Camelias Mexican Grill in other cities:
Miguel the server added a 20% tip and explained all customers have the 20% added as a policy. I asked him specifically and he again explained the same. So after speaking with a manager I asked Miguel did the other Caucasian customers get charged an added gratuity of the same and he stated no!!! So I told him he it’s best that he refund my bill and I felt like he stereotyped my family and I will not say it’s due to color and nationality but he could not explain why we were treated in that manner. I still left a 10% tip but I will be taking this matter higher up even if it lands on the lap of the board. I just practices and unfair treatment to add a higher gratuity on singled out customers. Horrible practice and treat all customers with the same respect. Best believe I will not recommend and I will be speaking to others on this matter. Thanks Miguel for showing your true self and diminishing my value as a customer!!!
Very bad experience. My friend made it there before us and reserved a table. He had to wait 10 minutes before someone even came over to get him started with water. And, when he asked if they had hot water , the waitress rudely responded that they did not . And, when we asked for water in room temperature / without ice, she brought it with ice, and responded saying that it will be cold with out without the ice. Coming to the drinks and food. I have not tasted a strawberry Daquiri that was so horrible. Could literally feel the over ripe taste. And the chips and salsa were additional charge . The vegetarian Fajitas literally was undercooked and with no flavor whatsoever. When we spoke to the waitress about it , she once again rudely responded that there was no flavor because it was vegetarian !! And, to top that , she tried to clear my friends plate while she was still eating !! Never going back there again and strongly recommend others from going there as well ..
Had Carry out, went home and the order wasnt right. I called to see what could be done. I was told to come back and they would fix my order. I asked if they could credit my order and offer me something for the inconvenience. I was told by the Manager that nothing could be offered. Mind you, she took my order and messed it up. Customer Service should be a top priority during these times. I was very disappointed! My order was $58 dollars and $10 tip. I wont be back!
Im a Nacho type of guy and their nachos were very good and very presentable. Their service was mediocre. A little bit unorganized at times. But I was willing to overlook some of those weaknesses because the food was very authentic. As to the picture of the nachos that you see, please be aware that I asked for extra tomatoes and they came in a cup on the side and I sprinkled them on top. I was charged 99 cents for those diced tomatoes. Its not a big deal but I did ask for no green peppers and very light onions so one would think that because of the subtraction, asking for a little extra of the other ingredient should have been at no charge. The dining room was dark. Thats fine at night time during the dinner hour but I was there at lunch. I think during the lunch hour they should have more lighting. Overall the experience was really well and I give it 5 stars because of the food quality.P.S. For Manager/Owner: If you could spend $30 to improve the look and experience for the customer, what would you buy?HINT: It has nothing to do with food, drink or wait staff.
The staff was nice. The food not so great. Puff tacos were so Greasy. My Enchilada were so dry, the sauce just yucky. Are waiter was so nice and did his job great. Unfortunately wont be back here. For the price of food at 50.00 bucks I could of ate at taco bell and had a better meal and way cheaper. I gave it a 3 due to again the waiter.
My husband and I went there for my birthday dinner and it was very busy. It was Friday night and only one waitress was waiting on all the tables. She had a couple helpers but you could tell that they were not waiters they were just helping her. It took a while to get our drinks and our order taken and then the chips were very cold. You could tell that they were not freshly made chips. The food was good but not anything special. We were really disappointed that it wasn’t as great of an experience as it could have been. I’m not sure if they are staffed sadly. The waitress was very kind but you could tell she was flustered.
Its Christmas Eve and we just finished our family dinner, ordered from Camelias last evening. I could not wait to post this review. Our family so enjoyed not cooking this evening. We had the chicken tamales, rice, salsa, chips, guacamole. In one word, Delicious! Add to that, fresh, generous portions, very reasonably priced. We cant say enough about the food. If you havent been there, give them a try. We highly recommend them!
It wasnt busy at the time I went. Our waiter Miguel was awesome. He dealt with my crazy questions like a pro, even let me touch the hair on his arm lol. Prices are reasonable. Food came out hot anddelicious. Margaritas are a nice size and taste pretty good. I would definitely go back and reccomend this place. Truly authentic.
