Incredible staff. There is not too many businesses I feel comfortable coming right inside my home. The guys got right to work. Truly impressed with the work they did for us. They relocated our Furnace setup to the basement. They installed a new furnace, replaced old duct work and put in a new a/c unit. They were extremely thorough and I would trust this company with any future repair. Thank you!
Within a couple hours of contacting Crome Mechanical Heating & Cooling, I already had a representative out servicing my unit. He was quick and professional. Most importantly, he explained everything to me in a way that I could actually understand. They are affordable and local, what more can you ask for. With owning a house, you know it’s a matter of time until something goes wrong, so I will definitely be using them again!
Crome Mechanical was way overpriced and completely invented a problem that DID NOT exist in my grandmothers furnace! The company is listed in the newsletter provided to the residents in Leisure Village, a mobile home park for 55+ and I feel that they were trying to take advantage of my grandmother. I was quoted $356 to replace a $40 part, then when the technician was at my grandmothers home, he called to tell me that there was another problem and said that she needed to replace her furnace. I got a second opinion and found another reputable company to perform the repair for more than a hundred dollars difference, and they didnt see the other issue that was brought up by the Crome technician. The Crome technician mentioned leaking carbon monoxide so to be safe, I bought an additional detector. There was no detection of carbon monoxide. This experience was very disappointing.
I was very impressed with the efficiency of the crew that installed a new furnace and a/c. It was readily apparent (through watching them work) that this crew had excellent technical skills. Each person seemed to have a specific skill-set that he used to completely support the work of each of the other crew members. I never saw them take a break or just goof off for a little while--although it was obvious that each person enjoyed working! with the rest of the crew. This, it seems to me, is what professionalism looks like in action! I am delighted with their work at my home!
Great experience. Its a family run biz and got to speak with Todd and Wendi at different steps of the process. Both are professional and make sure their suggestions line-up with our needs. Was referred to them through Costco. Solid install and the staff were really respectful of our home and make sure to debrief us after the install. Would recommend them for sure!-Just had Brian out for an annual AC check-up and he was on-time, friendly, and professional. He also let me know to anticipate a deep clean for next years check-up due to all the cottonwood in our area.
I had Crome come out for a winter heating inspection and Brian noticed that a motor was sounding loud/rough. I had the motor replaced before the motor went out. The service was done in a timely manner and I received communication along the way. I have used Crome for my AC also and have found them to be professional, quick and reasonably priced.
Crome gave a very fair price on an entire HVAC system. They scheduled the work quickly and around my schedule. Workers showed up on time and called prior to arrival. They did not leave a mess for me to clean up later and were prompt in making minor adjustments afterwards. I would not hesitate to do business with them in the future.
I cant thank them enough for the fast, efficient, knowledgeable service that they provided. our air went out during the extreme heat wave this summer(2020) We called a different company and they wanted 8000.00 to replace both the ac and the furnace. they wanted between 1000.0-1500.00 to fix the leak and recharge the system and then another charge to come back in a month to check it. and then there was still no guarantee on their part so we declined I was referred to crome mechanical by a trusted friend. they came out when said they would, diagnosed it and fix it way cheaper than I ever thought possible. thank you Todd you have a customer for life.
Professional, kind, and helpful staff. They showed up on time and prepared to do the job they promised in a timely manner. Left the area they worked in clean and made sure I was happy with the AC unit!! They made the entire process very smooth right from the start!! Cant say enough good about them!!
Scheduled an appointment to have my AC fixed. The morning of the appointment, at the end of the service window, the technician calls only to tell me he doesn’t service my unit. Really the fault of the office woman who scheduled my appointment and knew the condo building I live in and stated they could service it. Don’t waste your time with this fly by night company.
Another great experience with Crome Mechanical.Today we had our hot water heater replaced. In Dec of 2018 we had to have our Furnace replaced (unexpectedly) they supplied us with space heaters until they arrived to to complete job.Totally professional group of service techs from start to finish. Would recommend these guys for any heating or cooling issues.
Cromes technicians were knowledgeable and mapped out the right system for our heating and cooling needs. The installers were courteous, efficient, and had us up and running quickly. I was also impressed with the follow up calls and visits to insure we were happy. I would definitely recommend them.

