Comment: March 31, 2023 rented a car for 2 days. Everything is fine. The guy at the reception was very pleasant, polite, explained everything well and clearly to me (I don’t know English, but he even warned me to be careful in Los Angeles and not go to the extreme left lane as it is paid and did not drive on toll roads Otherwise, a large bill will come to a bank card). On Sunday, I returned the car without any problems - the employee himself parked my car. Everything is fine! If you have credit cards from non-American banks, then almost all car rentals have problems, and not just in this salon. Everythings OK! I recommend. Good luck!

Comment: I cant believe I never wrote a review for this place! I used them back in Nov 2022 because we needed a rental for our wedding (we are from out of state) and they were cheap and within the city. I was able to book something last minute (about 2 months before) and they also allow you to add any rental insurance at the time of pick up. The employee recommended 2 different ones (I forgot which ones!), but everything else he said we didnt need. Returns were seamless and easy!My only complaint is that the inside of the vehicles windshield was filled with a bunch of smudge marks to the point where we couldnt see through it while driving a night. Extremely dangerous! We had to pullover to wipe it down before continuing our drive.Overall, I would book from them again!

Comment: Somebody send some love to this small business!To be frank, I was honestly nervous with City Rent-A-Car after reading the reviews.I went ahead anyways because their prices were simply unbeatable….$50/day in this day and age is unheard of! On top of that, they allowed after-hours return free of charge.There was 0 line when I arrived slightly after 8am on a Sat (Dec 10th).Check-in was a breeze, within minutes Kema finalized the paperwork and my white 2017 Chevrolet Spark (as advertised) was already waiting for me at the parking garage a block away (520 Mason St Garage)! The car was in good condition with 3/4 fuel and the drop-off process at the end of the day was just as smooth. I also didn’t experience being overcharge on fuel as per some of the reviews.All in all, I can’t recommend City Rent-A-Car enough and you bet that I’ll return whenever I’m in San Francisco!

Line up was 50 plus people long at Hertz (2 hr. wait min) We were on holidays so time was very important. Cancelled the Hertz rental went next door to City Car Rental the customer service was awesome! Had us in a car 15 mins later same price but with out waiting hours and hours just to get to talk to someone. Book with the little guy best service Ive ever had with a car rental.

Comment: DON’T BOOK if you have non-USA credit cards. Booked from overseas and when picking up car their payment machine kept giving problems not recognising my Credit Cards as credit cards. I was then told that they have issues with non-USA credit cards (I had one from New Zealand and another European both VISA and not recognised as credit cards by their machine). After no other option was given rented a car from the next door (where credit cards had no issues) but wasted 2 hours.

Good experience overall.Booked online before heading down and prices are lower than the other major rental companies. Comment: I had a car for 1 night and two days to go to Yosemite. It was a very smooth process and a good price ($100 from 10am to before 11pm the next day). Many rental car places dont let you return after close without a fee. This place allowed me to return the car anytime before 11pm. They had my car ready for me at pickup and drop off was a piece of cake. Drive it into their garage and someone takes the keys from you. Simple.

I only rented for a couple days, but its very nice of them to valet the car down from the off-site garage one block over (you meet them there at the entrance to the garage) and you can also return your car after hours by leaving it with the valet. The car itself was clean, new, and modern, and we had no issues worth noting. The price was not expected, but very much so welcome. The lady at the office who helped us rent was polite and informative. Overall, a good experience, and hard to beat. Ill trust this place next time Im in town and need a rental.

If you are looking for a car rental place in San Francisco with quick service, good prices, and incredible convenience, this is the place. They offer free overnight parking if you need to park from a day to the next. You can also return the car late night, much after the office is closed, in a parking lot located 1 block from the office. When I drop off the car by the end of the second day of rent I admit I was kind of afraid. No check-list, no fuel check, no GPS check. I tried to inform the office that Ive returned the car but it was close. Morning next day a receipt arrived into my email box with the invoice description and everything was perfect.

Comment: Furthering my belief that businesses that do not spend excessively on marketing, specifically advertising, are in a much better position to offer a quality product/service at competitive prices, I present City Rent-A-Car. Being that their location is off the beat and that youve probably never heard of them, that means they are able to offer great rates on great cars. Their fleet is not enormous, but they do have a little bit of everything, so whether you are looking for a truck or van to move out of your apartment, a monster SUV for a weekend ski trip, or a hot rod convertible to go cruising for fur-burgers, they probably will have what you are looking for in a car that is less than 2 years old with low mileage (just like the big guys) at a price that will make you wonder what the catch is. Thing is, there isnt one! Better still, if you have your own insurance and a credit card that covers your deductible, you can save even more! While they have great service (dont confuse them keeping phone calls short as rudeness- they are just very busy) youd be better off to reserve a call in advance. They dont ask a lot to hold a car for you- in fact for me (I have a bit of a customer history that might be the reason) I didnt have to put any sort of deposit for them to hold the car for me. I am guessing they rent stuff so easily that they are not worried about getting stuck with unrented cars.TL;DR: Skip big rental car carriers and go with CRAC and get the same car (or better) for a fraction of the price!PS: Like every other rental car company on the planet, they expect you to have a credit card, so dont expect your debit card to cut the mustard. I saw a complaint about that, but I have never seen anyone rent a car on a debit card without a large cash deposit in lieu of it so dont blame CRAC if they wont rent you an Escalade on your Diners Club card. Also, if you are less than 25 years old, youre probably going to have to pay a large fee because people your age have most auto accidents by an order of magnitude, so expect to open your wallet. This is especially true if you require insurance as well. This is just standard operating practices for the industry so buck up! Dont take it personally.