Went here today with my elderly mom (who uses a cane). As the only African-American present, I felt totally discriminated against. We stood at the front waited to be seated, as we watch a waitress serve the part right next to the door. Instead of her coming over after, or acknowledging us as she served, she ignored us and went over to the bar on the opposite side of the restaurant.I was ready to go then and there, but my mom asked me to go over to her and ask her to be seated smh. So I did and she looked up from the bar annoyed. She told me I could go and pick a table and she will bring over the menus. Mind you, it wasnt crowded and I didnt want to be further ignored sitting somewhere she doesnt know about. So I repeatedly asked that she seat us.So she sits us near the bar where is noisy and chatty. A different waitress waits on us. When we arrive at the table, she doesnt greet us. Just ask if we want drinks. So we make our beverage orders and look through the menu. She comes back over and takes our orders. While the waitress was away, I tell my mom I would like to sit at a booth nearby, since it was further away from the chatter. When the waitress comes back with our food, before sitting it down I point to the nearby table and ask can we sit there instead. She seems irritated but approves the request. We move over to get seated. Before that waitress leaves, I ask for extra chips. The chips were good, but they dont give much. So she goes to get the chips, then brings them back. My mom and I get started eating. I try the side of sour cream I requested, and its rancid! Mistake? I think not! Okay. The pettiness continues. The bad sour cream has me wondering what else has been tampered with on my plate? I lost my appetite. The whole time we were at the table and my mom was eating, not once did the waitress come to see how our food was. Not once! But I watched her ask other customers. I watched both women greet people at the door as soon as they walked in too.I couldnt help but notice we were the ONLY Black people in the place. I guess we didnt get the memo. After all, Farmington Hills is too diverse to not have any other Black people present. That was definitely by design. To add insult to injury, when I told the waitress that the sour cream was bad, she took it off my bill but charged me for extra chips!!! The meal should have been FREE! They suck. I will NEVER go here again! Cant wait to share with my 60K followers to avoid this circus. People need to be aware of who they are giving their money to.
I went to Camelia’s with a friend today and ordered the chile rellenos. First, we were served chips and salsa. The chips are so fresh, really crispy. The salsa is fresh-made and delicious. We finished the chips quickly. Our entrees came, and my chile rellenos were cooked to perfection. Chile rellenos are large green peppers, stuffed with chicken and cheese, baked in the oven after dipped in egg batter and lathered in tomato salsa. It is, in my opinion, the best meal on the menu. I loved my meal, and ate half, taking the remainder home with me because of such large portions.I love this restaurant and come here monthly!
Your average Mexican restaurant. The chips for nachos and chips and salsa are thick and hard. I kept stabbing my mouth with partially chewed chip particles that were sharp. This put a damper on rest of meal. We had eaten inside before and its a typical Mexican interior. I think you either love or hate this place. Like I said my opinion is average.
I got two ground beef tacos, 1 barbacoa and a side of rice and beans. Best thing was the beans I liked the fact they came with cheese on top. $20 down the drain. Soft corn tacos with only 1 shell... so tacos were falling apart. $20..one shell everywhere else in history doubles the shell when its soft corn. Rice was a bit mushy but flavor okay. Barbacoa not at all what Im used to seemed more like roast..which they do offer on the menu but I wanted flavorful extra tender juicy marinated barbacoa like Im used to. Ground beef was flavorless. Sauces were watery in taste and consistency plus had to pay $2 extra for Verde. Even the pico was sub par. Yikes not going back.
Food was decent...a little departure from what Im used to based on the authentic Mexican restaurants in Southwest Detroit. Rice was very good, wet burrito had salsa on it instead of red sauce which was different. The fajitas were good, only got 3 tortillas though. Customer service was great. All in all if you are craving Mexican this is good spot to hit. If you are accustomed to the Mexican restaurants you find in Southwest Detroit you may be in for a little let down.
Terrible service. At Camelia’s, I was in the bar area. I waited for over an hour and not one of the waitresses acknowledge me. Then, when they finally did, the lady told me that they wouldn’t serve me and that the bar was carry out only ((an hour later)). I came to meet up with a friend who had been served food and drinks at the bar. Also, to my left and right, there were customers being served food and drinks as well. I don’t if was a sudden change, due to the influx of customers but, if you see a customer waiting (the waitress stared at me, and spoke to every other customer at bar) at least acknowledge and inform the customer of the current situation in a timely matter. It’s such an inconvenience and I won’t be back.
A cute place for Mexican food. Food is good, portion sizes are reasonable. Decor is also very nice. It takes some time to get seated and get your food so this place would benefit from having more staff and a host. To be honest the first time I came over I waited for 5 minutes to be seated and nobody came over so I left. I think that’s a shame when you lose customers because of something that can be easily managed. Overall it’s nice restaurant and I will be back when I’m not it a hurry :)
So glad they are open for dine in again. We have been going here since they were at the smaller location on 12 mile. Food is still great. It were a little bit chilly inside but I suspect that was due to not being filled to capacity (in accordance with state mandated orders) like they used to be.
