Husband and I stopped into this shop after discovering it on an out of town trip, so we stopped in to check it out. Were casual collectors, I like to find the real oddities and never have a specific purchase in mind. The gentleman working the store was super friendly, offered suggestions, let me look at multiple items without rushing me or any pressure to buy.Whether a true collector or just starting out, I would very much recommend stopping by and checking it out. We will be defiantly be making this a regular stop when were in the area. =)
Super knowledgeable! Very friendly!! Went in to get my dad coins with his birth year (1946) and they gave me 3 wheat pennies from the different mints! Dad loved them and it made his day and birthday! I wish I had found these wonderful folks, years ago.Fifteen years ago, for a retirement investment, I bought a small fortune in rare gold coins from a supposedly top-line dealer on the East Coast.This claimed best investment you could ever make was a total bust! After 15 years of appreciation in value it turned out my precious coins were worth 25% less than I originally paid for them !!!Turns out the big East Coast dealer followed a Sell high, buy back low policy and I was the loser.After my wonderful experience yesterday with Chelsea Rare Coins and some heirloom Silver Dollars, I wish I had gone to them 15 years ago. Back then I figured a small town dealer couldnt possibly offer as good a deal as a large East Coast coin dealer. How wrong I was!I was greatly impressed with the quality of coins offered at Chelsea Rare Coins and at their honesty and integrity. I highly recommend them.
I had a great experience here. They kept their word on holding a price point for me overnight even when a fluctuating market made it beneficial to me and unfavorable for them. Great guys here!

About 6 months ago, my 7 year old son wanted to start coin collecting. The guys at Rare Coins are not only knowledgable, but are also kind and generous! They spend time with him talking about the history of the coins he looks at and find interesting things on his limited allowance budget :)Great people and lots of interesting finds. Good experience taking in a bag of various coins to sell. Purchase offer was quick, professional and painless. On the way out, I noticed they have some collectible, autographed memorabilia for sale in addition to their coins. Worth a look if youre a collector or buying a gift for one.

Great value for my silver and while I was there I found a beautiful byzantine silver necklace in the display case. I walked out with 20 bucks in my pocket and gorgeous necklace made in Italy. He also appraised my roman coin while I was there, this guy knows his coins. 10 stars!!!

Todd asked for mezcal from Mexico, brought him back a pricey bottle, he said he would make a good deal with me if i did. He didnt even look at it before the deal, could have been a 10$ bottle or a 100$ bottle. I dont trust the guy, overly friendly then???? Included an item he told me was worth 20$, i didnt need it so asked him if he would buy it back, no he gets it for free... but its 20$$ to me. What a fake. Dint fall off the barn toif drinking the mezcal Todd.

2022-02-27Excellent experience visiting this business! Rich showed me some of his latest rare coin acquisitions, the first of which was a Mint state Marcus Aurelius Gold from 161 A.D. The others were two nice 1793 Wreath cents graded by NGC. The Wreath cent was the first penny struck in the U.S. He also showed me a Double Headed 1964 Jefferson nickel NGC certified! I was also shown a PCGS graded 1882 MS66 US Seated half that was stunning! Super neat!!In the past, Rich purchased my fathers coin collection for a very competitive price. All in all-a very professional place to do business.

2020-02-29I got into silver stacking a few months ago but was deterred by the attitude of some other local coin store owners. I thought I would give Chelsea Rare Coin a shot and I am so glad that I did. This business literally got me excited about the hobby again.The owners are really kind and helped me go through some silver that I had collected when I was a kid. They also gave me a fair price on some new silver that I purchased from them.I will be going back here for sure. It feels good to finally have a local coin shop that I can call my home shop.I recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. A great business for sure.

2020-01-11I first came in with my son before Thanksgiving to look around and the shop keeper was so nice to us and spent time showing my son the interesting coins and paper money. We bought a coin to get my son interested in collecting. Came back in January to get an appraisal for a few small gold coins my wife inherited. He was happy to give us an honest appraisal with no expectation that we would sell them to him or buy anything from him. They were transparent with how they came to the price.

2021-01-19THE OWNER IS A DISHONEST SCOUNDREL. I wanted to buy a few American Gold Eagles. The owher told me to call a week later, he said her would have them ready for me. I come a week later, the gold prices are growing, but he offers me not Gold Eagles but Gold Krugerrands and a sale contract, on which he scribbled that he would exchange them for American Eagles later. Well... he did not do that. He kept dragging his feet, kept telling me to come later when the prices go down, etc, etc. Many months have passed, but he still has not delivered the American Gold Eagles that I paid for. Beware, and never trust this guy.

2015-04-10I had an excellent experience with the owner of Chelsea Rare Coins. When he asked me how much I wanted for the gold bars I was selling, he told me I was asking too little for them, and he recommended a more appropriate price. I knew how much gold was selling for that day, but he didnt let me undercut myself. I was pleased and impressed by the mans honesty and integrity. Ill happily do business with him again, should the occasion arise, and will certainly recommend him to my friends.