Crome Mechanical charged me for A/C inspection that was never done. The technician said I was short 2 pounds of refrigerant and wanted to charge me $200! I called a local HVAC guy to come over 30min later to reinspect and he tested the coolant with me watching a showed that my coolant was 100% full .What a fraud bogus company! And the owner was nasty when I called her about it.
Sean is very thorough and explains everything that he inspects and the maintenance he preforms.I had a no heat issue and they responded same day dispite that it is the beginning of deer hunting season.I used to use another company for the last 10 years, but I am switching to Crome for my HVAC maintenance needs, they are reliable, honest, and a good service!
I called Crome to perform and annual system maintenance on my furnace, a/c, and hot water heater. My primary focus was on the furnace. A representative of Crome came to my home, evaluated/checked my furnace, and recommended I purchase a new furnace because of the noise it was making and condition. He did not provide and solution for the noise other than the new furnace. This recommendation would have cost me $4,000.00, if followed.I purchased a new blower fan and tightened up a few loose ends and the furnace in much quieter and performs well. This home fix cost me $130.00.The inspection was less than other furnace maintenance/insulation companies. However, Im glad I did independent follow up on Cromes visit.
The entire staff at Crome Mechanical were nothing but pleasant and a pleasure to work with! Brian and Austin did a great job installing our new furnace and air unit and their attention to detail was impeccable! I will most definitely refer them to any and all that have heating and cooling needs!
Very pleased with the services of Crome Mechanical Heating and Cooling! They were able fit a new furnace installation into their schedule almost immediately and did a great job. They offered a very competitive price, and the whole team was knowledgeable and courteous.
Very good service. Neat and polite workers. They loaned me some space heaters for a couple days. Then did not charge me for the original call. They took out my old furnace, put in a new one, and replaced the roof jack all in just a few hours. Excellent work. I would definitely use them again, and I WILL highly recommend them.
I was connected to this company through Costco’s program for a new ac unit. After I accepted the quote, the owner looked at my furnace and told me he would not give us service unless we also got a new furnace also (8000 more for the quote). When I asked him why, after multiple times, his exact answer was that we would be angry when our furnace broke down in the winter and we would have to wait to have it fixed. He was rude and pushy and angry when I questioned him. Felt like a definite up sell and I will be reporting this to Costco also.In response to the owner: yes, it is an old furnace, but we have had it serviced yearly and still have one more year on a parts warranty. Vredevoogd did not agree that it was necessary to replace. I was not informed that simply having an old furnace is criteria for replacement. Also, when I questioned you directly on whether having a new ac unit would harm the furnace, you did not confirm that. Again, the reasoning I was given for need for replacement was that “it might break this winter”. I would also disagree with the fact that you “respected my decision” to go with another company. They tone of the conversation was extremely uncomfortable, pushy and rude. My husband was listening on speakerphone (without the salesperson being aware), and he was also appalled by the conversation. We would not have gone with this company even if they didn’t mark up the cost by 8000, simply based on customer service.
7/17/2019 - The installation crew was on time, professional and did an excellent job. Following a thorough job on installation, the clean-up exceeded expectations, and the crew took the time to explain the function/operation of the A/C equipment in detail. I am very happy to say that I have relied on Crome Mechanical for the past few years. Always pleased with their quick response time with my hot water heater on Christmas Eve and now my furnace. The installers were very professional and did an excellent job meeting our requests. Installation was performed in a timely fashion, clean-up after the job was complete and thorough, and the function/operation of the equipment was explained in detail. Very happy with Chrome Mechanical and would recommend them for heating and A/C needs.
We called for an appointment and we were scheduled for that very afternoon. Brian arrived at our house, on time and found the problem immediately. Air conditioner stopped blowing cold over the weekend. Called Chrome and by Monday afternoon Brian A. showed up at my house. Within 10 minutes Brian had the problem diagnosed and the repair completed. A relatively inexpensive electrical part needed to be swapped out. Really appreciate the honesty of Chrome, they could have told me I needed a new air conditioner unit and I would not have known the difference.

