Lenore Wengert, our representative, really goes the extra mile. She keeps us updated of any changes and is always comparing rates so we get the best deal! She is so personable and takes a sincere interest in our well being. She really cares about her clients.
What a joke!They got the rebate insurance money from the state on the 9th of March, but they are not sending it out to customers until April 10th!They are making money on our money!Typical crooks!
We have had 2 claims so far ..one for a floor water wooden damage repair and second for a car ..both time had excellent service, timely feedback and most importantly no rate hikes.
The reason I have 5 stars is:This is a great Insurance Co. I have been with them over 25 years.My recent claim is the reason for taking time to submit this review.I had a plumbing problem in my basement bathroom. It was just awful. The drainpipe was clogged and backed up. This was a nightmare. I called the claims department. They told me to relax and let them take care of it. They immediately sent a company to remove the water and dry the area so the work could be done. The company they sent out was great. That company was Servpro . I recommend Servpro for any emergencies like this. After the area was dry, they sent out a plumber. The plumber had to unclog the drain and possibly replace the drain pipe. Hanover was there for me in case the drain pipe had to be replaced. Fortunately, they was able to unclog the drain. Once the drain was unclogged, they proceeded with necessary repairs and replaced the damaged floor and surrounding walls, everything was retiled. What made me feel comfortable, was they offered a hotel stay but I declined that offer because I was able to use the upstairs bathroom.Its nice to have peace of mind, especially during this pandemic. I appreciate this company, from my agent (Mark) down to the claims department (Dustin). Everyone that came to my house was wearing a mask.Thanks again,Zoka Bazzy
Even though the rates are great, they are making me jump threw pointless hoops just to stay insured. I wouldn’t recommend.
I’ve been with the Hanover group almost 8 months. They are a very very excellent group, I cant imagine their services and what they did to me when I had an accident. I had no rental coverage on my policy, I rented a car, I paid money out of my pocket, two weeks later I called them to see if they can pay me back. A week later I received a call from they telling me that they are going to issue a check for me with the same amount I paid, check was issued and deliveref to my address after two days only with NO questions. I love them, Ill stay with them for ever. Thank u so much Hanover
We had hail damage to our roof as well as our two vehicles this year. Our claim was handled quickly and professionally. Very impressed with the service we received.

