Comment: Such a relaxing place. If you have never camped before and would like to try it for the first time, I recommend this place. It has flushable toilets, shower and water to wash. I think could make it easier for a first timer. It has a beautiful lake, but swimming isnt allowed. But boating is very fun and worth every penny. There are lots of birds. The sunset and sunrise are breathtaking. I could go on and on. People are kind and respectful of one another. Theres help when needed.

Comment: Overall a nice place with great weather.Pros: Lovely nature center with a bat program at dusk and a great camp store, plus disc golf course. Bathrooms were ok, $1 for a warm 3 minute shower but nowhere to get dressed or leave clothes.Cons: No enforcement of quiet hours with neighbors blasting music into the morning. Also, only one vehicle is included with each site- there is a $15 charge per day for an additional vehicle.

Comment: Positive: the lake and surrounding area are so beautiful - campsite has great amenities with a store, ample bathrooms, gas etc. the campsites were a great size and really easy to navigate.lots of families and dogs here. i came with my dog and a friend and realized its probably not a good fit for me.its definitely on the louder side as far as camping goes and there are kids running and biking around everywhere which on one hand ...duh but on the other hand if youre looking for a peaceful experience this is not it. very loud up until about an hour after quiet hour. a lot of people kept lights on all night also.the other negative is that the ground is covered entirely with foxtails so if you are bringing a dog i would bring booties and lots of blankets/rugs to lay out since its not good terrain for them. the ground is also infested with baby and adult earwigs.

Comment: Always a good location so close to Santa Barbara area. Some camping groups can be sometimes not the most considerate of those nearby. Luck of the draw. Always try to get a Lake view spot.Some areas need to be cleared out of brush, etc.Fishing is always fun and exciting.Store is convenient and not overpriced.Overall, a clean, fun time each trip!

Comment: Very disappointed with Santa Barbara county. Had a very difficult time canceling my reservation. I tried within the 72 hrs time to get a refund. They don’t let you cancel online like Jalama. There phone hours at 9-3 and sit on hold for hours. It took me 3 days to get through on Monday after sitting on phone for 90 minutes. The nice woman on phone canceled for me but couldn’t refund me regardless that I filled form out prior and told me to fill out another form for cancellation and have not heard anything from the county. I have been traveling for 10 months and never experienced this. Even the rangers at the lake could not do anything for me. The county needs to look at restructuring their system.

Comment: 3/19/24After a year of recovery, Lake Cachuma has spent a ton of money to recover the docks and boats. I am very impressed with the effort on both the Marina and Cachuma staff. I am sure the lake will get back to a normal operation sometime this year. I fish weekly and will say I am very happy to be apart of the community. They have come a very long way from a very disastrous event that filled the lake in a 24 hour period, with 38,600cfps into the lake with major damage. The river into the lake rose 14ft or more, taking out trees and nearly the Ranger Station at Paradise Rd.Please visit this very beautiful lake and understand my review from the past as Cachumas response from a Negative to a Positive.2023 - The people in charge of the boat rentals did not prepare before or after the major storm. Letting their boats fall apart. Furthermore, keeping half their fleet in the water. There are so many boats in various areas of the lake shore in disarray from storm water.No boats were allowed to be rented this week-weekend.Now the reason for the 1-Star - Only for the boat issue! Cachuma Lake is a scenic place to camp if you can tolerate the miday wind. Fishing is still good, I caught a bass and released it, saw others catch 2.8 lb trout.At least 4 in 5 hours.Whoever is in charge of the boats better get them ALL in the water before the Apr 15th Trout Derby, or youre gonna have a very poor turnout.RVs stay off the grass! I had to help a 5th wheel that sunk up to the corner of the left rear frame 30 degrees tilt.

Comment: Personally, I don’t camp but I took the opportunity to glamp at Cachuma Lake Campground since they have cabins. I have nothing but great things to say! It’s a beautiful setting, great campground, clean cabin, easy to book, great location. Recommend for anyone looking to tent camp, RV camp, or book a cabin like we did. The general store had cute souvenirs, lots of snacks, and all essentials you would need. There is a disc golf course, a play area for little ones, dock fishing, or boat rentals for fishing. Lots of fun and a relaxing place to get away.

A/C works well on the cold days to make the trip comfortable and perfect.No pillows and blankets, please bring your own.120v and 240v plugs outside, EV owner remember to bring your car cable to save some money and charge time.Great place for weekend!

