It is a beautiful hotel and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay it was so relaxing and they even accommodated my emotional support dog. That I have for my Agoraphobia. I felt safe and stress free, and my kids loved it plus they can walk through the hotel and go to the mall or the movies. And the restaurant in the hotel Fins Kitchen & Bar was fantastic the waitress was awesome and the food was delicious! You have to try the Apple cobbler it is to die for!!! The overall experience was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be coming back.
My overnight stay was quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was great and the room was clean. It was nice being connected to the mall in order to have easy dinner options other than the hotel restaurant. My only suggestion would be remodeling the guest floors to be more modern and bright. The furnishings in the room visibly showed wear and tear which wasnt too appealing and the bed wasnt as comfortable as I would have hoped. I actually missed my mattress at home for the first time. But the hotel pillows at least helped add some comfort to my sleep.
I am gold status and when I checked in to a hotel that was obviously less than 50% full, I was placed in a handicap room. I was never upgraded nor even given my profile requirement of a king bed room. When I got to my room the phone receiver didnt work which they fixed. The t.v. kept turning off automatically and during the first night I woke up at 1am to the room being too hot because the AC fan was running but not blowing cold air. The next morning I told them I wanted to move rooms and told them what was wrong and I was leaving for meetings and will be back end of the day. They moved me to a room that literally had tattered curtains and a bath tub shower that constantly dripped, but at least the AC and tv worked. I only had 2 more nights so I put up with it. I would never go back her and stress people to stay away! Everything from a maintenance perspective was done on the cheap. Even the wifi which would go out occasionally was wired in the hallways and they covered it with fake moulding only on one side of the hallway. The pool area and gym were dirty. Frankly it looked like no one cared. Horrible!
I stayed in the hotel for 4 days. My status of titanium elite wasnt even mentioned at check-in. None communicated about no housekeeping policy inspite of 4 days of stay. The hotel did not even good toiletries to use. I bought my own on my 2nd day. The towels were not clean. The shower and sink wont drain. No one bothered to address this even after notifying the front desk. It was the worst experience Ive ever had
Awesome Accommodations Loved the patio room! It was perfect for visiting with family from out of town. With the shortage of workers across the State of Michigan and the hotel being completely booked with traveling baseball teams and My Uncles wedding we were impressed on the accommodations, farewell breakfast etc. Thanks we had a blast!
The staff was very friendly. Hotel located smack in the middle of restaurants within walking distance. However the hotel is in need of renovation. The ac unit is way too noisy and doesnt keep at the set at temperature,Housekeeping staff failed to see the spiders art work in the ceiling and simple housekeeping tasks that was expected to have been carried out .
My wife and I had our wedding at the Detroit Marriott Livonia. Our experience here from start to finish was outstanding. From the early steps of planning, changes/reschedules during covid, and the final touches during the wedding, the staff was exceptional in making our wedding an amazing experience. The Sales/Event Manager Lisa was absolutely wonderful to work with. The consistent communication and support she provided us was outstanding. We truly enjoyed everything Lisa and the staff did for us throughout the entire process. Our wedding went perfectly and our guests commented on how well everything was done. Thank you to the Detroit Marriott Livonia and their staff for making our special day, perfect.
If I could give negative stars it would still be more then this place deserves. Booked 20 plus rooms, had an agreement with management to have the bar open when the wedding party and guests arrived to be open for last call. Show up… and we are yelled at by the bar tender. She closed a half hour before we arrived because someone, not in our group, got out of hand. Rooms were not clean, shower would not drain water. When questioning front desk about the situation, was given attitude and sarcasm. What else could go wrong? Guess we shall find out. Will never give any Marriott another penny.
This place is run down and dirty. We found a pair of dirty underwear under our bed, a red stain on the carpet and mold in the bathroom we informed the front desk and they moved us across the hall and this room was no better there was dirty socks under the bed and mold in the bathroom the pool area is in need of major repairs the drywall where the duct work is falling down and there is multiple holes in the walls where hoses are ran through the wall I will never be staying at this hotel again
Hotel is an average room and expensive. The hotel bar closes early and you are not allowed to sit in the lobby after the bar closes, not even to finish your drink. Ive never stayed in a hotel where you could not sit in the lobby bar. And the staff was not nice about it. It was only 11pm. Not like it was 2 in the morning.
I really enjoyed my safe. I was able to enjoy the pool and the restaurant & bar safely. Covid procedures were followed. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location is connected to a mall with a movie theater and there are restaurants nearby. Easy access to the expressway. Breakfast was really good with variety for everyone.
Cleanliness wasn’t perfect some crumbs on the floor in room. Also I reserved a king bed and they only had a double room available did not apologize .Also I know it’s due to covid but if your not cleaning rooms every day at least give more than two towels for 3 night stay two people . It’s a hassle to have to get to front desk to get them every night .Ordered breakfast and food was perfect and waitress very good .
Room was nice, thats about it. Took too long to check in a Saturday, only 1 person at front desk. Also i am being charge twice now for 1 night. I have called multiple times and been told they are working on it, REALLY!! It shoul have been fixed the first time i called. Will not recommend Marriot Hotels.
BRIDES - USE THEM FOR WEDDING BLOCKS!Great customer service. I was booking a block of rooms for my upcoming wedding. I contacted another hotel in the area three times over the span of a month. Called, emailed, called again and left a VM. Never heard back.I contacted the Marriot and within one day I had been contacted by a manager named Lisa. She was prompt and sent over the information I requested that day.She was willing to give us a group rate for a large portion of the wedding week, which was helpful for our out of town family.Lisa provided regular updates to me about who had booked rooms for our event. She is very responsive and helpful.10/10 would recommend to any bride that wants to take stress off their plate.Location is great - right off 275
Needed to get away. Got a last minute reservation online. Arrived and was greeted with friendly staff. All mask were worn. Overall room was nice and clean and comfortable. Went to pool. Everything was great. Asked for a late check out and it was no problem. Overall, I will stay again.
Rude front desk staff when I arrived at night. There was hair and soap scum all over my bathroom when I arrived. Naturally, I asked for another room. Not only did the guy at the front desk not apologize, but he acted annoyed that I asked him to press the buttons required to switch my room. Wont be returning here...breakfast was lovely but they clearly have staffing issues at all levels. I am a gold member so I stay at a lot of Marriot properties.

Very nice hotel, the parking lot was kept clean and clear during the nights it snowed. My issues were the attendant during check in, I wasnt greeted and she made me wait nearly 20 minutes during check in. When I walked up to the desk, she interupted me and said she needed to get a manager but wouldnt say why. It seemed she didnt know how to swipe the card for incidentals. Also, when I requested for housekeeping services, they didnt take the trash out at all.
The name Marriott has always been associated with class and this has been my experience on all the Marriott hotels l have stayed in. The Marriott Livonia was an exemption. From the entrance everything looked old and worn out. The service was not great. I realized there were no room service but someone should have at emptied the trash. We stayed at this Marriott for 5 night snd every day we came back, we had to get a mew key because our key stopped working. I was really disappointed with this hotel.
I always ask for higher floor quiet location. This visit I was placed on the ground floor next to rooms with small children that started there day at 730 am. There was no intervention by hotel staff as these kids ran up and down the hallway yelling and screaming, just around the corner from the lobby.