We have been with Citizens Hanover Insurance for 5+ years, this spring we had a bad hail storm that damaged our vehicles and house, the auto adjusters worked quickly to make sure our claim was taken care of and check sent. the home adjuster wrote the estimate and wrote a check the same day so we could start repairs.
I have full coverage and was rear ended by a careless driver doing 11k in damages. They paid everything in full with no deductible, they were easy to deal with, answered all my questions and paid for a rental until my car was fixed.
My Husbands truck was hit while parked in the parking lot at work. Regardless of the full coverage insurance that we have on the vehicle, this insurance company has done everything in its power to NOT pay the claim. If you use this company, youre literally just paying them for the paper in your glove box because they dont actually insure or provide any customer service. BUYER BEWARE.
This company does NOT follow the law, and is excluding Veterans denying their Health Insurance benefits to receive the lower rates!!! Per Federal standards VA Health is covered under the Affordable Care Act and Citizens are NOT adhering to this coverage.
Hanover Citizens homeowners & auto insurance have been extremely helpful in the claims I have had to make. I highly recommend them and I’m happy to be their customer!
They seemed good to me until my truck was repaired from an accident. The shop overlooked a damaged tire, but there was no immediate issue until i got my truck on the highway months later & realized that at 70 MPH & faster, the truck would shake so bad the steering wheel would vibrate & the seat-belts would lock. I thought, Ill get it aligned & if there is still shaking, ill go back to the shop. After Bell tire said tires were balanced, rotated, & aligned, it still shook at highway speeds. Went back to the shop where they were quickly defensive in saying the tires are dry rotted & old & i waited to long, even though they admitted the shake and was following a certain tire. Hanover Insurance refused to even pay a betterment portion for replacement of the tire damaged in the accident. I guess Hanover has a time limit on doing the right thing whenever theres a decent sounding excuse to renig on their contractual obligations. Very unethical co. You have been warned: avoid this insurance co. I spoke with several mechanics who agreeed that old or slighly dry rotted tires dont cause shaking unless it leads to visibal deterioration & obvious chuncks coming off the tire tred. It was just an excuse for them to duck out of a few hundred $.Update: when emailed later via the claim agent regarding my satisfaction level, i expressed my frustration & let them know i was shopping around for a new insurance provider. There manager called me, heard me out, and then offered to buy a new tire, even though i let him know that half the value of a new tire was enough considering how many miles were on mine (1/2 life). I got a quote for a comparable tire & sent to him, then he mailed me a check for that amount. So they made good on their end, eventually. Ill bump them from 1 star up to 3. Later, a tree branch in my yard fell on my truck doing over $3500 in dmg after a very windy storm. They didnt even ask to see pictures. They just paid for it. My rates have never gone up either. So im going to stick with them.
Horrible company- DO NOT deal with them. They were fine until we needed them. WThey are working extremely hard to turn down a rental car for us when our vehicle was damaged when a deer ran out. Although on two places on our policy says YES after rental car, they are telling us we are covered at 1 CENT per day for rental car. Best check your policy if you too figured YES meant YES. This company has the most incompetent people working for them. Which says even less for the company. I paid my bill sat, which was 279.00. This morning they debuted my bank account 5279.10 dollars. And then tell me over draft fees are my problem and it’s going to take 5 to 10 days for them to fix it. The person that did this should be fired on the spot. Worst company ever. Canceled insurance on one of my vehicles may 21st its now June 17th 2021 still no refund check keep getting the runaround they owe me 796 dollars well get a lawyer
Ive been with Citizens Hanover for many, many years. Any claim that I have had whether auto or home, has been paid in full in a very timely fashion. Ive never had any complaints. They are wonderful to work with!!!
Citizens insurance is awesome Im Ive been with them for the last 3 years never had an issue. And working for General Motors when we went on strike finances got a lil low they worked with me. So this is a great company all around customer service , everything thank you.
After almost 3 years with Citizens, my wife was in a head on collision that disabled her knee permanently.Due to loss of income we had a late payment and were canceled. We owed them $393 for the balance of 2017 and we were not eligible for reinstatement because of the 2 claims we made in a 6 month period. ( a glass chip and minor side swipe, which we didnt even get fixed )Citizens has made it very difficult for us to have a normal household, my wifes income has still not been compensated for ( its May 2017 and the crash, which she was not at fault for was November 2016 ) - if you are looking for an insurance company to protect your family and vehicles, I would highly recommend that you choose another company.Citizens has repeatedly failed us and now with this cancellation it looks like they are just looking at their bottom line.
I changed to Hanover about 3 years ago, I have had one claim with no hassle, with a better rate than my old company.
So far over the past 5 to 6 yrs. They have been great to work with. They have covered all our needs so far. Thank you citizens.
Excellent customer service and quite reasonable rates! My agent is always there for me when I need her help and her service is so thorough going over and above of what is asked of her.
I have had a claim in with this company since Dec. 2017, it is now Feb. 2018 and they have still not called me back with a resolution. I have called several times and I keep getting voicemail. UPDATE: Hanover has been in touch with me and we are getting my situation resolved.
I have tried calling this office numerous times to change my policy. I keep getting sent to voicemails with no callback. The last girl I called and asked if there was an actual agent to speak to, actually laughed and said no.
I am fairly new with Citizens Insurance. I have given them a 4* rating based on their premium and coverage. However, I will revisit this rating after I have been with them for sometime and after reviewing their future premium increases.
The premiums & coverage are better than my old insurance.My only complaint is lack of timeliness in getting the bills sent to me.