Prices are reasonable, service has been great, and the $40 drop off fee at SFO is a bargain. It costs about the same as a van to the airport but lets us schedule it at our convenience instead of the convenience of the van driver and other passengers.

Vehicle didnt even have a scratch on it; now what other rental vehicle have you driven that didnt even have a scratch on it?Customer service had me in and out in a wink of the eye. Covered all the details and had me sign a minimum number of papers before I drove away. While I did call ahead and reserve my vehicle (which is always a good idea) when I got there Im certain it was no more then 10 minutes from the time I walked through the front door, gave my ID and method of payment, reviewed the paper work, had the insurance explained to me (no pressure to buy addition insurance) car was brought to the front, we inspected the vehicle for it condition (no dents, scratches or dings), I sat in the vehicle, particular details for gas tank, registration and even directions on how to satisfy tolls on the Golden Gate Bridge: all this in under 10 minutes and from a service rep who was pleasant, patient and smiling the entire time. City Rent a Car; You Bet!!!!!

There is one spot near Reliable which has the national brands (with LONG lines), but this is right around the corner! Waited on one customer, and agent was super efficient! Transaction completed, walked a block to get the car and enjoyed the experience!HOWEVER, the reason I love this company so much was this: I got a parking ticket and paid it when I got home. SMTA made an error, though, and I was billed it by Reliable. I called to complain, but never got the chance because the employees (Jennifer? and a cool dude) had the charge reversed (with documentation, of course!) within one business day.I appreciate that their employees go above and beyond to keep their customers happy, including after the rental! The staff told us we were able to make a booking on Sunday after I showed him my international licence and credit card. The next day we went in hoping to rent a car to drive to Yosemite, another staff told me I couldnt rent out the car because the international license had to be used along with the Thai license, which was ridiculous. First of all, the Thai government requires a Thai drivers license to be shown before an international could be issued. So whats the point of showing the Thai license when an internationally recognized license was shown. I had no problems using anywhere else around the world. Second of all, why was the first staff OK with the International license?A really disappointing experience with what was highly recommended company.

It was important to us that we got the car we wanted - not whatever happened to be available when we got there. City Rent A Car guaranteed the car that we booked and sure enough, it was there waiting for us when we got there. We didnt need to ring and confirm - everything went right on the day.They also offered for a small fee ($40) that we could drop it back at the airport rather than in the city. That worked well for us and saved everyone dragging their luggage to the BART station. We were a bit worried about this just in case something went wrong between us leaving the car and them getting it. However they were 100% honest and we were only charged what they said we would be.I would thoroughly recommend City Rent a Car.By the way - our friends also hired from them at the same time and had a great experience also.Thanks heaps you guys. Car was clean and available and ready as ordered, everything top notch all the way, easy peasy.Fast forward to today..Now today, it is almost a year later and my dad has passed away after a ripe long 98 year stinch we can only hope to be as healthy and full of vigor as he had been these past few years.. So again having left the city for places far and wide, I shall have the opportunity to return to the bay area and will muse by City Rent-A-Car to get meself a ride again for a few days!Worth repeat business? Best dang place to rent a car in the city? Why, yes indeedy!The challenge? Will it be convenient for the SFO airport crowd? Well that all depends on your time limits. As for me, we plan to hop a BART train to get downtown to pickup the car and if all goes well, be dropping it off on Sunday early morning at said drop-off place to catch our outbound flight ..If that cant be done, then, sniff, no City Rent-A-Car this round and well end up with some silly rental at some other silly place for sure.. (City Rent-A-Car doesnt do pickup and dropoff as far as I know they dont have a airport shuttle nor booth at said airport, but then they arent a major chain either)Pauses for a breath, and crossing my fingers I can make this work regardless, it will be worth the effort if so! I loves mah City Rent-A-Car!

Comment: I dont usually write reviews but wanted to for these guys. Marianne almost scared me away but took a chance on Reliable anyway. Ours was a higher mileage Toyota that worked out great for our one day trip down the coast and back. The people were very friendly and helpful, even took the time to show us how to go on a map. We returned the car with a full tank of gas and on time. The quote was $89 for the day and the total charge on my credit card was $97 when we got home. Was expecting much higher since SF taxes are so high. We will use them again next time we travel to San Francisco.
