Byers Wrecker Service in other cities:
Im sure as a tow company in general, theyre fine. Nothing special that I could tell. I do think the rates are excessive, but unbelieve that about all tow companies. The tow industry as a whole is a giant racket, but then again isnt everything? They basically get to charge whatever they want no matter how ridiculous because you dont have a choice. Especially when it comes to impounds. You know they have to kick a certain amount of their crazy fee back to the police who called them. In a wreck they juice the insurance company when they can, they juice you if they cant.. always putting the squeeze on someone. Its damn near extortion. But Im sure if you were in a pinch and had a boat load of money you didnt mind parting with, theyd show up and take your stuff wherever you pay em to take it so middle of the road 3 stars. Cant hate the player I suppose. Hate the game.. stupid game it is. Cant stand it.
Ive had to use these guys twice. Once for this location and the one in Clarkston. Theres a reason for the other amazing reviews. I got stuck on a snow hill being stupid and called them. They immediately got somebody out to help me. Last year I was dead in the water with a broken off break pad and they got there super fast and had me towed out of the middle of busy Dixie hwy. I cant say enough good things. Hopefully I dont have to use any towing service again but if I do, I will always call these guys.
These people are practically a police impound. They towed my car with all of my 2 month old babys clothes and stroller and wont give me not one item from inside of the vehicle back.Stay away from Rochester and their traps. The cops drive around all day without any real crime to fight so they run plates and prey on the less fortunate people that happen to pass.Byers claims to be a family owned business that serves their community but they really work for the police by doing all of their dirty work while at the same time squeezing profit out of peoples misfortunes. After being in business since the 1950s Byers knows all of the tactics that a tow truck company could use to steal your money and they practice them daily 24 hours a day.Just like the bored cops that patrol the area Byers is not there to serve you, they only care about taking your money either willingly through misquoting their prices like other people have stated in their reviews or forcefully through police interaction.
The tow truck driver was a PRO and very conscientious of my car. He told me that the cost was $125 (that is more than their norm because it is a collectible) to hook up and $4.00 per mile. We went 38 miles so the cost should have been $277. When the driver called into the office to confirm the Owner Jim Byers told him to charge me $400. The driver was honest about it and told me the charge but should be $277 but he couldn’t do anything about it. Of course I had to pay it but I then called American Express and they took care of it for me.
The guy who towed my husbands car was nice enough, but felt like he was pushing their business. Didnt like that feel. Then when my husband tried to go access his car, with his proper information, the guy behind the counter didnt know him so denied him access. He had to wait until the guy who actually towed him, who recognized him, to be there to let him into the vehicle. Bad business.
Helped me when my car wouldn’t start and was stuck on the side of the road. The truck was there in about 30 minutes. The man who helped me, Austin, was an all around good dude. I was very impressed with how professional, kind, and considerate he was of my situation. Thank you for your help, I’d recommend this place for sure!
Quick response, fair rate. Wouldve given 5 stars if I hadnt been immediately bombarded by requests for ratings from two different numbers, before Id thawed out enough to drive home.Simply needed a boost, after leaving lights on for 40 minutes on a 20 degree day. Driver was friendly, knowledgeable, and got me going less than 5 minutes after arriving. $25-$45 charge is what I expected based on living in Virginia last few years, $50 not bad for Detroit metro area.Chose Byers based on Google rating and the fact that they were closest to my location. Would definitely use them again if needed.Just cool it with the follow up, hey? Allow 90 minutes for a person to feel human again and express their appreciation, instead of irritating the sh*t out of him while hes trying to get back on schedule.Note: Owner responded very nicely to my original review. I should note that I realize the requests for a review were likely part of an automated service system, which at its core is a good thing - businesses that give poor service dont care what customers think once theyve paid.SINCE REVIEWS ARE FOR SERVICE PROVIDED, WHICH WAS EXCELLENT, UPGRADED TO 5 STARS.
Driver polite, professional. He pumped up a flat tire so I could get the car into the local tire store 10 mins from my home. I love everything about Byers, except their biggest flaw--they do not take AAA.I dont mind the extra step of taking the original receipt copy for the $50 service and mailing it to AAA. I soooo get it, how dealing with Corporate America can be a hassle to a great, well-run, successful local company like Byers Wrecker. Its hell working for them too as I discovered in my nursing career. Corporate America can be arrogant and heavy-handed with rules and policies for everyone in their wake. I am sure you were told to play by AAAs rules or leave. You made the wise choice for the sake of your values which is admirable.
We needed to get one of our vehicles to the auto shop for repairs and it was very easy to call Byers and schedule it. They showed up when they said they would and picked up the car then delivered it without any issues. Definitely worth the money. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs a tow.
