Excellent service, amazing cuisine, and the right ambience! All of these with such a calming atmosphere on a beautiful Sunday afternoon! I recommend the Pappardelle Bolognese; I also had the Pot de Créme and a drink called Aviation. Everything was perfect, not a taste was amiss! 10 out of 10, I will be coming back again!
Wonderful restaurant and bar. Atmosphere is not stuffy and the staff is great and attentive which is becoming increasingly rare these days. Menu offers eclectic mix and dishes always seem to exceed expectations. Brunch is excellent as well. Overall a unique, clean restaurant that always seems to deliver.
Wonderful restaurant with great food and drink in a inviting atmosphere. The outdoor seating has a view of the Boyne City marina and public fishing pier. The Belgian frites with sauce rouille is outstanding! I dont normally like alfredo, but theirs is one of the best Ive ever tried. Really great Bloody Marys and mixed drinks, as well as many draft beer and wine options. Our server Tommy was down to earth and attentive.
Who would think you can find a Belgian themed gem in northern Michigan?! We came upon this charming place while traveling and were very pleased with our experience of eating there. For lunch my wife ordered the baked brie, a scrumptious starter with lingonberry jam and pine nuts along with house-made ciabatta bread. I ordered fish and chips which was great lakes whitefish and frites accompanied with wonderful sauces. The setting is lovely old world with views of the nearby lake. We look forward to returning when the weather warms up.
I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. The outside is well taken care of and they have ample parking. Inside, the restaurant is clean and the decor is tasteful and unique. I visited for a late lunch and ordered a pizza to go for dinner. Everything we had was delicious 😋. The menu had a nice variety of fish, seafood, soup, meat, and salad options. The food came out quickly, hot, and nicely presented. The food was so good that we returned the next morning for breakfast! Waffles, waffles, and more delicious waffles (they also had other options) it was hard to choose one. The view in the restaurant is great, big open windows with view of the lake and the lighthouse. Certainly a place to visit while in Boyne City, you will love it!
Cafe Sante was everything we expected from the cheese pizza and french onion soup to the whitefish meuniere and Bolognese. Finishing off with the pot de creme. Excellent food and service with a great view of lake charlevoix. Couldnt have been better.w. Will go again for mussels.
Wow, this is the experience ive been waiting for in northern michigan. My fiance and I had a lovely time from the moment we walked into the door. We had cocktails, and a three course dinner. We started with the classic ceaser salad, and a fun twist on the classic French onion soup, which was with a duck juu instead of the beef juu. To say it was amazing is an understatement. We slowly moved onto our entrees, my fiance had the shrimp Alfredo, the sauce was smooth, creamy and delicious, the fettecini was made in house and delectable, the shrimp cooked to absolute perfection. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. I am a professional Italian chef so I can say with certainty it is the best tomatoes sauce i have had to date. The meatballs were cooked amazingly, the flavor to die for, the spaghetti noodles were the dreamboat for the entire dish. We unfortunately had to leave under our own accord due to personal reasons so we had our desert made to go. Once I was home I was fortunate enough to try the Beignet, and I can say without a doubt I will die a happy man. This, small pastry, about the size of a baseball, dense, and yeasty, I have never had an experience so wonderful than eating this pastry.Again, I am a chef, I make pastry and desserts professionally and this delicious ball of love. I can only describe it as the look that a mother gives there new born child, the first time theyve met after giving birth. The love that a mother feels for their child is how this made me feel after eating.I cannot believe I have lived in Northern michigan my entire life and I have never had such an amazing time at a restaurant. Thank you Christian for the wonderful experience, to the chefs who cooked for us, and the bartender for mixing our cocktail. I will 100% be coming back.
This is a special spot in Northern Michigan. French bistro style restaurant w/ great service, a nice wine selection, delicious meal choices & well priced. Beautiful location on Lake Charlevoix in downtown Boyne City. Dine in on a Wednesday and youll get 30% of a bottle of wine. They do have a kids menu but get a sitter and enjoy a nice romantic dinner in this mostly adult setting. Currently serving at 50% capacity so you might want to call ahead to be sure they have availability. This is my favorite local restaurant.
Impeccable service from Don, perfect timing of food delivery. French onion soup was rich and flavorful. I ordered the Jagger-snitzel which was juicy and had crispy breading. The spaetzle was lacking taste and was more of a long noodle which was unexpected. Tiramisu was top notch and the pot de creme was very rich. Also great views.
Fast and friendly service, good food with a French/ Belgian/ Euro flair. Lovely fire pit on waterfront patio in the evening. Kitchen is open to the dining area. Tasteful decor. Original artwork for sale. Nice fries. Food and bev specials. Clean restrooms. Free easy parking. Pot de crime dessert is a light version.