I was so disappointed with my service from Chrome Mechanical Inc. Here is my experience:I am a hard-working, single-mom of three kids. Our furnace went out on Black Friday, but I waited until Monday morning to call due to the holiday. The scheduling people I talked to were so kind and helpful, they said they could schedule me that afternoon—which was perfect! I gave them my unit name, make/model and serial number. They told me between 11-3 they would arrive. My dad agreed to wait at my house since I was working. At 3:15 PM I called the company back because I had not heard anything from them and we were past our window of time. After I called, a person called back and said he had me on the schedule for the next day, not that afternoon. I knew there had been a mistake because the options they gave me were either that afternoon or the next morning. Thankfully, he agreed to still come out that same day as we had been without heat for nearly 4 days at that point.He arrived and asked me to turn up the thermostat and I followed him down to the unit. Once at the bottom of the stairs, without ever touching the unit to determine what was wrong he said “You told me it was a new unit! This is obsolete. I’m not touching that”. I was confused. I gave the schedulers the info on my furnace as well as what I thought the issue was. I’ve owned my house for 5 years, at inspection they told me the unit was new so I was only going off the info that I had. He continued, “this is 30 years old. It’s been here longer than I’ve been doing this work. I’m not wrenching on that and I wouldn’t let any of my guys wrench on it either”. I was shocked. He wouldn’t look at it, tell me what was wrong, diagnose it or anything. He then told me that if I replaced any parts, the next would surely go out and he’s not doing it. There was even a comparison about a home he had been in earlier that day filled with CO2 and this would surely do the same thing. To try and make light of this, I tried to joke “ok, let’s say I don’t have $1,000 for a new furnace right now, what would you recommend”. His response: “it’s more like $4,000 and I don’t know what to tell you. I’m the owner of this company and I’m not touching it and I wouldn’t let any of my guys either”. And then he left.Please hear me, I’m not a foolish person. I own an older home, I am aware at some point it would need updating. But this is not how you break this news to a customer—particularly without even looking at the unit.Thankfully this story has a happy ending. Grand Rapids Heating and Cooling Inc came out today and repaired it in 30 minutes. The guy was totally kind and professional and talked me through each step. They also recommended a replacement and I 100% will be giving them my money for the new unit. This is why customer service matters.I would not recommend Chrome Mechanical to anyone. There are plenty of other local companies, like GR heating and cooling inc. and West Shore Mechanical, that both agreed to come out and help.
The service was exactly at the promised time and the technician was very professional. After the service was complete, the technician took the time to see if we had any other concerns. I mentioned something my wife had noticed about the operation of our furnace and within a few minutes, the source of the concern was found and we now have a plan to replace something that is showing signs of something that after almost 2 decades of service can cause trouble. By taking care of it before potential failure, we are saving both money and potential discomfort for needing possibly an after hours emergency service call.The part that will be replaced seems to be only in the beginning phase of going bad and we have a little time to get it done on or schedule. We will continue to use the vendor for all of our home climate needs.
Overall, a happy customer. I was referred via Costco. Great system at a good price. I felt there was a few customer service opportunities along the way that I have discussed with Chrome. The owner Todd ensured my package was correct to receive the full Costco cash card after a prior employee errored. I plan to use them for all my HVAC work in the future, I would recommend!
I just had a state of the art modulating 98% efficient, Lennox furnace and A/C installed by Crome. Id contacted nine HVAC companies and had five onsite surveys (Im an engineer and I ask a lot of questions). Crome had by far the best value so I went with them, but I kept an eye open to see how they performed. The answer was, very well. They actually were able to install the system two days ahead of schedule, they cleaned up after themselves completely, and the performance of the new system is impeccable. The eveness of heating between floors and among rooms is remarkable. Also, there was absolutely no creepiness factor to the installers or their follow-up inspector. I was both impressed and comfortable with Crome.
I set up an appointment to have our furnace looked at and the technician was late so I ended up speaking with the owner, Todd, I believe is his name. When I told him we had a home warranty, he didnt even want to come and look at the furnace to see what was wrong with it, because the warranty companies are a bait and switch operation he told me. I had also told him our furnace was 25-30 plus years old so wed likely need the whole thing replaced even if it wasnt covered by our warranty. He still kept giving me the run around of not wanting to come and look at it. Today we had it inspected, and we will be replacing the entire thing. And our warranty will be paying for a portion unlike what Todd told me! Happy to be giving our business to a different company that came out within an hour to look at our furnace and get us a quote.

