My husband tried going to The Cobbler first on Wealthy St. That guy told my husband his boots, werent worth repairing, and he should just buy a new pair.My husband loves his boots and has had them for almost five years, all he needed was for them to be repaired or resoled. He found Sam at Cascade Shoe Service and he said he could repair them as is, and get more life out of then FIRST, then said to bring them back when the sole completely wore out and hed resole them!Thats the difference between a hipster in Eastown that tells you to just throw something away, and a guy who understands that not everything needs to be replaced, but can be fixed to last longer! We will only be going here from now on!
Sam does a reasonably good job generally, but it can take a while and he definitely doesnt work cheap. Ive taken him several things over the years, the last being a pair of my wifes sandals with a torn heel sole. He charged $50 so I expected he would replace the heel sole (it was only the size of a quarter perhaps), but all that $50 bought was a patch.
Very difficult to work with. I needed a custom modification to a pair of athletic shoes, but in the meantime I need the shoes for my training during the week. I didnt want to leave my shoes sitting on his shelf for a week and a half while he was working on the jobs ahead of me in line, so asked if he could get me in the queue and then give me a call when he was ready to work on my shoes and I would bring them in. I even offered to pay a deposit up front to hold my spot but he refused to even consider it and he was rude about it as well. Apparently leaving your shoes there and waiting for him to get to them whenever he can is the only way he operates.I wasnt willing to give up my shoes for two weeks or more so I left and went to The Cobbler at 1558, on Wealthy St. The guy there, Remy, was very friendly and had no problem working with my schedule to make sure Im not left without my shoes for any longer than necessary.
Better call to determine if your repair is actually finished before you drive out there on the pick-up date.My simple purse handle repair wasnt finished the morning of the pick up date (one week after drop off). When I explained to the shop owner that I had driven quite a ways and had hoped that he would have called me to report a delay, I was told, If I had to call all of my customers, I wouldnt get any work done. He would call me when it was ready. I was stunned by his attitude. Some 45 minutes later he called to report that my purse was done. Another 16 mile round trip to the store for me only to be told that if I had come later in the day, it would have been done...that his intent was to squeeze me in with all of his other orders during the week. ( I had not even asked for a rush job, he put the pick-up date on the tag, not me. )A Sorry for the inconvenience was all I got and a $30 charge for a minor repair that appeared to be hastily done. While the 2 shop dogs were friendly, I will not be returning.
I drove across town to this place in desperation to get emergency repair done to my motorcycle boots while on a cross country trip (despite the warnings I had read in previous reviews). I called ahead and nobody picked up. Sure enough, when I arrived, the shop was closed during the stores posted hours of operation. If you happen to catch the owner actually there, be prepared to put money down for the repairs and have cash as that is the only form of payment he will accept.
This place is dishonest! I took a Gucci bag there to be repaired and it mysteriously disappeared. . Owner started screaming and yelling at me and told me he didnt know where it was at and I mustve picked it up already. Obviously was not the case because why would I go there quite already picked it up?

2022-08-04I needed repairs on a motorcycle race boot, which is rather a unique item to work on. Sam took in the task without hesitation, got it done for a fair price, and was pleasant and accommodating when a bit of follow up work was needed. Hes earned all business in the future!

2022-04-22Charged me $25 to repair a few loose stitches on a dress shoe. Went to pick it up Saturday morning. Closed! The website said the store was open from 9 to 1pm. NOT! Will not go back.

2021-01-20Its hard to find people who are truly good at their craft. Sam is one of them. I took my father-in-laws leather belt in to get fixed for my husband. Sam got it done in time for my husbands birthday and it looks great. High quality custom work. Also does great at repairing high end shoes. I Wouldnt take in shoes that are cheap, I wouldnt invest the money into fixing them.

2021-02-23I walked in with a belt that lost the stitching around the buckle. 10 minutes later I walked out with a belt no less the worst for wear. I talked with the owner whom has been in business 37 years. All in all a very pleasant visit. This business gets my highest rating!