I have just switched to Citizens Insurance based on the recommendation of my insurance agent. My other insurance was great and I never had any problems with them other than the rates had gotten ridiculous so I switched. So far the experience has been interesting. The insurance adjuster came on the wrong scheduled day. He arrived a day early and apologized he had me mixed up with another customer. The time of the scheduled date was 5:00p.m. and he came at 7:30p.m. He did the inspection even though it was not a convenient time for me as I was leaving for an appointment. I havent had much interaction with Citizens so time will have to see if the lower rates were actually worth the move.
This is a terrible company, they are dishonest and do not follow the law.My daughter was in a fender bender - the other driver (insured by HANOVER) was at fault and this company HANOVER GROUP based in HOWELL MICHIGAN refused to pay the full deductible. WHAT A SHAM. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
Outstanding. Was with them when I lived in Michigan for over 35 years, had a couple of claims, responded quickly, never had any issues with them. Moved out of state to another state where they didnt write and now going back and will do business with them again. Super great company in spite of their lousy incomprehensible web sites which do their agents great harm in getting new business from the web sites. Plus, their phone systems really suck bad - they need a different communications manager because what they have isnt working. Yet, once you find an agent, they are a really nice company.
They are far from proficiency, will bill you more than what you sign for , they cancelled my policy without my knowledge and still take my money for 3 months. They are not good.
Constant delays with my auto claim. Adjuster does not return phone calls or emails, never seems to be in the office. Supervisors are no better.
The worst business insurance company ever! It takes them 2-3 days to reply every single email and then they drag you for a month with senseless forms and questionnaires. Nope, not a good practice.

2022-09-14In 2017 I was rear ended so hard my vehicle was shoved up onto the median taking out a sapling tree, so the damage was both front and back. From the first call to the end, Citizens personnel were courteous and professional. They even understood that I was extremely stressed by the incident offering graciousness and understanding. I have been insured by Citizens for a long time. My rates did not go up after filing the claim and my tax consultant told me I have a very low insurance premium compared to her other clients with other insurance companies. I have always been very satisfied with Citizens Insurance.

2022-08-16Hit a deer and after I paid the deductible and they fixed the car there was an oil leak and they said it was a maintenance issue and I had to pay for that also.

2022-01-10We are selling our house hasnt been on the market more than 2 weeks and we received a letter they are cancelling our insurance in less than 2 weeks!!! Thats how much notice they gave us!!! So now we will play hell trying to find insurance because we have been cancelled before we can even show the house. 10 years with this company no issues and this is how they treat theyre customers!!! Stay away!!!!!!

2021-10-19I had a accident and from the very first phone call to Citizens they handled it all from beginning to end. They were very professional, caring and thorough through the whole process. Easiest company we have ever worked with. They keep their rates reasonable too unlike many of the other well known companies out there. Very thankful for that too!!

2021-08-23I have both home and auto coverage but, so far, and so good, Ive had no incidences with my auto to make a claim. However, regarding the home insurance, I put in a claim for roof repair but because my repair needs werent caused by a storm and because the agent I spoke with refused the request for repair due to it being an old roof with underlying (or pre-conditions), no work was allowed to be done on it. Therefor the 3-star rating.

2021-08-20My only experience with Citizens is sales - I have never had a claim. As far as sales, I am very satisfied. They take time to explain everything. They even called my 6 months into my policy and offered a lower premium - instead of waiting till I renew.

2021-09-23My roof was damaged by a hail storm and the adjuster and Citizens worked well with the contractor an me to get the roof re shingled. This was done in a reasonably timely way. I also stopped procrastinating and finished an old claim from COVID lock down and got the final check promptly.

2021-07-12I had a serious auto collision without injury to me. I dreaded a battle with the insurance company over ever detail. The opposite happened. I was completely satisfied with the answers, timeliness, politeness, knowledge, and support provided the Citizens team.This was my first auto accident in fifty years of driving. Citizens handled every detail without error and with speed. I never imagined I would be singing the praises of an auto insurance company. For this one I am without promotional pay.

2021-08-20I had an accident two years ago, my first in many years. Not my fault. The claims adjuster handled the collision loss immediately, provided me with a loaner vehicle, and made sure everything was done competently and without delay.A real pleasureable experience!

2021-08-20Good insurance company and I think my rates are semi-reasonable. They provided me with the lowest rate of any company I inquired by a substantial amount. I got my windshield replaced by Safelight in my driveway for zero deductible.
