I am so very torn about Countryside. I have gone here for over a dozen years. The Drs are all very friendly and seemingly knowledgeable and the staff is helpful too. However, since the older Drs have left and they expanded they dont feel the same. Appointments are impossible to get in short times. We have had issues that were not followed up on despite multiple follow-up attempts by us (medications for our dog not filled). Its as if they expanded in size but not in support staff so they cant keep up. Their covid protocols made sense, but now with the staff no longer masked and everything returning to normal the intake process seems unnecessarily difficult. Once you get past all this, the work they do is great. We keep coming back, but for the first time in over a decade we are talking about finding a new vet. We want to feel like we used to at countryside, but whatever has changed there seems to be a permanent change.I strongly stand behind all the services that have been provided to us. If you can manage through the clerical issues they are a great vet.
Horrible experience asked for prices before setting up appointments because I am on a low income. When it came time to pay it was three times what I was quoted. Got a call after the surgery to schedule a fallow up, to remove stitches when I was told and have in writing that the sutures are absorbable. Please consider using another veterinary clinic before deciding to go here.
We wanted to get a second opinion on our dogs condition and was referred to Countryside. This will be our vet of choice now. They got us right in, The staff was all friendly and helpful. Dr. Benson was so helpful and provided information. She spent alot of time answering all of our questions. You can tell she really cares about her animals and their care givers. She responds quickly to messages. The staff called the next day to check in on our fur baby.
I have never took my pet to this clinic. I made a phone call to get pricing for insemination and lady I spoke to was very rude! Even sighed like I was bothering her! Most unprofessional lady I have ever spoke to!!!If you cannot break down prices before a visit , that shows me that you do not have the time to take care of any of my doggos!!! This phone call took place 8-16-21 at approx. 430Rebecca Guinn
We have been a client for more than 4 years, spending about $300. a month on our Snoopy. Got a new puppy, he’s really sick and they will not get us in. So I guess, in their opinion we should just let him suffer until he dies. Didn’t even offer an emergency cost appt. We will take them up on the offer to send his records to another facility! They lost ALL stars in the rating
Y 14 year old lab was having severe diarrhea and stopped eating. My regular vet couldnt see her. I called Countryside, she said they were booked until September. But got her in the next morning. Because of COVID they were doing curbside service. My dog has severe separation anxiety. They said not to worry we will give her plenty of pets and love. Staff was wonderful. Dr Benson was very kind and we came up with a game plan for Kayla. Highly recommend.
As a current client when we called about our sick puppy they told us we needed to be seen that day but had no availability in which to do so. They gave us the names of other vets in the area to check with for an emergency appointment. If we couldn’t find anything they suggested we drive to Lansing. In my opinion they left us stranded when we needed them the most. What is the point of a vet if they can’t get you in when your animal is actually sick? We have since went elsewhere to the people who actually made time for our sick animal.
Ive been coming here for at least 15yrs. I adore Dr. Jacobs as I own giants and she is so knowledgeable about them. Staff is amazing as well they have always loved mine like there own. All the vets that work their are amazing Im just partial to Dr. Jacobs shes always learning and always training shes a great chiropractor for all animals she also offers laser therapy. Im not sure what Ill do if she ever retires. Shes helped me to help my 4 legged kids live their longest and best lives😃😄
I actually switched from another vets office that was closer to where I lived because of the way they had treated a friend of mine and her dog when her dog was passing. I have not regretted my decision in the least! Everyone is so friendly at Countryside and they are always cheerful and treat both of my dogs really good!! I would recommend them to anyone in need of a vet!
My daughter took her dog here after seeing another Vet. Dr. Jacobs immediately recignized that surgery was required. Upon her recommendation, we scheduled a time and are happy to report he came through the surgery in great shape and in very good spirits. At every step we were given a clear and easy to understand explanation of what was going to happen and what we needed to do for care after we went home with him. They are so kind, so experienced and very reasonably priced. Everyone we met was very friendly and genuine. I was so impressed with their service that I switched to Countryside for our dog too. This is truly first class care for your pet!
We have chosen Countryside Animal Health Clinic for the past sixteen years because of their amazing service! The staff is friendly, exceptionally skilled, and genuinely care about the animals in their care. In addition, the facility is always clean and welcoming. Our family highly recommends Countryside.
Edited my first review. Really want to love this place. Seems when we first brought our dog here we could get in within a day or two if she was sick. Now appointments are a month out. Had a sick doggo and the earliest they could get us in was a week later. Wife was freaking out and was pretty much told to pound sand. Kinda disappointing.
I genuinely mean it when I say this place is the best. They are extremely thorough, reasonable, gentle, and THEY CARE! We recently had our first visit (in hopes to get a second opinion) and left there more than satisfied. THEY WILL NOW BE OUR PRIMARY VET!!!! We have tried out FOUR in this area and Ive never experienced what I felt when I walked into their office. It was so clean and everyone was so welcoming. Dr. Brickel and the team were so sweet, and my Wrangler liked them too!! ❤🐕
I raise Labrador Retrievers and have been going to Countryside for the last 9 years. Dr. Jacobs and the staff at Countryside have been so great to me and my family. Ive been to over 20 veterinarians in the past and Countryside stands apart. Their compassion, knowledge, friendliness and experience are second to none. Ive referred many friends and colleagues there and everyone I know has the same thoughts as I do. Dr. Jacobs doesnt just treat symptoms, she gets to the bottom of whats going on. She explains all of the options and gives her recommendations. Very reasonable pricing, too. Highly, highly recommend!
Changing vets with regret. Dr. Brickel was seriously the best vet Ive met in all my years of being a pet owner however the reception staff there was too frustrating to remain a patient. today I went for a scheduled appointment and they had me sitting in a room without notifying the doctor I was even there. this isnt the first time Ive experienced frustration with the front reception and I just reached my limit today. If you are looking somebody for someone who truly cares doctor Brickel is seriously amazing and I want to make that known! just have to have little patience I guess with scheduling.
