Theyre very polite and nice they can speak any language if you need an interpreter their help there to help Michigan people get back on your feet. But please use your manners to these ladies and gentlemen dont go in there after you might some rough kind of person and use any kind of swearing it wont be tolerated they have Security on staff
Caseworkers do not answer, but will call you all day even when they know youre not available. If you wait because you havent received a call back, then you dont get your caseworker and no real assistance. Some workers are helpful and others seem more harmful. A security guard helped me more than a worker with the applications.
Rudest people you will ever have to deal with. They lose your documents (even when you go there in person and hand to them). And they don’t return your calls no matter how many times you leave a voicemail. Why are the taxpayers who pay for the salaries of these people allowed to be treated so poorly??? After seeing all the other reviews on here that are the same as mine why has no one ever fixed the problems with the MDHHS? If any privately owned business operated like this they would be out of business!!
Forget about calling your case worker. You will keep calling and leaving message after message after message with no call-back. Also, the representatives just give vague answers just to give an answer and send you on your way. I was cut off from my insurance benefits one month early and left numerous messages with no response.
Have to agree with the rest of the people on this place. Not paying for a foster babys daycare is something special I never thought was even a possibility however this place is trying to do that. When asked to do a phone interview and you call and leave a message multiple times explaining to call a certain number because you can not answer at that time. One would hope you would call the number given not the number on file. Disgraceful place with bad workers and management. Ashamed of the local government to allow a place like this to be ran so poorly.
Its DHS, depressing corral like lobby with a rabbit warren of cubicles beyond the security doors for the workers. Security guards in the lobby.Ive dealt with 2 of the social workers over the last 8yrs. Both answered my calls within 24hrs and kept appointment times promptly. Questions have always been answered thoroughly. I am also a caregiver documenting services provided, not a recipient of services, so my experiences may differ from others.
I am a single mom of 4 kids I work part time and I was denied help for my electric! I have been without power now for almost a month, I have a special needs child and a 2 yr old on top of it all! My case worker Lied to the church and said I didnt do my phone interview and didnt turn in all my paperwork! I cant stand the people that work their they all have attitudes for no reason! Im sorry I pay into my system I should get the help I need!If I was foreigner I would get the max in everything my power would have been on the next day! WHAT IS ARE COUNTRY COMING TOO??
This building is full of incompitant and apathetic people. It was bad enough my Case worker qay the one who missed my phone interview and ignored me for a week but then wouldnt load my food assistance on my previous card . I went down to get a new one like I was told if that happened and waited my turn only to be skipped because my caseworker was on lunch and sat and was ignored for 3 hours before Im finally deciding what to so next Im currently here.
It is unfortunate that this site is most certainly not monitored by anyone who cares about improvement of this location / facility. I imagine since it is a government agency there is a sense of entitlement on the part of employees and lack of concern for those seeking assistance. There is no competition and they receive compensation no matter how they treat the clientele. Like everyone else I have been unable to reach case workers or anyone else for that matter by phone. In person one is treated with hostility and disgust. And as in the case of another gentleman who commented here, they lost paperwork turned in and stamped by an employee. So we now have to request a hearing, as though we were criminals. I will be writing and calling officials about this until they do something about the state of service here.
This place sucks the workers are overworked and underpaid so they usually take it out on someone or two throughout the day. Ive been screwed over by them many times but I have to fight for my daughters rights . My recommendation would be get a better job if you can so you never have to go there. The security here can definitely be jerks and ive reported them once or twice.
The rudest people you will ever deal with. I ask for something simple, but this lady told me I still had to come in the office. She was obviously having a bad day, but no need to take it out on me. She never provided a name to me, but what can you expect. I have a busy life, so by the time I get off of work, office hours are closed, I dont have the luxury of a day off. She did not provide me the address before hanging up on me. I guess my trying to multi-tasked made her mad. Telling me, you called me, you need to listen. I was, but I didnt understand why something my parents did when I was still a kid mattered now, I should be able to take care of an issue myself and something this simple over the phone.
Albanian Translator is lier....Albanian translation Mrs. Bozhdaraj is lier, she said I’m supervisor here, she is discriminatory with a pregnant women, she never translated what I said. Also be careful and from Albanian employee there,A. Rica.Both of them worked hard to destroy my application. God is good, and I found my right.I’m very shocked how two incompetent employees are worker at MDHHS.Be carful guys from Mrs.Bozhdaraj and A.Rica they are devils😡
Pretty sure case workers just sit at their desk and ignore the phone calls because i recieved a call from my case worker missed the call she left a message at 3:16pm asking me to call her back.I SNAP called her back at the very moment she hung up (was just rounding the corner to the phone to catch it! called her number and got no answer and just a voicemail with the message on it to not leave a message cuz the voicemail is not monitored SIGH! i called agan every 5 minutes for the next hour and a half! (so over 20 times) and each time id just get the voice mailpretty sure they ignore the calls when its close to closing time.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I wish they didnt make you rate to give a review. The reason Im giving a bad review is because Ive received terrible customer service. I was told to bring my information papers in, only for them to lose the papers then say I didnt turn them in. After all that, Im told my papers werent turned in. Im so done with this place. Overall, Im not going to stress over $16.00. Even when I shouldve gotten more. Theyre cheap and they rip you off in the long run. I highly recommend not giving the place the time of day. But if you end up going along with them, youre just hurting yourself. Good luck. ✌️
Absolutely the rudest people I have ever met. I talked to 3 people and combined it probably just met a minute total (that I talked to people) and they all talked to me like I was dumb (although i didnt have to wait long at all). I had no idea what I was supposed to do having never been there before- no directions given and when I asked I got a huge attitude back- all I needed was some form to observe in a child care setting, but they couldnt even be nice to me. The last guy I had started yelling at me and so I just walked out and he made me want to cry. Every time I saw another worker in that building say a word to a customer, it was just as rude or worse. I didnt hear one nice comment. Also, the building was disgusting and sloppy and unorganized. The lady couldnt even find the form I needed and finally just grabbed one from under papers on the desk. So unprofessional and rude.
They are so rude and they do not listen. The case worker C. Tanzini does not return calls and she is very unprofessional. I can not say an entire sentence without her comments cutting me off. She is the reason for this bad review.The system also gives you the option to speak with an operator but when you click to speak with the operator the message comes up as NO OPERATOR is available to help you. There is no customer service with DHS it is complete garbage. I hate calling and dealing with any of these idiots.
I needed an background check for job and needed to come here. I walked in and they gave me a number. While i was waiting I went to use my phone and the security yelled at me saying no cell phones but behind her little cubicle she was on her phone. There was 3 security people who was just sitting there being loud and joking with each other. After waiting 20 mins I got called and they told me I had to fill out this paper work & make a copy of my own license and get back in line & that there was a place 3miles down the road where I could make a copy. The paper work would have took me 2 mins to fill out and really they couldnt make a copy of my drivers license? HOW LAZY. Why couldnt they have give me the paper work while Im waiting in line? I ended up going to the one on hall road, there was no wait, told the lady what happen at the mound location and she said it sounded like someone didnt want to do their job. Avoid this place!!!
Horrible employees that represents the state of Michigan. I worked all my life , last job 20 yrs at St John Hospital until a guy hit me n ruined my life. I did not choose to ask for help but in desperate need right now in my life. I had Springfield as a case worker n she purposely denied me of everything , railroading me , constantly asking for the same paper work over n over ..... I am on disability n my enter check goes to my mortgage. She denied me health care n then deducted money str8 out of my disability check forcing my mortgage to bounce. All she bitched about was her job n how she is overwhelmed n No overtime is available..... Smdh
Only gave 1 star because google made me give at least one. HORRIBLE service, lazy employees. Had a phone interview to redetermine my eligibility for health care. worker never called, when i FINALLY got ahold of him (after months of no answer and leaving voicemail after voicemail) he said he didnt have time for it and hed call me later. Just got a notice in the mail that my health care coverage is being denied because i didnt have my redetermination interview. such crap.
I wish i could put negative stars, I do suggest to anyone to keep records as to when you called or when you went in to drop off paperwork. I complained to a supervisor and was told they are union they cant be fired, really that is how it works there. I have never met such a group of rude people, I dont expect them to kiss my behind , but I was born here and paid taxes for over thirty years, how about a little tiny bit of respect..
Ive just recently applied to be added to my fiances case, and we have been asked repeatedly to provide the same information as was given 7 days ago. Same pay stubs and proofs, so I came to look up the number and see a 2.1 star rating. This tells me that youre incompetent and you look down on other people for needing financial help when you shouldnt even be employed yourselves.