Very good, I wish we brunched here earlier. I got the quiche Lorraine and it was the best quiche I ever had. Coffee and everything else was swell as well. The area around the Cafe is beautiful too!! We took a stroll on the nearby docks and enjoyed the lovely weather. Water is clear and beautiful.
Great place for some great food, shrimp Alfredo is a thumbs up, French onion soup, 2 thumbs up, Margareta pizza was good, not the best Ive had. Another person in our group had the pancakes, they were great, 2 thumbs up. Bloody Mary was very good, I would have 2 next time. Definitely a place to check out and eat at if your looking for something different. I will definitely be back. Todd was an excellent waiter, I will be asking for him again. I hope your experience is the same as ours! God Bless our troops!!
Great deals for happy hour! Very accommodating for a family with a car seat. Staff is friendly, competent, and efficient. Delicious food and lovely views is the cherry on top. Strongly recommend crème brûlèe cheesecake! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Cafe Sante is an excellent choice.
Food was good. Service was lacking. I saw other servers who were very attentive and interacted well with their customers but ours not so much. It was a hot day we ate outside and we initially got our drinks for the wife and kids then appetizers came out which were good and then we didnt see our server until our entrees came out and she turned to start walking away and then asked if were all good.....empty glasses around the table should be known I shouldnt have to ask for refills. Well be back though
Cafe Sante is by far the best restaurant in northern Michigan. From breakfast to dinner to cocktails, Sante doesn’t disappoint! The food is actually prepared, so if you have a food allergy chances are they can still take care of you! And the staff, well, Chef Kyle brings an extraordinary touch of genius and pizazz that only a true Michelin Star Chef could bring. And then there is Annette, the greatest waitress of all time!
My shrimp Alfredo was to die for! After not eating all day, the staff at Cafe Sante were amazing to my EMS crew and stayed over to make sure we had a hot meal. The food was incredible. The staff so polite and awesome. Michael G, your awesome for making sure we were fed and thank you Scott for taking the late order. You all rock! If you havent tried thier food then your missing out.
Delicious food options for every meal! Over many days, I tried the pancakes, fettuccine, pizza, and salad. All were great! The location is right on the shore of Lake Charlevoix, providing great views for those dining by the window or on the patio. Definitely a top option for dining in Boyne City!
So I think this is my top breakfast, actually brunch, that Ive ever had. I would put this neck and neck with the Westin in Chicago, who has great corned beef hash, but anyway. I had the sausage plate, two types of homemade sausage, fried potatoes, homade bread and 2 eggs. Every bit of it was good. My wife had the quiche and that was good. They have seating outside with a nice view of the bay. Coffee had good flavor, but could have been a bit stronger. I like one cup of strong coffee, but I had 2 cups and a very good experience.
We had eaten here last year and loved it. We are spending another week in Boyne and this is the first place we went to. Not sure why..but things were lackluster. I had shrimp fettuccine..7 dollars extra for 4 shrimp. No bread..no salad...no crackers/cheese...$24.00 total and meal was so-so. So disappointed. Wish I could say better things.
Cafe Sante is one of the best restaurants in Michigan. Great food, service and ambiance. We make it a point to visit whenever we are near. If you enjoy French food, good beer or wine, youll enjoy Cafe Sante. Usually, we are there for dinner, but their breakfast is top notch as well.
Fantastic higher end food. Waitress was incredibly friendly (especially with some of our party struggling to pronounce some of the french words on the menu). Meals were delicious. Had a menu for gluten free that met the needs for a celiac friend, and myself. Wouldnt say the extent of GF options were outstanding, but they werent lacking. Whitefish was terrific, and the dauphinois (or dolphin noise as we joked) potatoes were delicious!
Five star ratings are for extraordinary food and service. I had brunch at Cafe Sante. It was okay. Food was good I guess? Service was okay... Our waitress was REALLY loud... I mean past loud talking and near the edge of shouting loud. It was off putting. She was nice enough... checked on us... smiled... AND TALKED REALLY LOUDLY! We ordered a Bloody Marys to start... Not remarkable... Meh... I ordered Sausage Plate.... two smallish patties of breakfast sausage, two halves of Kielbasa, eggs over medium and two pieces of grilled bread. I could not tell if the bread was buttered... My wife had the Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was not a generous portion. The sauce was also congealed like it had waited under a heat lamp for too long... Overall, factoring in the hype, I was disappointed. at 12.50 a plate for breakfast, Cafe Sante gets 3 stars,
Partner and I were looking for a last vacation meal in Northern Michigan before heading back home, and Cafe Santé exceeded all expectations. Service was thoughtful and helpful with recommendations, atmosphere was incredible, and the food was so tasty we cleaned our plates. Weve tried similar resturants in the Petosky area (both in cuisine and price) for our stay but this meal topped the list of favorites. So much so, that we will most definitely be returning on our next visit north. Highly recommend!!!
