Comment: Just went to camp at Cachuma for a two day stay. I must say I was disappointed. The whole site looks run down. The landscaping needs tending two. Makes the whole place look kinda crappy, bunch of dried up grass and weeds everywhere. I know we had lots of rainfall so I understand, but they need to keep up with the maintenance. Its such a beautiful location. Also not all sites have shade, we had straight sun and then the winds kicked in. We just had to go inside and shut down our camp fire. I didnt want to be liable for starting a massive fire. The lake itself is beautiful and the water looks so clean, as it should. I highly recommend doing the guided boat tour with a naturalist. That was fun and fairly priced. Other than that I wouldnt go back. I was not impressed.

Comment: Camped at site 480 Memorial day weekend 2024 and its a very nice spot except when the wind picks up. Also because there is no fencing around the campsite and signage directing guests to the lake side we had multiple occasions where day use guests would nonchalantly and inconsiderately walk through our site to enjoy the view of our premium site. Very stressful to act as crowd control. I emailed SB County Parks for a refund. I will update my review once I receive a response

Comment: Unexpected but pleasant stop. We were on the way home and took the 154 instead of the 101 and decided to stop by Cachuma Lake. Roads are a bit worn out but lake was full due to all the 2024 rain. Good to see it and first time here and has both tent and RV camping. We are definitely coming back for camping and some boating activities.

Comment: Great place for camping. Weve been going there for 29 years! They have yurts and cabins, too. Very clean and spacious. We have a motorhome we enjoy taking. Their full hook up area is under renovation. Im looking forward to going back. You can fish and use a boat in the lake but no swimming. Their nature center is very spacious and educational. Great place for the kids. I also have a snack bar. Check for live music. Highly recommend this place.

Comment: OK, it is getting better here at Lake Cachuma, we were shocked to see fewer people camping over the weekend. It was nice and quiet. Campers are being respectful. We stayed in a cabin, and it seems the same issues in the cabins are still happening, light bulbs out, hot plate still takes forever, forget the TV- unless you have a strong Hotspot you may get Prime or Netflix but the TV has issues and resets network. So, forget the TV, enjoy nature.Across the camp site, there were campers watching the Little Mermaid on a big screen.Fun for the kids! Great job, campers.

Comment: Great place to do camping year around. The Yurts are aging and it shows. Some of the roll up windows cannot be put in place as they do not have the strings attached anymore. However, what a place! Great view and great people. There are plenty of rest areas in the campground - both temporary and structured. There is a store with most supplies and also a small cafe for eating, but why buy when you can bbq? I had no luck with fishing from the shore - tried for almost 3 h, no bites. Most likely youll be lucky if you take a boat and go towards the middle.

Comment: Not at all what we expected. You cant go swimming in the lake. Its dry as hell. There is a market and items are priced at 100%. $27 for a 12 pack of beer. I would compare camping here to camping at park in the valley. The only nice things were the night sky and the moon setting on the lake. I would not recommend camping here unless you have no business doing actual real camping. Good for families with small children who arent actually trying to camp.

Comment: Perfect cool breeze! I wonder what it is like in July! This is a huge campground, but each camp has a lot of space. I had a whole area to myself midweek. The staff is excellent - friendly and courteous. I cant to come back - it is a great place to set up camp and then explore the coast (30 mins away), or the incredibly quaint towns of Solvang and Los Olivos, or hike some of the local trails.

Comment: The lake above Santa Barbara. At the time of our stay the lake was full. Two years ago, that was not the case. We had a bit of wind during our stay. But when you are in a trailer, not so bad. We will be back and hopefully it will not be as windy. Only 40 mins to Santa Barbara, and 20 mins to Solvang. So you can get the most out of your stay.