I would highly recommend Crome Mechanical. I needed a new furnace and they got me on the schedule fast. It didnt take long for them to install the new one and take out the old one. They cleaned up any mess they made and they were very helpful and professional. I had questions after and they respond very fast. I will keep using them.

I highly recommend CMHC not just because of the professional work they have done for my rental property but the awesome customer service. Sean the service tech who performed my required Grand Rapids HVAC inspection certification and later repaired a part on the furnace was engaging, friendly and professional. You could tell this guy knew and loved what he does for a living. Gave me confidence that I hired a good honest company to work with. The HVAC contractor I had been using for years is highly rated, but their costs have increased beyond what I feel is reasonable. CMHCs costs are very fair and more inline with other contractors. Kayla in the office who Ive never met, was equally wonderful to deal with. Really understood my situation with the rental property and worked to make everything happen to my satisfaction. Experiencing glitchy problem with my A/C start-up. Brian, Crome Service Tech, called saying he was available sooner than scheduled & on his way. Talk about professional. Attempting to diagnose my A/C problem, Brian walked me through every check he was performing and why he was doing it. I loved it! Such transparency from a Service Tech of any ilk is rare indeed. My A/C problem was solved in short order. I especially appreciated a call-back from the office 2 days later to see if everything was still ok and in working order. Thanks Crome, you are now our HVAC go-to guys!

Guy was 4 hrs early. Told me I needed a new furnace before seeing it. Seemed highly inconvenienced. Owners response to bad reviews is very unprofessional. I’d hire somebody that is more in touch with reality. These guys are just furnace salesmen. I wouldn’t hire a furnace salesman to come troubleshoot my furnace. Bet the owner leaves another unprofessional response to this too. Just wait for it. I can see why the rep they sent out acted the way he did. They are mirroring their leadership. Not good.
We moved to a “new” old home. During one of the hottest weeks on record our air conditioning quit. Todd was the only one to answer our call. Pulled his crew from vacation time to put in a new air conditioner. Two weeks later the water heater began leaking flooding our basement after hours. Todd had me send a video then walked me through the repair. No charge, no emergency fees, just support to fix a problem. He has my business for life.

