D & D Gunsmiths in other cities:
I was very happy with my service that I received when I went to D & D Gunsmiths. The owner was very friendly and was nice enough to wait for us to arrive just before closing time. He installed my Glock sights at a good price and even threw in a guide rod in for free. I would recommend D & D to anyone they are very knowledgeable and friendly people.
I walked into D and D with my AR15 upper receiver, looking for some advice and an estimate on a pin and weld fix. They said since it’s a quick job, that they could work on it right now, as I waited. I left 10 minutes later totally satisfied!!! My upper all fixed! I “will” use D & D in the future. They are my Gunsmith of choice ! John in Birmingham
They told me it would cost $65. When I picked it up it was 120 some dollars they overcharged me. I’ll never go back again. And I don’t think the trigger Job I was done correctly. I’ll be taking to another gunsmith to find out. He’s a crook to overcharge me. When I asked him about the $65 charge he said you must’ve been thinking of The hourly cost. Are you going to the gun store and ask for a price to do something they should give you the price Of the total job. And I see by looking at the reviews I’m not the only one that had the same problem.
Great gun store as well as being a very professional gunsmith shop! They know their stuff and they are enthusiastic about the products whether it’s new or 100 years old. They worked on a very old and precious shotgun of mine. It belonged to my great grandfather, to let you know how treasured it was. They fixed it within 4 days in the very beginning of the hunting season!! That’s a big deal to me. I am able to get back out in the field and hunt with a gun that has been in my family for 4 generations, and hopefully it will last 4 more. All I know is if something goes wrong with it or any of my other guns I’m coming right back here! Thanks for the hard work boys!
Guy at the front counter, I believe his name is Frank, was very nice and helpful. A little pricey I thought for having a new trigger put in my M&P9 and replacing sights, but I heard great things about the quality of the work and they had it back to my next day. After firing a few hundred rounds through it over the next couple months, I went to clean the gun and had issues taking it down due to what it seems like is a issue with the aftermarket trigger and the sear engaging properly. A bit disappointed that a place with such a great reputation seemed to miss a detail like that. Will still recommend most likely, just hope my instance was a oversight.
Phenomenal service and great shop overall! I took in my glock 22 for a sight adjustment and they had it done in 10 minutes and at a price that cant be beat! They were so friendly and explained what they had done and exactly how far they had moved the sight. Really great experience and will definitely go back for all of my gunsmithing needs.
Had several excellent experiences here now. They work on everything from ARs to vintage black powder. Dont hesitate to take your firearm here for work or advice. Theyve never steered me wrong. Frank has always been my guy there and taken care of me.They also have a small selection of mostly vintage firearms at reasonable prices. Worth a call if youre looking for something harder to find/obscure
These guys are awesome. I have had them replace and/ or rework triggers on my Springfield 1911 and my S&W shield. Both jobs came back earlier than quoted and done to perfection. I also had them put night sites on a few pistols, and they get done quickly and on target. Couldnt ask for a better shop. Will continue to give them all of this business without hesitation.
Great experience. Took my 12 Ga. O/U to D&D to fix a dented barrel. I expected to leave the gun and return in a few days. Instead Frank took the barrels in the back and fixed it while I waited, and for way less $ than expected. Thanks D&D. You have my future business.
Great gunsmithing and service! Dan has an incredible background and is an outstanding man! Gunsmithing par excellence and his staff (Frank, John, Ron and Lee) are outstanding young men working at the top of their form! I could not reccomend this wonderful company enough for the fine service, skill and firearms knowledge they possess. I cannot imagine a problem that they cannot solve! That, and they are friendly, cheerful and most helpful! Best ever!
This place is super. I came into the store to have a trigger job done on a pistolAnd the staff were super friendly and professional. The job was done that same dayAt an amazing price. The shop is very old school and cozy, these guys seem to love what they do.Highly recommended
Dan and staff are great! Extremely knowledgeable, excellent craftsmanship and outstanding service. While i was at the counter picking up my match rifle i observed several interactions with customers and was very impressed at their professionalism and wide range of knowledge.
Interaction started out rough, but became pleasant and actually had a very good conversation before leaving. This is key for me -- I (we) can buy firearms anywhere, but finding a gun store with good people that are enjoyable to deal with is tough. The owner is a really good gunsmith too. Lots of very nice work coming out of there.
Dan and Frank know me by name and always take care me. The turn around time is short and they do quality work. I would recommend D&D to anyone with a gun that needs some TLC. Ive also picked up some great deals from them. I got a beretta 21A for $200 with the wood grips and a Winchester model 12 for $250. Both in near perfect condition.
Great shop! Went with a friend when he dropped off his gun for repair (hes gone there for years) and I was surprised with the friendliness and knowledge of the guys there. In fact I ended up going back a couple days later to buy one of the guns they had in stock! They are the first place I will go for repairs or service - very friendly, courteous, no attitude.
Thank you to Dan and all the guys at D&D for helping me restore my dads and mine Belgium Browning A5s They came out amazing! Outside the fact that their blueing work is impeccable, their ability to find A5 parts in NOS condition amazes me. Very fair on price and excellent work, what else can you ask for! Thank gentleman.
I took my Weatherbee 30-06 to D&D to see if it could be saved. My mother spilled a sizeable amount if red wine on it....AND NEVER WIPED IT OFF. It was badly damaged by the rust. Frank, Apprentice Lee, and the rest of the D&D team then managed to fix the pitting on the barrel while retaining the original stampings, repair and refinish the stock, and; all together resurrect my rifle. When they were done it looked amazing. They took their time and did quality work. I am very pleased with the outcome and would recommend D&D to anyone!