Comment: We stayed in our trailer in the full hookup area. It was great! Everything worked and was clean and accessible. Here are my 2 main reasons for taking off a star... We have a mid-sized trailer, and our truck didnt really fit in our spot with the trailer. Because our trailer is on the smaller side, we dont use the shower in it. The campground bathrooms arent great. Theyre ok. No mirrors or way to dry your hands. But the worst part was 4 quarters for 3 minutes of water in the shower. As a woman with hair to wash and condition, underboob to wash and really rinse to avoid rash, and pits to shave, this is unrealistic. It feels like a pink tax. My dad was barely able to shower in one round, and he normally showers quickly, uses literally one product, and has little hair. I get the goal of conserving water and keeping the showers rotating, but the allotment should be at least 5-6 min or half the cost. And some of the bathrooms are better than others. Oddly enough, the shower area was better by the full trailer hookups than the tents. There were benches in the stalls that you can put your stuff on in the bathroom by the trailers. I only went into the two bathrooms, so maybe other bathrooms are better.Other than my bathroom/shower complaints, this campground was great! Its a great location in between Santa Barbara and Solvang. We went right after a bunch of rain, so the lake was full and everything was so green and pretty. All campsites have a picnic table, and the tent sites all had a fire pit. I had cell reception. The campground has nice picnic areas for day use with tables, grills, corn hole and horseshoes. Theres also a very nice disc golf course, a pool, a store, a gas station, a bar & grill, and a marina. They offer a variety of camping options, from tent sites, full hookups, electricity & water only, camping cabins, and yurts. They also have huge spaces for groups. Id definitely go back.

Comment: We were there Dec 12 - 14 (Mon-Wed). It was so quiet. Only about 3 of the basic campsites looked to be in use with tents. The rest were RVs or trailers in the RV area. The Water level is pretty decent. If you go make sure you stop at the hookd restaurant by the boat dock. Food is great and the people that work there are awesome. If you like spicy and you like bloody Marys then ask for a bloody Mary with their dried pepper infused vodka. If you like it really spicy then tell them you want all infused instead of the half n half. Its no joke but its damn good. There wasnt one negative thing in the 3 days that We were there.... When We can get away again, We will be back

Comment: We have been here several times and usually love it, but now it’s at the height of the drought. The lake is eerily empty so even our ‘lake view’ RV spot had no lake view! All the grassy areas have sadly turned to dust. The live band was kinda rough😏. The bar is such a beautiful spot to sit outside and enjoy the view, but the beers were $10! The little general store is wonderful. Lots of frisbee golfers…so a good place to go if you’re into that (and the store carries frisbees)!

Comment: We love camping at Cachuma. Weve been going there for years. At some point they changed check-in to 3pm, during the heat of the day, 3 hours after check-out. I could understand if they actually cleaned each site after the visitors left, but thats not the case. When we arrived there was trash in the fire pit, and during the 5 days we were there, not once did we see any of the camp hosts prep the sites for the new guests as they do at many other places.Although Ive never known them to clean the sites over the 20 years or so weve been camping there, whats the point of the 3pm check-in?Also, the camp host site behind the general store looked like a combination of a wrecking yard and homeless camp. Come on guys...Thats why the 3 star rating.

Comment: Very poor value for money at this campground. It is not well maintained, trash is everywhere and there is a serious problem with flies (that bite). A lot of noise during the night from people who busted in and started playing music and yelling until early hours, as well as a weird tendency for passing traffic to wail on their horns the entire stretch past the camp.

All dirt camping sites with minimal restroom availability and activities for kids. Pool is always closed and activities are minimal. The slab was so broken up I had to level off with planks. The pools were filled with dirt. Too bad the county has decided to let this place go. It was and could be so much more than it is. Comment: This is a great place to camp with your family during the week and in California where you have to make reservations 6-12 months in advance for any camp site. The reason we gave it 3 stars:#1 Ground hogs! Everywhere and super dangerous for kids playing and walking.#2 Earwigs infestations EVERYWHERE. Seriously we are still killing them as they fall out our camping gear.#3 DO NOT CAMP HERE ON THE WEEKENDS. The signs all say quiet after 2200, that time came and went and everyone was loud into the night. Not good for kids trying to sleep. The reasons we liked it:#1 hot cheap showers. $2 for a 6 min shower is more than enough time.#2 during the week, no one is here and it is quite relaxing.#3 very kind rangers! They would drive by and wave and ask how we were during the week. One even dropped off a few pieces of timber for the fire! How kind.#4 great shade trees to get out of the afternoon heat#5 nice parks for kids to play on when they are antsy to play