Let me start by saying that I have never given a google review before. I understand that many people use reviews to find services, and the last thing I want to do is hurt a good businesses rating because of one bad experience. If i could rate Byers based on service I would give them a 5. If i could rate them on value I would give them a 1. My wife and about 20-30 other moms were stuck on the grass at the local elementary school in Rochester the other day. It had rained for three days straight so they were all able to pull into the flat grassy overflow parking area just as they normally do. Long story short, Byers had 5 or so trucks there in a heartbeat to pull out the cars at about 5-10 minutes per car. The service was friendly. My issue is that each person was charged $75. I am all about being an opportunist when it comes to business, but $75 per car seems a bit excessive. I am not saying to not use them. Just know that they arent trying to be affordable.
Absolutely excellent experience with Byers. I just needed a tow from my apartment to the nearby Belle Tire, so I called in a roadside assistance request through my insurance company. 3 hours later and I am still waiting. I ended up calling Byers based on the great Yelp reviews. An hour later, I had my Jeep towed and i was back home. Just amazing service, from the lady who took my request to Phil who towed my Jeep and gave me a lift back home. I cant say enough about how great Phil was. He arrived earlier than expected, told me to relax in the truck to get out of the cold and he would take care of getting my Jeep on the truck, then he had my Jeep off the truck and in a spot at Belle Tire in the short time it took me to fill out the overnight drop box form. Really appreciated his efficiency, his friendliness, the pride he took in his job and for being kind enough to give me a lift home. Thank you again for excellent service. Cannot recommend Byers enough.
Easy to make an appointment for pickup. Super courteous on the phone. Driver was prompt, EXACTLY on time. Got the car up quickly and efficiently, got me to the repair shop quickly. Parked the car for me and ran the keys into me while I was waiting to talk to someone at the shop. Highly recommend Byers!
Absolutely best knowledgeable driver I ever had. Piece of cake for him to get me unstuck out of 1.5 feet of snow drifts and tow me straight uphill 3 blocks no problem .highly recommend this company. Service was really quick too. PLus gentle with the whole episode and my car
I was stuck deep in a ditch in the middle of a snow storm. Byers was busy but they got to me with in an hour. The guy was very professional and it wasn’t easy to extract the vehicle but he did it very methodical and every move was well thought out. No damage and no hassle. Great job!
Dispatcher was polite and understanding. The estimated time of arrival was 9:51. It actually arrived 10 minutes earlier! Our driver, Ray, was fantastic. Ray was quick, professional and knowledgeable. He was also very kind and patient (I was a bit flustered). His kindness and humanity was unexpected and appreciated. All and all the experience with Byers Wrecker Service was pleasant, of high quality work and standards. I would recommend Byers to everyone. I always trust my car to them and their contact is even saved in my phone.Thank you for your reliability and GIVE RAY A RAISE!
This is the first ever review I am writing on google. This company so called byers wrecker towed my vehicle to their location which was less than 4 miles from the accident spot without informing me or did not even show the courtesy to ask me where I wanted my car to be towed.I should have asked them about the location but right after an accident it takes time to recover from the shock and also I was in the process of giving a statement to the cops. The next day I went to their location to inspect the condition of my car and decide if it can be fixed or not. They said that I cannot even have a look at my car until I pay the due. The due was 130$ for base towing and 60$ for storage which is basically 30$ per day and they charged me for two days while my car was actually sitting there for less than 24 hours. I agreed to pay. After the payment was made I inspected the car and decided to take my car for fixing. I called my insurance to get my car towed and when the insurance tow truck arrived to take my car this byers wrecker company says that it is their policy which does not allow other company vehicles into their compound. So, the rule is that only they can bring my vehicle out of their compound and that will charge me an extra 80$. When I argue that the distance is just few meters and 80$ is too expensive for it, they say it is what it is!!This policy was never mentioned to me nor did I agreed to any such policy before they were taking my vehicle or while I was paying for the due amount earlier. Out of respect for the other towing truck which was waiting for me I had to pay off the Extra 80$ having no other option. They were just taking advantage of the whole situation to make easy money. Shame on you for using such cheap tactics and calling it a policy. I do not see any reason except greed for charging me so much to move my car a few yards .Altogether I ended up paying 285$ which includes 4% credit card charge, towing charge for less than 4 miles, storage charge for less than 24 hours and the extra charge to get my car out of their gate. Finally, I would like to say that you have some serious issues with your policy if it makes you take advantage of a customers difficult situation. And to whoever is reading this please beware of such companies.
