Mike was great. He was responsive, professional and very knowledgeable. He explained everything he was doing and why. When I asked about potential future issues with my floor drains/sewers, he gave me reasonable scenarios to keep in mind and general expectations for future repairs. Id highly recommend this company. They do great work. If their pricing is higher than some other estimates, I do believe you get what you pay for. Ill be using them again in the future.
We had a great experience with Columbus. His professionalism and ability to be personable made our decision to use Carters. We truly value customer service. They respected our home, cleaned up their mess, and did a great job! We would be happy to have him come back out in the future to assist with upcoming improvements.

Everyone from Carters from the appointment call to the actual repair was extremely pleasant to deal with. Recommended.
We had a wonderful experience with Carter’s Plumbing. Derek was extremely professional, and kind. He took his time diagnosing the issue with our sewer. On the day of repairs, the crew was on time, professional, and completed the repairs earlier than expected. Before leaving, Derek showed me the before and after images, also explained any estimate deviations. Derek made dealing with a frustrating situation much easier. I would recommend Carter’s for all plumbing needs.
Timely, courteous and knowledgeable! Definitely recommend! Our technician, Derrick was great!Update: technician still nice, but I found a small leak almost immediately (10 minutes) after the under sink plumbing job was done, technician wasn’t available same day. When they returned the leak was attributed to the drain pop up assembly which was an existing fixture. It was $180 to fix the leak! We spent over $1200 and feel it never should have leaked if the job were done properly. Sadly, we won’t be using Carter’s plumbing again.
I called Carters Plumbing to take care of a plugged drain in a car wash. The Tech they sent out said they had to snake the drain, then camera and locate. After doing this the Tech called back to say He did not clear the line. I asked him if the car wash tank was full and he said yes it was. I then asked why he did not state that the first time I talked to him? He said he doesnt know why he did not tell me that. If he had told me that I would have known the tank needed pumped out not snaked. The Tech also knew that the tank needed pumped out. He then said that he does not know why he didnt tell me that at the beginning of the conversation. OBVIOUSLY because he was trying to make extra money for a job that did not need to be done.I called the office and she said she WOULD NOT charge my card for 915.17 and would have Management call me tomorrow because I refused to pay for something that did not need to be done. Literally 2 minutes after hanging up the phone she charged my card 915.17 I tried calling her back and she sent all of my calls to voicemail. I will DEFINITELY be disputing this charge on my card!!!!

Top notch company that is very reliable, punctual, and priced. We have used them several times and have never been disappointed for any reason. Both times we had someone come to our home, once because we requested him, Columbus did our repairs, would highly recommend him to anyone.

I used Carters to install a water service line and added a water softener. Marcus and company did quality work and the people in the office were responsive and helpful. The price was high, but a lower quote didnt come in until after work began so I decided to bite the bullet and get it done.

We just had 2 washer supply faucets replaced and are very satisfied with the work that Sean completed for us. The entire process (from initial contact, to the completed installation) was very easy, and the service timeframe was outstanding! I had them come out to give me a quote, they quoted $5,000 for a job thats literally $150 in parts and 5hrs labor for one person. When I asked for the breakdown of cost, I was told they needed 3 people and to bring an excavator to dig. I found an alternative that did the job for about $800, 2 men in their 50s hand dug and fixed in 2.5hrs without bringing any machinery. I absolutely would not recommend Carters not even if you won the lottery and didnt know what to do with your money.
Masked up and vaccinated! Super important when having a stranger inside our home with older parents and health issues. Sean was personable, knowledgeable, and respectful. Last night I discovered a leak from the old galvanized pipe in the basement from the kitchen sink. It was a topper to the past rotten two weeks. I called Carters and spoke with Alexandria she was understanding and let me ramble my frustrations with a bit of humor and unclear thinking before morning coffee and breakfast. They had a cancellation and were at my home within a half hour! Bad pipe removed and fixed with explanation and visual. It wasnt urgent but it was an annoying leak. Glad its done! One less stress for today.Surprisingly none of my friends in the area actually had a plumber in their phone! They will now. Carters plumbing with a tech request for Sean.Thanks Again!PS. Being located on Orchard Lake road in Sylvan lake / Keego Harbor was important for me. Local businesses are a communities lifeblood.
I’ve owned 4 homes & have never met a professional like Columbus from Carter’s Plumbing. He was on time and kept me up to date on his arrival. He quickly identified the problem and its source and recommended solutions which I was able to understand. I would use Carter’s again, and would absolutely ask for Columbus.