Comment: If you approach the campground from the south (Santa Barbara), just be aware that most of that stretch is a windy climb up into the hills, so it’s perhaps not the best route if your RV or tow vehicle struggles with inclines. The park has several camping areas. We stayed in the first section, which is the first left turn after the check-in kiosk. This section has wide paved roads with concrete back-in sites with full hook-ups. Our pad was cracked and a bit warped in some places, but we had no problem leveling (and the patio area of the concrete with the picnic table was in good shape). Some sites had shade-producing trees; others did not. The sites in this section are fairly close together. There is another large section of back-in sites on the opposite side of the main road with gravel pads: four of those sites have full-hookups, while the rest of them just have water and electric. The rest of the camping areas are labeled as tent sites with no hookups, but I did see a number of RVs parked in some of those sites, which do have the advantage of being more spread out. Each camping section/loop has at least one dumpster and one bathhouse with bathrooms and showers. I did check out the shower stalls before we left: looks like the ones in our bathhouse were coin-operated. Our section also had a recycling dumpster. There are also a number of cabins available, as well as some large yurts with patio decks overlooking the lake. There are a ton of amenities at this campground. There is a large camp store with convenience store items and souvenirs that doubles as a gas station (no diesel, though) and provides propane refills. Just down the road from the store is a parking area with three or four dump stations. There is a pair of fenced-in dog areas next to the laundry facilities and two swimming pools (which were closed during our visit). There are two playground areas, one public cornhole setup, an outdoor theatre that seats at least 100 (probably for showing movies), and a large disc golf course that winds through the campground. There is also a clubhouse and a small nature center next to the full hook-up section of sites, and a restaurant with outdoor seating next to the main boat launch.Except for the occasional road noise from route 145, the campground feels remote. Early mornings are quiet except for the occasional gobbles of the wild turkeys that roam the campground during the day. There is an abundance of moles and pocket squirrels, so much so that there are holes in the ground everywhere and enclosed rodent poison traps located around the park. You may also see an occasional snake. There are a few short hiking trails around the edges of the campground, and access to one long trail (the Sweetwater Trail) that exits the campground and leads to the nearby dam. There are street lights in the full hook-up section, but they are capped to only shine downward, so on a clear moonless night you can look up and see a lot of stars. In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna during our stay was about 50Mbps down and 20Mbps up, so I had no trouble working or streaming video. The best speed I got with my AT&T phone showed 9.5Mbps down and 5.5 up.We would definitely stay here again.

Comment: We love this place. Close enough to home to make it a weekend getaway. Enough to do to make a longer stay enjoyable. The campground is pretty, and well maintained Fishing and kayaking in the lake, and a few trails for hikes, at the campground. Wineries, Santa Ynez Recreation Area, Solvang, are just a few things to see nearby.

Comment: This is a great place to spend a few hours or an entire week. Fishing, camping, hiking and biking. There is a nice restaurant and bar at the marina. Great food, good service and incredibly clean. The lake is clear and blue and the sounds by the water are so relaxing. A great place to chill, meditate or enjoy a good book. I wish we had enough time to rent a boat and do some fishing. The park has fishing cleaning stations, as well. Well be back...

Looked like many were still taking advantage of the nice weather and hitting the lake with boats and rentals to strool and go fishing. On my second trip here within a month, went hiking and caught a nice sunset. If helpful, like it below.