They got our reservation deleted twice and on the third time forced us to pay double for the additional room that we had already ordered and we received our free certificates to breakfast 3 hours after we had gotten breakfast. I will never go back I would never visit a Marriott ever again
BLUF: Ive stayed in only a few hotels in my life, but this was the worst. This said^ I havent stayed in any truly terrible hotels and I found my stay tolerable.Cons:- [covid safety] the comforter covers were not actually on the comforters, they were layer on as if like a sheet or an extra blanket. This 100% guarantees youre using unwashed blankets because they dont wash the comforters, they wash the covers. For this reason alone I rated 2 instead of 3 stars.- first room had an adjoining door through which I could hear everything from my neighbors speaking in room tones to picking their noses. I swear the sound was somehow amplified such that I could hear them better than I can hear conversation partners from 3 ft away.- first room shower flooded the tub due to poor drainage, it was to my calves after a short rinse.- second room had an ac/heater unit which turned on every 5 minute to blow lukewarm air into the room. This was loud but it didnt actually bother me much.- neither bathroom had any ventilation, so either the room fogged up to the extreme, or you opened the door and risked the fire alarm right outside the bathroom door going off, which happened on my second night.- [covid safety] my second room still had leftover trash from the previous tenant (half empty shampoo bottle on the window sill). Very minor but I guess I expected more cleaning between room stays since they dont have daily cleaning.Pros:+ Staff was very friendly and helpful. They moved me right away to a different room when I complained about the noise.+ Furniture was worn but ok quality.+ Safe neighborhood area near grocery stores and restuarants.+ Generally positive vibe with a live lobby/bar/restaurant scene.
Worst Hotel in Detroit and that is saying a lot. Poor Customer Service. They gave us the wrong room when we arrived, then tried to tell us the one we paid extra for was not available, and that was just the beginning of this nightmare stay!! The head desk Gentlemen needs to go back to Customer Service School he was absolutely appalling. Buyer beware of the location... Worst Stay Ever.
I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Unfortunately the heated pool was out for the week so that was a disappointment. I would recommend more vegan options at the restaurant and on the in room service menu. The staff was great however. I did find quite a bit of hair on my bathroom products which was not a happy surprise each time on towels and shampoo bottles. Continue to recommend making this hotel more earth friendly for those of us who nust travel for work but also want to make the least environmental impact we can in our circumstance.
Overall, this is a good hotel. It is a bit dated and older. We didnt have a great room and for some reason our frig was unplugged. Took us 1/2 day to figure out. Breakfast was nice and convenient. Parking is a challenge. The lot doesnt connect to the mall and you have to be careful to turn just right into the lot. Kind of a pain. And the revolving door doesnt work well and is hard to get your luggage thru.
The location of the Livonia Marriott sits next to the Marriott Courtyard. The location is accessible to the highway and several restaurants and bars in the area. Great location! Actually, this was our first time staying in the the main Marriott rather than the Courtyard. As so, my expectations is that the Marriott would have been a slight step above the Courtyard. Well not so! The hotel is clean, a tad dated, but the staff just either is totally unmotivated and really are like pulling teeth to get someone that helpful and pleasant. We had no major issues, but it was not great. The housekeeping staff were either under staffed (I understand it was Thanksgiving weekend). Housekeeping was scarce but stepped up when you asked to have our room cleaned. Otherwise, it wasnt happening. Across the board, the majority of the staffs attitude was that you were a bother. All said and done... if you have a choice. Definitely, stay at the Courtyard. The staff is friendly and will bend over backwards to help. Far better management.
When I made the reservation through your facility, and given the Sip and Stay rate,I knew knowing about it. I was told by the reservation person to Remember to ask for the drink vouchers if they dont give them to you. Upon checking in I did just that and the agents at the desk knew nothing about this promotion. They asked other people behind the desk and I was told that this was an expired promotion from last year and I shouldnt have been able to book it. I did not do the booking for the Thursday night. It was done through their reservation clerk. I went to our room and again called the reservation number and was told I should go and ask AGAIN to the manager specifically to inquire about the Sip and Stay. It seems absurd to me that a corporation as large as Marriott was not able to fix this without my being told it was my fault during booking. The hotel is dated. Furnishings are old. No USB ports in the room. The set up was weird. The TV was to the side of the bed making it awkward to watch TV from the bed. Bathroom door shut very noisily almost like a slam. Only towel bar was directly in front of the sink (very odd). Very noisy hallways at night. Thought we would have a very nice stay and it was just ok. I would not recommend as there are many other places in the area I think would be better.
Swift check in experience. Staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. I was thanked for my elite status and appreciated the room upgrade. I appreciated the later breakfast time on Sunday. Was more of a brunch time frame which allows for sleeping in. Room was modern, clean, and well maintained. Located nearby a strip mall which is very convenient. Would definitely return and stay again when visiting the area.
No bedbugs, clean, secure, and professional service. Very welcoming- the air conditioner was on in my room once I arrived. Free cookies were served and they were awesome. My coffee maker had a box next to it with more options than usual. I love little details like this.
The Detroit Marriott Livonia is a great place to stay either on business or pleasure. I stayed on business and the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable. The amenities were very nice as well. Sweet Lorraines Café and Bar was a nice place to eat and grab a cocktail. I ate there for breakfast and dinner a few times during my stay and found the food good, plentiful and the service great. I did not have the opportunity to use the fitness room or pool, however both looked as if they were well kept and had decent equipment The location of the hotel was great as well right off IR 275 and adjacent to a shopping mall and restaurants. Overall I had a good experience and will stay there again.
The place is outdated, very outdated. Reason I gave it 3 stars and not 1 is that they have a wonderful guest services lady that has been very helpful. Thank you Ashley for helping me get back in my room after I have forgotten my wallet upstairs and she verified a whole wealth of information that only I would know! Wonderful lady! Very nice and hospitable! Have a blessed time! I will return here thanks to Ashley! Hope you do well for Marriott and get a much better position than working nights! Thank you! And to the person complaining about the smoking area in the front, please be happy there are no smoking rooms. Us smokers need some place to smoke. You kicked us out of the rooms and we can only smoke up front, what else do you want from us? Seriously, grow up.
Our stay was amazing. Our room was extremely clean, very cool for an extremely HOT day outdoors. The rooms are always welcoming. The bathroom facility in our room was also very clean and well stocked with soaps, towels and wash cloths and even a hair dryer. Very well presented. Weve stayed at this particular property in the past and have NEVER been disappointed. Kudos to the property management and to Marriott Hotels in general. A job well done!
The hotel is just gorgeous inside, with renovated rooms and new furniture. I didnt look at photos before we arrived, and was pleasantry surprised at the modern feel and clean rooms and lobby. Care is definitely taken in making this Marriott up to date. The staff were very accommodating, we got an early check in and requested a roll out bed for our child. Both were granted, and they even set up the bed while we were out. The rooms were comfortable and the price was great! I would love to stay here again. I had low expectations because the hotel is attached to the mall, but youd never know once you were inside. So nice!
Held my daughters wedding at this hotel as well as had a large block of guest rooms at this hotel. All of the guests raved about hotel amenities. The catering staff did an amazing job with all of the food displays and decorations for the wedding. I couldnt be more please with how my daughters reception turned out. The breakfast buffet included in the nights hotel stay was tremendous as well. I could tell our guests were impressed with the food at the wedding and the breakfast buffet. Our wedding coordinator was amazing to work with. I would definitely consider this venue again for another special event.