We love the food here😍. It was nice to be able to go out to eat in a restaurant. Always a great meal here. I love their homemade tortillas.😋😋. I feel like they may have raised their prices though but I feel like that will be the case in many establishments because of Corona virus
Customer service was horrible. Went for mothers day expected it to be busy but it really wasnt. Had one waiter for all the other tables. Whenever asked for something seemed like an inconvenience. Waited forever for a check. Added a gratuity for 7 guest. And had us totally separated when we are the same party but that could be for covid reasons.
Very pretty restaurant! The atmosphere was like I was in Cozumel Mexico! The food was good overpriced! I asked for chicken Im a vegetarian plate they just handed me to check in no rice no sides or anything. And my fiance is not happy with the bill that we got. So we make a decision really quick at least he does that we wont be back!!
The food is good, but the service has been consistently terrible. Even the owner is not quick to acknowledge or recognize a customer. I was in there one day and she was having a meeting with the wait staff telling them that their service needs to improve. I thought that was laughable since I have waited to give a carryout order to her at the bar, when she herself did not even acknowledge me, but rather walked back into the kitchen area for at least five minutes before she returned to make my order. And yes, she saw me standing there. I still go there, but not nearly as much as I would if their service was half-way decent. The owner ought to practice what she preaches and maybe her wait staff would do what she asks, which is give good service.
2 stars, just because the staff was kind and good at service. However, the food was nothing like I had expected. I had ordered the vegetarian combo. My burrito just had onions inside, not hint of guacamole or sour cream, rather nothing else. The enchiladas and quesadillas werent much appreciable either.
I have found my new AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant. I had a really enjoyable dining experience. The atmosphere is casual, cozy and clean. The server was very polite and attentive to details. I received my food in a timely manner, despite beginnings of the dinner rush. Aw man, the food---The food was incredibly flavorful, from appetizer to dessert. Everything was moderately priced. After reading a few reviews that were slightly negative, I avoided Camelias. But I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised and will return again to dine.
Mexican restaurant with no guacamole? I was in a party of two. We were seated quickly since the restaurant was not very busy even though it was dinner time. My food came out lukewarm at best. Both of us had the same rice. One was warm and the other cold. When the food came back, it was piping hot and tasted very good. The waitress was very apologetic and provided excellent service. The parking lot landscaping could use some maintenance. I wasnt 100% sure they were open until I came around the vegetation out front.
I had high hopes for this 4 star joint. Nope! If you want two extremely small dry flautas (no salad toppings or tomatoes, served dry with just sour cream on the side) and two INSANELY SMALL dry tamales for 14 bucks this is the place to go. And to top it off , the girl thats up front who gave my to go order to me had a rude attitude when I said have a good night? Wth lol. Over priced terrible food
They have good food, but its hard to get it! The service is lacking. When we seated then waited almost 10 minutes before we decided to go somewhere else for dinner. This is not the first time their service was inattentive. We had a waitress walk by several times, a busser as well. Neither of them acknowledged us, or said someone would be right with there. We made eye contact with several staff members and no acknowledgment was made. I would recommend teaching teamwork and observing the customers. If someone has been sitting there and the customers look like they have not been attended to, then at least check.
Walked in at 20 min to 9:00. Was informed by an annoyed, overly pierced hostess that we could be seated but had to order in 5 minutes or less in order to be served. There was a sign on the table that said there was a limit as to the amount of chips that would be served (2) without additional cost.(not a big deal but highly unusual).I attempted to order a second drink at 9:05 and was told the bar was closed and we could no longer be served. When we asked the manager, we were told that we were lucky to have even been served at all.We finished our meal thankfull for our good fortune and for the opportunity to spend our money at such an exclusive restaurant..When the waiter returned with our credit card receipt ( apparently they still take payments after 9 oclock). We had difficulty signing the receipt due to the fact that the manager shut off all the lights in the restaurant while we were still sitting there.I have honestly never been so insulted in a restaurant in my life. The arrogance of the manager was overwhelming. However, feel free to enjoy their food at their convenience
The chicken tortilla soup was gross. I sent it back after I took one bite. I could tell the staff didnt like that. The salsa was excellent. My Mexican sandwich had like 5 chunks of beef on it that were very fatty & I dont like that.I probably wont return. This place wasnt bad but it wasnt great either.
I had lunch here after a great time at Marvins (across the street). We arrived in time for the lunch specials. I had the Tacos de Barbacoa. Our server was very nice and anticipated our needs. The food was FANTASTIC and the price was very good. Even my picky eater loved his childrens combo plate with tacos. Cant wait to go back for enchiladas.
