Central City Park in Westland
It was a perfect setting. The beauty of the park was enjoyed by my group. Also the park was clean and the free concert near the concessions was a nice option. Thank you Westland! My grandchildren love this park too! They typically celebrate birthdays there during these times.
I absolutely LOVE this park... My 5 yr old daughter meets nice kids to play w/ here, who’s parents have become good friends of mine for play dates!!Always nicely landscaped & kept up. I also like that the police station is right next door...NO rif-raf that I have seen so far because they circle the parking lot checking on cars & the park. Even the bathrooms are pretty clean for a park & concession stand for drinks & snacks, with an ice cream truck that circled every now & then!!!!I give this park a 5 Star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Theres a splash pad in one area, you do pay for but I think its worth buying the season pass, also a free regular side, it does get very sunny so bring sun block as the play structure is not shaded. Theres one chair swing in the swing area for any children who need more ❤ care, expect Porta potties unless you go up where the snack bar is there is bathrooms next to snack bar, theres a beautiful track, a foutian eating area near the snack bar..they hold the Farmers Market one day a week in the center of park in its own area. People have birthdays at the park every Saturday expect it to be busy it slows down in the better part of evening. Bicycles, roller skating, hover boards, scooters are welcome as theres side walks and track around the back of back splash. Theres a skate board park also the kids bring their trick bikes, it is set back deep off the parking lot closer to the police station. Theres only a couple things you might want to know yes handicap accessible for the park and splash pad..but parking lot needs to be redone and could be bumpy if not near entrance, the portajohns is the closest bathroom and it is a bit of walk for a stretched out beautiful park, I wish people would be more clean and respectful of the wildlife..the staff does there very best to clean up it does get messy at times with the amount of traffic. The gazebos have smaller parties and bigger parties are by the snack bar and fountain. Theres no grills avaible but Ive seen people bring there own. This is a place for just about everyone to enjoy.
Love this park! However, restrooms are an issue when park is not Open for the season. In the summer there is a splash pad open, prices vary if you are a resident or not. The only thing is they need more benches around the playground for parents. Currently there is only one and it is by the swings.
The play scape is great for kids of all ages and big enough for parents to use too! The splash pad is awesome and cheap if youre a resident ($3 for residents, $10 for non with season pass options). Living so close I bought a pass this year and have been having a great time!
Nice park, friendly and helpful staff (although, they always seem to be over staffed, many people doing a small job or sitting around) The play structure is awesome, farmers market is a bit small but has good items available, and has adequate parking. Only downfall is the splash pad costs a bit much. I understand if it cant be free like it used to be, but it is also quite a discrepancy between resident and non resident. $3-$10 is a big jump, especially considering the close proximity to Garden City, Livonia and Canton. Overall, its definitely a park worth visiting.
The park has a lot to offer! A huge playscape, a walking/running track, soccer fields, and a really nice splash pad. There is also a concession stand and the farmers market on Thursdays when in season. The only complaint I have is the fact that you have to pay to use the splash pad even though it was free the first year, and you can go to ones in neighboring communities for free.
I miss when Central City Park was actually a park and felt close to nature. Now its mostly a concrete plaza and farmers market next to a big water area and playscape. If you have kids and youre looking for ways to get them active this is probably a great place, if youre an adult looking to enjoy nature there is nothing for you here.
Great times. Wonderful place to get out and have some fun. I used to live across the street from there and I recently moved away but I love it I used to have my garage sale the same time as you had yours concert / Carnival / everything. I sure do miss it living over there in Westland. I moved away but I still come with their every year especially for the fireworks great times wonderful music. I wouldnt miss it every year I would come EVERY year I wouldnt miss it for nothing every year love the fireworks GREATmusic... Its lots of fun!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀...
Very nice park but make sure you pack and apply your bug spray. I was bit by a small brownish colored fly for the first time in my life! I didnt even realize flies bite! I felt it on my ankle and it drew blood. Gross and kinda painful! Wish I had applied my bug spray a lot sooner!
It was a nice day out but they raised the price to 10$ for non residents. Seen alot of familys get turned away. A little expensive for a place without a pool! Even food prices went up alot. Kids had fun really all that matters. But what abt yhe ones who coyldent get in?Any alternitive ideas?
Awesome Park & Play Structure I wish I could see all the way thru it so I can always see where my kids are but great place to take the kids & play. I wish it didnt cost $40 per/year for a Summer Pass a Westland Resident. It should be $40 total for at least a few years if ur a Westland Resident because its only 3 months out of the year. At least cover a years worth which would be 4 summers!
This was my first time coming because I was going to meet my favorite breads vendor. Few other vendors due to rain.I noticed an extremely dangerous situation with the curb going to the covered vendor area. As an older woman who uses a power wheelchair I went up the curb in the direction of my vendor. This curb is very dangerous going down. Im in pretty good shape in the upper body. So when I left I was able to catch myself, otherwise I might have been tossed out of my chair onto the pavement. This entrance is directly in front of the vendors in that covered pavilion and is in no way marked that it is not a safe curb for wheelchair user to use. Its so dangerous that has the potential to fatally injure another wheelchair user.
Very nice place to come and take the children or for a walk they also have a fresh fruit vegetable market and crafts on every Thursday skate park concession stand thats open pool park for the kids huge playgrounds running field all this and more very well kept and maintained
The Blues Brews & BBQ Was Fantastic..The Bands where Awesome and it was a layed back Beautiful Night. The Fireworks where real colorful and lit up the sky..This was my 2nd year coming to this event...I will return next year for the 10th year of this event..Thanks Westland for keeping it safe.
The prices were not displayed where you pay at the food hut. It was $10 pp to play at a small splash pad, way over priced for so little to do. Didnt want to disappoint the kiddos so I payed, but will never return again. Shame on you Westland parks and rec. This was a rip off.

2021-08-22Very beautiful park to walk through and play Pokemon Go. It has a small duck pond perfect for taking pictures. Plus another pond with a turtle! There is a splash pad for a fee (not sure how much), pavilion, and an indoor space thats great to host parties. The playground area is not only huge but it has some really cool slides that are different heights. I really love the mini food stand and the outdoor seating. Cant wait to go back!

2022-06-25My grandson enjoys playing and interacting with friends and making new friends. The park is well maintained. The only thing that could be improved is benches in the shade closer to the play area for grandparents that forget to bring a chair.

2022-06-28Love taking my son to play here. He like the splash pad and its even better since they remodel it. Fun to pack a bag and go for the day or they have food available to purchase

2021-05-05Love this park. We drive from Novi to come here. It started with them having the good baby swings that seem so hard to find. Now my son is 15 months and runs all over the play structure. Its probably not designed for toddlers, but its big enough for a parent to go almost anywhere with their smaller child. I just follow right behind him and he gets all the way to the top with no issue. We will continue to take the time to drive down for an overall better park experience!

2022-05-07This was a very nice, clean park with nice walking path, fountain, nice ramadas and skate park. Still looking for the perfect park. This one is adjacent to city buildings, police station maybe, and is across from Kroger FYI.

2022-04-04It has a really cool playground for the kids. It has a big field with a track around it. It had a splash park and a concession stand, but they were closed the day we went.

2022-04-21Splash park is too costly for nonresident. Large playground with many towers and slides. Many pavilions. Little library. Swings. Floods terrible after a rain. New charging station.