From the start they knew I was with Trinity Health and was greeted with excellent customer services. My concerns would be the room services option on the Marriott App. I asked for a dental and shaving kit. I assume they staff was busy so I waited until the next day to make any judgments. But in my app it was marked completed and my requests was never delivered. No big deal but if you tell the customer that something is completed they’re gonna expect it’s completed. My second concern would come from Fin’s bar from a certain staff member. While I was at the bar enjoying my dinner I can hear this individual complaining about how much she hates making smoothies. Little did she know that the smoothie she was making was for a hotel guest sitting next to me. But overall good today really enjoyed my time there it’s convenient that the hotel is connected to the mall. I just wish the pillows could’ve been a little more harder.
The location was very nice for our needs. The room was clean and comfortable, but a little cramped for two adults and two teenagers (but not to the point of being a problem). The bathroom was clean with nice toiletries. The breakfast buffet at Sweet Lorraines was excellent. I will be staying here again on future trips.
Convenient location and easy to get to. Front desk staff very friendly, easy check in. Beautiful rooms, comfortable bed. Well kept and very attractive hotel. Could not have been more pleased with our stay at your first class hotel. Also, very nice pool! Staying just one night, it felt like an experience not just a place to sleep for the night. The room décor was the best Ive seen. Fresh, clean and well put together. Very comfy beds and I love the quality/smell of the bathroom soaps, shampoo etc. The shower was a totally refreshing experience! Awesome shower head!! Towels are wonderful! Big, clean and fluffy!
Positive: Location Negative: There were hairs all over the bathroom. The fridge didnt work, I had to request another. The noise level was abysmal. All you hear in the morning is staff calling out and then doors slamming open and shut, and this continued down the entire hallway.
Its ok, Im still here for more nights so maybe it will get better. The staff was very boring. They made me feel like I was a first time Marriott user and was bothering them. Not that it matters but I have logged 60 nights so far this year and 75 last year. I do like the mall attached to the Marriott its very convenient. The rooms have fridges which is nice. The lounge staff is great and food is fresh.
The hotel is beautiful! The amenities are on point, but the catering servers were kind of rude. We came for a catered family reunion dinner and despite the food being good the staff was kind of rude to some of the guest. Rushing us to eat and abruptly cleaning the tables without asking if we were done eating. Despite this experience, the hotel was lovely.
Hotel is nice and bright. The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are well kept and clean. The room service is fast and the food arrives hot. Their conference rooms are nice, located close together and well ventalated. The food they serve is hot, fresh, and cooked just right. Having the mall and movie theater right next door is a perk as well.
I am a Marriott member and have always like their standards and service. We did not have a reservation but stopped there on our way to a medical emergency The location was close enough to the hospital, yet far away from the congestion in Detroit. It met our expectations and we were satisfied. I felt like we got a good rate, and they let us have the room as soon as we arrived. It was convenient for us to have a good restaurant on the grounds since we were exhausted by the end of the day dut to circumstances. Thank You Marriott
The room was nice and clean. Bed was very comfortable! Only complaint was the pool water was cold and the pool room was freezing. Asked to have water temp checked and the temperature in the room turned up, couldn’t turn it up. No hot tub - not an issue for us, but it would help warm up the room. Great location and parking! Restaurant is ok - only ate there once. My age range is incorrect (35-45).
The staff is excellent and will do everything they can to make sure your visit is a positive one. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is very conveniently located to expressways, restaurants, shopping, and lakes/natural resources. There’s so much to do and Michigan is a beautiful state to visit. This Marriott is the perfect place to stay.
My wife and I enjoy taking in a movie and staying the night at this Marriott. The hotel is always pleasant, clean, and comfortable and it being part of the Laurel Park Mall makes for an enjoyable walk around. Lots of restaurants in the area as well. The added breakfast buffet is also always a great way to start the morning.Sweet Lorraines Cafe & Bar has been changed to Fin but is otherwise the same, the omelet chef is thankfully still there. We did find some moldy bread during our breakfast so quality control may need a review at the new place.Overall another good stay.
I have been known to be a critic of hotels ,especially if they charge quite a bit and dont deliver. So bear that in mind ,when I highly recommend this hotel. Apart from location and room appearance and cleanliness which were fine, the two crowning positives were the ultra-friendliness and excellent service orientation of all the staff (especially Nancy) and the food in the restaurant ( Sweet Lorraines) which was excellent, fairly-priced and varied. It was especially rich in good Vegetarian options which is not always true of hotel restaurants as I know from my experience as vegetarian. All in all highly recommended.
Marriott properties have always been high in quality, comfort, cleanliness. This trip was no exception. From the desk clerk at check-in to the following day at check-out, everything was in proper order, clean and ready at our disposal. The restaurant (Sweet Lorraines) is spacious, clean and offers a quiet setting for any guest(s) or family gatherings. We would definitely stay again when in the Livonia area.
Pros: Location was great, right next to freeway. The staff was helpful. The iron in the room was great before a social event. The bed was pretty comfortable. Cons: oddly designed room made it difficult for two people to get ready for an event. Shuttle service is not provided by the hotel but by a separate inside the entrance. Pillows were not comfortable.
Reliably comfortable, safe, and clean accommodation. My room was roomy with a king size bed. Starbucks coffee is supplied with the drip coffee maker. A desk and a small fridge is also supplied. The bathroom is stocked with all the towels you need, with shampoos and lotions, and with scented bar soap.On certain mornings, there is complimentary coffee in the lobby. On certain evenings, there are free cookies in the lobby. I arrived late and missed them. The desk staff went out of their way to get me a fresh snack. That was a pleasant surprise! There is a small store where you can buy packaged snacks, Starbucks coffee, and other items, such as a Tide To Go stick. There is a sit-down restaurant off the lobby where you can buy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A breakfast buffet is available on mornings when there are many guests in the hotel.
We frequently stay at the Livonia Marriott and have enjoyed it each time. The staff are exceptionally courteous and professional. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The exercise area and pool are clean and well maintained. We appreciate the coffee at the desk for after those early morning workouts. The restaurant and bar are great and we enjoy the courteous friendly service by the bartender and wait staff. Thanks for a great stay!
Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. Pool was clean. Hot tub was hot, but, not too hot. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Hotel is directly connected to a mall. It was nice to be able to just walk into the mall without having to go outside. This was especially nice for the wheelchair users we were with.
I stay at this hotel for a wedding. As an out of town guest my stay was excellent. The room was very clean and the front desk was able to assign the room I requested facing the courtyard. There was no hesitation. The staff was very polite and attentive. The food was well prepared and the staff kept the food replenished and hot. I found no area of concerns.
We booked a room overnight for our daughters b-day, which is in the winter, so she could enjoy an overnight stay and swimming. After we checked in, we went for dinner, and when we got in our nice, cozy room, we were greeted with wonderful desserts and treats, by Marriotts front desk agent Joleen Horton, with a Happy Birthday note! Thank you Joleen for making our daughters bday Extra Special. Your kindness was what made our stay at Marriott ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😊
Very clean. Nice breakfast yet only complimentary if your room rate is higher. We also wanted to add an extra PM in the beginning and 2 staff people quoted us $259, we went on line and found out we could use points with some $. We ended up spending $62 with points and got another PM added. Too bad the first 2 staff people couldnt suggest that. There also is no laundry facilities. Overall nice place yet look for a deal. Not worth $250-$300 per PM
Hotel was fine overall, but what struck me the most were the curtains in our room…they were pretty well torn to shreds (obviously old and extremely worn)…was not a welcome site …Restaurant only had one waitress show up so long wait for everything…obviously not her fault but maybe they should have just closed it…saw lots of people walk out..