Do not use this company at all! Came to install two toilets. They broke the toilet flange on the master bathroom and caused a leak to the basement. He then asked me to pay to fix the toilet flange that he broke. Completely unacceptable and despicable! I don’t know how they have so many positive reviews but they clearly are fake reviews! They don’t know how to do this job in this profession! If your going to go with a company I suggest you don’t just read the reviews but also see how long they’ve been in business and keep researching to find a reputable company!

Two of my toilets kept leaking water after flushing the toilets. Derek from Carter Plumbing came, took a look at the problem and made the right diagnosis. He went out, got and installed the right parts. And the problem was resolved with one year warranty. Now my toilets are flushing like new. I am all praises for a job well done. I had them come out twice now. Once for a toilet install and once to fix a broken ptrap. The prices are a little high but not bad compared to others. They did an excellent job both times and the two plumbers they sent out have both been very friendly and professional.

Did urgent repair of failing sump pump on short notice. Technician Jake quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the failed pump. First, Carters Plumbing is one of the few plumbing companies in the area that have friendly and professional reception staff. They were very clear on how their pricing is structured. I also appreciated how they were understanding about servicing during COVID-19, wearing masks and foot covering (other companies I asked about this seemed annoyed by the inquiry). The plumber who came was knowledgeable about the issue and made recommendations and fixed what was needed. Im glad I went with this company.

This is the second time we’ve had Derrick from Carter’s Plumbing. He has installed a kitchen faucet and fixed two toilets. His repairs fixed the problems and have continued to work. He is friendly and professional. I will specifically ask for him again for future plumbing issues.
Discovered our water heater died about 1:30A today. Called about 9:00A, got scheduled and the replacement installation was complete by 1:20P. Im very happy with everything!
I called on a Friday with a plumbing problem that needed to be dealt with in an expedient manner. Eric came out on Sunday and took care of the problem without a hitch. Job was done professionally and in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend this company with highest marks!
Carter’s was great to work with. They arrived a little earlier than expected which was great, and were able to resolve our issue quickly and effectively. They obviously know their stuff, and we’re able to help us understand the issue as well which was much appreciated.

I’ve used Carter’s twice this year and both times they did not resolve my issues. The first time they came out was for a frozen pipe. I only paid for the estimate, but they turned off the water pipes without informing me. To fix the issue, it would have costed $700 and destroying my kitchen cabinet. The second time, we called them to unclog a drain. We paid $350, and my drain is still clogged.

Appointment was booked between 12-5pm. Got a call at 9am saying my technician was on the way. Price quote was completely inaccurate. While booking the appointment I was told it would be 50$ for the technician to come out - and this would likely cover the cost of the repair/parts as well. Within 3 minutes of the technician being at my house I was told it would be 340$ to replace a piece of my shower handle to keep it from dripping. Insanity. The technician shut off our water, grabbed a part from his truck, and took my shower handle off - by this time I told him to hold on as we may just pay the 50$ and send him on his way without doing the repair it had been less than 5 minutes and he was saying that would be fine but he would have to charge us 180$ for a diagnostic (or something in that ballpark) because he was almost finished with the job??????????? How?? about 20 minutes go by, and hes going up and downstairs to the water breaker and back to my bathroom - leaving all doors open behind him - clearly having some sort of issue - he comes and says the part he has must be defective and he needed go get a new part - left for about 30 minutes and returned - and eventually fixed the leak. Im confused why he made it sound like he was almost finished and would have to charge 180$ for a diagnostic since he had already taken it apart but it ended up taking him 2 hours after that? Feel like he took advantage of me not knowing any better. When he finished the repair I went and looked at it and he put my shower handle back on facing the wrong direction - I asked if that was how it was when he came and he said no probably not - asked him to fix it and put it back how it was and he said he couldnt and thats how it was supposed to be. Yes the leak is fixed, but to be honest I was less than satisfied with the service I received as it didnt seem quality. He didnt do a great job at explaining the issue, was not accommodating to the thought of possibly declining the repair and just paying for the call and rushed me to make a decision, and lastly was unwilling to put my shower handle back on the way it has faced for the last 25 years lol. 2 stars only because the leak is fixed otherwise it would be 1 star for all of the other factors.
Mike and his assistant were very hard workers. They replaced my existing sump pump with a new system.They were very professional. I will definitely use there plumbing service again.