Comment: This is one of the best RV parks and lakes! It has all hookups needed, water, power, sewer, and very good cell reception. The park is very well maintained with restrooms, showers, good food service, and large open areas for more remote RV dry camping closer to the lake with great views, good group areas and a very good group event center. It has recreational boats for the lake and fishing supplies. It is peaceful, quiet, and just beautiful with lots of big oak shade trees. We will go there a lot!

Comment: Ended up here for more nights than I plan, and really enjoyed my 6 nights camping(4 nights, then back for 2 more nights). Huge place, and seems like a great place for frisbee golf, tons of people playing. And there is a BAR! Yes, there is a bar in the park, Hookd, right by the boat launch, on the water. They have a very limited menu, but a bunch of great IPAs, yummy stuff. Plus, Dustin et al. will treat you great, wonderful people, wonderful place. Thanks Dustin, very much enjoyed hanging out. Good luck with everything. Chachuma Lake, check it out, worth a visit for sure. And if do go, please say hey to Dustin for me, not sure when Ill get back this way.

Comment: Super relaxing, out in the semi wild. All the basic amenities available; restrooms, a well stocked general store, showers (bring quarters, $1 every 3 mins) and a lake surrounding you.On top of that a restaurant, boating dock, a tackle shop and a gas station. A community movie theater. If you have an RV, Cachuma Lake has you covered too.

Comment: Lots of broken beer bottle glass around our fire ring. On the last day I found more broken glass in the dirt nearby our tent. The process of getting a kayak or boat into the lake is a pain.Got woke up early on Saturday morning at 5am by a lot of vehicle traffic inside the park. it seemed odd and set off my spidery senses so I got up to investigate. it was just a lot of people on Saturday morning getting up at 5am and getting ready for work or something. So it appears the camp has a lot of long term RV people living here.Im glad we came and experienced the park but it reminds me why I dislike camping at places like this and how I prefer disbursed camping away from crowds much better.

Comment: Unless you have a boat or are willing to rent one... fishing is a bit tough! If youre not in it for the fishing though its a great place to stay! The camp sites are huge! ...obviously sized for a good sized motor home with a boat or other towed vehicle. The campground store is very nice for camping items, they just dont stock a lot of cold meds and such, so come prepared or you will have to drive to a store outside the park.Overall its a very nice place to camp! Comment: I havent written a review for quite a while....my bad. However, I am still fuming about treatment that my wife and I were subjected to in June.Absolutely WORST camping experience due to unfair and unwelcoming treatment by nearby campers and the Head Park Ranger at Cachuma. We had a nice first night camping, and even waved a greeting to the park ranger who was making the rounds. One the second day, we were greeted with hostility by new neighboring campers on both sides of us (they were all part of a large group with multiple tents). They approached us when we returned to camp late in the afternoon, and DEMANDED that we move our tent! Apparently, they did not want us, an elderly Asian couple, camping so close to them.We called the rangers who arrived and they, surprisingly, also told us to move! The rangers LIED to us by claiming that we were not on our own campsite, and they definitely showed favoritism to the other, larger group of hostile campers.Park Map and even the Official Internet Website photo of our campsite confirmed that we camped directly in the middle of our site, despite Park Ranger lies.We were already there, so the right thing for the ranger to do would have been to stand up to the larger group of angry campers, and tell them to move their tents and leave us alone! It was clear we received unequal treatment, which is called discrimination. . I guess no one was welcoming of a senior, Asian, temporarily disabled couple (it would have been very difficult to move our tent, given my foot injuries)…or we were an easy target, compared to the Rangers having the guts to stand up to the larger group and asking them all to move and stop demanding that we move.Needless to say, with all of this hostility, we chose to leave our vacation early. We complained to the County of Santa Barbara about this discrimination, but never received a written apology. Was this anti-Asian Hate? It sure felt like it to me.

Comment: Full hookups are available. I stayed in both 12 and 14. They have 30a and 20a. But the 30a trips at around 15 to 20a and needs a visit from an electrician on space #14. #12 works well. Be sure to enjoy the burger and brownie ice cream at the Hook restaurant - really good. They also have a camp store, lake cruises, swimming pool and movie nights. I missed the star gazing event, but Im sure it would have been fun. I think they also rent boats, sell fishing licenses and the lake is well stocked. I spent 5 days here and loved it. Park staff super helpful. Enjoy!