My room was quit comfortable with the 2 queen beds (the most comfortable) easily accommodating 2 people; an abundance of towels and toiletries were nicer than most. The staff who serviced our meeting were exceptional. We openly acknowledged their service at a meeting break. We did have dinner at Sweet Lorraineand our waitress, Samantha (Sam) was just great!
Check in/out was quick, and the staff was very friendly. We had a clean room and the bed was comfortable enough -- not super luxurious but we didnt pay a luxury price. They left us a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for when we got back from our wedding - nice touch!
Over priced, lacking services. We stayed as part of a wedding party. All the members of the brides party were on an entirely different floor. We were 2 floors up and the last room in the hotel. Asked for additional pillows received none. Ceiling fan did not work in bathroom. Nearly was scalded with shower water good thing it wasnt my 5year old grandson. No water bottles in the room. No complimentary breakfast. It cost me nearly $20 for a breakfast I THOUGHT WAS INCLUDED IN MY ROOM RATE. Country Inn and Suites charges $100 nights and a quality breakfast. Would not recommend. Total lack of hospitality for guests WHO PAY THE BILLS and on top of that we currently have pending charges on our credit cards that are $50 above our quoted wedding party block price
We chose the hotel because it was part of a wedding block for an event in the area. Even though we spent most of the time downtown, it was a convenient drive, but wouldn’t work if we didn’t have a car. We didn’t really take advantage of any amenities, so I can’t say much about the pool or fitness facilities. The staff were very friendly.
I travel to this area regularly for work. This is an excellent hotel. I like that theres a parking ramp, especially in the winter since it keeps you from needing to scrape your car in the morning. Excellent restaurant with many choices and they will happily adjust menu items to fit your diet. I have never had a noise problem, rooms are clean, good internet. Friendly staff. I feel safe here. Gym is nice. Its connected to a mall including a movie theater and other excellent food options, need I say more? See you there!
My boyfriend and I traveled from Davenport, Iowa to visit a friend whom lives a few miles from the Hotel! Since the moment I arrived to the hotel until the moment I checked out I had nothing but friendliness and exceptional service. My check in and checkout went very smoothly with no complications. The room was quiet we couldnt hear any children screaming or running through the hallways which is a big plus. The weekend we stayed there were many wedding parties but that did not interfere with our stay as far as being loud or overcrowding the bar and eating area. We used the pool and which we went in the afternoon, we had the whole pool and hot tub to ourselves which was very nice. Pool was warm not freezing! Overall great stay, I hope you have an excellent experience like we did!
It is a nice property. Food is good. Staff is nice. One huge issue. It is a smoke free hotel, however, what they do is have the smoking area right in front of the main entrance. How dumb. You and your family cant enter or leave the buffing without running the gauntlet of smokers. The site gives smoker prime real estate. Poor planning and decision making.
Nice people work and stay here. Its clean with pretty décor. It has a parking garage to keep snow and ice off your car in the winter - AWESOME! I feel safe here, both inside and out. I sleep well; it stays quiet when Im here (I always during the week as I come for work purposes). I love having a mall so handy to spend my evenings. Nice gym and pool facility. The Sweet Lorraines restaurant is excellent; love eating there and have never had a bad meal.
The service was awful. Front desk hung up on us numerous times. Elevators smelled like urine. Mold was in the AC room unit. Stains on bedding. Rusted toilet paper holder. Restaurant was outrageously expensive with no kid friendly food. Hidden fees. Pool was freezing cold and they refused to turn it up even with me being disabled and it causing me pain. Nothing advertised was actually there ex: no hot tub/whirlpool. Carpets dirty. Pool area disgustingly dirty floors. Hair everywhere. Every garbage on the property was overflowing. The room itself gave me an upper respiratory infection and sinus infection from the mold in the unit. The AC was set to 60 and never made it past 74 with all windows blacked out. Reservations were messed up so even though I called ahead due to being physically disabled they gave my room away and made me stay on the second floor last room at the end of the hall. They didnt care about accommodating me by law per the disability act. Worst hotel experience I have ever had. To top it off this was for my sons sweet 16th birthday and I called ahead to confirm all the above information and was lied to. Makes it a million times worse. Very unhappy.
We arrived and was in our room within 10 minutes. Our room was roomy and even though we could only get a King bed we managed. An end table on both sides of the bed made it perfect! We enjoyed having a desk to put our computers on.The refrigerator came in very handy for our liquid entertainment. Amanda was our room attendant and she was sohelpful. Our meals and meetings were in a nice room and we had some great food. The convention meal staff made sure we had coffee and tea on the table and that was so appreciated. The servers were pleasant and easy to talk to.Overall, we had a great convention and I would recommend this convention facility for any group.
The Detroit Marriott Livonia is a bright spot with a pleasant and professional staff and a great place for an overnight staff. Rooms are well designed with nice amenties. Bonus is a nice restaurant. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and you even have a small fridge in the room. My group had great service and wonderful meals served in their convention facilities. Overall I highly recommend it for individuals or groups.
The place was great! The room was clean and precisely what we needed, not too big and not too small with enough room for my significant other and I to do what we needed to prepare for a wedding. We just wish the elevators were in order. The wait times, with up to 10 other guests at times, was infuriating.
Was there over the weekend for a Canusa Olympic Weightlifting event. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Can speak on the rooms other than our weigh-in room was quite spacious and seemed well equipped. We used a large conference room for our event and it worked well. It was well lit, and had great temperature control. I would love to stay here as an actual guest sometime.
Due to COVID restrictions, the pool as at limited capacity - reservations were required.I made my reservation with the concierge desk and stated a need for the pool. Upon check-in I was not informed. I had to learn this from the bartender. Why when I stated a need for a pool do I have to learn from a bartender and not at check-in?
Stayed here on a business visit. Very nice place to stay. Wonderful environment, not far from DTW airport and the major companies. Nice garden and lawn. Very good breakfast options unlike other Marriott hotels. Only negative I found out was that the room look old and the furnitures needs refurbishment. But overall very nice experience. I would give 4.5 star out of 5.
We loved the adjoining rooms for our girls weekend get-away. The staff was very attentive, from the front desk to the housekeeper. It was very convenient to have a restaurant connected to the hotel, as well as a shopping mall and very nearby movie theater, all of which we used. They even gave us a senior rate for being over 62 years old. We would definitely stay here again.
Pretty decent hotel. Better breakfast than many other Marriotts Ive visited recently, though it will set you back $16 for it. Gym is also larger and has some decent equipment. Pool area is covered and quiet, but the hot tub jets dont work. Also, there is no laundry service here, so if youre staying for more than a few days this may be a problem. The room I was assigned smelled smoky, so I asked the front desk to move me to another room and they gladly did so (its a non-smoking hotel, anyways). Just next door is a fairly large and busy bar, so grab a drink there and you have a one minute walk back to the hotel.
Worst hotel experience Ive ever had. Would not recommend the Livonia Marriott to anyone. We made reservations 2 months ago in a block of rooms supposedly set a side for a family weddings. We arrived a 4pm to check in. (Wedding at 5pm) We were told are room was not ready yet. The staff front desk was not helpful. They were very uncarring and robotic in their responses. Did not attempt to provide us with any good alternatives. Staff kept quoting policy as an excuse. We canceled our room and drove home after after Wedding. They took what was supposed to be a joyous evening with family and ruined it and did not care. The hotel was very old and gloomy. I will stay away from their hotel and tell everyone I can to avoid them also.