Honestly this place should be embarrassed by their service and overall atmosphere. If you are charging $45 for cod, don’t also have your waiters complain about how busy it is. The overall venue was lacking to say the least. Put some effort into your “waterfront” restaurant. Not worth it. The pubs and bar in town serve better food with less of an ego and better prices too. Save yourself the trip.
We loved every single thing we had, including one of the best waitresses we’ve ever had, Kailey! The food was beyond incredible (like I really want to curse it was that good), cooked to perfection and of course you cannot beat the view. Thank you Kailey and Staff for the wonderful evening!
The ambiance was very good and friendly staff. The food was really good. I loved everything except for the baked brie. I havent had it anywhere else so I dont know what expect from the dish but it was not to my taste. I am vegetarian and they had only one pasta and 2 pizza. I would love to see more vegetarian options on the menu. But I loved what I got.
Delicious food and great service! I ordered the Viennese Pancakes and they were wonderful - perfectly cooked. My partner got the Tuna Bagnat which looked amazing and Duck French Onion soup, which was so flavorful. The server was very attentive and kept my coffee and water topped up. I cant wait to go back!
This is the first negative review I have left in my life. My experience tonight at Cafe Sante was so atrocious, I feel compelled to share publicly. I have been a patron of Cafe Sante for many years. Furthermore, the individual I came to the restaurant with tonight has a family home in Boyne and has been patronizing Cafe Sante for over 6 years. Tonight, we arrived and put our name on the wait list. One hour later, we received one text that the table was ready, and the text asked us to get to the restaurant within 10 minutes. We had been waiting on the dock outside the restaurant, and got to the hostess desk within 11 minutes of receiving the text. However, because we were mere seconds later than 10 minutes, the hostess rudely told us we had been kicked off the waitlist and we’d have to go back to the bottom of the list and wait an additional hour. In my entire life - this was absolutely the most abysmal customer experience I have ever experienced. Your hostess was rude beyond belief and had no concern for the customers in front of her - two individuals who have patronized the cafe for years. I will never return to this establishment. Congratulations on losing a life long patron - I hope being 30 seconds late for our reservation was worth losing years of future business.
We always make it a point to visit here when we travel to Boyne. Our entire family, including teenagers, like the options and love the ambience and service. They have awesome breakfast options including their quiche Lorraine and eggs benedict! Dinners sometimes have seasonal specials that we have always enjoyed. Highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.
Absolutely my number one choice in restaurants of Boyne City. This is truly the hub of everything fabulous and I mean fabulous menu of carefully selected and prepared meals from soups firewood cooked pizzas to an array of appetizers salads entrees and scrumptious desserts. They boast a full bar with every imaginable libations and they have the friendliest servers, bartenders and managers just waiting for you to enjoy your visit ensuring ones satisfaction of five star service. The ambiance is reminiscent of a bistro in Paris with Edith Piaf singing her iconic tunes..start with an appetizer of shrimp scampi, mussels or the zucchini involtini...an absolute to live for selection..The French duck onion soup is my clasical favorite but when in season the Morel Mushroom bisque soup will make you speechless when you savor to the last spoon! The italian wedding soup is also worth a try. Then theres are the Main Entrees, my favorite is the Chicken Marsala and theres the Filet Mignon and the Seafood dishes yet to be explored. The bartenders are excellent what I call the chemist of liquid fun...they can prepare what eveyone fancies! Overall I guarantee your dining pleasure will be an experience to remember..they have indoor and outdoor dining both where one can enjoy the view of Lake Charlevoix while enjoying this wonderful experience tapping into your senses of taste site and all fabulousness! Tell them Richard sent you..Bon Appetite!
We had a reservation on Saturday for three, we were taking my father in law to dinner, he is handicapped, and does not walk well The hostess, first offered us a high top table, that wouldn’t work for him. They sat a table of 6 that walked in after us, at a regular table, then they offered us seating on the patio. Reservation for 6 turned into 6:30.The hostess was rude, we spoke to a manager, her response was the hostess is the most friendly and best employee, our response was wow, your bar for friendly must be really low. Food and service was good, but based on the hostess and manager, will never go back ever!!