I brought my rifle here so it could be cleaned/checked out since it hadn’t been touched in nearly 30 years. After I had taken it home and brought it out a month later, I noticed the interior of the gun was still completely covered in cosmoline from 30 years ago, dried up and coagulated. I took it back and one employee told me you should probably get this cleaned, while Frank said he remembered me bringing it in and that they oiled it for me. Lousy experience, these guys cant even clean guns properly.
Nut-job raves at me over the counter as owner stands there listening. That is a bad experience. Owner has now taken to trying to insult me on google. Worst service Ive ever received, anywhere, ever. Twice Ive been treated rudely by staff. I had one staff member engage in a weird emotional outburst. Got charged $60 to clean a gun. Id give zero stars if that were an option.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, SHODDY WORK. I brought in a Walther PPK that was having failures to feed on first round. They fixed that issue but the next time I took it to the range the mag started falling out after 2-3 rounds (it was NOT doing this before). I brought it back and they REFUSED to provide even a discount on the services for the second repair, even though clearly something they did caused the mag dropping issue. They refused to offer even an apology. If Id put 400 rounds through it and then the mag started dropping, it would have been a different story, but that was not the case. Find another gunsmith, these guys are terrible.
Considering the shoddy work I have seen done at other area shops Williams in Davison for example I cant say enough for D&D. Everyone I have dealt with in there has been very helpful, personable, knowledgeable and just a great all around experience!! I have already recommended friends and family to them. Top notch work and very quick turn around. A+!
I took my rifle here a few years ago for a simple drill and tap for a scope mount. The two bases were drilled and installed so crooked from each other that the gun has been unusable since. I questioned it with the gun smith and he said that it should still work. Well it doesnt. The barreled action has sat in my safe since. I wont even waste a stock on the project. It is almost worthless because of the gunsmiths inability. I went there based on all of the good reviews. It seems that even these guys have a bad day. I dont think that Ill ever be going back.Edit to add: It is disheartening that the owners first instinct is to accuse me of being a liar and a thief. I am neither of those. Im also adding pictures of the work.
Overpriced and slow work, its going to take them a long time to fix your gun but they will fix what others can not. they are going to charge you 4x what it should cost, cost me 100 bucks for a new forend but it was a oddball forend, i asked them to also shorten the length of pull they did not do it and after over paying for the forend i didnt want to know what it would cost for the LOP
LOVE the owner Dan, but Im not sure it was him doing all the work on my guns. Had a scope mount added to my pristine Yugo Mauser & it was soo uneven they had to throw brass shims in the rear scope ring. IN the scope ring. Thats SOOO wrong on soo many levels it wasnt even funny. Had em install a spring in my old Colt SAA & that broke within the week. Im now looking into the work they did on my L1A1; it keeps breaking open during shooting. I now see to how they were trying to address this issue; they were filing on the RECEIVER LUG, NOT the spring loaded frame lock pin in the lower receiver. UGH... Im currently fitting a +.010 oversized pin in myself to see whats up. This was also the ONLY shop thats ever screwed up a nics check to buy some rifles. I NEVER had a shop screw up before on that. I bought 2 rifles there in one day, took them home, & the next day they said I failed my check & had to bring them back. Wrong. I failed nothing. Brought them back & got my money back. Bought other guns somewhere else only to have them call me back & say Oh youre good, it was a minor screw up. Too late buddy I purchased guns somewhere else. Just like working on cars over all these years - should have just done it myself. Its a pain but at least I KNOW it will get done right...Cant believe that when I look back over time & combined all the stuff they screwed up it was actually more than I thought.
Great experience! Went in without calling ahead and was taken care of immediately. Staff that I dealt with were knowledgable and friendly. They even took time to show me what to do if my issue ever arose again so I could take care of it myself. I would gladly use their services again.
Ron Typinski· 30 minutes ago5/16/2017:I took one of my Browning Citori in for tigger and safety repair. Mentioned that my son had a 12 Ga. mini shoot at DSC on 5/18/2017 and asked if it were at all possible to get the gun back in that short period of time. I was and am amazed at the quick and High Quality they provided in One day. The gun fires better than new. THESE GUYS ARE GREAT
I had taken a new Weatherby fiberguard rifle into D&D to have a broken scope mount screw removed, When I picked the gun up, they clamp the gun in a vise without anything protecting the stock, vise marks in the fiberglass stock, the bluing on top of the reciver were the broken screw was, all scratched up, it had looked like a 10 yr old had attempted the repair, After confronting the owner, he promised to make it right, then after going back two times it was Never made right, he ruined my gun, The only reason Im giving him one star is because I cant give him no stars, Stay away from those jerk hes an arrogant hack at best!!!
Ive been dealing with D&D for 15 years Ive had guns refinshined trigger jobs and plenty of coustom work done here these guys take a huge amount of pride in what they do Dan is buy far the man frank jimmy and the rest of the guys are all artist in what they do if your looking for quality craftsmanship and pride in every firearm these guys touch at a more than a affordable price go to D&D you wont regret it and the box stores cant touch there experience
They were able to repair an M1 Garand with a faulty dummy round stuck in the barrel. Very helpful and knowledgable. They were willing to fix it very quickly and tell me useful information on care and maintenance for the rifle. Will definitely go back for future questions and repairs.