This particular Marriott is dated and needs upgrade. I mean they have made some superficial cosmetic makeover, but you can see that its old inside. I was there for only one night for business so I didnt care much, but definitely it would bother me if I was to stay there for 2-3 nights. I also found the toilet seat had stains which I had to wipe it off myself. My biggest peeve with Marriott is the horrible in-room coffee. I just dont understand this .. I need my coffee first thing in the morning and no, I do not want to go down to the lobby to get a coffee right out of my bed. Is it that much more savings to put two high quality coffee packs? If anything, charge few dollars more in the room rate.
This is a really good suburban Marriott, which just happens to be attached to a nice little shopping mall. On the whole, the hotel is a good value. Its exceptionally clean, the fitness center is recently renovated and generally quiet. Parking wasnt an issue on my recent stay, although previously it has been an issue when there are weddings and other special events at the hotel. Rooms are spacious and very clean. TVs are new with a good selection of channels. There are plenty of electrical outlets for devices, too. Also, the wireless internet is fast. The restaurant has excellent food and somewhat industrial-tasting coffee. The restaurant decor, however, is tired and in need of a refresh. It could also use a little more atmosphere in the evenings.
We checked in around 4 p.m. on a Sunday night and it was a very easy process, as a Gold Elite member. I had checked in online prior to the check in that evening. I did receive an answer back to my chat question after I asked a second time online. Since there was no concierge lounge that evening we were given a coupon for room service or restaurant service. That was very nice and well appreciated. We were able to order and watch the Super Bowl coverage in our room. This was very nice. My husbands burger and chips were delicious. I ordered the mac and cheese and it was equally good. The service was prompt and nicely delivered to our room. This is the first time I have had room service from a Marriott in many years, and I was pleasantly surprised. It worked great for that evening. We also enjoyed the breakfast on Monday morning in the concierge lounge. The food was tasty. There were many selections and we were very nicely greeted. We were able to pick a newspaper in the lounge. We did not get our paper request at our door. But that was OK. Our bill was correct and we were very pleased with this hotel stay.
I was forced to stay at this hotel due to a snowstorm, thus avoiding otherwise long commute home from my nearby workplace. I chose this hotel because it was near a mall where I could shop and eat without leaving the building. They gave me a great price and the hotel was very luxurious and accommodating. The staff was helpful and very friendly. They appeared to enjoy their jobs, which is a noticeable trait these days. The room and especially the bed was very comfortable too. I would stay at this hotel again if I am able to.
Great service! Food in Sweet Lorraines was amazing! Pool was a little cold and a light was burned out. The whirl pool was nice and warm or double bed first floor room was very comfortable! The beds were comfortable too. The walk to Laurel park place was a little crowded due to the ballrooms being down the same hall! all and all me and my girlfriend had a tremendous time.
What I loved here is that parking is simple with plenty of food spots around. Do note Lorraines inside for Breakfast is ON POINT. I never left anywhere else. Gena and Jamie were great along with the rest of the staff. Beds were comfortable and had enough space in your room AND downstairs to work. The gym has decent equipment that you could get work done. Basically put, this hotel is worth it for road warriors who desire cleanliness, consistency, and a decent fitness room.
As the hosts of an event, the staff were more than accommodating for our numerous requests. They were able to extend some services beyond normal hours. The staff also kept us informed on a daily basis as our room block filled up. Our suite was quite spacious and luxurious.
My wife and I love staying here after dinner and a movie at the connecting mall. The rooms are very affordable and provide a great evening of rest. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms clean and well stocked, and the TV and internet provide some pleasant relaxation. Its the perfect way to end an evening.Adding breakfast buffet is also a very economic way to ensure a good start to the morning with a wonderful morning spread and eggs to order.
Ive stayed at this hotel for a collectors convention the past 6 years and Ive never had the first complaint! From the moment I drove up til the minute I checked out, the staff was friendly and helpful and bent over backwards to make it the perfect stay. Even calling FedEx to pick up a package for me. Ive stayed at other hotels that said I needed to do it myself. The maid service was great. The bartenders and wait staff are the best! The restaurant has AWESOME food. Try the Traverse City Pasta with cherries. Breakfast Buffet was great. The meeting rooms and ballroom were clean and set up quickly and properly. No complaints here! Just A+ across the board! Ill be back next year!! Love this place!
I am appalled. We are having our family reunion here. I come back from Tigers game to find half my family been kicked out hotel. They got stuck in elevator for over an hour till the Fire Department arrived. The hotel reception wouldnt answer the phone when they called for help. The receptionist had them leave the hotel. Now they have extra security following us around near the hospitality suite. We are a family with nearly a hundred people, most with canes and wheelchairs. The others have children. We are being intimidated by the security. We have a large contract.
My Stay was very Pleasant at this Marriott, The Service Exceptional from Sweet Lorraines Restaurant to Housekeeping. We ate at Sweet Lorraines 3 times every server we had was Great so it wasnt a fluke. I would stay here again without hesitation. Its close to shopping and the Highway very good location. We truly enjoyed our stay here.
The location of this hotel was perfect. It being attached to the mall was nicw for the family. We mainly went there to use the pool and hot tub for the night and... No hot tub. The website showed hot tub, but alas no hot tub. I could see where it use to be since there was newer tile in the pool area. Work out equip was in good shape and there was a solid variety. Room was clean, tv was nice, but the mattresses could be a little nicer. The staff was beyond nice and even put some beach balls in the pool for the kids. I would stay here again, I just wish that hot tub would have been there.
I always look forward to coming back to the Detroit Marriott Livonia each year. The hotel is conveniently located next to a mall and movie theater, and there are a lot of dining options within walking distance. The concierge room is always clean and has a good breakfast and evening appetizer selection. Marlene, the evening attendant is phenomenal! She has been here for years and is always helpful with advice on local dining and entertainment ideas.
Everything was great, but the bartender named Bridget really pushed my experience over the top. She was delightful. She took really good care of my friend and I, she engaged in conversation and even asked us if we wanted her to see if there were chips or a snack when we arrived, even though the kitchen was closed just because she said that we looked hungry. The hotel and room were fabulous, Bridget made it exceptional.Carey Cole
This is by far the worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed in. It is really outdated and cleanliness is a major concern in guest rooms and common areas. As a frequent business traveler, I am on the road an average of 40-48 weeks a year and require cleanliness, comfort, and superior staff. This property falls short in all areas and I’m seeking alternatives in the area
Nicole Serna, the manager at the Livonia Marriott went above and beyond to make sure our stay at the Marriott was perfect before and after our wedding. We used the suite as our bridal suite to get ready beforehand, and our guests were able to receive the welcome bags that we prepared as they checked in at the front desk, and to utilize the shuttle service to our venue. The morning after breakfast coupons for the wedding guests were also very convenient. Our kids were also entertained with the pool. Thank you Nicole!
We stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights, in town to visit my brothers family. The room was priced nice, and it was very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. The dining area was very good. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Access to the mall was nice - walking distance indoors.