My son was in an accident. They towed my car without consent to their yard. Worried about my child health and what the hospital had to say, I didnt contact them for a few days. No mention of storage fee or anything. I have never used a tow service for ANYTHING!!!!! Then I go there and they say its totaled. I said ok, what do I need to do! The rude old lady said sign this and clean it out!!! Ok, thats what I did..... Enough interaction with her to get more info as I had to go back in to barrow a screwdriver to take the license plate off. Then back in to return it..... Each time, very rude lady at the desk. I told her several times, please tell me everything I need to do as Ive never handled anything like this by myself. More than a month and a half later......I get a bill for over $1000 !!!!!! What? I call, nice guy talked to me and I went down there to discuss. Now old lady back and different guy and he says, of course your charged for every day its here. Now and only now Im told that I have to arrange a scrap yard...... Which they wont release to until I pay this attrocios bill....... But, will continue to charge me DAILY! I went to the police and they cant do anything although, they verbalized apologies and also stated the whole situation sounds wrong! Last step, I go back and get him to release the car to the scrap yard too ensure my charges stop racking up...... He finally agreed if I sign the money the scrap yard pays to Byers! So, again I think our dealings are over and havent heard from them since. Over a year later, I get a large bill from a collection agency, Ok! Im far from stupid! Im a 50 year old nurse! Sorry, I dont know the towing business or how everything works! At no point was I told or given prices, steps to take, who to call!!!! What a scam!!!! I suppose they need to be good at something! Their attitudes and customer service is an all time low! Way to take advantage of a women and teenager! Please know, Im a nurse, Im taking care of a husband on hospice and have triplets that graduated high school in 2020! You wont bring me down if all that hasnt! Karma.........
This is the second time I have had Byers Wrecking Service come to change out my flat tire. Not only do they arrive and work quickly, but both gentlemen who worked on my car have been incredibly nice and genuinely good to chat with. As a woman, I have experienced men treating me in a demeaning manner when it comes to cars, but Ive not had that experience with Byers Wrecking as both gentlemen have been so polite and informative. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs car assistance.
I had an awesome experience with Byers and working with Mike. He reassured me he’d do everything he could to help me with my car being towed. I had an unfortunate experience and my car had to be towed from a parking garage. He was compassionate, friendly and answered any questions I had. Reassured me that they l’d take care of my car and wouldn’t cause and further damage during my tow, and he did that and more! Thankful to have had a great experience with Mike. He did amazing!!
Came out within 30 minutes after I called. Started pouring rain while he was loading up the car and he didn’t mind getting soaked. Mike was a really nice guy and loaded up and unloaded in a timely manner. The price was lower than I thought. Overall, I was very happy about the experience.
My first call is always to Byers Wrecker Service, because they provide excellent service when my Vehicle dies. I was experiencing technical issues with my vehicle one day, then it happened. The van died and wouldn’t start. Since it was cold outside, I decided to call for a tow instead of looking under the hood. Byers responded promptly and I was home in no time. You can trust Byers. Regards, Joe G
I got a flat tire on M 59 with the temperature being 4° outside. I called for Byers wrecker service they were there within 20 minutes. The representative had my tire changed within 10 minutes and I was on my way to work.Excellent service, excellent company. Would highly recommend.
Polite and personable gentleman towed my car from a shop to my house. The process was uncomplicated and the interaction with the driver took the edge off a stressful day, a little common courtesy can go a long way. Also, their price was very fair especially considering the speed and quality of service.
Awesome service! These guys showed up in no time. I was stuck on the on ramp for I-75 in 5 degree weather expecting to wait hours with a blown tire. I was to my dealer 15 miles away having my tire changed within 1 hour total of blowing my tire. This is customer service at its finest!
Needed a tow service in Royal Oak. They came out fast, they got there even faster than they told me they would. The driver was very friendly and let me ride with him to the shop my car was going to so I wouldnt have to figure out my own transportation there. He drove responsibly, too, which might sound obvious but these days you never know.
On star said that Byers would be there in 45 minutes to an hour but they were there within 10 minutes. I was so happy. The driver was very knowledgeable and personable. He was able to lift my car off of the parking sign that I ran over in minutes. He then had me driveMy car around him to make sure nothing was broken. I was able to drive home because all of the damage was done to the outside of my car!
After getting left out in the cold for four hours by AAA roadside at 1AM, Byers came through twice in one week to help me out. Their drivers were both professional, courteous, and very quick at getting me off the shoulder and back home. They also helped accommodate moving my other car with no motor or transmission in it, what I thought would be a possible challenge, turned out to be just business as usual to their driver. Highly recommended and will do business again in the future for sure!
First, the tow service was fantastic. My front tires were locked, so rather than drag it up and ruin my tires, the driver walked it up onto the bed. It was a new thing for me to see and it was really cool to see in person.Second, five months after the service, I required a receipt to try to get a refund from the manufacturer (a recall was issued for what I had repaired). Bob, the dispatcher, got me what I needed and it was in my inbox within five minutes. Thoroughly impressed. Thanks, guys!
The driver was a half hour faster getting to me than they said he would be, which was nice. He was very friendly and helpful. He ask me if I got everything out of my car. I told him I thought I did. He took a quick look and ask me if I needed my phone charger, garage door opener and handicap tag. I don’t know how I overlooked that stuff. Thank the lord he’s thoughtful enough to take the time to do that for his customers. I couldn’t have expected more, but I could’ve easily got less with someone else. I’ve had to use my AAA towing card a couple times in the last 6 months, and I’ve had good service both times, but nothing like this time.
