I had my stereo replaced as well as my windows tinted. Overall it was a great experience. The price was reasonable and my car was done exactly when they said it would be. The stereo recommendation made was exactly what I was looking for and the tint turned out better than expected. I would highly recommend this location.
A local shop in Detroit turned what i thought was going to be a great experience with brand new speakers a horrible one. I was pretty upset at the money that was wasted. I went in and talked to John. After we sat in my car and shared a laugh he told me exactly what we could do to make it right. I ended up adding a sub to my system and bringing it to them to install. They relocated my new speakers where they originally should have been, installed my sub, fixed my wiring and tuned my system. I am so happy with how everything turned out. It sounds incredible! The guys did great work. Will be going back in the future.
They installed a remote starter and stereo system in December 2018. Ive had 2 issues since, one caused by user error another by conflicting electrical signals from the 1998 vehicle. Both repairs went smoothly and quickly. Were ready to have a similar system upgrade to our 2005 vehicle.
Went to have alarm module exchanged and was told no one could wait because of Covid. Not a problem with that. The problem was when I returned before my car was ready, a lady was waiting for her vehicle inside. I waited 10 minutes more for my car and I addressed the situation and told them if your gonna have no one wait for their vehicles make sure no one is inside. Or is it because of color. Of course he tried to down play the situation saying she’s waiting on a ride, yeah she’s waiting on her vehicle to be completed. I will not do business with this place again!
Ive had mixed results from decent work to completely incompetent techs that insisted there was no battery draw even when the battery was dead when I picked up vehicle (there was a draw due to bad remote turn on), while it wasnt worth my time, I disputed the related charges with my credit card company based on principle alone. Recently (since COVID) they seem to treat customers as a nuisance they would prefer not to deal with: Refusing to make appointments over the phone even if you offer a credit card deposit. And I spend thousands a year (plus 10K to 20K in every new car I get). If this is how they treat a customer worth that much, how terrible must they treat an average guy or gal?Im not seeing an option to add a response, so Im editing this instead: In 2017 I sought to have CarTunes install a $20,000 aftermarket stereo in my new truck, and I got flaky attitude from the sales rep. I did end up purchasing 2 Kicker 15 L7s ($1,000) from your Berkeley store, so Im surprised that would not be in your records. Later on, I also had some work done on that truck (repair on disconnected A-pillar tweeter) which was fixed properly, but I had also requested that the tech secure the other side as well, which he failed to do (as it came loose shortly thereafter). That install was done by Buzz-Off (Troy) which was a disaster: beyond going over-schedule, over-budget and literally falsifying records to avoid refunding me $7,000 for a supercharger that they could not acquire, they improperly routed a power wire under the hood that caused a massive fire in the engine compartment. More recently when I sought a minor repair (at CarTunes), I was unable to make an appointment over the phone and I found someone I could pay to come to me instead.
I took a truck to car tunes to get a radio installed. I talked with Nick who gave me a good price for a radio install. The job was done ontime and for the price that he quoted. Now the good part. The door locks did not work and he noticed this when he did the radio. He called up and advised that he knew where the problem was and could fix it. Nick fixed it and everything is just like new. It is not often that you take your vehicle to a shop and they go ABOVE AND BEYOND what they should to make a customer happy. I would recommend all work to Cartunes in Berkley. Great job Nick and Crew!
I lost the fob to my car while my alarm was activated so the car locked up. I had them deactivate the alarm to unlock my car. While they were deactivating the alarm they carelessly plucked my brake switch without consulting causing the gears to permanently lock up until I could buy a new switch. When I tried to explain to him the incompetence to the gentlemen handling the situating he did not even try to listen to me and got really defensive. Very untrustworthy and incompetent.
These guys are great. Hands down period. Helped me along the way. Listened to me and addressed my questions. Went above and beyond. Yes couldve went to a big box place for cheaper price but not better service. I am big on customer service and these guys provided just that. Will be going back when I need any mobile audio equipment.
Worst experience ever!!!!!!!!! First they lied and said I needed a custom installation and was going to cost more money than the sale, (which I did not ) then I had issues with the radio cutting in/out, took it back up there and they said it was something else that would cost more money. Has not went out since. They left there Snap-on tool in my vehicle when checking the stereo , I drove all the way back up to the store to return it and at that time asked about maybe upgrading the radio due to the performance of the one I purchased. The sales person said no problem and I made an appointment. Returned for my appointment and they tried over charging me again. I left and called the main office and spoke with the owner who was very understanding at first..... promised to take care of me and would call me later that day. I Never got any phone call from anyone working for care tunes. I called back the next day and the owner actually yelled and cursed me out and said he didnt care if I wrote a bad review. So bottom line is they really dont care about the customers and only care about up charging and ripping the customer off. Take your money somewhere else!!!!