Very nice, clean, updated. Was confused by the tv. You have to log into Netflix if you want to watch something other than tv, I thought id be able to order a movie. Creamer in room was clumpy, I just went downstairs and got coffee from the lobby. Housekeeper just walked into our room an hour before check out. Didnt knock and say housekeeping or anything. Luckily, I was standing right there and said something. Otherwise, no problems. Bed and blankets are very comfortable.
We reserved 3 rooms, 2-2 doublebeds, 1 to be adjoining to a king with a sofa bed in a separate living area, because this one room was to have 4, 15 year old teens, 2 boys and 2 girls. Online phone person assured us this was what we were reserving. After 5-6 hours of driving, no such room for teens, only a room with a king a chair(which was what they had reserved for me). My disabled mom is waiting outside our room because our 1st, 2nd, 3rd...6th key will not work.. l request someone to let us in our room. Key Engineer gives keys but after trying them, only one works.. sometimes. ..We has to deal with 4 days of this.Ice machine leaked and hallway and two of our rooms smell like a teens sneakers... ..called to have area sprayed(why did I have to do that?).Thermostat does not work.. ..its in the single digits outside.. Buy mom longjohns.Beds very comfortable, staff wonderful and courteous, and rooms clean.
Overall the Marriott Livonia is a great place to stay. It is conveniently located and has many dining options, in addition to its own bar/restaurant. We stayed on a weekend and the breakfast/brunch made the entire lobby smell delicious!Very comfortable beds and a nice room. There was, however, a musty smell when we arrived. But that was gone once we turned on the A/C and opened the window the 6 or so it would allow.Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. I stay at Marriotts often and thought it upheld the standard I expect.
I attended the MHSA Winter Assembly and Elections for Tuesday. The accommodations were lovely and the lunch provided was absolutely delicious. My one concern was how cold the conference room was. It went warm and cold in cycles. The warm cycle was very brief and the cold cycle was hard to deal with on Friday. I kept my coat on.
This hotel is in a very nice and convenient location. I was able to shop in the mall and go to Bar Louie without leaving the building which is a bonus when it is winter in MI. The fitness center was very well equipped, which is important to me. The staff at the bar was very nice and made me feel welcome. Breakfast buffet was average however I was given a complimentary breakfast ticket when I check in so I cannot complain.
We brought our three young grandsons for an overnight and fun at the pool. We were informed upon arrival that the hot tub was not working(55357)(56897). So the pool was larger than most hotel pools and showed some signs of age (some stained pool walls). Being the hot tub was broken, I think they should have cranked up the heat on the regular pool. We were there on MLK day yet it was evident that maintenance was trying to fix the hot tub ASAP. Although that was a disappointment we still enjoyed our stay without having to go outdoors in January because the hotel is connected to a nice mall with a movie theater at one end and a temporary toy store was having a clearance sale. (Big Hit with grandsons) We also had the breakfast package and thought the buffet was very good. Being a Marriott Rewards member truly paid off because we stayed overnight, swam twice and had a delicious breakfast for a very reasonable price. The staff was doing a fine job and we had a very nice stay.
I frequently stay at Marriot Hotels for business related trips as well personal. Unfortunately, I discovered at the end of my stay that I was sleeping on bedsheets and comforters with stains. I am only to conclude that the hotel is not conscious about cleanliness. For that reason alone, it is enough for me not to trust this particular hotel to maintain appropriate level of cleanliness and using stain free CLEAN bedsheets and comforters.
After my father and I drove 12 hours to the Livonia area to pick up a boat and then found that the Days Inn that i had made a reservation at was disgusting to the point of being uninhabitable, we quickly found this fine Marriott was not far away. Upon arrival a very nice front desk staff found us a double room and after hearing what wed seen at the Days Inn, gave us a couple coupons for some free breakfast and pointed us to the bar/ cafe for some MUCH needed refreshments after our long trip! Room was very nice, the food at the bar was good (beer was GREAT), bartender was very nice, didnt have the time or energy to check out the pool, but either way everything was great! Big relief for us! Got a good nights sleep before heading home another 12 hours. Thanks to everyone who helped us on our stay! Oh and they didnt even complain about me parking a 23 foot boat i their busy parking lot!!!LoL
We booked a hotel block with this Marriott for our wedding. We had a lot of out of town guests, so it was very important that we had a good hotel. This hotel was affordable and a great location. They gave us a complimentary shuttle to and from the reception for our guests, which everyone appreciated. My guests couldnt believe what they got for the great price! Its great that the hotel is attached to a mall, so my guests didnt need a car to get to restaurants or shopping if they needed to.
Everything was very nice, the only drawback had to do with the air conditioning in the halls and check in area. It was very hot and we had a wedding, and reception there, thus we were in full dress and the a/c just wasnt cool enough. The wedding was great as well as the reception. Nice hotel.
The hotel was nice and clean. The hotel staff was awesome. Enjoyed the inside pool. There was always clean towels in the pool area. The food at the restaurant was always good. The mall area was nearby as well as the Movie theater. The area was near other businesses like Walmart, drug stores, and other restaurants.
Hotel is updated. The whirlpool jets were not working but the pool atrium was nice and open. Very nice courtyard area where we saw a private wedding so it seems like a nice venue. Didnt try the restaurant but saw several diners there for dinner and breakfast and food looked good. Connects to shopping mall which is also a nice place to visit and has a very nice Bar Louie.
We got a king room for $99 a night, decent sized room too. I was able to do my physical therapy, with plenty of room to spare. Bed was comfortable, no bed bugs, and everything was nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Conveniently had a restaurant in the hotel, which served breakfast lunch and dinner, plus cocktails. No specials, or anything free though. Prices for food and drink were very reasonable.
I stay here a lot for business. The location is unbeatable for those doing business in the suburbs, the rates are reasonable, and the hotel is clean and relatively quiet. The only drawback is the inconsistent service, especially in the restaurant and from room service. With that said, the food is good, its just overshadowed by so-so (at best) service. Also, the fitness facility equipment is dated. In particular, the treadmills are older and worn-out. It would also be nice if the hotel would do a better job at recognizing top-level Marriott elite guests, as they dont provide any special recognition despite an abundance of competition within 15 minutes of this hotel.
This is a no horseplay/non partying hotel and they have no problem telling you when you check in. I was charged in fine print 4.95 for the high speed internet I did not use. You literally enter your name and room number to get charged- seriously everyone in my group had that information. They did take it off but should have better security for that system. The rooms are nice, beds average, clean and upscale food in lobby - I love Sweet Lorraines!!!
Jason gave us delightfully old fashioned good service and patiently explained the many options. My wife and daughter got the drink options they wanted and so did I. Then the food came and every soup salad and entree was delicious...and then Jason saved us money on the bill!AmazingThank you
Great service and friendly staff. Restaurant on premises has tasty dishes and a great bar. Nice pool and exercise room. Great Elite recognition. Clean hotel and quick check in experience. Free parking and conveniently located to other bars and restaurants within close proximity. Not too far of a ride to downtown Detroit and DTW.
This was our first visit to the area and we had a wonderful stay at the Detroit Marriott Livonia. All of the hotel staff provided excellent customer service and the room was very clean and quite comfortable. The food at Sweet Lorraines was outstanding and priced reasonably. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and were very impressed with all of our selections. The wait staff provided exceptional service. The hotel has a very large fitness room that overlooks a large pool area that would be great in the warmer weather. We would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to future visits to the area and the Detroit Marriott Livonia.