There is no way to describe how extremely disappointed and inappropriate their service is. I was involved in a major car accident was reassured by the driver as well as the Oakland county sheriffs department the due to the fact that this accident was not my fault and would be in the hospital that we would be able to get my items out of the vehicle without problem and out charge it is been just over two weeks and they are requiring almost $1,000 for me to get a coat and a few other items out of a totaled vehicle. I would not recommend this service to Satan himself please be careful and do not use this service by any means necessary.
I had Byers move two cars from storage to my house. Both are American 1968 models that mean quite a bit to me. Byers sent Glen to do the moving and as I understand it, he is one of two drivers that are very experienced in this type of move. Glen arrived when he said he would and was driving a truck that was very clean and very well cared for. (I’ve seen some tow companies whose trucks look like they might need to be towed themselves).Glen was quite professional, obviously experienced and took great care in the move. He even assisted me in moving the cars once they were in my garage and gave me a good lead on some wheel dollies I should consider buying. He did his part to give Byers Wrecker a fantastic image. In all, the move went smoothly and I couldn’t be more satisfied. The cost of the move was reasonable too. I would most definitely call this company again for moving or towing any of my cars. You should too.
The driver, Phil, if I remember right was terrific! Knowledgeable courteous and efficient. I felt that he had everything under control. He even found a problem that I had missed but we still needed to take the vehicle in. Halving a vehicle towed is to me a bit embarrassing but he was nice and calming!! Great job, would recommend you to anyone I know who needs a tow!!
Horrible service as expected from any impound lot; incompetent little girls that work there and they dont have a clue what customer service is nor any professionalism. Ive been calling for 3 days straight, same stupid girl picks up and resolves **it for me. Youre all ignorant. You have my number, you call me mr fake owner.
I was in a pinch on a REALLY hot day and Byers came out to me TWICE in a very short amount of time to make sure I had my vehicle repaired to get my kids before school got out. Josh was the gentleman helping me and he was AWESOME!! Very helpful and patient since I wasn’t too familiar with the car I was driving. Thank you, Josh!!!
Although they didnt call me 15 minutes before they arrived, they unlocked the car door as if they had the key... the key of magic, that is! Very Very happy with the service!👌Thank you AAA and Thank You Beyers for helping us get back into our locked car in which the keys were in!🤗🤗🥰😍
I had a emergency with my car on a Sunday where I couldn’t take it to any car shop to fix my car that day I called Byers and they sent me out one of the nicest tow drivers named Matt . Very professional went above and beyond with handling my car even though the car shop he towed it to was not open on a Sunday he made sure to take it off the truck carefully so that it won’t cause more trouble than what it had been in . Oh yea the timing for the tow arrival was good also . I don’t know if it was because it was the week but Matt arrived on time 👍
I am very satisfied with Byer’s service. The dispatcher said it could be 30-40 minutes before the wrecker was available, but he was able to meet me within 10 minutes.Since I was not familiar with the area, I asked the tow truck driver where he would recommend taking my car. He called the owner and they recommended an auto shop they personally used. He was even able to bill the auto shop for the towing fee, so it will be added to the repair bill instead of on-the-spot.Hopefully, I won’t need another tow anytime soon, but if I do, I know who I will call!
Dan was so helpful to me in my time of need on my way to work. I was a woman alone traveling with my German Shepherd and I had a flat tire. The doggy ended up going for a nice ride on the flat bed truck and Dan was very good with her while he hoisted up my car so I could get my flat tire fixed. Great experience and it was no time at all when he showed up to collect me. Thanks Byers!
The service was great. They were on time, promised me a call when they were 10 minutes away and they did. When they arrived they were quick to hook up and the truck was very clean and did not smell!!! I would recommend them to family and or friends. And they are locked in on my phone if I need them in the future. Thank you for a great experience!!
My teenage son hit a massive pothole and blew out his tire and had the same issue with his spare just down the same pothole filled road. Called Byers and talked to Josh who was out in 30 minutes and took awesome care of us and our car. 100% would recommend this company to anyone looking to call a tow service.
I’m not sure who my driver was but I think it was truck 685. I was impressed by his “science” loading up my truck. There was not a wasted step. It was interesting watching him get my truck out of the garage. I could sure tell he’s done that a time or two. His every move seemed to be calculated. Nice job :)
I was turned down by the first place I called because I was out of their area although my destination was within a mile of their office, but at least they recommended Byers and it worked out really good. The friendly driver arrived with a truck in about 50 minutes and got to the destination 28 miles away about 10 minutes after me (I had another ride).
The accident site super fast set the accident site super fast and was even able to go the extra mile and drop me off at ER while he was taking my car back to their lot. Since it was on its way. He saved me at least an hour and the emergency room waiting room by doing a that way! He was wonderful!
