A part I needed for my central air unit was listed as pick up today and the store didnt have it. The two individuals working didnt really help at all besides looking on one shelf and seemed clueless. I ended up going to Ace Hardware in Hastings and found the part and they took the listing down for in store pickup right away. I looked today and this location still has the part listed for in store pickup even though the person working said they didnt have it and looked on the computer.
Super nice people and helpful too! The employee working in fasteners was attentive, knowledgeable and quite a problem-solver it turns out!I dont go to many hardware stores and dont really know about all the stuff they carry; it just isnt my thing. I went in there with a problem and left with a solution, an inexpensive one at that, in a short amount of time. The person at the register was friendly and professional. I used a credit card and went along my merry way. Also, theres a fantastic ice cream place directly across the street that is opening for the season! Just a fun little bonus!
Decided today that I’m taking a break from shopping here until the pandemic is over. They don’t enforce the mask mandate despite what is posted on their door. Supported them for years even with the higher prices because I believe in shopping local and doing my part in caring for local business but when they can’t do their part to care for the common good of everyone in their community by enforcing common sense best practices during a global pandemic then I guess I’ll have to shop somewhere that does. There is typically 2-5 people in this small store without masks and nothings is ever said.
Wow, came in here and was disappointed. Im new to the area and really want to shop the local hardware store. The manager was more concerned with what was happening on his phone than helping me get a new light switch. Spent 10 minutes trying to figure out which switch was best for my new LED can lights. I was also looking for some screws to repair my deck, and I will say they have a huge selection, but no one could be bothered to help me out, even after asking one of the girls working; she just pointed and said it would be down there. Ouch.
They do not enforce the mask mandate. I saw 2 people out of 6 in the store without masks and the staff said nothing to them. 2 employees improperly wearing masks which were not over their noses. Be professional, demand excellence and protect those with underlying conditions. Thats why you get 2 out of 5.
Prices are ridiculously high, selection of tools is almost entirely limited to Chinese Craftsman tools which are now less reliable than tools at home improvement stores nearby for one quarter of the price. One bolt here costs more than 25 of the same at Menards just five minutes North.
So so pleased service and “can do” attitude. I went to Ace Hardware down street from our house. My husband has be shopping over 30 years. Was told to come on Thursday before 8pm to have a coded keys cut for car. When I got there at 530 the man told be they were understaffed and couldn’t do it. There was me and 2 other customers and 6 employees in store.I called and got Luke at the Bryon Center store. He told me he had cut keys but hadn’t didn’t the coded key. But would do his best.I drove out to 84th street where there were 4 cars already there. And when I walked in there were only two workers.A much busier store. And they were still taking time to help me. Luke even called the store manager on FaceTime to have him walk them through. The process when out at my car took 3 minutes may be 5 max.So please with the service. I don’t mind driving out to 84th street from 44th street to get that service again. So disappointed in the 44th street location and how there “expert” key cutter treated me.
Ace workwe tried to talk me out of buying ace fertilizer, saying it was poorly constructed compared to name brand varieties and isnt worth the savings. I still got it, and it worked great. Went up to the single cashier and she was no where to be found. Guy that helped me yelled for the girl to come to the front, and then scolded her about leaving the cashier station in front of me and other patrons. 2/5 stars.

2022-04-15Like all Ace Harware stores. They really are the happy hardware folks. I had a tool that needed to be fixed on the fly. My associate and I were able to fix up something in the back, and it really saved the day. This is something that couldnt have been done at a big box store. Highly recommend.

2022-03-25I was doing a repair at a local business and needed a plumbing part. I typically dont use this store, but was treated just as if it were my local Ace in Caledonia. I walked in, was asked if I needed help, and was led right to the aisle I needed. I was in and out in minutes.

2019-02-17Maybe its just me, but I recently learned they are open on Sunday (11am-4pm). This is very helpful as the next closest place is just over 10 minutes away. Always friendly staff and good selection to find those items that break around the house and need replacing ASAP.