Our party of 4 was dazzled by the sheer excellence of this food. I am forced changed because oh my lord it was all so incredible.Okay okay.We started with the scampi, the fromage and the bread. All 3 were spectacular. To the point I want to steal their recipe bible. For real. For dinner (we all snagged a bite of each others food) Chicken Marsala, Chicken Ceasar Salad, Solomós, White Fish. When I say that every single bite was divine I am not kidding. I have never been so blessed to have eaten a meal in all of my days. It was FABULOUS. We all ordered the meals exactly as they came, and were glad for it. They pair every flavor perfectly and somehow know EXACTLY what to do with the dish to perfectly suit itself. The portions are generous. The staff is clean cut and kind hearted. The price seems high but once youve eaten the food you will not regret it one bit !
Firstly, we wanted to sit out by the fire and it was wet so they said no. We put our name on the list and they told us 30 minute wait. After 30 minutes they said another 10 minutes, which turned into at least 20 minutes. Finally we were getting seated and walking to our table a man with a plaid shirt on came through the kitchen door and cut between my husband and I with no excuse me. We ordered our food quickly and it took at least an hour for it to come out. The shrimp scampi was amazing, but half my salmon was all broken up like it had been mangled around. Both our meals had little to no flavor and it was not a good experience. The waiter apologized and blamed it on the carry out orders. Then the man with the plaid shirt came to our table and asked us how we were doing, which was akward because he didnt have a name tag on and we had no clue who it was. This was not a good meal and not good customer service especially when our bill came to almost 60$ in the end. Save yourself the money and dont go here.
We eat there every year the night before the Michigan Mountain Mayhem bicycle event. All four of us always get a pasta with red sauce for carb loading. Its a lively place and we have a lot of fun there and it has a good view of the lake. There is an ice cream shop next door for additional carb loading.
I loved the decor of the restaurant but our service was pretty bad. We went almost 25 min without seeing our waiter and they were not busy at the time. Our drinks were barely refilled, we would wait up to 10 min just to get a refill on our drink. Thankfully we were not in a rush to go somewhere. By the time the food finally came, our pasta was literally cold and clumped together like literally balls of pasta and the chicken was over cooked. Luckily, we ordered pizza as well and that was good!
What a gem! Its one of the best European fare restaurants Ive been to. We visited for happy hour and dinner on a Saturday night. Our server was excellent. The drinks were perfect (and inexpensive with happy hour.) I had a pasta which was delicious, and my husband had the steak and frites, which we both agreed was quite possibly the best steak we had ever tasted.
Outstanding. We have been going to Cafe Sante since they opened, we have always had excellent food and service but today was especially exceptional. The eggs benedict are the best we have ever had. Today we had a group of six, four of us ordered the eggs benedict. The restaurant is on restrictions with the pandemic, outdoor seating only, so the restaurant is running on a very small staff. Somehow Chef Derek managed to get all four of our eggs benedict plus the two other meals out hot and delicious all at the same time. We were not expecting this level of excellence on a reduced staff. Very impressive. The food was so good, we are all raving about it!
We are visiting in the area for a few days and wanted some take-out (since we couldn’t eat inside the restaurants). Cafe Sante came recommended. It did not disappoint! First of all, they were so helpful recommending something that would transport back to our condo and still taste good. We got the Whitefish Meunière. It was tender and mild, and the potatoes were to die for. We also got the Duck Onion Soup...WOW! So tasty! If I lived here, this would be my go-to place. Next time we visit (which I hope is in the summer) I want to experience the restaurant itself. You MUST try this restaurant!!
Terrible service and food was not good! Our waiter first of all seemed bothered whenever we asked for something. We were completely out of water for quite some time and he never came back to check on us. Honestly I could not wait to leave the restaurant. The French Dip was terrible, Ive never heard of a French Dip being made with bacon smoked pastrami and the menu did not say anything about this preparation method. Our waiter simply said this is the way we prepare it. My wifes grilled tuna sandwich should have been called a vegetarian sandwich because the tuna was almost non-existent in the sandwich. I will never go back and I do not suggest anyone to go there because of the poor service, poor quality of the food, and the food was overpriced.
Shrimp Fet, and wild Mushroom Pizza was outstanding. Food is excellent. Menu is acceptable for the current COVID times but service was excellent (for the most part, drinks took a while...) Other than that I would highly recommend. Quaint and cozy and french 4.5 stars.