The food is good....but the service....omg...its consistently terrible. My boyfriend and I have been eating here about once a month for a year and always wait forever for service and usually get a server who is young and inexperienced. ***Update*** We returned because the food is really good and wondered if just maybe service/management had improved....the service was actually worse! We sat at our table for 15 minutes before even being acknowledged by anyone. Our food took forever, the kitchen made a mistake with my order, and the resteraunt wad not even that busy. There were open tables all over the place on a Saturday evening. That should tell you something. We just wont ever come back here again.
Every time I go here I remove a star from my original 5-star rating... service is super slow... like unbearably slow. Servers disappear, forget drinks multiple times, never check on you... its as if they are taking the orders and cooking the food. Most Mexican restaurants are known for quick service - plan on spending 2 hours here. Food is good but expensive for Mexican food.
I ordered a la carte 4 Carne Asada tacos in flour tortillas with onion/cilantro on the side. I wish I could post a picture for you to see how little meat was inside each taco. You either get smaller tortillas for that (and charge less) or do a decent amount of carne asada when you are charging 4 usd per taco. Totally disappointed :(
Great food. Fantastic service. I highly reccommend this restaurant. We were a party of 7. Three under the age of 5yrs. They seated us and without any problems. Took our orders, brought us our appetizers quickly and our food was served quickly and hot. The aromas wafting through the air when we first walked in had us salivating with anticipation for what was to come and we definitely were not disappointed. If youre in the mood for mexican dont hesitate come here and enjoy.
Went here for the first time last night. The service was ok, but your standard take your order, bring your food, check on you once and then bring your bill. There was no friendliness or lightheartedness. Maybe she was just having a bad day, though. Then menu is huge and our food was out 5 minutes after we ordered it....never a good sign. I had the fajitas and they were probably the worst fajitas I have ever had. I love corn tortillas, but these were awful. I asked to switch them to the flour tortillas and those were somehow worse. The chicken wasnt seasoned at all and the onions and green peppers were partially burnt black and partially uncooked. When the waitress took our order she asked me if I wanted cheese with the fajitas and I said, sure. When I got the bill I saw that they charged me $1.99 for that cheese.....seriously?! Come on now....thats just absurd. My friend took a few bites of her meal and said that it tasted like frozen food heated up in a microwave. She also tried the margaritas and unfortunately those were very disappointing, too. We wont be back and definitely wont be recommending this place to anyone.
Loved it so much yesterday we came back today. We went yesterday for the first time and we’re very impressed with the food. The chips and salsa was fresh and delightful and the entrees were excellent. I very much would recommend the quesadilla and the tamale. The shining star however, goes to the fried ice cream dessert. It is perfection. We went back today just for dessert and if we didn’t have plans tomorrow we might come back for a 3rd day. This is the bar for ice cream desserts and we can’t wait to come back again!
The last time I ate at Camelias I said it would be the last time. I should have stuck by that . My daughter and I ate there this evening. The service was very slow. I asked about how the cheese was melted on the burrito, the waitress said in the microwave. I asked if it could be melted in the oven and she said they did not have a oven. The food was not very good at all. The prices were reasonable.
Have not been to this new location before, but I like the nee look. The chairs are very comfortable and the layout is easy to get around. The food is great, one of the best Mexican restaurants in the metro area. I could make a meal out of the refried beans and rice alone. The food is fairly priced. The only thing that I knock off a star for was the time it took. We had to wait for 10 min to get a seat. (Not crowd and only people in line).
To the guy complaining about *ALMOST* not being served FIVE MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING, idk what you expect. When a place closes at 9, and youre gonna be there for at least a half an hour, have some respect for the workers and come in earlier. Now for my review::: After having two horrible experiences at the Royal oak Camelias location, I only come here now. The food is always amazing, the service is usually good and the prices are fine. I order the bean burritos and a hard ground beef taco every time. So authentic and so so good!!! This place will have me for life.
Called ahead for a party of 21 for the lunch hour. Only had one server was asked to pass food down to recipients. Utter confusion including getting double billed for one meal. With that said the food was good it just seemed like they are not prepared for parties. The reason I say that is because colleagues from our office also showed up for lunch about 20mins after us. They were able to order eat and leave before all of us got our meals even though we ordered before them.Single to family is a good idea, parties not so much.
TL;DR - Best mexican I have ever hadIf you want the best chips and salads, rice, and beans this place is an absolute must. My parents came from living in California for 23 years and finally found their new go to Mexican restaurant in Camelias. It is the gold standard that I rate all other Mexican by.
My wife and I have been regulars at Camelias for a long time. It is another example Of a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Its close to our home and we go there almost once weekly. Their guacamole is consistently the best in town. Their food is always great. The only drawback is that sometimes the food is a little slow coming out of the kitchen. If youre in a hurry this might not be the place for you.