Extremely small king room which is getting a little long in the tooth, but bed was good. Small bathroom with enexplainable placement of a towel rack directly in front of the too-high sink mounted on the vanity. Horrible tissue paper toilet paper. Wall paper, paint, etc is showing age and is dated. Good breakfast buffet that was worth the money. Parking during wedding was non-existent in lot when we returned from dinner, so I went inside to ask where to park. We were directed to a parking structure a half block away. It would have been better to tell you that when checking in, and even better, have wedding guests park there, leaving the closer lot for hotel guests. Overall, hotel was just ok, and does not match other full-service Marriotts by a large margin.
Horrible. The fire alarm has been going off for over an hour now and not a single person knows what is wrong and if it will be fixed. It’s almost midnight. Not to mention, when I asked about this, I got no apology. All that was said was “hopefully it will be fixed”. The time before I that was here, none of they outlets worked and neither did my TV. I decided to give them another shot this business trip and I end up with fire alarms going off. I would not recommend and I will not be back.
Our family stayed at the hotel for my sisters wedding. We had several rooms and were all very happy. Would have been nice if the concierge lounge was open on the weekends. Hotel was very clean. Libby area very clean. Having Sweet Lorraines restaurant in the lobby was convenient but expensive.
My husband and I could not be happier with the experience we had with Marriott. They worked diligently to get my bridal party in their rooms for early check in! The rooms were in great condition and had so much room to get ready in! We also booked a meeting room for the grooms men to get ready in which they loved! This day would have have run so smoothly without the help of Shawna Fleming. I cannot thank her enough for how accommodating she was. She was always quick to respond and always had a solution to any concerns or questions I had. A HUGE THANK YOU to Shawna and the rest of the Marriott Staff for everything they did for us!
My experience here was fairly limited, as I was only here for a brief period for a single extended meeting for my company. But the facility seemed clean, the couple people I interacted with as employees were kind. No real complaints, and everything seemed to be going well.
Weve stayed at this hotel several times for both business and leisure, and cannot say enough positive things about it. From the upbeat and friendly staff to the quality rooms at a good price, its an overall great place to stay. We also love that its connected to the mall, making it super convenient to do a little shopping and find great places to eat.
Overall, the Marriott Livonia was a nice place to stay. Rooms were comfortable, although I would have liked a small couch instead of a chair. This would have helped with the couple of small meetings I held. Bed was very comfortable but the mattress felt a touch old and worn, bordering on lumpy. I thought the breakfast buffet was nice and worth the price charged. Staff was friendly and helpful. Id defini3atay here again.
Very poor experience trying to make a reservation here. I called because Im attending an upcoming conference and wanted to get the conference group rate for two days instead of just one. I was told over the phone that it wasnt a problem and made a reservation. However, I never received the confirmation e-mail with the pricing to turn in to my employer, even after they attempted to send repeatedly to two e-mail addresses. I called back an hour later after waiting for the e-mails to arrive, which they never did. After discussing this problem and attempting to send more e-mails, which also never arrived, the rep asked me to go to Marriotts website to enter my confirmation number to view my confirmation there. It turns out that aside from e-mail problems, Marriott was also experiencing technical problems with their website and I couldnt retrieve my reservation information there either. I asked for the itemized pricing verbally and this is when I found that the group rate was not applied to the second day of my stay and the total cost was $60 dollars higher than I was told it would be on my original call. They were unable to make an accommodation to correct this price and I ended up cancelling my reservation after wasting an hour and half on the phone today. Dont be me. It isnt worth the trouble Just start elsewhere and stay somewhere else.
The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not functioning. Nor was the one in my parents room, as well as my brothers room. The hotel was pretty noisy, we could hear people walking and talking in the hallway all night. To be fair, there were a couple of weddings in the hotel, including my nephews. The hotel was very clean, the breakfast buffet was good.
We visited this hotel during a family event - my mother passed away, and we needed a place for the family, that could prepare a luncheon after the funeral. We could not be more satisfied with the hospitality, with a helpful and friendly staff, as well as great food and service. I travel on business, so I can be particular about hotels. This hotel gets high marks for comfort, service and convenience. So glad we found it!
Made a reservation for a double room for my family of four and when I got there they didnt have any left. We had to sleep 3 in a king bed with one on the sofa pull out that had no linen. It took them over 30 minutes to provide linen. This wouldnt be that big of a deal, but it was late and I had tired kranky kids. I will not stay here again because the customer service was unacceptable. I was already upset about the sleeping arrangements, so I expected them to be a little more considerate of my situation and time. They could care less. Good thing my kids were young and not grown up teenagers. Rooms were clean and that is the only reason they are getting a second star.
The new restuarant does NOT have a great selection of food. THere is nothing on the menue that I would eat. THey used to have a great pot roast with mashed potatoes which they no longer offer. The room service is awful. THey do not have potatoe skins. I think the restuarant and room service menue is horribleALso the room smelled musty when I first entered.
Not what I was expecting from a Marriott! The rooms are very outdated and beat up. Scuffs on the wall and furniture. Faded, dirty looking wallpaper. Dreary furniture. The beds looked rumpled when I came in...they were plain white...no frills with a stain on the top sheet. Will not be staying here again!
I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars because this hotel had a handful of pros and cons.Pros: nice workers at concierge, good food at the restaurant, clean rooms, coffee maker, fridge, tv with HDMI cable and internet tv available, and a few others. People on the floors seem to be polite and quiet.Cons: very outdated, paper thin doors which thankfully werent a big deal since the hotel had quiet people present. The bathroom was very small without a fan. One of the two outlets near the bed wasnt working, the tv auto turns off after a few episodes without an easy way to turn it off.My largest problem with this place was the check in. Im on vacation, Im not going to wear a suit to a hotel in Livonia; however, the tone she had made me feel like she thought I wasnt good enough to stay at the hotel and she seemed shocked when I paid for the hotel room. Then, on check out, they referred to my boyfriend like he paid for the room when I had hence my name being on the account which is another big pet peeve of mine. So, 3 stars only. I doubt Ill stay there again. The only reason we did was for the room service.
The hotel itself is clean and nicely appointed. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Unfortunately my associates and I suffered the same fates (4 separate rooms, 4 similar experiences) as I describe below:The air conditioner/heater sounded like a jet engine, so the options were to set the control to automatic (where it shut off then cycled every few minutes), or leave the fan running all the time, or turn it off entirely. The temperature outside was cold (9 degrees F), so the heater needed to be on. Leaving it on automatic caused the system to cycle every few minutes and made for a restless night, so day 2 I left the system fan on all night, as I can live with constant sound. The next problem was the positioning of the vents from the heater which blew air across the bed at an incredible rate. To solve this I moved the chair in the room in front of the vents to deflect the air. Obviously the people who designed the rooms have never slept in them.Lastly, I was completely taken aback by the lack of soundproofing between rooms and floors. I could hear everything in the rooms adjacent and the footsteps/sounds above were annoying for someone who was already having a sleepless night. I travel a significant amount, and I normally dont write reviews, but this seemed extreme to me.Next time, given the choice, I will book the Courtyard next door.
I not only had a xmas party for my church here but I also got married in the same space in August. The staff is wonderful and it is a beautiful room. The only knock on the hotel as a whole is the staff at the restaurant by the lobby. The staff there is always rude, slow and unattentive. The night of our Xmas party I stopped for a drink after. My drink was wrong and then the bartender argued with me when I let her know. Also the restaurant manager just sits at the bar on his phone. But the event space is awesome and so is the event staff. I highly recommend them, just stay away from the restaurant.