My sister Gaola actually works here as a manager and it was my first time visiting her work. Yes, I am biased because its where my sister works, but to see the interaction with the staff and how welcoming/warm they were, it was good to know shes in a great environment with genuine people. The overall atmosphere was welcoming, warm, and very chill. I can see why they get so busy, and why its popular. Food was good, I ordered pasta but tried a little bit of other peoples dish. I loved the pizza, def would come back to try other dishes when Im back in town.
We had the Saturday “Date Night” special for our anniversary! For $65, you CANT beat it! Great meal for 2, a bottle of wine and dessert to boot! We love Sante anyway. But, Nate and their fine associates really know how to do “carry out.” We highly recommend. We didn’t even know about their date night special until our neighbors turned us on to it.Pick up the phone and place your order.
I was at Cafe Sante a couple of weeks ago to carry out some brunch with my partner in dine. Placing the order was a bit of a hassle. They have online ordering on a third party site, but theres no link to that site from their website. Thankfully, the staff was very helpful and not only answered questions about the menu over the phone, but also helped me place my order.Picking up food was easy and we ate out by Lake Charlevoix. My partner in dine loved their eggs benedict and potatoes; the eggs were perfectly poached.I chose the steak frites and wasnt quite as pleased. I ordered my steak medium rare and looked forward to what I think of when I hear the word frites: thin, very crispy fries. My steak was more like medium well and the frites were not crispy. However, the steak still tasted pretty nice. It was drenched in a sauce that I think was mainly butter and ramps (or butter, garlic, and onion). Who doesnt love butter on a steak? Also, I received an unexpected side of green beans with my order. I love green beans and these were cooked perfectly. All in all, my partner in dine would probably go back for the same dish while I might try something new.
Where do I begin. I came here for the first time for my anniversary with my husband. WOW. What a BEAUTIFUL and delicate environment. I think we spent about 30 minutes just trying to decide on what to get! Everything sounded equally amazing. Our waiter...Brad...was so kind and personable. We started off with muscles and HOLY COW. They were hands down the freshest and most delicious I’ve ever had. My husband had a pasta and I decided on whitefish! Just insane. As fancy and delicious of a restaurant, we were scared to look at the bill..... IT WAS SO CHEAP. Definitely would have paid MORE for the best experience!!!!
Tasty food and good service. We sat on the patio, so our dog was able to be with us and we enjoyed the view of the water. The mussels were fresh and cooked just right. The asparagus was nicely grilled, 4 for $4 is a bit steep. I really like that they offered both still and sparkling water - a very European touch.
Our favourite restaurant! Delicious and unique foods, and I we love that many of their beers and wines are from Europe, keeping true to their inspiration of the restaurant. Our waitress this last visit, Tina, was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu and their very long wine list. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this place is a gem of northern Michigan.
Food and service were excellent! Great options for pescatarians and a couple nice vegetarian options as well. I was absolutely disgusted though, that the bartender had his mask down around his chin the entire time, except pulling it over his mouth only, when stepping from behind the bar. I also never saw him sanitize his hands once. It makes me wonder about the rest of the operation. I was sitting one table away from the bar the entire time, so could clearly see his actions. This was my first dinner out since quarantine and I was not able to relax (I’m a nurse with a masters degree in public health, so take this very seriously). Very disappointed.
If you’re in this area this is a definitely a place to go. Everything is great. They’re known for their muscles, definitely try them ,as well as the white fish. Atmosphere is a fun, music on the weekends. We love it here and so do all our friends. Very reasonably priced.
I was very very disappointed in the food, service & value here. The Shrimp Alfredo tasted like Ragu with 5 overcooked shrimp. The 2 kids didnt even like the spaghetti and thats unusual for those 2. The other 2 kids had the pizza & chicken strips which looked good but even that wasnt eaten. The only meal that looked & tasted very good was Julia Childs chicken fricassee. We unfortunately waited through more than half our meal for a drink refill which we had to ask three times for. All that was pretty bad in itself but lets add in the upset of our 4 hungry kids (& ourselves) when the waitresses actually put the bread on our table, then looked over at the table of men behind us which was seated well after us, reached back out took the bread back and gave it to THEM then she said Ill bring YOUR bread out in a minute. Then we didnt get it until after our food came. There was a gentleman entertaining. Close to the water. It could be an amazing place if they worked on it a little.
My husband and I went to Cafe Sante recently for breakfast on our honeymoon and we loved it! We were warmly greeted and the nice staff woman explained all about their house made items. Don waited on us and did an excellent job! I got thin pancakes with pistachio whipped cream and berries and my husband got sausage, eggs, and toast and boy, was it ever delicious! They even brought us 2 pieces of their bacon. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and the unique booths. We will definitely be back again at some point!