I would love to speak to that person.I had the pleasure of dropping my papers off and interacting with CINDY. So, this woman not only gave me the biggest attitude and treated me like a complete piece of you know what but as I am writing my case number on my papers, which she so rudely told me to do, she starts complaining about the people walking in and complaining about what time it is. WOW HOW PROFESSIONAL, YES YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER THEN ALL OF US ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT WINDOW.Just so you know I asked you your name in HOPES you read this one day and you remember that you made a pregnant woman cry because of how arrogant and toxic you are, CONGRATULATIONS-I was mortified to be there- and you made my experience that much worse.People like yourself who belittle individuals like myself really need A REALITY CHECK. :) You do not know my story, you do not know me, you have no right to treat me the way you did. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OH and just so you know no one informed me to write my case number on ALL PAGES and no one informed me all copies were to be on 8x11 pieces of paper. I have been waiting for over a month just to have my newborn added for insurance...not to mention i have giving my worker every paper he asked for since my move my rent is more and i have added bills since november how come my food stamps lowered for jan but are double for feb no way im on ssi i get just enough for rent and i have 2 kids now so this makes no sense i have left message after message i emailed him and he was rude says i have to call if i have a question about my case well sir you never call me back in yoir 48 hours you have to call me ever ughhhh i hate that i moved to this location

