Comment: Caliber Collision on Johnson Street in El Cajon did some real substandard work on our 2017 Sorrento, transforming it into a Bondo sled apparent from A block away. Their staff member, adamantly praised the work, despite the prominent protrusion (Bondo) on the rear door. This situation repeated after a prior negative experience at Caliber Collision on Main Street in El Cajon. Initially influenced by a recommendation, I regret choosing their services. I advise against entrusting your vehicle to any Caliber Collision location.

Comment: Not recommended! Quoted me 2 weeks for a MINOR scratch and on the supposed finish date I have to call in 3 times finally get the response that my vehicle needs extra days to complete. Absolutely no communication or heads up, you need to initiate all the calls to inquire the status.Just noticed today (3 days after I picked up my car). The damage was on the rear right bumper, when I felt and knocked on it it feels a little “loose” inside whereas on the left rear undamaged side it feels “solid”. Definitely not like the original, I’m not going to list the price/cost here but it’s expensive for the work in my opinion luckily I only have to pay the deductible the rest my insurance pays.

Meanwhile he has to spend a lot of money on a loaner car. His insurance wont pay for the repairs. He feels like he was taken advantage of. They should have given him an estimate before taking it apart. They should have contacted his car insurance first. They are looking like the kind of people who take advantage of senior citizens.

Comment: 1. Manager, Matt, and Service Writer, Trevor, were not on the same page which resulted in a “bait & switch” situation involving my initial estimate and drop off.2. Service Writer spoke down about manager repeatedly and said “don’t listen to him” when confronted about situation #1.3. Service Writer became threatening during situation #2 and said he would be “buttoning” up the car so I can take it elsewhere.4. Service writer did not adequately communicate timelines. He would repeatedly tell me to pick up tomorrow, then tell me there was a delay. This occurred for 10 days.5. Service Writer then quit communicating and responding to my texts, which was the preferred method of communication as stated by the shop. So a phone call ensued.6. Phone call in situation #5 was for an update on picking up my vehicle. Service writer states fuses are blown (something unrelated to what we brought the vehicle in for). Tells me my car is old and it was a problem when we brought it in (vehicle is maintained with service records in a family that owns an automotive shop). I ask questions, service writer starts laughing at me.7. As a result of situation #6, service writer informs me it looks like they’ll have my car for longer and “will be in touch whenever it’s ready”.8. I report situation #7 to insurance and they call the shop, twice, for an update and are hung up on or are put on hold for over 30min. This is per USAA property damage claims rep Jared Gomez.9. Manager calls me to tells me something happened to the car and every fuse is blown. They need another few days. They refuse to let me come look at it at this point.10. Manager drops off to my husband’s mechanic shop with several issues involving acceleration. Technician runs a scantool and resets modules. Tech informs me that Caliber Collision jump started the vehicle “backwards” which resulted in fried fuses.11. Upon entry of vehicle, we notice dashcam has been ripped from a direct-mount installation. Dashcam now is broken and requires replacement.12. Per Bureau of Automotive Repar, it is against their laws to alter a customer vehicle without their consent. This includes the removal and uninstall of constant recording devices. Manager informed us via email it was shop policy. Manager could not provide any written literature or agreements I had signed stating that. Had the manager informed of us an existing shop policy in the beginning, the dashcam would’ve properly been removed.Overall, we are very dissastisfied with this service and will do what we can to recommend friends and family seek another shop.

Comment: If I could give 0 stars, I would. I brought my truck in for insurance body work repairs. The whole right side needed repairs so when they pushed back the initial estimated completion date, I was ok with that. After that, they kept pushing back the date for various reasons, one being that the right side mirror had gone missing. Another excuse they gave me was that they didn’t have enough clear coating. Two and a half months later, I’m able to finally pick up my truck. But it wouldn’t start! The battery terminal connectors were all scratched up and one was missing a screw so it was loose. I brought it to my mechanic to test the batteries and maybe get the screw replace and they found a rag ON TOP OF THE TURBO! It was burned and smoking! If I drove my truck further than that, it would’ve caught the whole truck on fire.Communication with the estimate adjuster, Trevor, was fine, but I will never get body work done with Caliber Collisions again.

Comment: Zero stars if I could.I initially took my Mazda CX5 in for insurance repair work on the front driver door. Dents were removed and paint work done. After getting the car back, approx 1mo later we notice the edge of the front door was making noise and chipping from opening and closing door. I took the vehicle back for warranty work. They fixed the misaligned door and repainted the edges in two days. (They removed the door initially for paint work) My wife picked up the car when it was done. Next day, I go and inspect the work and find several paint imperfections and unevenness from mickey mouse paint work. So complain to management inorder to make this right, so they took the car back once more to correct the finish. So now, present day, I picked up the car yesterday, everything seemed fine paint work was good, passable but not perfect. (could still see masking paint lines from not blending properly) at this point I was happy that it didnt look horrible like before. Today, this afternoon I close my door and the exterior door lock cylinder falls out and hits the floor. They forgot to properly tighten the bolt to the lock when they put everything back together the first go around. How the cyclinder lock stayed in place and not fall out surprises me, unlike their horrible attention to detail and quality control skills. So called them immediately, as they were closing in 15min and spoke with the front desk gentleman. He had stated that the techs, manager and service writer already left for the day and he provided me The managers email for follow up. Lets see if they screw up a third time. Once everything gets resolved hopefully, I will not be returning. I dont care if its under warranty or not. Zero trust. During these instances I never asked for anything more than to do the job correctly and not rush.Gabriel2016 Mazda CX5

Special kudos to Alfonso who in my opinion exceeded my expectations in keeping me updated, allowing me to see the work being done mid-point (where I got to thank each tech working on my vehicle), and tracking down backordered parts getting my vehicle back before the rental car time expired. My story started with the battery dying in their parking lot upon dropping it off for repair. What are the odds. So far so good as the paint blending and put back, which included recalibration of all of the sensors, panel alignment etc. exceeded my expectations. 10/10.