This place is overpriced, my 12 year old brother can cook a better steak, haven’t even left the restaurant and felt the need to write this review, mind you I don’t normally even review places so this place bombed hard. 21 dollars for a burnt piece of steak no more than 6oz. Ridiculous
One of the few places in the area where you can order anything of the menu and it will be delicious no matter what it is. Great atmosphere, beautiful outside sitting area in summer time. My favourite is wild mushroom pizza and always finish my meals with cappuccino since its the best in the area.
We decided to go out for breakfast at Cafe Sante for my husbands birthday. The service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and friendly and breakfast was served quickly. Everything was delicious. Our server Annette was awesome. We highly recommend Cafe Sante!
Ambience is good, but service is very bad. We were group of 10, and they made us wait for almost 40 minutes. Other groups who came later were given tables before us. Food was not so great as well. The waitress seems to be hesitant when we asked for separate check. Bathrooms were untidy. I regret choosing this place for breakfast.
Traveling in the Boyne City, MI area and had limited choices for a nice restaurant.Cafe Sante was recommended at the resort and it did not disappoint.Limited menu but the two meals that we had were excellent. Short wait that we had for a table was worth it.Wait staff and even the owner made the evening an enjoyable one.
Excellent food and service every time my family and I visit! Weve come for years, and always stop in at least once each time we come. Its our favorite restaurant in Boyne City. The meals are consistently well made and tasty. Highly recommend the Dauphinois potatoes. Its what my wife looks forward to most.
Food is quite delicious, especially the breakfast options! Price is reasonable. We had a large party (12 people), so it was really slow getting drinks and food. Also, we had to ask a few times for the same things, and the splitting of the check was kind of situation, as the server could not get the correct charge/bill completed. Will def go back, just pay with 1 card next time?
One of my favorite restaurants in Northern Michigan. Has a French/Belgian flare to the menu, with items like Moules (Mussels), Frites (twice-fried french fries), Steak and Frites, 4 different duck dishes using duck confit, etc. Also good salads. All the food that we have tried to-date (after 3 visits) was either very good or excellent. House wines are well above average. Pricing is reasonable. Plus, this place has great atmosphere, is on the water, and has great service. Whats not to like? :)
We came in after not being acknowledged at a establishment down the road in Walloon Lake. We were taken care of promptly our server was very good (the other one in our party has issues with dairy and the server came back to our table a couple of times after we ordered to let us know exactly what was in our food to make sure it wouldn’t make her sick) we had drinks and ordered off the happy hour menu it was very good and everything was very reasonably priced.. We would both recommend this restaurant anytime..
Memorial Day 2020- I have to update this review. We went to this restaurant today. We were going to eat lunch here. Typically one of our favorite places to go when we are in Boyne City. In fact, we just ate at another one of their restaurants yesterday in Elk Rapids. We asked at the host stand if we could bring our dog and sit in the patio as we have done on previous visits. The person said yes. I let my husband know and he parked our vehicle and I went inside to the table and ordered our drinks. The drinks came, my husband came up to the patio gate we were told to go to. I was not able to open it because it was locked. I went inside to let our server know. She then sent what appeared to be a manager over to unlock the gate. Instead, he told us very rudely that we can’t have the dog on the patio. The rules changed. Now, I can understand where this may have happened. Obviously the people at the host stand were not aware either.Whoever this manager was today was extremely rude to both of us! My husband walked away and said he’s not eating here. He acted like we were doing something wrong. We asked about bringing the dog in before we even came in the restaurant. I don’t blame the people at the host stand, they probably didn’t know. The manager clearly needs to read the employee manual on customer service!! We would have understood the patio policy change if there even was one. There was no need to be so rude and act like we were doing something wrong! Not sure if we’ll be back. I’m pretty surprised because we always have had good service here and at this restaurant groups other restaurants. Too bad.Previous review - My husband and I love this restaurant. We stop in every time we visit Boyne City. Love the Steak and Frites! Great French Onion soup too. Very impressed with the ambiance and menu choices. Can’t wait to come back next vacation!
I experienced this I place for the first time and loved it. The food selection was great and all of it looked amazing when coming out from the kitchen. This is a great place to eat in downtown Boyne City. If you’re in the area, stop in and grab a bite to eat and something to drink. The wait staff will be pleased to wait on you and help you decide on something delicious if you can’t make up your mind
I had heard how great the food was and how much of it you got for the price. We got charged $3.00 for 2 small juice glasses of sparkling water that tasted like it came from the tap! I was not impressed with either the food or the quantity. The service was great though!