They have a nice menu, helpful staff, and comfortable interior. The chips were warm and the salsa great. I am a huge molè fan. It was a little sweet for my taste. While the menu said they use dark meat chicken, which would have been preferable, it was served with white meat, which was on the dry side. They advertise homemade tortillas but I am absolutely certain that my corn tortillas were store bought and subpar.
This place is GOOD! First, the service was polite and attentive. Second, the atmosphere with sports on TV as well as the decorations were great. Third, the food was great tasting. I had the carne asada tacos with rice, beans, lettuce. All fantastic. Fourth, the price was solid. Fifth, the chips that came with salsa were really crunchy. Enough salsa was given to fill you up. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for good Mexican food traveling through or living in this area.
My sister and I have gone to Camelias since they first opened on 12 Mile and Orchard Lake. It was delicious. I have been to this new place several times and am so disappointed. Food is cool not hot and the meat is overdone. The service is slow but not horribly so. Salsa is good though. I wont be back.
Awful. Do not eat here. I am currently sitting in the car on Mothers Day with a baby whining in the backseat as my husband waits inside for the food that should have been ready 30 minutes ago. What a waste of time. This isnt the first time weve received awful service.Last time we had bad service it was two years ago when we walked inside, got seated and no server ever came by. After 15 minutes we got up and left. Do not eat here. This is the 3rd encounter weve had with bad service. We keep going back because they actually do have good food and we think it may have been an ocassional bad day for them. Never ever again will we eat here.
I wanted to give this place 1 star but the food was okay and the drinks were good. The reason Im giving them a bad review was the service. I understand that it can get busy and Im not the only customer there, but when it takes 45 min-1hr to just get my card back I do get annoyed. I wish the waitress would have kept us updated thru that waiting time, but it took a long time for her to come back. Probably not coming back.
LOVE Camillias!! The best lunch specials in town. Their chips are always fresh and extra crunchy and food it served hot! We love enchilada Wednesdays. One thing... you should put signage at your old location that you moved. We just happened to see your restaurant while on our way to another place to eat (after we drove up and saw the old location was closed down). So happy we found it! Your new location is GORGEOUS! Keep up the good work!
Very good eating experience. Authentic flavors, huge selection, reasonable prices. Laid back atmosphere, and good service despite being pretty busy. My wife, who is very picky about seafood, had the fish and loved it. My enchiladas Suizas were delicious! The rice was fresh and fluffy, clearly not sitting in a pot for hours getting burnt and crusty. My boys loved their quesadillas and nachos. Were going back again tonight.
Usually love this place but my family and I went there today and were very disappointed. We didnt notice until we got the bill, that ordering a large guacamole is $13.00. They said that they had to raise the price. Alvocados at Aldi down the street had them for $0.39 each just last week. I find it hard to believe that something special is happening in the kitchen to cause such a significant price hike. My family and I are going to take a break from Camelias. Regards
Food was just okay. Salsa and Chips not that great. Chips were very thick and greasy. Almost stale-tasting. Salsa obviously not fresh. Didnt eat either after tasting them. They also lost one star for having no avocados! How can you not make a run to Costco or the Fruit/Veg Market for a few bags of Avocados when half the dishes on your menu call for avocados/guacamole? They lost another star for price/add-ons. Under the $8.99 Lunch Specials they listed the Fajitas....that were $9.99 (noted in small print). But since that was one of the few dishes we could find without avocados/guacamole we ordered it. The waiter returned shortly after he left to place our order, to ask if we wanted cheese with the fajitas. We both said sure thinking that was an odd question if cheese came with the meal. It didnt. AND, we got charged an additional $3 for the VERY SMALL SPRINKLE of cheese they put on top. Then, because the two very-thin tortillas that came with it were not enough to hold the strips of chicken, we asked for another tortilla each. Sure, no problem! THOSE two cost an EXTRA $2.50! Without any drinks at all (we both had water), it was a $30 lunch that was nowhere worth that price. With the numerous restaurants on Orchard Lake that they are competing with, we were very surprised and disappointed with our first visit there.
They have a lunch special that runs until 3PM. Generally two tacos for 8.99 with rice and beans. Does not include cheese.Free Chips and salsa were ok.Service was kind of slow. Had a hard time flagging down a server to get a refill on my drink.I would return to give them another chance in the future.