Very disappointed in the service I got last time. I got an auto starter installed last year. I lost my remote and went to BUY another remote recently. While there, one co-worker told another coworker that the remote he had his hand was brought in by somebody else and dont work anymore and that he was just going to change the batteries and give it to me. I asked him about what I heard and he said no anytime anyone come in, it should be a new one. Now, here I am with a remote that doesnt work after maybe 3rd time using it. If he did what he was supposed to do and what he told me he was going to do, I wouldnt have to drive 25 mins away from the city that I live and work in.Im here now, they tried to change the battery again, then admitted they dont have any more of the type I got. So they are now pulling out a remote from a whole starter kit AS THEY SHOULD OF THE FIRST TIME, SINCE THEY RAN OUT. SMH.
Poor customer satisfaction service was terrible. They did not contact me after they said they would , n try to have me make an appointment trying to charge me cause the guy couldnt get the remote control to work with my car , so I took them n left n I had to do it myself which took me less than 10 minutes to figure out to d time I finished.
2005 Lincoln LS V8 Ultimate with factory navigation THX. Car Tunes installed a Pioneer 2500-NEX system replacing the factory THX Pioneer system. They retained all factory steering wheel controls, they installed a backup camera with dynamic grid lines, and the complete job was accomplished in a couple of hours. The entire system performs fantastic and even though the sound quality was excellent previously, its even better now. They retained all of the factory speakers; however, the 2 rear shelf factory speakers were replaced (due to age deterioration) with genuine factory THX speakers. This system completely upgraded this vehicle: BT, HD, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, backup camera, and better SiriusXM functionality vs the factory Sirius system. These technicians are top notch.
These guys are the Best! My review/comment isnt product related its personal experience rated.I had dropped my wallet (credit cards cash ID etd...) In the parking lot and Nick tracked me down at my address and returned it intact!I offered to give him the cash, he declined. This is over the Top. The kindness he displayed deserves a major kudos! Went there today, had them throw in the remote starter, and decided on some speakers while I was waiting. I waited there the whole time and saw a lot of transactions. The customer service was awesome with everybody. They were super-friendly. If I ever need anything they can do or sell, thats where Ill be going without a doubt.
I really dont understand why this place is rated only 2.8 out of 5. Every time I come here , they do such a great job on what I ask for and give me a great price as well. Great employees and a very good company. Awesome customer service. Definitely come by here and they do such a great job on tints and at such a good price.
20 years ago and this was the place to go for car audio and aftermarket accessories. They still have a showroom which is almost identical to what it was back when they first opened except for the new computerized component selector. The old button system had a way where you could go in and experience each unit and speaker combination. The new system is hopeless. They rely on sales tactics to sell you over priced stuff. We used to go in and buy quality products and had more selection. Today one might as well go online which is sad if you ask me. The worst part or my experience was realizing the rear view camera price was inflated 400%.
I have not and will not let anyone else work on my vehicles. Ive been coming here for years and these people are very professional. They stand behind their products and their work. If something needed a fix even months or years after they installed it, they were quick to fix it and often at no charge.
I read the reviews before I went here. reviews were not that great still decided to go. I thought this place was great went in to buy my wife a remote car start and radio. i arrived at 9am didnt have an appointment but the guy said he would have it done by the end of the day 8pm...car was complete by 330 couldnt ask for better service. they are booked on appointments till feb. they do what they can to squeeze people in. be patient and dont be a pain in the a** and they will probably pull some strings to get it done. quality of install is top notch. thanks cartunes.
Have to give them 5 stars for a couple reasons. 1. The quality and speed of the service was incredible, took them two hours to install a subwoofer and amp with all other necessary parts in my car. 2. Price was the main factor in my sound system and I could not be more happy with what I got. 3. The quality of the sound system has my friends wanting to get speakers in their car as well, for the minimal amount of rms I am pushing through my speaker it definilty feels like more. If you are into bass I recommend the Alpine Type-R 12”. Had it for a few months and I cannot complain.
Terrible customer service. We brought our car there at 9 a.m. when they opened for a remote starter. We were told it would take 2 1/2 to 3 hours. At 1:30 p.m. we hadnt heard anything so we called for an update and were told our car was next. We called back at 4:30 p.m. and the car had not been started. We picked the car up at 5. They could care less that our car sat there all day for nothing. Dont waste your time with this place.