Comment: Lake Cachuma is a great place to boat for those who dont want to be on the ocean (like families with kids). Its a large enough body of water that it takes about 2 hours to explore by rental boat, and its very empty. Some of the shoreline is quite beautiful--oak trees and golden grass abound. In other areas which are more recently exposed, the ground is a bit muddy and ugly, with no trees. I did see some deer here, however. There are also plenty of birds to spot. You cant swim in this lake, as it is drinking water. The campgrounds are a great spot for a picnic. My favorite thing to do here is just turn off the boat engines and listen to nature...

We were so bummed that we could not swim in the lake- we brought our paddle boards and the kids were looking forward to swimming. Comment: Love this place for camping. Sites are not right on top of each other. Activities opening back up, recently. It does get hot, and some areas are lacking any type of shade. And they have RV hookups (partial and full). Some roads (dirt and paved) could use some better maintenance. Pets are allowed, and noise restrictions in place after a certain hour. So awesome, and yet so close!! And the rates are significantly lower than surrounding camping areas.

Comment: Before June is the best time to stay there. The foxtails & other weeds haven’t dried out too much for dogs to get in their fur. There’s also a lot of gophers in the area. The RV sites are limited to 30A so you have to watch power management. Most sites don’t have a full concrete pad. Bring blocks to support your jacks. The lake is close with ramps to launch boats. There’s a parking lot for overflow parking or to park your boat. The general store has your basic items and is reasonably priced. The gas / propane is also reasonably priced. They have regular & premium fuel. We’ll stay here again

We stayed in spot #3 in our RV. From what I could see, no RV spots in that area had a BBQ so bring a portable one. The hook ups were perfect to back in. We brought our dogs and learned we can rent a boat and take them on it which is awesome! Boat rental is first come first serve but we were told during the week its pretty slow. My t mobile signal was really strong and the site was very clean. The ranger circles the place frequently and was nice to answer any questions we had. Definitely coming back.

There are not many RV sites available and looking at the map Rt 154 always looked a bit curvy but we took a chance. And were well rewarded. Good biking area for kids people drive slow on the roadways. Boat and kayak rental people are helpful and cool. Everyone seems pretty respectful about wearing mask when around others and the rv areas are spaced out enough where you can hang with your family outside around the rv and not have to worry about wearing a mask. Hook ups are in great locations. Cant swim in the lake as it is really a reservoir, but it actually works well during social distancing. Rangers were super cool and focus making sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves while keeping is safe. Will be back soon. Hope this review doesnt attract people and i will be able to get a spot!

Comment: We arranged for a site from Sunday to Friday morning. Our neighbors were less than savory our first two nights, and a Ranger named Casey came to check in with us, and to offer a different site to us. They went out of their way, and far above and beyond, by checking reservations for the sites next to us, and helped us get a much better site with more social distance and families as opposed to younger folks, just partying and being up late. At least four rangers assisted us throughout the day, either by phone or in person. It was wonderful to have people who are clearly working so hard already to accommodate so many folks, make a bad day few days much better. Especially when it wasnt their fault for the issues! Weve camped here during my husbands active duty, and attend events here for the Chumash Nation, and weve never had such a pleasant experience, or folks interested in helping us with so much else to concern themselves with. A true pleasure to deal with everyone here for us. We keep coming back.

It was a nice experience and it wasnt as packed as we thought it was going to be. Our spot was nice and spacious and werent on top of our neighbors like other campgrounds. Plus it had plenty of shade. The only thing was the shore fishing sucked (no bites) and the boat rentals were hella pricy.. $$. But all in all a nice campground.