I’ve known these guys for at least 30 years and trust my family to their service. As a AAA service provide I am always glad to hear they are on the way. They are prompt, curtious and always go above and beyond to make sure the jobs get done right. Safety is also something I am glad is a high priority for them. Always professional.
Had a skid steer stuck deep in the mud. We thought it was going to take forever to get out. The driver pulled up and said “that’s it?” He hooked up and pulled it out in 2minutes. Saved our work day!!!I am editing this post. Today is 12/16/19. Today I got a 308 Caterpillar excavator stuck in the shore of a pond up to the cab. They came and saved the day. I thought I was going to need to call a crane because of the location. They gave me an awesome price as well. 👍🏼👍🏼
Dan is the man!! He was the driver and was wonderfully calming, friendly but not too friendly, as he was as sensitive to the needs of me not being in a good mood, if I needed a tow truck. He was fast and efficient and helped to make the rest of my day go more smoothly. Definitely enjoys his work! Thank Heaven for that! The only thing I would recommmend for Byers is calling the person when you know you are going to be late with another emergency call that comes in.
The Byers two-man crew went above and beyond the call of duty in making sure my 1952 Jaguar Roadster got safely onto and off of the Byers hauler and onto a cross-country transport semi. They were thoughtful, careful, methodical and took extra precautions to avoid any possible damage. They treated my vehicle as if were their own. Great job! And yes! I will definitely call Byers again the next time I need hauling services.
On one of the coldest days in history less than a 15 minute wait and the driver was more concerned about keeping myself out of the elements and out of the wayAnd update. Used again to help get a classic home for spring cleaning and their attention to detail to insure a safe journey was outstanding
John was amazing! He initially came out to jump start the car. But after much effort, it still would not start up. So he towed it to my aunt and uncles house. Once we were at the house, he pushed it into the spot I needed it to be in. Then he even hooked up the battery again so we could put the car in park and roll up the windows. He went out of his way to help. Definitely recommend this place!
These guys are the best. Honestly, no one ever wants to need be towed and it sucks when it happens. Embarrassingly, I have needed them more than once and each time the driver has been kind and helpful. I needed a tow today and yesterday (Christmas) and both times the drivers were so amazing and helpful. I wish I knew their names so I could give them credit. Thanks guys for making a crappy situation tolerable!
Quick arrival, Fast Service, Friendly help.Another blow out on 69...got the bolts off, and had the spare...but when I when it was time to take off the shredded tire, my mind flashed back to 6 months ago, when some idiot busted Mercedes’ version of what they consider a “jack,” so, unfortunately we had to call a tow service just because I forgot about the broken jack, but the point is, I’m glad we called Byers. They were quick, kind, and gave us peace of mind.
I have to say that among my many experiences with AAA Roadside , my latest claim resulted in record response time! Byers Towing of Rochester was at my vehicle in less than 20 minutes from my call to AAA! I was on the road within 35 minutes! Best timing, actually, of any tow truck exper that I’ve ever had, even when self paying! They were able to make what could’ve been a very overwhelming situation more of a relief than anything! Thanks Byers!
Ever since I moved out to Rose Township AAA or All State has sent Byers Wrecker Towing and the driver has always been kind and courteous and careful with my automobiles. And if you want to have a conversation with him during the ride, they don’t mind. Thanks for hiring great guys.
Called for a truck when my cars cooling system busted. I wasn’t sure where I was because I’m new to the area but they located me with the few businesses I could see around me. Driver showed up within 10 minutes and had us to the shop within half an hour. Reasonable price and made a stressful situation easy. Thank you!
My daughter broke down on the side of m-59 & crooks, shes a new driver and was upset and scared of being hit. I was driving home from work and trying to make it over to where she was to pick her up. I called Byers to come out and tow her car. They arrived quickly, less than 20 minutes. The driver was very professional and very caring. He got my daughter and her vehicle off the roadway quickly and waited nearby for me to come pick her up. Their driver went above and beyond to help us out! I would not hesitate to call them again, great service!!
My experience was horrible! I am a female and have lived in Rochester for 22 years I sell cars in Rochester, Byers towing is all I see. On Memorial Day my car broke down on M-59 by I-75 I called Byers and the man on the phone was very rude I have never had to have a car towed before, It was 90 degrees out and Im stranded on the side of the road. and I asked him how long he said 45 min to an hour. I asked well can I just pay you over the phone and they can tow it without me? He said well how am I going to verify your identity? He was so rude about it! If I do that that is fraud? I hung up and immediately called Adlers towing who was referred to me they came out within 15 min and were so nice and it was awesome service by the man who answered and the driver!!!!! The next day I called Byers to complain a lady answered and I asked for the owner she said he is not here but I can take a message and have him call you, she proceeded to tell me that was a driver that was working that day and the owner never called! Will NEVER use or recommend Byers EVER!!!
