Small menu, great service, The food was very good. Cant wait to go back. They need to add a shining star to the menu. My suggestion would be a burritos. Use your smoked chicken, ground beef or prime rib as options. Maybe even a good steak.. we will try it for sure again.
While this has been closed for a few years, the new owners are bringing back the place with a new sense of excitement and tuning. New chef with some creative ideas. Cleaning up the tired areas and fixing the things that were wrong. Happy to be able to get back into the gorgeous bar area at then end of a destination ride on the road or trail during all 4 seasons. Bar area is huge and the patio areas are great for looking over the lake, hanging by the fire or even playing horseshoes! Going back soon. Also a small hotel with a lodge feel.
Stopped here for a late lunch. Food was fine and a verity of burgers and other bar food. This was a Sunday with no liquor. Wine and Beer only maybe that will change in the future hopefully. Since we r local its strange that there is no notification they are open again with new owners. I dont get the Cheboygan paper but I do get the Advance if the new owners want more customers from the locals they should target their promotions wider than the are doing now. Promote the business dont suppress it. Good Luck to the new owners.
This is the hottest place in the area. Great view inside and out. Awsome food that I cant wait to come back to next year. We stayed 3 days and went 4 wheeling everyday. Trails are everywhere near this place. Nice friendly staff. Do not listen to the 1 star whiney babbies.
Service very slow, waiters talking to regulars at the bar and left a couple tables waiting for more than a few minutes and more than once. The food was limited menu of bar food not what we expected. The restaurant is not open due to lack of help. Left disappointed, drove out of our way for this.
Great place to get away. Room was extra cozy and inviting. Bed was more comfortable than my bed at home. Everyone there were polite and nice to talk to. We were the only ones staying at the hotel this weekend and we felt they gave us just enough attention. We wanted to enjoy the ATV trails in the area, if you are looking for a place to stay this place is perfect. If you are looking for the good trails go south. The north ones are ruined with all the little speed bump hills. The southern trail routes wind in and out of the woods and fields and do yourself a favor and stop in at The Bluffs on Black Lake restaurant. Awesome shaded deck with picture perfect view and the mushroom bisque was worth a 2 hour drive up here.
Closed. If you want to take your kids sledding down the hill just in front of the building there like we have over the past twenty years you still can, just dont park on their side of the road as some guy will drive up to you and tell you to get off the property. Sure miss the old owners who didnt complain about sledders parking and even provided free hot chocolate and heat just inside the front of the establishment. I think it was called the Chateau back then.
The owners of the lodge are extreamly friendly and helpful. The lodge is clean and well maintained. The decor is exactly what you would expect from an up north get away in Michigan with a lot of wood and a great view of the lake outside. The lodge has a mini fridge sink and mircowave.
Beautiful, picturesque scenery and very serene atmosphere. Its the perfect place to get away for a relaxing long weekend or more. The resort is of rustic, woodsie decor and is very clean. The rooms have just been updated. The lake across the street has a dock that we took beautiful pictures from. The lake is so clear, you can see the bottom; great for swimming.Wally took excellent care of us, and provided anything we needed; he made us feel right at home.We look forward to going back real soon after the restaurant is open; I hear Wallys BBQ is to die for.We miss you Wally!!!Mike and Kris and Your friends from St. Clair Shores!!!!
Always a great time at Black Mountain Lodge. Great place for snowmobile riders in the winter ORV riders in the summer. Ride in ride out access which is almost unheard of these days. Clean and comfortable with a Lodge feel. Build a fire, have a drink, enjoy.Fishing is also an option too. Close to Black Lake and Black river as well as Cheboygan charters for Big Lake Huron. There are some restaurants and even a golfing.......
We showed up on motorcycles and the place was closed down we werent aware of that it had been closed for 2 years looked like it was a beautiful place however the owner was around we did sit and chat with him he was very kind too bad I couldnt have been there when it was open however they are still renting the rooms out and weekends
We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes to place an order. No severs check even though they walked past us multiple times and we had menus at the table. We had to go to hostess to ask if we could place an order since they were starting to clear tables to close for the night. When a server came over it was just to say sorry this happened and then we had to wait another 10 minutes for the assigned server to take our order. I was also charged for a refill on my pop.

2022-07-02Road the trails and then stopped at the Chateau for a cold drink. Ended up ordering iced tea, water, Diet Coke, and appetizers. Had the Irish Nachos and Onion Rings. Both were cooked just perfectly. The Irish Nachos are really potatoes. Served on a big platter and enough for 4 to share. Friendly service and a great view of Twin Lakes. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather and view. Highly recommend! We even topped off our gas tanks.

2022-04-05My best friend was married and held a reception there. The circumstances werent ideal, but with the help of the staff, it seemed it had been planned for months. When in fact it was about 2 weeks. The food was great, and the staff was phenomenal. The chef was the most down-to-earth friendly guy. Word needs to get out about this hidden gem. Hands down solid 10.

2022-02-19Food was good and wait staff very pleasant. Give it a couple more months while they work out the menu (only been open 3 weeks) and then Im sure it will be a 4 or 5.

2021-07-05Limited menu, but everything in the menu is great. Some fresh daily specials not on menu that are seasonal. I am not a beer drinker but I did try the fruit hard cider. I have been there 4 times this season and service is constantly great. I enjoyed eating outside overlooking the small lake. Hidden gem, worth going out if your way for a nice social meal with family or friends.
