For a slowly dying “mall” that houses a dollar store and a Goodwill of all things, it really takes some major audacity to ban the mall walkers (local elderly individuals trying to stay active and healthy who started when the mall itself initiated a mall walking program some 40 years ago). These people represent a majority of your daily foot traffic. It won’t be long before your doors are permanently shuttered.P.S. When attempting to reach out via telephone, the number listed for the mall is disconnected. That’s a good sign.😂
This little mall is trying to stay afloat. It offers some box stores that a big brand names. The Genesee District Library has moved in and its awesome. Its renting a few large areas offering not only books but a huge computer lab. You really need to check this out. Theres a few smaller businesses as well. Also a lot of walkers so that they have a safe , warm and dry place to stay fit. Its a bonus for it to be here in Burton.
The company that runs this mall is worthless. Been lifelong resident of this community they have not brought in no new businesses at this mall in years. They are just waiting for their tax credits to run out, then they will close it. They wont even let senior mall walkers walk though it.
The staff here are ruuuuuuude! Extra rude. Started yelling at everyone to clean the place in the back. Got snotty at multiple people who had just arrived and wouldnt help clean up other peoples mess. It was weird. The party place is nice though so 4 stars. They need more respectful staff.
I am sad it doesnt have the same stores and JCPenney is 1/2 the size, really miss part years experiences. Sign of the times. However I do visit for certain things and enjoy the resturant connected to the building. Plus the other businesses connected, Jo Anns, Staples. We need more face to face less online.
I havent been here in about 10 years, and it hasnt changed a lot. We stopped in at El Cozumel for dinner, and just peeked into the mall afterward. The parking lot could really use repaving, its awfully rough, and has a lot of potholes. Otherwise the building seems to be kept up nicely.
The only store I visit in this mall is Bath & Body Works because one by one, the stores have closed. Its sad to see it, but seems to be happening with all of the malls around the Flint area. Downtown Flint is starting to thrive again.I will add that the Flint Public Library and Sloan Museum are a welcome sight in the Courtland Mall as their temporary homes until their permanent locations in the Flint Cultural Center are complete.
Michigan has been dragged through a knot hole and it shows. This mall is barely hanging on by a thread. If you need something from one of the anchor stores like Joanns or Dunhams, get in and get out. Theres a Goodwill store thats big and very well stocked but seems out of place there.
Well if you want a museum, public library, fantastic Mexican food, gym (currently closed due to covid), used goods, a dumpy little movie theater or a place to walk out of the weather this is the place for you. Great scenic views or an empty fountain or darkened empty storefronts topped off with a few little shops. It is a great place to reminisce about the glory days of hanging with your friends at the mall. Bonus to all this is Bath and Body Works seems to be the busiest place in the mall and it smells nice.
I know Ive rated this place lower than other places but, hear me out. There are a few valid reasons as to why I dont really like this place. Lets start with the people. There is not a light of people who come here. So it is not a public setting that I really enjoy. The place looks weird and the build is weird. The layout of the museum isnt the best in any sense. So, I rate this place lower than usual. Recommend for ages 4-14.
Courtland Center is surprisingly not at dead as most have been thinking for years now. I work at the Magoos Pet Outlet, which moved from its old location about a year ago. We still make sure all our customers are happy and satisfied. The other stores and restaurants located in the same area are wonderful as well.
Definitely by far the best experience Ive had at Great Clips in a very long time Haylee in my eyes is definitely in one of the top employees there that really knows how to cut some hair and plus she kept the conversation interesting the whole time I will definitely be going back
Courtland Center has been a mainstay in my life since I was a young man. theyre still up and thriving in the south side of Flint off East Court Street, they have plenty of stores to choose from including JCPenney (which is one of my favorites) Lots of different stores for different occasions and parking is very ample, the mall is very clean and free from loiterers or solicitors, you just get an all-around genuine good shopping experience!
You may ask yourself, “how is this place still open?” Well, most of it isn’t. 75% of shops have closed and what’s left is a rather sad and let’s say “eclectic” collections of randomness. When you have to turn a major retail chain into a museum something is wrong. Planet Fitness takes up what used to be several stores and the movie theater is still hanging in there somehow. All of the kiosks that used to be in the center aisles have been gone for nearly 5 years and this place serves mostly as a walking space for the avid mall walkers.I predict it won’t last another decade, but it could take longer to finally kill this beast of a building. Whatever reason you have to come here you can typically get somewhere else without feeling like you’re in a run down apocalyptic brick and mortar retail graveyard.2 stars for the memories I had of coming here 15 years ago.
This place is dead, 75% closed. Unless you want a Dunhams, JC Penney, Joanne Fabrics, or Staples, dont bother for shopping. That said, I love the services that have moved in. The Sloan museum exhibits is great for the kids and cost almost nothing. The Planet Fitness is also cheap and open all the time, very convenient. The movie theater isnt as good as many but matinees are only $5.00.