Maybe leaving this review will finally get someones attention.I had my car towed on April 21st at about 9am. The gentleman taking my car couldnt have cared less about getting the address to where I needed it to go. He told me he would be there in a little over an hour. I call my Ins, the shop, etc to make arrangements. Turns out they never took it there. But instead had taken it to back to their yard because they were under staffed. So because they were busy they charged me $175 to have it towed hours later after being told it would have been there in an hour. And to top it off, they also charged me $50 for a Oil spill cleaning fee. Funny part about that is there was no oil spilled. My insurance agent was at the shop at the time I was quoted with no car. Didnt come back out until the following business day, pushing my back 4 days. All because they couldnt tow it like they said they were going to.Fast forward to know. Ive called 5 times to speak with the owner since this is who the peoplw say I need to speak to. I have left 4 messages with the person answering as well as a voicemail for the owner himself (this was 5 days ago) and still no call. I called a moment ago to a women who had little to no interest in helping me out.Its now May 6th and still no call. Avoid them. Even if the police department recommends them I encourage you to call someone else for a tow. How you guys have a rating over 4 baffles me.Ill delete once this is resolved.
Excellent service! I required help out front yesterday and they were very courteous and helpful for myself and my small child. I called to check on the car today and the car has been taken to the dealership I requested and stated that my payment arrangements will only be with the dealership. I truly appreciate these guys!
This was my 2nd time using Byers.I give the driver Mike from rochester 5 stars. He showed up in under 30 minutes which was a life saver when your stranded roadside w 2 small children. Hooked up my suv and towed it almost 30 miles to the repair shop. Thank you !My first time using these guys and their great .The driver showed up quick and loaded my crew cab dually onto the flatbed like it was a kids toy ! A+
Very good and quick service. after having a blow and waiting over 2 and a half hrs for another service truck. my roadside assistance company called byers. they gave a eta of 45 mins but we on scene and had me towed in 15 mins. being stuck on a major highway in the dark is terrible in the dark while waiting for service isnt a good thing but byers saved the day after only 15 mins of getting the call
Rude staff. My wifes car was wrongfully towed. I realize they were only doing their job but SOMETIMES THE CUSTOMER IS RIGHT! I had to drive 45 min to get it off their lot because the car was in my name and they wouldnt release it to my wife. $285 and it was there less than hour. FYI, I was reimbursed 100% by the business that called them.
I have worked in the towing industry for around a decade. I needed a tow myself when I was far from home and called Byers. They arrived very fast, knew what they were doing and their prices are fair. Highly recommend them! As for these 1 star comments, looks like people I deal with. They get their cars impounded by the police department and blame the towing company. All their rates won a bid to do the police towing so you know the rates are fair. Some people just dont like paying for services they didnt want, like when you are arrested and your car gets impounded or your in an accident and dont have insurance. Stop being haters! Byers is the best!
I wish the tow truck driver could have showed some grace and compassion. I had no idea I would hit a pothole, nor would I have any idea that school would be closed because of the weather and Id have kids home. My car was right outside the sub I work in, and I couldnt get over there to deliver the keys to him. Another guy called and said they were having a hard time finding my car, so I told him where it was and asked if the driver could swing by and get my keys because I couldnt leave the kids. Well, he showed up and I walked out and gave him the keys. With his huffy and puffy attitude, I told him Im sorry if I inconvenienced you, and he said I didnt know Id have to go through a subdivision. Im sorry if 1/4 of a mile (literally in and out in a half loop) was so incredibly difficult for you to navigate. Thank you for being so disrespectful to md. Id also like to thank you for leaving my car dead so it had to be jumped when I picked it up at the tire store. Ill remember to never recommend you, nor use you in the future.**This was the Clarkston location
Byers should be teaching all wrecker drivers across the nation about how to swiftly, intelligently, and courteously help when people have accidents. Their drivers are excellently trained and so darn good at their jobs. I was an acquaintance of Gene and Glenda Byers in the 1980s and have used the Byers Wrecker Service for over 40 years. They offer nothing but good honest service to the public.
For a car to be taken/stolen these people WERE NOT RIGHT there is NO REASON you guy should charge someone SO MUCH if it wasnt even the owners fault u guys should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!! An the way u do things is also WRONG...... Let it be someone u know though I bet EVERYTHING would have been ok.....
Granddaughter vehicle in the ditch from poor road conditions and being a young driver. Excellent work by the young man on a snowy day. I saw first hand and understand why the law was passed to move over to give law enforcement and tow truck driver a safe environment but seem ignored by many motorist. The motorist even ran over the flare that was placed in the roadway to give them a warning to move over. Stay safe tow truck drivers.