During the snaking of the mainline one of my older pipes broke and created a bigger problem. Because of the new issue, work had to be done the next day. 2022-06-17I agreed to pay $89.50 to have them come on site and look at the problem.The sump pump was located in my crawl spaceOnce they arrived they told me that it would cost $411.00 to enter the crawlspace to give an assessment on what needed to be done.I really wish they would have mentioned this prior to coming out or I would not have agreed to the $89.50 trip fee. In the end they made me pay the $89.50 for doing absolutely nothing other than take a picture of the pump while standing outside of the crawlspace.I disputed the charge and was told abrasively that I needed to pay the fee or I was get a call from a lawyer and be put into collections.

2022-02-02My hot water heater was leaking pretty bad so I called Carters plumbing and they showed up within the time frame promised. The Technician was very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly and within a couple of hours my new hot water heater was installed and it works great! I would recommend Carters Plumbing to anyone!

2022-01-11The technician came out to unclog my main drain because there was some water in my basement around my washer and at the main access point. While he was here, he overflowed my washer again and totally flooded out my finished laundry room and the downstairs bedroom with sewer water, and proceeded to tell me it was like that when he arrived, although I walked him downstairs and it most definitely was not. He then told me he couldn’t clear the main drain through the main access point and would need to remove my toilet and access from there (another $180 ish) but he also couldn’t get through via the toilet, so he ended up trying the main drain again and did get through, but guess who still had to pay the fee for toilet access? Total nearly $600 to snake my drain. Fast forward to one week later, I just did a load of laundry and the drain backed up, so he did not fix the problem. I called Carters to get them back out here and they do not offer any guarantees for their work and suggested I get a hydro jet service for $1300 because there were roots when the snake was done. Roots don’t grow that fast! Beware, I called this place because of the positive reviews and paid more than average for them thinking they were one of the best, I was so wrong.

2021-07-07The customer service is top notch with this company! Not only were the phone operators pleasant to speak to, but they took the time to truly understand the issues we were experiencing. They were able to empathize and got us on the schedule right away, I am so thankful. Our technician, Jake F., was friendly, courteous, and efficient. He explained everything thoroughly and in a way that made it easier to understand. He turned what was some pretty terrible news about our underground pipes into an issue I felt could be taken care of, swiftly, and mostly stress-free for me. 2021-06-27Installed a sump pump after our basement flooded.The service was great. The scheduler was friendly and reassuring and the plumber, Jake, did an excellent job explaining everything to us. And then - when we got the estimate - we were pleasantly surprised. It seemed very reasonable. We added a coupon and bam! We were in business. He was so fast, competent, and very kind. Well make sure to call back when we finally get around to upgrading our bathroom.

2021-09-24I just used Carters for a clogged sewer line and the experience was great. First I called up and the representative who was very kind and engaged. She noticed an appointment was just cancelled and offered me the slot for same day. Sure I got lucky but it also took her being aware of the schedule to provide that option and as the guy with sewage in my shower....I am very glad she did! She then called me just before the plumber was to arrive at my house.Then Derrick showed up shortly after I received the call. Derrick introduced himself and listened to my issue. Before coming in the house he went back to the car to grab the shoe covers, which is huge bonus points for me. He explained to me what he thinks was going on and did a thorough job understanding how my plumbing system works. This may seem like what you would expect but having someone ask questions, and educate me as well, meant a lot as a new home owner.Lastly Derrick identified the cause of my clog and quickly resolved the issue. He then provided me with three different ways to address it in the future and what a rough estimate for those options would be. I felt like he genuinely cared about my issue and preventing it without jumping right to the most expensive solution and taking advantage. Instead he provided short term and long term solutions while also discussing the pro vs cons. I say all this because the fact they came so quickly was great but Derrick took this to a beyond 5 star experience with his approach to consulting me and my issue.I would 100% recommend Carters plumbing and hope you get lucky enough to work with my guy Derrick!
