Ordered the manicotti (to go). I got the combo (one meat and one cheese) it’s AMAZING! And it comes with a HUGE piece of bread. I added cheese to the bread, which is a definite MUST, they do not skimp on the cheese. I don’t often leave reviews, but I am so impressed that I just had to! 🤤
I had a lunch portion (its large) of spaghetti w/meatballs, fabulous Italian flavor not too spicy and came out hot. Starter salad w housemade Italian dressing - crisp cool greens. Service was friendly, helpful and spot on. I would drive out of my way to eat here. Looks like they have a popular take out side as well.
Nope, not doing it again. Service is always extremely slow for some reason or another the waitress gives us. Tonight after 40 minutes of waiting they brought the wrong pizza. When we brought it to the it attention (mind you still no plates to eat it on) we were posed the question what would you like us to do?. Really?? 20 minutes later had the right pizza but never saw the waitress again until the check. So we had to ask for a box. Over 1 1/2 hours for pizza and a beer. Well at least we received compensation right? BIG FAT NOPE. Guess customer service isnt part of this restaurants culture. Never again.
Oh Carmelos... after reading the reviews and looking at pictures of what appeared to be an amazing pizza, I decided to try them.Sadly, this pizza was anything but amazing. It was not the worst pizza I have ever eaten, but not the best by far. And trust me, I have devoured a great many number of pizzas around the area.I picked up the pizza right as they were finishing making it, but by the time I got it home (which was no more than 7-10 minutes later) the pizza was cold!As far as the taste... there was not much. I dont know if they messed up my order, but there was not much sauce on the pizza. What sauce there was had very little taste and the dough seemed a bit old. The only thing that sort of saved this pizza is that they do put on a fair amount of toppings (I had pepperoni, italian sausage, and bacon).I also ordered their breadsticks. Honestly, I could care less if I ever ordered them again. They are supposed to have garlic topped with a cheese blend. Again, the dough tasted old and there just was not much flavor. There was perhaps a trace amount of garlic at best and the cheese was bland. On top of that, the breadsticks were cold as well.Maybe I went on a bad day. Perhaps if I tried them again I would get a different result. But unfortunately, first impressions usually determine if I return. I give every place I review a fair shake and will not lie about my experiences. I hope that other customers have better experiences than I did.
New to Caledonia area and finally managed to get to Carmelos after many people recommended it. Wow- first pizza was great. Nice small restaurant are is clean and people are very polite. We went back later that week to try the wet burritos. Excellent! This is our new place to go for quick dine in, pick up and delivery.
I certainly was not a valued customer. And will resolve this by not being a customer anymore. Its the best pizza Ive had outside of NY so Ill give 2 stars. But, it took over an hour for them to even start to put it in the oven!! 1.5 hours wait. Thanks, but no thanks. Its not 1.5 hours good.Once repeat customers, NOT repeating anymore.
We had a buy one get one free coupon so we decided to check this place out. Most everything they make is their own recipe. My husband had the seafood ravioli and I had the lasagna. The lasagna was definitely one of the best I have ever had at any restaurant and he loved the seafood ravioli! We had mini canolis for dessert and they were excellent. I have no doubt that we would probably like just about anything there. They have pizza, wings, wet burritos, lots of good food and the service was excellent!
Great tasting pizza! Have quite the extensive menu: baked subs, lasagna, strombolis, American & Mexican fare, as well as Italian walk up area, for to go orders, as well as a restaurant area for sit down meals. Dont let the small size of the restaurant fool you! Will go again! 😀
A nice little local restaurant to get delicious pizza, among other good food. The prices are fair and the pizza I had, BBQ, was very good. They have a few other pizzas you can try, also, and the size is very fair.Would highly recommend this place if stopping by in Caledonia.
Food was mediocre at best. Gnats flying all over our food. Took 30 minutes to get our appetizer, there was only us and another elderly couple.. whom they ripped off. The elderly couple had a coupon for buy 1 get 1, and they wouldnt accept it. The elderly womans response was i dont know if we have enough then. They ended up taking everything she had. We ordered taco pizza they charged us for sour cream, and the beans. They also charged us for ranch for our cheese stick app. The place tryst to give the allure of fine Italian dining but the food and service remind you of a biker bar. For Christ sakes we waited for ten minutes or more just for ranch and sour cream and there was only one other table! What a joke. Wont be going back.
Amazing homemade food at a reasonable price. All sauces are made in-house (alfredo, pizza, spaghetti, burrito, hot sauce) and are excellent. It is family-owned by some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Did I mention the homemade sausage? Its like halloween candy for adults!
Called them from outside the building at 10:30pm on a Saturday because the door was locked, even though the sign clearly says they are open until 11pm (and the open light was on) and the kid inside just looked at the ringing phone and my dad telling him to answer the phone. Then he walked out of sight and continued to ignore the call. Ridiculous. Id love to say the food was good, but I guess Ill never know.
Best little down home pizza/Italian restaurant in Kentwood! Was not expecting this level of quality from a quiet little hole-in the-wall Italian restaurant! Carmelos does NOT skimp on the toppings and their breadsticks are cheesy bliss! If youre still hungry afterwards get a taste of their fantastic Cannolis! These cannolis will make your teeth rattle with delight!
There is SOO much good food here its hard to pick a favorite!! Not just pizza either! All homemade Sicilian family recipes. Everything from homemade manicotti, lasagna, pizza, subs; plus all of the sauces are homemade, including the sausage, taco meat, chicken and meatballs!! The owners are born and raised in Sicily, Italy and since its their family that works there, you can expect to be treated just like family! The dining room is elegant, great for parties, and they serve beer and wine by the bottles. You wont regret coming here, ordering take out, or getting delivery. Try it out and youll see!
Ordered a simple cheese pizza and I got a pizza with bacon on it, paid for it over the phone. Cant eat Bacon due to religious reasons so there is no reason why I would ever order that. They did not want to remake my pizza for me, definitely will NEVER go back here again, nor will family/friends.
The pizza is great, and I recommend the Carmelos special. Real slices of tomato and sausage that is the best that I have ever had. I always order it, and guests at our table always love it. Also the pasta with the sausage pasta sauce is wonderful. I understand that it is home made. Carmelo and his wife are from Sicily so the pizza is authentic. I only order pizza from Carmelos. Oh, and brock liby is a fake. I looked into the poster as it did not look legit about this place. brock liby has never reviewed more likely a bunch of teens getting a good prank on.
Work is put into food preparation and the food is high quality. But,,,,,,, Italians are known for healthy portions,, this is obviously is misconception because the menu failed to mention the Ricotta Crostini cheeze bread for 5.99 only contains 4 bread boats. Other then that the food is always great! But you should prepare yourself for that heffty bill.
My children held an 80th Birthday Party for me Saturday Sept.23th at Carmelos with 60 friends and relatives, the servce was excellant and the pizza and salads were delightful, the salads were very fresh and the dressings delicious, the cannoles were the best Iv every had and I have had many..Thank you Carmelos for a delightful party.

2022-01-16Carmelos always has excellent Italian food. The reason for the 4 stars is that the prices seem to be higher than some of the other good Italian restaurants nearby. Otherwise, Carmelos has great food and service (take-out and dine-in).

2021-12-30We ordered 4 pizzas for a family gathering and really enjoyed these flavor-packed pies. The wings were ok. Go for the Carmelo special pizza - we’ll be back again.

2021-03-03I had to find another locally owned pizza joint, and Im glad I found this place. The crust isnt too thick and doughy, they have the right amount of a tasty sauce, and the toppings are really good. The service is polite and patient. I like it done right, and this place does pizza right.