Terrible! Please read through! So i had Todd from Chrome out to my house to look at a furnace that was malfunctioning. He did not bring his tool bag into my house and he was already telling me I needed a new furnace on his way down to the basement. He didnt go within 5 feet of the furnace and would not even look into it. The only thing he wanted to talk about was selling me a new furnace. He kept telling me my furnace was not repairable. He asked me for my credit score and asked if I knew anybody who would loan me $5,000 to buy a new furnace from him. I told him NO WAY! He then knocked $1,400 off that price and said can you do it now? I told him that we werent going to be doing any business and he left. I then called All Phase appliance to come look at the furnace and they had it fixed that very day. So much for my unfix-able furnace huh Todd. Its been running great ever since.This guy was a furnace salesman coming to look at my furnace. And go figure he told me I needed a new one, from him. Seriously didnt even bring tools in. I still have all my paperwork from Todd saying unfix-able then All phase came in and fixed it for next to nothing the same day.Oh yea! and get this! When I told him my home inspector said my furnace looks great when I bought the house 2 years ago, Todd told me yea well thats why home inspectors are home inspectors, they arent smart enough to keep a real job! How Rude and unprofessional is this guy! I dont recommend having this representative from Chrome out to your house. Do yourself a favor, if youre going through Chrome, specifically ask for NOT TODD HURST!Check out the owners response. haha hes just as professional as Todd.Never explained why Todd didnt bring tools in. Called four companies to fix our AC when it quit in 90 degree heat. The one that bothered to return my message told me that their emergency tech would be out in four days. Crome, my fifth call, answered right away. They were prompt and courteous, and had a skilled tech out to our house within a few hours on a weekend with no extra emergency charge. Awesome. Theyll always be my first call from here on out!
Its a cold Sunday in December and my furnace died. Within a couple of hours, someone was out to take a look. Owner, Todd saw that unit was clearly gone. No surprise as the furnace is 30 years old. He immediatey worked up an estimate and a date for installation.The technicians were professional and courteous. They finished the installation in the time they promised. Both RJ and Ryan both went beyond what I wouo ld consider normal service. RJ painted an area that showed mildew behind the old furnace. On site, Ryan created a section of vent with a place for easy removal of the air filter. I was impressed by both.I am thouroughly satisfied with everything from start to finish and recommend this group.
Called them out due to an emergency and they were the first to answer at 1am. My boiler went out in the early morning hours during the polar vortex experienced which meant no heat/hot water (radiant floor heat), so they came out and took a look. Determined it was too old to bother with, told me it would be difficult if not impossible to find parts and that the cost of them would be prohibitive. I feel they took advantage of my situation, and attempted to sell me on a $12,000 dollar replacement boiler system because they could do that as early as the next day otherwise I could be waiting weeks for them to find a part which they doubted they could find due to the age of the boiler.Well I dont spend anything over $1500 without 2 or 3 opinions. I had 2 other companies out who looked and told me the boiler was in great shape and it would be ridiculous at best to not replace the part. I was able to locate the PN from the parts list for my model, it took all of 10 minutes to order. The part cost $200.00.I got the part shipped next day air, spent the 10 minutes connecting it via 5 bolts and boom, boiler is working without issue.I would be cautious with this company, and get at least a 2nd opinion before spending an absurd amount of money no matter how desperate the situation seems.
Technician Spencer came to our home and was completely unprofessional and condescending. Lied to us saying that our consumers energy appliance repair plan would not cover the repairs. After calling back to consumers energy and finding out it was covered Chrome Mechanical was called again. The dispatcher called and yelled at my wife saying they had tried to contact Consumers 44 times to get an address. Well hello your on the phone with the owner why not just ask the address. Oh maybe look at the service ticket that has the address of the ticket. Then Spencer called and said your unit is too old and we are not going to work on this you need to have it replaced. When initially he stated during the visit that he would chemically clean the unit and replace the R22.
Super friendly and helpful staff! Went above and beyond in multiple instances that we needed them. During the polar vortex my family and I lost power, but Joe and his team were nothing but understanding and kind throughtout the whole process to get us up and running again in a timely manner.
Woke up to no hot water. Sean Kilger came several hours later and identified what was wrong. He did not have part with him, however made appointment for next day. Then Brian Atwood came ahead of schedule, replaced and all is well again! Crome Mechanical knows what they are doing!!! Cant say enough positive things about whole experience.
We called and told them what we thought the problem was, but we are not the experts- they came in and agreed with us on the problem and never did diagnostics. 30 minutes after they left we had to call another company to come and replace parts and properly fix it. Huge waste of money