We always make it a point to stop in for dinner at Cafe Sante when we are in the Boyne City area and I suggest that you do the same. The food is always fantastic with an ever changing menu. The local couldnt be more perfect right on the shoreline of Lake Charlevoix. Prices are fair and in line with the exceptional food that is served. I cant wait for my next trip north.
When my husband and I are in Boyne City we always enjoy a meal there. Were never disappointed. During this visit we thought wed try their happy hour... our experience with these happy hour specials at other restaurants/bars is that theyre usually watered down some. .well these martinis were so strong that after my usual 2 I could hardly function. I know I shouldnt complain about the alcohol content but serving them from a pre-mixed pitcher of martinis may not be the best option for serving customers, and keeping them safe. We LOVE Cafe Sante otherwise.
Loved this place since it opened but sadly disappointed on our last visit, 4th of July. Cucumber Cooler still the most delicious cocktail ever but very little alcohol. Chicken was very small and very dry. My husbands steak was so tiny we were both shocked when it was dropped off. Service has gone down some too.
Always good food and service! Beautiful location on lake Charlevoix. Unique menu, check out happy hour for great prices on drinks and food. If your a steak and potatoes lover definitely try the steak en frites but sub out the frites for the dauphinois potatoes! Best potatoes we have EVER had!!! Also, I’m a huge tea drinker and the Earl Grey tea is the BEST!
If I could do half stars Id rate it 4.5. Wonderful patio seating. Drinks were great, highly recommend the cucumber cooler for a refreshing sunmer drink. Mussel appetizer was good. Rissoto with scallops dinner was fantastic - scallops were cooked perfectly. Will return in future.
The best up north culinary experience you can find. Exquisite bar selection you cant find anywhere else. Extensive wine list and wonderful breakfast lunch and dinner. Knowledgeable friendly and courteous waitstaff that go out of their way to make your experience one-of-a-kind.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but the menu never changes. I understand that the menu has not been changed in ten years!! Fries are served in a cone which makes them limp instead of crisp. Ive lived here one year and Im finding the menu boring. The past few visits, food presentation has been terrible (the main entree served on a salad plate without garnish) and the service generally fast and impersonal. Servers write their names on the paper table cloth which is way out of style. Its not a bad place but the price is high for a generally disappointing experience. Beware of hidden charges for water offered at the table; sparkling or flat @ I believe $2.50 a glass.
Recently was here for breakfast before hitting the slopes at Boyne Mountain. Our server Brad was very helpful and patient, not to mention he had a really awesome Star Wars shirt on. Asked him for some hot sauce and he came back with a selection of 6 different ones. The breakfast overall was delicious, but the bacon was a little sad. One side of bacon consisted of three shriveled strips. Would still recommend this place though!
This is our first time here, and if it werent for our weekend trip, it wouldnt be our last. It claims to have the ambience of a European cafe, and and truth be told - it does not disappoint. At the table, we were given both flat and soda water in classic glass bottles. The daily special, revolving around a 3 course meal, was highly recommended. That being said, most anything on the menu is recommended. The feeling of dining in a European cafe was slighted only by the fact that the menu was limited to the regional seafood offerings, and by the more American music offerings by the live musician performing during dinner. Overall, this is a great place to enjoy great tasting food in an outdoor cafe setting on the lake.
Cafe Sante... The best meal I have had in a long time. My whole group got something different and we all tried each others meals and drinks. We could not find anything we didnt love. It was a very enjoyable time with a great staff that were very helpful with any questions we had about the different foods, and are kind enough to print out what recipies they could so we could try to make them at home. Would not hesitate to send anyone there no matter how picky of an eater they are. Would HIGHLY recommend anyone who stops in to ask for Alie C. as their waitress because she was so kind and helpful the entire evening with helping us decide on our dishes and drinks and did not mind all of our questions we asked( and there was a ton). Awesome time. Evan better food. Will be making another trip in the future. 5 outa 5 stars and thats not generous enough.
I was meeting some friends there tonight who were running late. They arrived 40 minutes after I did. At that time, the server had not even to offer water. After the arrival of my friends, it was still a 15 minute wait even after I pulled out my phone and called the restaurant to inform them I was in their restaurant and still had not been waited on when a waiter FINALLY arrived. We were not the only ones to receive poor service though. The man at the table next to me got fed up and went to the bar himself to get a glass of wine for himself and his wife. Worst service I have ever experienced in a dining establishment.
It is à really cosy place, we really like the restaurant. The decoration is pretty, the staff is really nice (katyah our waitress was really kind and always smiling). You have to try their tea they have excellent organic tea and their tiramisu is excellent also !Only good things to say about this restaurant !