2022-02-04My caseworkers phone is always off. I will call him for weeks at a time with concerns regarding my case and he NEVER returns my calls - and then blames me when things arent done correctly. It wasnt until a few weeks ago (I have been on benefits for at least a year) that I found out my caseworker had an email as another form of contact. Once I started emailing him he would answer me promptly. My guess is because these conversations are actually on record and can be used against him as proof that that isnt doing his job. His last email to me was very rude and unprofessional. I keep getting notifications saying my benefits are denied, but when I email him, he says that they are false and talks to me as if I am uneducated and am reading it wrong. I called the supervisor multiple times and never received a response until today. It was a woman that called me back...which is weird because the supervisor I have been calling for several weeks was a man. The supervisor was no better. Didnt offer me any kind of solution for any of my problems, proceeded to blame other departments for my caseworkers incompetence, and played the finger pointing game the entire length of the call. She refused to acknowledge that the behavior of my caseworker was unacceptable and unprofessional, or even apologize for what I have been put through, and proceeded to just assign me a new case worker. ZERO compassion... like why are you working for the people if you hate....people?? I told her that the caseworker did something to my file that stops me from participating in the PATH program, and that my caseworker through PATH stated that this was due to an error on his end, she denied the claims and basically told me there is nothing they can do on their end. So Im monkey in the middle of two different departments that simply dont want to take the blame for whatever mistake they made. So let me get this straight.... citizens of Michigan come here....for help?! This entire process has caused me more stress than my financial struggles to begin with!! Maybe thats their goal? I mean seriously...why else would you put people through this? Im extremely prompt with my responsibilities and always submitted any documents on time. I have been honest and open throughout this whole process and yet Im met with staff that couldnt care less if they leave my family without food - regardless of if I did my part or not. This place is a joke and I honestly feel sorry for any family that has to deal with them just to receive some help during hard times.

2022-01-17Been trying to get ahold of my caseworker for a week. And the system keep hanging up on me. Tells you to press 4 for the directory and then says its invalid and hangs up. Or when you add in your caseworkers ext. And its hangs up. What a joke.