My blazer was towed there have appointment with secretary of state insurance and they refuse to release i even though the police wont give you a ticket byers will steal your car and laugh 😆 at YOU CONTACT the attorney General like I did this very low people are getting rich off others misery
Towing service was punctual, however I take serious issue with their storage fees. I had to get my car towed in a week before Christmas because I had hit a deer on the road. I could not take the car home at the time and I couldnt just leave it on the road, so I called Byers to tow it and store it. This all happened at around 8pm. I came by the very NEXT day when they opened at 8am, and they charged me a storage fee for TWO days!!! I asked why and was told that it was charged according to calendar day! This makes absolutely no sense!!!! I had only had the car there for 12 HOURS!! They also charged me $97 to take my car 8.2 miles away....Im not sure if there are better prices but that just seems like a ridiculous price to charge. NEver going there or recommending them.
Ive been doing business with Byers wrecker service for 30 some-odd years. Mr. Byers used to live in the subdivision just north of me. Its a family business they work hard they give great service I never call anyone else but Byers Wrecker Service. I notice that not every reviewer is a happy camper. That sort of stuff just doesnt happen to me. I been retired for a very long time. i have a code i live by. One of the rules is i never interfere with a working person. Felons in this country do their time but are not forgiven. They end up with zero white collar options.
I was driving my work vehicle when I encountered a blowout on Interstate 75... I called AAA, and they dispatched Byers Wrecker Service. Within about a half an hour they had a wrecker to my site, loaded up my work truck and took it to the local Belle Tire. The driver was extremely personable and friendly and I couldnt have asked for a better encounter in an otherwise frustrating situation
Goes above and beyond. A bit of a story here: I was parked in a car lot off of Sashabaw road, had just came back from a long weekend of racing sailboats, it was late on a Sunday, I left a light on in my car - battery is dead. I call up AAA and get my wait time. Another thing I did was walk into a Culvers to finally eat some food, I was on the phone with a friend explaining what happened when Bill Byer asked me what was going on, I told him, it turns out that one of his guys was dispatched on the call. Instead of carrying on with his dinner and letting someone else take care of it, he called his employee off, we ate, and then he drove me back over to my car and jumped it for me. I find that to be very special, I know a jump is not a big deal for these guys but what Bill did for me actually meant a lot to me. I find that so much service these days has lost that personal touch. Bill and I had a great dinner and a great conversation! Thank you again Bill Byer! you are a class act!
Called AAA with arrival time of 45 mins. To 1hr 30 mins. Due to many calls on a day after a heavy snow. I went sideways down into a culvert. Tow truck arrive in 30 minutes. Out in 20 minutes due to ice conditions. Great arrival time and great work getting me out. 2 thumbs up.
Drove my little car straight thru a curve today and buried it. Called byers and within 20 mins a younger kid, i dont remember his name unfortunately, came out and hauled my car right out. Did a great job, knew exactly how to winch the car out without causing any extra damage. Would absolutely recommend and will use in the future.
Dispatcher hung up on us twice on 3-1-18. Said we were rude. Not true. GOOGLE search says they service Bloomfield Hills but after calling they said no. Terrible customer service. We are in the service industry and they should not be. Will be contacting owner tomorrow. Boulevard-Trumbull came to help our service technician.
First AAA gave me an hour window. The revised estimate was texted for 30 miniures. Not ten minutes later, the truck showed up. I had been berating myself for not doing s splash and go before trying to get to Costco gas station and fill up. Car computer had said I had 40 miles fuel. 23 miles later car died. Young nan pouring gas in assuredly me several times it was nothing, not to worry. Helped me laugh it off.
I am incredibly disappointed with the business practices of this company. My car was towed away under convoluted circumstances that I strongly feel were predatory. It feels as if they have aligned themselves with some pretty shady characters. The driver told me it would be one price but when I arrived at the tow yard they tacked on additional money. The associate I had the misfortune of dealing with was very short, uninterested in a polite conversation with her customer, and held my car hostage until I paid their hidden fee. I have never felt so disrespected or humiliated by a company. I feel like Rochester Hills really deserves better than these people. If I could give zero stars I would.
Wow! This place is run by bandits, man. Daughter smacked up her car. These clowns towed it to their lot rather than to her apartment - 1/2 mile away. Told her it HAD to go to their lot. Yep, thier lot for storage fees. My collision shop arranged for a tow truck after they neglected to move my car earlier this morning - uh a schedule THEY arranged, by the way.. Of course they said its on the truck heading out an hour ago at 4:15. It is clearly on the lot (have the chimps working at Byers NOT heard of text messaging and cameras on phones???). Worse, they told my insurance adjuster is was on the truck at 10:00 a.m. The collision shop tow truck is there and Byers is demanding $375 for cleanup, towing and storage overnight. Cleanup from what? No broken glass or plastic; the transmission shifter linkage came off which means the car runs but wont move. Heck, the airbag didnt even deploy! Next they said they werent even sure which car was mine because they store them by VIN and not customer name. Funny how each time I called they asked me what my name was. If you want to be ripped off then treated like YOU are the idiot, these dopes are for you.