I had several meetings scheduled over a couple of days. I was looking for a location close to my first meeting on Friday. Luckily the Detroit Marriott, Livonia was available. This was a real find. The property was clean, comfortable and spacious. Just seeing the size of the rooms I could see that this was an older property. However, that was the charm of this property. I had a really large room and it was very comfortable during my stay. All the Marriott employees were pleasant and willing to please this again, this was a really pleasant surprise. I have been coming to Detroit on and off for 30 years and never knew of this property. I will be back.
Ive been coming to this hotel for our yearly event since 1995 and never once have I been disappointed or had any problems. The staff, food, facilities are always close to perfect. The location is great --- attached to a mall with places to eat and shop. I look forward to staying at the Livonia Marriott again and again each April.
This hotel is close to the Schoolcraft College and has an excellent restaurant on premise. We had the avocado crab cakes, gorgonzola potato chips, and the calamari at Sweet Lorraines. My only real complaint is that the restroom in my room felt very small. But thats it! Otherwise, it was a great experience and would recommend staying there again.
I travel every week for work and this Marriott is my favorite place to stay. The staff is professional, helpful and genuinely concerned in the quality of your stay. The rooms are comfortable and upscale. The concierge breakfast is one of the best and the evening service is very nice as well. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Livonia area.
Excellent Marriott overall with Nice rooms and amenities. Gym was fair, with not only a good number of cardio machines but also free weights and resistance machines. Restaurant serves excellent food; I enjoyed the craft beer selection and mushroom and goat cheese flatbread. Excellent!
My girlfriend came in to town and I wanted to do something different. The hotel was in earshot of a lot of quality restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping options. The hotel was very clean, aesthetically pleasing, and a great bargain for the cost. The breakfast buffet downstairs in the hotel cafe was very good.
The walls in the hotel are paper thin. We might as well have been in the room with the loud annoying family next to us. We could hear every word. Every fart. Every burp. Every F bomb. It was so gross hearing everything. They woke up at 8 am and there was no sleeping after that. If you want to have any privacy or sleep, this is not the hotel for you. I will never stay here again. I have never had an experience where it felt like they were with me in my room. It is weird to know they can hear everything we do too.
The Detroit Marriott Livonia is a great place to stay because the staff makes it that way. From the moment one walks into the hotel, you are greeted in a professional and warm fashion. The staff anticipates your needs and has already prepared a fashion to accommodate the needs of theguest.Cheerfully the staff worked at making my visit the most comfortable it could possibly be.I was relaxed and able to conduct my business without worrying about food service, room preparation, or anything one could wish for. Thanks to the staff my stay was peaceful and everything that I came for was a success.
Great hotel. I had to call a few times to get broken glass cleaned up in the bathroom and with a three year old that was a hassle, but I understand being busy. The room, food, and atmosphere were amazing. FYI...I ended up walking 4 rooms down and asking a housekeeper for her broom and vacuum and just cleaned it up myself.
Ive stayed at your hotel many times before and have always enjoyed it. I was so disappointed when my boys and I stayed there recently because our power was out due to a storm. It also happened to be my youngest sons first day of school the following day. I checked into your hotel so he could start his first day of middle school stress free. I purchased the package where the boys could go to the 6th floor the next morning and get some food before they went to school. It was very disappointing when we packed up and made our way to the 6th floor but were unable to open the door with our key (we were told the day before to use our key to open the door). My boys were starving and nervous about school. We then walked back down stairs with our bags and tried the elevator. The elevator wouldnt move up to the 6th floor only down. We were all getting very frustrated, hungry and scared we would be late for school. We tried to walk up again at the opposite end of the hallway and were unable to open this door too. At this point we had no choice but to leave because of the time. We reported the event to the people at the counter and they just looked at us. Not more than 12 feet away was the hotel store (couldnt they have at least offered the boys a banana?). As we were walking out the door I heard one of the clerks say, Do you want to go up now? I looked back and politely said, This is my sons first day of school. Were late. Hes hungry and we dont have time now. Your staff needs to take a very basic class on helping customers.
Rooms are from 1980 and are tiny. Door hinges slam and so what you’ll hear all night are just doors slamming. Staff are relatively disinterested in helping aside from my housekeeper who was very helpful and friendly. Beds are comfortable it aside from that the hotel desperately needs a remodel and parking is limited.

2022-02-08Hotel was good to work with for our wedding. Took off a star because the bartender was extremely rude. We know they close at midnight but she was abrasive and scolded me when I asked for a drink with more than 30 mins left. We brought in a TON of business for the bar/restaurant with our 200+ person wedding, so sorry for giving you money…I guess? The room was comfortable and bed was nice.

2022-05-08We stayed here for a soccer tournament. The breakfast buffet that was included in our stay was very good. They even had omelets to order for Mothers Day.The rooms were clean and in good condition. The shower could have been better.

2022-04-06The Detroit Marriott Livonia is a little slice of heaven. Not because it’s posh, shiny or sexy… but because the staff is delightful. Barbara was super welcoming and friendly when I checked in. Marsha laughed at my stupid jokes and happily made me another keycard when I locked myself out (Marsha is also my mom’s name, so, she earns automatic points). And while Marsha assured me that Stacy was NOT worthy of a shoutout in a Google review, I beg to differ: thank you, Stacy. You are a gentleman. Thank you to all the staff at the Detroit Marriott Livonia for making my stay excellent. And you can rest assured… they’ll make your stay excellent too.

2022-06-24Great location right off of the freeway. Friendly and helpful staff. This location is attached to an older mall. Recommended for easy access to the freeway and free parking.

2022-03-13Heat in the room did not work. Woke up at 5 am to frost on the windows and the “heater” blowing cold air. Even with the thing set to 85. Front desk seemed like they didn’t care. Offered no type of compensation.

2021-09-07It took four phone calls to make a single reservation for 3 rooms. We were misled by the reservation specialists multiple times, including being told we had actually booked four rooms. We canceled one, confirming we had 3 reservations left. At check in we were told we only had two rooms, requiring us to book another room at double the price. When calling to complain, we got a lovely person who assured us that someone would be contacting us to “make things right.” During our stay, there was one particular front desk attendant who was fairly rude. We had trouble using our credit cards, even after calling our banks, who told us the problem was on the merchant’s end. Housekeeping never felt the need to visit our rooms during our multiple stay, even though trash cans were full and we needed more towels. We received our breakfast coupons at 10:30am the day of check out, 2+ hours after we paid for breakfast. And the only customer service we got was a form email saying they couldn’t change the rate on the room, no questions about what happened, no apologies. The hotel did a wonderful job with my brother’s wedding… But there were several hotel guests, not just us, who were unhappy with their stay. We don’t plan on visiting any Marriott again after this experience, especially in light of their poor customer service.

2021-11-06The bed was very comfortable and the location worked well for coming in for a funeral. Pleasant looking room with a coffee maker and mini fridge. I hate that they don’t clean rooms daily. They could use some updates like providing USB plugs both on the desk and bedside, providing a normal bar of soap for those that don’t use body wash, towel bars for a place to hang your bath towel since they are not changing them daily, and most of all, good lighting and a makeup mirror. Restaurant and lounge were convenient and had good options. All staff were pleasant and helpful.