I have nothing bad to say about car tunes at all. They put in a remote starter kit and a GPS tracker on my car for me and every time I have had a problem with the GPS tracker or the app for it, they have helped me out no questions asked. If you ask me my opinion the money was worth it especially after my vehicle had just been stolen once the day before by my own sister just so that she could go on the biggest drug binge ever. And I got to say that I was about to go to Mickey Shorr until I heard about Mickey Shorrs business practices when it came to warranty issues. That said everything for me. Im also now a loyal customer for life thanks to how they have treated me which isnt like a number, but more of a friend. They have a customer out of me for life. And they are ordering me a special faceplate for my stereo that I am about to install as well just in time for my birthday. And I may just get my windows tinted while I am at it as well Thursday.
I took my vehicle here and was quoted a price to install 2 touch screens in my dashboard. In the end they did a beautiful job and came back telling me that the cost was less then I was originally quoted. I will bring any vehicle that I own that needs stereo equipment to this facility.
Messed up my airing after installing my car starter. It needs to be fixed after any fuses blow, or battery being disconnected. Blew out my whole fuse box after a jump start. Just not compatible with my does vehicle. My brother has no issues. Trying to resolve my issues, but created an electrical questionability of not feeling safe in my car now. 😐
I had Excalibur alarm system put in 2017 JEEP according to Nates (mgr.) suggestion back in August 2017. the vehicle had been stolen after having car for 2 1/2 weeks back in June 2017. It took almost two months to have stolen wheels replaced. Immediately my vehicle started having intermittent malfunctions such as stalling while driving on 70 mph freeway, not starting at all, certain systems of vehicle not working properly if at all, i.e., couldnt turn vehicle off. From August to January I was back and forth between the new car dealerships (to identify problem(s)) and Berkeley Car Tunes when it was faulty car alarm all along. During these months of being uncertain about my safety while driving, I didnt have my vehicle for a total of one week because I was told by cartoons that my alarm WAS NOT causing malfunctions therefore, the dealerships were wasting their time trying to find cause of malfunctions. JEEP WAVE provided rental cars (which costs money), I had to call roadside assistance four times for a vehicle less than one yr. old (which is not free), and not to mention my stalling in center lane on freeway back in November 2017 COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL! I finally drove without alarm for 1 month (praying no vandalism would occur) and had JEEP diagnostic service again and got same report back; there is absolutely no malfunctions or mechanical failure found. Really wanting refund, I was patient with this cartunes store in trying to work out any problems. Nate the mgr. stated an updated system will replace system I paid $636.00 for. Giving benefit of doubt I tried this newly updated system and once again on January 31, 2018. I began experiencing malfunctions immediately, AGAIN! Parked vehicle and used Uber (which was not free). Next day on my way back to cartoons again! vehicle began putt-putting as if it were about to stall out AGAIN! Nate was not available so I spoke with...dont know his name. I was told to use factory remote to start car and that the Excalibur remote starter had been removed, drive vehicle for a few days and see what happens. Use Excalibur remote to lock/arm alarm system. I asked Will I still have my alarm? This guy looked me in the eyes and said Yes My alarm function would not be affected at all. Then he grabbed the remotes (2 Excalibur and 1 factory) and jumped in my vehicle doing what? I do not know. It was preposterous to have 3 remotes for one vehicle especially for the prices I paid but, I used the remotes as instructed, always hitting alarm button and listening out for the chirps confirming that vehicle was armed. February 9, 2018, two days before I would return to car tunes to get a all in one remote (?) hopefully, my JEEP was broken into, factory installed radio panel stolen and alarm didnt make a sound. I called cartoons immediately after calling police to make report. Informed Nate of what happened, first thing I was asked is Whats displayed on remote? I stated, Valet his response was Valet means there is no alarm.... whatever else was said I did not hear because I was livid! I calmly told him that I will return with my car when repairs are finished. Picked up vehicle on February 22, 2018. TotaI costs: $3,243.50. Ispoke with the representative (not Nate) informing him of all that took place which Im sure he had knowledge of. I was told Total cost of repair: $2,227.74 deductible paid: $500.00 rental fee with insurance discount: $515.76. I returned on February 22, 2018, informing rep. of all that had happened after he told me My alarm function would not be affected at all He nonchalantly said ...come back next week Monday or Tuesday. So by this time Im irate, Im not leaving until either you give me a refund or a different alarm! He said they were busy, come back next week....I said Well someone has work overtime. He says hold on and goes into service area, comes back saying same thing, next week. Dont know what he ran outside with remotes to do but he removed Valet mode. Will be continued.