We were sat immediately. The hostess was not interested in seating us, but our young vibrant and smiley waitress took the initiative and sat us in a very comfortable booth. It felt and looked very authentic. Our server was very impessive with being at our table in moments with the best chips i have ever had. the hot salsa was on point. The soda was very crisp and refreshing, and we never omce ran out of chips salsa, water or pop. our server was amazing. The guacamole was good but was lacking anything to boast about, we felt it needed more lime and more of a kick. The taco entree was very fresh and good but didnt make me want to over eat, nothing special and flavor was bland at best. The shredded beef was also very dry and flavorless, instead of being tender juicy and flavorful. The refried beans and the rice were the best i have ever had at a Mexican restaurant as well as the chips. The vegetable burrito had so much oil on the vegetables we couldnt even dare take a bite. All and all i would definitely come back and i do recommend. However i feel like some small imporvments would make this place one to rave about. All the elements are there and i hope management is able to make these tweaks so that next time we visit and we will, its even better. I gave 4 stars to leave room for improvement. Lime and radish would have also made the tacos so much better. I feel like the restuarant is settling for mediocrity and playing it safe when it comes to authentic mexican food. The one thing i will remember is that we had great service, good chips, refried beans and rice.
Service is spotty -- sometimes decent, often extremely slow. It almost looks like theres no manager. Weve always had good luck with their Royal Oak location, but this one is a pass. Ive also seen them botch carry-out orders too badly to be believed. Portions and food quality are usually OK.
Dont get a trio combination plate. Got one tamale, one burrito and one enchilada. All extremely small and not the least bit stuffed with meat. Got double rice instead of rice and beans- that was as generous as it got. No dollop of sour cream, salsa or guacamole on the plate. Very disappointing. Chicken fajitas were pretty good.
Ive had better Mexican food. The enchiladas were beyond dry; not sure what kind of shredded chicken they used. My daughters fries were also burned completely and chicken tenders were also way too crispy. This place was just....ok. I will stick to my regular Los Amigos or something before coming back here.
Ill echo what seems to be a theme here. Food is good but the service is often lacking. If youre stopping in for lunch, be prepared to spend the full hour. Its not often your food is out or your order is taken in what Id call a highly efficient lunch time mode - at least not for those who have to get back to work. That said, the food has never been bad.
Love the food but will not be back we are currently out for Fathers day with our 70 year old dad That was hesitant to come out but I told them that they would be safe however our waitress has a face mask around her chin talking with her mouth open breathing on them and its so uncomfortable. They should be taking covid 19 a lot more seriously than they are
Meh. First visit. Atmosphere was fun and festive despite being a bit too dark for my liking. Made it hard to read the menu. Chips and salsa were tasty and the 3.99 margaritas were near perfect. Our entrees, the chili verde had little to no heat, the ranchero was flavorless, the tacos de papas con chorizo were mostly potato with dried out sausage bits. Our server was attentive but not friendly. Never saw a manager.
Me and my girlfriend went here today for the first time. I must say its the worst service we ever got! The waitress didnt show up for 30 minutes to take our order, and then when we finally ordered.. It took long time for her to bring our food out to us! And then she never came back to ask if the food was okay... So since it was our first time here, I thought Ill order tacos as there are no pictures on the menu and also that you can never go wrong with tacos.. (I thought..) Let me tell you guys... This was the worst Mexican food Ive ever had in my entire life!!! Tacos were dry and hard to swallow, as it had no type of sauce or anything and the fish was like a piece of wood, and waitress never came back to check if the food was ok and then brought the bill. After sharing my experience with her, She didnt even offer any replacement for food. We ruined our night with bad and very expensive food! Tacos were not cheap either, 13.49 plus tax for 3 gross dry crappy tacos!! Never going back again.
Horrible customer service! Our family went there on Fathers Day 2018. The wait was extremely long, but the restaurant wasnt busy! Not sure what the long wait was all about. The hostess was doing double duty as the bartender and the food was nothing special. We asked for Margaritas with NO salt around the rim. The waitress (we flagged down to service our table) brought the drinks with salt. She kindly took them back and the bartender/hostess simply poured the drinks into another glass, which included the salt! Then she actually LIED about not doing it, when we saw her do it! Not to mention, the salt floating in the drinks. We even had to wait 30 minutes just to pay the check! We were beyond nice and understanding, but well never go back! If youre willing to travel for good Mexican food with good customer service, check out Hidalgo Mexican restaurant Belleville, MI or The Blue Margarita in Woodhaven, MI.