2021-12-08Great work! Had the guys at D&D do a Bobtail, Barrel Crown and Cerakote on a Kimber Pro Carry I had… It took a hand full of months due to the 3rd Party who does their Cerakote. But it came back Topnotch, with a Factory New finish.

2021-10-28Being a newish gun owner, I came here to have my new muzzle brake installed and timed. The reason I give this place 2 stars is because they were fast. Thats it. I only waited about 20 minutes which isnt bad at all. However, this place loses a star because of the customer interaction. While waiting, the front desk employee made no interaction with us at all and instead talked to another gentleman the whole 20 minutes. I use to work in retail and if you want more profit for your company, customer engagement is a must! This place also loses a star because of the attitude the gunsmith had when he handed me my rifle. The gunsmith angrily informed me that my rifle was over lubed and told me I should be doing it another way. I wasnt upset at the information he was telling me, more so by HOW he was telling me. As I said, Im a newer gun owner and everything Ive learned is from other people and YouTube videos. You guys really need to work on your customer service, especially for the newer gun owners that come into your business. Finally, this place loses its 3rd star for cleanliness and price. It costs me $45 to have my muzzle brake installed. Again thats $45 for a 15 minute job. As for cleanliness, the place was cluttered and looked like nothing was has been cleaned for awhile. My recommendation is look around at some other places before coming here. You could save yourself some money and get better customer service.

2021-11-05I brought a pistol in for them to put some new sights on that I bought. I was told three to four days, but ended up getting it finished the next day. Took it to the range and it is spot on. Excellent work done, very professional, and outstanding turnaround time. I wouldnt go to anyone but D&D now.

2021-09-12If youre new to this shop, I very much encourage you to go elsewhere (anywhere else). Im not one to leave reviews but my experience here was god awful. They know their regulars, im sure they know guns too. But sadly they cant be bothered with professionalism or new business. I brought in a few rifles to have fine-tuned, cleaned and vetted, guns came back dirty as hell. Was even told one had been test fired, only to find out later that never happened (he failed to realize they never had ammo for it). List goes on, no offense intended but to be blunt, learn from my mistake, go somewhere reputable. In response to the reply from D&D. I actually did go back to the shop a week after and spoke with you, I told Dan who handed it off to Frank. Frank gave a short apology, even gave me a box of 303 as compensation, and said he would have a word with his guy who had done the test firing. Which isnt nothing. But that said, the charge to clean and test fire the gun was $60. The ammo I bought (found online since it was rare) which D&D promised was correct and confirmed by test firing, cost me another $200. But hell, it was the WRONG ammo. In my opinion the effort by Frank does count, and wasnt nothing. You could do worse. But the point is a reputable shop would have refunded the $60, and would have bought the $200 worth of ammo too, since it was that shops word and credibility as a gunsmith that was trusted when buying the ammo in the first place. D&D did neither, and charged for services it didnt perform, putting the cost of its mistake on a customer. That speaks for itself and is as fair of feedback as any.

2021-03-30After calling many places, D&D were the only ones I could find to who would put a F marked fsb (new) on a new barrel. I also had them put the delta ring assembly , a2 muzzle brake, attach barrel to upper, put forward assist and dust cover on upper. I picked up today and am extremely impressed with their work. I received my items back exactly as I dropped them off. I’m extremely picky and found no issues at all with their work. I most definitely will do business with them again.

2021-03-22The craftsmanship that came from their shop today is unacceptable. The service today was not up to par with how it normally is when I go into the shop. The new boss man ( young dude) said his gun smith needs to get paid for his time, he put an hour of his time in a 35 dollar set of hand grips very sad and poor decision, since I was charged $95. He could have spent 5 hours on it and I don’t think he could have done any better !! I have had a lot of work done here in the past and always like talking with the (Ole Man , great guy)

2021-01-05These folks are extremely personable and helpful. I received two firearms as a gift around the holidays and I went in to get an opinion, get educated, and have the guns cleaned. The staff there knew I was not an expert and took the time to work with me to understand what I had. Folks can feel intimidated by places like this if they are new to guns, but do not worry, these folks will not hold it against you.

2021-04-02Great stuff, really neat group of guys. Customer service was like talking to a friend. They obviously know their stuff and have the work/service/experience to back it up. Very pleased with the service they had on my WWII era firearms.