Comment: My wife and I stayed at site 126 over the end of Labor Day weekend. 9/3/23 - 9/6/23We enjoyed ourselves. Our site was nice as was the little section we were in. 125 through 130.Due to the holiday crowd, Trash containers were overflowing. There was lots of trash everywhere in the campground left over from lazy campers. Sad how some people treat our campgrounds... Restrooms didnt look as though they had been cleaned until Tuesday after the holiday.All in all we will return for camping trips in the future. We might avoid holiday weekends.

Comment: First time at this campground. Overall OK, except the weeds were very high in the RV camping areas. Also when we arrived the spot was riddled with Bottle Caps, Straws, small trash debris. We took out our tools and chopped down some weeds in between our sites to prevent the bees from gathering. Just wanted to state that area in between the sites was not cleaned well. We cleaned it before we set up camp, cause we did not want any of our grandkids getting hurt, if they should be barefoot or fall and land on anything. My daughters site across the street had no one behind them, but massive dead weed growth. i would of thought it would of been cut down to be better managed. Overall OK.

Comment: Mosquitoes and bugs everywhere, not only outside but inside restrooms and shower areas. I even talk to one camper who rented a yurt and he said it’s not worth the money to rent one because there are bugs and mosquitoes inside. I had high expectations here but my first time will be my last, I guess. I’m really not happy going home with multiple mosquito bites on my arms and legs. One week after and they are still very itchy. Btw, we also found a snake in our campsite.

The other two yurks on my side had a dog barking and baby crying all night so i had a bad night. The staff were not even willing to swap inspite of having many open campsites. I would recommend checking for some nice campsite in wilderness than sleeping beside a highway.

Comment: We recently decided to go camping here and since weve never been camping before we went somewhere local. We arrived on Monday at 6PM at the gate and were greeted by sign that said to go on ahead to pull through if there was no attendant. Our buddy who has been camping plenty of times say they usually come around the next day to check us in if there was no attendant. The camp sites are spacious and with firepits. Very beautiful. Bathrooms are clean. Boat rental / tackle attendants are informative and very kind. The reason im leaving a 2 star is due to a absolutely rude attendant at the front gate when we were leaving. Continued to harass us about a receipt. So you guys decided to stay here for 2 days! and never came in to check in?! I couldnt see any sign or anything to come back and check in the next day. The rude attendant said we were already checked in and attempted to charge me $60 for an extra car charge when we only had the limit of 2 cars on 1 lot for 2 nights. After he finally understood that i only had 1 extra car, he charged us the $30 for the extra car. Absolutely horrible attitude that left a very bad taste in our mouths. There needs to be more information about checking in on the reservation email AND upon arriving.To the older gentleman with a beard and glasses, thank you for ruining our first camping experience for us and our kids.

The campsites will be shut down in early September for renovations and wont reopen until early summer 2024.Try and get in there this summer if you can. Comment: An amazing spot for yurt camping. Allow yourself a 6-month lead time to make yurt reservations but once you’re there, it’s worth it. Our favorite pastime while at the lake is walking around with our Husky dog and just relaxing in nature. Our yurt is right on the lake so sunsets are fab. On the other side are the yurts that get a rad sunset. The Hook’d restaurant on the property has a small menu fit good eats, especially the tri-tip and burgers.The only real negative for us is the amount of oxtails around the property which is a danger for our Husky but we manage.I almost don’t want to write this review for fear of making this destination too appealing which will mean crowds. But the park staff and all the others who manage the property deserves to know how special this place is, due in part to their dedication.

Comment: This campground is amazing. We got there friday and stayed the whole weekend till today (Sunday). The scenery is beautiful, the SoCal backcountry with the santa ynez valley and rolling hills. All of it is visible from the campground. Luckily I stopped by to camp when the lake was at... 101%!!! 🤯 Normally the water is 60 or 70 feet down, but this time it was right up to the campsites and the Hookd restaurant. It sells fishing equipment and American food like burgers and fries. Their cachuma burger is very good.Important things:1. Bathrooms pretty clean2. Lots of shade on most sites3. Flat land with little undergrowth4. Group sites for family campingThis is the end of the review, but I just have onerecommendation if you want it.The 2 best places for sunset pictures:1. At the very end of the peninsula the park sits on, then (if you are looking north) look left. There is a clearing with good side room for pictures, and it doesnt get packed.2. Near the opening of the park, facing the same way as #1, an outcropping with a bridge leading to it where NOBODY goes.

Comment: Not what it used to be. The lake is more gorgeous than ever, and the camp store and restaurant are good, but the campground is badly managed. The restrooms arent cleaned on a daily basis and end up clogged and trashed . Theres no enforcement of the quiet hours and people play music and party all night. No longer a restful place to stay, especially if youre in a tent or soft-sided camper. Its a shame.