Luckily my son-in-law knows boats and got us to shore before it was all the way under. It was half full of water and he had everyone move to the back of the boat so he could keep the motor in the water and get us to land. All our gear got soaked. They came out to get us with a larger replacement boat even though we didnt ask for bigger but then charged us for the bigger boat and only took off an hour charge after our party of 9 mostly younger boys almost ended up in the middle of the lake after sending out a boat that had known problems.

Comment: One Stop Destination for Recreation!Lovely lakeside camping with all the amenities one would need for fun and comfort! Tent and RV sites, boat and kayak rentals, cafe and bait shop, gas station snd market, showers, laundry...even a dog park! Very friendly and accommodating county employees will bend over backwards for their guests—even day-use visitors are treated with regard. The only drawback is the market’s concessionaire: he’s not a big communicator with the park office and they might not know the markets hours. But I’d still recommend this as a great place.

We used the fire ring and standing BBQ. 4 electrical outlets for the provided heaters and we brought an electric kettle for hot water. Highly recommend the guided nature trail. Comment: Can’t speak for the prices because I don’t know them but the lake is very beautiful, especially in the morning when it’s flat and reflects the sunrise. You can’t swim in it because it’s a drinking water source but you can rent kayaks from the general store in the park and camp fairly close to the lake. They also have disc golf if you’re into that.

Comment: Have been camping and fishing here for a long time . Great little general store, Tackle shop and snack shop . Fair prices. Boat launch and parking . If you want to catch fish from the shoreline you will need to do a little hiking . But once you find your spot the fishing can be very rewarding. A few years back u landed a 7.5 lbs trout the biggest fish I have ever pulled out of a lake .

Comment: We enjoy both spending a single day here as well as tent camping for several nights. Now that we have more water in the lake fishing is easier from the shore and dock areas. Campground and picnic areas are fairly well maintained. Bathrooms are very clean. Showers are clean although i did have one shower that had a major ant infestation. Pool is great during the summer season, its closed during the off season. Cachuma has lots to offer for camping : full hook ups, water and electrical only, tent spaces, yurts, and cabins. A general store, marina with tackle shop, boat rentals and wildlife boat tours. A new restaurant too although we have not yet had a chance to eat there. Gas is available but pricey! Been coming here since the late 1960s and while it has changed a bit it is still a great recreation area for both locals (like me) or travelers alike! Reservations are a good idea during summer and peak holiday periods and weekends year round. Lits of friendly camp hosts and park staff. A good weekend getaway!

Comment: We used to go here for the live oak music festival (in mid-spring). It can be pretty warm here during the summer. I have not been here in the off season. The lake has more water (in 2017) than it did during the drought period. The CA-154 highway can be a bit testy for those not used to winding two-lane mountain roads where the traffic is moving faster than it probably should, so if you are not used to that, do it in the daylight. It is not that far from Santa Barbara, but the direct route is a fairly narrow, twisty set of switchbacks on 154 to get over the high hills of the coast range. The park itself is quite nice, with the public space among some private properties that border the lake and the river.

Comment: This is a beautiful place for camping. There is no swimming in the lake, but there is a pool to use for $3.00 a person. Lots of oak trees to tent camp underneath, but beware if hard rocky ground when trying to put in tent stakes. Neighbors can be noisy and it is supposed to be quiet hours between 10 - 7, but it is not, people party much later than that and arrive late too. 154 is right above you.and can be noisy. The lake is so gorgeous, it doesnt seem like Santa Barbara County, when you look out over the lake and see the mountains. Great nature center and camp store, well stocked if you forgot something. Bring a grate to put over the firepit, as most dont have one.

Comment: Went to Cachuma Lake with six family members. We shared 2 cabins and a tent. The mornings were quite cool and the air crisp. It was a great time for walks by the lake. The afternoons warmed up and while the sun was shining, took advantage of taking some great pics. Cabins were clean with no frills amenities. We were able to start a fire in the pit and grill up fish on the b-b-q. Lots of great memories was had by all.

