Comment: We had an amazing experience at this location. The owner was so kind, and talked us through the RV systems since we were first-timers and we felt comfortable and educated enough to operate the RV on our trip because of it. The prices are so fair, they dont charge you unfairly for anything. The owner was accommodating and is running a very upstanding business, I would highly recommend to anyone. We rented a 25ft RV, and it was in impeccable condition inside and out. Thank you for having us!!!

Comment: Although Lewis was a nice person-the experience was terrible. Arrived to a damaged and dirty RV. We were offered the one other, but told its much worse. Took time to note unmarked damages, and comment to husband was, shes quite the manager isnt she -we paid extra for liability because we didnt want to be held responsible for past damages. There were many damages I found unaccounted for on their check sheet. Lewis agreed the RV could have been better and he said he has addressed already in the past. The windshield was cracked. Its not a problem cuz it doesnt block the drivers view. We were told, to bring it back as is and it wont be a problem. Well, they found three tufts of fur and slammed us with $100 cleaning fee. Wouldnt you vacuum it anyway. We had cleaned the entire RV and must have missed a couple-it was cleaner than what we picked up. I find this liability and cleaning fee on their contract is a way to scam folks.The condition of the RV was unacceptable, but they left us in a pickle with reservations already settled on the road. We had rented once before, yrs ago, but never again would I rent from them, and I will tell others to make other choices.

Comment: Using Cruise America was truly a great experience!! From the very start making our reservations it was excellent customer service. We rented a 25 ft which sleeps 5. It had great space and was easy to drive. The RV its self was in excellent condition and was so nice to travel in. We called to set up our pick up time and they had our RV ready early in the morning per our special request so we could enjoy a full day on the first day. At pick up paper work went quickly and the tour of the RV and how to use it was informative and useful. We had a small issue with the outlet plug so we called the 800 # at our first stop. You are connected immediately with a rep and she talked us through our options. We chose to continue without the small repair but they were great at setting up with our options. They even reported the call to our drop off location for us. Great communication within which is an sign of a high level of customer service. The RV rental was an essential part to our adventure and it went above and beyond our expectations. Can wait to rent one again for our SW tour! Huge shout out to the team in San Mateo! They run an excellent business!!

I had to cancel my trip which cost me hundreds of dollars, not to say my family and I took the weeks off from work.The site manager Teresita was quite rude and didn’t even apologize when I asked for the refund. And she couldn’t even do the refund on her end. She said I had to contact Cruise America via email for my refund and I did. But now 18 days passed by I still haven’t got any reply.This is unbelievable and unacceptable!

The RV had a little wear and tear but we had no real problems. I got a sensor warning and they were willing to give me another RV. Comment: First timers renting Rv and it was awesome. The San Mateo location is very friendly and the Rv was clean and ran very well. We rented the standard size and it was not that hard to drive. Having own bathroom and shower is so relaxing and eliminates worry of finding hotel or restroom.The refrigerator kept our food/ice cream/ drinks cold whole time and hardly used much propane. We dumped our black and gray tanks in the rwc Rv park for $25 and then filled up gas before returning the Rv. Will do it again soon as the Rv experience is a lot of fun.The radio now has Bluetooth so you can play music from your iphone easy while it charges on the drive - nice.

The RV had a few bumps and some wear and tear, but they marked it all on the sheet before we signed for the RV. Gas milage was also much lower than expected and it would have been helpful to have a full tank before we picked up. It was less than 1/4 full when we picked up.

Comment: First, to anyone who plans to visit: The rental facility locates right below HW-92, the same as the Penske Truck Rental. The location marked in Google Map (close to Budget Mini Storage) is wrong. I have proposed to correct that.Quite satisfied with the rental experience. We rented a 25FT standard size RV for a 4 days trip. That 2018 RV is a bit old, but it is clean, I could say comparable to an average 3 star hotel like La Quinta or Best Western. And except for some minor issues, its appliances and equipments are all working fine.

Comment: Hi, we just returned the rv today. I’m appalled by the other reviewers that had a clean and nice RV experience. Our 30ft RV was not clean and it was rather beat up inside. This is a review for the San Mateo, CA site at the specified address.I’m not sure what happened, perhaps we got a beat-up falling apart RV versus whatever the other renters used. The RV we rented had: 1. duct tape on the floor, 2. dingy fan/heater (with very nasty air filters that had not been cleaned), 3. under the pullout couch there was gunk and junk that had not been swept, 4. the screen door was broken, 5. the side curtain rod on the bottom was loose and off the hinges, 6. the fridge would beep every single time we unplugged from the rv site, 7. the windshield wipers were old, 8. the bathroom fan has not been cleaned (ever), 9. They had the incorrect rearview mirror on one side (left vs right). 10. fridge panel was missing (all you saw was a metal door), 11. they should probably get the MAX AC checked because when we drove through the smoke areas it smelled terrible inside, when MAX AC should only recirculate the air and not pull from outside.Lastly, everything rattles inside, because the windows are poor and cheap materials are used. You can’t hear the driver/passengers/to people in the back.I would never rent from them again and definitely made me feel like Cruise America has gone downhill. It’s a shame this RV was only 2 years old, I could have sworn it was 20 years old because it was so beat up.