2021-08-18Chrome Mechanical went above and beyond in my opinion to make sure we had the correct equipment and a good experience with their company they are honest and customer focused.We need new A/C in our home that did not have existing A/C so we contacted Chrome Mechanical after being referred to them by a family member. They came out to our home to look at our existing furnace and calculate the size of the unit we would need. They were very professional and respectful while at our home and did a great job educating us about what we would need and why we needed it to have A/C installed. After the initial consult they helped us arrange financing and set a date for the install. The day of the install the technicians were right on time and did a great job even going above and beyond by putting the unit exactly where we wanted it even though it resulted in more work for them. When they were done, we were extremely happy with their work, and I would HIGHLY recommend Chrome Mechanical to any of our friends and family...... BUT!We were not yet done with Chrome Mechanical. After the install was done it was in the 60s for 2+ weeks and we had no need to run the A/C we just had installed witch was disappointing. But then it got into the 90s and we turned it on and right away something seemed off. We would set the thermostat at 72 and the unit would run constantly and the house would not cool off in fact on the 90 degree days the temp would continue to rise, and on days it would be 74 and sunny out (our house sits in full sun all day) you could set the thermostat at 74 the same as the outdoor temp but the unit again would run nonstop and the inside temp would not get below 77 or 78. so I called Chrome to tell them what was happening and they sent out a technician that same day at 6:30 at night to accommodate my schedule. I was VERY impressed by this and grateful I did not have to take time off work to fit into their schedule, I very much felt like they put me the customer first. The technician that came out again was very respectful in our home and professional. He explained what could be going on and made a few adjustments explained what he did and told me to call again if I still had an issue. After a few days it was apparent that even though the adjustments he did helped we still were having issues, so I called back. I want to say that at this point I was petty worried about what was going to happen next because we had financed it and the install was done, I thought we were going to be stuck with what we had but I called them AGAIN and I was IMPRESSED by what they did next.Chrome Mechanical then sent out their top installer the guy in charge the main man to look at our equipment. When he came to the house we talked, and he took measurements of the system and set up and appointment for the very next day to have a larger unit installed! I fully expected to have to pay the additional cost for the bigger unit and would have to redo all the financing, but they took care of everything and installed a 3-ton unit to replace the previous 2 ton. Chrome Mechanical went above and beyond in my opinion to make sure we had the correct equipment and a good experience with their company they are honest and customer focused. I read all their reviews before writing mine and from what I can tell their honesty is clear even in negative reviews. I know that not every person’s experience is the same but what is consistent here is that Chrome is a business that focuses on positive customers experiences and honesty. Not everyone can make that claim these days, but they can.

2022-06-23Great company to do business with. We had our furnace replaced, air conditioning added, and ducts reworked. Gabe and Tanner installed all of this for me and kept me updated the whole time. Their craftsmanship with the ductwork was better than I could have imagined. Very happy with this company and will use them for all of my maintenance.

2022-07-28Brian A., Great Tech from a Great Company!I have a 100% satisfaction with Crome Mechanical in everything they have installed or serviced since I built this house - a Lennox furnace, Lennox central air, humidifier and two on demand water heaters. They have never let me down in any way at all. I find this happily amazing, actually. Today Brian A was out to do seasonal check up on the AC and to solve a problem that he immediately diagnosed - seriously, in about 20 seconds! He was neat and tidy, respectful, and efficient! People such as Brian are why we choose Crome for ALL our mechanical needs!

2022-03-08Our furnace went out on a Saturday night. We tried calling our regular HVAC company but they were not open. We called Cromes 24 hour hot line and they were very prompt and responsive. They had a repairman, Brian, out to our place in under 2 hours. He quickly diagnosed the issue and got our furnace up and running. Brian returned the next day at the exact time he said he would and made the repair in under a 1/2 an hour. Brian was very professional and answered all our questions. So we have officially decided to use Crome from now on.

2022-08-11Service man informed us our a/c unit was low and needed r-22. He added it!! We paid $350. He never mentioned anything about a leak or the reason it was low!! The next day our a/c didnt work!!! We called to let them know and we were told that it leaked out again!! When I asked why we were not informed that there may have been a leak in first place I was treated and talked to in a very disrespectful manner!! Being upset that I just wasted $350
