink is smudged there. The truck was uncomfortable and smelt like cigarettes and alchohol. When I got to the drop off location 2 hours late they charged me 145 dollars!? And when I got the truck there was no tag on the Keychain I was given, when dropping off they charged me 6 dollars for a piece of paper that wasnt there when I received it. Overall review, do not use budget, spend the extra money for u haul or penske.

Comment: NO STARS! The worst place to rent a car. I had a van rental reservation 3 days before my departure and when the date came they decided to call 2.5 hrs prior to the pickup and let me know that they didnt have a van available. When I asked when did they know they didnt have one they said since 1 day ago but decided to just wait and give me a truck option instead and bill me the difference. The woman on the phone was the worst her incompetence is amazing, I dont even know how she can hold a job with that attitude. When I decided to not get a vehicle from her she got a real nasty attitude like it was my fault. After everything I didnt even get my full refund like enterprise car rental has done in the past they hold money back because you canceled even though it was their fault. RENT ENTERPRISE CARS! Way better company!