I used to work in the vehicle repair industry.. we used to use Bryers all the time.. this morning I had someone come and smack my car to where it wasn’t driveable. My insurance called Jakes to tow me... Fine, it’s their contract, I know the game.... 4 hours later I called and spoke to the guy who told me he’d be by in 35 minutes to pick it up... then he said he never spoke to me...WHAT are you smoking?! I called my insurance claims agent and told them to cancel Jake’s and I wanted Bryers! Bryers had my car on the truck 30 min later. Driver was a good guy.. thanks for all the help! —Black GTI Guy.

2022-02-13My car decided to blow an air line 30 miles away from home. Even though the car was practically laying frame on the side of a 75 on ramp, the drivers for Byers were able to load it without issue. The care and ingenuity they showed won’t be forgotten. Never had a bad experience with them, but this one was special.

2021-10-31If I could put 10 stars I would! My insurance company sent a tow truck company from Southgate Michigan to Auburn Hills to assist me because me and my sons vehicle was stuck in the ditch (he slid off and I tried to assist). Mr.Byers pulled up like a man sent by God! He schooled the rookie that initially showed up. Mr.Byers laid down some flashing hazard lights and promptly got us on our way!

2022-05-22I had called them for my neighbor who couldnt speak English and her and her boyfriend had gotten their car stuck on the curb parking spot. My neighbors were pretty embarrassed but they were grateful. I made them feel comfortable, because I guess 2 other places wouldnt come. When I got home and saw what happened, the holy spirit made me help and call Byers wrecker. They really are fast and efficient and helped them out. Told estimated wait time was one hour and that was fine!!! Great job Byers, God bless your business and I hope you get more business and great great reviews!!!

2022-05-31We were having a family day out for Memorial Day, when we came out to our car after getting lunch and the tire on our car was flat. We were about 40 miles from home and just happened to call Byers to come change our tire. Zach arrived to our location in less than the time that we were told it would be. Zach was professional and competent and really did a quick, thorough job!! We even made it to our movie on time. Thanks so much Zach! Our day really could have been ruined but you will never know how much your promptness meant to us.

2022-05-26Yesterday May 25th I was driving on Dixie Highway while it was raining, and was being tailgated but one of Byers trucks. I flashed him my tail lights to inform him that he was following too close; The driver proceeded to try to whip around me almost hitting the back end of my car. When he realized there was no room to pass me, he threw me a couple of middle fingers, then whipped back behind me almost hitting the back end of my car a second time.A little farther down the road he cut me off just barely missing hitting the front end of my car.I drove to Byers location off E Holly Rd in the hopes of informing their dispatch of the reckless driving of their employee. The dispatch man just shrugged me off, giving me “I’ll let someone know” line. Then the driver that was involved in the incident walked in screaming slurs at me and proceeded to make threats.A second driver came to diffuse the situation and I was told to leave or police would be called. When I called the main office they knew exactly which driver I was referring to. I requested a call from the supervisor to discuss the incident, but I was never contacted. The situation was not only unprofessional, but it was unsafe. If you’re ever in a tow situation I would avoid Byers; they clearly aren’t vetting their employees well

2022-07-12Car was in an accident and police said car has to be moved from the road. Informed AAA will tow it out and officer started that if they cannot come within 5 minutes, car will be impounded. So, car ended up in Byers. They came after midnight to the spot. I picked the car up the same evening 5 minutes away from the incident spot. Bill was almost $400 and I was charged for 2 days. They charged twice to tow the car, one from the incident and one to bring it out from their lot. My tire guy could have got it out from the lot, but they wouldnt allow anyone into the lot. And there was a gate charge for opening the gate to the lot, which was charged twice. Such a rip off.

2022-06-12I was going to have Byers to tow my car to the repair shop but to tow it less than 1.5 miles they wanted $91.00. What a rip off. I hope that I never have to use them, or Ill try to find a cheaper towing company.

2020-12-18We were up in Flint Michigan picking up a load with our box truck and enclosed trailer. Something happened with the front axle spindle assembly, and our truck was no longer drive-able. Unfortunately, none of the shops in the area could repair the truck for us, and we ultimately had no choice but to have it towed all the way back to Indiana, which was 3 hours away from where we were. We called around to a few places, and nobody was willing to tow us. Finally we reached out to Byers down in Rochester. They agreed to do the tow for us all the way back to Indiana. Due to the height of the box truck, this was a unique situation, but they came through for us. The main man Bill Byers came out and made this happen! Very down to earth guy. If were ever in another sticky situation up in the greater Detroit area and need help, I wouldnt hesitate to use them again in a heartbeat. The price they charged us was very reasonable as well. Highly recommended!

2022-02-05If you need a tow call someone else. I called for a tow. Phone operator said a driver would be there within an hour. No show. No call. Unreliable. This is not the first or second unsatisfied experience with this company.