Comment: I Dont know if I’m just being sensitive or onion skinned. But we’ve been to this campground multiple times ( 2 tent and 1 rv full hook ups ). And love the place, highly recommend, but why 1 -star, well I’ve called today 4/5/23 a little after 4pm. A guy answered claimed he’s a park ranger ( can’t remember the name ) I was asking nicely a little bit more detail about a site if it’s a full hook up or partial. He sarcastically answered what does the website say ? If it says that then it is. I know it sounds petty, but our actual conversation was quite annoying and I’m sure anyone will react the same. It took me 4x to ask his name before he told me and I Dont think he was telling me his real name anyways. ( I was so upset I forgot to write it down ). I would just hope if he doesn’t know a lot about the place then just say so, Dont be rude about it. Despite the rudeness of the person I talk to I will still keep going back to this place, very nice location. Few minutes away from downtown Solvang

Comment: Besides the lake drying out (which is bad enough I have to say) this place now has a huge problem with flys! Millions of them non stop all day, it is miserable !! I hope the management company in charge of the premises will do some investigating and resource to the state parks department to resolve this problem.

Comment: The lake level is SUPER low and there are so many flies during daylight hours that I almost lost it. At night, the raccoons are out of control... Dont leave food out ANYWHERE! If you like to play disc golf, then youre in luck as the course is right there. Overall, campground gets two stars, disc golf course gets four.PS-. Used to live in the area... Rt 154 is one of the most dangerous roads youre likely to find anywhere. Drive with caution.

Comment: A very quiet and comfortable RV camping experience at Cachuma Lake. Easy hookups and was our base camp for visiting Santa Ynez, Solvang and Los Olivos!! Large camp are for walks or runs! Nice dock side restaurant and bar. We will be back.

Comment: A very large campground, . nice picnic area, really got so see and watch lots of animals examples Turkeys,wild rabbits, owls, raccoons,squirrels, hawks and many more, they have live music on Saturday, restroom were clean, the weekend was not long enough to see everything, I really liked it, planning to go again soon .

Comment: Climate change has altereded the landscape of this place so much that the camping site is scorching hot (in July) with very few shady trees to provide shade for campers. We used the Google Map satellite image feature to reserve a camp site with a big shady tree. The bathrooms and shower stalls were minimally maintained but fairly clean. For the showers, its one quarter per minute.The lake has become shallower due to many years of drought. Not many activities at the lake since the weather is so hot and dry.We do appreciate the opportunity for kids and adults to swim in their swimming pool during the hot afternoons.

Liked having Camp store with a small variety of goods, but seems to be the right types of products for campers. Noticed they had marshmallows and chocolate for smores of course 😋. For dry camping only $25/night.

Comment: We didnt have a great experience here and I would not visit again. The campground is pretty rundown and not very nice to look at. Its way overpriced for what it is. At 5 or 6 am, we were woken up by someone yelling into a megaphone from a boat on the lake (not sure what they were doing, but it was loud) and prior to that we were woken up in the middle of the night by some turkeys who were surrounding our tent and causing a ruckus. In the morning we saw several more turkeys in the campground. We were camping in a tent and almost everyone else we saw was in an RV so if youll be in a tent you might feel a little out of place here. The lake is pretty but you cant swim in it. The bathrooms do have showers which is nice but they were not the cleanest. Overall, this just isnt a very nice campground and I would find something better if you can.

Comment: One of worst camping experiences weve ever had. Sewage was backed up at our site. We spent hours trying to fix, then the gate staff attempted to fix. We were offered another site, but after dealing with a sewage back up all afternoon, we were tired of the whole situation (and disgusted) and wanted to go home. The site next to us didnt have any power. The staff was kind, the 1 star is for him, and understood our frustration and told us we could get a refund. We sent in the request paperwork and got denied by park and rec management. Todd, the manager was argumentative, turned it into a he said she said and refused to provide us any sort of refund. Terrible handling, terrible customer service, disappointing this is government workers at their finest. We will never stay here and dont recommend it. There are plenty of other wonderful, beautiful state campgrounds out there folks! This isnt the one to waste time at.

Comment: Beautiful scenery. A bit run down, but the views make up for it! Absolutely worth an overnight. The greenery and lakeside camping make you feel like you’re somewhere other than California. Some spots are definitely more private than others, so it’s worth checking a site map before booking! 395 looks sweet!

Comment: To me it was awesome its close to los angeles, because I like to go camping to national parks and that usually requires a minimum 7 hour drive, it was quiet except for one night that people next to our site had a generator running but the rangers came and told them to shut it off because it was quite hours and bathrooms are clean