Comment: Beautiful area, lake is almost full in 2019. Rangers are awesome, the people there a bit rowdy for my taste, the weekend I was there. The campgrounds are very busy on the weekend, LOTS of people. If you like camping in a group setting, where kids everywhere, this place is for you. I was greeted by a drunk guy cussing at me while riding a bike with his kid, also on a bike, as I drove my car on... yes, the road, at about 5 mph to allow for space. Lots of folks drinking, others smoking pot, a bit too much for me personally. Reservations are a must, there was 1 walk up campsite on Friday by the lake and 1 cancellation on Saturday by the highway. I was very lucky to have a place both nights. Be prepared, 500 campsites with 4-6 people average is 2,000 to 3,000 people, explains the madness. Have fun!

Comment: It was really nice. The scenery was nice. I liked the experience. The only thing I didnt like is that the bathroom didnt have toilet seat covers, so there was a lot of toilet paper on the floor from people trying to make some. Comment: Lake was fuller than Ive seen in a long time and fishing was good. The nearby group camp blasted mariachi music for two days. Comment: This is a very beautiful campground overall. However, the hiker biker site is less than ideal. its fairly overgrown, very far away from the showers and bathrooms. And its also very close to the amphitheater and other big RVs. Additionally the road to access this site Is very busy and lacks a shoulder at times. I still think its a better route than taking the one do south. However, it has some cons listed above. Price is more than fair though at $5 a person. Showers were clean and costs four quarters for every 3 minutes. Also this is right next to a lake which breeds mosquitoes. Make sure you have your d deet filled bug spray handy.

Comment: One of my favorite places to camp: its clean, quiet, and lots of activities nearby to entertain yourself for the weekend of the week. Weve camped here (Space 204 is the best, I think - large, fairly hidden, and hit and miss view of the lake), but after staying in the Oak yurt, were spoiled. If its available, well book it. The campground has a general store, lots of bathrooms (real ones an port-a-potties, theres a playground, boat rentals, fire pits, showers, and during summer, there is family entertainment like outdoor movies, live music, and a pool. The yurts come with beds, electricity, heaters/fans, the larger ones have a picnic table and shelves, and all have views of the lake. You can sit outside at the fire pit, eat at the outdoor picnic table, sit and enjoy the lake view or the stars at night. Theres a grill and picnic table outside for you to have meals outside and theres a water faucet for your dish washing needs. Plus you have wine country all around you so whats not to like?

We are next to a HUGE group and I feel like Im back in the city! They never stop talking like 5 talking at a time - in a pull thru spot! Why have numerous vacant tent only camping spots but then allow tent only people in the very few RV spots? They are sooo noisy - may have to go home lol.

Comment: My friends and I come here yearly around winter time, because it tends to be empty. We have tried to come during the summer and it ends up packed, but everyone is nice. A heads up during the winter it does drop to freezing temperatures. The Rangers are friendly and sometimes ask how we are doing. This camp site has plenty of trails, as well as plenty of fishing locations. The lake is beautiful when its filled (lately is has been low, due to the drought). You CANNOT go into the lake, but are allowed to bring a boat or rent one.The site has locations for RVs that tends to be separate from tent locations, but cant really speak about that location as Ive never used that location. There are 2 kinds of fire pits, circle and square. We normally enjoy the circle, enclosed ones. The square ones have one side opened, which we dont enjoy. There is a small market located at the entrance of the park in case you forgot something or need a pack of ice, so thats convenient.

Comment: I made fishing trip to the lake for the first time in nearly five years. I knew that it was still down from the severe drought but I didnt expect what I found. Needless to say, the fishing trip didnt go wellAs for other recreation the facilities are still in place. They have some nice cabins, which I have used on several occasions, and another configuration called hurts, but I didnt participate in that aspect on this trip. Late season campers should find available spaces now that school is back in session. Just check the parks website for info.

Comment: Amazing, big, calm place in the hills above Santa Barbara. Beautiful lake nearby, unfortenately swimming is not allowed. You do have a little swimming pool. Restrooms are simple, but okay. An absolutely stunning sunset at the west side of the area with the sun going down in the lake ends a day at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area.