This once vibrant shopping center is now a ghost town with less than a dozen stores and a movie theater. The positive is that this mall made the Ghost Malls show. Its a great place for indoor walking as there are rarely shoppers to get in the way of a walker. The most thriving stores are JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts, Staples, and an athletics store - all with exterior entrances connected to the shopping center.Parking is never a problem. The parking lots and facility are well maintained and clean.
Great Stores in The Cortland Center Mall.. Here is a great Place to Walk..And Relax . Lots of Stores in the Cortland Center..There is Staples, Dunhams & Joannes. The Good Will Thrift Store, The Sloan Museum, The Flint Public Library. And more. Shop Local. Buy Local. There is still different Stores to choose from in The Cortland Center. The Cortland Center is still Open to the Public even with The COVID 19. Pandemic Virus Reopening of Businesses from after the COVID 19 Lockdowns & Shutdowns. Support Michigan & the Cities of Flint & Burton.
The security guard is completely a joke. I demand her to be fired! I was walking inside the mall doing some shopping and I heard yelling by the nail salon. There was a trashy lady yelling and damaging the supplies in there. The security guard did absolutely nothing, she didn’t even try to stop her or get her information. Very unprofessional, I will never come back knowing their ‘security guard’ can’t even try to keep things under control. I encourage others to not come here and report the security guard at the time. Can’t even feel safe here anymore
I love the NCG cinema here. We just saw Black Panther on opening day and it was really great. This was a big opening movie and the staff made sure the place was spic-n-span before our movie. The 3D movies was awesome, great sound, great picture quality, and super great prices! This place is such an asset to our community!
This nearly abandoned ball only has a few stores that still survive. It is a shell the thousands of memories and a throwback to the eighties when it was great. It is entertaining to once in awhile wander down these old Halls now taken over by the power walkers over the area. You can be overcome with nostalgia.
Three-quarters of the mall is vacant...absolutely nothing there anymore. All thats left are JCPenney, the Sloan Museum, the theater, Dunhams, JOANN, Staples, Goodwill, Planet Fitness, and a few mom and pop stores. Vitamin World and Kay Jewelers were among their latest losses. The entire mall is grossly mismanaged and went downhill in just a matter of years. I remember back in the early to mid-1990s when the mall was filled to the max with absolutely no empty tenants. Now, its a ghost mall.
Got kicked out of the mall by security for “loitering” after going to goodwill and sitting down in the mall. I was trying to look up information about the library moving because I saw a lot of people in that area but couldn’t find the main entrance. I was in the mall for less than a half an hour according to my receipt. I will never go there again. Very unwelcoming.
Went there since I was a kid. Used to throw pennies in the fountain. They have some nice stores. A movie theater with good prices, a huge Goodwill, a fitness center, an all you can eat buffet, also they have the best Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to, and so much more. Used to be many businesses in this mall years ago. Makes me sad! Although its a great place to go, i hope it can get back to the way I used to be.
Some spots were mostly cleared of snow. One plow was more interested in doing donuts and almost hitting cars than working. Would be nice if actually cleared where driveway is and not where ever they want to drive. Piles of snow put where people park instead of being put to sides.
This mall is mostly empty so unless you going here for a specific store its weird to just walk around. I like the goodwill and how there is access to the mall, i wish the other big stores had access to the mall. The sloan museum they put there looks cool havent been yet but it is supposed to be free for certian residents (check online). The movie theater is good and i if i remember correctly they have special showings for special needs audiances for certian shows (again check availability). Such vacancy would be nice to see mor done with this space, things like the museum.
I always enjoyed coming here as a kid. I wonder if they would let me have a space to have a dance studio here? It would be great. Drop your kids off at dance and go do some shopping! :-) I miss the hustle and bustle tho. The place is a bit quiet. But still nice. :-) However, we once were threated to be removed simply for trying to take a family picture in front of an empty Easter display. We hadnt trespassed. We were just standing in front of plants and security told us we were not allowed to take pictures or we would be banned. Wow. Ummmmm, ok. Ban the only customers you had that day. Alrighty then. We were told we may be stealing their Easter display decorating ideas for another store. Lol Ummmmmmm. Hmmmmmmm.
This mall has great potential, however it lacks the stores needed to be a great place to shop. The few stores that are there seem to hold their own without the traffic usually associated with a mall. The area even seems to do fairly well. Maybe it’s a management issue?
The mall that time forgot. Most of the stores in it are permanently closed. This mall is as busy as the mall in Dawn of the Dead pre-zombie infestation. Only saving grace for this place is the El Cozumel restaurant, which thankfully does not require you to go through the abandoned mall to get to.
Nothing in here worth going to except the theater and Goodwill. Its literally the only Goodwill in the county that Ive found good deals at, every other one just sells garbage. Still waiting for the new owners to bring more business to this mall like they promised several years ago now.
They have a lot off stores but what else do you expect from a mall also their planet fitness is dope I used to go there before I figured that I enjoyed being fat but I digress. Furthermore there payless is going out of business so you can get great deals there. Their sloan museum is great for kids under the age of ten. Their JC penny is amazing it has wonderful clothes for kids women and men.