2018-09-22If I could give zero stars, I would. I was required to turn in paperwork by a certain time or my case would be closed. I tried calling my case worker for almost a month straight, leaving multiple messages, seeking whatever help or advice they could give me because i was having difficulties obtaining the information they wanted. I never received a call back. I received a letter stating that my food stamps had increased so I thought that my caseworker was able to resolve the issue without any further action from me. I received another letter 10 days later stating that my case was in fact closed because I failed to turn in the paperwork as requested. Once again I was back on the phone making multiple calls and leaving multiple messages with my caseworker and not once did she call me back. I called the main office and left multiple messages with them. After 2 or 3 days of frustration, I finally reached a human being who actually did treat me decent and put me through to my case workers supervisor. I left a message with her explaining the situation. She actually did call me back but I almost wish that she hadnt because the way she treated me and talked to me was appalling. She made a point to tell me why my case was closed and it was my own fault for not turning in the requested paperwork by a certain date. I snapped back that I was trying to do what I was supposed to and needed help, obviously because I have been trying to resolve this issue for a month, and maybe if their employees would return a single phone call in a timely matter as stated in their voicemail, I wouldnt be going through this. After it was all said and done and I finally obtained the information that they requested, it doesnt matter. Even though they were fully capable of pressing a few buttons to enter my information and reopen my case, they wont. I now have to reapply for my benefits and start all over. Ms. Ventimiglia and supervisor - I dont know what makes either of you think that you have the right to play God and screw with peoples lives. There are people, like myself, that genuinely need help and you throw your weight around, making things harder than they have to be just because you can. I truly hope with every fiber in my being that both of you have the displeasure of meeting people that are just like yourselves and you need their help but they treat you the way you treat your clients. You are scum and I dont know how you sleep at night.

2021-10-14What a joke need I say more they tell you in this day and age you have to vote to make change for the positive and I always have never missed a votes since I was 18 years old however the state government is sorely lacking on efficiency especially when it comes to the way this agency is run its a complete crock, the red tape and paperwork is ridiculous of course they urge you to do it online but some people me especially because of my age demographic doing things online is so difficult and a lot of the problem is just the way that the web pages are designed I couldnt get through to save my soul give me a pen and paper any day and a SHOVEL, AND THEN TAKE MY ADVICE DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH FOR A SPEEDY RESPONSE

2018-10-26Wish there was 0 stars this place is the worst. They cut me off from food stamps for months because the case worker was sick then switched me to someone new without notice so I had no way of contacting anyone and drove up there twice and all they gave me was canned food would last a week.Now Im at their location Ive been here three times and my case worked is yet to see me and missed my phone interviews to go over what I needed help with twice. They just give a run around very un professional and treat people poorly here. It said my daughter is born with half a heart the last thing I need is more stress. I come to get us help not drama.

2019-09-17The job of MDHHS Sterling Heights staff is to deny applications and benefits. The office even denies eligible Medicare programs not funded by the State. If you have an issue with your case worker your at their mercy, so forget about any type of Customer Service etiquette. Its really shameful that this office denies eligible benefits claims just to get the client to give up. Especially since the population in which they serve is our societys most vulnerable. Since this is a governmental organization there is no way of filing a formal complaint against staff for unprofessionalism (coding the case improperly to trigger a denial decision, stating all the documentation regarding your case was not received, along with getting the overall runaround). The process involves contacting the workers supervisor and escalating up the ladder. Get luck with that, theres no corrective or disciplinary actions just the client screwed. I wish the system could be reformed in which a percentage of the staffs performance goals was based on the clients interaction with the staff. I would imagine just as much money so called saved denying cases is spent reinstating them.

Do not even bother waiting for a return call, it will not happen.We have never been treated so rudely! Been down to the office 5 times in the last month.Everyone that works there tells you different information, making it extremely difficult to know which answer is correct.

2018-10-24If I could give this office a negative shut bldg down and rehire new employees button thats the one Id use. I moved and now have to deal with the most unprofessional people Ive ever had to deal within our government, they screw up and youre SOL and cut off . I just received back dated paperwork that I was suppose to receive 2 mos prior. Its been an absolute fight to get this straightened and now my Social Security is being reduced because its obvious that she/he (worker and her supervisor) didnt follow through with their jobs. Im disabled, my money doesnt change unless we get cost of living increases and they should have that information anyway. I worked my whole life until I got sick and due to their screw up I may be homeless for Christmas this year. Happy Holidays to me.