While the food is good, the service is terrible. They should realize that people are in a hurry on their lunch breaks. We waited 10 minutes after being seated before anyone came to check on us. We asked for water and asked if we could also place our order. The food brought to me was not what I ordered. I ended up eating it because again, 10-15 minutes passed before the waitress came to see if everything was ok. I mentioned to her that it was not what I ordered but was eating it anyway since I didnt have time to wait. The person I was with had a worse experience. She ordered steak fajitas. Why they only provide two small tortillas is beyond me. Having ordered this in the past, she asked for one more tortilla. She only got the two that comes with the meal. When the waitress checked on us she asked mentioned she was missing the additional fajita. Another 10 minutes later the waitress finally brought out a new tortilla package and it had three tortillas. Of course, the bill reflected the $2.49 charge for three extra tortillas. We asked her to take part of it off the bill and she would gladly pay for the one. The waitress returned and said the manager would not let her adjust the bill because she ate the other two meaning the two that came with the meal! Well, of course she did. Are we supposed to believe that she would not have been charged extra if she waited 20-30 minutes to get the three-pack and left the two provided alone? Seriously? So, the manager in her greed (is she the owner?) has lost two customers who went quite frequently up until this time, even with the slow service. No more. There are too many restaurants in the area to have to put up with this. We even had to get another waitress to cash us out since our waitress disappeared.
Our food and server (rosa) were both okay, but the bartender could not make a simple Miami Vice- we sent back two drinks back and then had it taken off. The restaurant was empty so we could hear the server explaining to the bartender what we wanted and we could tell she a) had an attitude and b) didnt seem to care if it was made correctly. After we had the drink taken off, the manager didnt even come to check on everything. What sucks about all of this was that the restaurant was that we were excited to come in and were celebrating my birthday and I couldnt even enjoy a very simple drink.
Food was good. Various combo options were available too. Server was very nice, and checked on us several times just in case if we need anything else. Plenty of space was there, with tables & chairs and booth, both the options. I think they had outside sitting option too.
My Wife a friend and I went here for my wifes Birthday dinner and had a horrible experience. First we had to wait for over 10 min. for the waiter to even come get our drink order. Then when my wifes friend and I informed them it was my wifes birthday the waiter said hed get the manager. Several minutes later she came over and was extremely rude and unprofessional in her conduct and said they didnt do that because they were busy. This was on a Saturday night and the restaurant was only half full. What kind of restaurant doesnt sing Happy Birthday or full fill a customers small simple request? I guess one that we will never recommend or visit again!!
The last two times we have been here we waited 1 to 1.5 hours for our food. Both times we had a large group and we came on a weekend but the restaurant was not packed. We used to go once or twice before they moved from 12 mile to orchard lake and we were always happy with everything. But now we are very disappointed that something changed during the transition.
Went during lunch with colleagues. Food wasnt good - my fajita was over cooked and hard (not crunchy, hard). Beans and rice clearly canned/boxed. Other ppl at the table had negative things to say also but Ill just use my perspective. Waitress also seemed like she didnt want to be there and was the opposite of warm and welcoming. Office is around the corner but unfortunately we wont be back.
Service was extremely slow, bordering on nonexistant, and rude. Not only did my friend get the wrong order, but I was charged $2.49 more for three tortillas and $1.50 for a coke. I got water and never ordered coke. I ordered only one tortilla, not three. Manager refused to adjust the bill. This place is disgusting. Will never go back.
Food is average tasting - (no cheese or lettuce for fajitas, who does this?)Ordered Queso and it came with one basket of chips (not full) was charged for a second.Service - I think a white castle with wait staff could do better. (slow, no where to be found when you needed something)
Five adults and one child under five. Our waitress Angela, decided that she should put on 20% for our six people. I would of been ok with 15%, but really, was it because we are Asian????On a brighter note there food is good. Too bad, no return visit for these six people!
Went here for the first time and was told to pick a seat anywhere. Other people came in after us and were served right away, it wasn’t until my friend went and spoke to someone 15 minutes later that we hadn’t been greeted by wait staff that they finally gave us a waiter. The food was good and our waiter was new but very friendly. I probably won’t be going back though
If I could give zero stars I would!!!! Food is good BUT the CUSTOMER SERVICE is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and APPALLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not open a business if you dont know the first thing about treating your customers with care and respect. How about using decent manners??? Common courteous????? I was horrified at the way I was treated. I used to love this place but will never ever go back and they are RACIST!!!!! What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and ESTABLISHMENT. Do not waste your time going here.
For those of you who can’t make it Mexican Towne, Camelias in Farmington is the answer. The food and service were great, our server helped us with all our needs no matter how many. My drinks were super flavorful, I had a peach then a mango and passion fruit mix margaritas. Tell Pipo his best friend sent you and you should be treated like family. I highly suggest this restaurant and will be back soon!