Barely anything left in there. Dunhams has major issues with shoplifting, per an employee there. Their employees are so unprofessional in the way the speak to and/or ignore their customers. Even the stores that still exist in there seem picked over. Not much to like about this place. Its sad because it used to be a thriving business, now just looks like its on its last leg. Its a shame.
When I was a kid I used to love to go to this place but now it is a hole in the wall that needs to be burned down ghetto as hell hardly any stores in there I would never recommend anyone to go to Courtland Center Mall it is a s******* Mall anymore they need to just do the right thing and tear it down why go to this place when you can go to Genesee Valley thats a lot better mall or you can go to Great Lakes Crossing which is well worth the drive if youre from Flint if I was you I would avoid at all costs Courtland Center Mall
Unfortunately most of the stores I used to shop at are closed here now. UPDATE SLOAN MUSEUM IS NOW HAVING EVENTS THERE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. a millage was passed and now the events are very very cheap or free for Genesee county residents.MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.
I havent shopped at this mall in years. Stopped in one day because it was near my location for a quick trip to JCP. I was very disappointed. It took me two trips around the store to find anyone to help me. The rest of the mall looked abandoned. I asked the employee at JCP if the mall had a Bath and Bodyworks, on my way there I found out that was only one of like three other stores still left in the mall. Im so surprised it can stay open like that. Then the two employees at Bath and Bodyworks were rude and not helpful at all. I will never shop there again, I dont care if its in the area. Ill drive all the way back to my regular shopping mall!
Went to the Coutland Cinema ... I love this little cinema .... prices are reasonable! ... they are cheaper than Rave or Trillium. .. really good popcorn plus popcorn seasonings too ... there consession prices are way cheaper than the other 2 theaters too ... the theater is kept clean and staff are friendly ... highly recommended
Went to Penneys for black friday early, they wouldnt let us go through mall to Bath and Body works. Had gate closed said Mall didnt open till 9am. Mall mgt didnt let thm know dunhams and bath & body works opened when they did. Had to drive back to other side of mall. Poor mgt.
My daughter and myself and my grandbaby was out there to visit the Sloan Museum and he had a terrific time with the Dinosaurs which is actually his favorite is he was just amazed at how large they were and he still talks about that even to the day thank you so much for bringing the snow Museum to The Courtland Mall added addition.
I went to the Courtland NCG cinema on the back end of the center, and it looks a bit run down. What makes it great is its super cheap movie tickets, especially if youre a student, but inside it looks run down and sketch. My friend and I went to a movie showing at 9pm and there was a cop stationed inside...why did they need a cop? Was kind of concerned. Dont think Ill be going back at night time, just day showings
Not many good stores leftI only pop into the courtland center togo tanning at the Planet Fitness (which is nice) employees arent as friendly as they are at the Genesse Valley Flint location but at this location they offer laydown tanning beds && the stand up tanners are of better quality.. Other then the tanning I prefer the Flint location
Wish they would put more stores in Courtland Center and get that place hopping again! Its sad to see it bare with generic stores. Its about as bad as Dort Mall now. Seriously, the only thing good about Courtland Center is El Cozumel and the cheap theatre!!! Dunhams and JC Penney are ok too.
The Courtland is really not the place you want to go for shopping anymore. Most of the stores in the actual mall are closed, there are still a few anchor stores open such as JCPenney, and Dunhams. Planet Fitness is really a good attraction to go to The Courtland Center, The Courtland Cinema is also a decent attraction. Without those two things The Courtland Center would not really offer much of anything anymore, El Cozumel is also a popular and good restaurant. Which I am sure attracts customers to The Courtland Center.
When I went back to Courtland Mall from years of going there it almost looks like a ghost Mall most of the stores are closed up I want to say that maybe five stores in the whole Mall JCPenneys be in the biggest one there no shoe stores not really much clothing stores besides JCPenneys I rather go to Genesee Valley
I use to love this place when it was Eastland Mall, it is so sad to see everything closing up...i was so excited when Plant fitness moved in ...i thought that more stores would come back, make an exit out of the fitness place so after a wkout you could go out and window shop...what a great way to get people shopping again in the mall.
A diversity of stores like GNC WITH good prices in the center court they have lounge chairs with a coin slot for vibration massage 1 $ for 3 minutes bring 5$ they are fantastic when you are done you can take on the world it has massage that goes up and down you must try these keep back against the chair
I will no longer go in this mall nor the Planet Fitness there very unsafe. I had my car broken into after days of the same event happening I had no warning from PF to be careful of leaving belongings in car while working out. Security was unprepared for this and I had to wait 24 hours to hear back and never got anything back or response from police which also has a station in the mall!
The best thing about Courtland Center is the movie theater and El Cozumel. Well and the JCPenney location on the end. Besides that this mall is very vacant. The theater has student tickets for $4 each any time of day and El Cozumel has some of the best Mexican food in the area.
Courtland Center Mall (Built in 1967 and used to be Eastland Mall until 1987 when they changed the name). Burton became a city because of this mall in 1972. With our new owners sprucing the place up; this clean mall with opportunity for growth. 200 walkers a day walk around the 1/2 mile mall, Enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and where you can get away from the busy streets and walk and meet friends for lunch.