Our experience was like so:Me & my business partner were on a lunch date, we both decided to try Cafe Santé, im so happy we did the host was welcoming and the view was to die for, I mean anyone who loves views of the water its so nice, for some odd reason they had the fire pit out side, and my business partner was a bit nervous about getting her caught on fire, she was fine after that, then our server came around seamed nice at first, just felt very very rushed & short to the point, wasnt what I was expecting or even wanting (the next ta le to us seemedlike they werent rushed at all), we are both from European part of the world so thats what attracted us there, Im from Romania & Shes from England, so we wanted to relaxed feel like we would of have in Spain, didnt happen, the view over came our fault waiter, then we ordered the smalon salad, we both loved it, im so super shocked they even got my order right, when I tell people Medium Rare (I want what I wan), some how the server tend to forget that detail out (he did not) any way, long story short, we absolutely loved it and will be back with clients, how ever could use a bit of fine tweaking on some servics education, just dont like to feel like we are rushed or short tempered! all in all 3 out if 5 stars in my book!

2022-02-22Over the last 6 weeks my wife and I have been coming in for Dine in the Alps, 6 Countries in 6 Weeks. Awesome food, great taste and presentation. We really enjoyed Slovenia and Germany weeks. We have always heard good stuff about Cafe Sante, one night we did order off their menu and the steak and pasta were great. Our server Joan was the best, so we ask for her now when we go. If you havent been there, put it on your list!

2022-02-10For this place being located not far from a tourist trap it is surprisingly good with decent prices. The pasta is made in house with delicious sauces. They have a ton of great drinks to choose from. They also have wood fired pizzas. This is definitely a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. And dont get me started on the breakfast absolutely delicious.

2022-01-17Cafe Santé is an amazing cafe. Along with providing great service, the food was also amazing. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. With some jazzy music in the background, and European paintings across the walls, this café makes me want to stay here all day! An excellent breakfast place, and on my 4-Day weekend, I came here twice!

2022-04-13Cafe Santé was great. The duck French onion soup was rich and delicious. The garlic butter broth that my mussels were in was so good, I ended up drinking it all after I finished my mussels. The lemon sauce in the whitefish Á la meuniére was light and very fresh tasting. The pappardelle bolognese was tasty as well.We got a free dessert (an addicting creme brulee cheesecake) due to the host not notifying the servers that we were seated so it took awhile before anyone came to take our orders.I would come back again if I was in the area.

2021-11-27This restaurant is European style, they have a lot of your classic brunch entrées but theyll be a little different from what youre used to. It was all fantastic nonetheless. The mimosas had great champagne and juices, the Americano was great and I loved the Vienna pancakes. Theyre thinner than your classic pancakes but they pair great with the Michigan maple syrup and pistachio butter and whipped cream. Definitely will plan on coming again when in the area! Very fast and friendly service with a great view of the lakes.

2021-08-06Excellent location, great lake view, really good fish& chips; good mixed drinks; I would give more points, however watch out for the bartender, he adds +$4 to your drinks for a shot, which a) we never ordered b) never got. We overheard that he told his trainee to just add it. We questioned the $4 and received a make believe answer of a fee offering a discount. He might have confused himself. We did not engage further and just left.- few days later the manager followed up and in the spirit everybody should leave happy inquired about the details and might add this glitch to the procedure training program. We are all good.

2021-10-17My husband and I came in on Sweetest Day/Homecoming night, we were worried about a wait/table as my husband had had knee surgery the day before. The hostess seated us quickly, choosing a table that would be comfortable for my husband. Given the fact that it was a full house I thought it was kind of her to take the time to be that thoughtful. The restaurant was clean, the ambience was relaxed, very warm and welcoming. The vibe was chill, everyone was in a great mood - the staff especially, their energy and enthusiasm was infectious. Our server was Hilary, (shes awesome, definitely recommend asking for her when you come in), also Annette and Evan are wonderful as well. All three were friendly, would stop by to chat/check in on us. Ill definitely go back for the service alone. As for the food 10/10, compliments to the chef. My husband and I both had filets, they were perfectly cooked, delicious and well worth trying.(Pardon the pictures, I hadnt thought to snap a picture of my filet before I cut into it. And no, my linguine was not served that way, that was me.)Excellent experience, service and food.Overall, definitely drop in for dinner! And when youre done pop next door to Alpine Chocolat Haus - you wont regret it.

2022-05-15We tried 3-course morel menu and oyster bienville. Firstly, there is few morel is included in it. Secondly, the oyster bienville is a disaster. I cannot even swallow it. Thirdly, I have severe diarrhea after eating this meal.