My dog is old being 12 in February but i still love him and he gets so much attention from the best doctors and interns. Even though he is not a sweet puppy any more, no love is ever held back and my feelings are always considered too. I love this place and travel a great distance just to give my dog, Joe the best care he needs. Cheri
Dr Brickel and her amazing staff were absolutely wonderful with my 4 month old Baby Luna. The care and countless times Dr Brickel talked to me and explained Lunas progress through these last 3 difficult days has been beyond anything I could have asked for. Bravo and a Big Thank you again to Dr Brickel, Melissa and her Entire Friendly Dedicated staff!
Worst veterinarian clinic I have ever been to. They are extremely slow. I have waited several hours with no explanation for the wait. Seem to always want to run additional tests, and more additional test, and still cant provide an answer. They will also add additional expensive vaccinations that are only recommended but wont actually tell you that. They will just add it on and hope you pay. I highly recommend staying clear of Dr. Dudas.
They just two face stuck up people too expensive i would highly recommend animal medical clinic on jefferson road dr white is the best and affordable n they are not stuck up they treat you like family p.s. my 14 year old cat had a heart murmur that country vet did not discover jefferson was the one that discovered which im very thankful for
I have been a client of many years, always keeping up on my dogs health needs, routine shots etc.... i have always felt strongly about the need for a great vet relationship if you own an animal... I feel VERY let down by this clinic... i have a dog YELPING in pain and they refused to see him because they are full and close in 2 hrs... i rarely have an urgent need for my animals but when I do I really need a vet I know I can trust to be there... I asked for them to stay maybe another 30 mins past 5 to help my dog out and the response was we close at 5 call another vet ..... I cannot express enough my disappointment in this clinic. they have let me and my dog down beyond measure
First of all I must point out we did use 3 different clinics for different things. Now just two! We show, breed, and handle golden retrievers. Most vets act like we are just like every other pet owner. We deal with many different issues from a sick dog, bloat, cancer, just plain old vaccines, and or the occasional spay or neuter. We arent just the normal pet people, I dont buy just the little things. I have a friend whos a vet who I do my vaccs thru and a lot of my other work, like OFAs, etc. However she is downstate. But I need a close Repro vet, and Dr Jacobs was recommended. We need someone to pull progesterones quickly (and they get me in WHENEVER I need it), I also need anyone whos able to do a C-Section when needed. Xray and Ultrasounds. These are so important to breeders.Thank you Countryside, I no longer use my vet in Bay city, and will come here for now on.Kudos!
Not there for us when we needed them. They diagnosed our 9 month old kitten with FIP, which is almost always fatal, but gave us no idea what to expect or even an estimate on how long he had left. Yes, we got the Let me know if you have any questions line, and shame on us for not asking the right questions right away...but when you are floored with heartbreaking news like that, its not always easy to come up with them immediately. When he took a turn for the worse on the weekend, and we needed help...they provide no way to contact your doctor. Recording tells you to go to the emergency clinic...which is a butcher shop at best. He had a seizure on Sunday, and we were back at the emergency place. We needed to know if this was an end stage situation? Was this something that he might have to deal with for his last few months? Should we take him home? Is he suffering? Should we put him down now? Nobody at the emergency clinic could answer these questions when we asked, and we desperately needed guidance or information from our doctor...but again...nothing but a recording...not even an option to leave a message. We decided to put him down...but now were haunted by the thought that we shouldnt have. Were left with broken hearts and nothing but questions.Dont ever settle for a vet that doesnt provide you a way to contact your doctor in a crisis situation. That is shameful and unacceptable. We needed your help Countryside...and you were not there for us.
Dr Jacobs at Countryside Animal Clinic has been treating our rescued German Wirehaired Pointer for over 3 years. Every year she mentioned the dental cleaning discount that is offered every February. After speaking with a vet in her employ in detail about this, we decided to proceed. We had originally been on the fence since the dogs are sedated to have their teeth cleaned and we felt this was unnecessary. Our boy had developed a couple of small bumps on his lower eyelid and we asked if they could be removed at the same time. She said yes and verified that the anesthesia was the majority of the cost to add the cysts to the procedure. We scheduled. The morning of the procedure I inquired about three additional fatty cysts on his body and they were added to the procedure. I informed them that I would be unreachable and instructed them to call my husband at work in case of medical emergency. I signed paper work authorizing just under $200 for the dental procedure and asked if there was anything else that needed to be signed. After I left, the office manager Beth called my husband and said that I had authorized roughly $500 for the dental and eye cysts, she then asked him to authorize an additional $200 for the body cysts. When I got out of my appt he told me what had happened. I immediately went to Countryside and stated my displeasure. Beth asked me to wait in a waiting room for Dr Jacobs. When she arrived Dr Jacobs would not allow me to speak and interrupted me repeatedly. I paid for the dental and asked her to meet me in the middle on the cysts even though it was more than we agreed on and she refused. My account is now at collections and she is claiming to have phone evidence of the conversation though she has no recording or signed quote. My husband agreed to $200 under duress based on Beths statement that I had approved $500 and that she needed an answer now because our boy was already sedated. They are attempting to bully us into paying a bill that we did not agree to.
Weve been taking our dogs to Countryside since we moved to the area years ago. These people LOVE our dogs (all of the pets they see). When we call, they know who we are. When we come in, techs and vets alike stop to pet and chat - they remember us and care. The vets (especially Dr. Peterson!) go above and beyond to make sure we have what we need so we can care for our pets well. Cant recommend them highly enough.
The people there really care about the pets and their humans. They are willing to work with you to get you in a quickly as possible. They do not push or make you feel bad when you say you cant afford a treatment. They work hard to find other options. They are just the best.
Very displeased with my visit here for my pet. Came in w/ a cat having seizures and left with a large bill and zero answers and no treatment.. Was told to go somewhere else. My animal wasnt even given anything to stop the seizures- I do not recommend this place at all. I went to a different facility and my cat was given Keppra to stop the seizures and they have not happened since- Thankfully.