2022-06-22Was very clean, but overall most of the mall is closed. The security guard followed me around and told me I couldnt take photos or videos of the mall... definitely felt like I was pushed to just leave rather than spend money

2022-04-17Remembering how it use to be in my childhood, this place has really declined. The stores that are hanging on by a thread I greatly appreciate! Im sure bath n body works, Jc Penny, and El cozumel are whats keeping the place open.

2020-02-04We come to the Sloan Museum regularly with our two boys, 6 and 8. There is always so much to do and see for the kids, and all hands on and fun based learning activities...keeps them busy half the day! This was our first visit to this temp location at Courtland Center but we are very excited for the new museum to open! The plans for it look amazing. If you are a Genesee Co resident you cannot beat the price so go check it out and have some fun.

2022-02-23This mall used to be so busy, now the only thing keeping them open is the Mexican restaurant, bath and body works, and jcpennys. The mall itself is very clean and well maintained, however it feels like a ghost town in there. So sad, it has great potential!

2018-10-06Wow! Back in the day this mall was relatively busy. But now it only has a hand full of businesses operating out of it(JCPenney, Dunhams, GNC, Bath & Body, and a few others). There is a Sloan Museum exhibit, but Im not sure if its permanent or just temporary. It was closed when I visited the mall. Theres definitely not a lot of shoppers to contend with. At least its being maintained. Its actually a little sad to see all the vacant space.

2022-01-02Its a real shame mall management is trying to close the place down. It was busy in the past. Much more enjoyable than Genesee and Great Lakes. If I only had the money, Id make this place hopping again.Shame on the city of Burton for allowing this area to go belly up.

2019-08-07Courtland Center is trying to come back! Having the Sloan Museum is really helping rebuild this mall. Don’t forget the Sloan Museum is free for all Genesee County Residents!! Great place for younger and older kids!!

2022-04-25Shame Shame is almost surprising this place still exists. I engender it being full of life as a child and now its a ghost town. Might as well pack it in people