Comment: Renting a RV from CruiseAmerica San Mateo is super easy. I reserved it online and picked it up later. It didn’t take much time to complete the paperwork. Similarly, the returning process was also quite speedy. Overall, no hassles.The reason that I didn’t give the 5-star is because RV itself has a few minor problems. Yes, I know I should have identified issues before I took the key, but certain things only showed up later. For example, the check engine light came on after about 400 miles driving. I called and told this is normal with fuel sold in certain part of country. As long as the light is not flashing and engine performance is not dropping, it should be fine. This is reasonable, and proven to be true, but I would appreciate if I could have been given a heads up when picking up the vehicle. I also wish the water hose could be better. It leaked like hell when connected in campground, which is embarrassing.Overall, I still like my experience. I will recommend CruiseAmerica to anyone.

Comment: Lets start by saying this... Getting someone on the phone at this location is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! The do not answer phone calls... And when you arrive to pick up your rental they do not acknowledge you until they have finished with other customers - a simple I will be with you when finish would suffice.On 09/25/2020 I rented a large class C motorhome from Cruise America for 10 days. After 288 miles driven in the RV my husband noticed what felt like a flat tire, after we pulled we noticed that the rear drivers side dual tire were bent on the axel, this was at 9pm on 09/25/20. We immediately called the customer care line and we were connected with Dolores (TA22). We explained the situation and we were told we would need to be towed and then wait until the next day for the RV to be repaired. My husband explained that we were on a schedule and would like a replacement RV. Upon which time we were told that was impossible as all shops were closed and that we had to undergo thorough inspection prior to being issued a new unit, my husband explained to her that it hardly seemed fair to which she told him let me know when you are finished and I will complete this request so we can work on getting you a tow truck in an extremely rude tone. At 3am - 6 hours later a tow truck finally arrived to tow us to the nearest safe location which was a piece of dirt next to a gas station, we did not settle in until 6am due to the tire falling off (THERE WERE NO LUGNUTS ATTACHED TO THE TIRE - I firmly believe this was due to negligence on the rental yards behalf and they did not replace them when putting the tire back on as I cannot imagine THAT MANY falling off on their own) and needing an additional tow truck to lift it so we can put the tire back on and make the unit inhabitable. Being we were forced to stay overnight with no hookups we had to use the generator as the temperature outside was near 100 degrees. It was not until 5pm the next day, after many conversations and a few different mechanics coming out that we received our replacement unit. By this time we had lost our spot for the reservations we had prepaid for at Ventura Ranch KOA. We were forced to stay in the RV again overnight with no hookups being that we could not find an additional place to reserve for the evening. Upon returning the RV we requested a refund for 2 nights for the RV rental and reimbursement for the 2 nights we lost at Ventura Ranch KOA. We also requested the time used for the generator to not be calculated for 10 hours because we were forced to use it due to the extreme heat and inability to hook up. We were denied said request and instead only given back our deposit (minus the generator use).I WILL NEVER AGAIN RENT FROM CRUISE AMERICA AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!The customer service is awful, the RVs are falling apart and they are NOT THOROUGHLY INSPECTED PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.

We had some generator problems and the Cruise America Roadside 800 help line was difficult to use, typically requiring a 30 minute or more phone wait time. Checkin and checkout in San Mateo was easy, even with Covid-19 restrictions. We would rent again.

Comment: We had a wonderful time renting from cruise america. They were very accommodating when the heater broke down and helped us to repair it. We didnt get charged for extra or anything. We also got a day discount from them. Overall, San Mateo team was great

Comment: I was a first time RV renter for a full size RV. The staff here was awesome. Michelle gave me a tour of the RV, and patiently explained functions of the RV. Checkout was a breeze and so was the return. During return, Michelle explained all the charges to me and was very fair and transparent. I will definitely not hesitate renting agin from this location.

Comment: I forgot my ipad on the RV that we just returned. Called them in an hour and went back to check. The ipad was GONE. One of the managers named Michelle and a cleaning person went up there before us. Not saying for sure someone from their company took it, but the last found signal of this ipad was from their site. This ipad is my work life. Triple check your belonging before leaving!

Comment: Rental of an RV in August 2017.Very simple and very friendly welcome.The RV was in good condition 14000 miles.After a short 15 minute briefing, we set off on our journey.Nothing beats a good European camper van but we had a good time with this Ford V8.

Comment: The worst. They rented us a filthy, leaking, mold infested wreck. This place is horrible. Stay away. Wish I could leave 0 stars, I wish there was a negative star rating. Please, save yourself the headache. We spent most of our vacation in repair shops and finally had to get a new RV at a different location along our route. Terrible business, nightmare to deal with.