Comment: I got rear ended and the insurance company said they typically use caliber collision to do the repairs. So I trusted the process. Everything seemed as if it went smooth and they even had finished faster than originally expected. & I was ready to give them 5 stars as they requested. Until I noticed rims were missing. My car was returned in a rush and in the process of the repairs interior parts were broken. It was impossible for them to take accountability for what they broke. I just gave up the amount of times I had to drop off/leave my car for them to fix things instead they gave me the run around and still I was willing to write them a great review if they could turn my experience around. I wish I had looked around before making a decision. The only possible way this location has 5 star reviews is if they pay for them.

Armando didn’t seem to write down the things that were wrong with my vehicle and we’re just left as they were, they buffed the entire vehicle to remove surface scratches in my clear coat that they put there! And the manager yuri said “all cars have scratches” no! My vehicle was brand new! I was told to leave my number and info to this email and was never contacted by caliber… yuri the manager gave me a number for an auto detail company to get my car detailed to remove the scratches….. but why didn’t they take it there first instead of trying to remove the scratches their employee put there in the first place? Beware of caliber on Johnson!!!

I would recommend going with this place for collision repairs if AAA is paying for repairs. They are a preferred vender by AAA, so all the payment and paperwork went straight to AAA rental car from Enterprise and payment from AAA. Also, they are aligned with Enterprise on Magnolia, so they picked me up at Caliber and I was also able to leave my rental with them at the end of the repair. That cooperation took a lot of stress off of me and I am grateful.

Comment: Bad experience, really bad one, i dont usually write reviews only when i have to, anyways i took my car (2018 ACCORD) to Caliber Collision as it was recommended by my insurance (AAA) so i was like ok if they are good why not, i left the car there with minimal damage in the rear end and they checked it and said it will take 8 to 10 days max so i expected the worse and added 2 days so 14 days i was like ok no problem and they promised to keep me updated on the status of the car, but eventually i got my car after a month of dropping it there with no follow up and no calls not even a rental car because they couldnt finish it by the time they promised and i called them more than 4 times for updates every single time they will be like they guy responsible for your car he is not here and he will give you a call back when he will be available and i got no calls from them until the day of picking up my car which is today and i dropped the car on Oct/14, and when i dropped the car everyone seems stressed and rude!! but anyways that was my experience with Caliber Collision, it was my first and last time to do business with them.

Comment: Front end damage to 2010 Dodge Ram pick-up repaired. Had to return within days due to peeling chipping paint. Then brought back again because the HVAC system failed and was told it needed to go to the Dodge dealer for correction. Rancho Dodge Jeep was recommended. Insurance refused to reimburse $305 invoice. Now I find that 4 of the 8 of the large bolts that are supposed to mount the front bumper are not installed. Quality workmanship appears a real problem at this facility.

Comment: **6 weeks start to finish for alligment and bumper repair**. This will be a bit long but will explain why 1 star.2005 GMC 25001sep my truck was involved in a collision. Caliber was recommended by my insurance agency.5sep they looked at my truck and ordered parts.18 sep they finally began work on my truck.13 oct my truck was finally donePROBLEMS.3 trips to 2 different alligment shops. And the steering is still not right.Dave Perez couldnt find the tire for my truck, after 5 weeks, I made 3 phone calls and found a matching tire. Locally in under 20 mins. They didnt even go get it installed. So after picking up my truck, I had to go and have the tire installed.REWORK!! They had to redo the bumper after they scratched it. Alligment after the 2nd trip to the alligment shop I swung by and test drove the truck, with Dave. Truck still pulled to the left. More rework. 3rd trip, to alligment shop and more parts ordered.New abs sensor wireing was not installed correctly. Had to tell them twice to reroute it correctly.I was quoted 2 weeks for repairs NOT!!!All in all Im throughly disgusted with the whole experiance.The only positive thing I have to say is staff is very friendly, and returns calls promptly. The text updates are a nice touch as well.

Comment: This was by far the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Ive used this shop in the past and never had an issue. This time? not sure if its because the Insurance Policy is in my husbands name or the management team just doesnt care, but terrible, treatment. Car took 2 days longer than I was quoted. Didnt find out until I CALLED THEM to get the status. Three times, they called the home phone number instead of me, tried to only talk to my husband about the repairs (he doesnt pay for my car, he has no idea about how it runs etc..etc..). Even though when I did the consult, I gave them all of my info, as the primary contact-And not ONCE did I get an apology for not being treated as the primary, for them calling the wrong person, for not communicating at all...

The work on my Nissan Altima was superb and it was back as good as i had it before the accident. I would highly recommend this to anyone I know who needs repairs help. Youre in good hands.

Comment: Caliber does excellent work. Not only did they do a comprehensive job of repairing my Rav4 from road damage but they also buffered out some paint from another incident for free. That is good service. My car was returned to me better than new. I would highly recommend Caliber for repair work.