Comment: The rains brought plenty of water now the lake is a little over 50% capacity. Beautiful to see it with water. Their nature excursions are worth it, they take you around most of the lake and literary give you a different perspective of nature by showcasing many vegetation and wild life. Been coming here for years and now its worth bringing the family for a beautiful time. By the way that camping site is also very nice, people seem to be very nice all the times Ive been here. The bathrooms are clean (no showers) and nights are filled with stars.

Comment: I camped here for 2 weeks with my husband and dog in a 33-foot RV. It got really busy, crowded and loud on weekends but weekdays were nice and peaceful. Shaded site with average amount of space. Very disappointed that there was no laundry the entire 2 weeks because of repairs and had to drive 17 minutes to the nearest laundromat in a Solvang. The location is great for visiting both Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez wineries if you dont mind a 15-30 minute drive to get anywhere. There seemed to be some public wifi but only worked on Apple devices, not Microsoft, and not consistently on anything. Problematic if you work remotely. Very easy access to put in our kayak in the lake. But there are weird Lake rules that allow inflatable kayaks but not inflatable SUPs, so that was a bummer. Not much enforcement for things otherwise. $5 to put in and you have to deal with two sets of Park people every time you want to put in, so its a bit of a hassle. Really nice general store with lots of supplies and even groceries, beer/wine, and souvenirs. The campground is fairy large so ok to go for runs but no trails for biking unless youre a kid. I had mixed opinions about this campground, but I might stay here again if no other options came up.

Comment: State park\county park. Steep camping fees in my book, but rather inexpensive when compared to local area.Water is extremely low, but it is being used as a water source in a drought. Cannot swim here but you can fish and rent boats. If you want pampering go elsewhere. If you want peace this is the place for you.

Comment: Got here and realized there was some broken glass on our campsite. We had 2 cars on our site (first car is free second car you have to pay for parking)...found out we would need to pay for a separate campsite for a 3rd car even though there was plenty of parking available on the site and also plenty of overflow parking available (could have fit 5 cars on the campsite itself). Also, i ended up stepping on a rusty nail while running around playing frisbee...all in all...the experience was poor. Do not stay here unless you want to be overcharged. There are plenty of better campsites than this

Comment: Great spot for both campers and non campers. The sites have quite a few amenities and are secluded enough in some areas of the park, to give you a more private camping area. There are also yurts for those who prefer a bed to a sleeping bag. I enjoyed the spot and my friends and I plan to return.

Comment: Run by the same people who run Jalama beach. So if you have ever been there you know what to expect. There are a lot of places to camp there are areas for large groups, and very secluded areas. There is even a small store and lots of other amenities. They even have showers and probably the cleanest bathrooms Ive ever been in in a park like this. Bring the whole family theres lots to do you wont regret it. The only bad side was the fact that the river is very low. But there were so many other things to do we really didnt miss it that much

Comment: The lake and surrounding nature is beautiful although the water level is dangerously low now. I have camped here several times for work projects in the area and on the weekend it gets too crazy for my taste. It seems that in an effort to make more money they are letting in too many people which puts a strain on the facilities. The bathrooms looked like a war zone. Also it doesnt seem folks are locking up their food and the raccoons are quite active and numerous at night.

Comment: Beautiful, huge, lots of space. Overnighted here in February 2015, it was quiet and serene. Non-waterfront tent sites were $23. I camped on soft green grass in the shade of one of the many trees, and could still see the lake. Coin-op showers $.50/3 mins, clean bathrooms, very scenic.

Comment: My family and I stayed in two yurts at Lake Cachuma over a weekend in January. The yurts were really nice, and since we arrived late in the evening, the staff went ahead and turned on the lights for us, as well as the space heaters, so that they were nice and warm when we arrived. Very helpful. I think we will definitely try to make a trip back there next year.