2022-01-24If I could give this place more than five stars I absolutely would. This is my first time going to this vet. Also a first time dog owner. They made it as easy as could be. They were all very kind and compassionate towards myself and my dog. They made injections and blood work a breeze for Waylon! They were gentle and kind! They treated my dog (Waylon) like there own! When it came down to the billing aspect of it the lady was kind enough to show me how much it will be with each thing broken down. I wasnt talked into anything extra and they did explain that I could even take care of things over time I didnt have to do everything in one day. They were very knowledgeable and had answers to every question I had. I will absolutely go back. I can not thank you all enough for your kindness. We appreciate you! Thank you! Waylon says thank you for all the pets love and cookies 🐾

2022-08-19I dont think 5 stars is enough for this wonderful vet. Our pup had a wound that got infected and it was getting worse quickly.. our regular vet couldnt get him in and they only said to call the following day for a chance to get one of the 4 urgent care spots - but not a guarantee. I know my dog needed antibiotics and fast... I called around and Countryside was able to get him in same day (we werent even their clients yet). Took my dog in and we were taken into a room as soon as we checked in, only took a few mins for a tech to come in and then maybe 10 mins for the doctor. The whole process from beginning to end was amazing. The tech ( cannot remember her name) was so great! She made me feel so comfortable and was so sweet to my dog. The doctor was so sweet too and took great care of my poor boy. I was also expecting a very large bill, but not at all - was very reasonable. We are definitely switching to this wonderful place!