The Tex Mex food was great. Good horchata and carnitas. But, the waitress just didnt care. We were more of an irritant than customers. We can go up to Azteca for the same Tex Mex food where the servers make us feel special and we have a fun time. The decor at Camelias is fun. We should have had a wonderful lunch, but instead it was uncomfortable and we rushed through it.
Horrible service just left went in for a carry out never greeted at the door stood there for at least 5 minutes. So I decided to go to the bar I had to flag down someone for a menu then I was told it would be 45 minutes or more for a carry out because they are too busy for us ... I have been coming to them since they were a little shack in Pontiac so dissatisfied and disappointed with the service. I will not return and will let everyone know...
Food is good but customer service is horrible!!! I wanted to get my money back for food that was not correct TWICE!!! They would not give me my money back. They kept making my order wrong. As a customer you are suppose to satisfy me. They rushed my husband out because they were closing. They always short staff and food take forever. They need to get their staff together and learn how customer service
SLOW SLOW SLOW service!!!!!!OVERPRICED tap beer!!They Automatically added 20% tip to our family of six (four kids), without any notification, which we refused to give. (We Do give at least 20% always, when good service).Spend your money elsewhere, that has good services and good prices, and where management doesn’t make up any gratuity amount they feel, without telling you ahead of time.
Walked in at noon and was not greeted by the two workers at the front. After saying just one they still just looked at me. As if to say, ok, and? So I said I need a table, then theyre like oh you can sit w/e you like! So maybe greet the customer and lead with that next time.
Manager is rude, false information in website. Carne asada tacos show $15.89 on website when I called to order price was automatically changed. (Higher) Manager did not even have the courtesy to match the price. Bad business, does not even deserve 1 star for rudness.
This restaurant is very bad and for the chefs who work here. the owner should call company to come in fix the Exhaust Fan should fix it as soon as possible because that can cause cancer or sick for the employees. I have been coming here dinner with my family for days and months they still do not fix it I suggest to the health department to come and inspect this restaurant

2022-03-10Salsa has a nice cilantro taste! Chips were warm. Unfortunately they charge $2.50 for chips/salsa. Food was excellent! Puffy taco, chalupas, enchiladas beans rice were all very tasty. If you like Mexican a must try. Only downside is a tad expensive otherwise wouldve been five stars.

2021-12-28Had take out, ordered pulled beef burrito, chicken enchilada, cheese/chicken quesadilla and beef flautas. It was ok, typical homogenized Michigan Mexican. The beans tasted and looked like they were from a can but the rice good. The pulled chicken in the quesadilla and enchilada was dry and had basic seasoning. It just was a lacking something to bring it together. The beef burrito was much better, I had it with the mole sauce. The beef was seasoned much better than the chicken but still just nothing special. The staff was nice and the inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely. Maybe eating it there would be better but I’ve had a few these types of Mexican here in Michigan, they all taste the same. They play it safe and keep the same basic recipes in order to please the clientele.

2021-10-02So this is my first time coming here for lunch. First off let me say due to the pandemic I understand if theyre short help and that a lot of people arent going out to eat as much. But we need to support independent businesses more than ever especially salons and restaurants! Our waiter was the only person there serving people and the bartender was backing him up. The food was Immaculate and my drink was so strong I had to dilute it a little bit LOL Other than that the only thing I would switch up is maybe lighten the place up a little bit. It was very dark and dim in there. Overall I definitely would come back here again and I hope that there are more people when I do. I would love to take my wife here for dinner sometime.

2022-04-09The food is delicious and the Mexican hot chocolate is definitely worth the wait. The fried ice cream was a nice way to wrap up a good meal.

2022-05-06A friend suggested that these are the best fajitas, and I have to agree. Had the trio steak shrimp and chicken and was very impressed the meats were cooked to perfection outside edges were crisp with inside still moist and delicious. I normally avoid fajitas because theyre so often overcooked but this was perfect. Really looking forward to the leftovers, the portion was well worth the price we split it and have leftovers. Well that may be partially due to the salsa and queso being delicious too.

2022-05-12The food was really good, we ordered a botana to start with which was delicious. I had the rib eye tacos and they were great. The margarita I ordered was just okay, it too sweet for a regular lime flavor though.I will eat here again though as this was much better then most Mexican restaurants in the area.

2021-08-28Great Mexican food. Very casual and traditional Mexican American but good taste. Needs to improve in service but I guess they are lacking staff due to this difficult time with Covid.

2022-05-05Terrible experience!!! Horrible service! Dining with kids that took nearly 20 minutes to get refills. Chip refills never came. Food was below average. Way over priced!!! And they added a $20 tip automatically. Ill never return and I strongly recommend you never attend. Plus, no kids menu.