Cartoons handles the car audio for my company Vehicles as well as my personal ones. I had a really bad experience with the former manager at this location because they did damage to my car and then try to avoid getting it fixed however I recently went up there to find that there was a new manager working and this person turned all my wrongs into rights period and very happy with the new leadership over there period I was really ready to call it quits after the former manager did damage to my Ferrari and did not inform me but rather blamed it on a pre-existing condition comma this newer manager owned up to the responsibility got it taken care of and even though we had a couple hiccups along the way they really went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy and for that I believe they are worthy of anybodys business. The only reason I gave it a 4-star instead of 5 overall was because of my previous experience that really put a bad taste in my mouth however I believe with the new leadership this place will be a five-star location in no time
I had to laugh at the way this business is being run. It appears that youre only allowed to work there if you have a strange tattoo and a poor command of the English language. They have been advertising automated car starters at a specific price on their marquee for quite some time. The person I spoke with gave me some attitude and told me itd be double that price. There was more of the same upon a second try, but Ill effectively be staying away from this place and going elsewhere.
CarTunes Berkley recently installed a car stereo, speakers and amp in my BMW 3-series. The install went PERFECT. The focal speakers sound great. The craftsmanship was also worth noting......the amps were mounted beautifully in my spare tire compartment. Overall, the experience was great....it looks and sounds great. Will always take my cars here. Talk to Ryan. He covers all the details and makes sure you know what youre getting.
I walk in with a Groupon for a car starter... he stated I had to pay more. The Groupon stated in detail I can get a 116.00 starter valued at 300$.. was not warm with men and told me the Groupon was to get me in the door.. and Groupon will not refund us for their dishonesty.
I called them in advance to see how long it would take them to install my sounds system and see if I need an appointment. they said it would take few hours and no app needed. I went there on Friday before 12pm gave my car they said 2-3 hours. after 4 hours waiting I called them they said they should have it done by the end of the day which is 8pm. they called me at 750pm!!! who calls the last minute on FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! people need their cars! I still dont have my car so cant say anything about equipment and instalation but their customer service is horrible.
Got my windows tinted here in May of 2016 and I got 20% around and thought now in August I want it darker so I called them up and they told me we have no openings then decide to call buzz off automotive and they had an opening so I took my car to buzz off and they told me right off the back my windows were turning purple in 2 1/2 months so dont buy from car tunes they are a rip off for the price and buzz off uses the same film go to buzz off automotive much better service and better tint quality
So i come here to get some work done on my truck... I was chewing tobacco and left my spit cup in the cup holder which is above where the man had to work... didnt really need him flipping out and cussing when he could have politely asked me to remove the cup... it was my mistake but damn....
This place is impressive. I’ve done work with the JBL/Infiniity/HK/Levinson auto group as well as Jeep, and the radio installation from Car Tunes is better than anything i’ve seen the manufacturers do.these guys are experts; they are well-priced, highly knowledgeable, prompt and precise. they answered every one of my questions, and then brought up things i had not thought to consider.skip the box stores and head to woodward and 11 mile — you won’t be disappointed!

2022-03-192018 Jeep Wrangler JL. Replaced all 6 factory speakers. Added a sub and Amp. Nick at the Berkeley location was excellent. Communicated timeline throughout the install and was prepared for my appointment. Delivered quality workmanship with no visible damage. As stated it is louder than hell and pure quality. Very pleased.

2020-10-04I have to say that I have a 2011 Nissan Altima. To put things in perspective, I bought the car 2012 with almost 40k mileage. I got a great deal on the vehicle. Fast forward to the summer of 2019; I gave 68k in miles, and I have to take my car in for repair. They give me a loaner, and it has a car play and a rearview camera. I had no idea that I needed both lol. I found out that you could get both aftermarket.I do not recall why I came here, but they were great. They were very knowledgeable, and I feel like they recommended all the right things.I ended up replacing my radio and my speakers.I am delighted with my install. It looks like it was from the factory.

2021-09-06Nick the manager is a great guy so far Im really happy with the service. Im on my second radio install. On these newer cars its a big deal to put in a modern radio. Both managers are real decent and fair. I also had them install a remote start on the wifes cars 5 years later still works perfectly. Both locations are excellent.