2022-06-09The doctor and staff are super friendly, as this was a difficult day as I had to put my 13 year old baby/ dog/ side kick down as it was his time, he had gotten so he was having accidents in the house and needed assistance to even drink his water, so it was his time to venture over the rainbow Bridge and the staff was very understanding and fit us in to their busy schedule! Which I was greatful for!!!!!

2022-07-02I came in with our new puppy for an initial check up, shots, and to get established with a Veterinarian. Dr. Benson was very kind and gentle with our new pet. She took the time to explain, give insight, helpful tips, and answered all of my questions!

2022-06-20Always a warm welcome. Even after getting their shots & crying all the way home, my babies still love this place. I thought I would have a hard time getting them to go in. Their more scared of the car ride. 😆 🤣

2021-10-28After two different vets, and not being completely happy or comfortable with either, I found Countryside and felt completely at ease! The staff was amazing, the building is so clean, and the vet was perfect!! I am so happy to have found them for my fur babies, and plan to continue to use them from here on out. Great clinic!!

2022-06-06Called to schedule an appointment and were on hold for over a half hour. Finally scheduled the appointment and the vet called back a half hour later because they decided they didnt want to do that. Incredibly unprofessional

2021-11-10Highly recommend. Always been very polite and helpful. Theyve always asked questions AND listened to the answers, and treated my dog well. Been going there for 5 to 6 years and never a bad experience. Rookie runs in there every time with no hesitation. UPDATE: We lost Rookie in May. The emotional support we received from all the staff during this time was amazing! Two months later, when we adopted a shelter dog, the first thing I did upon getting home was to make an appointment with Countryside. Just as in the past, Sandie was welcomed with both open arms and open hearts. She is now part of the family both at home, and when she goes to the vet. Thank you to all the Doctors and Staff for the way you work and communicate with not only all the pet parents, but with the pets themselves. Kudos to you all

2021-11-27Great staff! They are struggling with staff right now like everybody else. Sometimes wait times can be a little longer, so I just try to factor that into my visit. They are so good with my dogs that I couldn’t imagine going else where.
